um let's see yeah so I can go to the questions again if any anyone has any specific questions about anything that was added here please let me know but as far as the questions go um the first question we have here um is regarding anti-bias education and the uh basically the question is does the district provide antias education and conflict resolution so are we aware of that what did that look like anti-bias education I have a note here that I'll explain it more it's basically one second antias education allows districts to incorporate activities to address Intergroup conflict with the object objectives of improving Intergroup relations on and Beyond the school campus diffusing Intergroup tensions and promoting peaceful resolution of conduct of conflict um so if you're unsure usually the answer would be a no but
you would want to just check with um potentially whoever is in charge of the curriculum at your District to ensure that nothing like this is being offered so this is different from like a cultural respons of teaching yes yeah and it's pretty new so um it is an option and again you can discuss it with the full board and see what they say but so almost diversity equity and inclusion exactly 100% yes yep um and the second question along with this policy is um regarding sex head um so not sure if you're aware but recently um the family life and sex education was repealed and replaced with the national sex ad standards are you aware if the district has changed and is offering uh national sex ad standards for your sex ad I really don't
know yeah sure so then and that's very common people will usually ask their superintendent or again someone who's in charge of the curriculum um because you can't know everything I you know so um so that's fine so this is just these two questions what we can follow up on um when you go to log your answers on press plus uh once they're decided on by the board you would just go in let me show you real fast go into policy 660 open questions window and then you just answer them right here and it basically tells us what to do so if you answered yes to offering of is education we would leave it in as the default language that says you offer it if it says no it says right here what we exactly remove
from the policy so we really try to lay it out very straightforward and show you what the policy will look like like regardless of what option you choose um so those are more difficult questions not all of them will be like that a lot of them are much simpler um yeah we can move on to 710 unless there are any other questions on oh you there's one more question on 660 actually um it's that does the board offer a unit of instruction in grades 9 to 12 the process of naturalization what that's an immigration um so again this is just um something that you can follow up with with whoever you need is that number seven you're talking about citizenship values must be taught I believe let's see it be number 11 is where the
question comes in oh okay yeah question three it's on number 11 in the policy so it says I if you said yes and you want to offer it we would add this sentence um in grades 9 through 12 a unit of instruction about the process of naturalization by which a foreign citizen or forign national becomes a US citizen that includes content from the components of the naturalization test administered by the US citizen ship and immigration services so again we really try to spell out what would be added um but again discuss and just let us know what you want to do okay can I ask about number 12 yeah this just imag what push would be for mylees um I teach you know my kids how to use SCH I take the time to geted
to how to do Microsoft um so when they're saying that you know they want intens instruction computer literacy what microft so um what it's what I can tell you is that our press editors are are legal team has a note here that says at the time of press issue 8 press press issue 108's publication no definition or further information from ISB exist about what computer literacy means so it seems like it's kind of a topic that is pry up in the air when this happens we usually wait until we hear back from them about like further information and then in the future there will be a press update um adding but it seems pretty open-ended as it sits right now yes is there no one from the administration here no they're not here you know
because it would be helpful if there was someone from the administration answer questions well they should have been here but they're not okay thank you you're welcome absolutely um and again that question was very difficult there are easier ones that are coming up so um we can keep moving um 710 would be next um this was just just simple updates a lot of them um you know sometimes we'll catch an area that needed to be just have an extra sentence and put it in there but this was just says the superintendent she appointed not a discrimination coordinator who also serves as the district Title 9 coordinator that is is that I'm sorry oh sorry 710 policy do we have that do we have an equal opportunity I'm Sor no we do not not that that's
clearly not we should so you do have this policy in your current policy manual but it could be that you just need the procedures to help you get it you know um and again that Press online access will be a big help with that um the updates to this policy were very straightforward um again just saying that your non-discrimination coordinator also serves as your title 9 coordinator um which checks out with the rest of your policies the question here um okay uh at the top here it says uh equal educational and extracurricular opportunity shall be available for all students without regard to Color Race nationality religion sex sexual orientation ancestry age physical or me mental disability gender identity and this question is basically saying you can replace gender identity with the more inclusive term gender
