All right, we're going to call the meeting to order. If you will please stand with us and recite the Pledge of Allegiance and have a moment of silence. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. All right, I want to welcome everybody tonight. Is Is there anyone here wishing to speak on any of the agenda items? Very good. Okay, hopefully you guys have looked through everything. Now, I'll entertain a motion for the approval of the regular and consent agenda. >> Mr. President, I'll move we approve the regular and consent agenda as revised. >> Second. >> Okay, all in favor? Aye. Opposed? Okay, motion slides to zero. Very good.

Okay, so >> Uh on the consent agenda Uh I know we've got a new hire here. Uh first of all, the transportation department transportation director. You guys just voted on that, right? >> Yeah. >> So, we're good there. Uh Alex, could you stand up, please? So, this is Alex Whitfield. He's going to take over on June 1st as the transportation director. He's coming in a few days a week just to start learning the job a little bit. He's from Hamilton Southeastern. He came highly recommended His a transportation director there spoke very highly of him and uh gives him a lot of peace because he does such a good job. He's currently in charge of their field trips and their sports trips. Which those daily are more than our entire route. So, um so he's used

to to a lot of volume and and high quality. So, we're excited to get Alex started and um I think his wife is here. Do you want to introduce us to her? >> Yeah, this is my wife. Uh we actually met at work. Um so, that's how that started. Uh we're going on 3 years married and she's still putting up with me, so. So, hopefully I can be with Top for a long time and we have a good relationship and keep it going. >> EXCELLENT. >> I'D LIKE TO INTRODUCE I HAVE ALAN SEGER HERE. ALAN, do you want to stand? Um Alan, you just approved as our middle school math teacher. And I'm super excited because um I interviewed Alan it's been a few years ago and tried to snag him. And we had some

honest conversations um after that interview. Um he was offered obviously the job and there were some personal circumstances um that were happening in his life currently that that he was not able to take the job at that time. So, when his name popped back up and he and I started communicating um and then we we interviewed him virtually and so um Mrs. Cobb and I were very excited for the second time to land Mr. Seger as our middle school math teacher. So, he also is very eager to coach, so we're hopefully very very excited to get him maybe involved in some of those middle school extracurriculars. So, welcome. >> MY PLEASURE, TODD. >> AND I JUST WANT TO SAY briefly um this agenda was probably the hardest agenda I've ever had, especially in this position,

but there were a lot of cuts to the corporation and a lot of lives affected and that's reflective of a lot of the things that we just had to approve through our circumstances. And over the last couple months there have been a lot of really hard conversations with people, a lot of lives changed, so um you know, I wish the best to everybody who was affected and you know, apologize for the situations we were in, not of our own doing, but just cuts in funding at state level. Every school's going through it. Uh but it really stinks and a lot of really good people got hurt and uh I hate that we had to do this tonight. I just want to recognize that a lot of people's lives were affected through no actions of their

own because everybody who was affected was a really excellent individual. >> Okay. Any of the principals? Next. >> Is >> Any highlights? Anybody >> Is Wyatt here? >> Yeah, we got a couple here. Make sure. I know we talked about softball real quick. Um students of the month here. I know we have a massive agenda. I'm going to try to get through some stuff here, but we had uh for the month of April for our students of the month, these are selected by teachers and staff. Anyone that carries a badge can kind of weigh in on these. So, our freshman, I did not see him. Is Wyatt not here, right? Okay. Our 10th grade, who she just delivered an amazing presentation with her peers, um it felt COME ON UP. >> SO, HERE'S A LITTLE

BIT ABOUT WHAT SOME PEOPLE WROTE. Ava represents what it means to be a good citizen and a good human being. She stands up for those who are struggling, who might need extra help, or those who need to have their voice represented, and that was on case tonight. She's also led an initiative for school uniforms and is presenting to the school board. Way to go, Ava. After looking at everything that I'm going to go off here is your progression from freshman year to now. You kind of walk, hang with your group, but now I see you walking the halls differently with much more confidence in you. I think at such a young age that's hard to have that confidence, especially in a public school setting, a private school setting, all of this, but you are walking

