Since I don't see this pre-K kids in the morning I start down the hall a little farther than Mrs. Haynes. So, I'm going to read about

013Clara and and Mrs. Messer has written this about her. Clara is a sweet, kind, and respectful. She listens and follows directions and sets a good example. She has made excellent progress in pre-K this year because of her desire to learn. She is able to complete her assignments on her own and and with very little guidance. Mrs. Messer is very proud of her and she's been a pleasure to have in her class. And then, let's talk about this young man. You want to tell them your name? Tell them your name. Who are you? Javier. Javier. What's your last name? Javier Soto. Correcto, right? Okay. Javier is very kind and dependable and compassionate. He will go out of his way to help others. I can always count on him to make the right choice and put his

014good forth his best effort. He is an eager to learn and I love seeing him Mrs. Messer loves seeing his persistence in the classroom. Mrs. Messer is very proud of him for the progress he's made in pre-K and he's been a joy to have in her class. So, who came with you today? My mom. My mom and my sister. Your mom and your sister? WOULD YOU tell them your name, please? Adriana. What's your name? What's Adriana? It's my name. >> [laughter] >> She said she's really shy. Don't you Do you want me to tell them? I don't know. This This is Adelaide

015Coley and Adelaide is a very hard working student who is sweet and caring. She's very quiet but offers her answers in class often. She's a great reader and writer. Oh, maybe I have to have you come and help my class. And has made much growth this year. She sets a wonderful example for her classmates. She is kind, respectful, and responsible in the classroom. Who came with you today? Who Who is this? Mommy? Okay. GIVE [clears throat] HER A HAND. CARSON WOULD YOU SIT RIGHT HERE, PLEASE? WOULD YOU TELL me your name? Carson Carson who? Carson Bell Okay, let's see what Mrs. House has to say about you. Okay? Carson Bell is very hard working, conscientious student who always wants to please. He has made so much growth this year with his learning. He is a

016great reader and a writer. Ooh, I need to take both of you to my class. He always works hard for me and is always striving to do his best. He is a good friend to his classmates and attendance sets a good example for his friends. He is kind, respectful, and responsible in the classroom. And who came with you tonight? My dad. What's Can you little brother, right? Please give him a hand. >> Recognize our kids for their achievements in the classroom. So, you're all welcome to stay for the entire meeting if you like. However, if you'd like to step out tonight, it'd be a great time to do so. With the police department [laughter] for it. All right, since our last meeting, uh I've had a total of one calls for service, 10 13 meetings,

01710 hours of training. Um one report was taken that was forwarded to juvenile probation in Jasper County. Besides that, the hallway signs that we had ordered to identify hallways, red hallway, [snorts] green hallway, whatever, those have not only been ordered, but they have arrived. I'll be working with Mr. Bell and his team here shortly to get those in place. A quote was accepted from the graphics company that we had chosen to do the window coverings on all three schools. Once again, that'll be a summer project. We're moving along with that. >> [snorts] >> Uh I assisted both Shawn Garrett, who's the head of our custodial staff, as well as Mr. Bell, um with trying to get make sure we were in compliance with fire marshal before he came back. I don't speak for Mr. Bell,

018but um I was advised that we passed with flying colors. It sounds like we got everything whipped into shape in a very short a of time, which is which is great. More towards them than me. I was kind of helping them, it. but still being able to go out and make sure Uh we made that down with the staff also helped tremendously being in their own That's right. Our own rooms and orders is a great [clears throat] thing. I had a webinar with a a group that um we were going to go with. It's called the Critical Response Group. What they do is they do digital mapping. Uh it's a veteran-owned company run by a bunch of former military operators. Not only is that going to feed into our Raptor system with that being able

019to map out our properties and our schools for emergency situation, but these can also be used for um our hazards weather evacuations [snorts] and shelters, fire drills, and if in case we were to have a fire evacuation evacuation routes. Uh this this company also not only does it coincide with Raptor, but also coincide with um the >> [clears throat] >> I guess you could say the company that we use for all of our video cameras. And [snorts] they also all of that will play into the passes and the swipes with White County having to notify the dispatch. So, very great company. Lots that offered through them. >> [clears throat and cough] >> Speaking of Raptor, uh they will start installation of our stuff in all three schools starting on July 6th. They will be there

