I'm going to call the committee of the whole meeting on August 9th um to open. I forgot my word and it's 608. First order uh first order of business is for the approval of the committee the whole meeting minutes of July 12th. Rosemary has a motion. Do I have a second? Okay, we have second it. Um, do I have any on it? Hearing none. All those in favor of accepting the whole meeting minutes of July 12th to 12, 2021, all say I oppose. Abstain. All right. >> Question. We actually had a year meeting or something last week. We did something. That was our regular board of that meeting. That was a day of the whole meeting last week. >> Meetings from that. So we had the Palestinian. >> No, no, I'm talking about the one

that was, you know, we we all met Mike and his family and then we actually talked about schools and everything else. Yeah. >> Was the last Monday of July? The last one >> the 26. Thank you. >> Yes, he was here. >> And that's that's a good segue is that we're going to ask for Rex to come in and talk a lot. to the table. Okay. I was telling this building trees grass We're in the process of pulling that oution really. You probably heard propertile the school both elementary schools we did file and claim the insurance company looking at it got really it's not working and that's you know that issue how it happened so we've chosen to go forward basically require replacement of all the time initial now they have good just like any

other and we're going the man right now the cost is probably $350 million on each school budget item So right now at color for example the emphasis the color school expect all the way down expecting forward today large. So they're working on first How far is available? [Music] That's our goal as far as otherwise um there are some say the other the other main problem is that the ballistic boards that are part of the entryway the best will inside doors door office area that's been delayed parts probably some time material issues. So what we'll end up doing temporary sufficient requirements put in place. So the material materials come in not to interfere with this other wall. So those are are going on construction this week. So that will certainly right now they're not till the

very last week And after I think those are the three pieces here. So it was kind of like any project you would expect it much states that [Music] have been inspected. years have official city on Wednesday. So those are the just highlight questions tiles tiles. No wax at the elementary school. Okay. Sort of a change in philosophy a little bit more like clean water heavy or big capability to do that color change Eastern water barrier. Different contractors. The only thing is the same out. Yeah. >> With us moving forward. Do we lose the insurance stuff? >> Uh, no. We had to we actually had to insurance. We like they were pretty good. >> So, one of the um the good thinking of um was when we knew the importance would be the first week and

Tom I think Kennedy kind of work together and they have extra projectors that they can put up so that they can >> so we can get those out to the classroom so they can still use their flip charts and you know do some of that work but we don't also have to teach the kids in front of a kids at home Um, so they they're good, you know, problem solving. They kind of came together. So right now questions I think we're going to take a walk. >> Any questions for Sick? >> Thank you. for us. >> All right, review anything else for facility. >> Please, please. While the removal of the title very well title company I have a great suspicion whether it be done on time or not. And so try to keep them

concentrated some of the tile here, but there's still plenty of tile be We're on a case where I go to aggressively. There's something about tiles. I can say that too. >> Thank you. Is there other good news for the facilities? >> Actually, we're also doing a fire alarm project at the Charles Brown School. That project was going to be done on time. Of course, the closing of the other schools as a matter of time now moving those items out of the old schools into the new schools and he's done with that team to rearrange robotics into that building as quickly as possible. Thank you. Thank you for you and your crew working so hard on that. >> All right. So, I'll let pull up um is able to put it on. Oh, that means I

got to zoom in. Zoom. >> Oh, he did. He's not zoomed. >> If I zoom down. >> So, I think um what he's gonna pull up is actually the document that was the attachment number two for you guys to take a look at on how we This is the story of the three. I love that that's a one that's a two and that's a three and the buckets that they have prioritized that we must these are the priorities of you know basically the federal government and you can see that we really look for sustainability and our sustainability is in the way of building capacity with professional learning for our teachers um providing things that we need right now more tutors, more substitutes, more people during this postcoavid time and still co time so that we

can support our kids in the classroom. But with the reality that in hopes that we are able to accelerate learning, you know, by 2024, which we have this grant all the way through 2024, we'll be able to really then go back to normal have all those positions in place. Um it also has over a chunk of the work for family and community and um you know looking at our career pathway especially is part of that food service and that piece of equipment with that in the side of it and it serves the community. So it's really important for us to go and purchase was it a stove or and you know for additional communications and marketing. One of the things that we know to be true that we want correct is that kids coming from

