I hold the vice president of the teachers union and I request from admin a certain set of emails, specific emails giving directives to members. It should be provided to me. It shouldn't even get to a point where I need to request a FOIA. So, I just wanted to share that with you all. I have not received any paperwork related to the FOIA request, even though that's what's stated in your force book. Thank you. Hi guys. Michael Johnson and Greg Waner. There are three other individuals who are part of our team who could not be here this evening, Marie Bernstein Glenn, Gwen Smith Haney and John Phillips. About a year ago, representatives of our class met with Principal Hall and his team or the one of them with a with a request. We wanted them to
help us celebrate our 55th class reunion. Like so many others, we missed our class, our 50th class reunion due to COVID. And we had also experienced a financial loss on our prior reunion and arrangement with the company that we had hired. But, what we received from Proviso East was far more than assistance. Without hesitation, Principal Hall and his team welcomed us with generosity, professionalism, and genuine care. From transportation to breakfast to the campus tour to the beautiful class banner, every detail reflected excellence and pride. And they did all of this during homecoming weekend for us, one of the busiest times of the year. At this time, I would like to ask uh one of my colleagues, Greg Waner, to come in and finish this off. Sure thing. Thanks to you. Um what really struck us
was the personal attention that we got from the entire Proviso East team. From Principal Hall welcoming each one of our returnees by name at the door, shaking our hands, it was amazing. Gloria went above and beyond the call of duty on that day of the tour. Staff was there. Some of the people who attended our reunion, who came from as far away as state of Washington corner of Florida, said the class tour was a highlight of the weekend. It was an amazing weekend for all of us and it reminded us that once a pirate, always a pirate. Tonight though, we're not here simply to repay your kindnesses. We're here to give back, to reinvest in our school, to the school that helped shape us and shape us to who we are today. We're here to
support the important work that you're doing for the students who walk the halls of Proviso. Um so on behalf of our classmates across the country and some who live abroad, we it [clears throat] is our honor and our privilege to present our gift of $7,000 from the class of 70 to Proviso East High School. Principal Hall >> [applause] [applause] >> Do you want me to take a picture of all of you together? Let me say while we're doing this, thank you. Not only for what you've done for us, but for what for what you continue to do for generations of students, before us and after us. We will never forget our welcome home. >> [applause] >> Come in front of the podium, so it's not blocking you. Are you ready? Yeah. 1 2 3 Okay.
Now this Okay, I took a whole bunch. >> [applause] >> I just got one parting remark, and that is this job is more than a gift. It represents our legacy passed forward. And anyone who's a human on the earth today, especially a a US citizen or Canadian citizen, paid attention, I hope, to Artemis 2. I'm sure that some of the people in this room know that the last human being to walk on the moon was a pirate. Yep. Maybe that suits for some folk, but that was Gene Cernan in December of 1972. It says it, nihil nisi optimum. Nothing but the best. >> [applause] >> Just want to take a moment to the class to thank the class of '70. Not so much for the contribution, but for the energy, for coming back to the
school, for all of the history that you shared with me, my staff, um and just welcoming us into Brother Rice, cuz I'm I'm not a Brother Rice pirate. >> [laughter] >> I'm not I'm not I've enjoyed my time there. I've enjoyed every year that I've been in the the whole school, the reunion, whether it was the class of '70, the class of '65, the class of '75. And you know, it's it's just been wonderful. So just to hear the history and to hear all of the things that you guys remember being in the hallway and telling me what's changed, what hasn't changed. It's really been a lot. And and in sharing that, it really feels like, you know, it's my second home. >> [snorts] >> Uh it's the high school that I remember most of
this one, because my high school was torn down. They built another one, but Brother Rice is home. Yeah. And so in sharing all of the memories, I I appreciate all of you. I remember the day that you guys came in, we had the banner up there with all of your pictures. We took all of your high school pictures Oh, that's cute. and made a banner for them. So we we didn't get all We got everybody that we knew was coming. >> [laughter] >> So a lot more showed up. So you know, it was just you just seeing your faces and how you looked at it. You looked 18 again. >> [laughter] [applause] >> Thank you very much, Class of '70. Uh our next presentation is Aptera. >> [snorts] >> Thank you all for coming. >>