020approximately a week. Towards the end of the week they'll be working with IT to make sure everything is working and is all correctly. Nothing will be working. In order color coded lanyards to go with the actual IDs that everyone has to wear for Raptor. The reason So, the dispatch call um not to segregate anybody or make anybody feel like their color means anything different, but in an emergency situation be able to quickly identify people or people in an event or we have an outside church or whatever people in the event are in our facility it's easy to point out, "Hey, if you have a medical emergency look for the person who's wearing this colored vest. Or if you see a spill or something needs to be cleaned up, look for the person wearing this colored

021vest. This will be easier [laughter] for people who are not familiar with our medical staff. Also, I was also asked to join the White County LEPC, which is um the local emergency planning committee. I will be doing that representing Tri-County and this side of the county in that aspect with White County emergency management. Also, I've been working with the admin team as well as Mr. Cole with trying to redesign and figure out a better way we can do visitor entrance and exit as well as school bus entrance and exit and drop-off and pick-up at the high school so that it will just flow better, be less congested, and allow people to be more comfortable coming and going whether it be on foot or in vehicles. Uh outside of that, I believe that's all I had.

022Let me know if you guys have any Questions? No, I'm good. Appreciate the effort. Okay. I need to backtrack on this. The visitor Were there any visitor comments on the agenda items? No, there were not. On the agenda? Oh, sorry. Okay. All right. Uh okay, now I'm going to start something new. Uh since we last met, the flooring has been put in at both the backpack and the bus barn. Uh they needed to have people off of that for a while while while it sat up and cured, but since then they've been in there working on the inside of both of those structures. Uh the goal still is end of June completion, so making steady progress on that. And then also in your board packet, you have the construction affidavits. Um I give those to

023you every month, but I do want to point out three of those. Uh number 118 uh is access controls. We talked recently about updating our access controls. Currently, we have a fob system, um which those key fobs are are getting old, the system is getting old and antiquated, so we're updating that system and we'll be putting that in over the summer, which will include if a door is propped open for an extended period of time, our administrators will get a notice that those doors have been propped open so we can address that. Are they still using the fob [clears throat] or No, it'll be your on the phones. Okay. Now, we have a fob available if somebody wanted to do that, but going to a phone for your your fob or your key. Uh, number

024120 is a TCI water softener. Mr. Bell has worked hard on all the water softeners. Um, TCI was it's the same water softener where they came in and re-bedded it and and did some things. The TCP water softener was replaced, it was upgraded to fit the building and so we got that done. And then 121 is audio sound equipment. Um, when we redid the auditorium, we did not redo the soundboard and now that's been four years ago that we've redid the auditorium. The soundboard is at end of life. Basically, if something were to go wrong with the soundboard, nobody's going to come in and replace it. So, using some construction dollars, Mr. Stirk did get some quotes, felt comfortable about what he was getting. He wanted some wireless mics. The microphones that now hang down

025on the auditorium stage, those will be removed and so we decided to move forward with that using some construction dollars. So, trying to get some of these projects done that have probably been I don't want to say wish list items, just things that have been put off that we can try to get done now with some contingency money. So, wanted to point that out to you. So, I have for construction. >> [snorts] >> Okay, any board committee reports? Uh, the high school school improvement team met here last month. Um, there was some good discussion around how schedules were >> [snorts] >> working and everything. They worked through that. The biggest discussion that kind of hit closest to home and really hit the board is the cell phone policy and how it works. Trying to work

026through that. I had to get the stuff ready. The other business >> [snorts] >> that we got So, okay. Let's vote it first. You have any questions for No, we do not. Okay. Um this is Christian. >> [clears throat] >> So, on April 24th, we celebrated community day. So, some of our teachers had chosen to Their students wrote notes to um community members and just went out on the monitor. [snorts] So, this morning a gentleman came and he said he really appreciated the class stopping by. And so, [clears throat] he had heard that they watched our students do lunch. So, he actually bought all of them a challenge coin and gave out payments to the class cuz he said he appreciated that they stopped and that they thought of him. So, I thought that was

027a really neat experience um for the community. Um let's see. Oh, PTO, I would like to thank them for donating the snacks to our students during the week of ILEARN. We have some students that Sometimes the the munching just helps them get through the test or sometimes they get hungry depending on when their their testing is. Um so, they don't have breakfast and choose to not eat at school. So, we We appreciate that PTO donates snacks um for our students during ILEARN. They also provided a lot of treats to our for our staff during teacher appreciation last week and the teachers greatly appreciated that as well. So, I want to take time to thank them. Um and last Thursday, our sixth grade went on a visit to the junior senior high school. So, we would

