for all this time. I'll entertain a motion to go into open session. >> Thank you. >> Second question, >> Mr. East. >> Yes, >> Dr. M. Yes, >> Miss Pang. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Pam. >> Yes, >> Mr. Warfield. >> Yes, >> Mr. >> Yes. Motion carries 70. Thank you very much. Um, okay. >> Do I have a motion to approve the consent agenda? >> I'd like to make a motion to amend the consent agenda with the following changes. Removal of agenda item 12B, superintendent contract for approval at the next board meeting. So, with that amendment, uh, do I hear a motion for >> Nope. We need a motion to second. >> Okay, we did. Okay. >> Uh, roll call vote. >> Mrs. Pley, >> yes. >> Mrs. Town, >> yes. >> Mr. Eastston, >>
yes. >> Mr. War, >> yes. >> Dr. Holl, >> Miss Payne, >> yes. >> Mr. Collins, >> yes. Uh, motion carries 70. Thank you. Uh public comments at this time. >> Public comments. >> Okay. Do we have any public comments? >> Yes. PJ Bournes >> the podium, please. >> All right. Good evening to our district 118. I am here to request um for KDBA to have a project success afterchool program. I believe there are several other schools that does have after school program, but it seems to me that KDB is one that doesn't. So, I'd like to know how we can get that established, how soon it can become established or uh put into motion um so that all our kids can be a part of an afterchool program. And though KDB may be one
of those that is one that have the kids that are somewhat not quite easy to get along with or have challenges, um I think they too need an afterchool program. So I like to see and I like to know how that can be established and how soon that can also be established. Um my other issue is um over 10 years ago there was a caucus put into view at district 118. Since then, there have been uh the three kings. There have been um uh programs set at Northridge, I believe. So, I want to know what happened to the carcass. Has it been put on sobatical? And if so, why? And how do we uh retrieve it out of sobatical? >> Yes, please. >> And typically, we don't respond to public comments, but um Hi. Nice
to see you. It's been a while. Paul. >> So, project project success that is not a district program. Basically, they use our buildings, but I will contact Mrs. David and I will see if there's any money in that grant. They actually write that separate from the district, but I will check and I will contact you. And then, um, as far as the Danville Caucus, um, you know, right now we, um, have a group of parents that are volunteering at Northridge. I believe you and I have actually talked about that here recently. And honestly, the caucus kind of disappeared and and I think it really disappeared when summer came and then just didn't get restarted. >> I've gone up to the high school and they wouldn't let me in. >> All right. >> And I have
my card right here that shows I am still in it. But I was ch told I couldn't come in and I was not allowed the privileges. I didn't go any other schools, but I did go to the high school. And I know that that we didn't have any boundaries or limiters, but I'm also aware that that there may have been some situations that took place that may have interfered with it. However, it was not me. So, >> it's Illinois school code that changed since you've been there. So, we have to background check um all of our volunteers or whatever. But I will talk to you. I know. Right. I I will call you um one day this week and hopefully we can figure out something for you. >> Thank you. I appreciate that. >> Thank
you. Thank you very much. Thank you. >> Mhm. >> That's all the public comments, but we got to go back. >> Okay. >> Item number three. >> Sure. If we just don't seem to want to get that discipline done tonight. Could I please uh have a motion to approve uh the discipline? Oh, go ahead. Do you have to do you have to read it? >> Uhhuh. >> Yeah, you have to read it. Do that. We um uphold the recommendation of the board on student case number 2625521. >> Roll call vote. >> Mrs. Corley, >> yes. >> Mrs. Tam, >> yes. >> Mr. Eastston, >> yes. >> Mr. Warfield, >> yes. >> Dr. Holland, >> yes. >> Miss Pang, >> yes. >> Mrs. Holland, >> yes. Motion carries 70. Thank you. That's it. We We did
