around we ready good evening to all thank you for being with being here with us for our work session and monthly board meeting combined tonight before we open up our board meeting we will have a public hearing uh on our 2023 budget Mr trees and guests Mr President Dr Smith members of the board if you recall last board meeting we presented the budget to you for our to be advertised for this hearing this evening to recap that we're advertising a rate of a dollar 66 however we anticipate the final rate to be about a dollar fifteen which is slightly lower than the current year rate you might say why do we advertise so high well that's because we have to the state when they come in and look at our budget they can lower the

items but they can't raise them so we cover ourselves to make sure we don't leave any money on the table that way the nice thing is we anticipate the rate to be less than it was this year and at this point we would open up for any questions from the public and or the board more question comments on the 23 2023 budget at this time I would take any public comments on the 2023 budget if no comments that will can I ask you just a quick clarification that that budget rate is strictly for our Budget moving forward and does not include our referendum monies correct no the overall rate does include the referendum in there as well okay good if there are no other questions comments on our budget item in the public hearing now

we will hear on our Second Amendment to lease and additional appropriation of the bond proceeds and interest earnings for the 2022-2023 High School site and outdoor facility Improvement project that's a lot to say but tell us what's going on Mr Sharif yes it is if you recall we received bids a meeting or so ago regarding our outside beds at both of our high schools this is the next step in the process to be able to issue those bonds and to present a little better than I can Adam storewald from Barnes is stepping in for Jeff Quackenbush tonight so I'll turn it over to him Dr Smith members of the board Adam sterwald Barnes Thornburg filling in for uh Jeff qualcombush at your July meeting you've considered an amendment to the lease in order to finance

these projects um you then noticed for a public hearing tonight before this meeting the building Corporation met and approved the issue into the bonds and the Second Amendment to lease and so before you denied us a resolution approving the Second Amendment and then a resolution appropriating the proceeds up to 30 million dollars or any questions or comments on that second amendment from the bond at this time any public comments no questions or comments it will close our public hearing thank you Mr Sir wall thank you Mr Freeze I guess I hit it again now we'll call our work session boards meeting to order stand with me for the Pledge of Allegiance please of the United States of America to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for

stand and the new entryway there on the East door or the east side of the building three-story at Ln is pushing hard as you know we are planning on moving into this uh winter break and third floor working down so flooring will start next week this is the new family and consumer science and one art uh classroom going in as well as the main hallway into the new addition a new pool entrance uh of course it's moving forward a lot of paintings going on right now as you can see the locker rooms here the next slide uh the interior once they have this completed in there on the picture on the right or left there uh we'll complete this week and hopefully they'll start digging uh the week of uh October the 3rd for the

new pool Belzer and Fall Creek continue on as well as lecc with HVAC upgrades and Air Handlers and controls going in place are there any questions on the Blue Ribbon update I had a question um thank you Mr Smith I just wanted um for an update I forgot when the timeline was to start utilizing the new Lawrence North Pool will that be next school year that'll be uh fall of 23. okay thank you and I had uh one other uh question or a comment did I see it correctly on social media but the new cafeteria is being used at Lawrence Central yes it is matter of fact we held a faculty meeting there and Elsie is using it every day okay so again uh right next to the senior Cafe we'll complete this fall so

it'll be totally complete by the end of this school year thank you what I saw looked very nice I would recommend the board go and see the bare hot top chairs yeah that could be a real good basement item auction item for somebody so they are very nice well done well done and Mr McGregor for the record we do have Wildcats well the Wildcats we have the same furniture they will have the same uh once their furniture comes in starting in December and our two principals agreed that that would be the look for our two house high schools equally thank you thank you Mr President they're well done real nice real nice any other questions or comments on our Blue Ribbon update event pay resolution Mr Street Mr President Dr Smith members of the board

