me i'd like to uh call tonight's meeting to order so uh starter thanks everybody for coming out tonight um our first agenda item is matters from the floor so comments from the floor this is a time for the school board to hear citizens we will conduct this period in an orderly and respectful manner there are 13 citizens who have signed up to speak and each person will have three minutes at the conclusion of all speakers i as chairman will make a statement on behalf of the board ms mcclanahan the first speaker rick elkins superintendent johnson board members again come before you in the interest of transparency the students parents and citizens of campbell county deserve and want this in the july board meeting the level of discourse that was present it promised me to come
back in august and request that the meetings of this school board be video recorded and put online for the review of the community as well as having a letter sent from dr johnson to both the media print and broadcast stating the positions which the school board decided to take i was given an opportunity after the meeting to speak with superintendent johnson in our discussion i was informed that the resources necessary for this to take place were in fact being procured and they should be put in place later this year i see the signs at the door saying it is being recorded i hope it will be posted for these efforts i am thankful to the superintendent i look forward to the benefits that this will bring to the community parents students and citizens i also
had the opportunity to speak with concord district board member barry jones who told me that the school board does not intend on breaking the law and being subject to any type of lawsuit as a result i again expounded to him my request to the board that the meetings be recorded for the citizens providing transparency and in no way did i request nor imply that the law be broken in john chapter 8 verse 32 jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free it was true and spoken and it is true today transparency should be sought after and encouraged never feared i again will ask that the positions taken by this board be sent proactively to media both print and broadcast so the campbell county community may stay current on the
actions of this board and this will help to alleviate any rumor cause through the absence of the fact i offer up campbell county schools policy manual section k school community relations title media relations code kbc which reads media releases by the school are encouraged as a means of informing the public of programs activities and accomplishments staff members are encouraged to participate in activities that inform the public about school programs and activities webster's dictionary defines policy a definite course or method of action selected among alternatives in light of conditions to guide and determine present and future decisions in both july and august individuals were turned away from addressing the board per campbell county school board policy which was adopted in june of 2003. going forward i would hope that campbell county school board policy on contacting
the media which was adopted january of 2005 would be followed in both spirit and letter in the interest of transparency for the community thank you thank you mr elkins [Applause] hello everybody thanks to everyone for being here my name is anne parker and i live at 615 collington drive in lynchburg virginia 24502 i still have two students at brookville high school in the past meetings from numerous speakers oh by the way i want to let you know i did submit a mask waiver and that my kids submitted and was accepted we've been providing you evidence that masks do not prevent transmission of any virus this evidence included references from the cdc that shows zero scientific evidence masks reduce transmission why aren't you focusing on that you're focusing on the cdc's revised recommendation that our children
should wear face coverings not the facts and that they don't help at all and all of that is on the same website on the cdc websites very easy to find also you're listening to the virginia department of education and i want to give another quote that i've said before this is found on page seven of the navigating ed equity handbook and i quote identifying and dismantling all iterations of racism and inequity that permeate our public education system so they're publicly documenting and claiming on behalf of you and all of us that our school systems are permeated with racism but they themselves are asking our children to identify themselves by race why are you taking any direction from these people i'd like to remind everyone here that mandates are not laws these mandates are also unconstitutional
remember our own code of virginia and i quote a parent has the fundamental right to make decisions concerning the upbringing education and care of the parent's child since you guys cited risk as a reason for masking our children i'd like to propose a solution hold harmless agreements you oh i'm sorry the hold harmless agreements would release you from all liability for those who choose to breathe freely while in your care the hospitality industry i just signed one last monday myself at a hotel hospitality industry and countless businesses are using these why aren't we there are two options i think that should be considered one have folks sign the hold harmless agreement for weight of the waivers for in-person instruction and have masks be optional or opt-in for virtual learning i know this takes time to
