Good evening everyone. We'll go ahead and stand and uh please we say the pledge and we'll go and get the meeting started >> to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all and uh proceed here. We'll do the spotlight school, Maxwell Intermediate. >> Evening. We have a really large group of students and teachers for you this evening. Uh we are so fortunate at Maxwell to have a strong core group of science and STEM teachers. Um so I have two science teachers, Mrs. Proper, Mrs. Griffin, our STEM teacher, Mrs. Stewart and our dean of students, Christine Celi, who works really closely with this group of teachers um to continue their growth through professional development um focusing on

student engagement, crosscurricular alignment um across our school and helping students take ownership of their learning. So, they're each going to share a little snippet and then our students are very excited. who've done a lot of practicing. So, they're very excited um to speak with you um in small groups and show you what the work they've been doing in their enrichment groups and in their science notebooking. So, u Mrs. Poker, come on up. >> Yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. >> Good evening. >> Okay. So in quarter one, our students have the opportunity to explore planetary science and in doing so they got to explore uh the experimental question, does the size or the speed speed of the meteoroid affect the crater diameter? So I'll direct your attention to the screen and it just shows a snippet of the

video of in progress. the sounds are the best. In doing so, they had the opportunity to collect data, analyze it, and represent it graphically, and they're very excited to show you that work in their notebook. Students have a strong focus in ELA and writing. So on any given day you can find them writing um in science and they will uh use the race method or the SPO which is the single paragraph outline and that's part of our writing revolution curriculum that we've adopted corporationwide. They might scrapbook, they might use a Padlet, they might use paper and pencil but they're putting that information into their notebook. The last part I wanted to touch on is that students do take ownership in their learning and they do pre and post test at the beginning and end of

each module. In doing so, they create a an individual goal and a group goal and a class goal. And I'm proud to say that students have shown tremendous growth in science this year. Okay. Uh we are currently working on many habitats and ecosystems. So students have created and are maintaining aquariums and terrariums in class. Um you can see a couple sample pictures of students analyzing and interpreting data. Um as well as the first day when they were um going fishing and collecting their guppies for their aquariums. Um our focus is what interactions look like with their organism with the organisms and their ecosystems where they're living. Um students have collected information in their science notebooks to analyze, interpret, um to think like a scientist and these are will be some of the pages that you'll

see today of their data collection. So, uh, we are doing log sheets for terrariums as well as aquariums, and they're tracking populations, the interactions that they're currently seeing, um, observations of what's happening inside, and any changes that they've seen um, in the past few days or week. And then we're drawing connections throughout our unit um, by creating um, uh, food webs, focusing on the interactions between them and the trophic levels. um in each ecosystem and this is some of their student work that they've created in projects. Um in addition to uh collaborating and planning with Chris and Cara, um I am lucky enough to be able to spend some time with some of our students doing a STEM club and this year we are um exploring the use of microbits and they are going to

share some of those with you. They've created some really cool coding programs and we're having lots of fun and it's very engaging and interactive. There you go. So, as you've seen in those examples that are on the pictures and what's coming to you next, there's a lot of great things happening in our science classrooms and our team of teachers have been using e-learning days to help build some of their knowledge and professional uh development background. Um, We're very thankful to have such a great team. Um, we've been collaborating with as well as our sixth grade science teachers and our STEM teacher also collaborating with GIS's sixth grade science teachers and STEM teacher. And we've been focusing on um looking at those strategies that are bringing in student engagement um to bring these kinds of things

to our classrooms. Uh we've also been looking at the NGSS science standards which have a goal of moving our students beyond just a passive memorization of concepts and more active and inquirybased learning. Uh so this teacher team has spent some time digging into it's a three- tier approach with the NGSS standards and most recently we focused on those crosscutting concepts with each one of those standards. Um, so this is work that is helping to prepare our students to be creative and critical thinkers, which will prepare them for the skills they need for their future lives and careers. So with that in mind, I'd like to invite our students up to demonstrate ownership of their learning and share a little bit of what they've been working on so far in sixth grade. Okay. How you doing?