in an effort to make payment of athletic officials more efficient especially in the spring when we have a lot of rain outs and they have to find different officials I I'm bringing a proposal with a resolution for you to allow this to happen at the secondary level you may say why should we do why do we need this well you write checks at the beginning of the week for all the athletic contests the way it goes now you have a rain out you change the official you have to avoid that check rewrite a check and this will allow not necessarily real time but close to real time of changing who that person is and then the treasure can initiate that payment through electronic process that goes right into their bank account you've seen the procedures

outlined in the resolution that is presented it's it keeps our internal controls in place where the we still have to use the forms established by the State Board of accounts to account for it it's just a different way of paying the official but in order to enact that the board must adopt a resolution what which I'll ask for later in this meeting what are any questions or comments on the event pay resolution an update to how we take care of business thank you sir I'll propose 2022-2023 board goals board on our last meeting I'll table this because I wanted all of us here in person just to kind of make sure we was all on the same page if there's any discussions that we might have if there's any comments or questions you have for

those that support the four goals we'll take this time to discuss those everyone should have had plenty of time to look at the board goes so are there any questions or any clarification on the goals okay yes Mr President yes go do those real quick for the public or do you have we been doing before the park again we did not we did not yeah we held it Dr Brown yes yes yes let me let before we go have any questions yes let's uh present the board goals to the public yes president president McGregor school board members Dr Smith I'm pleased to walk us through the proposed board goals for the 22-23 school year and call upon some cabinet members to assist and first I'll ask our chief of academics and Mr Troy noter to

review the goals surrounding equity and anti-racism and student achievement so the the first area Mr President members of the board and Dr Smith is implementing our action plan that you approved in regards to Equitable student outcomes you approved that at the April meeting and so the goal should be outlined around implementing and then reporting those outcomes to the public in terms of student achievement I recommend that we stay tight and focused with similar goals to what we had last year so graduation rate maintaining our 93 percent graduation rate across all subgroups while we're increasing our percentage of students earning academic honors or Technical Honors by five percent in every racial subgroup staying focused on our rigor diagnostic goal achieving or exceeding a year-end rigor diagnostic of 9.0 or growth by 2.0 points from beginning of

the year to the end of the year and just a reminder it's a 12 point scale for our rigor diagnostic scores on the next slide we see some standardized tests the first one is a growth of 10 percent in the number of students reaching proficiency on our district benchmark assessments so these are our local they're internal we give them several times throughout the year both in math and in reading and a growth of 10 in every racial subgroup the next one is about our state testing and so this is about increasing by 10 percent the number of students that are designated as approaching at or above Proficiency in every subgroup on iLearn thank you Mr Nader our next our net area is a strategic plan and and in this area the goal is to create

a strategic plan for the district to be implemented in the Years 2023 through 2027 and doing that in three ways getting input from our community and staff surveys as well as committee work across all areas of the district it's a three-year plan right okay the next area um surrounding our goals is people and we'll ask Miss Carla Johnson our chief of HR to review this area good evening president McGregor school board members and Dr Smith our first goal in people is looking at all of our employees and how they'll participate in common District develop PD for all job classifications around the area of equity new hire equity onboarding and ongoing Equity PD in all divisions and schools and cultural competence and racial bias through our safe schools modules our intentional focus on recruiting hiring and

retaining bilingual staff this year will be a Baseline and we will continue with our two former goals of increasing racial and ethnic staff diversity by three percent through Recruitment and Retention and recruiting and retaining 90 percent of District effective and highly effective teachers thank you Miss Johnson our next Focus area for our goals operation and finance and so we'll ask Mr shreves to review this area yes Mr President Dr Smith members of the board these goals are very similar to what we've done in the past the cash balance of 12 million dollars in the education fund which puts us right at around 10 percent of our annual spend in that which is in The Frugal range keeping all the tax funds in a positive balance at the end of the year and then and then

