001School Board of Education thank you please call the r Mr Alexander abent mron hi Mr hi m patteron i m Grant I Mr Bill Car i m ition car regular thank you please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance iedge Ali to the United States Amica stand indivisible andice all thank you Miss barban please read the vision St statement through expectations of excellence and by providing Equitable Equitable educational opportunities to empower each student our graduates are prepared for college careers and to serve as contributing members of a dynamic Global Society at this time the Board of Education opens the floor for public comment the board will receive public comment from any individuals present this evening who have submitted a request to address the board for the established procedures comments will be limited to 3 minutes in

002accordance with board policy 2230 we believe that all participants in the meeting desire the best outcomes for our students families and communities as a reminder this meeting is being live streamed and will also be archived and available on the district website first for public we have Elena Robinson and Rebecca Gonzalez and there's another name Rocco but I can't read the writing um good evening everyone good evening um so we are students of Proviso East and Proviso Math and Science Academy and we are also in the and so far this for year we have been going around and we've been performing and we've been doing all of these things without the proper uniforms like as you can see we have matching shirts but not everybody has the same shirts we don't have enough of the same

003shirts because we're growing we're getting bigger and we're getting larger and larger numbers in masks and we don't have enough shirts to match so yeah that's one of the issues we're having um as well as that also um not only are our shirts unmatched but a lot of the equipment that we use is um it's not up to I guess standard um that we do need repairs and because we are growing we do need more instruments and like there are some students who don't have any instruments especially in their classes at school so even though like we're almost at the end of the first quarter they have been begin to set um um not not only that we don't have the proper stuff to maintain our instruments like um some of our horns our valves

004our slides are they're all stuff and in order to go out and perform we cannot have like like we keep messing up or like we mess up because our instruments are not like they're rusted or they're messed up and that's a big part of our band and we're trying to expand and but without like any instruments to give to the new people we cannot expand properly or so we're going to we end up giving up some of our instruments just to move to another instrument so they could have an opportunity to play thank you for considering our next we have Shenia Walker Elena Murphy and Elia I'm sorry if I my we students of East we St of East also part of PT East color dance we have been pering throughout the summer and everything

005but we are getting bigger and bigger new girls are coming we have not enough material not enough flags and not enough shoes and [Music] uniforms a lot you have um with that being said a lot of the girls we have about n or more than n members thank you you hello again good evening board good evening Dr K and Community um I'm coming back back to you uh this week uh so that I can try and complete some of my thoughts from when I was here last time um because I do feel very strongly um about just advocating not just for myself um but for a lot of my other co-workers um who also do not come from the black and brown Community but we love teaching here and we love our kids here and

006the work that we do we take pride in that and I started out last time I was visiting with all of you sharing how I was an exchange student and I was really fortunate and I don't take that for granted but I learned at a very early age what it means to go into another culture and realize that there is more than one way to live life and to broaden my horizons and to realize that my way isn't the only way and I love being in this community more than I ever ever thought was possible we are not the enemy just because we have lighter colored skin and I have never really been made to feel like I am racist until I have sat in a lot of these meetings for the last two years

007I've never had anybody call me that I've never been accused of that and I feel like every time I watch or dial in or stream that's what I feel like I'm being called because I'm not of black and brown culture and race I reach my kids um just to share with you briefly a couple of encounters you know I had students F and word around left and right in my classroom and I I tried everything possible and I didn't know what to do and I finally asked them to stay back one day and we had a conversation I said you know you're not that you are not the N word and I had those kids come back to to me two of the five Mr nobody's ever said that to me before thank you and

008I cried with them that here they are at 16 and nobody ever has said to them you're not met it's just become 90% of our black and brown co-workers that graduate out of HBC news are coming out in debt a lot of it $65,000 that average according to the National US Department of Education in order to get a bachelor's degree averages 6 $60,000 to get a master's $68,000 in education that's the debt and that's not just for the white teachers like me that is for every teacher so if we are going to sit here and continually say we need to diversify our staff we want that but I don't want to hear that I can't reach my kids because I'm white okay you're welcome thank you we have to give our people something to come

009here for we have to pay them we have to pay them thank and Jenette good evening um we are two students from Prov we also in the March man um first I want to talk about um you see these jackets that we have on um we really need these jackets because you know it's cold outside and we have a lot of new people as you heard and not everybody has these jackets or the other jackets that we have so we kind of need these jackets and also with our percussion section we're also giv a lot of new people in there and not having enough drum heads or drums to give to everybody so some people haven't even got an instrument yet to even play on um a lot of the um instruments and a lot

010of things that we need to continue doing these performances we we don't have those we don't have the materials that we need to succeed and be a better band you're want to be able to do a lot more performan be able to do a lot more things but we not having the necessary materials necessary uniforms and that's all the things that we need to keep going thank you good evening Community I would like to first take this opportunity it's unfortunate I have to come in this manner this way had an old business new business so I'll do it this way um what I would like to see Dr caralis is that um our students start being honored and recognized for any and all of their accomplishment there was a time that students would stand before

011this board of education and do would congratulate them that has not um happened for some time um my other concern is about um uh I Reed five different calls from five different community members in reference to a student at revisal West being locked in a closet for approximately 30 plus minutes uh I as a board member was not made aware and was quite embarrassed uh when I got these calls and uh they were back to back that's happened at provisor West it is imperative that all board members not one not two but all of us know what's going on I knew nothing about this um I'm concerned as revisor West with what's going on with revisor West I received a call on uh last Friday in reference to a non registered student that was in

012provisor West uh that is alleged that a bomb threat was made I'm a sitting board member and I knew nothing about that I don't know if uh many of the other board members are aware uh but I don't like those type of phone calls because I didn't know um Dr Carval I'm going to ask that you please provide this board of education all seven members the state test results you can't provide it to the public but you can provide it to the Board of Education um my last concern is uh it is imperative that all board members are made aware we are all elected officials and when you invite mayors of our 10 different towns uh to provise though and not invite all board members you call it a dignitary meeting with just the president

013and yourself uh it is imperative when Mayors come to me and say why w't you that meting I knew nothing about it and so I'm going to ask that we all be made aware when these types of activities are taking place uh let the board member decide if he or she um are able to uh attend these events thank you very much and it with good [Music] evening mar mar I'm so [Music] sorry hello my name is B I came from from East High School and I'm talking about March B and there's a couple things I want to talk about is one is our budget I've been in March B since I was a freshman when pre preil started to start when it started and when I realized by being a marchan we do a