[applause] >> THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THE HARDEST ACT to follow >> [laughter] >> than I've ever had before. Um we're really excited to share with you just an interim update on our um our no-cost assessment that we've been working diligently with the administration. We really appreciate everything that um has transpired since we entered into the no-cost assessment agreement with your district, and we're really excited to share where we are and get your feedback on it when time allows. Um there's a whole team of people, including Leah, who's with me today, and the rest of of our team of experts that are really looking into all of the schools and trying to help the district prioritize and create a master plan that would work within your existing budget and your operational parameters and what you're
expecting about the learning and working environment here at the district. So I will go um quickly into um I really appreciated your vision statement, and one of the core uh the core things that we bring to a school district is bringing the learning environment into a learning opportunity. So we take the facilities modernization project and we create things like paid high school internship programs and get kids excited about future careers that relate to their own buildings. So right here you see a couple of examples at both Riverton and Mendota High School, where we had paid interns throughout the summer during their project. Um we had things like career fairs, and it is a a key goal to bring in preferred and local providers into the project. So when we get to the point where we're
um implementing a project, we bring in those local and preferred providers for your district. I'm going to speed through the rest of this and get on to uh the master plan itself and where we are at today. The idea is this four-pronged approach, which is A, engaging community, staff, and students. B, increasing life cycle, safety, and compliance. C, eliminating the risk and the burden for the school district. And D, adding flexibility and control for you. So the first thing that we do is we marry the the facilities information with your financial information, and we created a three-pronged approach here. One would be just looking at the maximum amount that the school district could could fund if all projects qualified as health life safety. That is very rare, but if that were the case, the district
[clears throat] could fund up to $200 million worth of work, but that would also require a tax rate increase. We then also looked at your existing debt service extension base, which would allow for $60 million in renovations. And lastly, without any tax rate increase whatsoever, the district could fund over $30 million worth of work. So we certainly have enough to work with to create a meaningful impact in your facilities. So what we do is we look at all the things that we observed during the last couple of months as we've been working on this project. And the the things that bubbled up to the top as priority level one, again for your feedback, is impacting health, safety, security, and compliance. Ventilation, air quality, and comfort, especially at East and West. Thermal health and moisture control.
And then infrastructure, life cycle, and water quality. So this is the list uh that came to the top that we reviewed recently with the administration. And I'm going to go through each of these, and we will also share with you photos of existing conditions. I'm going to try to keep this to uh a certain number of minutes, so that um you know, I could probably spend several hours going through this. But we're going to keep it [laughter] really brief tonight and share with you the highlights. Um the electrical infrastructure at East. The domestic water piping system at West and East. The restrooms at all buildings. The moisture control in the basement in particular at East. Exterior [clears throat] doors and curtain wall in the stairwell at West and East. Roofing and drainage systems at West
and East. The windows and blinds at West and East. Um secure vestibule entrances at all buildings, and I have some samples to share with you tonight. Exterior illumination at all buildings. Pool heating solutions at West and East. The gym HVAC ventilation and cooling at West and East. The steam systems and cooling in the A and E sections of West, the CTE HVAC ventilation and cooling at West, and air handling units at East. Can you confirm or identify what the P, the X, and the N mean? >> That's Oh, they have for balancing. Um one of the items in the financial parameters is whether or not something would qualify as a health, life, safety item. So, if it says Sorry, if it says X, that means it would We expect it to qualify. P means partial.