028like to thank the high school um staff for putting all that together. Mr. Haskins and Mr. McCracken for allowing us to do that. It's uh helps ease out some of that anxiety for our sixth graders that are going up there. They can only see the building and get a few questions answered and then they'll have an additional day in August 27th is when we camp out. So, that'll be another time they can go practice their block combinations and things like that. Um, this last week we celebrated Administrative Assistants Day here at the state anti-discrimination. So, I would like to just take the opportunity to thank everybody in the building for all their hard work for this school year so far. It definitely takes a team to make sure that all of our students are well

029cared for and I appreciate all their hard [snorts] work. Um, we're in the middle of taking I-Read opportunity two. So, we started that today and we'll finish that tomorrow. And then tomorrow our fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students, that whole fifth grade team will be going to the junior high senior high school to compete in that. Um, so again, we would like to thank the custodians, um, staff out there, Mr. Crocker, Mr. Hasson, and Mr. Sturt for making all that possible for our students. May 13th, we have Field Day. So, I would like to thank Mrs. Lovell, Mrs. Tyler, and high school students because they come and run that event for our students and our students have a wonderful time. Um, [clears throat] on May 14th, our students um, participated in a reading challenge. So,

030each grade level had a benchmark um, that the students would meet and based off of how many books they read and could provide a quick synopsis [snorts] of what the book was about to prove that they actually had read it. Um, they got to go to Malibu Jack's. So, they'll be doing that on the 14th. And then May 15th, our third grade students will be going to the Columbia Park Zoo in Lockport where they will they've been learning about animal adaptations. So, they'll get to um, see the different animals and discuss what the animals are like and why they why they are and things like that. So, it's a neat way to tie that up for them. On May 18th, we will have instrument testing for our fifth grade students who are choosing to either

031go to band or choir. So, we thank Mr. Shirk for setting that up for us. >> [snorts] >> Um May 19th, we have the second grade is coming over to visit. Um that again helps them kind of smooth that transition for them. And our local libraries are going to sit in with them and will come that day and talk with our kids about the summer reading program and hopefully get them involved in those. Um May 20th, we have fourth grade is going to do gardening glove. So, that's exciting for our our students to use and adapt their campus. We absolutely appreciate them. And um Mr. Seegmiller is going to bring the ambulance to GCI on that day as well so that our students can um see the ambulance and get to ask them some questions.

032On May 21st, is our fifth grade. They're going to do their annual cookout. And then the 22nd is um when we're going to do our awards for the um third third through fifth will be in the morning and then sixth grade will be in the afternoon. A lot going on. There's a lot going on. Yeah, we're going to be busy this month. Yeah. Okay. Mr. Pratt. I do not have anything to add. Um I first of all want to congratulate the fine arts program on their spring program, both band and choir. Last Wednesday, the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders both band and choir had their concert in the gym. And you know, it's really it's neat to see the improvement those kids make from the fall concerts and Christmas concerts to see them come back

033in the spring and perform again. But what was probably even more enjoyable was Saturday night, um the high school band and choir [cough] in the auditorium. And even though our numbers aren't what we want them to be, and [snorts] there's there's it's not because of the effort, it's not because of the hard work of Mr. Underwood and Mr. Shirk. It's just sometimes scheduling, kids aren't able to get everything they want to get in for their schedule, but we have we have some highly highly highly talented kids in the band and in the choir. It's just really really fun night to see um just watch. It was just a great night. So, congratulations to fine arts program and that's 6 through 12 and and all the efforts that have been Mr. and Mr. Sherk making those

034kids It's It's really neat. Um I learn >> [laughter] >> I learn testing as of today is completely done. Calculus CP testing today. We finished up Ilearn last Thursday, so the testing is done. Um this Thursday or Friday, we'll have a celebration luncheon. Um after that, they come out for a program and just kind of it's a way to celebrate them. Uh more of a celebration going into high school than it is maybe leaving middle school. So, it's a fun day for our kids and appreciate Mrs. Raven's efforts on that. Um we start finals the week from tomorrow. We have a purple day next Monday and we're [snorts] all of our teachers get to see all of our kids. Just maybe one last time before finals start. We have two finals a day. Um it

035goes through the end of next week. >> [laughter] >> Um senior walk is next is that is that last day last day of school on Tuesday the 26th. I think it is. We're doing our >> [snorts] >> senior walk. Seniors are getting all their stuff done. Practicing graduation cookout and senior walk on Tuesday right after Memorial Day. Um congratulations to the FFA soils judging team. They finished sixth in the national land judging contest in Oklahoma last Thursday. And then what they were going on last week with their last year of their competition. Members were Madison Spencer, Elsa Aldaz, Copilot Jefferson Morales. So, I know that was a great experience for those kids. Thanks to Mr. Share. Thanks to Mr. and Mr. for escorting and sheltering those kids up to as Mr. mentioned we're really looking