014lot of things to accomplish to accomplish ourselves to get money in our B program where we had to work ourselves out push ourselves to the limits to even get money and the money we use we use it to for our instruments we usually supposed to have money to save over for activities we can have like over the year for seniors to go out on their last trip but we don't have money for that it break my heart cuz we have a lot of seniors that join we have Juniors that become seniors but we have nothing for them to support I left Horizon East as a a a m but I still have nothing to support myself as being a pro East if my if my school want to support me and I want to support

015them I can't of support them afterwards when I don't have nothing to to put myself as Pride as the E I love this school I get that but just I love band too I want to support my band I want support my school and we need budgets we need our instruments to be fixed we need our drum heads be fixed I in the Dr line and I realize a lot people want to do Bas they want to do Quint but our jum heads are broken everything's broken we can't get it fixed we asked to get it fixed it never get rep repaired it been years for me I've been here since I was a freshman pre- jails in summer when I did this and still have not been fixed at this point I feel like

016our providers dict don't even care for us they see our response they just ignore it and I just like why would why we just give our emotions to y'all why would we just tell you how we feel just y'all just look the other way turn your heads and just say no it just like I want if I want to support you or notel and Martin good evening [Music] everyone I am a heav here of proval East March B and I would also like to talk about the many things that we do not have and also us feeling very unappreciative um or appreciates it sorry um first it would be the instruments many of our instruments are rusted uh the valves and the slides they don't work very well they need a lot of repairing all

017of them need repairing and then our uniforms because when we're out in the cold it gets very cold out here and we don't have the certain needs or correct things that we need in order to be covered up and we're playing the instrument at the same time as being in the cult and we've you know we've had a few incidents with that um hello good evening I'm um also from provisa East I'm a student director and I wanted to go on the topic about how we have new band members coming in not every day but every now and then and I help with inventory we you do not have enough shirts or shorts or uniforms that can fit them in order to have them be a part of the band um we need materials such

018as the shirts like grease oil with um instruments with the valves the slide oil the grease we have instruments needing to be repaired broken that some of our band members have to be using while broken and I just wanted to make my opinion on that because we do not have the materials we need in order to become [Music] thank Lopez Emory Lopez [Music] good evening I'm Ashley I'm Ashley H I'm em this is my first year at provid e high school and B I'm the band manager and since I've been in band I've noticed that we've lacked a lot of stuff such as unicorns instruments bikes B shirs and shorts if we do have unic and shirs they are too big or not big enough our flags are here torn worn out and ever ever

019since we got new recruits the new recruits haven't been able to choose their instruments to their liking not because we don't want them to play a specific instrument simply because it's either old or broken or we don't have it anymore B is also year long not just school days but on kids weekend our free days we show dedication working during summer and our winter spring breaks B keeps kids involved in something positive away from the streets and out of trouble it's also a requirement that kids in band have like see or above we as a band are not just students with the same liking but a family when we get new people to join we make sure to get treated with respect and kindness you're welcome a new member to our family thank you thank

020you [Music] hello um I wanted to speak briefly as a former proval East pirate and a former marching vanand member in a current big sister to two of the current Pirates and marching band members I see similarities and differences in the mighty marching Pirates of yesterday year and today the similarities they are still awardwinning group of talented young people with a passion for music and dance that deserves to be nurtured in all the ways possible I also recognize some of the instruments that these students use because they are the same instruments that we use that have the same dicks in them from 2008 the differences I see are the the students that have won several competitions but they don't have the materials to show for their hard work they have to wait for new uniforms

021instrument repairs and Replacements and other simple maintenance items needed for instrument upkeep the deal was always simple do well and be rewarded with the tools needed to maintain and Excel as musicians and dancers I ask that on behalf of the parents of today and the alumni of yester year that this promise is kept to our kids thank you at this time we'll have the report and communication from our superintendent schools [Applause] good evening everyone before I begin students I want you to know I'm going to get together with Mr fs and the money lady over there Dr Hill and we are going to figure this out with the band instruments tomorrow we're going to get together as for the clothing after the holidays when does a new budget come in Dr you tell me Well

027want to use this okay our first presentation is Dr Williams on multi-disciplinary approach to Improvement school scholar attendance and this was triggered from um Dr Hixon um Miss hion sorry that's okay that's even good so um when we when you had your uh policy committee and everyone there was talking about attendance that triggered it off and we did not have an actual procedure for our district for our students that that were cutting classes we did of course have the policy from the state and for proy but an actual policy for uh students that were actually unexcused absences and how we connected it to our mtss program in our classes to our teers we wanted something more specific and I ask Dr Williams to work with Dr Thomas and to put something together that is more

028specific that we can use that the teachers can use in the classroom so Dr Thomas and uh Dr Williams is or Dr Williams is going to present for us today thank you good evening Bo President Grant vice president oampo secretary baram board members Dr Carval I'm Sharon Le the deputy superintendent of schools with a quick presentation regarding uh attendance and I purposely titled this presentation a multi-disciplinary approach to improve Stellar attendance we all know that it's not going to just take one person or one staff member that can help us improve our attendance rate it's going to take our families our students the community um board members all of our administrators every single staff person um because as you'll see our attendance rates are low in some areas and there are uh ways that we

029can improve our attendance rates um I also wanted to mention Dr Carval wanted me to mention to you this evening that we are working on a comprehensive uh postsecondary plan and that plan will be brought to you soon for your information so I first want to start with the is design ation and the definitions of chronic absenteeism and chronic Tru treny so of the um all the factors that make up our ISB summited designation chronic absenteeism makes up 10% of that total uh count on our report card and there are two MA major categories that we monitor as a school district the first is uh students who are chronically absent these are students who have been absent for uh 10% or more of the total number of school days uh so that example there just

030says that if we've had 100 school days then those students have been absent 10 or more times Chron chronically turent students are defined as those who have been absent 5 to 10% of the total number of school days um so you'll see the example there we're focusing on the most egregious treny and absenteeism as a as you'll notice we go up the tier so what are some of the factors that impact attendance we all know that um many scholars have been tardy to class or to school uh we do have uh some Scholars who choose not to attend all of their classes during the day uh that's a nice way to say that they're skipping their classes we also have quite a number of unexcused absences and that's anytime a student is out of school

031without a proper uh documentation for being out of school um we also have the problem of low interest in school or class what Mr Hull mentioned about getting students involved in activities and Sports in schools is one proven research-based way to keep students interested in coming to school furthermore uh classroom teachers have the biggest impact on student achievement therefore we know that when students are in class they must be interested in engaged in order to go all to all of their classes uh this next uh bullet is something I coined and I probably should trademark it trademark it postco attendance syndrome we know that since the global pandemic many students have failed to return to school on a full-time basis there are many students that we've lost track of um if you can imagine uh

