Order the D S D S D S D S D S D S D S D S D S D Simon Lake School District 76. Roll call, please. >> Please. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. >> Okay, we now open the floor for public comments on agenda items. Do we have any public comments this evening? >> Okay, there being no public comments, we will move on to recognitions. But first, I Just on behalf of the board of education, I want to welcome uh Superintendent Rays and Principal Rays who have joined us this evening. Thank you very much for coming. We're very excited to see you. >> For
recognition, we're going to call Mrs. Morley and Principal Reyes to the microphone. >> Okay. >> All right. Is this good? Can you stand next to your sister? You stand right there. Stand up on You can stand up. Come on over here. You can stand on the end, too. You can both stand. No. Okay. All right. We are here to recognize one of our very own kindergarten teachers at Diamond Lake School. Mrs. Broie is a true gem. She is dedicated to student success in and out of the classroom. >> Mr. Mrs. Broie teaches well. She teaches kids to sound out word the words. She teaches students to be calm. Another note from our families is I'm so thankful for Mrs. Broie for helping my children on everything they need help with. She replies to my messages
and she finds a solution right away. That makes me feel super blessed to have her as my kids teacher and that she cares about them. Another note. as excellent as gracias for s ina >> at school each day. She empowers students to learn and grow in her classroom by sounding out words, problem solving with friends, and teaching one another, and pushing herself to continue learning. Her bright outlook, humble approach, and student first mindset makes her worthy of this diamond award and more. We got to shake her hand when she comes up here. So now you >> Oh my gosh, that was so sweet. I love it. Thank you so much. Stay right up here. Mr. H. Okay. Just acknowledging our superintendent for the day and the principal for the day have been working since bright
and early this morning. So, we're going to let them officially clock out of duty, but thank them for their service today. They have been awfully busy, and this is an awfully long day. So, thank you so much. You both did an absolutely wonderful job today. Okay. And so we will move on to the superintendent ad and administrative report. Thank you so much. Um we have two brief updates for the board. The first thing that we want to bring the board's attention to. There's a memo in there for a position that we are looking to um add into the 2627 school year as a shared service position. Um within here though, I just want the board to be aware it's an intergovernmental agreement for how that would um take place. The agreement between district 76 and
district 79 Fremont. Um again, it's for the safety and security coordinator position. So you see that in there. You see the intergovernmental agreement. We have had our attorneys take a look at it just to make sure that all of that is uh within reason. So as you look at it, it has been reviewed by the attorneys with recommendations and updates made from them. Uh we feel really good about the opportunity to have a shared service model with a a system so close to ours in a position like this where we are going to be able to have this individual here 50% of the time and 50% of the time in uh Fremont 79. So, as you take a look at that, if you have any questions, certainly let me know. As you'll see, further on
into the agenda is the opportunity for us to approve the intergovernmental agreement so that we can go ahead and move forward with the posting of that position as well. Um, we will post an interview as a Diamond Lake District 76 employee will be posted, but we will do the collaborative interview process uh together with District 79 Fremont here at our district offices. Any questions? Yeah. That's a that's a great question. Uh proportionate in terms of student population not the same facilities is typically what they recommend the number of facility or sites. The only additional facility or site they have is they actually do have a transportation department inhouse where we don't have a transportation inhouse but otherwise facilitywise we have the same number. That may not always be the case and then we would continue
to revisit this um on an annual basis. So this intergovernmental agreement is an annual intergovernmental agreement. That's a good question. Yeah. Yeah. The recommendation is based on facilities as we dug in and did some investigation. Yeah, but that's a great question and we will find plenty of things to be able to put this individual to work with. Yeah, for sure. Good question though. Thank you. Correct. Yep. It is great. Excellent. The other the other report which is not necessarily in here as a memo is we did get some additional information last month. We updated the board on um some engagement that we received related to a waterline potentially going in front of Diamond Lake school. Uh Mr. Rogers did get an additional update. no proposal to put forward for the board of education at this