gender identity whether or not traditionally associated with the student's sex assigned at BIR gender expression instead of just saying term gender identity okay um so um again this is something you could discuss with the board um but uh that is an option we have in the [Music] policy ask yeah oh um so that's the question um and again you can discuss it now or you can discuss it with the full board doesn't really matter but um it's just an option and that thank yeah I'm looking for the question thank you yeah so if you look like it when it says q1 in the policy uh that's where the question will add language basically and then the questions are always on the next page um yeah so that's 710 7160 would be next anyone has any
comments on 710 or questions Cent Thomas I think I know what you're talking about yep yeah I think it's this right here 2260 you made a unique edit [Music] uh right here right yes okay oh I know I I don't I don't know when that happen so this isn't published or anything this is just what someone at your District put in for right now [Music] um okay so someone sent you that then right if these are correct we will make the change for you you need to get the names make difference I'm going to have to have a discussion about that because I was not and I'm the policy chair so I was not yeah absolutely absolutely so what I'll do is I'll cancel this make [Music] sure so we don't give board members access
to PR plus because it should be a joint decision so usually it'll be like the secretary of the board uh sometimes the superintendent's Administrative Assistant um things like it's up to the yeah and I can check too um but again that it's not published or anything right now it's sitting um this is what the published version looks like this probably needs to be updated I'm assuming but yeah okay so just shoot me an email okay let's see um so yes 710 was about adding uh just a more inclusive term instead of just juder identity just we can expand upon it so that's the story behind that um and then 7160 page 12 yeah page 12 um this is a student appearance policy um so there were just changes here based on legislation that was passed
um again it's pretty standard but if there are any questions about it just let me know and then there is one question that goes along with this policy um I think this is an important one because we had some discussion about and one of the things that came up was head head wraps and scarves and quite frankly in reading the legislation and knowing a little bit about the crown act I would imagine that head wraps also would be covered because they tie back to the ethnicity and the background of the African culture so I know that that was an issue that came up in terms of kids who were um you know head absolutely absolutely and even though it it it says um it says but not limited to protective hairstyles and because of that
language I would argue legally it would cover a head WRA y absolutely particularly because of Muslim absolutely um and actually the question that goes along with this um you can expand this sentence that says the district does not prohibit hairstyles historically associated with race um his yeah historically associated with race ethnicity um you can add hair texture or any other protected classes in board policy 710 equal educational opportunities that makes it more inclusive um you're covering all prep classes and whatnot so if you are interested in doing that um just bring it to for and if they say yes we can absolutely yeah yeah yeah so it's on the bottom of page 12 you okay yeah yeah yeah um so we just add up the statement or any other protected classes under policy 7 I
do get a lot of boards that are look to adopt that language um so I wonder what that means though in other protected classes I'm not clear what that means because in the legislation it doesn't talk about other protected classes it talks about other protected hairstyles because it specifically references the crown act the crown Act of Illinois is specific yes yes um is not protected under title saath so I don't know what when you say and or any other protected classes in line with that I'm not sure what that means um something like but I don't know what it means so I'm saying when you put a policy right I don't know I don't know because the crown Act is specific to protecting africanamerican hairstyles specifically that's what the crown in Illinois passed the crown
act for both schools and employment so I'm saying when you say other protected classes other protected classes um I don't know you mean under tile 7 the other protected classes I don't know what that means that's all I'm saying that I that I would interpret it would be something like again a Muslim student wearing AJ or bka or you know and that's religious so that would be covered under religious discrimination under title s and then the other thing I guess I'm thinking of here too is like you know we do if you have a kid who has cancer and they're coming to school and they can that's okay and all that I'm saying is everything is not a class class is defined by Statute and I'm saying under titles seven classes are clearly defined right
so when we because that language doesn't come out of the statute and we're saying you can add that language all that I'm saying is if we choose to add that language we need to be able to identify what we're talking about we add that langu we can't talk about right because I don't want you know I'm saying to you that the crown Act was specifically passed because title 7 did not protect African-American women who wore braids locks twists it did not and and yeah African-American people who wore those hairstyles it was very specific and that's all I'm saying to you I don't understand when you say I could understand if you're saying we're extending it to make sure that we're including EDS or something like that but when you say other classes yeah to me