like you have a purpose more so than ever is what I see, and I'm really, really glad uh to see that because I know in the next several years Taylor's going to benefit because of that purpose, so I appreciate you very much. >> Thank you. >> ALL RIGHT, TAYLOR. I THINK SAVANNAH'S ON THE DIAMOND PLAYING softball this year. And then, is Tyler here? They're all super busy. All right, so those are the ones that I have then for we'll do those ones, so uh if you want to see Tyler, you can come see him uh on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the auditorium for senior awards. We'll be on select. Here. >> I uh my name is Max Johnson. I'm the high school band director here at Taylor. Um we're going to highlight the band

uh this month for you uh cuz it's been an incredible year that First thing I want to say though is the the thing I'm most proud about at Taylor and our band program is that it's all about the students. It always has been. It always will be. And it's reflected in the fact that we try to do everything we can and it's actually kind of our I don't know our our end goal is to set them up to when they graduate high school, they want to continue to play their instruments, whether it's a church or and on at a gig at some kind of a party or something that just gives them a chance to perform or college. We've had several students leave Taylor and go to college to become band director or to teach

music in some capacity and I I know one right now today taught a lesson at the Clark Pleasant Middle School to audition basically and part of our for interview process. And she was one of our kids. She's one of our band students. Uh we have students playing all over the place and that So I guess for me before I talk about the accolades and the things I'm here to talk about, I want you to understand that it's it's all about them. It's all about setting them up to have an amazing time here, but then also to continue um going forward in music. Uh I wanted to read to you cuz I know I talk a lot, so I wanted to just read it so that I don't get into a tangent. Um but here are

the 2025-26 basic statistics for our band program. Uh Taylor Marching Band earned a gold rating at ISMA Open Invitational, a gold rating with distinction, all three distinctions, music, visual, and general effect at at regionals, earned the top 10 spot at semi-state advancing and they got to hear the words state finalist for the first time in 11 years. And uh my daughter's on the video screaming about it that I had to share with everybody. It was awesome. Um they were excited, to say the least. And then finally placing eighth place at state finals Uh among the top bands in the entire state. The band department had 11 students accepted and performing honor bands across the state both concert band and jazz band. These students were among the finest musicians in the state. We had 100 plus

high school and middle school students participate in ISM solo and ensemble. There are schools double our size in this area that don't take half of that amount of students to solo and ensemble. We We when when you look at the the list, you see Taylor go the doors and you see Taylor Taylor Taylor Taylor Taylor. All these Taylor kids, it's amazing. And they go in and they they do very well. Of those students, 20 were state qualifying gold ratings and only nine out of all of that were silver ratings in the entire group. All percussion events and two wind events got gold with distinction at state solo and ensemble gold ratings um and then two silver ratings from the rest. Taylor jazz band one and two, we've got two curricular jazz bands this year and

last year. Um They earned high marks at Pendleton Heights Jazz Festival along with two of our students performing in the night concert with the honor jazz band and with the guest artists that they brought in. That was an incredible experience for them. The winter guard had our highest scoring competitive season earning an impressive fourth place at state finals in their division and then ninth place overall from 42 schools. And of those schools, you're talking all school sizes. It's not just by our division as far as school size goes, okay? I mean, we were up against Warren Central. So, that'll tell you kind of what that means. Taylor advanced concert band earned a gold rating for their prepared repertoire which was three pieces we took. One of them had to be a piece, and that just

means it's it's deemed appropriate for our group level. Um, and then also the band has to, in 10 minutes, look at a piece of music that they have and then perform it for a judge. And uh, that's our sight reading, and we received a gold rating in both the prepared and the sight reading. Um, and with all of that, we are in the top 12% of band programs in the state that earned our sixth All Music Award. Which means in the high school gym you're going to see one more banner hanging up. Sixth straight, and second. Yep, sixth. I I only didn't get to do it one year, and that was my first year because I was here half semester and then our half a year. The very next year uh, we started earning them.