implement i've actually prepared a whole harmless draft and it's available upon your request i also think that everyone here who agrees with my position would be excited to see this become effective on january 1st we ask you to do what's right and stand up for our teachers staff and students thank you so much [Applause] thank you ms parker next up mr clinton david gifford david gifford let my people go in january of 2020 about the same time we were first learning about covet 19 the u.s supreme court struck down the decision by the montana supreme court montreal was trying to violate the free exercise of religion clause by preventing religious schools and parents from receiving public benefits because of the religious character of their school i don't have time right now to discuss this liamar
case but effectively rendered virginia's blame amendment unconstitutional tonight we need to reflect upon the upon the divine providence that correlated the timing of this u.s supreme court case with the outbreak of covet 19. when we pledge to the u.s flag every day in the public schools we conclude with one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all our nation has seen these and other good words and our constitution accomplished many good things slaves were freed minorities were recognized as equals women were given the right to vote the poor were fed and the disabled adults and students were benefited sadly these same good words were used to legalize activities that were traditionally considered sinful abortion gambling and pornography to name a few at first america's love for liberty and justice brought about positive change
but a growing trend has been using the ideals of liberty and justice to undermine christian values in 1905 the secular humanists published a manifesto that included the removal of christianity from public schools they succeeded in this in the early 60s by removing teacher-led bible teaching and teacher-led prayer from government-sponsored schools some of the schools in the south continue this for a certain length of time and the only vestige of this is often a moment of silence even holidays such as christmas and easter have been degraded to winter and spring break the secular humanists have had their turn and the results have not been good now it is time for christians to claim their rights our constitution is clear congress or any or any state can make no law respecting an establishment of the religion but
neither they can prohibit the free exercise of the religion tonight we need to hear the words of supreme court justice john roberts who wrote the majority opinion in the montana case he wrote disqualifies disqualifying otherwise eligible recipients from a public benefit solely because of their religious character imposes a penalty on the free exercise of religion that triggers the most exacting scrutiny montana's no aid provision bars religious schools from public benefits solely because of the religious character of the schools the provision also bars parents who wish to send their children to religious school for those same benefits again solely because of the religious character of the school this is apparent from the plain text robert's words the most exacting scrutiny need special emphasis if someone claims that their god their religion requires something them who are
you to judge if someone claims that god wants them to rob someone or rape someone is that is a clear violation of that other person's right to liberty and justice but if a healthy person says that wearing a mask is against their religion we must believe them if they are contagious we can ban them from a public gathering but if they are healthy we must not treat them as if they were contagious we must not punish the righteous with the wicked people can volunteer to wear a mask or volunteer to get a vaccine but treating a healthy person as if they were contagious violates their liberty it robs them of justice it robs them of their life personally i wear a mask in lcs schools and i received my first vaccine today i did do
not did not do this because of people like dr fouchy or president biden my daughter is a nurse and she advised me to get a shot president trump who fast tracked the vaccine advises everyone to get one but he says it should sorry time's up thank you [Applause] hey my name is eve reinert i live at 582 village highway westbrook virginia as a graduate of rustburg high school a virginia tech hokey and a retired army police officer having read mark levin's book army marxism excuse me american marxism i believe our nation is under attack from an ideology that is profoundly different from that out of our patriotic forefathers who were grounded in godly principles this strange mindset has been approved at national and state levels and i stand with others trusting that we can keep
it from local levels in our schools where the intent is to train our children to believe in marxist ideals my issues of concern tonight are interaction with the public and the upcoming election interaction with the public sub point a this venue change announcement within days of today's meeting i am thankful for our change and venue to this location after months of asking for all to hear and see everyone and everything that transpires versus being separated in an overflow room where many were never seen could not see or hear due to space space constraints and technical difficulties however publicizing this decision so late could have tax paying citizens at campbell county technical center tonight and this may be a splintered representation of the community that wanted to participate will future meetings continue to be held here
at rusburg high school auditorium so point b agenda is not out early enough for each month's school board agenda to not be put out for public review weeks ahead of the meeting in order to know what this board intends to cover and whether or not as a citizen he or she wants to speak or attend is problematic currently the agenda is not released electronically until friday after the noon suspense for the public to call in to sign up to speak this list of people is not printed on the agenda or what they plan to speak on and therefore does not constitute a reason for the rest of the agenda to be held for release the list of speakers and their topics is a separate document all together never released to the public the agenda should