that's very Broad and I don't know how if someone were to ask me yeah if I were a school board member or an administrator well what are the other classes what are they all saying so that's why I think I'd be careful saying about adding that language without being able to Define what it means yeah so at this point we canfy which kind ofthing or which body parts we don't want exposed either and I think that there's the fact that we do have you know even at that rate when we're talking about things like on heads some schools allow kids to wear their baseball caps others were all out there going take your head off yeah I mean and a lot of this if you have like more detailed questions specifically about it it would
be good to discuss it with your board attorney I'm not an attorney so I can't do like details about it but that's a great point and that's something that you know you can bring to the whole board as you know what was discussed at the policy and I just think you have to be really careful about interpreting legal language to cover because the crown act does not cover other classes not me do that yes and other classes are covered under title s so a student with answer would be covered under the Rehabilitation Act or under you know the American with Disabilities Act Right so there are Avenues to address a burka to address a student under title 7 itself or under the American with Disabilities Act so some of that's covered that's great 100% um
and if you have further questions about this policy or what it exactly refers to as the other proteced classes please shoot me email I'm happy to disc um okay then we can move on to 7190 this is on page 14 yeah page it starts on page 14 but there aren't any changes on page 14 um the only change uh at the beginning at least is a number five in the policy um it says unless otherwise B uh otherwise banned under this policy or by the building principle all electronic devices must be kept powered off or silenced and out of sight um that is optional language question is are cell phones required to be out of sight or can they have them but just have them on silent I tell I think I think a lot
of it has now come down to teacher discretion at least what I have seen here in this building and then I mean my expectation with my students has been basically I expect you to keep the phone in your backpack so you're not distracted that's how I look at it um but I'm also not going to make a power struggle over and say you're written up for that too because we're dealing you know 10 years ago it was a different story but now we're dealing with kids who were born with smartphones in their hands can help yeah absolutely so um and I do understand u m is coming from but I think if we're looking at a policy it can't be the expectation my thinking is is that if this is set then the board is
supporting the admin the admin is supporting the teachers and so it's not a discretion thing it's if we're saying off and out of sight that's what it's going to be that's what you know teacher must enforce must enforce the teacher enforces and the expectation I know that what we've been doing has been you know pick and choosing battles because I'll be honest I'm not going to be a hypocrite I've been guilty of it but if it's a policy if we're sitting here as a policy committee and saying that this is what it is then this is what's being enforced I don't think we're coming here to to waste time to say maybe maybe not I think we've all come here to say this is what it's going to be oh is that I don't know
that we made that decision we made cuz either either either we make the decision either or either or either you're not going to require that districtwide and you will leave it up discre or yeah here though that you know if you keep going on said they should be outside unless the supervising teach permission or use of the devices provided in the student I it's used during the student lunch period or it's needed in emergency I mean basically that's the same rule that they have at my son's school yeah so that the end of that gives you does give you that flexibility when they leave it up to um the teacher it still doesn't set a standard you know because is like well I do it in this class so I can't do this class so
it should be straightforward this is the policy you know and that's it and that's all H don't put the H phone where they is visible or have a phone y you know doing that is Wishy wasy that's like a double and that's where we at right now yeah and I I mean sometimes I say this but like when kids their Chargers I don't have any extra Chargers now because I had kids who accidentally took my Chargers so you know I have to let them use the phone we playing like a cahoot or something it but we have computers though so right but the thing the kids doesn't have a charger see what I'm saying okay then we have to use our classmate charger it's other other avenues through it this coming from my perspective as
a student body person remember so here's the thing so my students today like I have them no I don't have one ask your classmates nobody had a charger with them in my classroom today so but my question is if they're playing Cahoots they can't play Cahoots on their laptop they can only play it on a phone no if they don't have the charger they can play it on their laptop oh they don't have a charger to their laptop their laptop is not charged right well how do you okay a lot of the kids a lot of the kids like plug in their computers at night sometimes or don't they leave the charger at home it's like I feel like they have to be given two Chargers one for home one for school or something like