And so, it's been really uh, helpful. So, that's that. Now I get to have fun announcing some of the students that are here tonight. A lot of them are busy. It's a hard time of the year to get kids here, but I want to just feature the ones that I just talked about. So, our drum majors for marching band this year, if you're here, just come on up when I call your name. And I'm probably going to call certain names several times cuz they were in a lot of different uh, things. So, marching band drum majors, Elijah O'Neal, Sierra Cabazos, and Alannis Calvert. I didn't see any of them here, and that's okay. Um, jazz band honor band, Brody Stall was in uh, JAZZ BAND ON TUESDAY. UM, UH, ISAIAH STRIKER. HANNAH KENNEDY NUTT UM,

IS NOT HERE. Hannah Michael was one of the honor concert band students. COME ON UP. UM, ALSO THE HONOR CONCERT BAND, THE Sierra Cabazos and Alannis Calvert. The All Star Marching Band at the Indy 500 parade. That will take place next weekend and we have never had this many kids get accepted but it's by nomination. 16 of the kids were accepted and then 14 of them are are 15 of them are doing it. So we have Claire Cavazos, Josie Lopez, Akilia Flowers, Sophia Johnson Damon Sloan, Wyatt Stout Josiah Trueblood, Emily Bining. Is Emily here? I know the Bining children. Okay. Alannis Calvert, Ava Whitcomb, CHLOE WHITCOMB LILLIAN WOODALL, DEVONTE HUMPHREYS, Teagan Kendall and Meredith McNeal. I don't know if any of them are here. Then we get on to the State Solo and Ensemble. State

Solo and Ensemble, we had Xavian Walker, Brody Stall Alannis Calvert, Jacob Trueblood, Jordan Preston, Harrison Gerard, Anika Nutt, Corbin Carnes, Teagan Kendall, Claire Cavazos, AVA STACKHOUSE ALANNIS CALVERT, AKILIA Flowers and we have Josie Lopez, Ava again in a second event, Ava Stackhouse Zack Bining in another event Harrison Gerard, Anika Nutt and Teagan Kendall So I have for you guys just a little gift. Excuse me, sir. To get a free ice cream or slushy at Gold Medal Stadium. Nobody wants just a little certificate. This is actual gold right here. Worth something. And uh I want to do one last thing before we go. You guys can have a seat or or parents can picture with them. Come on. Yeah, come on up in the front. Then I have one last thing to do and then I

promise I'm done. Keep going, buddy. Keep going. 1 2 and 3. Okay, let's go. Okay, this last part is for you guys, for our school board. I wanted to do something special for you this year because this was such a special year and quite honestly, we don't do anything without your support. It really boils down to that. We we got to take a trip to Cleveland, you got to take a trip to New Orleans, to Disney. We're getting ready to take another trip to Disney and we already have 70 kids or 70 people going to that Disney trip as it is. And we just I'm pretty spoiled here because I don't hear the word no very often and I appreciate that, but I promise I do the best with what you tell me to do.

And so this year, our marching band show was called the red door and it was represented at the state level. Everybody saw our red door which coincidentally, the man who built it Where you at, Steve? Steve Stackhouse right back here. We had the best props, I felt like, of all the bands. Ours had mechanisms where we could change the door color and he figured all that out. We were on the phone literally together many, many times trying to figure out a system that worked and so but the red door was essentially a mysterious a mysterious thing that we wanted to figure out the entire time, but if you heard the words of uh "Mick Jagger" that he sees a red door and he wants it painted black. By the end of the show, all the

doors were black And it was just a really neat evolution, kept everybody intrigued. It was a really cool show. So, at the end of the season, everybody kind of does something special for state finals that you haven't done all year. We put 212 on the door. And some of the kids thought it was cheesy. I loved it. Mr. Gleason loved it. We thought it was awesome. So, what I did, and I have one for each of you guys, and I'm going to pass it out to you, but I got these red doors that are like this, and they say 212 on them. And I want you guys all to have one of these. Just put it wherever you want to. If you want to hang it on your Christmas tree, you can do that. But,

inside the box there's one of these for each of you. And I just want you to know that when you look at it, that we couldn't have gotten there without you. And I mean that. So, thank you very much. YEAH, GREAT JOB. >> CHANGE YOUR WHOLE BUSINESS UP. >> YEAH, COME ON. LET'S GO. >> I'LL get you signed up. All right. So, are you done with this? >> I'm good. >> We still have a couple more things. Anita Vining, will you please come to the front? All right. So, Anita is our teacher OF THE MONTH. I'M GOING TO READ SOMETHING THAT A colleague wrote about her, and then I want to add a little of my own, since I've known Anita for a really long time. Uh it says, "I'm writing to enthusiastically nominate Anita