be produced two weeks before the scheduled meeting sub point c time limit is too short for the public to speak the three-minute time limit is too short it should be extended to five minutes questions asked should be answered that night d lack of trust and county leadership making decisions without county input specifically the vape shop that is currently located across from the middle school roseburg middle school and parents teach dare which is drug and alcohol resistance education vaping is an addictive mind-altering drug that harms adolescent brain development and controls attention learning mood and impulse control and the handling of the 1919 school destruction that is planned in the reconstruction of roseburg middle school the public's thoughts in the petition were disregarded the last point the upcoming election early voting begins this friday and runs through
november first at the registrar's office i encourage everyone to get out and vote thank you mr reiner next speaker mrs mcleodhan rob ross rob ross rob ross here tonight okay next speaker mr puntham jeremiah melvin 206 village terrace concord good evening i am speaking to you tonight on an older rarely taught christian doctrine known as the doctrine of the lesser magistrate i believe it is vital for people in general but especially our local leaders to be reminded what this doctrine is in truth our nation was founded because of this doctrine from the writings of the reformer john calvin to the political and spiritual reformation in scotland and england through people like john knox and samuel rutherford we find this doctrine taking shape john locke took this christian doctrine and secularized it and it is the
writings of locke that were so influential upon our founding fathers such as thomas jefferson and ben franklin then there was the black robe regiment which was a society of christian ministers around the time of the american revolution who by their understanding of this teaching encourage the people to stand up for their rights and make a defense against a tyrannical government our nation was founded because of this christian doctrine so what is the doctrine of the lesser magistrate in short it is the teaching that when a government becomes tyrannical no longer protecting the right god-given rights of man acting as if it is the source of those rights it is the duty and the responsibility of those in law enforcement and lower or lesser political positions to stand up and defend the people this means that
it is your duty as the school board to heed the call of parents and defend the children of this county against a state and national government which is overreaching its bounds this is what our founding fathers did when they wrote the declaration of independence they were not cowards who said their hands were tied they behaved like men and stood up boldly against tyranny to defend the people we see examples of this doctrine all over scripture from the hebrew midwives in egypt refusing to murder babies at the command of pharaoh to daniel and esther who stood for their faith and their people while being both a part of a foreign government and defying its policies the apostles likewise made their stand against jewish leaders choosing to obey god rather than tyrannical men we continue to see
the abort reign of our state and federal government new edicts coming near every week so i call you to here to heed the warning of mordecai esther's uncle don't think that you will escape the fate of all the jews because you are in the king's palace if you keep silent at this time relief and deliverance will come to the jewish people from another place but you and your father's family will be destroyed who knows perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this like esther you have been appointed a position by the providence of god and given a duty to use that position to protect the rights of these parents and children and to heed their call to help defend their children from a communistic government agenda know this if
you stand for our god-given rights people in this county will stand with you if not then who are you but benedict arnold's traitors to the parents of this county who elected you [Applause] thank you do i really have to go after that guy i mean that was that's kind of tough my name is dr phil stevens and i get to be the pastor of windfall baptist church i'm also a father of two students who are enrolled here at rusburg high school one of them is actually graduating this year and i couldn't be more prouder as a pastor i speak against sin at my church not just because i love god but because i have seen sin destroy families communities and even countries it is for all three of these institutions that i'm here today to
speak against critical race theory in the race racism it promotes at the fundamental core of crt is racism a hatred for others simply based on the color of their skin it has even gone so far as to make people feel guilty for the sins of others who lived hundreds of years before them the end result of racism will go far beyond simply bullying cussing someone out or even fighting history has revealed and proven over and over again that racism ultimately leads to death on the other hand our beloved declaration of independence reminds us of a more excellent value that all men are created equal and endowed with certain unalienable rights life liberty and the pursuit of happiness beyond even that god has created everyone in his image and his love for all mankind is so