They were talking about the impact. I'd like to Terrarium is shows you like how we did it. basically shade. I am so sad. I don't know. I haven't yet got a one minute warning. Minute warning. still just one that's This was the original. >> Thank you very much. So that's I don't remember. >> I can tell she's takes a lot of pride. >> Appreciate that. >> So, as you can see, they have a lot to share about what they've been working on both in STEM club and their science. I'm very proud of the work that the teachers and the students are doing together to document their learning um learn those skills of taking ownership over their learning and all of that. So, thank you for the opportunity to share with you this evening. I appreciate

your time. >> Thanks for coming. >> I will say as an old science teacher, this excited me and knowing where these kids are going to be when they finally get to the high school, the sky's is the limit. I really think so. >> I feel like our teachers are doing a great job preparing them for what they're going to need to do in the future. So, thank you all. >> Thank you. >> All right, we'll move right along to the Lilian Endowments Fellowship. >> We have a guest with us. I'm gonna actually I'll let >> Mr. Wal, you gonna come up there with Mrs. Vale? We're gonna tag team. >> Good evening. I'm Ann Vale representing the Community Foundation of Hancock County's education committee and I appreciate the opportunity to be with you this evening

to recognize two Lily endowment community scholarship finalists from Greenfield Central High School. As you know, the Community Foundation provides philanthropic leadership by encouraging giving, learning, community pride, and civic engagement in Hancock County. Our organization accomplishes this by serving as a vehicle for people of all means to make a charitable gift to the now $65 million endowment at the foundation. We grant over $1.5 million each year, equip nonprofits to pursue their missions effectively, support educational attainment beginning at birth, and enrich and enhance our community's quality of life. The Community Foundation of Hancock County is privileged to count the administration of the Lily Endowment Community Scholarship as part of our rich heritage. Each year, the community foundation applies for the opportunity to recommend two graduating students for Lily Endowment for a full 4-year tuition scholarship award. Eligible

applicants must be ranked in the top 15% of their graduating class and plan to pursue a bachelor's degree to be completed in four years at any accredited Indiana public or private college or university. Student applications are submitted online and reviewed blindly without name or contact information by third-party professional readers represented by an experienced group of outofcount community foundation personnel or educational professionals. The third party reviewers select eight finalists, two students from each Hancock County Public High School who best meet the scholarship criteria. Community service is the primary criterion for qualification. Financial need is not a consideration for the Hancock County Lily Endowment Community Scholarship. this year because one of the scholarship finalists is the child of a community foundation committee member. The eight finalists were interviewed by a thirdparty committee identified by the foundation, all

of whom adhere to a strict conflict of interest policy and reside out of the county. The committee had the very difficult task of selecting two students from the talented pool of eight finalists and submitting their recommendation to Lily Endowment for approval. Pending that approval, the awards will be announced in December. At this time, it's my pleasure to um share with you and introduce our two finalists and present tokens of the foundation's respect and admiration for these very talented, exceptional people. So, at this time, I'd like to uh let Mr. Wbal tell you about Carolina Sanders and Gustavo Contraras. >> Thank you, Ann. Appreciate you being here and obviously appreciate our support and partnership with the foundation. So, uh we're very proud of our two nominees, our finalists from Greenfield Central High School. So, in alphabetical

order, our first finalist is Gustavo Contras. Uh Gustavo is the son of Blanca Barahas and Edgar Contreras and they are here with us this evening as well. Uh he's been involved in several different school activities most notably assisting with peer tutoring for our ML students and this is something where uh Gustavo has really been involved not just in in name or in a block on his schedule. He really has gotten himself involved in helping with uh the peer tutoring of of all of our ML students, but especially our native Spanish speakers. He's also been involved in student council, suns sunshine society, soccer, Spanish honor society, and our newly created uh science national honor society. He's also volunteered for the Greenfield Area Soccer Club. He plans to study accounting in college and continue to serve those

around him. So, um, I will say that in reading one of Gustavo's letters and his answer on the application process, it was really interesting to hear how he plans to continue helping others themselves. I'm confident that work will continue. So, congratulations, Gustavo. Our second finalist is here with us as well. Carolina Sanders, the daughter of Meta and Keith Sanders. And also Caroline's grandmother is here uh this evening. So, welcome. Glad you can be here for that. Uh Caroline's been a student teacher at Harris Western and a part of the Cougar Cubs preschool program. uh she's performed in the GC choir in the Bella Voce and has also been a leader in what was once called JAG at Greenfield Central is now called uh LEAP with our um emerging leaders. So uh she's volunteered for many

years for the Hancock County Humane Society and the Hancock County Food Pantry. Uh I was really pleased I'm also pleased to report and was pleased to hear this from Carolina that she plans to become a teacher. So, we like that and uh we were glad to hear that she's going to study elementary education at Anderson University. So, congratulations Caroline. >> Thank you everybody. >> Congratulations. >> We'll move right along. Is there any public comments? >> There were no requests. We'll move right along to matters for for the board for consideration. Can I get a motion to approve the rigorous school board meeting October the 20th, the executive section October 20th and the executive session October 1st 25? >> I move that we approve all the minutes as listed. >> Can I get a second? >>