Vining for Taylor High School's Teacher of the Month for May. Anita consistently demonstrates what it means to go above and beyond for our students, staff, and school community. Her willingness to step in and do whatever is asked, often without hesitation, sets her apart as a true team player. Whether it's covering classes, assisting with school events, supporting colleagues, or taking on additional responsibilities, Anita is always one of the first people to turn to when help is needed. She has become a dependable, go-to staff member, someone we can count on in any situation. Her positive attitude, flexibility, and strong work ethic contribute greatly to the culture of excellence we strive to build at Taylor High School. Anita doesn't just meet expectations, she exceeds them, consistently putting the needs of students and the school ahead of her own.

Beyond her reliability, Anita's dedication reflects genuine care for our school community. She models professionalism, commitment, and a servant leader mindset that inspires both students and colleagues alike. For her unwavering support, her willingness to serve wherever needed, and her consistent demonstration of what it means to be part of Titan Nation, I strongly believe Anita Bining is more than deserving of Teacher of the Month recognition for May. SO, BRING MORE, AND IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT THIS MONTH. Um I've known Anita for a long time. Uh we've taught together, and I've I've been her boss, whatever. But whenever we need a class picked up, a different math class covered, or whatever, we ask Anita, and she always says yes. Um I like people who live on the other side of yes. We say yes, and then we figure

out how we're going to do it. A couple years ago, we said, "Hey, Anita, how about uh doing drones?" She said, "Yes." And then she spent a summer figuring out how in the heck she was going to do drones. Today, I'm in a meeting, and the the lady says, "Hey, have you done the robotics grant?" It's due in 2 days. I send it to Anita, she's already working on it. This is what we get with Anita. She is a the ultimate team player, and she does whatever this school needs. So, we are so happy you're here, AND CONGRATULATIONS. AND YOU CAN'T SWIM IN THE AMAZON FOR A public school. >> Yeah. >> Or your cable. >> It was actually just the vaccines guy. >> Um I'm extremely humbled and grateful to be up here. Thank

you. The best words I can say is to quote the movie The Mummy Returns. Uh the title is attitude plus leadership. And I work for some of the absolute best people on the planet, and I'm just so grateful. >> You know, about what you've accomplished, too, is like trying to write something to say about you. I mean, what can you not say? I think every word applies to you in some way, somehow. You took the team from here to now back-to-back-to-back regionals. Going to Kettering League tomorrow, right after all this. But, as you get older in life, there's few people you can really count on. Um you know, it's just hard. You know, people get lost or confused in what they want to do or how they want to act or be tough. But, one

thing about it we kind of joke about it in my house, especially with my wife is I could ask Anita I need you to go to Chicago for me. Pick up a pizza from this place at this time at 1:00 in the morning, and just be back. She goes, "Okay, give me about 3 and 1/2 hours, and I'll be there." It's that without even picking up the phone. She's already, "Yep, how are we going to make this work?" We started She probably doesn't know this, but about 3 months now, she tries, I think, to beat me into work a little bit because she always comes on and asks, "What do I need for the day?" versus, you know, "What do you need?" And her thing is, "I don't get paid to have bad days." You

know, our kids already have bad days. I can't reflect bad days on them. Okay. But, I don't know if there's not a person that is more involved um you know, and I hope as your kids have grown up, they see just the impact of having to be at the school all the time, what goes involved. I know we can count on you for chaperone this, this, or this. If I if we called right now and said, "Hey, supervisor, can you go out to do this, this?" "Okay, I got my camping chair in the car, I'm ready to go." You know what I mean? Uh you know what's amazing when they start they have date nights at basketball games because that's you know, what I mean, all of that. But, someone that is just here and

just does it for a thousand of the right reasons, I just can't imagine what it would be if they did not have you. I don't know how my side of the building would function without your willingness to jump in, get kids involved, ask where I can help out. Uh we're working on our final schedules and I said, "Hey, you're going to have a little bit of a break." She said, "No, no, I'll help. What do you What do you need me to do?" I said, "No, you got rooms to break down, drums." She said, "No, what do you need?" Like, it's about everybody. So, I just you know, there's so much more I can say, but I know he's trying to get out of here fast, but I just don't know how we're at. And

