002Okay. Hearing none, do I have a motion and a second to approve the agenda of the regular meeting of the board of education on June 15, 2026 as presented? >> I move. >> Okay. Second. >> Okay. >> Member Hempy made the motion. Member Mueller seconded the motion to approve the agenda of the regular meeting of the board of education on June 15, 2020 as presented. Discussion. >> Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Dieseler. >> Hi. >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Hulk. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi. >> Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. Okay. Motion passes. We will now have our district celebrations. And at this time, I'd like to Oh, oh, sorry. Thank you. Very important. Sorry. Uh, we will have our public

Mrs. Armstrong. >> Well, at this time, we're open to have anyone from the public uh have any comments about the budget. be happy to hear those at this time and then we'll have open discussion during the roll call item. Is there anyone here that would like to speak to the public hearing on the budget? >> Okay. The public hearing regarding District 100's amended 2026 through 2027 budget is closed. Now we will have our district celebrations. And at this time I'd like to turn it over doc doc to Dr. Shug. >> All right. Well, I get to recognize uh President Herrera uh who was recognized by the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce in 40 over 40. He was one of the honores. Uh congratulations to Mr. Herrera
004being one of the Greater Rockford Chamber members. Uh these honores represent a broad section of Rockford's civic, nonprofit, healthcare, education, government, and private sector landscape. This group of professionals makes up the very best and brightest experience shaping the Rockford region, said GRRCC COO Caitlyn Pusetaryi. They deserve this recognition and our thanks for their skills, service, and mentorship influencing our community's success and definitely uh there's uh the full list that is linked there on our page and we are very excited to recognize President Herrera for that accomplishment. And I also just have to mention uh if you did not know uh Mr. Herrera is also an Iron Man. Uh he completed the Rockford Iron Man on Sunday uh with his daughter Gabby Herrera. So really exciting. >> Thank you. >> Do I shake my hand? Oh,
005AWESOME. >> YES. We have a plan together. >> And do we have Leah Hendrickson here this evening? Uh, I would like to recognize Mrs. Leah Hendrickson, my son's fourth grade teacher at Lincoln. Mrs. Not my son's, but the writer of this, uh, Jessica Ferguson. Mrs. Hendrickson consistently goes above and beyond for her students. My son has individual learning needs, and she's taken the time to truly understand him and ensure he has the support he needs to be successful. She makes learning exciting and engaging for her class. From creative activities to fun strategies, she is always finding ways to make the kids want to learn and to be involved. Her passion for teaching is clear in everything she does. She celebrates every success alongside us and gets just as excited as we do when he does
006well on assessments or reaches a goal. That kind of genuine care makes a lasting impact. What stands out most about Mrs. Hendrickson is the way she makes every child feel seen, valued, and capable. She creates a classroom environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and confident in her in themselves. The impact she has reaches far beyond academics. She's helping build confidence, excitement for learning and a true sense of belonging in her students. As a parent, there is nothing more reassuring than knowing your child is cared for by someone who genuinely believes in them and wants them to succeed. Thank you, Mrs. PETERSON. PICTURE. OKAY. >> And we have Mr. Peters. Uh Mr. Peters goes outside of his role as instructional coach of technology. He is always willing to support you in learning something new or in
007stretching yourself to improve. He encourages staff to go outside the box by trying new resources and activities, asking questions, and engaging in collaborative conversations without fear. Drawing on his background as a former careers teacher, he leverages his technical expertise to guide staff and effectively supporting diverse learning needs within the classroom. I don't know how I would have made it through the teaching of a new course this year without Sam's support. Thank you for all you do for the staff and for me at DHS. THANK YOU FOR BEING AND MRS. HENDRICKSON AND MR. PETERS, come on up. And Miss Hadley is going to take your picture right there. >> Listen to the boss. She's going to tell you where to go. two excellent examples of the fantastic things happening in D 100. Thank you, Mr. Peters