I'll second. >> Say I think bunch of claims Mr. today. >> Uh, yes. Included in your packet are regular claims, payroll claims, and a construction claim for the uh tennis court expansion project. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Otherwise, ask the board approve the claims as presented. >> Can I get a motion to approve claims as presented? >> Make a motion to approve the claims docket as presented. >> Second. >> A second. >> All favor say I. >> All those same move on to uh financial matters. >> Mr. Day. >> Yes. Thank you. um kind of a hodgepodge of items. Um due to the early nature of this meeting, we don't have the detailed reports, but I've included uh month-to- date revenue, month-to- date expenses, and our year-to- date cash balance of our

education operations fund. Um as we've talked in the past, these are two major funds that we're working with. Um I've revised the revenue for the education fund to be more consistent with ADM. Um in the operations fund, we're actually trending a little bit better than our projection and the education fund is a touch lower um but that is attribution support payment. It came in a different month than had past years. Um overall we feel good about where we're at. Um as we come down to the end of the year is when we'll get a vast majority of our revenue from the last half of the operations fund between transfers and tax payments. Next item I'd like to update you on is um in our continuing efforts to be efficient with our operations fund. Mr. Maxon

and I have been working to review our outsource custodial services and how we operate that and what our need is going forward. Currently we're working on kind of a temporary hourly build system. It was really supposed to be a stop gap as we were able to get more people hired in. And we have been able to do that. Mr. Max has worked extremely hard and has has put together a has hired a number of people who should start between now and the beginning of next uh calendar year to replace a number of our particularly daytime custodial temporary custodial folks. The other thing we've looked at is is instead of using hourly folks going to a contracted service for four of our buildings in the evenings, really focusing on the cleanliness of restrooms, classrooms, using that

group. Um we're getting a couple of bids right now. It looks like we have a couple of folks interested and I'll bring that recommendation forth in a future board meeting, but we'd like to start that in January. Um, as we look at that, I mean, we're projecting a fairly sizable savings without sacrificing any of our clean concerns. So we're gonna finally the interesting thing in all this not interesting is we will be able to do this actually not decreasing our FTE employees. So we're not firing employees to to find a cheaper solution. We're just deploying our employees. We really want to have that that the the employees in our hight touch buildings. got students in the building. So at our elementary schools that would be during the day in the evenings, we don't have the

activities they do. And so the high school is going to continue to have a lot of a lot of our employees all through the day shifts, you know, so we have that customer service mindset, you know, helping the people are here for a sporting event or a concert or something like that. But we're actually we're actually looking to keep all of our current employees employed, just using them in slightly different positions. What time of day will they be coming into the school? >> Um, so right now, right now, second shift runs 2:30 to 10:30 or 2 to 10:30 depending on on what's going on. Um, so they would be doing it in that time frame. Um, there will be some extra demand on some of our staff to make sure that we're set up for

any evening activities at the schools that they're involved in. We'll work with principles to make sure that that happens. We're not just going to stick them out there. unsupervised >> since they're a subcontractor, but they go through background checks. >> Yes. Yes. Both of the groups that we work with and and the current group that we're using adhere to the full uh school corporation required background check that we have all of our teachers and IAS and bus drivers, all of our employees are subject to. >> Uh both of the companies we're we're looking at have extensive experience with schools and other public entities in the in the near area. One of them works with New Pal and Mount Vernon showing the schools. Currently, one of those is our current contractor. So, these aren't these are

are more school public entity focused companies as opposed to, you know, office building downtown cleaning crews. They they know their way around school needs. Uh, next update, SEA1 policy analytics update. Um, in late October, we got some information from the auditor's office that gets us down to parcel level data and policy analytics is going to review that and bring us a report and we actually meeting on November 13th to look at that. Um once we get a chance to see that report, we'll continue to update you on their predictions of how SEA won affects us and we'll get a lot more information particularly since we'll be able to see exactly what the auditor filed with the state for us for our 2026 AP. So it'll be very detailed analysis down level which was something that

we didn't necessarily have the last time. Um, we've also received word from the county that they will not exercise their option to end local income tax distributions in 2026. 2027 was when that was supposed to start, but the state law that was passed gave counties the option to start it a a year early and our county has chosen not to. So, that is that is good news for our >> It's a really big deal. It's about a $600,000 hit we're going to take in 2027. At least it's delayed for a year. Um, as you may remember from our November 4th meeting, uh, we talked a lot about the efforts we have made on teacher compensation in terms of salary and benefits for our teachers and and increasing that to be the highest in the county,