And N would be no. Um again, we're not um in charge of the Illinois State Board of Education. We submit these on behalf of the district and hope that it will work. We know based on our experience that this is how it would turn out. Thank you. So, if that was um important to the district that things would qualify as health, life, safety, then we could submit on your behalf. So, here are just some pictures of existing conditions. I'm going to speed through these. Um electrical solutions, domestic water piping, um These are some projects that we did this summer uh to show you how invasive it is to do your piping because you're really just digging all the way through the floors. Um the restrooms. Moisture control in the basement, exterior doors. Roofing and drainage,
windows and blinds. And will I get a copy of this presentation? >> Yes. Thank you. Um so, here are the existing conditions at East. And if you wanted to reconfigure the entrance so that you could enforce a sign-in procedure for visitors in that entrance, what you can do is reconfigure slightly. And you'll see here that what we've done is we created some also some special areas for private meetings. If visitors come, you want to have separate private rooms or conference rooms and parent rooms. So, when somebody comes, they go through a screening procedure including uh the metal detector, and then they go through the You can see here we kind of flip-flop the attendance in the security area and created several offices right there in the front. So, what this does is it enforces a
sign-in procedure and a screening procedure before people will be allowed into the facility and also meeting spaces. We've done the same here at West. Um you can see the entrance at the top with the meeting spaces for parents and the security desk and screening areas. And here's Proviso [clears throat] Math and Science. We came up with There's a lot of wide-open space, so we came up with two different solutions that you could consider. And again, these are just preliminary, but here you see a visitor vestibule, then a security area with a couple of meeting rooms and the screening area down at the bottom of the the picture. And then here's another one with a larger visitor vestibule, lots of seating, and a a large screening area up at the top and a security and a
meeting room down at the bottom. So, these are just some preliminary ideas, but we do think they're all viable solutions that the district can consider. And here is just some examples of other districts where we have done these secure vestibule entrances with reception areas, etc. Um uh exterior illumination examples here, and then HVAC [clears throat] with building automation systems. We've got the pool heating, um many, many pictures of your infrastructure. At priority level two, this would Can I ask you a question? Sorry, it's it's a priority level one. The HVAC and the automation, was that specifically found in one building or all of them? The what Well, as priority level one, you have West and East. Okay. And then you'll see here at priority level two, we have Math and Science. Okay. That's still a
priority, but it could happen to be a little bit newer and >> Mhm. maybe you know, it's hard to prioritize. And this is also for your feedback. So, this is just what we This is what we think. >> Um but really it's the district's in the driver's seat. And this is our preliminary task. The reason why we continue to check back with the district is because it's critical for us to meet your goals and your needs. We're only seeing from our perspective what we saw when we when we went through the facilities. Thank you. So, in priority level two, we have health, safety, security, and compliance, noise control, life cycle and water quality, and then ventilation, air quality, and comfort specifically at Math and Science Academy. One of the reasons why it's structured the way
it is is because one of the things we want to talk with the district is the ability to understand when there are economies of scale and synergies among doing scope items together instead of taking a piecemeal approach. So, if we were to address the needs at Math and Science, sometimes it makes sense to do them simultaneously because you're mobilizing resources all at once. And if you can mobilize them multiple times, you have the impacts of inflation and also set up and tear down costs. And doing it over multiple years can sometimes cost the district more over time. >> [clears throat] >> So, we're trying to also take advantage of those economies of scale. This is We have heating, ventilation, and cooling, air handling units, cooling towers, >> [clears throat] >> heating and domestic hot water
boilers, the locker rooms at West and East, cafeteria noise control at West, and insulation in the breezeway at East, and then traffic calming and a reconfiguration of pick-up and drop-off at both West and East, and then health, life, safety. In 2028, you will have your 10-year health, life, safety due again, and we can take care of that as part of our process. Any questions about priority level two? So, we have all the pictures here of the existing conditions. And some examples of solutions. Noise control, acoustical ceiling tiles, the traffic calming. Priority level three includes resiliency, power, and illumination, and then safety, security, and compliance. On this list, we have a Primex clock, bell, and intercom um upgrade at Math and Science and at West, the auditorium sound and stage solutions at Math and Science, theater