008and Mrs. Hendrickson for being here tonight. At this time, I would like to invite any board members who have anything or anyone they would like to give a shout out to. Okay. Seeing none, we will have we will now have our board committee report starting with business services on June 2nd. Miss Hawk or Mr. Hempky, do you have anything you would like to highlight or share from the business services committee minutes? >> Nothing of nothing to highlight. >> Okay. Does anyone have any questions for Mrs. H, Mr. Hempy, or Mrs. Armstrong? One thing to note that the meeting has been changed for our next meeting. It'll be on June 30th at Washington Academy. Gotcha. Saw that again popped up. So, okay. All right. At this time, members of the public and employees of district 100
009may make public comments. As a reminder, any person appearing before the board is expected to address the board only at the appropriate time and follow the directive of the board president and to maintain order and quorum. At this time with Mr. Dan Snow, please come forward as I tried to promise I'd be here on a regular basis. Um, thank you for your service, staff, um, board members, Miss Shug, but I think you got it wrong on the Perry school thing. That's all I have to say. >> Okay. Thank you, Mr. Schnow. Is there anyone else that would like to approach the board at this
010time and make public comment? Okay, seeing none. Next in the agenda are our consent agenda items. Are there any items on the consent agenda any members of the board would like to take out for separate consideration? Seeing none, do I have a motion in a second to approve the consent agenda items number two through 17 as presented? >> Second. >> Okay. Member Hal made the motion. Member Young seconded the motion to approve consent agenda items number 2 through 17 as presented. Any discussion? Okay. At this time, I would like to acknowledge the following donations. $1,000 anonymous donation for Central Middle School. >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. H. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi. >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi. >> Mr. Dieseler. >> Hi. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. Hi. >>
011Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. Okay. Motion passes. Next on agenda are our roll call items starting with revisions to existing board of education policies. Are there any policies under roll call under roll call any members of the board would like to take out for separate consideration? Okay. Hear none. Do I have a motion and a second to approve roll call item roll call action items number 1 through 21 as presented? >> Second. >> Okay. Member Y made the motion and member Hul seconded the motion to approve roll call action items number 1 through 21. Revisions to existing board of education policies are presented. I'm sorry as presented. In addition, the retirement of policy 7245 extracurricular drug and alcohol testing program nonpress policy now part of revisions to existing board of education policy 7 code 240 con
012I'm sorry conduct code for participants and extracurricular activities as presented. Any discussion? Okay, roll call please. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi Mrs. Help. >> Hi, >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi, >> Mr. Diesel Meer. >> Hi, >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi, >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi, >> Mr. Herrera. >> I Okay, motion passes. >> Do I have a motion in a second to approve District 100's amended fiscal year 2026 budget as presented? So, >> move second. Okay, Member Hul made the motion. Member Piggy seconded the motion to approve District 100's amended fiscal year 2026 budget as presented. Any discussion, >> Miss Armstrong, is there anything you'd like to highlight? >> Yes, I would like to highlight that a lot of these um amendments are putting in our carryover money from grants. So, we've gotten additional funds
013from there. Uh the big highlight that is exciting um is that in our operating uh fund education tent fund we increased revenues by 1.76 million. However, we only increased expenses 900,000. So we have dropped that 9.8 deficit to an 8.9 deficit. So we are hopeful that that is where we'll be more aligned. But I say cautiously, we still have June to finish. And this is when we're collecting all invoices, all outstanding um things to pay by the end of the year. So hopefully we will have I do not have the health insurance bill yet. So we will wait to see where that one is at. Uh but overall, uh that is where we saw the uh significant. You'll see as well that on&m budget went up. Revenues $100,000. That was the grant that we received.