average pay in the county, and also not just meeting but exceeding the state's metrics on teacher compensation. When we talk about salary and benefits, they asked that we be at 65%. Uh we are 70 over 70% again for the 2024 25 season. uh as we discuss as we'll discuss later in the meeting when we ratify the 2526 contract you know we continue to focus on those raises but also increasing the support for our health insurance pre not putting the the the burden of that full increase on our teachers trying to find an equable way to share that um and and maintain those raises along with the compensation report we received a memo from the DOE concerning state tuition support teacher salaries we've included that memo for your review And per the request, we'll post it

on our website. Uh finally, we're coming to that time of the year that the end of the year when we do transfers. Uh in December, we make our traditional end of year transfers. This will include our typical education fund to operations fund transfer transfers to the retirement fund to cover any of our classified retirement expenses that happen during this during the 25 calendar year, and any transfers needed to resolve into the year negative balances. A lot of times that's moving money between construction accounts and and balancing up some of those items. I will bring those to you in January as we have typically in the past for your approval. Um and it'll include the amounts and the funds involved. I haven't answered any questions on any of these items. Otherwise, this is for your questions.

If not, thanks. We'll move on to construction. got a few different components here. Mr. Carrier is going to take the first couple related to some high school course offerings. >> Yeah. So, this time of year, we always bring new course proposals to the board for a first reading. You have there a brief summary of 15 different courses the high school is asking to offer the students when they begin scheduling here in the next few months spread out across five different departments. I put a brief summary there, but there's a link to a more or a more detailed summary if you have any questions. These most of these courses are the result of the new Indiana diploma. Trying to make sure that we offer flexibility for our students. So you'll see that there. This is just

a first reading. Happy to answer any questions. We also have some high school people here as well. We will not ask for a vote until December. >> Any questions? So they're going to be able to accomplish a lot of this by not offering like English 11. >> They won't offer that. When we look at the English courses specifically, uh, within the last two years, we have changed English 12 and offered more courses. So, it's not specifically English 12. The high school is asking to do that as well with English 11. Uh, so this will give more options, more flexibility to students, hopefully give them something that they're interested in while also keeping our high ability options as well. >> Second item I have for you is a new proposal in the math department. So, this

came from meetings with the state where they have asked us to get creative and think outside the box when it comes to offerings for our students. And so, the high school has done a lot of work looking everywhere they can to find ideas for new courses that will meet the needs for our students. And one of those courses is what we are tentatively calling CTE math. Because of the nature of the process, we need to have an approval from the board first before we can move that along to the state level. And so simply what we're asking for tonight is just an approval to continue that process on to the next step. This is something that we would anticipate to offer to freshman and sophomores. And again, it's taking the math components and using the

real world relevance that DOE has asked us to use different career and technical education courses, construction, technology, manufacturing, and other related fields. So, we think this is something that could be exciting and make math a little more relevant for some of our students. And so, before we petition the state to move forward, we're asking for approval from the board to begin that process. >> If questions or comments, can I get a motion to approve the high school to petition the state as the next step in the process? >> I move that we approve the high school petitioning the state as the next step. >> Second. Second. All in favor say I. >> I. those same. >> Thank you. >> You want to take the HC3? >> I'd love to. >> You have here a joint

agreement that is being presented to all the four county schools on behalf of the Hancock County Career Center and Amplify. This is a joint agreement. It's going to be approved again hopefully by every school that spells out the 13 different articles that we're going to help give structure to the new career center that we're opening this summer. So, we would ask that this going to be approved tonight. Happy answer any questions you have. Uh we would just like to join our community partners in getting that approved. >> Any questions or comments? If not, can I get a motion to approve the agreement? >> I move we approve the agreement for >> second. >> All in favor say I. >> I. Before we move on from this H3 kind of reminds me having Mrs. here or

the community foundation of Hancock County has been a partner for us in trying to find some resources to support some of the programs that will exist there. I've shared the story before with with many that the Hancock County Commissioners, County Council RDC put over $40 million into that facility. There was still a little bit of a gap in some of the equipment that we needed in that facility. The community foundation has been very successful at getting some of those uh resources in place and again the goal is to open that. It will be opening in August of 2026. So their support has been very helpful. Uh we just got a a six figure donation here within the last week. I was able to work with Stan Wilkinson and Mary Gibble to to achieve that. So,

we're going to continue to to work with some of our community partners to ensure that we have what we need for HBAC, electrical, the the list for the auto shop. Those are the things that if we have community partners out there hearing this, we would love to have that support. >> Right. We appreciate that. >> Thanks. >> We have two other things that are in this and I'm actually going to ask Misslair to talk a little bit about the schoolbased mental health annual update. >> Very good. So, In there you will see um some great results from the staff satisfaction survey that we did that shows 100% of our school-based mental health staff. So our social workers and our counselors and school psyches um are satisfied or very satisfied with their job. Um they find