032you hear of companies having trouble bringing their employees back they don't want to go to work they want to work from home and so we do have an interest problem with school and we've got to find ways to re-engage students in school to make sure that they're here every day um another practice that is um that impacts our attendance is out of school suspensions so any exclusionary practice um that we employ as the school district for student Behavior also impacts our bottom line um in our attendance and then finally gaps in recordkeeping last year we worked very hard with Mr ashoff our registrars School leaders to clean up our data we had a weekly data Integrity meeting where each week we looked at all of our data sources we dug deep into our student information

033system we dug deep into our processes and procedures to see where there were gaps and taking attendance so taking attendance in the classroom but then also as we have guest teachers making sure that guest teachers are taking attendance so instead of handing a piece of paper to the attendance clerk U Mr Ash off and the registers and the attendance clerks worked on a procedure whereby guest teachers take attendance directly into power school so that we could take away that paper component and make sure that our attendance is being entered correctly and on time additionally Mr ashof and the team set up a system whereby each of the attendance clerks was were informing teachers if they had not taken attendance for uh their period so that we could catch up and make sure that each teacher

034was taking uh timely attendance for each of their classes so what constitutes a full day of school if you'll notice from the chart we have an 8 period day uh so if students are in attendance for six or seven class periods that's considered a full day of school this is important because of the issue with students not attending some of their classes also being late for school or being dismissed early from school so we need students in class every day all all days of the week and also on time to each of their classes so this is a chart that represents the impact that student Scholars attendance has on grades this is taken from the snapshot of the last attendance period um for school year for last school year and uh this chart shows us

035the correlation between the percentage of attendance and the number of failing grades that a student might have uh this information is updated weekly along with the next two slides of attendance data in our data tool that Mr spel um brought to our district last year that details and pulls directly from our student information system to uh visually display all of our data so that principles have at their fingertips each week a live look at where their their school stand so here are a couple of slides regarding the current state of attendance so far in this school year you'll notice these grass represent the um attendance by period for each of our schools what you'll notice is that there is almost a bell curve in terms of attendance for um our Scholars starting in um period

036one going through period 8 the periods in yellow are our lunch periods um so this this is just a visual representation again of our attendance to date um and again principles and school leaders get this information refresh each week so this is a very Stark representation of the impact that all of our community has on getting to school on time so that includes any issues with our transportation system any issues with families making sure that students are at school on time and any other barriers that students may have in getting to school on time uh so tardies are a big contributor to our uh lower incidence rates and you'll see in the next couple of slides some of the strategies that principles I've already taken um in order to help with this um attendance issue

037so at the last board meeting our school leaders did present to you some of their strategies around um improving their uh School inter including attendance and I took this directly from their slides these are some things that they're already doing in schools they're not not paying attention to how Scholars are attending in school and we wanted to acknowledge that something is going on we just wanted to make sure that we have a strong plan in place uh going forward so that we can make sure that we're not uh dropping the ball for any of our Scholars so overall I want to just briefly explain the NTS s multi-tiered systems of support framework and the framework for ntss is applicable to behavior and to academics for purposes of this presentation we're talking specifically about attendance um

038we expect that most students will fall into tier one and will respond to schoolwide um positive behavior interventions and supports that they will um respond to conferencing with their teachers that they'll respond to schoolwide seal practices that can help them feel more connected to school we know that there will be a smaller percentage of students who will need some extra um attention regarding their attendance so those for those students um some of the uh strategies that we can use are conferencing with them more often we can um employ contracts with them so that they will know what we expect of them and um help them get back on track we also have a partnership with West 40 to help with truancy and Trent students the final tier is for the least number of students and

039that um Can involve conferencing again Contracting with students referral to the West for treny system um a reset room and then all um Last Resort evening school where they're being involved in uh served in the evening school so I wanted to break those down just a little bit as I mentioned most students are going to respond to tier one so schools have in place plans to make sure that they're honoring students who are showing up to school on time showing um going to all of their classes and have good attendance rates um and those kinds of strategies will be monitored by the school leaders by teachers Etc on a weekly or monthly basis you'll see also that our teams are developing schoolwide attendance plans in other words they're looking at their data they're assigning people

040to work with certain students um who are beginning to exhibit some attendance problems we're also going to think about um how we can package student information for their consumption and their use and their Improvement efforts for themselves so Mr spel say Ved a draft um bag report a behavior attendance and grades report that um helps students see at a glance what their um behavior is looking like what their attendance is looking like and what their grades are looking like and what we expect from that is that teachers will be able to have a one sheet and families and students will have a one sheet um look at where they are in the semester and then finally employing schoolwide social emotional learning practices so one of the ways that we can help students reconnect to their

041uh schools and to their classrooms is to ensure that we are um welcoming our students that we have engaging practices in our classrooms and that we close out our classes with um something positive as well and uh one of the strategies we're going to employ very soon is a districtwide seal survey for both Scholars and for the adults who serve Scholars so that we we can understand a baseline of where we are with seal supports in schools so as I mentioned going up the tiers to tier two um we want to focus on Scholars who are chronically absent or Trent or in danger of being chronically absent or truin so those students who are beginning to show signs that they are not attending all of their classes every day or that they're um being tardy

042more than um normal or that they're skipping some of their classes so we want to think about um leveling up the intensity of the interventions so that may be more frequent conferences more um stringent contracts with students um and then also checking in with them more frequently we also want to for students who are who are going toward being chronically absent we want to make sure to connect with the treny support with West 40 so that they can work with uh the social workers school counselors School leaders and families and then finally tier three is for the smallest percentage of students this wouldn't affect very many students at all um but again we're moving up with the intensity of the um interventions for these students also checking in with them more often making sure that

043we're wrapping around services that may be needed to help them get to school um and stay in school all day finally the most restrictive or the most intensive intervention would be um something for students to reset room for instance students who are having difficulty getting to all of their classes every day or skipping classes being tarded to class um using the reset room as a way to retach proper behavior in school and then get them back on track without excluding them from school and then finally those students who are um chronically absent and for whom all other interventions have not been successful yet um possibly a referral to our evening school program we have been very successful under Dr Thomas's leadership to get students back on track and attending an evening school so that they