014However, they were able to reduce their budget expenses a little bit to only uh budget 98,000 in new uh expenses. So, some savings there. Uh transportation, uh we went up only 8,600, but we saw expenses increase 14,000. That's a lot of PFA um that we had more expenses in our preschool burl program. Um our um IMRF kind of had the opposite. it was 14,000 in new revenue and only uh it well only $25,000 in um expenses. That is the grants that are paying salaries. So you're seeing those benefits in IMREF and JS also with the summer school that is running through uh where we're paying paras um more to come in for those times. Um and then we had a tort reduction of $10,000 in expenses that is our legal so our SRO's our insuranceances
015and things like that. I was able to reduce that by $10,000. So, um overall, um in all funds, you're going up in revenue 1.91 million and you're only increasing your total expenses one by 1.02. So, it is a a good amendment, but we're still not out of the woods. We still have to do a lot of work uh for FY27 in that development. We'll start having more and more of those conversations in the coming months. Okay. Thank you, Mrs. Armstrong. Any questions for Mrs. Armstrong. Okay. >> Roll call, please. >> Mrs. Hulk, >> hi. >> Mr. Piggy, >> hi. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Dieseler. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi. >> Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. Okay. Motion passes. Do I have a motion in a second
016to award the employee benefit broker and consulting services to Gallagher as presented? >> I move. >> Second. >> Okay. Member Hempy made the motion and member Young the motion to award the employee benefit broker and consulting services to Gallagher as presented. Discussion. >> Mrs. Armstrong, do you want to highlight that at all? Um we went out um in an effort to continue to look at reducing costs in um our health insurance. Um we took out to bid the consulting services that Gallagher has held for a numerous uh period of time, a longer period of time. Um we got uh responses. The insurance committee interviewed uh three of those uh five that came in. Um and uh Gallagher was the least expensive at $80,000 annually. Uh the next two were $95,000 and 99,600 annually. Um it
017was a very interesting um group. They were all offered different things um and different uh ways to do our insurance program. We do feel um as the committee that uh the Gallagher contract is robust. they are adding a lot of services and a lot more transparency and education for our staff as well. Um that if now we have a tangible contract that we can hold them accountable for all of those services and really get involved in our program. So we were confident in making the recommendation for Gallagher. >> So we're currently using Gallagher and what's that cost? Right now it's only $45,000. >> There were some more additional services they were going to be providing going forward. >> Yes, they're offering wellness services. They're off they're adding staff to the clinic. So that's not the
018clinic side. Sorry, I'm mixing my two contracts up. I apologize. Um it's a lot of education newsletters. uh they're going to participate in our um new hire orientation. They're going to be doing um a lot of that outreach, offering webinar classes as well as um looking at other opportunities to get into um how we can more um adequately show employees the benefits that Blue Cross Blue Shield or our health provider will have for you. Um they are looking at different options for health insurance such as HAS and HSA accounts looking at different ways uh to do that. Everything is out to bid currently um for our plan that starts September, but we've already started looking at what we're going to do for next year to look at those bigger changes uh to really dive into
019uh those savings. We've been working as well um with uh the Med Impact side of our pharmaceuticals to really dive into that. We're starting to see our rebates come in from that. So, happy to say we have not had made a payment in the last 3 weeks because we had about a $280,000 credit with them from the rebates we received from our first uh quarter that we were with them. So, I think that is starting to to gain some benefit there as people are understanding it. Who makes up that insurance committee? >> It is a at least one representative from every employee group. It is not a board committee. It's um been run by employees um that are um associated with the coverage. So we have two BEA reps, a BESA, a best amen, and
020an ESP. And then uh Dr. ad myself and Chelsea sit on there as advisory members to kind of help dive decisions and give financial reports to them. >> Any other questions or comments for Mrs. Armstrong? Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi. Mr. Diesel Meyer. >> Hi, >> Mrs. Hulk. >> Hi, >> Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. >> Okay, motion passes. >> Do I have a motion and a second to approve the inter fund transfer from the working cash from working cash to IMRF fund as presented? >> So, second. >> Okay. Member Hul made the motion. Member Peggy seconded the motion to approve the Bowair North High School. I'm sorry. Member Hul and member Peggy second. I'm sorry. Mrs.