their job to be meaningful or very meaningful and um 86% of them feel that they get opportunities to grow professionally. Um the number of students that we are seeing in tier one which is whole group you know class lessons on body safety anti-bullying um is up 326% from last year and we've seen over 11,000 students in um that tier one area. We're up 186% in our tier three numbers and over 236% in our tier 2 numbers. So, we are seeing almost 15,000 students with our um school-based mental health staff. So, we're very excited about that work and that we are achieving all nine goals that we wrote into the grant when we got that um almost $ 1.5 million grant from the federal government. There were nine goals and we're meeting those goals year after

year. Uh this year we did not meet the goal of retaining 100% of our schoolbased health staff. We did have a couple of people who left us for different opportunities, but we were able to replace those. Um, as we continue to look for alternate ways to fund some of our, um, great programming, um, we have recently submitted an additional school-based mental health grant. So using this kind of data to submit to show how we're meeting the goals that we set out to do and how many students that we're impacting um really helps with that um endeavor. So thank you for indulging me and looking at all that information and um hope to bring you similar results next year. >> Thank you. >> And one last piece in your instructional report about the purple star designation.

We actually just received that last Thursday, I think it was. You want to share with us? >> Yeah, Thursday. We found out Friday it was officially announced a press release. All eight of our schools were awarded the Purple Star recognition. Um, we talked about that a couple of months ago. You you gave us permission to move forward with applying for that. Um, and it recognizes schools that show a commitment to veterans and military families. So each school has to apply separately. You can't apply as a district. So each one of our schools did meet that criteria. And um we were able to announce today and then again tomorrow during our school's Veterans Day programs to our veterans and military families that we received that distinction. >> We did have three of those programs today and

as she referenced, we'll have five of those tomorrow. It was nice to be able to announce that to our veterans today. That was very well received. um 20 schools in the state got a renewed designation because they were already Purple Star and 80 schools got a new designation. But um you know of those 80 we we have eight of those spots because all of our schools got a spot. So our entire district is recognized for that. >> So be proud of that. >> Very thank you. construction project updates. You >> know, I gave you a number of pictures to show what's happening on the the property west of the high school, what was formerly known as the the Frost property with the tennis courts, the parking lot. Hopefully, those pictures are are showing you the

progress that is being made. The the concrete has been poured for not only the curbs, but the the sidewalk area that outlines the courts. The asphalt has been poured and leveled. The the fencing is about 90% in place. parking lot that's been striped. So, they're doing some some landscape work before they're hoping to before the snow. They'll continue that this week, I believe. There are a few things that they will have to finish in the spring, putting that final layer and the striping. It's a very specialized business and unfortunately just didn't quite get that done this year. But we are first on their list for the spring, we've been assured, which should be sometime in late March or early April. Mr. day and I are happy to answer any questions you might have about the

content or the pictures that requested. >> Everything looks good or impressed with it. >> That's all I have for you on that collective bargaining agreement. >> Well, this is one I'm happy to share. This is really no change in the materials in front of you versus what you would have seen on October 20th. Working with our classroom teachers association representatives, we start that process over the summer. Talk about what our goals are. That a lot of common goals. The good news is we were able to achieve those. You see that for the most part this is u a raise that would range between 1,000 on the minimum 2,000 on the high end where we needed to make a few adjustments where things had gotten a little bit of a ride. That average teacher raise is

a little bit over $1,300 right at 2%. Some language changes I've I've mentioned there just some things that needed to be updated and that collective bargaining agreement but I really have no changes beyond that. put that before you for an official vote at this time. >> We have no questions or comment and we approve the 2025 2026 collective bargaining agreement as presented. >> I move we approve the 2526 collective bargaining agreement as presented. >> Second. >> All in favor say I. >> I say. >> Thank you, Mr. We'll get moving on some retroactive checks for our teachers here in the next couple weeks. >> On the restructuring of things, >> the topic of restructuring, obviously, we've been talking about that quite a bit over the last few months. We had a big event that would

have been last Tuesday evening. Five of you were there. Thank you for joining us. We had approximately 50 people in attendance. I would say over half of that would have been Greenfield Central staff members. We had over 200 people that were watching the live stream and then since we posted that on YouTube, we've had that last check >> same number you had this morning. >> Okay. 8 851 people had reviewed that. We did have a QR code where people could respond to a form. We had had 13 individuals choose to do that and provide to give us some comments. We had some boards that came to the board email that goes to you. Uh and Corey collects about 20 comments that came in from that. I really feel like it was a great opportunity for