044can continue their education and graduate on time and the next steps for this plan is to make sure that we're meeting with all School leaders to to establish um practices that aren't in place yet um in place at their schools and then make sure that we're um offering the support to them to be able to work with families and school Personnel to get students back on [Music] track you had mentioned um the your term postco Sy we're seeing that National though right is that that's a problem AB School level that's a problem at every level of every school every level of school yes including young children okay yes okay thank you thank you right thank you and someone's left their phone here Dr Carval Mr Hall yeah it's thank you Dr Williams great job thank

045you and also Dr Williams um is spearheading the uh black history College trip that um Del spoke about last month I think the hcu yes and she will be working with interp she will have more details for us next month is that correct after William thank you can I address this before I came situation that particular historically black college tour I'm talking about has nothing to do with introspect introspect does it own thing that's a part of Garfield Community out of Chicago that come and do some work over at Proviso East I've actually already put everything together prior to Dr Henderson leaving I asked going to go on the agenda and it didn't uh I'm going to ask again and uh I would want to do this as best I can without having student show

046up here everything is worked out don't tell all that this just need to be paid for I don't know anything about interest can you give me the details I can't okay cuz I didn't know about your trip I thought you were talking about introspect no okay once you give me all this information then we can move on next okay let me go on to provisor Township High School has a partnership with Tron college and we have many programs with Triton College this one is a very unique program and many high schools are a part of it and I would love to jump on it Junior status goes to college this is a very very special program where students once they hit Junior status they actually take classes in their Junior and Senior year on campus

047at the college not at the high school and when they finish their senior year they will actually get their high school diploma and they will also receive their associates degree from Triton College so they're getting the Dual degrees and they can transfer into any University of their choice with associates degree associates degree in the Arts or in the Sciences whatever Avenue they choose so during their Junior and Senior year the students will participate in actual college courses so how are we going to do this there are these requirements that of course we will have for our students they must be in good standing at pths 209 they will have to be on track to graduate of course with the 2.5 GPA they must have a 90% attendance rate they must complete two years of high

048school math so in our case because we have im1 and im2 here that's what they would complete they have to have two recommendations from two teachers and a recommendation from a counselor they're going to to take the Triton acup plure placement test that's a test that they take at Triton it's a placement test then they have to take the math Advanced algebra and score a 240 or higher at the Triton College and uh writing and reading a combined math score of 550 or higher it will be no cost to the students for tuition fees and books if they pass their grades with a passing grade C or better an adviser will be checking in with the students every two weeks and that advisor will be at Triton College and they have a TR and early

049warning system that will take care of them and here at provisa we will have a director of the program and our director will be checking in on our students as well inperson and virtual toting and tutoring and student support groups they will have also that at Triton for them Triton Transfer Center support for transferring to a 4-year Institute exists for these kids there's going to be a first year success course they have a boot camp class and that's for it's worth three credits they will have that it's called CG um CSG 296 it's a three credit course they will have it from July 1st to July 26th it's a four-week course four days a week and it's kind of teaches them certain skills that they need in college it's located at Triton it's usually from

05010:00 a.m. to 12:50 Monday through Thursday it's mandatory for the new student orientation it's usually around July 11th preparation for a successful transition into college by focusing on skills time management goal setting note taking test taking strategies effective use of electronic and social media platforms they will also gain and understand one's self personality value skills they learn about responsibility to the oneself and to others while learning about the importance of diversity equity and inclusion the process of career exploration and University transfer will also be covered so basically they're really really preparing them and taking care of them so they are prepared for this first step benefits and consideration if these kids go in this program it significantly reduces the cost of higher education parents don't have to pay pay for the first two years of

051tuition to go to college or university it begins the transition to college early expands academic options for College Bound high school students be on Triton's calendar for spring break and winter break so they're following the calendar of Triton do and we will do our best to make sure that the kids are between 8 and 3 their schedule but of course it's a college campus so they're not going to have the same classes every day it's just just like the college campus where they meet um math will meet Tuesday and Thursday and Friday English will be Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 to 4: just like regular college students and families need to commit to the semester once they decide you must Pride your own transportation to Triton courses outside of the degree program are at your

052own cost what does that mean if the kids decide to take a course because they like it they have to pay for that course students can participate in sports and after school activities and clubs so if you have a student that is great in football he can play college football if he loves basketball and he makes it on the basketball team he can play college basketball provid director of early admissions will be added support for our students in the program so we are going to have a director of early admissions here it's going to come out of our CTE program so this is an example of the High School requirements so with with Triton College counselor advisor does it matches up our courses with the college courses so English our English for credits our math

053our science our social studies it includes CICS black history 365 Constitution test it's going to match up with their courses example rhetoric 101 freshman rhetoric composition is three credits general education Humanities general education math general education social and Behavioral Science Program elective or foreign language elective these are what they would take for example in their junior year in the spring of their junior year this is what they would be taking rhetoric 102 freshman rhetoric and composition General Ed Fine Arts general led Life Sciences General Leed social and Behavioral Sciences program electives or foreign language so this is basically if they're following the associates degree in in the Arts this is what it would look like in their senior year principles of effective speaking Humanities of Fine Arts physical sciences Behavioral Sciences electives and so forth

054so what is the accuplacer I told you that's the test that they would take and they give you examples of the test and how to study for it on campus placing testing in instructions it shows you how to take the course what exactly where the testing center is it goes step by step to take it remotely or you can take it in person receiving email from at Placer you get the test voucher you can get an appointment to go in person any questions yes so if students in role in this um dual program their Junior and senior they're they're at Triton then for their entire Junior and Senior year they're not here with us correct but they're still our students okay so they're still meeting in with checking in with the director they're still accountable

055here to our district and to Triton as well correct and then at the end of the two years they have an associate an associate from them right so they have essentially doubled up and earned two degrees that okay and then they transfer to UIC or champagne or dep all as a transfer student not as a freshman but as a transfer student which means their chances are so much better because they're transferring they're not going in as an as a freshman with an N they're not competing with the others right correct it's it's an absolutely win-win situation for these kids so they're going in as Juniors at 18 and 19 years old so the tuition though for triton would be covered by us by us right because they're still our kids right and our requirement is

056that you get a c average right we want them to have a 2.5 average so if they if they do not fulfill those requirements when they're at TR they would simply come back to classes here yes yes we don't want them to fail but that's why they have the support there that's why we're going to have a director here that's going to be following them and we we're already a tri I mean right we already Dr Bron's already over there he's already watching the kids that are on the in the Dual credit he's already over there watching them when they're over there so for us it's it's nothing more but we do need a director for that program so it would be a new position then it would be a new position to oversee the

