And for those of you who I haven't had the chance to meet, my name is Katie McCra and I have the great pleasure of working for Educational Theater Company. Um, if you've been with us before, you've heard me say the words that my job is way more fun than yours. And you're about to see why. Um, I am with ETC. I am our director of development. I am our director of curriculum development. And I am also our main cardinal teacher and uh ETC side of the cardinal liaison. Uh, we have been super lucky this year that the PTA uh stepped it up. Colin reached out to PTA last year and said the funding for this program is being cut and PTA said no problem, we'll take it on. So, we've been really lucky to work
with PTA in that way and also to continue our during the school day programming, which I teach a lot of, which is always really fun. The production that you're about to see was written by all of the students on stage. So, 10 weeks ago, they joined us. Um, as you'll see in the notes in the program, we didn't actually even have a title yet. when they joined us 10 weeks ago and we did not have a story, they came up with their characters, they came up with the story, they came up with all the lines, all of the lyrics to the songs and they had to learn it all. And in the midst of all of that, if you think all the way back to the end of January, we lost an entire week. Um,
which is a lot when you only have 10. Um, so they have really been incredible. And if you've been with us before, you know that typically our performances are Thursday and Friday. So this week as well, we lost an entire day of technical rehearsals. So this week we added in 12 fifth graders who do all the technical things. Follow spot, sound, percussion, microphones, lights, scene changes, everything. And instead of having three days to learn the show, they had two. They had actually less than six hours to learn everything they're about to see on the stage. So they were awesome. And so much of that is what you can see does. We are a process-based company. Our goal is always to bring programming where our participants are. So we teach ages 3 to 103, although actually
right now we're going as young as two for some programming at Drew Elementary. And we have a program this Saturday at the rebel room from 3 to 6. And we also have our online creative age program that does not have a limit. If you're older than 103, you can still join us online for creative age. Um and we have more programming happening right now. If you head to um our website, you can see all of that cool awesome stuff. And we are a nonprofit. So so much of what we do is bringing not only bringing our work to the community, but also really amplifying the stories of the community. Now, some of it is incredibly imaginative and fictitious like you're about to see, but sometimes we're sharing stories of middle school students who are family
who are immigrants or from immigrant families and they are sharing what their experience has been like being in middle school. in that situation. We have our senior citizens who are telling us stories of their first love or their divorce or whatever that is and we want to always amplify the voices of our community. You can help make all of that happen because we are a nonprofit. So, in addition to having the chance to spend my afternoons with your incredible students, I am also a director of development. So, if you'd like to know more about where your donations go or if you'd like to make a donation or if you'd really like to donate some time and join our board, please come talk to me at the end. Please enjoy the big bad wolf deception or
how the big bad wolves are still big and mad and tricky animals. >> Six straw bricks. There's no time to stall to have a better life for all. Stick strong bricks. Everyone gather around. Let's build a new town. Stick strong bricks. There's no time to have a better life for all. Stick strong grace. Everyone gather around. Let's build a new town. Let's build some houses with a garden, too. Go to the market and go to school. Stroll to the playground and have some fun. Take a walk in the neighborhood. They'll be in a hot dog. straw bricks. There's no time to stop to have a better life for all. Stick straw bricks. Everyone around. Let's build a new town. Six strong bricks. >> Oh, I'm so hungry. I haven't eaten in decades. >> Yeah, I'm
so hungry. Somebody get me something to eat. >> Oh, yeah. We don't have any food. We don't have any food nearby. Every time I try to GO TO MCDONALD'S, THEY always run away. All this land around us is making it impossible to find food. >> How do you all this land but barely any animals live on? >> All this land and no food. You know how I thought all this land wasn't really the most harmonious. >> Yeah. Sometimes I wish all of our great great great and so on and so forth grand wolves had scared all the animals away. Then we would have food. >> If Willa's grandfather hadn't eaten the little boy who cried wolf, we would probably have food by now. >> My grandfather wouldn't stop trying to eat all the pigs. And
now he's scared all the pigs away. I want the pigs. >> Yeah. I wish my great grandmother didn't eat all the other grandmothers. >> We have all this land from our ancestors, but they scared all the animals away and now there's none to eat. I mean, I love all this land, but we need a way to find food. Does anyone have any ideas? We need to put ourselves in the shoes of our great ancestors and find ways to find animals that we can eat. >> Maybe we can invite the animals to come to us. >> What if we tell them they can start a town and then we can strike? >> Let's make sure we only invite the smaller animals. We might not be able to handle some of the bigger ones. We need pork.