us to share with our community the process we've been in over the last two years, the things we've been looking at. Gave us a chance to address history a little bit about how we compare to some of our life-sized peers in central Indiana. Mr. today addressed much on the finance side, education fund, operations fund, debt service, a little introduction of of how Senate World Act One is going to be impacting us over the next five years. And then it gave me the opportunity to share some of the recommendations that came in from our our partners that we have have looked to for the last year and a half. and then ultimately leading to the three recommendations that I put before you. But based on the feedback that we've received from staff, feedback we've received from

the community, we know that it's not necessarily the perfect recommendation for everybody in Green and Center Township. But as we look at the the three goals that we have, that the goal to increase our preschool participation, that goal to really maximize what we're doing with our students in grades four, five, and six, as well as finding some efficiencies for both the the education and operations fund. I still believe those three recommendations that I shared in that setting and have shared with you in the past are still in our best interest. That being combining our two intermediate schools to place them at at Maxwell, combine Weston and Harris into one larger elementary school at Harris and then locate all of our programs at West. I still believe those are the best moves forward for Greenfield Central

at this time. With that, I I really just kind of turn that to the board and look uh look to you for some next steps. with everything. No questions or comments. Can I get a motion to combine the two independent schools and utilize Maxwell as a school site effective at the 2026 and 2027 school? >> I'll move that we approve the action to combine the two intermediate schools utilizing Maxwell as the site effective for the 2026 27 school year. a second. >> Second. >> All fair say I >> oppose. Same sign. >> Thank you. We're working on that. >> Can we also I don't know interested in entertaining motions on the other two items or if there's a desire to continue um consideration of those. But I would at least like to um recommend that

we ask Dr. Roland and his team to bring us a recommendation in January for um the the staffing the personnel decisions that will need to be made for that combined site at Maxwell. >> We would certainly be fine with working on that. It would be our intent to do that right away. I think getting teacher input as well those I think that's what we heard from the fourth grade transition was just getting that input. So I mean I would like to have it in December but I also want to make sure we get those that are affected most get their input and so I think get taking that time to get that input and then having that recommendation January would be best to learn some of the lessons from the fourth grade transition but make

sure we hear from those impacted most. I think also, you know, getting the announcement about the fourth grade in April and then, you know, it's end of the school year, it's kind of crazy. I think knowing what's kind of the future of that site, especially thinking of the administration team and for the teachers affected, you know, knowing that in January is going to be a lot more conducive to making plans and knowing it's going to affect a lot of folks just giving six months to plan for that next school year. So, I would echo that having that ready in January. I think agreeable on that. >> We will certainly get busy with that, Mr. Marine, Mr. Jack and I, in terms of >> getting some input from staff and some things they'd like to see

in that that leadership team as well as starting to work with staff about preferences that they would have much in the same way we did with our fourth grade teachers. Appreciate all your work you guys have done with this. >> Thank you. the other two as well. >> Well, I think it's up to the board whether anyone want to move to entertain the other two action items here. Obviously in chronology they are they they would take place second but um I mean I'm willing to make a motion that we also um approve actions to combine Weston and Harris into the singular larger elementary school for the 2728 school year as well as locate all the preschool programs then at Weston for that same 2728 school >> year on the Second say I >> oppose. >>

We'll start working with our staff about that as well. Again, that would not be a shock, but we've been talking about that with our staff. But again, thinking about what that that leadership team looks like, assignments that people are going to have. So, thank you. I didn't think one last, you know, several folks made the mention of thinking of a referendum or funding for the sixth grade wing in the the junior high. I don't want to speak for everyone. I mean, I like that idea, especially having kids that are coming up of reducing a transition, but I think as we talked with SEA1 and I think Nate and I went to a seminar and I don't know what month that was, but it's probably going to be other changes coming from the legislature whether it's

this year or next year that these actions don't affect potential future actions of getting to that K through 5 68 912 model. So this doesn't but completely eliminate that. But I think where I lean, you know, the referendum piece is yes, it might be nice to have a vote, but there are a lot of communities that that divides. I think especially what we're trying to do, bringing that fifth and sixth grade, those cohorts together in one building. I think having that referendum option out there could potentially divide the community. And so I like the these ones keep that option on the table without dividing the community. So, I just want to make sure I know that came out in some of the comments and I don't disagree with the comments, but I think looking at

it from all angles that this is our next best right step. >> I know we've been talking about it for a long time, trying to weigh the the pros and cons on that. So, I I certainly appreciate your patience with us as we've tried to draw in as much input as we could. >> We appreciate that. Appreciate everybody's efforts and hard work on it. Anything else you guys new business information yesterday? >> I have two items of business information. The first is grants and donations. Uh the Greenville Central High School Art Department received a donation from the Riley Festival Association for use in our heart classrooms. The amount of this donation is $1,500. The Greenfield Central High School band received a donation from the Riley Festival Association as well. That amount is $500. The Greenfield