021Hul made the motion and member Piggy seconded the motion to approve the inter fund transfer from working cash to IMRF fund presented. Any discussion? So to clarify this um is strictly a documentational process that if we go as we start finalizing our books if there is a month usually in May or June when we haven't got our tax receipts in that we can transfer money from our working cash into that IMRF fund and then by the end of June when we've got our tax receipts we put it back in there. But we have to have a resolution if we have to do that. um it isn't really um necessary on the transactional side because we have the money in our own checkbooks, but this is the procedural side that you do have to make that
022inter fund transfer. If we finish up um our reports and say that we were not um positive at the end of May when we finalize all of those, we would do a transfer on paper and put it back in in June as the tax receipts come in. So, it's just the procedural. That's the same with the next one as well. >> Any questions, comments? Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mrs. H. >> Hi, >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi, >> Mr. Diesel Meyer. >> Hi, >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi, >> Mrs. Hul. I'm sorry, Mrs. Young. >> Hi, >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi, >> Mr. Herrera. >> I Okay, motion passes. Do I have a motion in a second to approve the transfer of interest as to as presented? >> I move. Okay. >> Okay. Member Hemp
023made the motion. Member H seconded the motion to approve the transfer of interest as presented. Discussion. >> Okay. This Sorry. Sorry. I feel like it's resolution day. Um this is um so that we can continue to keep the acred interest in our funds instead of it just going to fund balance. It can be used to kind of offset some of those those overages when we're over budget. We can move the um interest to other funds to use that as revenue received there. >> Any questions, comments? Any questions from Mr. Strong? >> Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. H. Hi >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi >> Mr. Dieseler. >> Hi >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi >> Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. >> Okay, motion passes. Do I
024have a motion and a second to approve the 11th month lease extension with Sesi at the Kishwaki school location as presented? I move >> member Hempy made the motion. Member Young seconded the motion to approve the 11-month lease extension with SCSI at the Kishwaki school location as presented. Any discussion that >> Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Yunk. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Hulk. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Dieseler. I, >> Mr. Piggy. >> I, >> Mr. Herrera. >> I Okay, motion passes. Do I have a motion and a second to approve the resolution authorizing the engagement of a licensed real estate broker for property located at 7133 Garden Prairie Road, Garden Prairie, Illinois, as presented? >> I move. >> Okay. >> I'll second. >> Okay. Member
025Hempy made the motion. Member Young seconded the motion to approve the resolution authorizing the engagement of a licensed real estate broker for the property located at 7133 Garden Prairie Road, Garden Prairie, Illinois as presented. Any discussion? >> Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Yunk. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Diesel. >> Hi. >> Mr. Piggy. Hi. >> Mrs. Hul. Hi. >> Mr. Herrera. Hi. Okay. Do I have a motion in a second to adopt the the resolution authorizing the sale of school district property located at 60, sorry, 633 West Perry Street, Bel, Illinois, 6108 is presented. >> I move. >> Okay. Second. >> Okay. Member Hempy made the motion. Member Mueller seconded the motion to approve the resolution authorizing the sale of school district property located at
026633 West Perry Street, Poverty, Illinois, as presented. Any discussion? >> We did need to add in there that they agreed upon minimum pricing. So, um the board had decided that we would be put a minimum bid price of 300 $300,000. >> Okay. So, do we need to restate that motion? No, it just needs to be part of your final. >> Okay. >> And it can go in the minutes. >> Okay. So, we'll have we'll include that in the minutes and then it will be part of the final. Okay. Any other discussion, comments, questions? >> Okay. See, roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempky. >> Hi, >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi, >> Mr. Dummier. >> Hi, >> Mrs. H. >> Hi, >> Mrs. Y. >> Hi, >> Mr. Piggy. I, >> Mr. Herrera. >> I Okay, motion
027passes. >> Do I have a motion in a second to approve the 2026 through 2027 administrator contract for 12-month administrator high school principal as presented? >> Salute. Okay. Second. >> Okay. Any discussion? >> I do not. >> He just Mr. >> He just text me and he is Ubering on the way here. Now he did show me a picture of the flat tire just to prove. So >> we will we will introduce >> provided the board approves his contract. We will introduce him as soon as he arrives uh here then this evening. >> All right. He's probably freaking >> but we will we will see him when he gets here. >> we will see him when he gets >> we can applaud him when he comes in the door. >> All right. Uh I'm not
028sure if I mentioned this before and I know you got it when the when it's there but member Piggy made the motion. Member Hawk seconded the motion to approve the 2026 to 2027 administrative character Douglas Mitchell 12-month principal for Bever High School effective July 1st 2026 as presented. We had our discussion. Roll call please. >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Hul. >> Hi. >> Mr. Diesel. >> Hi. >> Mr. Hempky. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Yunk. >> Hi. >> Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. >> Okay. Motion passes and we will welcome Mr. Mitchell when he gets here and congratulate him. All right. Do I have a motion in a second to approve the 2026 through 2027 administrative contract to a 10-month administrator at Central Middle School assistant principal as presented? Move.