lighting and controls at East, lighting, daylighting, and controls at Math and Science and Proviso West, and then fire protection and fire hydrant repair per the village at West. And then finally, level four life cycle >> [clears throat] >> and food quality and effective use of space. This is um the unused spaces to renovate and repurpose at West and East, science lab renovations at West, CTE classroom and welding and home uh home ec ed remodel at West, the food court and serving line reconfiguration at West and Math and Science, kitchen equipment and serving line upgrade and reconfiguration at Math and Science, auto shop add or remodel at West, storage facility at Math and Science, emergency fire exit for the fourth and fifth floors at Math and Science, field house expand or renovate at East, Memorial Building
renovate at East, and then Performing Arts renovate at East. So, I know that's quite a lot to absorb. Anybody would like me to go back to anything that I went through too quickly? I'm good. I just have a question. So, I was kind of my original HVAC question was kind of directly related to Memorial Hall at Proviso East because right now we don't have that level of temperature control, right? And it houses our musical instruments, and that's probably not great if we don't have like correct temperature control. So, I was really curious to see where Memorial Hall kind of fell into the priorities. And if you probably don't maybe have this level, but there's a difference between renovating and like tearing down and rebuilding. Do you also have suggestions on that level of like cost-benefit
analysis? Like, is this worth renovating or is this like a a tear-down project? Uh that's a great question, and if that's something that you would like us to analyze, we can easily do that. What hasn't been part of our uh analysis to date. Um we did have that section of the building HVAC included in the priority level one, but if the if the board feels that, you know, maybe we don't want to pour money into something that needs to be rebuilt, then we can run that analysis for you then when we start to build. Thank you. I probably have more questions once I see the like Yeah, it's quite a lot to absorb in a very short period of time at a board meeting, but we wanted to give you a flavor for where we're
heading and um I look at this uh, master planning approach as, you know, we're a train and we're going in a certain direction and we're trying to get to the station where you want us to go. So, if we're heading [clears throat] to this station and you want us to be heading to this station, we have periodic check-in points with you to make sure we're heading in the right in the right direction. So, this is just a an initial great conversation to have and we would love to have your feedback. We're really excited to be able to share it with you. I have a question. In your priority level three regarding the traffic control, you did not include Oh, maybe you did. It was in level two, I think. Two, you were I didn't see
PMSA included and I just recently saw a video that gave me anxiety. >> [laughter] >> And people stopping in the mid like Yeah. So, I did I was wondering why PMSA wasn't included in the traffic calming or the I'll ask my engineer and get back to you. I don't I don't recall, um, but that doesn't mean but I I I get anxiety. For me, the biggest anxiety I get with traffic because I feel like you know >> [clears throat] >> Well, I think they don't have a lot of directions and then some right someone was parked in the out right like they were supposed to be going straight and that person was parked where this person should have been able to get through. It was like a whole thing and I'm like that I mean,
yes, I get it cuz I live next to a school and I have to drive past that school to get my kids to the next school. So, it was beyond that kind of anxiety. >> [laughter] >> It was like Well, we can always look at it doesn't always necessarily require a completely configuration. Sometimes there's just wayfinding and we can tell people where they're supposed to go and where they're not supposed to go and that can solve a problem. Signage, direction arrows things like that. Things like that. So, if we can find low-cost ways for the district to solve some of these problems, we'll take a look for all those, but I will get back to you about master signage. Thank you. Thank you. We look forward to working with you. I think we all will
be once we get that in contact information, I think we'd all love to to share share more. Absolutely. That's really thanks for the time. I appreciate it. Thank you. Uh, our next presentation is from PLCCA. Thank you so much for coming. Thank you. Have a good night. Thank you. [clears throat] We get two? I don't know. We're lucky today. Thank you so much. >> [clears throat] >> Greetings, distinguished members of the board, uh, community members and educators. Uh, thank you for having us here. My name is Lonnie Swilling. I'm the senior director of administration of PLCCA. Uh, the gentleman passing you guys out with those documents cuz I'm also a senior director of administration of PLCCA and the presenter uh, for this project. Herbert House is the director of funding and training. Uh, come to
