001This April, APS proudly celebrates the month of the military child, honoring the strength, resilience, and contributions of our military-connected students and families. Military-connected families are a vital part of Arlington Public Schools. With more than 1,450 military-connected students across APS, many experience frequent moves and new beginnings every few years. We recognize the challenges that come with that lifestyle, and we remain committed to ensuring that these students feel welcome, supported, and connected from day one. I'm incredibly proud that we have 12 Purple Star Schools in APS, designated by the Virginia Department of Education. Congratulations to first-time awardees this year, Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary and Wakefield High School, as well as some returning awardees, Hoffman-Boston Elementary, Kenmore Middle School, and Swanson Middle School. Let's celebrate our incredible military-connected students this month and every month. At APS, we are committed to meeting the needs of all students. Thank you, and please share your photos and support online using hashtag APSMOMC.