it. We did it. Okay, back to public comments. Do we have any others? We have no others. Okay. Uh item six on the agenda is the treasures report. Who does that? >> You just need to make a motion. >> Make a motion to approve it. >> Okay. I'll entertain a motion to approve the treasures report. >> Second. >> Thank you. Uh roll call vote. >> I I just have a >> comment. Um, just so everyone knows, if you go to the board packet, you'll get a really colorful description on what uh the treasurer's report is. Mr. Hart, thank you for making this and your team, thank you for making this. >> Um, so that I don't have to have a comment later since it applies to the budget. I I've asked Mr. chart. You can
see on this um it says the cash balance 22,559,000. That's what it says on the treasures report, but we have an operating fund balance around 28 million. This is from Mr. Hart earlier today. I asked him for a very specific piece of information that I think will help the public to know where we're at compared to other school districts. So, we have 115 days of cash on hand on at district 118. If you go to ISB's website, they have a report in October of 2025 that shows 849 schools in the state of Illinois. Um, 694 schools are better than we are and 150 schools, 155 schools are where we are at or below where we're at. Um, I think it's uh just important to know that we're uh how do I say it? Uh I
I made a comment here. I just want to read to you so I don't forget to say it the right way. Um it is um we really should to be considered strong we should have 180 days. So we have 115. Um we're we're just not in a great spot. I think it's important for everybody to know that where we were in 2018 in December was we had 168 days or 160 160 days roughly. So just so that everyone knows where we're at, you know, we're we're in the bottom of where we should be. 694 schools are better at what they have with cash on hand than we do. I just think when you look at the reports, you should keep that in mind. Isbe's report shows um that we're not where we should be. And
actually, I think that we'll we'll drop into the 60 to 99 day range very soon, which means there's only 23 schools with that designation in the whole state and 15 below that in the whole state out of 849 schools. I think the public should just be aware of it. We're showing you the numbers, but I just wanted to give you some context. That's all for me. >> Thank you. Anyone else? We have a motion and a second. So, can we have a roll call vote, please? >> Mrs. Pam, >> uh, yes. Mr. East, >> yes. >> Miss Payne, >> yes. >> Dr. Holler, >> yes. >> Mr. Warfield, >> I abstain. >> Mrs. Corley, >> yes. >> Mrs. Holl, >> yes. Motion carries six with one abstension. Thank you. Uh, item number eight, commencement 2026,
uh, Northridge Middle School 8th grade stepup ceremony. recommendation. Who's doing it? >> Would assume that would be Mrs. Hampton. Do you have that information? I I mean, I have it in my packet. I can find it. >> I I have it right here, too. I can do I can do it. >> Reading it. >> Yep, I can do it. >> Thank you. >> Okay. If I can make it big enough to read. >> Okay. Uh to the board of education from Mr. Warley uh at Northridge. We would like to confirm Northridge Middle School 8th grade stepup ceremony for the following date, Wednesday, May 27th, uh at 1:30 location Danville High School auditorium. Students will be transported by first student school buses to Danville High School. Each student will receive four tickets for the ceremony. The
district will provide step-up ceremony t-shirts for the students so that they will be in uniformed attire. Uh there is currently no conflict on the auditorium calendar for the requested date and time. And you will note that it's during the school day for the high school, but this has been done before and the high school accommodates uh uh the kiddos being there. So it's worked. It's worked fine in the past. >> It has. >> Mhm. >> Thank you. >> Okay. I need a motion for approval. >> Thank you. Second. >> Second. >> Thank you. Any discussion, concerns? Miss Robinson, we have a roll call vote. >> Dr. Holling, >> yes. >> Mrs. Tam, >> yes. >> Mr. Eastston, >> yes. >> Miss Payne, >> yes. >> Mr. Warfield, >> yes. >> Mrs. Courtney, >> yes. >>
Mrs. Holland, >> yes. Motion carries 70. Next on the uh agenda is the Danville High School graduation. And I don't have to do that one. Mr. Britz. >> Good evening, Board of Education. Mr. Hart, Mrs. Parker. Um, I'm here requesting your approval for the Danville High School class of 2026 commencement ceremony to be held on Saturday, May 23rd at the David Palmer Arena at 100 p.m. in the afternoon. >> And the time change, Mr. Bretts was because >> um we had um some parking concerns with um attendees using the bank parking lot across the street even though they were asked not to. So the bank closes at 12. We want to give families enough time to eat a proper lunch and still get there a little bit early for a good seat. So, we're moving