029>> Okay. Second. >> Okay. Member Yn made the motion. Member Piggy seconded the motion to approve the 2026 through 2027 administrative contract for for Jolene Miller, 10-month assistant principal for Central Middle School effective July 1st, 2026 as presented. Any discussion? >> I do see Miss Miller is here with us today. >> Hello. Good evening. >> Good evening. >> Thank you so much. Uh I'm Jolene Miller. Um I am coming from the Indian Creek School District that is in South Dal County. So as someone that lives in Wnebago County, I'm very excited to make this move to Belvadier. Uh actually after I graduated in 2011, I was a substitute teacher in Belvadier district while I was looking for a full-time teaching position and my mom also was a teacher in the district for nearly 20 years
030and retired in 2024 from South Middle School. So I'm very excited to be joining the team. So, thank you so much. >> Thank you so much, Jolene. >> Okay. Member Peggy made the motion and member Junk seconded the motion to approve the 2026 through 2027 administrative contract for Peter Schmidt 11mon second I'm sorry 11mon secondary special education supervisor effective
031July 1st 2020 2026 as presented any discussion >> I would I would say that we also have Mr. Schmidt neck here with us this evening. >> Pleasure to be here with you all. Um I'm coming from Mckenry High School District. Um previously uh I served as an administrator in community high school district 155 in Crystal 8 as well as Rockford public schools. My wife uh and I live in Bel with our three children. My son who's a student at Central is learning about uh local government this evening and my girls are at softball practice. But we're really excited to to be making this move for our family and to support the students of the district. >> We're excited to have you here. Thank you. >> Any other further discussion? >> Okay. Roll call, please. >>
032Mr. Piggy. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi. >> Mrs. H. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Hempy. >> Hi. >> Mr. Diesel. >> Hi. >> Mr. Herrera. >> Hi. >> Motion passes. Welcome Mr. Schmidnik. Okay. Member Hempy made the motion. Member Hul seconded the motion to affirm the superintendent's April 26 April 28th and 2026 uniform grievance procedure decision for the reason stated thereof therein. Any discussion? >>
033Okay. Roll call, please. >> Mr. Hempky. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Hulk. >> Hi. >> Mrs. Young. >> Hi. >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi. >> Mr. Diesel. >> I. >> Mr. Piggy. >> I. >> Mr. Herrera. >> I. Okay. Motion passes. The following items have been added to for discussion or will be coming up for further review and/or possible action in the future. Background information has been provided and the board may ask questions and or request clarification at this time. I would like to turn uh the meeting over to Dr. Shug for administrative reports. >> All right, we have uh the superintendent comments. They are very brief this evening uh as we move into June. So, you can go ahead to the next slide for me, Miss Adley. >> Uh, we had the, uh, Perry Legacy
034Celebration. Uh, Perry really did a fantastic job. A special shout out to Sue Thomas who coordinated most of the details around that, but really in cooperation with the Perry staff uh with Katie Hornbeck. Uh and uh it was really really well attended, really really nicely done. Um an opportunity for community members really to come through and celebrate the history and the legacy of Perry Elementary School. Uh so a very very nice evening for that. Uh now that we've begun the summer, we are hosting a number of different trainings for staff. Uh one of example of this was our kindergarten playbased training that took place last year for our second and our first cohort of those kindergarten teachers who are transitioning into those play-based classrooms and uh that also is accompanied uh with the furniture that
035is more appropriate uh for those classrooms as well. Uh that went really nicely. We also had our tandem teaching by literacy training that took place uh last week and we also had uh BHS met with TNTP last week. Uh already really working on goal setting for this coming year and processing uh data and reviewing that as we prepare already for the beginning of next school year. Uh and today we kicked off summer school. So uh we are back at it in our schools today. And also wanted to highlight that we had a number of students that were recognized uh by the Boone County Arts Council in their student art show. Uh so some really nice celebrations to uh start off our summer and we have our strategic plan updates. We are missing Dr. Carson and