my wife loves the memes every day. >> I just want to say something real quick. I know everyone's talked about her work ethic, what she does for our school, but if you ever have opportunity to be in Mrs. Findley's classroom, I want to talk about what she does instructionally for our students. And when we know what she does outside of school, but when you go into her classroom, students are engaged, students love what they're doing. When we talk about we are a PBL school, she embodies what project-based learning is. When you go in that classroom, students are actively always working. They know what's expected of them. They they're they I don't want to say they get on their peers, but she has created an environment in her classroom that is constructed for students to help

other students and to help correct other students and they do that without being judgemental of each other and that's the environment that she creates in her classroom for our students. And I think that is also from 7:30 to 2:46 that is just as impactful as what she does from 2:46 to 7:00 a.m. All right. So So we talked about everything from 2:46 to 7:00 a.m. But what she does in that time when she's here, when she's on the clock for us, is quite amazing, too. SO CONGRATULATIONS. >> I NEED TO GET ONE CALLED OVER HERE. FAMILY? PERFECT. Here we go. Two two things left. First of all, Mr. Gleason, if you will stand as the Principal of the Year for uh Region 5, District 5, 40 schools and all up there and he was the

Principal of THE YEAR FOR IT'S A IT'S A DONE DEAL IN NOVEMBER. HE'LL BE crowned the state principal. I feel it. Um if you go on to Facebook and you read the post, and I think that gives you uh the best snapshot of who Brandon is, all the people that he's affected and touched. And I think that's the best way to get that snapshot. But we are so thrilled that Brandon is our principal. And you know, all the good things. What's that? It comes with the work, but you can have it. >> I'll call a fog delay that day. >> Yeah, when I'm going to the conference, Brandon is the uh fog delay guy. So he gets that. >> No, no, no, no. Whitney is the queen that tells me, "Hey, you got to call

a fog delay." >> So, congrats, Brandon. >> Thank Thank you, everybody. You were great. Thank you. >> All right. Finally, this is Marsha. Marsha? I know SHE LOVES IT. YOU GOT TO SIT IN YOUR CHAIR. WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT? COME YES, come on up. It's going to be a great photo op. >> Get cozy. I like it. >> So, I don't I'm sure everybody here knows but Marsha is retiring in a few weeks. I think 2 weeks after graduation. And um I I don't even know what the school's going to be like without Marsha. I can't remember a time without Marsha. And when you're in certain roles, you learn that you lean on her. Um if you need a report, you need information, you call, and you turn around and it's laying on your

desk. I don't know how it happens, but she is so fast and so efficient. And work gets done perfectly. You always know you're going to get exactly what you asked for with Marsha. And um we are going to miss you. Uh >> I'm excited. We're we're training Melissa. I think she's going to be great, too. >> Yes. >> You got big shoes to fill. >> Oh, yeah. I know. >> How many years were you >> I was in the senior >> It's been 5 years. She came here 5 years ago as a 22-year-old. >> Retiring? >> How many years have you been here? >> Well, actually, I I subbed for 6 months. I was one of the trainer titans. >> Oh. >> So, then I got hired in in January of 2011 full-time. >> So,

full 26 years. >> 27 >> Was it Elizabeth in 2007? >> No, you were here in 2007. >> So, we're giving her back. We're giving her back to you. Oh, make it good to her. >> Thank you so much. >> So, Brandon, before 212 was ever a thing, this lady demonstrated >> Absolutely. >> day in and day out. I've seen it. I've heard about it. Of course, I see it at home what she does. She takes ownership in everything she does, and she's a perfectionist. So, she takes ownership of it. Like Mr. DeShawn said, it's going to be done to perfection. Sometimes that is a irritant to me, but >> It's not to us. >> Right. It's not to you. That's right. And I've seen you know, her I'm home and say I I we