to keep with our Equity district-wide increase our minority spend by three percent for the year thank you Mr shreves and our final area Safety and Security Mr Roger Smith Mr President members of the board Dr Smith we are committed it's on that we are committed to creating safe and strong schools for Community requirements per Indiana code that deal with emergency preparedness plans and drills each year each semester pre-impose security checklist review and update the board policies and guidelines and over 25 board policies attain pertain to school safety expand on updating our internal School plan including new equipment and personnel and that is the summary of our proposed goals just just leave them up rules questions or comments my question would be it was on Slide on the fourth slide concerning the Baseline goal not met

for 2021 for black Hispanic Yale and fr students um do we know just so that just to have a a baseline for or understanding our other townships having I learn issues as well like that not being met okay is this realistic then as far as or maybe this should be like an off no no because I learn if I'm correct I learn um 2019 ISTEP was replaced with iLearn correct I'm just I will be honest I'm curious on if there are certain Kinks that just maybe there's some test bias or maybe there's some concerns there as to if it's a Statewide problem and if this is also one of our goals now there's a concern there we're full aware of that we don't get to control statement standardized testing but as a competitive School Corporation

we're always going to make sure our kids are well prepared Mr nolder did we set high expectations and goals yeah so this in particular goal this is an ambitious goal yes no doubt however as a district we may not have met in those four subgroups but we had individual schools and individual grade levels that did and so that is clear makes it clear to me that this is attainable this is possible and that we should set this ambitious goal okay bottom line we can do it yeah it's gonna be challenging no it's not that it's not bad it's just the here's that social I'm just yeah thank you thank you board member I know where you're going I I also have a question about um slide number four growth of 10 percent on District benchmarks

um was that over every racial subgroup yes so we just didn't have to to write that's that's yeah we met that in every racial subgroup last and so um our our benchmark assessments working well in tandem with the iLearn okay how can we tweak those a little more or so um that's something that we examine every year and I think there's several factors to consider when doing that the the first is the length of assessment for math and reading internal is much shorter you know iLearn is over several several days um the other piece to considers when our teachers are testing with students in their own classroom and they've taken the test three or four times throughout the year there becomes some familiarity that isn't necessarily there with the iLearn assessment so they are a

little bit different however the fast Bridge assessment is nationally normed and so I think it's an important recognition of when we can control all factors to miss Puckett's earlier Point within our classrooms what kind of growth we can get from our students so do we so so we feel that there is an issue of testing anxiety involved what I learn is a very lengthy lengthy assessment and so there's a stamina issue for many of our students do do the children get uh do the students get a chance for um breaks during that test for snacks for when they chew gum that day suck on mints and yes all of all of those things all right okay thank you so much any other is Norman um I had a question on the last slide Safety and

Security uh it's the last Point number four expand on updating our internal School plan including new equipment and Personnel just for the public does this point kind of already tie in with our new Blue Ribbon updates I.E the blue ribbon projects will be incorporating updates to security measures or they'll be addressed in the new buildings is that correct as we move through our Renovations yes those will be corrected and enforced in our new Renovations as well as updating our metal detection system as well thank you so on that same slide I was wondering about the second bullet point I wasn't sure what pre and post security checklist refer to go through uh Jim Parrish and I look at before school after school different events so pre and post we look at that evaluate and constantly

looking at how can we improve um what we do with Safety and Security and everything we do throughout the year let's go to the very first slide words matter words say in different words based in my my experience your experiences mean certain things equity for some means so words like anti-racism and sometimes or a red flag when it has nothing to do when we talk there's a more positive word we can use to talk about anti because this Equity work is about any and all students that might have any kind of parent it's not necessary to its own racism the reason I'm bringing it up is because we got a landscape we're in a time now when people look for things to just stop to look for they run different searches but school districts see