Central High School Choir received a donation from Roberto Brooks. The amount of that donation is $75. Excuse me. The Greenfield Central High School Performing Arts Department received a donation from Ludwis, who is our ticketing agent. The amount of that donation is $1582. The Greenfield High School Interact Club received a donation from the Rotary Club in Greenfield. The amount of this donation is $250. The Greenfield Central High School FFA received a donation from Jerry Titus for their use. The amount of that donation is $1,345.50. The Greenfield Central Junior High School received a donation from Greenfield Banking Company, Sinarama Joiner Homes, and Greenfield Signs for the athletic department. The amount of this donation is $1,500 uh in cash and $500 credit towards future signage needs within that building. And finally, the Greenfield Central Junior High School received

a donation from the Riley Festival Association for an educational arts grant. The amount of donation is $1,799 and there are a number of teachers receiving that grant that are listed in the attached letter. I ask that the school board approves these grants and donations as presented. The amount of these opportunities is 7 62752. >> Thank you everyone for donating all this all this to us. We appreciate that. Can I get a motion to approve the grants and donations as presented? >> Move that we the grants and donations as presented. >> Second. All in favor say I. >> Oppose. Same. >> You have one. >> Yes, I do. The second item is our yearly authorization of a resolution to participate in the Indiana Bomb Bank fuel vehicle fuel budgeting program. Um we did uh participate in

this in 2025 and uh the two years preceding that. It's this is a program that assists us in managing our fuel cost. It sets a ceiling on fuel prices for the coming year. Um, and if the price exceeds the the cap, we get money back from the program. And so what we're really doing is is limiting our our risk on future gas and diesel increases, particularly for our transportation. Um, the program in 2025 was net neutral. What we spent, we we got roughly that amount back in the few months when we did exceed the caps. Um we received that two months. Um we believe it's prudent for us to participate this in the coming year giving the unrest in the Middle East and the increasing economic volatility. The resolution is attached for your perusal and

I ask the board to approve it as presented. >> One question and I know we spoke a little bit about it cap prices of the gas and the diesel and it was blank. Before you sign the contract, will you bring it back to us or do you let us know? Yes. Yes. I will let you know what the cap is. They need unfortunately they need commitments from us so they can take it out to price it. >> That's understandable. Appreciate that. >> Mr. D, do you remember what that cap was last year? >> Not like any numbers. >> You know, on the other hand, I can just tell you any number. No, I believe it was like four something, wasn't it? >> Um, so it depends on the program. Gas was a little bit lower.

was in the in the 216 range and then the diesel was was in the mid3s. >> Yeah. I I I I will bring that for comparison once I get this year's cap numbers. >> I just think we really need a little bit this next year, >> you know. >> Yeah. Just pop those numbers out. >> I just want to make sure we're we're getting our bang for on everything. >> Absolutely. Absolutely. As as we've discussed in the past, this becomes a little bit of an insurance program. There was a time where where there was actually a collar where there was a cap and a floor and if you dip below the floor we actually owed money back to the bond bank and that was not as appealing as this or at least what we're really

doing is ensuring our um our our our list our downside risk of of a massive inflation in bus fuel prices fuel prices. Uh the good news is this is this is same um company that helps us with our natural gas program and and we have saved lots of dollars hedging off our natural gas and that's really a true hedge. We're buying we're buying shares of natural gas out to the future. Um in fact I think we've got hedges running out into Lake 27 already for that. Um, and we typically end up buying anywhere from from 25 to 30% below what the market price ends up being in that time period. >> Do we know is our neighbor schools involved in this? >> Uh, I don't know about the uh about the fuel budgeting program. I

believe they've got about 85 school corporations across the state who participate. Uh, this is a statewide program. those natural gas uh programs are really local programs and we have uh I believe it's about 3540 schools in central Indiana um you know Franklin Township and Warren Township and and then schools our size you know Shelleyville and us and and Heights South Madison we're involved in that. >> All right. Thank you. >> You're welcome. >> If no other questions can I get a motion to approve the resolution as presented? Make motion we approve the resolution as presented. >> Second. >> All in favor say I. >> Say. Thank you, Mr. Day. >> Thank you. >> To board policy recommendations. >> I have one piece of new business here. >> It's not on your agenda. >> No, sorry