it from 10:00 a.m. to 100 p.m. Uh, everyone will still get the normal eight tickets that we've issued for many, many years now. >> Okay. Thank you. Uh, I will entertain a motion to approve. >> Motion. >> Second. >> Thank you. Any questions, concerns? >> Roll call vote. >> Morefield. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Tam. >> Yes. >> Miss P? >> Yes. Mrs. Corley, >> yes. >> Mr. Eastston, >> yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. Motion carries. 7. Thank you, Mr. Brett. >> Appreciate it. >> Okay. To our one of our favorite issues, press policy recommendation. Mrs. Parker. >> Good evening, board. Mr. Park. Um, tonight I am recommending that the board approve press policy 120 update as presented. And before I open it up for discussion, I would like to thank the policy committee um, which
included members from the board, Mr. Eastston and Miss Town, as well as directors and assistant directors as well as the board secretary. A and if I may, um at the last board meeting when we looked at this as a first meeting, I did recommend making the changes to remove dates for the audit and um posting the annual financial review and I did remove those dates because the audit is typically not done um in time to meet those deadlines. So therefore, we can't get that um financial review done as well. So that would be removing the dates from board policy 410, 430, and 480. Thank you. >> Good. >> Anything else? Roll for vote. >> Motion. >> Oh, >> now roll call vote. >> Miss Payne, >> yes. >> Mrs. Corley, >> yes. >> Mr. >>
Yes. >> Mr. Warfield. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Yes. >> Dr. Hollers. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Hollers. >> Yes. Motion carries 70. Thank you. >> Thank you, Miss Parker. >> Number 10. Curriculum. Is that you, Mrs. Button? >> Good evening, um, board. Mr. Hart and Mrs. Parker. Um, I have two things for you this evening. One is informational. That will set the stage for the second part which is a recommendation. And I have guest stars this evening. We've got Melissa Greenhall from our art department or ohm that was former from the CTE department. And then um Zoe Huelet from from art actually from art. Okay. So we'll we'll get started here. The information that I have for you at the beginning is that we have three departments that are reorganizing the names of their courses. So
the curriculum itself is not changing the title is and it's just to make it more um understandable for the students and the families and to kind of um make some concise pathways. So the three departments that that is happening in are art, CTE and physical education. And um we do have the list there if you have questions. We'd be happy to answer them. But they're really what we wanted you to know was that the curriculum is not changing. It's just the title changes and they do make a lot more sense. And in some cases it might be um a class the class was considered year-long but we've made it into two semesters or they would like to propose that it goes into two semesters which again is not a curriculum change. So, um, that's why
we're doing those forformational. Are there any questions on those? And I can explain the PE one if you have questions on that as well because that's just a title change. >> How many students do you think you'll have >> if you had to guess? >> And which course? >> Art. >> I mean, they doing the elective fair right now at the high school. So, the last two days or today? Yes. Today and tomorrow? Today and tomorrow. And so that's the sign up where they get the students interested. So they're not really in a place right now where they think they can give you the numbers. >> Okay. >> But the art you I hope you've got to see it that we So we put together a lovely slideshow for us tonight of a lot of
the art that's coming in and we have some award winners um an increase in award winners I think from over the years too. So she's they've done a nice job. >> We have six now and they all students in the intro and at the elective fair today we had a lot of signups. >> Great. >> Okay. >> Any other questions? >> Okay, then I'm going to move on to the recommendation piece. So, we have a couple courses in art. So, painting techniques one, painting techniques 2, 2D art techniques one, and 2D art techniques 2. You have the course descriptions there as well. And we can do it section by section if you'd like or I can just run through the whole thing and then you can ask questions. >> Run through the whole thing. Okay.
