There's nobody here, so I don't think we have any public comments. So, superintendent update. >> Okay. Uh a couple of things. First of all, Daniel Medina, he is our cybersecurity czar, if you will. He just presented at a conference. It's actually a cool title. 29 minutes to impact using honeypots and canary tokens to beat the breakout clock. That is going to be our nominee for conference uh title of the year. So, um so, we're excited for all the work that
he's been doing uh with cybersecurity. We talked about the award that they got uh last at the last meeting. Chris Lilly, um big awards coming out now. So, the National um school Is it the Inspira? No, Inspira. No I. The National School uh Public Relations group that he's that he's a part of gives out awards every year, and we won quite a few this year. So, our annual report that we started doing last year, that won the highest level, the Award of Excellence. The branding and imaging package also won the Award of Excellence this year. Our uh Special Olympics photography work that he submitted also won the Award of Excellence. And then, the video that he submitted won the Award of Merit, which I believe is the second one. That's a look at D64's All
Abilities Playgrounds. Um that also won an award. So, that we just learned that news about 2 weeks ago. So, we'll at some point be putting out more information. We'll communicate about our communications awards. So, that's great. So, >> The three awards of excellence and one award of merit. >> Yeah, maybe fourth award of excellence cuz I might have cut this off. But, yes, a lot I'll I'll I'll send you all the um the actual information that he got from that. Um our construction's off to a rigorous start. So, most of the demo at this point is either wrapping up or kind of midway through. A lot of the abatement is wrapping up. Um everything's been going really well. They have the construction meetings every Wednesday. So, they walk all the spaces. They get the update
on how things are, you know, transpiring. Um I do know that essentially at the end of June, that's kind of a major touchstone. So, that's when you start to kind of figure out are things on schedule, off schedule. And we'll we'll know more about that. So, I'll send you all messages um on how everything is pertaining to all of the work from there. But, if any of you do want to go see any of the sites and throw on a hard hat, especially if you want to go see Lincoln, it's pretty cool. So, we could walk in there. So, just let me know. Um especially in July, I think we could we could walk those spaces once they start getting more of the stuff kind of complete or met and the abatement is out of
there. Um I was able to go at the end of May, beginning of June to the School Leader Collaborative. That is a collection of states from the superintendent, principal, and now school board associations that have come together and um they work on what's called the School Leader Paradigm, which is a whole leadership paradigm that it has embedded some continuous improvement stuff that we've been using for the past 2 years. It was really great. It's a very homegrown conference where people are just standing up in small rooms with breakout sessions talking about some of the things that they're doing. It's interesting when you hear what different states are doing, especially from states like Wisconsin or some of our other neighbors who have been, I think, a little bit ahead of Illinois in some of this work.
So, I got quite a few ideas and we talked about that with our team last week um in our cabinet retreat, but some of the stuff that we talked about was just how to like make the the work really alive with their their staff from the strategic plan, the mission vision and I told you all we did a little quiz on that um couple of times. And then how to operationalize that in the values like right off the beginning of the school year and make that a thing that they're doing every time they're with their staff. So, and we're thinking about that, too. I think we also probably can do some work here and think about that. So, you know, in August, just fair warning, if you don't know the new mission and the new
vision and the values, I would recommend you look at them. So, there might be a quiz. Um but we'll have some fun with that and just kind of make sure that like we're talking about it a lot, saying it a lot, and you'll hopefully see it posted more as we um establish some of those things as well. Um I do want to see if we can get a couple people together to write the application for the school governance award. That's due I think August 1st. Does that sound right? Yeah, so um maybe sometime in July, beginning of of July when I'm um back from a little bit of a break, I'll send a note out and if anybody wants to either hop on um you know, a doc that we can work together or get
together for coffee, that would be good to submit. So, I think you guys have earned it and you've done a lot of work. Um and then if anybody can help volunteer at the Taste of Park Ridge on Thursday, July 9th, our typical time slot we've signed up again, which I believe is the very beginning like 11:00. Yeah, very first slot. So, um I unfortunately will not be in the district that day, but our cabinet team will have a few people there, so if anybody can make that a thing. Third I think it's at 11:00. Yeah, it's a 2-hour slot. Okay. It's right away. I will send out a note and see if anybody can do that. >> Yeah, I can't go this year, but it's fun. And your kid can help you. Felix always helps.
>> Okay. All right, great. That'll be fun to have us represented there. Um obviously, when we come back in August, we'll have a better idea of what's going on with the building, so we'll have a lot more to share with that. Um It'll be interesting, too, cuz the August board meeting, I was looking at the calendar this afternoon, is one week further away from the start of the school year. So, a lot of stuff to kind of figure out how that's going to go, but the ex- the exciting stuff in the fall, once you see these redesigned spaces and remodeled spaces, is going to be great. So, we're looking forward to that. If you haven't seen the Jefferson playground, they started putting the fin- fin- finishing pieces in there, and all of the It's going
really fast. Yes, they're cooking. So, um floor should be down for that. So, that should actually should be open pretty soon, I think. It's exciting. Um there Beyond that, we had a a great school year. Like I said at the last board meeting, I think everybody at this point's uh kind of downshifting a little bit, getting a little bit of a break, hanging out at the pool. Um probably mowing their lawn a few times with all the rain that we've had. So, but summer's off to a off and running. So, that's it. >> I move that the board approve the consent agenda for June 18th, 2026 as presented. June 18th, 2026 as presented. >> Thank you. >> Second. >> Rachel with the motion, Myrick with the second. Any questions, discussion? All right, vote, please. >>

All right, anyone want to motion to adjourn? Want to go and hang out for a while? >> Second. >> All right. Miley with motion, Richard with second.