about that. >> We have a conflict of interest from Mrs. close who is a member of the Barnes and Thornberg law group and their group is representing the underwriters to our new bond issue. She's not involved in that group at all. We don't select who underwriters take but we've gone ahead and she's filled this out. We'll present this the board tonight. You approve it. I'll take it to the county clerk tomorrow and get it to the state board of council. >> Any question, comments? We approve closed concept of interest. So move second. All in favor say I. I. Mr. Shaw. >> Yeah. The board policies. I I told you I was going to give you a month or two off. I'm back with some first readings here. There are only four of them this month.

We have C525 medical needs at school. slight adjustment to what we have talking about the requirements of AEDs which we go above and beyond what that basic was initially D300 controlled substance and alcohol testing for some of our pre-employment screening F125 for purchasing procedures and capital assets that aligns with the state board of accounts guidance to use $150,000 limit for federal purchases and the last one F-176 you've seen this one a couple times recently we just revised that a couple months ago to talk about the frequency of of when we would >> Pursue collections. There you go. And move that to quarterly instead of monthly. And we also made it a little bit broader to involve all of our students. It had been kindergarten through 12th grade before. We obviously have some preschool programs doing

that now. It has a just a small uh change in there for notification to to parents in there. So, they're pretty minor changes. And of course, those are listed for you highlighting what those changes are. It's a first reading. Happy to answer any questions you have after your first review of that. If you have no questions, it would be my intent to bring them back to you as they are next. >> Have any questions or comments? Can we move on to state field trips? >> Okay, we'll move on to those. We we have three different groups from the high school asking for permission for overnight trips. The first one not a stranger to you. That would be Nick Kirkoff asking to take the group to Sanduski, Ohio for the Kalahari Classic VEX Robotics Competition. It

takes place in January. He's done that the last couple years. The second one comes from our Blue Fusion Dance Team. The list of coaches there have asked to take the team to the National Dance Alliance Nationals which would be in February in Orlando, Florida. And then the third one, a similar trip we've taken in the past to the Spartan Classic in Connorsville. We have that letter from both Ryland, our new wrestling coach and athletic director Jared Manning. These groups understand the expectations we have for overnight field trips andor out of state incur no to the corporation. I have no reservation for recommending that. >> Yeah. Can you get a motion to approve the field trips as presented? >> I move that we approve the field trips as presented. >> Second. All in favor say I.

>> To contract recommendations, resignations. >> Move of absence for Katie Filibong and Maxine French. Certified resignation Anderson. Classified recommendation Quinn Dobins. A lot of ECA recommendations. Zack Allen, Tyler Chidam, Megan Coffin, Reed Dietrich, Sam Dvau. On that next page, Austin Early, Dwayne Gibson, Garrett Yiziki, Jacob Green, Dakota Breell, Macy Henderson, Megan Henderson, Sam Jennings, Thomas Johnson, Dwayne Kette, Sandre Lacy, AJ Lton, Cooper Nor, Chris Tatum, Kenny Thompson, Jackson Williams, and that's the list of them. So, uh, I would ask that the board approve those personnel recommendations as presented and give us permission to hire as needed for the duration of the 2526 school year. And of course, I bring those names to you at the next rate pres. >> I get a motion to approve the personal reports as presented. >> Move that we approve

the personnel report as presented and authorize hiring for the 2025 2026 school year. >> Second. All in favor say I. >> I. Second. I do have one introduction I'd like to make at this time. I'm going to ask Mr. Kerry to make that introduction. >> We are very happy to welcome back to Greenfield Central our new chief of police for Greenfield Central Police Department, Quinn Dobins. >> We're excited to have him. We really are. >> Following our program this evening, we would like to have a a swearing in process for him. >> Yeah, definitely. Well, we'll close this up and get on to that >> ought to Did you have no other >> That was the only introduction to make this evening. >> If we don't have any other discussions, can we move on to

dates? Right. School board meeting Monday, December the 8th here and then Thanksgiving break will be November 26th through the 28th. We don't have any other discussions. >> Can I add one other item? have a special board meeting next Tuesday on the 18th. I know I didn't put that here, but just I know everyone has that in their calendar >> right here. >> That'll be right here. And that we'll be looking at the the bond a step in that bond process. >> Right. >> I have We have nothing else. Can I get a motion to adjourn this meeting? >> So move a second. Oh, all in favor say I. I. >> All post saying, thanks everyone for your time. >> Thank you. You ready to get out of here?