great that he died to set us free god now ask us to love others just as he has loved us it has been reported to me that no vote or decision has been officially reached by this board because there are no known places where crt or racism has been found within the curriculum this of course begs the question why not be proactive why not send a message to the parents in this room and assure us that this hateful ungodly philosophy has no place in our schools why not show leadership why not do what over 20 governors across the country have already done and stop it before it ever gets a foothold i pray that every school board across this great commonwealth would send a message loud and clear to richmond and the department of education
that crt or any form of it whatsoever has no place in our schools proverbs 14 23 righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people thank you thank you mr steve thanks speaker crystal cohen crystal coming goody excuse me good evening i am crystal coleman from alta vista virginia i have spoken to you many times all in a dignified and respectful manner i will keep that countenance this evening despite the comments that need to be made first as a taxpayer and ardent supporter of our schools i expect complete and concrete answers to the questions i posed at the last meeting a canned generic comment made by the board chairman isn't cutting it that merely demonstrates a lack of communication and transparency second to the board member who rudely scoffed at me and
dismissed me with a why are you giving me this as i handed out information on critical race theory prior to the last board meeting i say i am a professional and a woman who has been a dedicated and respected employee of this school system for the past 22 years i am not therefore going to play that good old boy junk had i been a man you would have shaken my hand taken the information and said thank you underestimate me as a woman and let's see how much fun that will be and lastly the disgust that has been weighing on me since last month's board meeting to the board member who proclaimed that this board was not going to draw a line in the sand as there was no reason to draw attention to our county
let some other county do it i say thank god the 40 brave souls on flight 93 knew how to draw a line in the sand in shanksville pennsylvania every member of this board was elected by us the people you serve at our discretion and serve to represent us your job is precisely to draw a line in the sand if that is what is needed to protect our students from whatever the threat might be i know what it is like to serve on various boards it's often thankless and overwhelming yet this board has a responsibility that requires a continuous effort to be aware and thoroughly knowledgeable knowledgeable about all the issues impacting public education and how these issues become quickly embedded into the school system the days of board members only commenting on sports games back
to school nights and movie and popcorn night in a school are over these are all wonderful things to share but more is needed much more with all due respect this community will be watching who can make this a judgment adjustment and who cannot 35 percent of the taxes that we pay to this county go to the schools let's not forget what happened the last time the people of this land experience taxation without representation thank you god bless [Music] god bless the children of this community and god bless america [Applause] thank you miss i asked the audience to please keep your response to a minimum to allow other speakers to proceed so thank you miss mcclanahan very tiring i'm sorry very tiring [Applause] good evening barry tyree 286 leesville hills road in edmonton i very much
appreciate the dilemma in which the school board finds itself the tyrant would be king governor has issued an edict that requires you to violate the constitutional rights of campbell county students and their parents by mandating the wearing of a cloth or paper air restriction device over their respiration systems also as i understand it the county's insurance provider is a hindrance to you to find the would-be king's orders the people of campbell county are not the cause of your dilemma this dilemma is the direct result of an overbearing government and the monetary concerns of the insurance provider nobody has the authority to make me my children or my grandchildren cover our breathing holes with any restrictions restrictive device whatsoever ever god gave us the breath of life and by god i intend to breathe it without
restriction you are public servants to the people of campbell county you represent us not the governor not the attorney general you did not sign up to fight unconstitutional edicts issued by richmond i understand if you do not possess the necessary fortitude to stand up to richmond on behalf of the people of campbell county i urge you all to resign we will replace you with someone who does have the required fortitude to fight richmond if on the other hand you are willing to fight for your constituents rest assured there are many of us a bunch of us right behind me who will have your back we will fight with you and for you this is a winnable battle the goochman county school board has just written a letter to the governor and the attorney general stating
that the goochman school board is refusing to abide by the governor's edicts i quote according to article roman numeral 8 section 7 of the constitution of virginia the supervision of schools in each school division shall be vested in a school board to convince to be composed of members selected in a manner for the term possessing the qualifications and to the number provided by law a further quote we believe senate bill 1303 passed by the general assembly and signed into law by governor northam is unconstitutional in its current form the law oversteps the authority granted to school boards by the constitution this law is just one of many examples of government overreach that infringes upon our ability to make local decisions for our community you have the responsibility to adhere to the demands of the people
