Samantha Wy, North Skater High School instructional assistant, effective February 21st. Retirement. Bob Beasley, Corporation bus driver, effective January 23rd. So I just again thank you Matt for the moment of silence and just thank

you Bob for everything. He was absolutely amazing. Most person you've ever met. This month we're on the south end. Mrs. Stone, you want to go? >> Sure, please. >> Sure. Um I would like to recognize Melissa Day, um Tara Sample, and Caitlyn Woodall. They are all um members of our preschool team. Um a little bit different capacities. Um Caitlyn has been an assistant in that um classroom for several years. Terara Sample is a special ed teacher and then Melissa Bay is the lead teacher in preschool, too. Um, we are now in our fourth year of Cougar Cups Academy. Um, it's grown from a focused developmental preschool. I don't know if you guys re recall, it was just a developmental room,

um, into a twoclassroom early learning program designed to meet the needs of our students and families across the entire South community. What began as a small specialized classroom has expanded to provide a differentiated space. Um these ladies work tirelessly every day to encourage um exploration, creativity, social emotional growth, and inclusivity knowing that every single student is special. Um if you walk into preK1, you will see various special needs um from mobility to speech um to I mean really anything. We have peer models in there which are typically developing peers and the they learn empathy and um what it means to be inclusive and I I can't speak enough on when you walk into the classroom on the skills that they are um learning that will carry them far far through life. PreK2 is kind of

our transitional kindergarten room and they I have my son is in there and the projects that they are doing Melissa does an amazing job. It's very monosurylike. Um she is playbased. They're doing projects and again just building that that sense of community. Um these ladies practice patients. Um they have attracted actually schools around us to come look at our preschool program. Um which I feel like tells tells you the kind of work that they're doing um with a strong emphasis um on intentional curriculum. They are my my son knows more than my other two did. Not to where they went, but you know I continue. [laughter] We did not have them in preschool. No, you were good. They're their letters, their sounds, and you just walk in [clears throat] there and they're doing it with

activities that they love. Um, the Cougar Cups Academy continues to nurture confident and curious young learners. They are like little ducks in the hallway, which then has led to a starboard kindergarten program at South. Um, and I just want these ladies to know that we appreciate all they do. Um, and especially that they that they give. We have around 40 40 to 50 preschoolers. Um, and I just want them to know how much they are valued and appreciated. So, >> thank you. Mr. Pogen, please. All right. Um, tonight I want to uh recognize three of our staff members. Um uh these three staff members uh have been willing uh to step up anytime that we've asked them to help out not just the south schools but uh the door schools and elementarymentaries transporting kids um

all times of the day uh early mornings, later afternoon routes, midday routes. Um they bend over backwards, jump through hoops, and they don't do without hesitation. Um Stacy Sundle, Donovan Hail, Debbie Young have done a great job this year. Um without them, getting some of the students from the south end to the north and vice versa um would be almost impossible. So we really do appreciate everything you all have done this year. >> And I would like to also transport several elementary students. So um very much appreciated. And I also would like to say [laughter] that anytime there's an issue, whether it's a north issue or a south issue, it's always them that steps up and says, "We'll do it. We've got this." So yeah, they're amazing. >> Thank you for [laughter] always. >> [laughter]

>> What did you just say? >> Yes. [laughter] >> Thank you. >> All of you, please feel free to go home. Enjoy the rest of your evening. All >> [laughter] >> right, continuing on the old policy updates. So, this is the first reading of the policy. There's no action for tonight. We will have action at the March 11th board meeting. Here is the first reading. I've condensed things down to be friendly to everyone's ears and time. Um, we have three by all changes. uh 0142 election and eligibility to serve, 0144.1 compensation, and 0167.2 executive session. These are just language changes from the law. The policy 1422, 3122, and 4122 is the certified, non-certified, and administrative non-discrimination, equal employment, opportunity, anti-harassment replacement laws. These laws are all being replaced because of some vocabulary changes within those

policies. So, all those are the exact same changes. Um policy 2260 non-discrimination and access equal educational opportunities is revised with vocabulary changes. 2260.01 section 504 88 prohibition against discrimination based on disability has been revised. Has been revised to incorporate the changes made to the Indiana code. Um and house enrolled act 1483 and revised to include that current contact information for the office of civil rights is no longer in Chicago, Illinois. It is now in Denver, Colorado. 2266 non-discrimination and basis of sex and education program or activities vocabulary change staff evaluation policy 3220 based off house enrolled act 102 various education matters um it was revised to remove and repeal the four categorical requirements for teacher evaluations highly effective effective needs improvement ineffective other components no longer required are the requirement to explain to the the