you to give the history and the opportunity that we had to work through a grant in order to employ youth from Proviso Township schools, uh, which we've done uh, consistently for the last four years. Last year, obviously there was a hiccup due to funding we talked about that before. Explanations can be given upon question asked at the end. Um, here we are here representing President CBO Lottie Carroll and uh, PLCCA and we're here to continue to take the long-term relationship. Uh, we have not ever had a time in the history of operating with PLCCA and Proviso Township School District 209 where it was ever contentious and everything that we've ever done always has been led for the success. In this moment, I would love to introduce Herbert House so that he can explain to you
guys his wonderful youth employment opportunity. Good evening, [clears throat] board. Good evening. >> [clears throat] >> All right. So, um a couple things about our our youth uh, Illinois Youth Investment Program, IYIP. One of this is that we can offer students jobs ages 16 and 24. And what we come to you all today is uh, due to the delayed funding, we was able to get the funding, so now we can do two cohorts. We would like to do a cohort starting the week of May 18th that will run from May 18th to June 30th. The second cohort runs July 1st through August. And we would like to hire uh, employ 25 students in each cohort. Our request from you all, uh, each each cohort max a minimum of 180 hours uh, for up to 10
weeks per student. But that first cohort, because we had a short window of time and we have the fund, that that window will exactly be six weeks. So, May 18th to June 30th will be uh, six weeks. And during that time, we will also do the onboarding and orientation as well. So, what we are talking about for the benefits, maximum hours 25 hours a week, competitive pay from $15.80 up to $17 an hour. That is including payroll taxes, all right? Um, student uh, students will receive a $250 incentive for completing our onboarding through IYIP. We can do that here in-house at the schools or they can come over to PLCCA and do the orientation there as well. Um, benefits for the program, students learn case management, life skills, counseling, work readiness training. Also, one thing
that we do at PLCCA, we can give them job readiness skills. We help them update their resume, help them with interview skills and things of that nature. Paid entry-level work experience developed and um, they will be able to get employment skills afterwards. So, what we are asking for you provide the job description, you will do the recruitment, we will do the training. So, you all recruit the students, provide the students with us, we will take care of that onboarding and we will make sure they get their $250 uh, stipend for completing orientation. You will submit invoice to PLCCA by the 5th of every month to be reimbursed. So, you submit to us on the 5th, we submit to the state by the 10th, we will get the funds by the 15th of the following month
to reimburse. So, here's the reimbursement again. By the 5th of each month, uh, what we're asking is you submitting that for the documentation. We need a copy of the youth check stubs as well as signing sheets that go along with the information we submitted to the state so they know how much to send back and we can reimburse you. Once payments come to us, we will uh, provide payment to you all. Any questions, comments, or concerns? That is the same reimbursement schedule that we used the last right Dr. Hill and that was that was youth like that worked really well for us. Perfect. I just wanted to confirm that there weren't any major changes. Yeah, no no no changes to the uh, to the reimbursement method. Perfect. You good? Only thing only thing that would
be different this year is that we're asking for the contact person um, for the district as well as a finance person to join a Zoom where our finance team will go over the full reimbursement to make sure that we all uh, are done across our districts. Okay. We can do that. Perfect. Thank you. I know you mentioned that, but what kind of work would they be doing? I know you're going to prepare them and help them with their resume, but what kind of work would they actually be doing? So, in the past, District 209 staffed them and you all assigned their roles. So, you you all assigned their roles and under Principal Hall, he would make sure they get office skills, they all get placed. And one thing what we would do is make sure
you and they get trained and things of that nature. So, if it's going to be clerical, we're going to show them how to do some cakes and those dollars and that nature. Okay. Is this only for East? District 209. What's up? I was like, you said that all of it and I'm like, is this only for one location? I was the only one here, but >> [laughter] >> represent them all for the students. All right. Thank you for your time. Thank you. Thank you so much. Thank you guys so much for coming. Thank you. Thank you. Have a good night. Principal move on to recognitions? Yeah, see if our principals have any recognitions for this month. I'll start with Proviso East. for this month. I'll start with the black weeks. I'm not good. No, you're
good. before the board last month but started in March. At this time I'd like to call Miss Bridges and Miss Alvarez, two counselors that have been the lead counselors and the facilitators of our credit recovery Is [applause] that a song? We looked at credit recovery after the first semester and we were working with one of our partners really trying to make sure that we were able to support our student population and give them the support they need in credit recovery. We had a conversation prior to and made a change. We got the first cohort going January 4th. Again, we started another one in March and then and since January 4th from the report I got today, we track this weekly. So I meet with them weekly. I meet with the counselors weekly. Also with the