that no we just have to be he account that's the simple fact about this is just where I feel we're I think what they need to learn is when you pack your computer and whatever bag you packing in your charger must be in that bag computer all the time and I always have my charger with me I make it a habit right so I think if we teach them it will become a habit I tried I tell them but sometime my grandmother said it best you can say it all you want but you have to practice it you can it can go in one ear out the other but you have to do the work so it's time for us to start doing the work so if the computer dies the computer dies and you
have to figure it out and use pencil and paper and lose participation point but we got to keep it going if my gr is okay yeah I will say real fast um if you there is an option in the footnotes on Press online if you wanted to out WR ban cell phones you can do that uh would just say using or possessing a cell phone uh unless is is prohibited unless authorized by the dealing principle so there are options out there um and please feel free to use Press online um to find those [Music] 7315 um on page [Music] 21 um so this is the restrictions on Publications policy again pretty Stander changes and whatnot so anyone has any questions just let me know um the main um thing you might want to look at
is the student journalist must section because it is standard for what student journalists must follow um but that said we do have a question that goes along with it um to provide student journalists more flexibility essentially instead of saying student journalists must we could say student journalist shall strive to so it doesn't tie them that necessarily having to do it or you know they face consequences they shall strive to instead and that's right here any questions about that or yeah do we have but that's not we do so when they do come back this would just be standards that they would have to follow or stri follow and then there's also a question um on page 22 uh four number four letter B um let me exp the question um so it says school officials
must be careful to understand that the law is written um that student journalists using media to incite other students to act a certain way is the exception additional text may be added to one underscore that the statute does not authorize a protet expression that incites students to violate or policy um so basically for boards that want to provide additional text for word to word statutory language um so this is directly from the statute you could add this statement which says included but not limited to one it's educational mission in policies 130 um speech that is socially inappropriate um and things like that so again just additional language that you could offer so does that make sense where that would be added okay so again those are just questions that let you know what can be
added and what um you know what options you have I guess and then right here also on page 22 where you see the two3 there's one more question that I can discuss and that is uh for boards that want a student media advisor to provide student journalist with written justification prior to limiting materials you can insert a sentence that says in such cases cases the student media advisor will promptly provide the student journalist with a written justification prior to limitate the material what number is that you want it's question number three the question is on page 25 and the where it would change uh language is on uh page 22 I guess one question I do have here is uh anything that is a non School sponsor social mhm messaging type of thing or something
like that is two years ago our kids walked out you know to make a statement about contract teacher contract everything but it was all done by on socialia and you know I you know they all the kids it was like Melee so you know so I'm think about back that you know I don't know any I don't know anything about what this consequences if any if any were different but I just wonder you know if we we had something like that again and what I think about is the safety of students would we be holding or do we have any language in this that would cover something like that yeah we do have a a section about uh like off campus language this is on campus we have like a subsection on off campus that
said it is such a sticky area yeah so you know I there also like kids creating I mean where I live there was a teacher was threatened by a lot of other things yous make you know Instagram things about how much they hate this teacher whatever and that's one of the things I would like cover that inves student at that rate the police are technically supposed to be called in on some of these things well if there's a threat if there's an actual threat I think that's quite different than someone saying I don't like my teacher on social media that's usually usually these things it's not so much I don't like kind of thing it goes a little bit further I just kept it very mild for the purposes of the broadcast here but I
have seen a lot of things but 10 years ago in plan field where I lived there was a teacher who was threatened on Twitter by a kid where his K said the describe what he was going to do with her and I believe that there but that should have been called to the police and it was an actual direct threat than it's actual the police were informed and stuff the school was there and everything they transferred the teacher to another building but it's just again the whole point of do we get something you know where we can cover it or even at that rate like my son when he was a freshman in high school he had a group of kids who created an Instagram page called the Robbie Lasser fan club but it was
something where they put on a picture of like a crucified monkey as that and made false statements about him and stuff like that you know identifying him you know with all sorts of just insults and things I just want to make sure we know what is getting covered you're right on and again it's such a such a sticky area um so if there if there ever is a situation we do recommend you work with your board attorney on it but when I see I just see student journalism that immediately makes me think we're just talking about students School resources school time schol things like that yeah and there are other policies that are more about like accessing social media and what um okay um let's see there's more questions on this one um so question