And then we have several courses in CTE. We have sewing one, two, and three. Fab fabric manipulation. And so far all of these courses I want to take. And then we have some computer science principles and um introduction to 3D computer modeling and graphics. >> I need that class. We all do. Mrs. P. >> Any questions? >> I just haven't seen for a while. Have you uh at the high school? >> Okay. >> I'm sorry. >> We need a motion, please. First, to approve these courses. >> Approve the recommendations. >> Thank you. Second. >> Second. >> Now, sewing. Um, has that been in the high school for a while or not? >> No, it's actually Yeah. Do you want to cut if when you guys talk, come on out to the microphone so they can
the public can hear you. We can't >> Melissa Green Hall. So, it's a new program this year. >> And I understand we have a new sewing lab. >> Yes, we do. >> And how many sewing machines do we have in our new sewing lab? >> Eight. >> We have eight industrial sewing machines right now. >> That's really cool. >> So, how did you come upon sewing? Was there like an outcry or >> It started with the the whole revamp of the CTE and the family and consumer sciences. Actually, we started talking about this like you it was before Mr. Brett was principal. I want to say probably >> yeah or even before before that. It was before COVID. We had talked about really revamping and bringing a foods class back in and a lot of
these courses. So it just it sometimes takes a while and then we have to find people that are going to teach the classes and we have them. Amazing. >> So >> I think it's a wonderful uh >> addition one everybody is not going to college and kids who are in college or out of high school they always talk about how illprepared there are certain things. And ironically, sewing is the top of the list. So, I'm happy. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions? >> Do we still have a food service or a cooking? Oh, yeah. And Okay. And then, um, is there one on just basic finances and running a household, that type of thing? >> There's another one. >> There's that. So, those are sort of two different things, but they're in
two different courses. Okay. >> So, yes. Honestly, the finance piece is something that we're obligated to teach. It's a mandate, so we make sure that that's in there. >> Okay. >> And then, um, >> yeah, so they blended. They're they're blended into different courses. >> Okay. Good. Okay. >> Anybody else? So, we have a motion and a second. Uh, roll call vote. >> Mr. Eastston, >> yes. >> Dr. Holland, >> yes. >> Mrs. Cordon, >> yes. Mr. F. >> Yes. >> Mr. Warfield. >> Yes. Motion carries 70. Thank you so much for what you're doing and getting the kids involved. >> We'll be back with the the scope and sequence documents to match these courses probably in July. >> And you're going to do a little slide presentation of your winners and everything so we
could see that. >> They're in the they're in there. It's it was just running I think before you guys. >> It's on the screen. >> Oh, okay. >> Okay. Okay, moving on to item number 10, special education. Miss Bailey. >> Good evening, board. Mr. Hart, Molly Bailey, director of special education. Um, tonight I have before you the Vermillion County Local Inter Agency Council inter agency agreement. I'm not sure if they could make a longer title. Um, basically, um, we approve this each year. Um it's between all the agencies that support um children turning three. Um and it just outlines the law essentially of what their responsibilities are and what our responsibilities are as the as this the child turns three. And um it would be for both Mr. Rice and I to sign once you
um approve hopefully. Um and like I said, there's no changes over last year's agreement. Um it's just kind of a requirement. So I recommend your approval. Thank you. Do I have a motion to approve the Vermillion County Local Inter Agency Council inter agency agreement for transition recommendation? >> Motion. >> Thank you. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Any other Do you have any questions for Miss Bailey? Anything? >> Roll call vote. >> Mrs. Corley. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Sam, >> yes. Mr. East, >> yes. >> Mr. Warfield, >> yes. >> Dr. H. Yes. >> Yes. >> M. >> Yes. Motion carries. 70. Thank you. Thank you very much. >> Okay. Item number 11, early learning. Mr. Rice, approval of contract with Gateway Family Services of Illinois. >> Good evening board. Mr. Hart, Mrs.