057program an in position a new position yes it would be yes yeah well actually no I'm going to transer the quarter my plan is to just change the coordinator position to a director position and put him at the bottom of the um at the at the top of the quarter 1 scale changing the duties and titled to Encompass this new responsibility cor right so we're just transferring it to a director position yeah and then do we um how much will this cost us in tuition dollars at TR do we know or do we is there a fee for us to send the kidss to Triton no no there's not okay so this is at no cost to the district no additional cost no we're going to pay if the kids go to the classes we're

058going to probably pay for the classes we're going to start with 10 kids okay so it's not going to be a lot okay I fig six to 10 kids to start with okay I don't think we we should start any more than that KSAL Dr Brandon kids or uh the the target number up front would be approximately three students per campus okay um and there is a cost that varies uh based on the student uh between $4 and $6,000 uh each year so uh you all earlier this year approved uh a blanket PO for our current fall spring summer one and summer two of uh $79,000 um projecting into next year you would be probably more around um I I've calculated about1 170 but I would Round Up to $200,000 just to make sure that

059we're servicing all of our programs uh there are uh four new programs that we'll discuss uh tomorrow evening at our financial committee um which is I think at 5:00 so this is like simar to a coterminal degree at College where you get your Bachelor I mean you get to take your bachelor in junior year you can take a c terminal classes to get a master's you you don't get your Bachelor you get your associates degree no no no I'm saying similar to the co-terminal degrees that universities offer third Junior and Senior year for your Master's and bachor degree cor correct so my question um since they are going to try in and technically they qualify for FS are they are they going to fill out the fill out the documentation for f so we cover

060their cost if they qualify so they are technically attending so that's one of the questions that we've had um Dr Campos is somebody that we have to meet with in person um I'm Mee yes schedu and we'll get that's the U that's the incen because if you go to school for coterminal in the University you takeing master degree courses in a bachor technically qualified for fast grants because you Technic have a degree consider so the president of uh Tron is coming here um I let you know when she comes she is looking forward to um seeing our manufacturing lab and um I would like it if you all can come and meet her she's wonderful and she's very excited with our partnership and she's a wonderful lady I I gravitated toward her right away I

061I couldn't believe the partnership and all the programs that we have with them they're wonderful life it's just great we're very lucky to have we really are believe what's happening lastly I'll get the names of the two scholarships that President Moore does offer uh one is called the president scholarship if I'm not mistaken it's a 3.5 HED um those students are allowed to come uh to tracking for free um and then they have one that's also at 3.75 that students can qualify for as well so I'll get the names for you for those two scholarships can we also work out something that if we do have students who receive those scholarships that we can then allow more people into the program do you see what I'm saying like that frees up our funding so we

062could actually send more if kids were we can send as many as we want I'm just afraid to put too many in until we get our Fe no right right but I'm just thinking like we if we say okay we're going to send so many kids but some of them got this scholarship that yes we don't want money to stay on the table we want to be able to put it towards other students who might want to take advantage of this yeah Brookfield Brook oh what's it called Brook High schooli they're already in it Lions is already in it Ridgewood Ridgewood is already in it I couldn't believe it when I went to the meeting that um Dr Brandon took me to and they were all in it and I I just stared like a

063deer in headlights and I thought what are they talking about and this is has been around for the last five years okay okay I I couldn't believe that we did not know about this okay well I don't never car can you share your PowerPoint just because of the U requirements of the first few slides that you showed just in case I get parents that ask the requirements yeah you know where do you want you no can with you can we just can we go back and can we attach the um superintendent report to the actual like agenda item so then people can just open it we link it and my PDFs okay they got test through ADV alest correct and that's why uh they they uh discuss a 4 to 6,000 so somebody shorter class

064or needs to be remediated before they take that class that's where an extra cost come in so you all excited about it as I am yeah this is this is amazing yes [Music] what okay um is this an action item isn't it so I I don't think this is just an action item an information item so what we did uh we simply changed the credits when a student is a to in order to be a junior it used to be 12 credits now a junior is going to be a junior with 13 credits so this way the Junior's going to be more prepared to take the SAT and when a senior a student becomes a senior he's going to become a senior with 18 credits and that's what we've changed because we want our students

065to be more prepared and now the facilities meeting and Gil B and Perkinson will mray hold on yes the promotion is that I misunderstood I thought it was the other way around where okay so simply what we've done um when you're when you're looking at the credits and a student goes on to the next level because now it's an 8 period day it used to be a seventh period day how many so now with an eth period day in order to be a junior instead of having 12 credits you need to have 13 credits so we've added one credit and in order to be a senior you need to have 18 credits just and the flip side of this the positive side of this is that when these kids are Juniors and they're ready for

066the SAT you need to have 13 credits so they're going to be more prepared for the sat right and this is um an action item tonight it's number seven no I think it's just an information item no it's an action item oh it is an action item this is an action item the approval of grade level promotion change beginning with the s25 academic program okay any other questions on that okay good evening president vice president secretary board members colleagues Community uh tonight we have a few um fast presentations for you we have one action item for your consideration to bring in cameras that provides east west at the Science Academy we have the design team here to go over design and the next steps for the souls please dive in and ask as many questions

067to the souls as possible I've been getting hammered on this and we are pushing uh and Bill ban is doing a good job of Perkins will to try to get the next steps together and dates together with nwp on both of the presentations you will see information from purpose and will related to the design and the potential to be determined dates and per and will will show an outline of what the souls are I'm sorry Gil ban will show an outline of what the souls are on campus today and where the fence line where it might be uh related to the design at this time I'd like to bring up Perkin and will to uh get the design start evening Bo even okay we going I have a very uh short presentation uh today um

068but please uh you know let me know if you have any questions um so I'm just going to cover a few things uh kind of just our typical uh punch list update close out update uh on previous Summer's work uh then we're going to cover uh some of the miscellaneous projects that LT alluded to uh and then just a uh brief uh note on uh possible work schedule adjustments for the uh uh upcoming uh scope of work so again just a brief summary here uh perks will continue to work with Gil Bane and the district to identify punch list items and ensure that uh work is completed uh uh that was uh included in the documents uh again just to reiterate that even though the standard contractor's warranty is uh one year that doesn't alleviate

069the contract uh contractor of completing any work that is discovered after that onee time to have not been completed uh the example I always use is that you know if there's a wall that contractor was supposed to install some blocking in uh for something to be hung on the wall and if 2 years later uh someone goes to hang something on that wall discover the blocking isn't there the district is still uh able to go to that contractor and have them provide that work it's not a get get out of jail free card if no one catches it so uh we continue to work with the district obviously you guys live in these buildings you know them uh far more intimately than we do and so we're always getting feedback from LT and his team