number two uh it's basically more of like uh you can mirror the statutes and add uh the greater descriptions to some of them um so question two oh you know what yep oh no okay I think we're good I think that's it for 7315 so the issue 108 draft update should be good again you can bring to the board a this stuff what was discussed here they can vote on them and let me know when that happens now we can look at the issue 109 draft updates um starting with 223 um so this had pretty many changes to it um based on like uh member feedback essentially about um having overall minimum for 30 minutes uh so we scratched that and we just said during each regular SP special open meeting of the board any
person may comment to or ask questions of the board um you do still have your three minute time uh for each speaker do that still hold District perfect so that's kind it just gives you more flexibility and whatnot and not having to have that minimum minutes the question for this policy uh is directly related to whether you want to have a maximum time limit um so there are I don't think it's common but there are Boards out there who say you know for a maximum of 60 Minutes during each regular meeting um any person make comment to or ask questions at the school board if you want toal that route it does say definitely like run it by your board attorney to get um his or her opinion on it but it is definitely an
option that's out there um but if you feel like you're good with public participation as of now then I would say um you know you're good to go but um I do feel like these updates will help you um just give you more flexibility in the future um you move to 470 then on page four um and this is uh so what you'll see here is a very simple update um this was just an update to a legal reference so there's not too much to discuss here unless anyone has any specific question about that legal reference but yep that's just a simple update 580 is next on page five um looks like we make references to your Collective barbing agreements first um and then you know for employees not covered they would follow the rest
of this what we did for this policy is basically break out witness Duty and jury duty into separate subsections um just to make it clearer and whatnot and it says that employees will be reimbursed when they you know are subpoena or have to go to jury duty um the questions that relate to these are whether you want to limit it to license employees or not um a lot of districts are striking that word LIC to to make it more inclusive to all employees y so that's something that's something you'll bring to the board and um talk talk to them about it but yeah there's an option for that and if you hit if you answer yes we will make sure to strike that word it's pretty straightforward there um 680 would be next and again
feel free to me if anyone has any questions um I think so 680 was just again updates to the Leal references so nothing really crazy there um again any questions let me know but then we move to 6290 did have an added yeah I I just have a comment so I know that um the past year we had um some religious groups that came in and we had a lot of um a lot of parents that spoke about um not being or not having been given prior notice to these groups coming in does where would something like that so like um like we had um we had a series of like religious organizations that came in and presented to students and parents were not given some parents said they were not given time to um
like know about it make adjustments for their student schedule to not attend or it was you know done where the students had to go forgot the name of the group but um where is that covered so firstly isn't that mixing church and state person church that um that you shouldn't be having anyone and I don't know about I mean in the context of teaching history or something there may be some coverage of different religions but I would think having someone come in and speak about religion might and there's no notice you're saying they trying what was the what was the name of the group um they came they did a presentation at all the schools yes what you I don't remember the I can't remember the name but it was it's it was a religious
group and we had a lot of issues with people who you know they got paid yeah uh so I don't know off the top of my head if you want to email me or someone wants to email me with that question I will absolutely ask our present okay that' be great and everyone feel free to use me as a resource go I'm happy I'm going to get swarm with emails now fre um okay so 6290 is next um and we just added this missed homework subsection which states students absent for a valid cause may make up missed homework in a reasonable time frame for policy [Music] 77 um so again pretty standard I just like to know how we how we enforce students should dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week good question I
mean how do you enforce a policy like that where sorry where are you looking I'm just saying homework is an important component of success the first bullet students of profal talent are expected to read study and their hom students should dedicate a minimum of 15 hours per week yeah it's a it's a great question um a lot of this is stated in statute and that's where we pull it from um but yeah we don't have any procedures or exhibits along with that so I think it's just a yeah it does say's no rep shows up Ines just Yeahs like expectations yeah and it it doesn't say must it says should um but yeah it is I it's a good question um but are we good with this missed homework subsection does that make sense for