the middle school to the high school really don't know all those opportunities and the kids coming from the elementary to the middle school don't realize that. So I really want to see this brochures and counselors and all the you know families being able to really understand what has to provide for their kids so that they know earlier on so that and and that we have you know kids know early on what are some of the places they can go even though we say we want them college and career ready. My idea is we want them to know what they're really good at and what they love to do so that they find that career and it might not just be one career but find that place that they want to go and that might they

might have to get there with additional education and that could be a four-year college that could be four-year college ads or it could be a trade school or it might be a new innovative business that they go into with something else attached. So there's so many ways that kids get there and I think that so much of the the process we got to get to knowledge which is not true that there are lots of different love to see them have more education after so that education look different so I think the more about those options for them some of those options we don't even know you know And then the whole idea of social emotional learn that's our second science bucket but that's um you know adding to the the operating budget under so that

we can really do some things during this time whether it's books whether it's getting multiple in whether it's you know that coordination increase that coordination um and and make sure that our counselors and our social workers and our school sites all have that professional learning that will sustain us into the future so we don't have to bring outside companies in or outside organizations in that will be able to look at oh and we got um in our title one school we've had tutors and they usually are certified teachers or students who want to go into education They sometimes come with a lot of training whether it's ABA or you know they take care of us and then they've gotten a bachelor's degree and they've had training or we provide training they really understand how to

deescalate behavior and they they're part of the team when it's needed or they'll be able to outreach and work under the social worker to help support small groups with the social worker or support connecting families. So to have an extra person on that team um is going to be really supportive and it seemed highly coordination of that you know someone who um would be paid to oversee the program and what happens. Um, and then of course there's your technology development and making sure we don't have to provide and so you see we're really doing that analysis on softwares um that's going to be ongoing this year now that we have Dr. Kennedy and um it's a great collaborative project with um student data manager and Kennedy and he knows all the other side of the

software. So really looking at all of our software to decide what's most efficient and effective and then um support for our teachers. You know they get these new boards um they don't know how to turn it on. iPad and I try to turn it on and sometimes it jumps on and sometimes it doesn't. So, I haven't had any professional development either, but um but that should happen. I mean, it's very frustrating for a teacher to have this new device and not be able to use it or they get training not just in time, you know, maybe too far ago or they have to wait to get it. So, we really want to be on that. Um and then you know looking at our grants coordinator um and having coordination for this particular grant. So Shannon

is going to be able to help support that and we'll be able to fund this grant with that and to get outside. So we're making sure that we're evaluating this correctly. the goal of it which I just passed out the smart goals again I see my other goals how they tied in with these smart goals and um you know that's going to have to be so get an outd I had an organization like do it so that you know the data won't be tainted at all. You know it'll be really clean data and we'll get the real true story which I think is really important for us. And then devices and hotspots. Um, one of the things that was asked about partnering with um, the town or the city is is there a way that

we could provide, you know, access to Wi-Fi like in our parking lot or, you know, in, you know, or like is there a way that we can provide for that neighborhood, you know, and maybe that's a partnership kind of thing or even I know that I think their family unit, their family center has some Wi-Fi and I know take care of that for their folks. So just looking at what the needs are the hot spots most effective are they position way to do this or is there another way and you know it I think um I talked to you about the additional TC teachers college that development on reading and writing class. So you know doing that reading and researching and social studies science so that they're really kids are getting they do get reading

and writing everywhere they go but to have the teachers have more training in that so that they can be more effective in the teaching and writing everywhere those kids go I think it's going to make a big difference and then um our safe and healthy schools and we're keeping some of those extra custodians and I mean I think we all feel much better. obviously cleaned and even though they said they don't know how highly effective it's been for deep cleaning or they don't even want to call it deep cleaning but the high touch cleaning I you know we had food along with less co you know schools and I just have to think that that had to help you know areas that are touched [Music]