of campbell county we the people will not go away we will not forget we will hold each of you accountable as far as crt my time's running out i will leave you with this if some gender-confused boy goes in the bathroom while my granddaughter is in there you won't have to handle it the sheriff's department won't have to handle it i will handle it thank you mr tarry i'm sorry wes gardner [Applause] wes gardner 69 gracie court evington i don't like coming to these types of things not because the topics are unimportant they most certainly are important but not because of the time involved we've all spent plenty of wasted time with our faces stuffed in our phones no i don't like coming to these things because i don't like getting live too last month
we were all told about a number of emails from proponents of masking our children against the will of their parents however the email addresses for the school board members isn't even listed on the website so something that uh i believe should definitely be remedied but by doing my civic duty i filed a freedom of information act request for any and all emails referencing masks for all my due diligence i only found six emails who were pro mask or anti-parent is what i'm gonna call them now the reason i say anti-parent most importantly is because most of these emails out of these six were from teachers they weren't from parents and what i found when i looked into these teachers was that some of them are running side hustle selling masks so not shocked why they
might want masks but more concerning more concerning to me was the fact that the emails from the parents existed parents who emailed their representatives on the school board parents who all shared the same concern for their child's well-being and safety and all who stated the choice to mask falls with the parents the same as the overwhelming crowd seen here right now and seen last month parents want mass voluntary as they should be but these parents were ignored then they were lied to the school board had their mind made up and neglected to represent those who they serve richmond doesn't represent campbell county you do if richmond's going to call us shots then the county should dissolve this board whole thing because it serves no other purpose and act as a go-between or a middle man
that is not how a constitutional republic works is not a democracy it's a constitutional republic so i would strongly suggest this board represent the people of campbell county and reverse their previously flawed decision to mandate masks because this is clearly what the people of campbell county want [Applause] thank you miss gardner thank you speaker mr mcqueen rusty elliott rusty elliott [Applause] good evening i'm not sure that there's anything else i could say regarding masks critical racist theory or whatever you want to call it or transgender bathrooms that's going to change anybody's minds all three of these issues are meant to divide we the people just because a rogue state or federal administration or sublet thereof issues a mandate or better yet let's just call it for what it is an edict it doesn't mean that
it has to has to be followed it takes men and women of courage to stand up to tyranny and to say no romans 12 2 says do not be conformed to this age but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may discern what is good pleasing and perfect will of god do any of you honestly believe you're following the will of god with us because you're not following our will i graduated from brookville in 1995. this is not the county that i grew up in or identify with we the people keep being told to accept and embrace the culture the leftists are promoting to move towards it i'm here to say no no you move dr miller a couple meetings ago made a condescending comment that we are preaching to the
choir and that we should address richmond with these issues well guess what we are but we are also addressing you as well since you folks are our elected representatives our expectation is that each one of you stand up for the will of the people and not the department of education or the state or the federal government or a union our forefathers did not create this great nation and fight for it to be turned over to cowards one of our previous speakers mentioned not wanting to break the law if our forefathers had that mentality we'd all be british now mr jones you are my representative for the concord district my expectation is that you step up and speak out against this garbage that's being pushed on our kids if you're not willing to i would ask
that you resign and allow someone with the courage and convictions to represent concord if not i'm the guy that will be working to find your replacement up to and including running for your seat [Applause] finally if the board is being threatened with lawsuits from richmond or elsewhere you're responsible for letting us know that i'm not scared of richmond or any other government entity i will stand by anyone that is willing to do what is right by our kids and by our constitution i would imagine there are others here tonight that will stand with you against this tyranny if there is anyone here willing to stand up with the school board against this nonsense would y'all please stand up so they can see mr elliott i forgot one thing in the beginning my name is rusty