if you follow the guidelines by your state policies and or the thoughts around what school districts should be doing what I don't want I don't want certain words in the goals they could bring unnecessary attention teachers through email somebody just just not to do asking questions because they don't fully read the entire document so I want us to think about that equity and anti-racism in the lens of those who just looking for trouble thoughts on that from the board also not from everybody in the room and I'm really thinking about it from your protection more so than we're going to hear one word that is a strong word to have on our wardrobe when we really talk about inclusivity you're really talking about equity not necessarily votes on that I'm open here I go I'd

like to disagree I appreciate I will disagree for this point is anti-racism it's the fact of it is the discomfort of it to me it is literally calling a thing a thing racism by definition is Prejudice discrimination or um I'm gonna say that wrong directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership and a particular racial or ethnic group typically one that is a minority or marginalized if we have data that is showing certain groups concerning the achievement Gap we have data that shows that certain groups um that there's disparities there I think it's bold and just calling a thing a thing sometimes things can't be addressed unless you call it out that it's it is a stem from racism so I think that it is a hard word that it's going

to take a deep dive within self on when you hear that what does that raise up in you and what do you need to address I think it sets a bolder statement for us and this is what we're going to deal with because by definition it's anti what I just read and I think that is absolutely tied to student achievement I want feedback from you all in the room yeah I mean I I would not eliminate the word anti-racism um I might add the word inclusion because the word inclusion does appear in the first sentence so the heading of this could be Equity inclusion and anti-racism I would I would second with to say and also what this Puckett had to say we should we should leave anti-racism there it's crucial to the success of

our district but we need um we need everyone to know that this Equity policy is also um something that could be copied in any District whether they had racial disparity or not um it could be copied in any District where they have special education where they have special needs groups of any kind so I think inclusivity is is important also but in our district anti-racism is very important and and I think seeing this um let's our Community our building leaders and our students understand we're serious about this issue and I'll take that email any day I I agree with everyone as well I like the word that you used barriers that our district is going to overcome help students overcome barriers based on race based on disability poverty language barriers the the all-encompassing so I

agree with what everyone had shared on that thank you for the educators comments Mr McGregor I'll speak for the entire group as it is this lovely Monday evening reminding the board that what you have up there is your equity and anti-racism policy correct Dr harsh Barger and we incorporated that if you recall last year's goals and we've been consistent when we've presented this that that is always first leading the way so you can change that but remember you already have a board policy that's right there on the screen it's anti-equity and anti-racism and there is the statement okay and so on all of our documents we've been very consistent with that well when we talk about our Equity report Troy we use the term Equitable student outcomes remember that the equity report which you approved

the whole premise behind it is Equitable student outcomes for all children okay so do we want to change it to Equitable student outcome go um don't know okay okay because I think it's very impactful because when you approved the Equitable student outcomes inside of that document the very first thing you read Mr noder and Community is the board policy that you have up there of equity and anti-racism created in 2015 revised I think in 18 as a board you were on the board there Mr President too yes you were too the reason I bring this to the community's attention because there are some awards some districts can't even say the word anti-racist and I don't want anybody in the community to not think that we don't understand what this means no way do I want

to change it but I want to make sure people understand our thought process and how we feel as a board in a community around this work this has nothing to do with CRT it has nothing to do with this is about exactly what it states and we are not afraid to talk about it in a public setting so the question and the comments was to make sure that everybody got a chance to say something so the communicate here at this board supports this one absolutely thank you I have so much more that I could say but I'm just going to leave that just right there so good thank you for having correction sir thank you for your comments no changes are needed any other questions or comments on before those themselves proposed goals at this

point I I will just say again it's outstanding that we've met the the goal of graduation across all subgroups that's outstanding outstanding and look forward to more and more honors diplomas members of the board Mr kuznick will bring that report after in October November for the class of 2022 so we'll we'll look at that by subgroup and celebrate that there's no other question coming thank you Dr Brown thank you for all those who added to our conversation and clarification of the board goals thank you Financial update series Mr President Dr Smith and members of the board if you look at the general fund it's kind of interesting when you look at it because we're way ahead of where we had anticipated but when I look back over the past eight months and we look at