Parker, Chris Rice, director of early learning. I have a contract proposal for you this evening from Gateway Family Services. Uh, Gateway Family Services has been supporting our students in district 118 for the last several years, and I'm recommending that the district continue to utilize their services to provide supports to our early childhood program. Uh, supports would include a prek retreat for staff, five hours of professional development. Uh, they're creating video series to help with our uh, daily routines, morning routines, and SCCL lessons. and then 10 hours of monthly consultation with prek staff that's part of their mental health consultant requirements through their various grants. Um the contract for this year would be $83,500 and would be paid for um utilizing the grants from the preschool for all program at 48,500 and our preschool forall expansion
program at 35,000. I can answer any questions. Uh, first we need a um motion to approve. >> So move. >> Thank you. Second. >> Thank you. Questions for Mr. Rice. >> So there's no cost to the district. This is >> It's all grant funded. >> Okay. Anybody else a question? >> They're going to create a video series. >> They will create a video series. Yes. How does that what do you think that'll look like? >> Uh they've done that in the past. So when they are working with students at the younger level especially like that sometimes it's easier to put a presentation in front of the students in the form of a video you know that have their morning time or circle time and they can use that for social skill lessons as part of
their part of their lesson planning. >> Thank you. >> Yep. >> Okay. We have a a motion and a second. Roll call vote. Miss Robinson. >> Mr. Tam, >> yes. >> Miss Pang, >> yes. >> Dr. Holler, >> yes. >> Mr. Warfield, >> yes. >> Mr. East, >> yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Mrs. >> Yes. Motion carry 70. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> Appreciate it. >> Human resources. Oh, no. Wait. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Are you doing >> first one's me? Yes. >> Okay. Okay. Well, welcome. >> Stay up here. Uh this seem to have a first reading for a new job description that's part of the early learning group coordinator position. Uh this is a position just based on needs of our community um and resources that we're trying to provide to
our parents and families. Recommended um from our grant providers as a position that could have a lot of benefit for our program. Currently our book to three program has 10 staff members in our district which consists of two uh central intake coordinators and then our eight home visitors. Um if we were able to approve this job description, it would change essentially the job responsibilities to include some group group components for our home visitors. So, not only families who are enrolled uh that can have additional services beyond the typical one-on-one home visit, they could come to the north campus setting and get a lot of group activities uh towards child development as well as looking for families maybe because of our case load capacity that could still receive some services while they were on a waiting
list to receive supports. Um these changes would not require the addition of any staff members. would just be uh consisted of somebody in our program taking on that role and those extra responsibilities and no changes to salary. So, of course, those things are already grant grant funded and we continue to do so. >> I can answer any questions you have for that. >> Are we voting on this tonight? We're not. >> No, it's just the first reading. >> Okay. So, uh we're not creating a a new position, >> not a new position, just a change in responsibilities to one of the >> what you have. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> How many students do you think we have? to three >> 105 to 115 currently for 10 really eight staff members. >> Yeah. >> Two
of them do the referrals and eight of them serve and we have home visitors. Some have a case load of 20. >> There's a lot of guidelines. If they have multiple children within a family, they can serve a little more than their capacity, but yeah, they are uh at capacity for sure. There's a lot on the wait list. >> Anybody else? Okay. >> Thank you. >> Okay. I got it. >> Good evening board, Mr. Hart and Mrs. Parker. I'm Kim Papaps, director of human resources. And tonight, I have for you um a change that I'm recommending to increase the daily rate for subprinciples. Um, currently we sit at $350 and we would like to increase it to 400. The daily rate goes all the way back to before 2016. That was the rate many, many
years ago. So, we want to increase that to 400. And it's comparable to places around us as well in our size. Okay. Is that a throw? >> Okay. Could I have a motion to approve? motion. I >> make a motion we approve the changes. >> Okay. >> Second. Okay. Thank you. Any questions from Miss Paps? >> Um are I just don't know that we do we use this sub for a principal very often? >> We do need to right now with our contract if a principal is out we do need to have somebody in the building. Okay. >> Um if we have meetings here with the principles which are few and far between maybe once a month. um if we don't have enough coverage to go around, we are then out of our contract um
agreements. >> So, yes, it's not a daily thing thankfully, but it's it's a necessary thing to have one or two people that we could call. >> Okay. Anybody else? Okay. Moving on. >> Dr. Her. >> Yes. >> Sam. Yes, >> Miss B. >> Yes, >> Mr. Warfield. >> Yes, >> Mrs. Corley. >> Yes, >> Mr. Eastston. >> Yes, >> Mrs. >> Yes. Motion carries 70. >> Thank you. >> Who does this? >> You're going to read this. You're going to make a motion. >> You're going to make you have to read from top to bottom. >> Okay. Okay, then I'll do it. >> So, you have six. >> Sorry. >> I have six motions that need to be approved. I will read them. You want me to do one by one or I'll all six?