everyone well I guess you could track your teachers and you could hold your teachers accountable because that means they need to be assigned you're talking about it there is some accountability there somewhere yeah so what is a valid cuse right yeah as long as it was excused ofes opposite of work night so they sleep during the day that phone call by 10: a.m. doesn't necessarily and that's definitely something that can be added so those are the ways to customize the policies question the um I think the language that we're used to using in our district is excused or authorized as opposed to valid because I think valid kind of leades it up in the air yes when our general language we use I mean we've telling students for years your absence needs to be excused
you need to get it authorized so I think we should my suggestion is take out that valid and make excuse and it says valid cause but if I keep my kid out of school because I want to take him to an amusement park I don't know if that's really Val but it would be excused you understand what I'm saying so I think the difference is excused absences I like that wording a lot and I'm actually going to bring it to our press [Music] editors that 290 page I know talking about I'm just saying it says in the highlighted green students absent for valid cause we use Excuse authorized where it says students should dedicate a minimum of 15 hour per week I would like it to read that students are responsible all assigned homework okay
I mean 15 some kids are going to get done with homework in in in a much shorter time frame than other kids but what I would like to see is some enforcement of them making sure that they're doing that period I would prefer that Lang than some 15 hours that students students are are are are responsible for completing all assigned homework or you that all assigned all assigned work period is not necessar homework foror because a lot of us do whatever stent serious were but but but how do you know how many hours of homework have been to that student by their teachers if some teachers aren't assigning any homework and other teachers are assigning homework how do you ever know that you have 15 hours because it would have to be a sign and
some kids then work quicker than other kids so it yeah but why are we even putting that because as a parent then I could come up here and argue about that my kid ain't had no 15 hours of homework since they came here right yeah yeah so that is absolutely valid and that is definitely something that can custom like when I talked at the beginning that you can customize these that's absolutely something we can do um so that valid um changeing valid to excuse or authorized would be made on ex used um we can make that on a press Plus so whenever you guys sign up for a press plus training session um write that down and remember we can bring it up back anything else on 6290 um if now we can move on
to 715 on page n y um so simple change under that survey of heading um again just changing around uh prohibition on and is prohibited on this next something on page 10 a lot of these are simple um it's just basically this one was more clean up than anything else or um and then 7 to 70 would be next which is administering medicines to students um these are legal reference changes down here at the very bottom of the policy page 14 and um 15 so and nothing crazy here those are my favorite ones with only legal refes uh 7285 would be next and if the anaphylaxis prevention response and Management program the original title was the food allergy Management program that was updated in uh pressue yes sorry this is uh I'm on page um
so um there are some notes in and and what not this was basically rearranged a bit um during press issue 109 uh some small changes down here under the monitering subsection just cleaning it up um and then we do have a question on here which is pretty straightforward has the board adopted the school district supply of undesignated epinephrine injectors so had in policy 727 I can confirm that you did because I um look at your policy um but but I did want to ask do you know if that is correct like do you have a school district supply of undesignated um epon injectors so and that's common so that's something you could uh usually check with your nursing staff or somewhere somewhere along along those okay so um you maybe want to talk with their
superintendent or just someone who they bring them in them in the nurse office Nur office apply they just bring them all medication has to come to office and when it's time for them to come down they have to the nurse office and they take it the diabet whatever all medication we just have to make sure they down number oh that's that's great um so my question is this is basically referring to undesignated medication so like if you have a stock supply of anything so there are a couple others that you may or may not know so we can't give students no medication okay so for so a student come in saying can I have off to the nurse office absolutely we can't give it to them unless they have a consent form on fou with
theur station from parent saying it's okay and we still can't give it to because they have to bring their own medication with that so no asthma got it okay so this um will then have changes to policy 7270 because right now does say you have the undes undesignated supply of epine injectors and opioid antagonists um so again I would write down 7270 and then when we do that PR a nurse would know based on a kid symptoms when to use the either of these is what you're saying yes um so even if the kid didn't have a prescription but a kid was in some sort of shock or shape or something yes the nurse should know I could use or I can use the opioid yes yep that's correct and the other one is um
