Herb and seconded by Michelle I see. Uh all in favor uh say I or raise your hand. All right. Uh motion is approved. >> Oh, I see. Uh all in favor? >> Uh I don't know. I'm kind of getting an echo here. Um next is the general public comments and questions. Um I'm not sure if there's anybody who uh from the general public. If there is, we will stop the meeting and uh listen to what they have to say. Uh moving on to item number four, uh the new business. First item is a request to approve the eligibility list for the administrative assistant uh temps. Um, Steve, anything to say about that or should we go ahead with the motion? You're muted. >> Thank you. Yes, I am. Uh, so, uh, this was a three-part

exam. This was the second time we've done this. The first list we had was exhausted, um, uh, without finding a candidate. So, we redid it. Uh it was based 40% on an assessment of training and and experience, 20% on a uh computer skills and then 40% on an oral exam where the uh candidates in the who had done well in the first two sections uh came in and then were scored on an oral exam. Uh other than that, all else is in order with the list. >> Okay. Very good. So, a I will make the motion to approve the eligibility list for the administrative assistant for TE's. Um, do I have a second? Thank you, Michelle. Um, all in favor of approving the eligibility list, signify by raising your hand or saying I. Thank you.

Motion approved. Uh, next item is the request to approve the eligibility list for the administrative assistant pension and budget in the finance department. Uh, Steve, any comments? >> Um, so this is a similar exam other than uh we did not do an oral portion for it, but this is the way we've done several other admin positions reason most recently recently. Sorry. Um, this is a position was opened due to a retirement in the late fall and and it's the person who works with pension and budget and is actually the person this position is the the person you go see when you're ready to retire and start collecting a pension. They do other things besides that because uh that's not full-time. But um and it was a combination again of training experience assessment and computer skills.

>> Okay. Uh a motion to approve the eligibility list for the administrative assistant uh with the pension and budget in the finance department. >> So moved. >> Uh thank you Herb. And a second Michelle. Great. Uh all in favor signify by saying I or raising your hand. I >> and motion was approved. >> Great. Next is a request to advertise and recruit for non-competitive entrylevel maintainer 2 in the highway and parks department. >> I have >> So this is our >> Go ahead. >> Yeah. >> What does non-competitive mean? It means that there won't be an exam for this because it's considered an entrylevel position. Okay, >> that answers my question. Thank you. >> And and I I was just going to remind the board that this is our entrylevel position for all of our

parks and our highway department maintainer positions, right? This this is how you get into the town, if you will. So we we do this generally speaking about once a year because we use it to feed both the highway department when we have openings at levels above and there are promotions and uh feed the parks department and we know we have at least one opening already in parks and you know come the spring we'll we may get additional openings. So um in this in this particular uh so again we we've done this every year for the last uh four years put this up and this is how we feed the the two departments. >> Okay. Terrific. Thank you. Good question. Um so a motion to advertise and recruit for the non-competitive entrylevel maintainer 2 uh position

under the highway and parks department. Uh, I'll make that motion. Second, Michelle. Thank you very much. Uh, all in favor signify by saying I or raising your hand. Great. >> Uh, motion carries. Okay. The next request is to advertise and recruit for custodian. Uh, that's the parks maintenance department. It is open and competitive. Um, I'm sure that's supposed to say training. 100% training and experience. >> Yes, that's what it should say. >> Let's say raining. It should not say raining. >> You were anticipating today's weather. I know. >> There you go. >> Okay. Uh, talk a little bit about that. >> Sure. So, this is a um the uh we actually have two open positions. We had uh an individual who uh is retiring as well as someone who was who uh left us um

recently. Uh so we're we're literally down to no custodians. Um so we've done this uh I believe the last time we did this was probably just when I got here, so early probably late in 2022. Uh we're going to do it the same way which is um there's a list of questions that are at the end of the application um that we'll use for u the basis of the the training and experience assessment and um and hopefully we can get this job filled relatively quickly. >> Okay. All right. Very good. So, uh, welcome Alice. And, uh, uh, uh, I need a motion to, uh, for the request to advertise and recruit for custodian in the parks maintenance department. It is open and competitive. A motion, please. >> Moved. >> Thank you, Alice. A second. All

right. Her. Um, all in favor, uh, signify by saying I or raising your hand. Thank you. Motion carries. I'm looking at Alice. I don't know. >> Sorry. >> Oh, no. Okay. Motion carries. >> Sorry. >> No problem. Um and uh next item on the agenda is the approval of the transfer list requests. Uh there are two. Uh Steve, anything to say about >> Yeah, I mean nothing unusual about this. These are two people that um you know are in administrative type positions and I think basically the union has told them, hey, if you want to be uh considered for promotion internally, you should have your name on the list. Yes. And then if something comes up you like you can, you know, compete for it. If you're not on the transfer list, you can't do

it. So, I think these are just two more people that are taking advantage of that. I don't think there's anything else other than that behind it. >> Can I ask you since we like the U transfer list and um is it being used like are people is that where they're getting their promotions? >> We've gotten a couple. We we that is how we got somebody for the tax uh collector's office. Okay. We have had um people who have been interviewed because remember the transfer list doesn't >> right >> guarantee you anything. It simply guarantees you an opportunity. So at the library position if you remember there's a couple library positions open. Both of those had internal candidates that they have interviewed and decided not to hire. Okay. But yes, we are using it. The first

step in any of the admin jobs before I actually uh post it or simultaneously with posting it is I'll send the an email around. I give people a week to uh tell me yes, I'm interested and if they're if they're interested, then the name goes to the department head and they get interviewed. >> Good. >> So, it's working. >> Yes. Great. Okay. Thank you. >> Everybody, frankly, everybody's happy with it. I think it it made things simpler in the tax department because there was somebody ready to step in and I think the union and and the individuals in the bargaining unit just think it's a fairer way to go. >> Well, it's opportunity for people who work. >> Yeah. No, I think it's it was it's worked out very well. >> Good. Uh so, I'm

going to make the motion to approve the transfer list. Uh, can I have a second, please? >> Second. >> Thank you, Herb. And, uh, all in favor signify by saying I or raising your hand. Thank you, everyone. Motion approved. >> Um, and I there's no report for the hiring. So, >> all right. I I did not do a report for this month. I'll have one for now. >> Okay. Yep. All right. Thank you very much. And without any further questions or comments, uh, we will have a motion to adjourn. I will make that motion. And I see that it is seconded by Alice. All in favor, say I or raise your hand. Thank you so much. All right. Very good. And uh, we will make a uh, rendevu a meeting day at another time. >>

Thank you all for your help today as usual. And we do appreciate the uh cooperation of everybody. It's great. >> All right. >> Have a good day. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Bye everybody. >> Take care.