plan to the board before evaluations are conducted and the reference to require discussion to be had before is no longer necessary. 32201 teacher appreciation grants. This has been completely revised by the house enroll. Uh 3231 outside activities for staff language changes. 4162 drug and alcohol testing of CEDL owners, holders, and other employees who perform safety sensitive functions is updated to comply with the changes to the federal voter carrier safety administration substance abuse policy. Policy 5350, student suicide awareness and prevention, replacing streamline options to help with and to help fight depression and self-destructive self-destruction in students. 6320 purchasing has been amended to incorporate for changes made by House Enrolled Act 1198. Policy 7440.01 electronic monitoring reporting language changes. Policy 7455, accounting system for capital assets, revised to identify the correct department the state board of accounts

utilize and helping determine the price of appropriate fair market value of an item to the time of the acquisition. 75402 digital content accessibility rule provisions 8452 automatic automated external defibrillators. This has been revised based off the additions from Senate and Rol 350. Child abuse and neglect 8462 has been revised to expand the members of the corporation committee who are responsible to report in a timely fashion. And the nice thing is the following one for technical corrections. We're popping a comma or an article somewhere here or there. 8500 for food service program 5462 retaking a class. 8121 personal background check and 8405 environmental health and safety issues indoor air quality animals in the classroom and idling vehicles on school property. All technical corrections and the following have all been rescended. Uh 4122.02 3122.02 4122.02 this is

the prior non-discrimination based on genetic information of the employee and policy 1662 3362 4362 certified non-certified administrative anti-harassment policies. I will now take any questions any of you have on any of that. Please anybody want them to repeat all of them? Everybody good? >> All righty. Approve early release Mondays for the 2627 school year. Um, this is not something that technically needs board approval. We just would like to go through the uh public board meetings for people. Um, based off of the high school schedule starting next year that both high schools along with counselors, there's been teacher input and cohawkers have been there involved. Um, a lot of parts we like about this year's schedule are kind of remaining. The parts we don't like about the schedule for next year are going away. And in

doing so, the the streamlining and making it easier for everyone at the high school level. It benefits to have the early release on Mondays due to the number of Mondays we're out of the school year through the holidays. And then it also sets students up by meeting every teacher that day for a shorter time. sets them up for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, which an elementary entry guide, I don't get it. For all the secondary people, you love it. I'm happy for you. So, um I just I I think it would be nice just to take a vote so that we know we're on the [clears throat] same page. So, I'd like to have one of you please approve uh moving early release PLC's to Monday starting next week. I hear a >> motion. I'll move

to approve early release. A >> second. Any further discussion? Not hearing any. All in favor? Motion carries. Five to zero. Accept donations. We have one donation this month. North Elementary has received $100 from a donor that wishes to remain anonymous to help for a student's fifth grade overnight field trip uh expenses to Flat Rock River. I'll second. >> Have a first and a second. Any discussion? Thank you for the donation. All in favor? Motion carries. 5 to zero. Approve. Student fundraisers. Ask the board to approve the following fundraisers. Senior class Molly Martin and Aaron Schaffer. Dirty sodas. Sugar-free ingredients. Sale of the product. All in favor? Motion carries. Five to zero. Approve. Disposal of obsolete equipment. Have one item. North Elementary has an old laminator. Mr. Korn would like me to let you know that was there when he was a teacher. Um, [laughter] and now the PTO is purchased on a new one and it is time for it to go away. So, if you would please label [snorts] it obsolete. >> A second. >> First

and a second. Any discussion? All in favor? Raise your right hand. Motion carries five to zero. Information, proposals, communication, reports, South K Elementary School, Mrs. M. Um, in January, our friends of Rachel Club went to the Morning Breeze Nursing Home. This has been uh probably the third year that they've done that and the residents absolutely eat it up. Um, they did crafts, they played shoots and ladders, jingo, bingo, puzzles, and it's interesting. They try to go twice a year and they actually kind of build a very small relationship with the residents. Um, our students are asking to go back in the spring. So, that happened in January. The boys basketball is underway as well. Uh we will play or cater at the end of the month and the first week of March. Uh students raised

money last week for the American Heart Association and they participated in heart healthy activities during PE. Uh progress reports as crazy as it seems goes they go home this week. So we're halfway through the third nine weeks already. Um, upcoming Wednesday, February 18th, is our next chat and shoot, which I you've probably seen on Facebook and they're going to showcase at the A uh Field Food and Natural Resources. So, if you or you know someone that would be interested in having that day to eat with our students, let us know. Um, the week of February 16th through the 20th, we're going to do a penny war with the high school uh that will go to the American Cancer Society. Preschool registration is open. As I mentioned, these wonderful ladies that were here, uh, we do