I mean pigs and maybe some others. But the thing is none of them trust us because of our ancestors. Maybe we convince them we changed. Maybe they'll come. We can tell them we're different from our ancestors. We haven't earned our reputation yet. Maybe we can tell them we're vegetarian. We can tell them how they can trust us and that we're making amends. This is a great plan, but we need a way for the animals to find us. >> I know a good news. I can ride them with our money. >> What about the new pork TONS OR MAYBE AN ADVERTISEMENT? We could sponsor some ads. >> Those are all good ideas, but why don't But some animals don't. >> We could start a YouTube channel to talk about our new town. >> I know famous
journalists, too. I could talk to her. Maybe do a TV interview or something. >> These are all good ideas, but what if some of the bigger animals? >> We said we can only accommodate small animals. Maybe that we don't have enough land for big ones. We can say that it's a small animal oasis where they can get away from the big animals and the noises. Those are all good ideas, but why don't we call it the Today Show? >> Anyone but that Peter Alexander. I can't talk to people name. >> Why not? >> Ever since that whole Peter and the Wolf thing, I just can't handle people named Peter anymore. >> What about everyone's driving? They can turn on the radio and we can have a plan. >> Maybe we could find at least one
small animal for us. like a small animal influencer. >> TV, you can make sure there's no skip buttons on. >> If you want a lot of animals to cops, it needs a cool name. The Oasis of Small Animals Disney Farm. >> I'm pretty sure it small farm, big one. That's a good tagline, but we need a name. >> Woop sanctuary. Something involved with feast. So that they said they're going to get a feast, but it's really a feast for us. >> The town of feastivities. Ooh, that's good. Everyone in favor? >> It's decided. Let's get the word out. And after we do all of that, we can just sit back, relax, let the food come to us. >> We all have done be gone. Man, I'M SO EXCITED TO BUILD A NEW TOWN. >> I'm
here because all those big horses never let me build anything. I agree. The bigger animals kept pushing me around. >> Apparently, I was too devious for my old car. So here I am >> interest. >> I'm so excited to start a bakery. I really want to make some which I wasn't allowed to do in my old town. >> Same. I really like baking cookies, but I couldn't because the cows I live with are allergic to them. >> I was thinking of starting a freestand. Maybe I can take you guys to my fresh fruit. >> Hey, you might need some sports drinks for my sport like a little sport track. This should be amazing sport. I love sugar. >> Sugar makes me hyper out of my old animal never liked it when I was hyper. Do
you guys have any ideas out of it about Sticks. What if her name? >> I agree. Sticks won't be very sturdy. >> What about straw? >> No. Absolutely not. That is not sturdy enough. How about lavender? It smells and it looks good. All these ideas are not sturdy enough. >> Yeah, sorry. It's so cool and all that stuff. But how would we get all the clay to make some bricks? >> I have my ways. Do those ways involve breaking those. I do not like breaking even though I do. >> I do not think we should do anything that breaks down. >> I have an idea that's a lot more legal. The mom's dad's brother and sister's brother's gift is >> making this. >> We have friends. No strong, no sticks. We have friends. We have
bricks. No, no sticks. We have bricks. >> 1 2 3 4. Start something new. Start something fresh. We got it all. We're the best. This is our land. No Boston round. It's really grand. We'll stand our ground. Our town is safe. Our town is strong. This is the place where we belong. >> We have bricks. No straw, no sticks. We have bricks. We have bricks. No straw, no sticks. We have bricks. New town, new space. Bricks are what we have in list. No more straw and sticks. Bricks are the trick. New town, new space. Bricks are what we have in. No more straw and sticks. Bricks are the trick. Bricks don't miss. We build our houses and bakeries and sports and everything. That's not good. If they hide in their brick house all day, we'll