036forward to having our sixth graders and seventh graders come out in August. They come out just for a quick moment last Thursday >> [cough] >> to see parts of the building. Some of those kids haven't been into and we got a chance to see some of the teachers that they just don't know yet besides Mr. and Mr. We will also have Camp Cavalier Friday August 7th which is the Friday before we start school so they'll have another chance to come out and look at their lockers but it was exciting because it it seems like a great group of kids. [snorts] Looking forward to having them and we had a great Q&A with a group of seventh graders. We were talking to [clears throat] the sixth graders about what they wish they would have known before

037they came out and we used the I think we used the parents some of them with their lockers and the five minutes of locker to get to a class. We talked about a lot of good things. It was a good day so Mr. thank you for allowing that and looking forward to that group. We got a group of seniors that will start their last week of classes today. Finals next week. I I just want to give them a chance to wish that group well. We have two of them in here tonight with us. It's a very focused group. We have several that have been already accepted in college. We have several that have through internships or having a chance to get out directly in the workforce. We have one young lady who's well really two

038young ladies who are talking about military. We have two of our students that passed the electrical apprenticeship testing and both of them have interviews this week. Union reps in Lafayette so it's really neat to see this group and have the diversity diversification of this group and the plans and and the one thing I remember when I first got here we had too many kids that said we didn't know what they wanted to do. And we're just at a time where they they got to have some idea what they want to do. So, um it's a good group. Um it's a highly [snorts] driven group and and and we just wish them well in the next 2 weeks here and then going into, you know, the end of the month when they graduate. Just it's it's

039been good to see and we wish them the best. Senior celebration, mark your calendars. Graduation is May 29th. It's a Friday and a reminder of the graduation is the 31st at 2:00 p.m. Baccalaureate starts at 12:30. Anybody that wants to come to that can come to the auditorium. And lastly, I have is good luck to our spring sports cuz things are kind of starting to wind down. >> [snorts] >> Um Wednesday, tomorrow, the girls track sectional is in Lockport. Friday night, our girls finished second in the Midwest Conference. So, congratulations to our girls. Uh boys track sectional is a week from this Thursday, the 21st. They finished third in the Midwest Conference. You know, what I said back in the year earlier, one he won pole vault, >> [clears throat] >> pole vault. That's the

040message message that I sent in front of you guys. Won two events. So, it was it was a great night for both boys and girls. It was a beautiful night to run. Softball sectional starts on Memorial Day. Our [snorts] girls don't play till the 26th. That would be the Tuesday after Memorial Day. Baseball sectional starts on the 27th, which is the Wednesday after Memorial [snorts] Day. Our boys don't play till the 28th. And boys golf sectional is on June 5th, which is a Friday. So, uh again, wishing the best to all of our all of our athletes and we hope they have a >> [laughter] >> great spring and weather and everything. >> [clears throat] >> A lot of success. Like like kids do in sports, so we wish wishing them the best here toward

041the end of the month and in June. >> [clears throat] >> Any questions? No. On the uh the sectionals for um softball Yes. and baseball. I think it's baseball at Hampton. >> Baseball here. Softballs at North flight. Okay. Track at Harrison. The other item, I mean, the FFA getting sixth in the nation, correct? With soils? Yes. Are we getting some word out in the in the press on that? We Well, we posted something on Facebook and we can get I don't know if we can get something more out. I'd love to see that in the papers and everything. I mean, that's that's big time. Sixth in the nation. Yeah, that's good. Thank you. You said the electricals for vacation, two kids got it. What What class did they get that in? Well, they they just

042they interviewed, they took their apprenticeship test with the mafia. And you have to pass that. And once you pass that, then you interview with the union. Okay, so they gave you Okay, it wasn't certain. Yes. >> [snorts] >> That's a big deal, I mean, for a kid. 18-year-old kid to pass apprenticeship tests and have, you know, got the person, that's what he did last year. And then, you know, that boy is going to get an interview with you know, adults who are 25, 26 years old. Um chance to get something to possibly get a foot in the door. And there's other opportunities around the local that they don't have to use in that way. So, it again, that's that's a that's a big deal for those two young men that are doing so. Any questions?

