station operator WPCA. It's open and competitive or was 100% training and experience. Any comments on that either? >> Um this is this is the second time we have posted this position in the last year. Uh this is an additional um body that was funded for this uh fiscal year and into next fiscal year. Um unlike the first time, we got a very good response to the posting and we have a number of candidates that um were able to do very well on the training and experience assessment which in this case was a um a matrix we put together of particular skills. We were looking for experience using mechanical pumps perhaps in uh water treatment u and and that kind of stuff. There were also some specific questions the candidates were asked. Um and so we

have a nice group for the department to pick from. Um and all else is in order with this particular list. >> Okay. Terrific. Any other questions, comments? All right. So, I'll entertain a motion to approve the eligibility list for the sewage pump station operator. >> Thank you, Herb. And a second. Thanks, Michelle. Uh, all in favor signify by saying I or raising your hand. All right. Terrific. Motion carries. Next is a request to approve the eligibility list for custodian of the parks department. It was open and competitive 100% training and experience. Uh Steve, anything about that one? >> Yeah, this was very similar. There was uh two parts to the training and experience assessment. One was a matrix uh where we uh the minimum qualifications what that is that you had to have been a

custodian um for at least two or two years and with some experience in a municipal or board of ed environment um and then beyond that we looked at years of experience and and and we also had a um I think a five questionnaire that they went out where we asked them, "How do you do specific things?" For example, tell me the steps you would take to strip a floor and they had to outline for us, you know, move the furniture, remove the old wax, whatever the whatever the answer is, and they were scored on that. Um, so we had one one individual who met the minimum who did not um qualify based on the matrix and their and their answers to the questions, but everybody else passed. And um, all else is in order with

this particular list. Just so the board knows, we actually have two openings. Um, we had one custodian leave us and another has retired. So, uh, um, we'll be hiring hopefully two people off of this list. >> Okay. Terrific. Any other questions or comments from anyone? All right. Um, uh, I'll entertain a motion to approve the eligibility list for the custodian of the parks department. Um, I'll make that motion. Um, I need a second. Okay. Thank you, Michelle. Um, all in favor of approving the eligibility list, uh, signify by saying I or raising your hand. Very good. Motion passes. Next item on the agenda is a request to advertise and recruit for tradesmen of the HVAC system of the parks department. It is going to be 100% training and experience. Want to talk a little bit

about that, Steve? >> Yep. So this is uh actually a replacement for um the job description that the job which was plumber lead man um that individual was recently promoted to assistant superintendent for the facilities. So Jose is now in charge of making sure that the buildings are up to snuff and the electrical and plumbing within the buildings. So, we need to um hire a replacement. We want that person to have a little bit different background than just plumbing because it's it's more a little it's changed since we hired Jose. So, there you know the basis of the job description is the same. It's in the same pay grade within the same union. Um we do ask for a little bit different background. Um and you will have to have a license. You'll have to

have the proper license and certifications to be to meet the minimum qualifications for the job. >> Can I ask you um if you are um have a Connecticut HVAC license um do you also have to be a plumber or can >> No, I think it's two different things. Um and and remember any large uh construction project or repair project, those are going to be um farmed out to outside contractors, right? >> Well, >> you know what I mean? Like if we're installing new lights in all the offices, which we did a couple years ago, you know, our internal guys aren't going to do that. That's too big of a job. They handle maintenance and repairs in particular emergencies, things that happen kind of routine daytoday. Um, and uh, so the feeling was that someone with

an HVAC background made more sense now that, you know, we've got forced air all year, it's heat in the winter and and air conditioning in the summer. And that is a major piece of every building that the the town has. Okay, thank you. Um, any other questions or comments? All right, seeing none, um, I need a motion to advertise and recruit for the tradesmen of HVAC for the parks department. >> So move. >> Thank you, Herb. And, uh, seconded, anyone? I'll second that motion. Um, all in favor of uh advertising and recruiting for the tracement position signify by saying I or raising your hand. Excellent. Motion carries. We are moving right along here. Um, no transfer list this month, right, Steve? >> That is correct. There were no requests to be added to the transfer

list this month. >> Okay, great. and any questions or comments about the new hire report that was included in the uh packet. >> So, just for the benefit of of Lauren in particular and maybe Herb, I don't know if Herb's seen this before. So, this is not anything that the board needs to act on. at the request of the board um I was asked to prepare uh on and I and I don't necessarily have it for every meeting but prepare a report that shows all the hiring that we've done through the civil service process. We do it for a running 12 months. So you'll see this goes back to March of 2025 and takes us up to um uh to February. The the the one two three four the the fifth column there kind of

tells you the hire date, right? So um as I noted, we're replacing the the person who's now the assistant superintendent of maintenance. That that's what we just talked about, right? So, he was hired, he was promoted in February. Um, we do have some other hires coming up and um happy to answer any questions. Uh, that's on the list. I usually I don't include the person's name, but we do put the title, when we posted it, and what um type of CSB approved test method we used to create the list. Um I also want to comment about the fact that when we have the internal promotion the one for the tax collector posted from and the posted to dates are not there but on the highway department they are how does that how come the internal

>> Well the tax collector um the tax collector is not a civil service that's an appointment >> right? So I probably shouldn't have actually put it on the list. >> Okay. So that's my bad. >> Uh because that's that's appointed by the first select, >> right? Okay. Thank you. I Okay. I didn't like >> Yep. >> did not dawn on me. Okay. Very good. Any other questions or comments about this? All right. So, uh I'm going to entertain a motion to adjurnn. >> Make a motion. >> Want to Thank you, Michelle. And a second. Oh, I see Lauren is dying to get off the website. Oh, she wants to stay on forever. >> Yeah, right. All right. Thank you all very much. Um, >> you have to take them. You have to vote on the

motion to >> I I'm about to do that. All in favor of the motion to adjurnn signified by saying I or raising your hand. Terrific. Thank you very much everyone. Um, >> thanks everybody. >> Yes. Thank you. Can I >> Welcome Lauren. Here we go. This is great. We're all We're so close to five. I could feel it. Um, off the record, can I ask you, Tom, what's the next big event? >> Um, we have Barnum Bingo coming up. >> When is that? >> April 22nd.