credit recovery teachers. Really give them we set goals for the students for them to achieve on a week to week basis. We do check-ins. We talk about it in our SST meetings that we have weekly with our grade level teams and Dr. McIntosh and really just try to push the kids to make sure that they're successful. So since March 87 students is we we scheduled we reconfigured their schedules to support this. We put them in front of a teacher on a day to day basis. They're getting close to 5 hours instruction a week in those credit recovery classes and we set goals for them. 87 students since you guys approved this in March have completed a credit recovery course and since January 120 students So I want to give them [applause] an award. I'm in
the forefront date data so that I can support our team and support our teachers. You have anything to add? Thank you. I want to give you a robe. >> [laughter] >> I've been working one of the last 5 years and and and you know, it's taken a lot to get to this point because we really had to work and really streamline it to the point where we had to push the kids and incentivize the kids and really give them the outcome we're looking for. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. >> [applause] >> Good evening to everyone. Good evening. I just wanted to recognize the award. Although Alyssa is not here, 30 of our students just participated I heard about 30 minutes ago 30 minutes ago and being recognized for the
National Honor Society. So we're proud that we had 27 young ladies and three young men. >> [applause] >> So we did not ask them to come tonight but we're really proud of everything that they've done and the efforts that they've had with our school. So I'm really proud of Alyssa not being here. Hopefully she goes home gets some rest but we wanted to acknowledge all of our students that participated in this ceremony tonight. Thanks. >> [applause] >> Good evening board. Good evening. As you know, we have departments rotating and recognizing students. Each department chooses a student of the month one per grade level. This month it was a world language department that chose four amazing students. So we'll start with Zoe Kiddings. >> [applause] >> Diego Andrade. >> [applause] >> So what about Diego? Diego
is a sophomore student in the Spanish immersion track. He is a kind student loved by everyone around him. A natural leader. He consistently steps up in the classroom guiding classmates, strengthening group work and creating space with a lot of energy. Diego embodies humility, dedication and pride of Henrico. And I'm going to say it in Spanish we have his hands here as well. >> [applause] >> Tiffany Talavera Romero. That is that is Tiffany. Can we get a picture of Diego? One, two, three. >> [applause] [clears throat] >> Thank you. is it for recognition. reports. Good evening. I wanted to let staff, students and community members know that the Board of Education completed its annual evaluation of Superintendent Mr. Moheb. I appreciate all of the Board of Education members for their time and attention given to this
important annual process which supports ongoing reflection and the continued progress of the district. Mr. Moheb, your time, collaboration and professionalism throughout the completion of your Superintendent evaluation and your engagement in the process and commitment to reflection are appreciated. Thank you. Now we are moving to reports and updates from the student board members. Who's going to go first tonight? >> [laughter] >> Good evening. As I mentioned before, I wanted to make the second floor a lounge. We really need the better field house and updated sports equipment. We right now our equipment is so outdated that we ordered first student and actual safety equipment. I believe we can work together to improve this. Our school clubs can help by ordering our apples or by raising money to purchase some of the clubs. This will bring the students
together and show how much we care about improving our school. I want to push for a better school year especially in the gym for both students and teachers. Everyone deserves a safe, supportive and motivating space. By improving our field house and equipment, we can create a stronger and more positive environment for our whole school. I'm going to keep trying to make this happen and as a student I can agree with others that the team needs to happen and I'll keep at it. Thank you. Also Mr. Moheb, can we make sure that our Kira guests also connect with our three student board members because I think they have probably like the best pulse on what the students look like. Yeah. Thank you. Good evening everyone. My name is I represent the NSA and some updates and
follow ups on what we're doing at Hermitage currently. AP testing is starting starting soon. I believe it personally 85 starts May 4th. And should be going on until May I want to say 18th. Also ACT has been placed for juniors and has been completed. Um the sophomores and freshmen are coming back Monday to finish their pieces that they had cancelled before. And NYCSY only news in Ames town is this week. Um British week which is the upcoming play for our school. Um also other things that students need pulled out certain students need pulled out during class that have interviews with incoming hiring hirings for positions at our school. And the final update is that currently there is talks to remove a certain mural of um someone we have a mural outside who may not have