elliott 251 stepping stone road lynchburg virginia concord district [Applause] thank you mr elliott listen klinan next speaker dan abbott dan abbott [Applause] i do want to uh thank you guys for moving the venue we appreciate that um it is absolutely imperative that you guys as representatives of us give the people their opportunity to petition their re petition their government for redress of grievances this is the appropriate place appropriate time and the appropriate way for that to happen and we appreciate you guys flexing and moving the venue so that that could happen thank you i'm not sure how i'm supposed to follow that app to be honest with you um there is an unbelievably well-educated and articulate group of people behind me and i pretty much heard the same thing from all of them i don't
need to get up here and make a case for morality i don't need to explain why masked mandates are wrong i don't need to explain why critical race theory is wrong i don't need to explain any of that but there does seem to be a disconnect as far as our understanding of the purpose of government and we have a founding document it's actually been quoted a couple of times tonight and uh it actually tells us what the purpose of government is says uh let me come back to that in a minute i was having a discussion with somebody the other day about possibly moving to other states because they like the governor in texas or they like desantis in florida and this gentleman said to me said you know what he said if i knew
what i knew or what i know about campbell county and the people that live here and those that represent us here he said i would move from texas or florida to here to be represented by these people because it is so much more important that those lesser magistrates that you guys and those that sit on our board of supervisors in the sheriff's department all of those deputies and wit stand with their people and represent them well and we have that here you know i constantly hear tyrant and you know whatever else communist marxist slung around i'll be honest with you i don't believe that that's true i think that everyone sitting up here in my opinion is probably a conservative christian that's that's just my opinion i think you're being strong armed by richmond and
as rusty just illustrated there are a whole bunch of people here that are willing and eager to stand with you and i will do one better than standing behind you i will stand in front of you if richmond wants to pick this fight they will come through us to get to you that's just the way it is government exists to protect the individual liberty of their people those whom they represent that's why you guys are here i get it nobody here signed up for that kind of fight nobody here ran for school board because they wanted to stand in a courtroom and face the attorney general i'm going to read two quotes really really fast doesn't matter what the mob says doesn't matter what the politician or the mob say doesn't matter if the whole
country decides that something wrong is something right this nation was founded on one principle above all else the requirement that we stand up for what we believe no matter the odds or the consequences when the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move your job is to plant yourself like a tree next to the river of truth and you tell the whole world no you move that's what we expect from you thank you merch [Applause] members of the board good evening nice face masks they're as handsome as they are useless and they're a symbol of your servitude and i don't believe that you represent the people of this county so excuse me for a minute while i can adjust this a little bit and talk to the people with the real
authority [Applause] each and every one of you have the power here each and every one of you with power comes the responsibility of that power you have a responsibility before god to conduct yourselves in a worthy manner in a moral manner before your god as it relates to the public school system this board in general and the times that we're living in they're interesting times aren't they interesting times we see a president who is going to strong-arm its citizens into taking a vaccine and we are seeing governor our very own governor willing to go along with that and we see a school board here who is willing to go along with whatever the governor says it is your responsibility as parents to every parent in here and i say this from parent to parents is
your responsibility as a parent to raise your children to flourish and to be strong and to be bold and to be moral upright citizens in their community and i would argue that this system here in campbell county this public school system regulated by this board will never be able to teach your child to flourish be strong and moral that is the responsibility of each and every parent to raise their children to be responsible moral productive members of their community and if you're upset with what the board's doing here while they're making your kids wear face diapers all they're going to it's coming down the pike they're going to make your kids get a vaccine as soon as it's available you guys have the authority here each and every one of you who is a parent
you have the real authority they don't have the authority they don't have any authority to tell you as a parent this is how your child is going to be raised and raise your children in fear how are they raising are they raising you when they say oh child little johnny stand in a row here space this far apart wear your mask be afraid be very afraid they are raising servants they are raising a generation of servants raise a generation of lions that is your responsibility please i beg you [Applause] first i want to thank everyone who came out tonight and for sharing their concerns this is the third meeting that i've read a statement on behalf of the entire board starting from the beginning first i want to thank everybody for coming out tonight sharing