the number of Staff members that we were unable to fill their positions and you add those dollars up that pretty much makes up the difference that we're looking at there and we're still positioned short right now filling people so it's kind of a hard thing when you compare the budget to where it should be to where we are because we aren't spending the dollars we should on staff because they're not here so that's kind of what that is made up of and transportation is they're a little bit ahead of where we anticipated but primarily that's in the revenue part we had a little more taxes come in by about a half million there and you see the salaries have come in line if you remember a few months ago salaries were ahead of budget but

that's because of some of the stuff items we had going on and we coded some jump start there that shouldn't have we taken it out so transportation's doing fine I'd be happy to answer any questions anybody has at this time is the just the timing is that likely to stick my guess is we've collected more taxes in the spring than we normally do which will balance itself out in the fall that's always a tricky one on our property taxes as to how much we'll collect in the spring over and above the first installment then we anticipate foreign I think my question is for uh maybe a different um topic but not having staff in place begs the question how many staff do we not have in place that we need um are they certified staff

mostly classified readings um it's a variety of certified and classified staff it's a moving Target on a daily basis so what we have on our website is kind of a way of seeing what was open but we're constantly hiring year round so there are some positions that we have out there that we're just always trying to fill but all of our classrooms are filled with two with certified teachers we do still have openings for certified teachers right now okay I can send you specifically so I think the Board needs to understand do we have movement of teachers after the start of the new year and the answer is yes sure that's something that was not normal you could Bank on prior to the pandemic that all of your teachers were for the fall were field

in the spring and summer well guess what people were moving to other districts at the beginning of the year something that is a new phenomenon that all School corporations are experiencing Carla Johnson today asked me to approve a 21-year teacher from a neighboring School District that we just hired to fill a position that's what we're doing board and the public needs to hear that so if you know of anyone out there is interested in teaching let us know about it we also need to encourage more people to come into the field of Education because that's where our problem is so we're going to work very hard board we are an attractor we will bring people to our district but I do cringe when I notice that it's almost October and I'm bringing someone from another

school corporation who will the next day have to fill that same position that we just took from them so we're going to continue to work through it prior to the pandemic you didn't have to worry board about teachers leaving at the beginning the middle of the school year that's what we're dealing with and I do want to put a public service announcement in for Roger and Mac operations as well as Transportation Matt you're always looking for bus drivers thank you okay any other questions or comments on our financial update thank you Mr trees board on to our board committee chair reports let's start with uh anything on policy so um Dr harsh Barger you may want to supplement this but Dr harshfarger does tell me that we will likely get a new packet of potential

policies in October to start working through so there may be one more round of that this year there may be certain board members that would like to get training on this since you won't have me around next year so if anyone wants to you know help be trained just let me or Dr harshfarger know and we 'd love to train you up what'd you say having been on that policy committee before I say you mostly just need a good reading light yeah maybe that is very helpful maybe we need help from the Susan Jordan summer reading maybe they could read it I'll have them on standby children can read it the problem is they're not going to interpret it but they'll certainly read it Dr harsh Barger former Elementary principal the kids will read it

well for us I like the way you think thank you Mr Fiji Lawrence Parks and Recreation thank you Mr President a lot going on all the fall leagues are well underway including the super popular pickleball um also there has been a new uh sidewalk created connecting the Lee Road Park to the walking and biking trail that goes to downtown Lawrence increasing our Pathways for um our Trailways I encourage the public to take advantage of that and then finally there's loggers and Lawrence next Saturday September 24th from 2 to 6 p.m at the Fort Bend cultural campus and that is all I have thank you Ms Normans any question for just knowing what everything's taking place in parks and recreation thank you Foundation so Ms Mustin asked me to give the foundation report we both are