need to go back to school cuz I've got this and this to do. Or we're coming on weekends cuz I got to get this done. Or I've got to do whatever. I've got to rearrange the guidance office. Typical love that one, right? Uh, so she'll drag me in here on the weekends to do it because this this is her home away from home. And she's loved working here. She's not a Taylor grad like I am or like my kids are. We we back in 1990 to Kokomo. we said we're going to take our kids to to Taylor. And uh she invited and uh she became a Taylor girl. And uh demonstrated that through the way she has uh led her life and and in particular her work life going forward. So, I don't know what

we're going to do with her at home now and she was Sean. I guess we'll figure that out as we go. >> Yeah. >> We did it for three. >> There you go. That's right. >> So, first year, what you doing? >> I want to go down to the beach. >> And he has your card. Do you pay forever card and get free all the games? >> No, I don't have it. She has. >> Oh, she already gave it to you? >> Yeah, already gave it to her. >> Speech. >> I feel like I should say Um thank you so much. This is a lot of memories are starting to happen here and I want to thank Tiffany for believing in me all these years and we've been like sisters and we've had our ups

and downs. We get frustrated and we kind of take it out on each other, but I knew that I could always count on her cuz she's been such a wonderful leader and I'll never forget when we were interviewing her and then >> Oh god. >> My interview. Let's not talk about that. >> I could just feel it. She had a heart for Taylor and I knew that we would work so well together side by side. And I want to thank Dennis. He's been my rock all these years and going through the death of my mom and you know, my dad just within weeks of playing and weeks just it's been very special to have him and to see all the leadership roles that he's had for Taylor. It's just amazing that he puts his heart

and soul into everything too here. And we'll always believe Taylor. Thank you so much for being here. THANK YOU SO MUCH. >> YOU GUYS FINISHED WITH THIS MEETING TODAY? WE'LL HAVE A LOT LOT MORE salt left in the parking lot. >> Beautiful. >> All right, I think Did you hear me, Mr. DeShawn? We'll have plenty more salt left this year for the parking lots now. I think her spot got got most of the salt. >> I want to hear that interview story later. Your reaction didn't match what you said. >> Yeah. That's what I mean. >> All right, clears away. Move on. All right, so I assume everybody's had a chance to look over the monthly financial reports. Check Check Renee out. Are we all good? All right, so there's no questions. Are we filed

so we can audit? Moving on to new business. Uh first one is consideration of the 2026-2027 teachers growth fund. I'll entertain a motion for that. >> I would move that we approve the consideration of the 2026 2026-2027 teachers growth plan as submitted. >> Second. >> Are there any questions? All in favor? >> I. >> Opposed? Passes 5-0. All right, so we'll move on. I'll entertain a motion for the consideration of new evaluation system for the school year '26-'27. >> I'll move that we approve the new evaluation system for the school year '26-'27. >> Second. >> Any questions? Those in favor? All right. All right. Opposed? Okay, passes 5-0. And then we'll see. I'll entertain a motion for the consideration of temporary SRO '25-'26, uh, Taylor Elementary summer school position. >> I'll make a motion for

the consideration of the temporary SRO for '25-'26 TVS summer school position. >> Second. >> Okay, any questions? Okay, those in favor? All right. Opposed? Okay, passes 5-0. And we'll move down. I'll entertain a motion for the consideration of facilities rental request for Copan Adult Soccer League. >> I'll move that we approve the facilities rental request for Copan Adult Soccer League. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? All right. Opposed? Okay, action. You're right on down right down the list here, Mr. >> It was a second. >> All right, I'll entertain a motion for the consideration of revision to the classified staff salary schedule. >> I'll move that we approve the revision to the classified staff salary schedule. >> Second. All in favor? >> I. Opposed? All right. Yes. I want to entertain a motion

for the consideration of administrative staff medical insurance revision. >> I move that we approve the administrative staff medical insurance revision as Second. >> Okay. All in favor? >> I. Opposed? Okay. That's unanimous 5-0. And G, I want to entertain a motion for the consideration and approval to transfer funds. >> I make the motion to be for consideration and approval to transfer funds. >> All in favor? >> I. Opposed? Passes 5-0. Okay. The next one I want to entertain a motion for the consideration of new STEM teacher certified position. >> I move that this be approved the new STEM teacher certified position. Second. >> Okay. All in favor? >> I. Opposed? Uh what do you do this year for the correct? >> I think you can do it together. >> Okay. All right. So, I want