uh epipens I believe for allergies and uh glucagon so um again we can clean that up so I would write down 7 to 70 we'll follow up about it okay um and then the answer to 7285 Sandra when you talk to the um that would be technically a no so right now your policy 72 uh 70 does have that EP for infection but we will remove it because we discussed that it's in order to remove it it will need to be presented to the board um what we will do during that press plus training session is Strike it I'll create the draft for you and have it ready to present before so we strike it that means that if a kid came in and needed an F pin then we wouldn't be responsible for getting
them we have to wait till the ambulance here correct correct like if you do not have an undesignated Supply that is [Music] correct we we would had it but your policy said you were supposed to have it what your policy say and my question is is do we want to strike that or do we want to either get it and keep it have it when we should have I think so too I don't think we should strike the policy I think we just need to make sure that we're complying with the policy and what I can do is I can send you a list of all of the undesignated medications that you could potentially have um we can go from there well it has Nurse it can't even be medical staff that has to be
aister but okay so question so if if it's no round fou that this student need or have use of it the nurse they can't give it to him regardless if nurse they everything has to have aent no that's what you're saying but that's not what your policy says because if a kid comes in whether you you have the supply so if a kid comes in a registered nurse is supposed to be able to identify what's going on and serve that child no but if you don't have no record up they they allergic to this or you're misunderstanding yeah your misunderstanding your policy says you have it on stock that's what your current policy says which means your nurse could administer it if if you this policy says a school nurse or trained Personnel can administer
the undesignated op to person they in good fa the person having op this is for op that's for the opioid but the same thing as when they have an allergic reaction but I'm just saying your current policy says that you stock them your current policy does not say some people don't know that their kid is going to need a EP pen you know not everybody's aware of that or that they got involved with some opioid so then it says each building administrator and his or her corres corresponding school nurse shall maintain the names of trained suppos to be the nurse and then they supposed to train that's not always the case if they have an opioid if they if they react to an opioid their parent doesn't know that they went to opioid but if
that's what you need to do to save their life and you can't wait you with one minister right yeah so this is great discussion um and again I will send you the list of four I think was four or five um and then we can move all right let's see I think sure yeah 7285 was the last policy in the issue 109 draft updates we're making really great progress the last thing um we need to do today is look at the um dra updates or the the review and monitoring [Music] policies there [Music] yeah I'm looking for Backes all right more since D ate mine that was not that was not me I you call her [Music] gay yeah we're good these are the simple ones yeah title name so no I want you to
keep going more and more and more [Music] and give it on the weekends [Music] too yeah so I'm ready when you guys we're going to be doing the review and monitoring policies which won't take long because there's no changes to them we just want to verify they're still working for your District um real fast again I just want to show you the review and monitoring policies are available on your press plus site you know this was is this represents the issue number so we're not doing 280 today because it just 112 um we're doing the 109 and one 108 and 109 today um so you open your packet there are a number of policies and we can just go through them yeah it's 12 pages so that's yeah 370 right no there's no there's no
chart here this one know he's ask they're asking is what is our um succession in the district if the superintendent the building hin the other administrative is temporarily unavailable do we know does the district identify who it goes down to in I know in 88 they do so I'm not sure about 209 but I know in 88 you know I know the line of you know the lession here that's what I'm asking is there a chart that's attached or no this is just the policy so that would be internal to the yes that's so so basically if you look at the screen um this is the procedure so 370 AP is the procedure that connects to 370 this is what would be kept internally within the district to list you know who is under the
superintendent and then the building principal so if you want to uh download this you you have direct access to it with your Press online access so have to make sure she done if we don't have it okay um again Press online is such a great resource for um yeah so 3 sub is pretty standard I'm sure that as [Music] is right and but I'm saying what s would be doing is directing them to go into PR blah blah blah and do that right yeah she's she um and then 570 is religious holidays um so as long as it's still work for your District um and again the reason we do these interview and monitoring is because when the adoption dates start to get old like this was last adopted in 2012 370 I think was
0582018 so usually do a 5 years if it's older than 5 years we'll ring release it to you um but it's 570 look okay all right 5110 the next one is very uh short it's probably the shortest policy we have it's the recogn recognition for service recognizing District employees who contribute to educa programs things like that and keep in mind not all of these policies are explicitly required either so if there's anything that you're like we don't really do that or we don't need that um you can let me know and run it by me because I have a list of what you know required what's not so [Music] um yeah 514 is solicitation by or from staff very standard straightforward any questions on that [Music] one somebody's yeah that's a good question I think