point in time, but we did want to update you just on uh somewhat of the changes to the mockup or layout of where this waterline could potentially go if the board so approves. Again, this would be pending board approval, but we just wanted to give you an update on the uh new layout or new structure of the layout that they are proposing to us. Again, we have no proposals for the taking over of the easement at this point in time. They have not submitted that. just new renderings of potentially where it might go. So, I'll turn over to Mr. Rogers to provide the update on this. >> There we go. Okay. So, this entire presentation was contingent upon the superintendent of the day. We practice a lot. So, since she left, I'm going to wing
this one, but do my best. So yes, the this is the newest update that we received, but it is still missing the most important element is what is the financial or uh uh overall proposal for this easement. But there the the reason there is a delay is because they found some new information. One that I was not aware of in terms of an existing easement that we had. So I'm going to do my best to show it. So right along Diamond Lake Road, there's an existing easement there kind of right on the right where the mouse pointer is in the blue line. So that is uh was signed in and so the original easement that they proposed from CLC Jawa just went on our northernmost property then turned down and follow that same board of
existing e easement. So really the only difference of this proposal is they are just going to go inside of the easement that's uh that's outstanding there and uh the proposal really just contains more square footage that would change the financial component of that. But they are requesting there's a shaded line that's existing right on the north and south border. They're referring to as a temporary easement that they would need during construction. So it's maintain a pretty large footprint overall when you uh you know consider the temporary easement and the permanent one that exists. Um so right now we're still working in hypotheticals until we get a full proposal. When we spoke last week they are uh pretty confident that we're going to get something soon but we have heard that before. So soon as we
get an update officially we'll present that at hopefully the first meeting of April and uh bring that for u consideration. Any questions? Yeah. >> Yeah, of course. Um, we'll could have that pretty much attached probably the end of the meeting or end of today. Lot of information in there. Yes, but it is, you know, pretty hard to tell. But really not a lot of changes, just a little different footprint than they originally proposed. Any other questions? That is a fantastic question. All she said was be on the lookout. We do have a temporary easement that we're requesting and that she didn't have any any real other information, but she just insinuated it was for construction related purposes and it was temporary. Not that there was an exact time frame associated with it. So, I don't
know if temporary means um you know, if it was be constructed during the summer and that was the existing uh uh totality of that or if it extended beyond that. So, we're still kind of working in some a lot of vague generalities. >> Questions? One, and I I'm in the same boat as Lisa. I don't know if my eyes are old. I just have bad vision, too. Uh I can't tell from this. Does it indicate where the like the driveways are? >> Uh, great question. When I originally saw this, it was not in so much of a formal easement proposal. It was more of a mockup. So, the Oh, man. >> There we go. It is essentially right here is the parking lot. >> Okay. So that's the I would say from the blue line
right there to the red line would be the mouth of our parking lot. Maybe a little bit farther over. >> Okay. >> So this would extend just a little bit. I would say this is probably the first parking spot >> as you get in. So keep in mind we're flipping this up like that from a northern perspective. It would hit the just the mouth of the parking entrance there. >> Okay. And are we expecting the proposal to have details like here's the compensation, here's the time, like a proposed timeline, like that type of information because from you explaining that it looks like obviously that takes up an entire driveway since our parking lot is tiny and the buses can't turn. I'm just wondering if like are you expecting like a proposal with a lot of
information. >> Our expectation is we'd have a full proposal, okay, that may not necessarily include a timeline. Um, just speaking for myself, I'd be interested with the financial proposal and that may or may not necessitate a further conversation. So, >> Gotcha. And and to your knowledge, is there the only benefit to the district because I believe last meeting it was said that we couldn't access the water would be the Correct. >> Correct. They said that they are water supplier. They would not be able to provide us water directly to the property. So they provided at the township. So yes, it would just be a financial component that they're proposing. >> The only other thing I I'll just add and Mr. Rogers has done an absolutely fabulous job in terms of the communication. We get very