070and anytime uh items are brought to our attention uh they they are added to the punch list and uh and we work with Gil ban to address them uh additionally anytime a contractor goes to submit their final payment application and close out uh their contract uh perks of will the design team performs a final completion inspection where we walk through uh the entire schle work for that contract and ensure that it was done in accordance with the documents and so we'll continue to update uh update this table actually since this uh uh table was included in the uh in the presentation we do have the punch list for the previous Summer's worth of work um and so we are working with gilban as a contractors notify us that a punch item is completed uh we

071schedule uh routine field visits to confirm uh that those items were completed uh just a couple of items uh that maybe as not uh maybe of note as you walk around uh foro East uh there are some additional scope items because of the nature of this project where the work is spanning over two summers there may be some areas where you walk through and think to yourself oh this this doesn't look finished or you know is this going to be addressed there are a number of those items uh we've worked with uh LT and his team as well as gilban to sequence the work in as logical fashion as possible so that way it still is a a safe facility to operate even as some of these projects are uh in the middle of uh

072of being uh uh being completed so a couple items uh it's some of the what I call Corridor Crossing areas uh where you have two uh corridors meet each other there will be some additional acoustical treatments in these hight traffic areas uh there are a few areas where we've noticed there's echoing in this uh in the corridors and so uh there will be additional acoustical treatments uh to address that uh additionally in the uh student cafeteria which is over gone a facelift and we're really excited with how it turned out kind of a nice new modern feel uh to the student dining space uh there are some low voltage cabling that uh is a variety of colors that we're exploring uh wire Management Solutions that will conceal these wires so that way just gives a

073little bit more consistent uh of an aesthetic for the exposed uh structure in that uh in that space so any questions on uh punch list project completion items what was that statute for those find out I believe the statute of repose is s years with an additional three is that right yeah we can get that information for you yeah the number the actual statute yeah I I think we presented previous one so I know we have that information yeah yeah we can look that up any other questions one in page two is there a sound system being installed in the C uh that that is not on scope right now no Al McDonald and myself Mr H we are working with um a contractor to develop a strategy for that we'll be sharing sharing it

074with you no later than November 15th any other questions okay going on to the miscellaneous projects um so the provisor was soil update uh so we're currently working with a civil engineer uh on this project and uh they've been exploring uh solutions to redistribute uh the soil around the provisa West site um you kind of describ this a little bit as a of a uh uh you know kind of not too hot not too cold just right uh uh problem so what we're trying to do is make sure that we distribute uh the soil extensively enough that we can use up the entire soil pile however we can't touch so much land that it triggers mwrd storm water management ordinance requirements re requiring storm water uh uh management measures be taken on site and that

075threshold is .5 acres and so we've developed a number of scenarios uh that's been provided to uh LT and gilban for cost estimating uh and we anticipate over the next couple of weeks scheduling some meetings with LT to review uh operational impacts of uh of the redistribution of this soil uh there's a couple of things that come to mind first off we want to make sure we're not creating any BMS with uh slop so steep that it's difficult for uh LT and the uh uh staff to maintain or mow uh the turf on those Mounds uh as well as this area of the site is used by the cross country team for their course so we want to make sure that you know if there are any impacts to their running course um that uh

076you know the district is made well aware of that and as the opportunity to comment um so even though we are striving to uh make sure we do not trigger mwd storm water management requirements it still will require mwrd permitting and so uh we anticipate uh near the end of this year uh to have those documents completed at into mwrd uh for their review uh at that point then we will submit documents to Gil Bane uh that will go ahead and uh bid the work and uh uh and and complete the scul work any questions on the priz west soils I have a question could you elaborate on what you mean I'm redistributing the soil so it's a mound currently right and the way I understand it is you're describing as kind of dispersing it

077in an area right we're finding areas where we can build up the existing topography um you know that maybe are advantageous along fencil um where it's you know kind of low use areas where we can create you know landscape elements uh that would allow us to you know instead of having one big dirt pile at the southern end allow us to uh redistribute it create these BMS and then cover them with Turf so that way it looks like a typical landscape element that you find in any number of facilities this was contaminated though it uh so this soil when it was brought to the landfill they have what is especially referred to as a sniffer system where they will kind of wave a wand over a uh a truck and if it triggers uh any

078number of chemicals uh being in excess of their threshold they don't just reject that one truckload they reject everything from the site so at that point Bill Bane um when this soil was rejected at the landfill uh they solicited a report from ECS uh that confirmed the elated levels of these contaminants based on our discussions with uh the ECS chemist uh it was their opinion that these were all naturally occurring uh levels of the contaminant it just exceeded the threshold uh uh that the landfill allows in their uh clean landfill so you they said there wasn't anything that uh indicated to them that this was a point source where for example you have an underground tank that's leeching chemicals or something like that to the soil um it was a just naturally occurring level of

079this particular uh chemical do we know why it's it's just you know there are chemicals in the soil and sometimes they become concentrated in certain areas uh it just has to do with the natural history of the site you we live in the Chicago area where there are you know a variety of chemicals that do you know get released into the soil I don't think they will determine uh you know why it was there only that the levels were so low that it's well below the threshold where they would start to consider a point source of that chemical so it's safe for us uh for that I would have to yield to you know the chem that's beyond our expertise U like I said ECS prepared a report on that um with recommendations that um

080the district does have um so that can be provided but yeah you know we're not able to provide that level of expertise on that can rely on the C for that can you speak to that at Al yeah so in the report that I shared uh about a month ago ECS did mention that they were safe and there was no danger to students or the public over provid the W school it's in that what was it specific just took a stab at it because Proviso West used to be a golf course so used to be a golf course back in 1955 and it was the land was acquired and made of high school so we just took a stab at it that because it was a parking lot leaky vehicles and that's just a taking

081a stab at but we don't know what the source is from and all this soil actually came from that parking lot area so none of it came from other portions of Risa West so it's just a guess I it's really hard to say where it's from um it could have been a Spiel in 1965 we don't we don't know yes ma'am um I was thinking when we're spreading this around to kind of lower the mound inad instead of grass or anything else that has to be maintained there are a bunch of natural plants that can be planted there that will help detoxify the soil that are you know shown to help mitigate these things so I think we can come up with a more natural solution that doesn't have to be maintained but we don't