never be able to eat them. All those delicious animals will go to waste. Maybe we convince them to let us help them. We can tell them to build sticks and drop. Phones will fall down easily. I'll read the next group and we'll do straw. It's very strong. I'll take him to the battle rise after that. It doesn't seem like they probably won't hold the straw. We'll build houses on a stick. Let's go. >> Welcome animals. We want to change and we are so happy that you came to live in our town. Let's make a town that you can live in. >> Thank you. Thank you. I'm excited to build the house worth. Are you sure? >> Yes, absolutely. This place is the same. We really want to make amends. >> I'm just here to start
a new town and leave the big animals. >> I'm sick and tired of the huge animals trying to boss me around and kick me. >> I'm tired of that, too. I'm so small. >> I just want to go to the new town and have fun. I'm just so excited to get away from the animal shop. >> I just want to have a new town and I think the wolves will give us protection. >> I'm excited to build a house that can get all my precious. >> I'm excited to build a village, you guys. I can't wait to build my own. >> I really want to build a statue of a giant pig. >> Hey, Washington. I love that. That's beautiful. I'll build a perm that can fit my whole family. I'm so excited to be
here because I can just play around all day. >> I think we need to build a bakery. >> I'll help you build a bakery. >> Okay. Okay, it's time. What should we build this neighborhood home? >> We should build it out of bricks. >> Bricks? Um, they're no good. You know what they do? They crumble into itsy bitsy pieces. >> Sticks also strong. sticks. You can just cut it so easily. Should we make our houses out of cotton candy? >> Cotton candy wraps. >> No, no, no. I actually don't think cotton is going to be disgusting. >> We would all want to eat it. And with just one bite, a whole house will come crashing down. >> I guess food isn't the best idea for building. What if we make a cement thing? >> Cement?
Oh, it just takes too long and we don't have the supplies. What about the animal logs? >> That's a really big fire hazard. >> What about sandstones? >> We don't have any beaches around here. >> What about fabric? >> Fabric. If it rains, it will just get soggy. >> What about dry mud? >> Dried mud. If it rains, it stops being dry mud and it's just wet mud. How about strong? >> Yeah. Onward to go get strong. >> Hi everyone. I'm so glad you made it. I'm so excited to have you live here in this wonderful spot. It's all just for you. I'm so happy to eat. >> I'm going to have you for dinner as a guest, of course. Oh my god, this will be so so nice. It's nice to have >> I
understand. I came to this place cuz the farmers kept waking everyone up in the middle of the night. >> Yeah, I'm glad this is a warm welcome instead of a middle of the night wake up routine. >> I'm glad I came here because there are no horses to stop. >> The farmer kept expecting me to catch mice. Do I look like I have the energy for that? >> Absolutely. Way too much energy. And I would never eat you either because I'm too busy helping start this wonderful town for everybody. >> This is going to be awesome. >> I'm so glad that I came. I agree. It was a long trip, but I'm so happy I made it. I'm excited to build my house. It's going to be so big, so everyone can come visit. We
should start building right now. >> I probably build a house some place with lots of cards so I can catch stuff. Save me. >> I'm going to make a super big house that has a heard in every corner so I can plug in my phone wherever I'm standing. I'm going to build a house that has such good protection. No one will dare to enter it. I know the perfect thing for protection. I have some perfect sticks. Look at them. They're so sturdy and straight. They'll definitely hold up. I'm not sure if this are really sturdy. Oh, don't worry. These sticks are really strong. Feel. Look. If I even try to break it. >> It's just too hard. These sticks are made from the strongest trees ever. And if anyone ever tries to hurt you or