their concerns this is the third meeting i read a statement on behalf of the entire board the statement was drafted after taking talking with each individual member and getting their input at the last two meetings i stated that this board has not adopted the apartment of the department of education's model policies for the treatment of transgender students nor have they been adopted under the disguise of another policy we have heard your concerns and have taken them into consideration when addressing this issue our current policies are in compliance and we can continue and we plan to continue working with students on an individual basis to meet their specific needs as we have always done regarding critical race theory i have stated three times that we do not teach it and nor do we plan to in

carries thank you miss hunter thank you next is considerations to declare specific cool work school board property mr johnson thank you mr chairman in your packets i gave you a plat of the yellow branch property that includes the technical center as well as well as um yellow branch elementary school the uh we we have been approached when the uh the adjacent property was sold uh i guess would be to the east northeast of that property if you were facing it for some odd reason when there is a 50 foot by approximately 700 feet long a little strip of land that the school board actually owns and mr hawkins has researched that it goes back many many years we believe it was a right-of-way or road down to an old well it's only 50 feet wide
we it was requested obviously there's nothing that the school board can do with that that small piece of property and we've been asked to declare that surplus it will revert to the county at which time if they choose and i assume they would they would entertain that to sell that little strip of property to make the adjacent property whole so unless you have questions i would recommend that you declare that 50 foot by and it's described clearly in your packet i would recommend that you declare that property surplus i make a motion motion on the floor on the consideration of declaration of specific school property surplus do we have a second second okay we have a motion and a second any additional questions concerns in regards to the property for dr johnson okay all those
in favor say aye aye those opposed okay motion carries uh dr johnson report from the superintendent the only thing i have mr chairman is i just want to thank everyone for the hard work that they've all put in to keep keep schools open working very hard and we recognize that it's a challenge but just want to recognize those people that are doing that that's all hey thank you dr johnson okay we've got matters from the board we'll start um mr jones oh first thank the speakers here tonight to share your concerns we appreciate your i want to come out and speak attended a demonstration and a display of the new i guess electric buses a couple weeks ago at sunny merriman's place on 29 south it's very impressive buses i say we attended a demonstration
and a display of the new electric buses that will be replacing some of our diesel buses in the coming years are very impressive look just like a regular bus except you know no engine just batteries but it's very impressive and appreciate floyd merriman inviting us and some other school representatives to participate and look at it concord elementary school been some playground improvements with some new fencing and some new canopies and tint for shade and really looks nice and impressive and if you haven't driven through the village of rusburg towards brook neal and seen the construction of the new rossberg middle school make a trip don't turn right on 501 keep on going past the middle school and look at the new rushburg middle school it's very impressive if everything goes to schedule we'll be going
to school there next year and certainly need to thank the current rusburg middle school faculty and anybody that works there students parents for dealing with the construction and the new parking areas it's it's it's it's a little bit tough this year but it's going to be certainly worth it next year um and a special thanks again to all of the administration faculty students everybody for the hurdles that we've encountered these first five years of the school year um from what i've heard this year is a lot harder than last year there are a lot more unexpected hurdles and things that our teachers and administrators have had to deal with um but just just want to express my appreciation and think sure i'm speaking to the whole board just thank everybody for the efforts and and

needed some of our students are directly experiencing loss because of covid and we need to be sure and keep those students in mind and wrap them in love in our community at this point because whether or not we believe covet is real or masks or whatever these children are still experiencing losses whether indirectly or directly from covet and no child should have to go through the loss of a parent or a grandparent so we need to be sure and wrap them in our arms and love on them as well during this time thank you mrs ripley um mr everson i too would just like to thank everyone for coming out tonight and exercising your right to speak and be heard we will as mr phillips say we will take your comments under advisement and i'd
like to reiterate mr phillips comments with regard to transgender crt and mask mandate our position is not changed on this and so i mean with respect to the governor's the the change of the mandate or the law requiring mass that's the only thing that's changed we still have made it has taken a stance that we are not adopting the governor's policy on transgender and we are not and don't plan to teach critical race theory thank you again for everyone for coming out we appreciate it thank you miss jefferson mr brandt i want to thank everyone for coming out tonight spending your time here with us expressing yourselves uh also i attended the uh activities we had at sunday merriman with the buses and all a very good learning experience also like to thank rossberg high