082have to have our workers dedicating extra time um to beatifying a you know a place that we really don't want to be necessarily using um but that can still be cost effective and and really a natural way to help mitigate this problem point so there's better stuff we can do to fix the you know to fix this honestly um and we wanted to take this approach too because we decide to take these soils off site again and they get deed again I mean it's just more money that we're thrown away so if we wanted to keep them in house considering that we're not deadly or harmful in breathing uh per ECS and um just keep them on sight be safe this time inad of just trying to haul them off again because ECS did mention

083that we keep them on site and allow the air to get into the soils and dry them out we probably could take it offsite again we just didn't want to take that chance now we're not going to change the topology of I mean we're not going to change the too in a way where it's probably just means the elevations of 30 and we're in the field where we will have issues with drainage right so so that's one thing that the C engineer is reviewing and that's why you know it's not it sounds like a simple exercise oh just take the shirt and just spread it around but they do need to model the entire site to make sure that the storm water flow across the site you know we're not creating issues for example neighboring

084properties things like that so they are analyzing it okay um next uh item under the miscellaneous projects heading uh I think we've discussed this a couple times in previous board meetings uh there was an existing stair that was found to have structural deficiencies that has subsequently been demolished uh however this is a required means of egress out of the East Upper gym uh in coordination with the regional Office of Education uh we work with Gil ban and LT and his team to develop a solution for a temporary stair which is what you see in this image here uh however the temporary uh occupancy permit that was granted for this space uh you know is contingent on a permanent uh solution for this stair uh being installed in uh the upcoming summer uh so per perks

085of will as well as our Str engineer are working on a temporary stair solution for this similarly to the soil redistribution uh we expect to have documents completed uh uh in the upcoming months here to provide to gilbane for pricing and uh and bid and then we we expect that work to be completed in the summer of 2024 this upcoming summer uh and lastly uh here at pmsa again we've uh mentioned this a couple of times uh once uh we completed the site redesign here there was a uh a bit of a rethinking in the district strategy for how students uh are brought into the building uh and it put place a lot greater emphasis on door five which I believe is a door that most of us walked in here uh today uh as

086such uh it requires a little bit of rethinking about how pedestrians Circ uh circulate about the site uh principally from the main student uh lot we are going to be providing a uh clear uh walkway to get to the door five area as well as the uh what was initially considered as an overflow lot the lot off off to our left here has since become a critical lot uh for day-to-day operations of uh of pmsa uh as such we will be looking to create uh more safe uh clear Crossing for pedestrians uh to be picked up from that lot uh cross kind of the main entry drive onto Roosevelt Road and then approach the building so uh we're again working with our engineer on that project any questions on any of those two items uh

087other otherwise the um the last item here I don't have any other slides on this other than just to say that um the district has approached Gil Bane for some uh possible ways to expedite the remainder of the Proviso East work that is SL to be completed in 2024 uh LT just asked us to uh kind of just state that you know perks will is here to support with our construction Administration Services as required for our contract whenever that work commences so if it's decided by The District in gilban to start that work earlier uh than uh then was originally slated uh for the next summer we are staffed and uh um prepared uh to support that with our normal construction Administration Services when that rtion take place with that said that is the conclusion

088of our presentation anyone have any other questions before I turn over to Gil B right thanks so much everyone [Applause] all right good good evening everybody good evening uh just going to go over the instruction items I'll recap some punch list updates from the 2023 summer work uh give an update on the provisor west curb remedy uh look into the procurement schedule for some of the items uh that Carl and Perkins well just discussed and then go over the budget allocation um as well as allowance expenditures first thing on the punch list uh taking a look quickly at Proviso East uh we are approximately 65% complete uh with the punch list uh this is kind of a recap of the punch list items uh based either on mechanical electrical finishes General trades and so forth

089uh just a reminder for everybody that the contractors are coming in typically either after hours or on off days when there's no school in in session uh to come complete their punch list there are elements unfortunately that we're going to have to wait till like winter break uh things of that nature so we won't be seeing 100% on this list probably after a winter break uh but we are progressing uh provisor West uh as you can see here we are approxim 67% complete with the punch list from this past Summer's work did anybody have any questions on the punch list I have not going to go ahead and move on to the uh Proviso West curb tolerance update uh so what we did here is we wanted to kind of show you images of what

090the repair or remedy would look like uh if the contractor were to actually remove sections of curb and pour it back uh so we just want every everybody to be familiar and understand what the impact would look like on the not only the curb itself but as well as the adjacent asphalt pavement uh with that being said the concern that we all have as well as the contractor is uh the appearance of the remedy may actually look worse than uh the issue that's currently at hand so what they've done is they've uh looked to provide actually a credit uh so you can kind of see a recap here a first item here is credit for scope and replacement and basically what that is is uh the replacement that they were going to do which was

091basically 10t sections joint to Joint removing and then replacing it uh the value of that with the amount of linear footage that they had there uh they estimated $6,800 so they'd be looking to credit back to the district that amount additionally they've offered to a patch a current area that was uh some existing pavement that got damaged as a result of a water main break uh at no additional charge uh identifying the value of that work is approximately $2,500 and then they also identified some additional storm drainage uh piping work that they did at no cost as the district at the time that the site was open uh was kind of a good faith item on their part to try to help uh push along the project and the value of that work was approximately

092$1,500 so what they're looking at right now is a total savings to the district of $10,000 80 uh so on this came back as a you know a potential or something for us to look into I had actually asked my estimating Department to give me kind of an order of magnitude cost uh you know that replacement work that they were identifying know 10t sections ripped out and replaced uh my estimator gave us basically about a $45 linear foot cost for that work uh so our estimate for the savings if we were just to get a credit based on our estimate that'd be about $855 so the savings the district is actually realized Iz in is slightly more than what our team actually estimated anybody have any questions on that so Bo just so you know

093what we're talking about here is that provisor West this company had did a curve the curve is a section the street and it was that's W be and we LT you know our team B that this is not accept should be straight so Mo it do it so instead of doing that I mean you really have to go what like 50 100 look at it straight and you'll see you know close it do in advance okay uh moving on to the procurement schedule update uh first item on here Bally 16 so we've actually got one of the recommendations that uh LT and I are going to be presenting here shortly is for the M restoration work as well as the uh security camera work uh the other two items unfortunately we either do not have

094sufficient biders or the biders that did submit um did not provide the qualified or the requirements of the work so we were unable to uh take them at this time and then again uh we're looking at having another bid release 17 here in the future we're coordinating with Perkin and will that's going to include the stock pile work for the soil stock pile work for provisa West uh as well as that upper gym exterior stair at Proviso East and then the Overflow uh here at Proviso Math and Science I have a question how come we didn't have an engineer estimate for thaton for the masonry so this the masonry was originally uh it was going to be a change order um and we got pricing from a couple of contractors but unfortunately uh due to