aged exactly well. Um so that's currently being discussed and should be taking place soon. And that is it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. Can you repeat the last section just cuz so we could could hear it the mural? Of the mural? Um there is plans to um update the murals outside. Okay. Okay. Thank you. >> [laughter] >> That's awesome. Thank you. Uh reports and medications from Mr. Hill. Yes. So before Dr. Hill takes the mic and um from there we'll move on to the information items. I just wanted to give you a brief statement. We don't have much in terms of the communications. Um but I do feel April provides us with an important opportunity to recognize and celebrate several meaningful areas across our district. First we proudly acknowledge our assistant principals
for their leadership, dedication, and daily commitment to supporting students, and school operations. Their work is essential to the success of our schools. We also recognize Autism Acceptance Month and we affirm our commitment to creating inclusive learning environments where every student is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. We continue this commitment to our community involvement with the upcoming walk that will be taking place this Saturday for Autism Awareness. April is also a time to highlight student environmental leadership as many of our students continue to demonstrate responsibility and innovation through sustainability efforts and service to the community. In addition, we celebrate Arab American Heritage Month to honor the rich history, culture, and contributions of Arab American individuals and families within our schools and broader community. Finally, during Financial Literacy Month we recognize the importance of preparing students
for life beyond graduation through financial literacy education, career technical technical education pathways, and real real-world readiness skills. We are proud of the many ways our schools continue to elevate excellence and look forward to engaging in all these areas [clears throat] for continued improvement throughout the years. And with that I'll turn it over to Dr. Hill. The word for the month. Good [clears throat] evening, everyone. Good evening. Okay, treasurer's report. Right now um as of March 18th or since March 18th we have received $33 million in tax revenue. Um money is coming in quickly and so we are pleased about that. So our proposed revenue for the year thus far we received $80 million. We are expecting to receive $127 million prior to June 30th so stay tuned for that. Um as it relates to our
expenditures we see we are at 69%. So if you take a look at the treasurer's report we're pretty close. We're like 6% off on revenues and expenditures we're still slightly under um but we're getting there. So happy to hear about that. And then we have the bill list. Are there any questions pertaining to the bill list? And I do want to say for the next couple months that bill list will be quite hefty. Um tomorrow is tax day but it's also our last day to enter requisitions in the system for Proviso. So we're in the process of closing out for the year and reconciling. So we have been working diligently with all building leaders and department heads to make sure that we're able to close out successfully by June 30th. Okay? Thank you guys. Have
a great one. Thank you, Dr. Hill. I would like to move on to the information items. Of course. It's my turn so let me read it opportunity for us. Does Can I first instead of John Furman does anybody have any questions on any of these information items? These are all All of these were introduced to you at the last council. So we're happy to answer any questions otherwise we can move on to the consent agenda. Are we good to move? And there's been no changes from the information that we got previously. That's right. Yeah. And they're still information so we're not voting on any of it. Voting on four items tonight. >> [laughter] >> I'm kidding. >> [laughter] >> All right. So then we can move on to our approval items. Tonight we have a
consent agenda so partial consent agenda. 051Ms. Morris? Aye. Dr. Fischer? Aye. Ms. Barber-Hill? Aye. Ms. Smith? Aye. Motion carried. I'm missing an item. 20 and 21. I think 20 and 21 should be Is it just Oh. I'm sorry. Those were 18. 20 is FOIA. Can we please do the FOIA reports? Between March 19th, 2026 and March 25th, 2026 there have been seven FOIA requests received by the district. These FOIA requests FOIA request was submitted by Pete P.J. Fontana, Pete Bailey, C.T. Mills, Justin Renee, Michaela Soto, and Sherry Reed. Four have been responded to and three are in process due to this time of submittal. Thank you. Item 21 is there any old business? New business? You can go ahead. I have three points. Okay. In reference to 14C, I believe that's the insurance rates. Uh I would like for us to