eat you, it will never happen because this is a perfectly safe town. You'll be safe. I think we should listen to her. It sounds very believable. >> Even I chose to make the stick feel very strong. >> Well, what is made from sticks? >> I guess sticks from there. You can find them all around. So, we can build. >> Why are we standing here and waiting? Let's start building. Come on, everybody. Stick sticks just for kids. We learn to build with sticks. The wolf can tell us to build sticks. She's not playing any tricks. Everyone gather out. No slacking. Build this town. >> We're sick of those. Let's not worry about singing this song. >> Just for kids. We like to build lay time to stall. chips. They're perfect for just plain old sticks. Splits
just for kings. We like to build with sticks to build tricks. >> I love you. >> Thank you. >> Well, it wasn't much. It's only just this thing. It's good that everyone's settling in. Maybe we should all just um eat some more things. >> I think we should do a few more finishing that so much. >> I tried other neighborhoods and I tried to train other neighborhood. I forgot what it was and it was really good. >> Speaking of more, I'm hungry. I try. >> I also have a cupcake sweet tooth straw if any of you would like to try it. >> I would like to try that. >> Let's have a town warming party. >> I think I will bring all of my candy that I made to share with everybody. >> I'll bring
some games that I got fruit and >> I'll bring a big bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream to share. >> And I'll bring some toppings for it. Ooh, that all sounds delicious. I'll pick my special bread and the cupcakes that look like Charlotte neighborhood. >> I'm making some pumpkin chocolate chip bread. >> I'm bringing some chocolate chip banana bread stuff with delicious bread. It's getting a little wind in here. >> I've never seen it be this windy. >> This is very unusual. >> Oh, the wind is just nothing. It'll blow away soon. >> I see over there. It's coming from the wall. >> Are you sure? >> It's definitely the wolves. Wind. Oh no. Winds. Oh no. What's that sound? It's coming down. Wind. Oh no, waves. Oh no, what's that sound? It's coming
down town. >> Strong. Strong. We have straw. We have barrels of straw. I love my I love my straw. It's so fun. But it has a block. Man, it's frightening. Could it be lightening? Could it be a storm? WHERE'S THAT wind coming from? >> It's coming. The wind is here. What are we going to do? It's all here. Chill out. We'll be fine. We're on strong. Over night wind. Oh no. Wind. Oh no. What's that sound? It's coming down. Wind. Oh no. Wind. Oh no. What's that sound? It's coming down. I don't believe they lied to us. Oh, this just something to do when it's cold out to warm you up. >> Some straws starting to fly around. >> They're trying to blow our neighborhood down. >> The wolves are TRYING TO EAT US. >>
I CAN'T believe we fell for this trick. >> I'm sure they lied to us. I think we should tell the other neighborhood. >> Yes, we should all go to the neighborhood made upstairs in case they need help staying warm. Everyone in one neighborhood would keep everyone warm. We have to go in the office. We don't want them getting eaten. >> But I don't really know where they live. No, they live in >> this town and they live in this neighborhood in this town. >> We need to go now. If we don't, they houses could get blown down to. >> Let's go save the others. >> Let's go to the sticks. It's the closest. >> Well, what are we standing around for? Let's go. Man, our neighborhood looks so good. >> Yeah, everyone's houses looks so
good. >> My poor track is looking great and I feel it right now. The village. >> I know the bakery is really what I'm making is really fresh. That's a lot of work. Wait to build this wonderful town. >> It was really hard finding birds. >> Yeah, those birds aren't really the right choice. >> I see that some of the other farm animals built their neighbors out of stick and rock, >> but I think birds are better. >> I also noticed that. But I noticed that the wolves were helping those other neighborhoods build their houses out of sticks and straw. It was helpful. Always weird. So wolves would help us. >> Yeah, it's kind of weird that they're not helping us. I mean, it's kind of smells like they're helping them stick. >> I think