on the board and I can't remember it was your excuse because you were celebrating around the island Ireland or something I was visiting all right fair enough um well anyway the foundation board did meet uh last week Dr Smith gave a report lots of good questions and good content and information otherwise the uh um meeting just was just kind of normal business but there are some events coming up down the road and so and the foundation is always looking uh for development opportunities of people that might uh be interested or maybe not even interested in being contacted with respect to some fundraising activities because Jen Gibbs the new executive director has been off to a great start and she's very willing and interested in meeting additional potential donors and uh business community and all so

anybody has any thoughts on that let Wendy or me or or Jen know directly thank you Mr Fiji brought on to our action items approval resolutions regarding a second amendment to lease Insurance a bonds additional appropriation of bond proceeds and interest earnings and related matters for the 2022-2023 High School site and outdoor facility Improvement project Mr President Dr Smith members of the board I'm not going to try to repeat that whole little title again but we had the public hearing earlier this evening I would recommend that you approve the resolutions relating to that as submitted so moved as submitted second move is Wendy Mustin second Miss Amy Norman questions or comments all those in favor signify by saying aye aye aye and it pose the same motion carries thank you approval of event pay resolution

I would recommend that the board approved the resolution for event pay as submitted earlier this evening so moved second oh Mr Dick freezy second Miss Amy Norman questions or comments board all those in favor signify by saying aye aye and it pulls the same motion carries thank you approval of the 2022-2023 board goals I recommend that the board approved the 2223 board goals as submitted so move second oh Miss Crystal Puckett second Miss Wendy Mustin questions or comments all those in favor signify by saying aye aye and it pose the same motion carries thank you Mr President I move that we consider agenda items 5.4 through 5.8 as a consent agenda second and moved by Mr Dick freeze second by Ms Norman to consider items 5.4 through 5.8 as consent agenda items questions or comments

all those in favor signify by saying aye aye aye and it pulls the same motion carries and move approval of the consent agenda second move to approve the consent agenda by Mr Freeze second by Miss Wendy mustard questions or comments all those in favor signify by saying aye aye in opposed the same motion carry board thank you for your participation on to or comment is normal I I just have two points tonight the first is football the second is farming uh with football and I'll get to that in a second but um great job by the Wildcats and the Bears Friday night on their big wins um we enjoyed also watching the unified flag football team perform at Lawrence Central on Thursday night they did awesome they had some moves they should have been on

ESPN I think they scored like 44 points so that that was definitely a highlight of our week and then on to farming it's harvest time at the Norman household so I'm gonna follow Mr freegie's lead and bring my produce to share with everybody okay we have bags too we have more of these at home so please take all you want it is inflation free um but I was thinking of an analogy normally I like to use Sports analogies but I was thinking um during the pandemic we had a bad storm right about the time of the shutdown and it messed up a lot of our trees then we had a light frost that same year and the last two years we really haven't had any fruit at our house and then this year it just

took off and it was like Nature's pruning and so to me I was just thinking visually um that we've all our communities been through a lot of storms the last two years and on a positive note I'm hoping that we will be seeing a lot of amazing fruit with our kids and our staff and just our community so my son would say I was being sappy but I just feel like the fruit was a good analogy of the last two years so please come up afterwards and take a bag I miss Norman man she might be going last Miss it hey go ahead thank you all right [Laughter] there there is abundant I should have brought I should have thought of that because there is abundant veggies at the Fiji yeah household so particularly peppers

and tomatoes but but squash too uh that's pretty much anybody who's welcome to stop by uh our home and the peppers are hot they they're good well well there's also mild Peppers we we just didn't give you anything and that was by Ricky that was by a request you you love them hot right I do I do yeah I do but anyway there's Peppers of all types you have pictures photos of Ireland or I yeah just come come by later for pictures of our of our of our trip to see our daughter um you know um the township um gifted our family with incredible education for our two daughters um and they both now live very far away doing very wonderful things and so um yeah I think the township for that and I also