it in three rounds. So, February 23rd, we will accept application for current preschool students that want to do another year and staff members. Then the next week is in district and then the next week is out of district. So, hoping to get all of our seats filled. Um, the kids biz, which is our um students that are entrepreneurs, they're going to be at the February 17th varsity basketball game set up um in the foyer. So, that would be great. um if you could stop and see them. And also on March 25th, there's a baseball outing and they're going to set up their tables there. Start Your Engines is coming up. I can't believe we're talking about spring stuff, April 10th. And uh this is our third year to do that. So if you have equipment

or know someone that has equipment, um have them reach out to us. Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for March 26, so we can start getting a good idea on our numbers there. And last but not least, um I think four years ago was the last time we had a musical in the building. Um Caitlyn Herrell and Paige Jagor have been working very hard on 101ations. I watched a lot of it this afternoon after school before I came here. Um the kids were great. They were kind of running it themselves. They were kind of working on the sound system. It's going to be awesome. Next Thursday and Friday starts at 700. Tickets are still available. Um adults are $5 and kids are free. So, a lot of great things going on as we enter spring and some

sunshine and warm weather. >> Thank you. >> South Kar High School, Mr. Harris. All right. >> Um, I'll start with I learned checkpoint two. Um, obviously we have checkpoint three ECA and then I learn biology coming up. Um, Mrs. quality has been uh working with departments um to kind of go over that data to see if we can't help influence the um kids performance not only on sports but overall. Um she's also sent out letters to uh parents um with instructions on how to access those um schools. Um so she's working her tail off and that's going to there um scheduling. Um Mrs. Tess has been working with our uh students uh grades 9 through 11 um to uh start getting four year plans together, kind of get that underway. That way we can get

stuff going a little earlier than we would than we did last year. Um and then our 9th grade orientation we have uh February 18th, so next Wednesday um at 6 PM at the uh cafeteria at the high school. Um we had uh over the last two weeks we've had uh multiple kids uh perform at ISMA for the band and choir. Um for band we had two students uh that got silver 14 golds. Um two that made it to state and that's key pave on clear and Josh Chestain on tuba. Um for choir we had two bronze, two silver and 10 gold. Five advanced to state. Daniel Chastain, Lily Hammer, Belly Wood, Bella Wington, Kinsey Trapman, and Miley Ward, all solo um performers. So, that that went well. Um in December, I think I I commented

we had two kids that were going to be performing um uh competing at the state welding contest in January, and that was Nick Na'vi and Henry Edmonson. Um both uh did really well. Um, uh, they didn't move on, but they did well, so I'm happy to see that. Um, we have FFA week coming up in February. The kids are, uh, excited about it, to say the least. I've had several conversations involving uh, the phrase slop. I'm still trying to figure out what slop is, but they're supposed to be pouring that over people, including myself. So, I'm a little curious about that. [clears throat] I haven't got a real solid answer there. Um they uh are going to have uh some dress up days, driving the track to school. Um they're going to be doing some

presentations with the elementary um amongst a few other things. So they're they're they've been working hard on planning that. Um they also uh the FFA chapter is hosting Farm Bureau um annual meeting this year and that's a really nice time for us to show what we have within the the facility. um be able to communicate with community partners um talk about hes and things we need and you know be able to just showcase our kids in that way. So that's really nice. Um the drama department um is going to be uh presenting Freaky Friday um on March 26th, 27th, and 28th at 700 p.m. Um tickets go on sale March 9th. Um and they're available in the main office just talking. She'll help you out there. >> [snorts] >> um our IIA um group uh

was able to um uh present um to softboards um Resconda and Delta all presented and that was uh Monday Monday Tuesday >> Monday. Yeah. Um went really well. U the kids were really receptive. We had 18 kids signed up uh to do tours of facilities. So hopefully that helps build that program up and um you know it was it was a really productive presentation. So that was nice. Uh I heard the kids talking about it several times after uh the presentation was over. So that was good. Um our eighth grade went on the C4 field trip. Also a good opportunity for them to see what C4 has to offer. um to kind of figure out what their pathway is moving forward and um kind of influence their decision making on um on their schedules over

the next four years. Um athletics uh we still have uh varsity uh varsity boys and juggernaut girls uh going our uh varsity girls finished co-c MHC champs um this year. Um so we really appreciate their hard work and and effort there. Um for uh junior high we have Catillion coming up February 28th um from 7 to 10 and the theme is tropical nights. And then lastly we have prom uh which is weird once again we're in spring already but um talking about prom and graduation those sort of things but prom's coming up. Um the theme for this year is Casino Royale and students can purchase tickets starting February 10th. That's it. >> Thank you. >> Other future business, our regular board meeting will be Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, 6 pm here at the central office.

I will entertain a motion for adjournment. >> Motion second. >> All in favor, raise your right hand. Motion carries five to zero. We are German.