limited communication of only the impact to the our property line which is a little bit um unclear of all of the other complexities. I will be at the ELA township meeting which I think will provide a little bit more understanding beyond just the scope of where it starts and ends here to understand that full impact and we can include anything that would be helpful to the board when we do have that proposal so that we have a total picture of the potential impact not just the the area around the school but also um we do know it could potentially while they may not be communicating about this it could potentially impact bus stops and other things that maybe they don't realize also does have an impact potentially on the school district. So, I'll be at
the Ela Township meeting tomorrow evening to be able to hear just a little bit more. Again, we get the renderings of just our plot of land, but we know there's other complexities, including our buses going in and out of that roadway um right there at Diamond Lake that could be impacted. So, hopefully we will have some additional clarity too to be able to provide even beyond the proposal of the full totality of the impact um for the next board meeting. And should we get anything sooner, we'll let you know. Um, Hyram was fast on the draw and already put the drawing in there or the rendering in there. So, it's under other. If you just refresh, you should be able to see it that in there. >> Of course. Does anyone else have any other
questions? Okay. >> Okay. And that does that that wraps up? Okay. So, we will move on to the business agenda. We have three items for action this evening. Um the first item up for action is the omnibus vote agenda. Items under the omnibus vote agenda are considered routine and/or non-controversial and will be approved by one motion. If anyone board member, staff, administrator, or citizen wishes to have a separate vote on any item or items, that item or items will be pulled from the omnous vote agenda and voted on separately. It resolved that the Diamond Lake 76 board of education accepts and approves the omnibus vote agenda items A through C as listed. May I have a motion to approve, please? Yes, >> that motion is approved. The next item up for action is personnel. It
resolved the Diamond Lake 76 Board of Education accepts and approves the personnel items as depicted on the agenda. Um, we have two resations. May I have a motion to approve, please? Yes, that motion's also approved. The next item up for action is actually voting on that intergovernmental agreement that mentioned the beginning. Just before we vote, does anyone have any questions on that? Be it resolved that the Diamond Lake 76 Board of Education accepts and approves the 2026 intergovernmental agreement for the shared safety and security services with district 79 as presented. I have a motion to approve, please. Yes, >> that motion is also approved. Um, that concludes our business business agenda. Freedom or board discussion. Did we have anything for board discussion? Oh yeah. >> Yeah. It's not due to >> Yeah. >> If you
want to look at how you responded last year, you can online. So, it is easy just to for anyone that files electronically, you can pull up. >> Okay, thank you for that. Um, freedom of information requests. We did not have any, correct? Okay. Um, notices and We have uh the March 4th agenda for Are you going to tomorrow? Yeah. Um then we also have district 76 highlights. We have those award from Middle School. Super cute. Um, then moving on to public comments and petitions on non-aggenda items. Do we have any public comments? Okay, there being no public comments, we will move on to others. Um, one thing for others in your folder, um, as we discussed this during our self evaluation and just catch you up. Um Nikki, the um the rep we had from
IASB was talking about how a number of boards have adopted um sample social media protocols um both to address any potential current issues but also as like forward thinking to establish that now and then as any you know as obviously there'll be another election um next April for the school board. So it would you know there would be polic in place as additional board members join the board. Um, and so if you guys could take a look at these um, and kind of, you know, go through them, see if there's anything that concerns you or you think it makes sense to adopt those. They're pretty, you know, these are just the sample from my they're pretty straightforward. A lot of them, I think, are there's some slight redundancy, but als that. So that is all
I had for others. Was there anything else for others? No. Okay. Um we do not have executive sessions. So this the fastest board meeting we've had in a while which is fantastic. Could we get a motion to adjourn, please? >> Sorry, we're too we're too fast. Okay, >> everyone's excited. >> Everybody, thank you all of you. We appreciate your time tonight. I was going to just