>> One by one. Vote on them individually. >> Okay. First one. Motion to approve the resolution for the dismissal of educational support personnel employee Tuansa Simmons for reasons other than reduction in force. Effective immediately. Can I have a motion to approve? Second. >> Second. >> Thank you. Roll call vote. >> Mr. Warfield? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Sam? >> Yes. >> Miss F? >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. >> Dr. Holland. >> Yes. >> Mr. East. >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. Motion carries 70. Mr. >> Yes. >> Dr. How? >>
Yes. >> Mr. Warfield. >> Yes. Mley. >> Yes. Motion carry 70. Okay. Thank you. Uh and now we are moving on to uh 12. Oh, we did that. 13. Food service. Miss Zeta. Good evening, Board of Education. Mr. Hart, Miss Parker, Zeta Pisel, Director of Food Services. I am before you to make two recommendations for purchases. The first one is for Liberty Elementary, a new convection oven. The current oven is over 20 years old. Um, an oven typically lasts about 15 years. Currently, the machine parts are no longer available from vendors. The oven is an essential piece of equipment to prepare breakfast for over 300 and lunch for over 295 students. My recommendation is for Johnson Equipment to provide Vulcan convection oven for cost of $14,700 plus an installation of $4,750. >> Could I please
have a motion? >> Motion. >> Thank you. Second. >> Thank you. Uh questions. I have a question. Uh, did this go out to bid? >> I did a informal bid. I um worked with two vendors to get prices for it. I tried for three, but I got two. >> Okay. >> Do you have copies? >> Vulcan is a very good brand. >> Yes, it is. >> So, good choice. >> Thank you. Any other questions, concerns? >> Could you repeat the prices because I don't have any I have no paperwork on that. I have it on the um the next one for Kenneth Bailey. >> Okay. >> 14,700 for the um oven and $4,750 for the installation. >> Was this in your budget, Mel? So, we have funds um not designated for this either one, but
I had money set aside for repairs, which we haven't had to do because we purchased some other equipment last year. I'm moving that money to purchase this. So, yes, it's not pinned for this, but there is money in the budget. >> And Miss PJO has met with um our business office. Yes. And Mr. actually went through this with her and there is money. It's as simple as moving from one line item to the next. So, thank you. >> Thank you. Have we checked the other schools to see if they are in the same situation or >> So I have been targeting the schools for the last three years dealing with severity of equipment and so yes I'm looking at them based on the need. The ones that I've been able to repair I've repaired them
as long as I could. The other ones that needed to be replaced have been replaced. And that's where we're at with this oven at Liberty. The vendor told me that's it. We can't do anything else for you. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> Anyone else? >> Rule Boot. >> Dr. Howard? >> Yes. >> Mrs. Town? >> Yes. >> Miss P? >> Yes. >> Mr. Warfield? >> Yes. >> Mr. Corley? >> Yes. >> Mr. Eastston? >> Yes. >> Mr. >> Yes. Motion carries 70. Purchase of the new ventless dishwasher for KDBA. KDBAVA's dishwasher is over 25 years old. Same response from the vendor that the parts are no longer available. The Vermillion Health Department has been patient with me on this. I'm asking that we replace it as soon as possible because that
particular school does not have a three compartment sink. So, either a dishwasher or three compartment sink because there isn't one. We have to replace the dishwasher immediately. The quotes that I receive, I'm recommending again Johnson Equipment for a Hobart ventless dishwasher for $22,800 with an installation cost of $4,200. >> Uh, could I have a motion, please? >> Second. >> Thank you. Any questions, concerns, thoughts >> there? No, I didn't see that. I think you took there was um a rebate that you must have inquired about and we automatically received because it was 23,000. >> Yes, that's correct. >> The $200. Okay.