036Dr. Johnson this evening, but we do still have our strategic plan updates. Uh goal one, Miss Fabian, anything you would highlight there in goal one? Um you know there is continued u math and lit literacy support training for all of the implementation that uh started this uh uh school year. Um on special end uh um education end we are uh we started something and did some training for middle school ELA instructional teachers with read 180 intervention and we hope this is really going to be very impactful uh to our reading uh scores and closing some of those achievement gaps. Um and as far as preschool goes, uh um continued planning to for expansion of the PFA um program. So that's about it. >> Any questions for Miss Bobby check on goal number one. >> What
037is the read 180 intervention? So read 180 intervention has been used in the district uh previously but at the not at the special education level just as a tier three intervention. It's a program that's a a scaffolded program that allows to place uh students uh based on their reading abilities. So, if I'm a beginning reader, uh the placement test is going to show me exactly where I'm at and what type of skills I need to work on. If I'm a higher level reader, it's going to show the same. So, we have uh worked with our ELA, middle school instructional special education teachers to identify a resource uh that could support their ELA programming. We have two blocks of ELA at middle school. So one block would be spent on using general education curriculum and the
038second block of time would be used for uh intervening with those um gaps in reading. Um and the nice part about it is that read 180 as students participate in small groupoup instruction. There's also a software that they're in and they're practicing skills like I mentioned some foundational gaps that they might have had from few years prior and the teachers are able to look at the that data and plan instruction based on those gaps. It's going to pinpoint exactly what these gaps are. So, it's doing some sort of a progress monitoring for individual students and I'll be excited to bring it um as we start implementing it. So teachers started that planning over the summer, but I'll be happy to bring the data um to the board meeting because I'm really hoping for some increased
039reading scores uh through this intervention. >> It's very researchbased intervention. >> It's very much evidence and research based. Yes. >> Is it uh you said there's an app is that included in our ELA curriculum >> or is it? So it's part of the same platform that we are already using with HMH. It's just an additional application um and assessment that uh targets needs in special education basically. >> Okay. Thanks. Sounds great >> question. Any other questions on goal one? What's the RFP for the multilingual program? Uh >> good question. Uh I do you want to speak to that or you want me to speak to that show? Cool. >> Uh we uh one of our targets for our multilingual program is to do we did two years ago we did a review of programs internally
040and made uh some modifications as a result of that work. uh at that time we knew that we wanted to do an external review as well but we wanted to see what the impact was of those internal movements first. So we are doing an external uh RFP to look at those programs. We are really focusing that on our compliance with the state measures. We are focusing it on making sure that our staffing is as efficient and effective as it could be. and we are focusing on if our programming is the best programming for the population that we're currently serving. Uh so we will be bringing that for the board at business services I'm not sure July or August uh when that RFP closes. >> It would be August because it won't be done by June
04130th. >> So did I did I miss it? What did we hear the internal stuff already? >> We did. Uh so we did uh and we've been implementing the results of that audit over the past 2 years making um some modifications that we think have uh improved our programming and we've seen improved our graduation rates uh for our students who are English language learners. So uh some really positive impacts but we know that we really needed to do a deeper dive in this area. We also have made some pretty significant changes to the way we're going to do curriculum over the summer uh with some better alignment. But again, we think that there's uh staffing, programming, and compliance pieces that we really need to take a deeper look at. And uh we're going to really