it's a certain I mean certainly we wouldn't be doing any political solicitation but I think that there shouldn't really be a problem with people Scout cookies and that kind of I mean I don't know [Music] would seriously so we have to get really with this or keep it and then say don't do it but we know that it's done so once once again the issue is is if you're already not supposed to be selling your stff for your grand out loud I'm saying I'm I'm so all I'm saying is right all that I'm I'm trying to say you can do it but I'm saying like s says how specific would we have to huh will you will so I will say policy 7325 um which is in the student sub student section and I don't
know if this is in your packet uh we not to have updates to it but that is student fundraising activities you look at the screen it's up there um so there's probably a lot more on this one specifically about it I know for sure there's also like Alternatives where you can say door to door solicit solicitations are prohibited or discouraged things like that so just further options have a 325 just to like you know all the teers buing Hope yeah you shouldn't be using District communication to S that's personal yeah um yeah so any questions on 5140 or 5240 is [Music] suspension um so again you make references to your cvas uh for both of them which is great because CVA is PR policy one more note I want to make on that real fast
is anytime your Collective barging Agreements are updated send them to us because we will do a review of them and update your policies and change so you get a lot of benefit from having we prepare draft updates um let's say you know something suspension with bargain but this new one it's not we will eliminate like where it says uh check the CVA so we will take care of updating it for you oh absolutely yeah um I'll give you after the um but are we good with the um suspension policy look pretty 670 is next uh that's the teaching about religion policy um I I'm pretty straightforward anything on this one and then 6140 um is next Hess children yeah so um while these are five year or they review and monitoring there you may see
minor changes times like that to Illinois illegal refence but if this looks good to you go I'm just thinking about the that there's some that don't know I my I think they call it doubled up I think they call it doubled up but track all that information in power school as part of the the enrollment as well for new [Music] students and I because I don't have res [Music] I'm tell they did [Music] but as far as like when we have like assem and they separate male and female it doesn't ring a bell any press has that doesn't mean there's no policy language out there um let me District like for example Public Schools you can't even look the bathrooms there's only one bathroom because if a child doesn't identify if they're if they're gender
neutral and they don't identify as either sax or they identify as an office opposite sex which assembly do they go to yes no it's a great great question y let me look into that and see if we have [Music] anything but our unisex bathrooms now are just designated as well I don't think that outside outside of the city of Chicago no other school districts have adoped that policy as of yet chicag that's a great point I mean I don't think outside of the city that any other districts have adopted that policy as of yet I don't know for sure yeah but in that in that in that District there's no voice and and they go to the bathroom together yeah I did hear about that um okay so then the last policy today is 6330
which is even in Awards um have anything on this discuss it if not we should be good to go and do you still uh do aoran salor this is given requirements so does East and West have different requirements than pmsa on how they select their solute do I way GPA it's all by the GPA by the way the GPA yeah it just gets harir with the uh calculation after this the last senior exam because that isn't calculated in yet because the term isn't over so it it's messy but it's done it's done the same by school awesome well if there aren't any other questions I think great job I have theol we say all our look Alik like know West like they have credit recovery they have Saturday school at we have kids over there
suffering who needs Credit Recovery who needs Saturday school we have no West we have nothing and they not started theirs already so I'm I'm confused because what makes this kid more privileged to get credit recovery than this I'm confused they have the positions available I know Miss Martinez is prioritizing safety she's aware that she needs to start interviewing for those and it's should have been start you know I'm saying I don't I don't disagree I know she's aw she mentioned in the last if you don't have the staff then why can't the kids go over there if they're from West I mean if you don't have the program they do have staff that have put it out because they have teachers Who does these like you know what I'm saying and does these Ed recover
so I has been posted for it I don't know posted Satur school coordinator just one of the yeah East is just getting there I know subjective to Grant okay the only reason why IO um thanks Nicholas for coming out and I hope everybody here learned something and certainly everyone that went YouTube and came so we're going to close it out and then we can just chat among ourselves thank you okay thank you so much thank you thank you if anyone need to contact me my email is right there a lot of ands in there okay my eyes I can read it too very [Music] confusing