it's good. I think they're just trying to be helpful. I hear wind. Do you guys hear that, too? Yeah, I actually >> What is that over there? >> I feel like they make new wolves. I see like creep dots over there. >> I can't believe it. The other night they stepped into the woods over there and heard the walls talking about a beast and blowing the wind out of the other neighborhoods. It was weird. I thought we were supposed to hear. >> Those are definitely wolves. But what are they doing in that neighborhood? >> Well, they have been helping over there. But why is there so strong wind? >> Could they be the ones causing the wind? >> I think they're doing it. I think they're trying to build the house. >> Oh my gosh,
you're right. I do see them huffing and puffing to fire in the hospital. >> I see straw in the air. >> They lied to us. >> We have to help the other little animals. Send a message or something. >> I think we should every single neighborhood a baby piped up to our neighborhood. Our neighborhood made strong bricks. >> That's the smartest. Remember that story where the big bowels blew down the other houses down the brick house. We should be safe. >> In that story, they blew down the sticks and straw down. >> And after WE GET EVERYBODY TO SAFETY, it's time TO DRAW THE WHOOSH WHIS out of our town. >> I feel like it's a really really good idea we chose bricks in a straw or something. >> I agree. We're going to save
all the other animals from the other neighborhoods. >> All right. So, some of us need to warn the stick neighborhood. Some of us need to help the straw neighborhood. And some of us need to get our home. You, you and you go to the straw neighborhood. You, you and you go to the sick neighborhood. But the rest of us will stay here and do our house. Sounds like a great plan. Let's do it. >> But if you're getting my house ready, tap tape. Trust me, whatever is in your house, I think we can all handle it. >> Okay, everyone, go get your chops. Let's go save our town. >> There goes the entirety of both neighborhoods. I couldn't find anyone. >> Neither could I. I went down to the stall neighborhood to blow down the
houses. Nobody cared. Same. >> What if they're all together? >> Well, the only safe place for us would be >> the brick neighborhood. >> Oh no, those houses can't be blown down. >> Clearly, they are on to us. This is bad. >> They are on to us. We need to do something about it. >> We should leave. They might give up on us. How are numbers unionizing? They're both the same thing and they're both problems. That's a lot of Well, >> totally, doesn't we? >> 10 of us. >> There's too many of them. If we even attempt to elbow, then it's really dumb. >> Yeah, I totally agree. This would be so so hard to try to eat them. I just >> Well, if they do attack us, we could run somewhere far away and
start a new business. >> Yeah, I agree. We should definitely run away. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa. Risky level gone. I don't think this is a good idea. >> We should sneak away a few nights before sneaking. >> I honestly Hey, we should stick it out. >> I honestly think I mean I honestly think we should leave. It would be a bad idea to stick it out. >> There are more of them than us. That probably won't end well. >> If we're going to do this, we need to do it quickly before they decide to strike. We should probably do it tonight. Also, tonight they're going to be asleep. >> Totally. We're not turning them there. Day. Is that thing? And they'll be asleep at night. Maybe we should leave it like 6 or 8. >>
Why is the time so specific? >> Cuz 6 and 8:00 are period. >> We see a farm animal on the way cuz I was still hungry. >> Last I checked, there supposed to be a full moon. Let's go at midnight. >> Wait a minute. If we go at midnight, we'll And then they'll hear us and then they'll wake up and then they'll be on to us. How about 11 then? Mask is off. It's time to run. We behind the hot dog. Single rain will make a sound. So we're not outnumbered. Now break. We need to choose flight over fight. Clock strength were out of sight. >> We were wrong. They're too strong. We need to go right with the flow. >> Smiles turned upside down. Time to get serious now. >> We had it all.