042try to do that in a cost-effective way uh that's going to present ways that we can staff as efficiently as possible. So, you will see more in August on that. Great question. All right. And uh then goal two updates. Miss Fabian check, did you want to highlight anything in that area? >> Sure. So as far as uh SEAL goes, um some of the supports were um so there is there's an ongoing committee that uh kind of reviews where we are in terms of SEO SEAL. Um so uh specifically looking at supporting well-being and sense of selfworth in students building confidence. Uh there were some other things listed pre as far as beginning of the school year for jump start and web crew and link crew. And so those are the those transitions of students into
043kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade uh trans transition. Um I would uh also highlight the elementary time study. Uh so it's that was brought uh to the board by Dr. Johnson before and just a continuation uh of that plan. um as well as uh our handle with care partnership with with police. Um department uh and um on the special ed end um we one of our programs uh that addresses the needs of students with u more significant emotional disabilities. It's called the seats program. We have a work group that um looks at the entrance and exit criteria. So the work group consists of social workers and uh teachers from that program. So we've been meeting monthly and that's a continuation to uh to address um also safety plans in some uh cases where uh we
044know students need significant amount of u social emotional support. Um and I think that would be it. >> And we heard about those expanded learning opportunities in our during our board work. >> Oh the pathways. Yes. the pathways that was just presented in the work >> workshop today. >> Uh any questions on goal two? >> Goal three, family and community partnerships. Uh we've reconvened our family and community partnerships uh team. And we did decide we're going to refocus those efforts into some of our existing groups and our parent advisory team. Really excited that we're continuing to grow that parent advisory team with I think really relevant u membership to provide some good feedback on that team. We also reconvened our cell phone and electronic device research study team. Uh they confirmed that they want to
045keep those procedures in place for next year with some very modest uh recommendations for some changes. So we're updating uh some of the um paperwork for the high schools specifically to make sure that that information is really clear for our students and for our teachers at that level. That's the level where we're struggling the most with some of the consistency pieces, but also I think the level that uh previously struggled the most with cell phones. Uh so I think we're seeing uh some really really positive results in the data there and uh also uh I had the opportunity uh ed week which is a national uh education uh publication uh reached out to talk to us about our cell phone policy. So you'll see us highlighted uh in July andor August on our cell phone
046policy at the national level. So stay tuned. Uh we also met with our BPAC group uh this past month and we're really working on how we can uh strengthen our partnership with our bilingual parents uh and families in our community. Uh and that is an ongoing effort and we also are creating our first annual report since I think 2020 that is going to highlight the accomplishments of the district. We're going to have that available at the fair and we're also going to send uh postcards to people's homes with a few of those updates and then a QR code where they can access that full report. So, we are excited about that. Really trying to get the good word out about some of the great things that are happening in the school district. Any questions on
047goal three? All right, Dr. Ay, goal four. >> Just a couple things I want to highlight. Um, we completed a new staff uh rounding interviews this spring and our average satisfaction rate was a nine uh which we think is very very good. Uh we've uh began to plan for our substitute orientation in August and so we have it scheduled for August the 14th and uh along with primary workforce our uh our principal BHS just walked in. So Dr. Shug, do you want to introduce him? >> Absolutely. Uh we we are sorry to hear about your hardships, but we are very glad that you are here to join us this evening. You'll be relieved to know that they voted yes. Uh so you are officially the new BHS principal, Mr. MITCHELL. >> On the highway, the