would like to say that I did attend the lnlc game what a what a great host Elsie was what what you know what what a great team they both have and I would like to also say that um passing through security was very thorough and very pleasant the staff did a great job and and um I appreciate that very much thank you Miss muscle you just it um yes second to what every everyone said but I will say I have to add this uh democracy is near and dear to my heart I know we are nonpartisan but I would be remiss if I did not add that school board um seats are opening up and so to do our due diligence and investigating researching and doing what doing our part in our democracy to make

sure that those seats are filled with somebody that we feel best represents our Township and so I just urge to go online um what is it uh Gob board I should have had that ready for you guys right but you can investigate to see who's actually on the ballot but to do your due diligence and making sure that the seat represents our Township so well said just real quickly I had the opportunity working the Lawrence Central like a really marching Pride Invitational just a quick feedback from parents when I'm out there and praying like hey follow who that's who it is feedback number one this is one amazing building that Lawrence Township is doing man I feel bad for the other school I said well sir the other school is having the same Amazing Project

he just cannot believe the let me put it like this when he clustered his heart I thought he was having a heart attack because I actually thought he was because he crushed his heart and beat it over and then he's I just cannot believe the support this school district is getting to do a project two projects like this and if anybody asked me what school district that is doing work in Marion County Indianapolis Indiana I would definitely say you should go check out Lawrence Township his individuals from down south so that's all to everybody Roger to the team and everything's being done there the second comment was parents were a little concerned with the lack of volunteerism and I told him that I was going to say something about the importance of parents being involved

with our kids doing extracurricular activities in a lot of different ways parents not only set the tone but the parents show how to be respectful and they show why they care and what I like about our parents is you don't know what child they're apparent of because every child calls them mama daddy and I want to commend the parents of Lawrence Township for being those type of parents that says a lot again about our school district and then last but not least I know we had an accident at the building and I had a lot of phone calls people just concerned with the students how the students were how to fat staff and everybody was and it was just people just calling about it I just thought man that says something about people caring what

takes place in this school district so that's all to everybody for that and then the last thing without without saying all this wonderful work this fall on behalf of the school board we thank you for the work that's being done we know that you're short-handed in a lot of areas we know that some of you doing double duty we know we know there's times you look around like Warriors who is oh it's me and we do not take that for granted for all the work that you're doing to make sure that our families and our students they don't even know it's a shortage they don't even know that we don't have certain people's staff because of their extra work that all the teachers and administrators are doing so on behalf of school board we thank

them for that so thank you Dr Smith thank you Mr President I'm going to keep my comments short um Friday evening we celebrated the alumni distinguished alumni for Lawrence North High School with Miss Ashley Spencer who's an Olympian and the principal and I had lunch with her and I want people to understand this this young lady graduated over 10 years ago and has had a degree of success at a very high level in the world stage but you know what she wanted to talk about was her teachers that's what she wanted to talk about and how much that they've given to her so as we think about what we do in education don't forget the impact the teachers have on young people this is an Olympian a world-class athlete and all she could talk about

was Mr nesbeth and she wanted to see Mr Harsha they're both sitting in a room today so thank you gentlemen for your commitment and other teachers at Lawrence North that poured into this young lady we know we poured into her because she brought her entire family to the Celebration an Entourage about 30 people came plus people came to her celebration and that is a student a young person in Lawrence Township that you certainly lifted up with being an Olympian athlete and also a college graduate and so she made it very clear that these individuals had a lot to do with her success and she thanked us on Friday so that that's my story for the week and Mr President we'll move on to our next board meeting thank you sir we'll have a a combined

work session monthly meeting in October that meeting be on October 3rd we will begin at 5 30. again it'll be a combined work session and board meeting at 5 30 on Monday October 3rd if there are no other questions or comments I will take a motion to adjourn Mr President I would just note if anyone is listening to this online that our usual meetings are the second and fourth this is the first Monday in October so it will be a little different than usual thank you yeah of course fall break yes yeah of course thank you German second probably