095the value of what the change order was that we received uh it precipitated you know with Illinois procurement law to now go after an actual bid out um so really in our eyes we're looking at what the estimates were that were provided from the contractors that gave us the change or kind of our basis of what the expected cost would have been for that uh as opposed to having our our team actually estimated so you took the change order based on the took that based on the bid that we see from is that what you're saying so we received the change order uh the change order I believe was like 45,000 I think is what the change order value was at the time so that was kind of in our eyes when we realized we

096had to go to the street to bid that was kind of our that should be what our expected cost would be um and then again figuring hopefully with bidding that would actually come in more favorable right and then you know escalation for another year too unfortunately so but that was the reason we did not have an actual estimate for that one um and I know like I said LT will be going over uh the security camera but this was again just an estimate that we had received from our team prior to uh uh the bid this is again from 51823 and the order manage about 6.7 million but we can again revisit that when we're looking at the actual a recommendation you want me to go over that now or you want to I I

097Know M Williams have been working in our schools for quite a while right for while yeah they've I mean since 2020 they were one of our the first electricians on job here so I think it it'll be very disappointing when we see any change over on this job because they know all right uh taking a quick look uh at the contingency side [Music] um uh Project funding uh this was again just a recap of an earlier board meeting uh regarding the funding we identified what the scope of that was and put that into the board resolution um now looking at contingency allowance recap so uh to date we've had $262,600 expenditures on the 2023 2024 project uh that identifies with a balance of unused allowance of 627 323 and again i' like to you know

098Express obviously if no more money is expended from that allowance that's the money that the district will receive back as a credit uh and then the contingency spent was 10,702 and again as I just said looking at this we're looking at a net savings as of today roughly 525,000 uh so this is the first item so this is for Proviso West um this is allowance tracking uh again we're recapping uh the expenditures each straight contractor totaling uh 116,0 246 uh the balance remaining on this uh with the allowances 18375 on the change order contingency side for provisor West uh We've uh spent $5,300 today moving on to uh Proviso East on the allowance side uh we've spent 167,50 today uh which leaves us with a balance of 42242 and then the last item on here

099is the change orders for Proviso East which as uh right now at this moment in time is $47,476 th000 change order let me see which one is and I can tell you exactly break which one was it [Music] break this one here okay so the braak on the Breakthrough on the Breakthrough side we had $2,139 uh for demolition of the kitchen ceiling uh there was some plaster removal that was required in the cafeteria if you remember the cafeteria elements with all the beams uh there was additional plaster removal that was required that was uh 13,000 uh the upper gym stairs demolition which is obviously we've we've seen what the uh the future project to replace those stairs uh that was 14,000 and then we had a number of uh additional small areas uh that required

100some additional cealing demolition uh that was roughly 8,000 and that's how you got to the 56,000 or for those items so the world was how um if so for instance if the well the stairs were something obviously oh the stair that's the one right yeah um on the kitchen ceiling side uh the documents did not call for that ceiling to be demolished um then after reviewing what some of the needs of the mechanical trades and so forth it was determined that we do need to demolish that ceiling that was for the phas of the air conditioning yeah it's for putting all the uh we we ran some new fresh make bear units and things like that in the kitchen um and then again the plaster removal and the cafeteria very similar there were some areas

101that were exposed but a handful were kind of hidden behind the ceiling like that so until we actually demolished it didn't see what the conditions look like and now it was going to be an exposed condition so we wanted to make sure it that cleaned up and look like a perfect situation you know for a an open ceiling environment so that was kind of the the Nexus of those items do you have any other questions or comments on any of the other ones okay this the super we have we have an action the action it we have one action item you won't okay two action it all right uh so the first action I'm here is for bid package 28d which is a security camera work that provides East West and math and science academy

102uh we're recommending award to MC Williams Electric uh in the amount of 5,831 400 uh that is the base bit We additionally have five alternates that we are recommending alternates one and two are a deduct for some cabling uh alternate four is for additional cameras that provise a West on the exterior and then alternates five and six are for additional cameras and upgrades on the exteriors of both East I'm sorry all three schools at East West and pmsa and then the the last action item here uh is for the masonry restoration work at East Fieldhouse uh we're recommending award to rasco masonry uh in the amount of $50,000 so so one and two East and West that's credit for using the existing cat or whatever cat so they are going to use know if they

103yep uh any other questions this was part of the original master plan right this was included in the 15 right it was included in that 50 5051 million a few months ago the masonary work was not the4 50,000 was not but the 5.8 million was this 50 Grand it wasn't the cameras was probably part of the de any other questions thank you all right thank you that concludes the superintendent report that concludes the super excellent all right thank you thank you next is uh reports and Communications from the board president I have um just a few slides and a few comments um is Mr Swanson is here you make the oh we did all right um I do want to um you know in addition to recognizing our students um and Proviso e is on

107opportunities available in a variety of fields and we also have the Department of Defense smart scholarship program this is really um a lot of money for students who qualify um and it also covers internships employment Book and Health allowances um so take a look at those requirements they um look for uh children who are or students who are pursuing a technical undergraduate or graduate degree in one of 24 different disciplines um so we definitely want our students to know what's out there um next we do have app parent informational being put on by the um Deltas that got the Delta Academy this is for middle school girls and then they also have Delta gems which is high school girls um this is also coming up next Monday um it is a zoom meeting so kids

108can register for it online um for the younger girls talking about uh building their capacity to participate as schol leaders and then for the Delta gems they are offering uh road maps for colleges in career planning um and how to get the most out of your high school experience so that it can help launch you um into your future uh I do want to point out the 209 scholarship great chefs event that's happening this Thursday uh this is a great local program that funds scholarships for Proviso East Proviso West and PM Ms students um this has been going on for several years and this has been um just a tremendous help for local families who have qualified for this so if you um like good food and good company and good times I suggest you

109um take a look at this event and see if you can make it um and then I do want to point out that tomorrow um at uh provisor West they are putting this on it's a virtual program but it's power school and schoolly training with parents this is going to be a fantastic program you can watch from home on your couch in your pajamas um but go ahead and register for that um it is via Zoom there's more information on the provis at least website um but for parents this is going to be a great opportunity to get that boost you need to use power school and schoolly uh and to really get the most out of it for your student um and then finally of course I always like to highlight our upcoming board