048dash went crazy. >> No, no. Triple H just got there. They're changing the tire. I'll be back after this. We'll be good to go. I'm very thrilled to be here. Um, thank you Dr. A and Dr. Shug uh for the opportunity the board. I'm looking forward to work with all of you and very excited for an expanded future here. >> And Mr. Mitchell, anything you want to highlight about your experience? >> Um, I've been an administrator at Rocker Public Schools for the last 11 years. Before that, I was administrator at Rockford Christian as an athletic director. Um, very dedicated to student service mind, making sure that everybody has an opportunity to have the greatest schooling experience they have. really looking forward to that. My family's excited, but we're all just elated. Just happy to be
049>> congratulations and welcome. >> All right, Dr. 80, did you finish goal four? >> Yes. >> All right, any questions for Dr. That's the goal. We got a we got an audience full of hires. That is fantastic. Um and then go five, Miss Saxron. Uh, go five. I think everyone's aware. We are in the midst of construction. If you drive by any school, it has big dumpers dumpsters in front of it. Parking lots are tore up. Uh, front entrances are a mess. That is what it has to look like, I guess, to make the progress. So, um, they are working very diligently on that. I think it's exciting that, uh, business services will be at Washington Academy next on June 30th, so that you can see some of those areas under construction. and they'll, you
050know, be very limited in what you can walk through, but we'll be able to see some of that work coming together. Um, Tech has really, um, got their funding letters for -ate, so that's a big plus that we know that money is coming back to us, uh, for those technology programs. Um you just approved the amended budget and we have been having the conversations and we will continue the conversations now with FY27 uh tenative budget and I would expect that we will be addressing some of those uh finer details at our July meeting. Any questions for Mrs. Armstrong? All right. Also in superintendent comment or in um the administrative reports rather is the annual report of the agriculture departments. I really encourage you to click in there and take a look. Uh they really do
051a fantastic job preparing that report uh and highlight some of the really fantastic happen happenings with our egg programs at both BHS and at North. Also in uh the admin reports is the wellness report uh our annual report there and also you'll see the uh library media teacher job description uh that was updated as uh you know through the BEA contract we are looking at hiring for library media teachers and we uh need some people to please apply. Uh so if you are out there and you are a library media teacher uh take a look. We got some jobs. Uh, and I encourage you to apply. Again, that'll be four positions that will be available. And that, uh, window for application closes when, Dr. 80. >> Well, it's open right now. We, we opened it
052up on Friday. And so, we're hoping to get some applicants this week. We currently right now have interviews scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday. >> All right. All right. Uh, any questions on any of those reports? That brings me to the end of admin reports. President Herrera. >> Okay. Thank you, Dr. Schuv. All right. At this time, well, just looking ahead, there's a list of upcoming board meetings and events. Please refer to the board of education calendar. And then at this time, do I have a motion in a second to go back into close executive session regarding section two heading C exception sub number one of the open meetings act to discuss the appointment employment compensation discipline performance or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal council for the public body. the
053purchase or lease of real property for the use of the public body, including meetings held for the purpose of discussing whether a particular parcel should be acquired. Student disciplinary cases and litigation and when an action against affecting or on behalf of a particular body has been filed and is pending before a court or tri or or administrative tribunal or when the public body finds that an action is probably a probable or eminent. Do I have a motion? >> I move. >> All right. >> Second. >> Member Hempy made the motion. Member Mueller seconded the motion to go into exe executive session, please. I'm sorry, executive session. Roll call, please. >> Excuse me one second. >> All right, Mr. Hky. >> Hi, >> Mr. Mueller. >> Hi, >> Mr. Piggy. >> Hi, >> Mr. Domeer. >>
054Hi, >> Mrs. H. Hi, >> Mrs. Young. Hi, >> Mr. Perrera.