The case for our m and leave no time to feast on. It's time to run. Leave behind the auto make stronger not now. BREAK out of sight. No advice. >> Really doing this? How are we going to tell Eevee and Wolfie about our plan to run away? >> Well, I don't really think we should tell them because then we have another birthday and we could be seen. Let's just leave them. I think we ditch them. They may have come with the smaller animals. They could tell the other ends and then they could chase us down for escaping. >> That's so rude. >> I'm just kidding. Let's do it. Let's go past and then we can meet up later. If they see us together, they'll know that we're on to them. We should go in different
directions and and then meet up somewhere else. I think we should go super skeley. Tiptoe around, hide behind us, and be quiet. There's no chance of any animal catching. Instead of just going, how about after we separate, we go, we meet up by the lake. >> Whoa, whoa, whoa. What a day. That's why I said we should go super super stealthy. There's no chance of him waking up. >> All right, everyone be back up at the lake at 8:00 tonight. Wolf out. Bridge. >> I guess we could go back. I think the brick house is I miss old steak houses. I feel like we should go back here. Remember the wolves blew down our houses but at least we've been safe in the brick houses. Are you really sure they wanted to eat you? I
think they were trying to be friendly, so we should go back. It's definitely safe. >> Well, they weren't trying to you. He is a liar. >> Well, you are. Should we trust her? >> I'm sure they were just trying to be friendly. You guys are so rude. They just know me because I lived with them for several years. They don't know you, so they were trying to meet you. You're literally one of them. >> And why did they look at our houses? >> I haven't heard any helping lately. Maybe they might have gone away. >> Yeah, I haven't heard any wind in a long time. >> Yeah, they definitely went away. You guys haven't run any wind, so of course I promise you we're going to be safe. I think we can. I'm pretty sure
this popping out of town. >> I see some bird traps next to the paw prints. >> Wolves must have left. I wonder why the left. We didn't do anything to them. >> Well, we did have more though. >> There's more of us and less of them. Maybe we were scared. Mom. >> I mean, we all use cooperation to stand up to them. Think I know they're great. We may be tiny, but we definitely have the power. >> There's totally power celebration. >> Let's celebrate. >> Yay! >> We're safe. How do these little farm animals do this? I have no idea. My friends are so weak. >> We should invite everyone. >> Now we don't have to worry about being attacked because we got >> Wait, where's the tools are down? Maybe we can come to
an agreement. Why would Jake agree with you? If you don't agree with us, you have to leave the town. >> Fine. What do you propose? You and your friend can stay here and be vegetarian. We're just late and never be in our sight again. >> Yes, we have to do all those. >> BUT THAT'S NOT FAIR. I'M HUNGRY. You guys are going to make me walk for miles out of my land just to find something to eat. I've been hungry for years until we came up with this genius plan. And now you guys are turning on me. Be vegetarian. You can stay here if you're vegetarian. You can eat crap like me. If you're vegetarian, they would be happy for you to go. >> You can eat mint leaves. >> Fine. I'll be out by
tomorrow. But I just want one taste to you guys after all this hard work. Just one little just a little tail. I've been so nice to you guys. I helped you build houses. I made whole town for you. I just wanted a little food. It's not like I've done anything bad. I'm a wolf. What did you guys expect? >> You made them out of stick. Your friends. >> You and your friends tonight. >> Did you expect me to change? Did you expect me to be nice to you? I'm a wolf. You never change. So, let me just one of you. Well, you were kind to us and you should be back. So, thankfully you did change. >> She was a truly nice. She was just pretending to be nice. >> I really believed you. But
actually betray us. >> Well, then I'm leaving. Don't expect to be so lucky next time. >> Yay. Sticks and straw. They may fall, but with bricks we stand tall. >> Everybody get a information. BS may come, wolves may go. AS LONG AS WE SAY NO. UNITY. You and me. I said we >> solidarity tricks. Bulls with tricks come with sticks. Come with straw breaking laws. >> We have bricks without tricks. We have laws without >> No. No peace. No peace. No peace. No peace. No peace. No peace. Unity. Solidarity. Everybody, >> everybody in our right information. Stay stand strong. They may fall, but with bricks we stand tall. Wolves may come. Wolves may go. As long as we say no. Unity. You and me. I should be solidarity. Heat. Heat. Heat.