start exploring different options, possibly hopefully reduce costs. Uh one one such option is a government efficiency pool, right? And so, I'm also a board member of the county treasurer's office. And we're looking at ways to consolidate licenses using a pooling methodology. And insurance will I I plan on bringing up insurance um for discussion so that we can again consolidate into the pool and hopefully reduce the costs. Thank you. And is there Yes. Uh Mr. Moghadam, next month was uh Arab American Heritage [clears throat] Month. And I was wondering if the schools were doing anything to celebrate the history of Arab Arab Americans. I will collect that information and get back to you. If they have done something, I'll let you know. Awesome. And next month is Asian American Pacific Islander Month. So, I was wondering
if there's anything planned. Yes. Yes. There was last year, I believe. I don't remember if we had that last school year, but I do remember that we had a parent assembly. Uh some of the schools have already had a parent assembly meeting. And then the student assembly um they make uh for the 20-minute quick period with the different grades. And then uh we do an assembly. Thank you. And oh, last point. So, um we approve as a board a bunch of different programs, software, learning technologies, etc., etc. And uh literature and research tends to back these as important and show the effectiveness, right? My worry is that are we able to prove that they're effective for our students and are we making sure we're not um overlapping with any other things that we've already bought
or can otherwise not have to spend money on it. So, if it's possible and I'm calling this a program cost and efficacy spreadsheet, right? Where it has some or each row is I'm just imagining it. Each row would be the program and then one of the columns would be uh what it supports, what subject, grade, etc., um cost, and like how many students it supports, how many teachers use it, and its effectiveness. Because I'm I'm worried that we will be spending too much money in the future. And And it caught my attention in particularly because the costs go up faster than inflation and faster than we can we can raise taxes. And one I'd rather not raise taxes, but see where we can save money where we can. And I think uh Ms. Lee has
done presentations very similar to that in the past. I don't remember if we had that last school year, but I do remember she did one where she had all of our programs and what it covered. So, um Mr. Moghadam, we'd love to kind of maybe connect with Ms. Lee cuz I know she put a fabulous presentation together. We can pull that information. You can also meet Anytime we're about to get before you even bring something to you for uh for for consideration for purchase, we have what's called a pre-purchase committee. And this pre-purchase review committee, we do take a look at any of the items that have come forward. And those are some of the questions you asked, um board member Richardson, around cost, usage, effectiveness. These are the things that we're talking about to
your end that we don't want to purchase things that can be used in different ways. And so, there has been some pushback on some supplemental programs that we've used in the past that we cannot continue this year um because we have similar services or products that we bought. So, our Awesome. our universal program not universal, our our core publishing programs. And perhaps maybe present that to us, too, so we know services that are in there using the the tools that are in there instead of going out and getting something new. And so, those are some Those are some of the questions we ask. Um we also want to look at what is We always want the best for our kids, but we always If there is an overlap, we want to make sure that it's
it's it's meaningful and it's useful, right? It's it's it's it's the two sides of the squeeze really when it comes to it. If it's not, we don't want to We're not going to purchase that. Yes. So, since I'm sorry. Uh please go ahead. So, since we do have a internal research team now, we can do the math and statistics to figure out whether or not even though a program may be effective at the aggregate generally for a population of students, does it work for our students? Right. Right. So, would love that. Thank you for explaining that. Yeah. I want to see you have a committee here to make sure the right people are in these meetings um to discuss these programs. We have a I'm pretty sure wealth of knowledge um since most of these
programs kind of have been around probably for the current administration. Make sure the staff that's already working here out in the role um to discuss these various programs. And then also with some of these programs, I was looking at a few things online. They have extensions that's cheaper probably than adding on another product. So, we can make sure we touch bases and know if an extension to that a product we already use would be more cost-effective picking up another program than another group of people have to learn. And to make sure that when a staff is coming on, all these various programs that we can keep them organized by department, who uses what so that you can properly train. So, we're being um being We're preparing them for succession when they get here versus everybody
scrambling around asking. I I do have uh one thing to say. Uh we've talked about you know uh ethnicities, but today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. So, today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Thank you for honoring this day. Anything else? I'll move. May I have a motion to adjourn? So moved. Second. On the question? Aye. Aye. Any nays? Motion is Safe travels. Hopefully we can all get