043Okay. Moving on to old Then we have the 2026 board committee reassignments. Uh we have some positions that need to be filled. Um and now is the time to start wheeling and dealing. So, Mr. Board was Well, negotiations we don't have to do right now. Correct. So, we'll probably just leave that at two board For right now, yep. And then, he indicated maybe stepping into all the other opening positions. So, the technology AI committee, TCI school improvement plan. Uh the president of the board of finance, congratulations. And then high ability, perfect. Everybody else will remain the same. And then at the January 2027 organizational meeting, we'll review those again, so. So, technology AI thing, did you think of that or did you just >> [laughter] >> Okay, new business. Under personnel reports, we have four

044resignations. Uh Mrs. Amanda Alberts, uh Ms. Britney Hearn, Mr. Steve Schermerhorn, and Mrs. Ms. Molly Mosier. Uh wish those four the best of luck on all their future endeavors. Uh we do have a two employment, actually excuse me. We have four employment recommendations. Uh one is for Kylie Hickner as the work-based learning instructor uh for 120 days. Uh Molly Mosier doing the junior senior high school uh summer school. And then uh Jenny Bryant and Tammy Justice doing summer school for TCI and TCP. Um state law changed last year uh for students that did not pass IREAD 3 at grades 2 and grade 3, remediation has to be offered. Uh for students at grade 2, it's not a requirement um to have summer school, it is a requirement to offer. So, Mrs. Bryant will be doing

045the TCP grade 2 remediation, and then Mrs. Justice will be doing the TCI grade 3 and 4 remediation. Uh keep in mind that students that did not pass the IREAD 3, uh they do have other opportunities, but part of that is the requirement that they do need to attend summer school. Um for a and then they'll have an opportunity to take the IREAD 3 again this summer. Um if they would if the [clears throat] student is eligible for a good cause exemption, they need to come to summer school. So, Uh summer school will start June 1st um and will last up to 16 days. Um we do summer school Monday through Thursday, no Friday classes, and then uh we will conclude that fourth week of June. Um some of our younger kids, our TCP kids,

046may only go for a shorter period of time. Uh TCI students, they go for a little bit longer and then have an opportunity for that test. So, with that lastly, uh transfer uh Nason Lampier, who was at the junior senior high school as a part-time nurse, she was uh working back and forth with Shera Arvin um has requested a transfer to the TCP nursing position uh replacing the retiring Mrs. Ernie. So, that's all I have under the personnel reports. >> [snorts] >> And I have a motion to accept the personnel reports. Second. It's been moved and uh seconded. Mr. Dustin. If there are no further questions, all those in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed? Abstentions? Mr. Escheman. For 2026-2027 uh school year, we have the intent to rehire list. Uh by approving this, uh the

047board is providing assurance to those support staff members that they will be eligible to return to employment next school year. Uh principals have looked at this uh list um and provided updates. And then our corporation staff has provided any updates to anybody that is uh maybe already turned in a resignation or has left midyear, uh form is or that list has been updated. So, I make that recommendation to approve that list as presented. >> [snorts] >> I have a motion to approve the intent to rehire. Second. It's been moved and uh seconded to accept that. Any discussion? If there are none, all those in favor say "Aye." Aye. [clears throat] Opposed? Motion passes 7-0. Next is the first reading of a school property usage and license agreement policy. Used to call this a building use

048form. Worked with Lewis Kappes on updating this form. Officer Page and I have looked at this form and and we determined in the fall that this needed to be updated. We just felt like there were some some things that were missing that we asked Lewis Kappes to help us with. For example, under the additional usage and terms and expenses, item C, parties agree to have a law enforcement officer on duty at all times during the use of school property or for any school property use or event anticipating 100 or more attendees. It is the school's judgment to determine if a law enforcement officer is needed, but we felt like we needed to provide some some more clarity on when a law enforcement officer is needed. We also wanted to put in there some specifics on

049what the rate is going to be for Officer Page or any other law enforcement officers that are working security for the events. This is just something that last time this policy was revised it was about 4 years ago. We just Officer Page and I felt like it was probably a good time just to go through it updates. So Joe Larimer who did a board retreat for us a couple years ago, he worked with us from Lewis Kappes to get this updated. So I presented to the board for a first reading. No action needs to be taken. However, if there are any questions, I'd be happy to entertain those at this time. >> [clears throat] >> Hearing none, the next action item is our yellow bus driver daily rate approval. We've talked about as a board

050for several months now uh something for yellow bus drivers. So, the recommendation is for a two-tiered approach. Um currently, we offer our bus drivers um under 5 years of experience 105.87 daily rate. And then if you have 5 years and above, 108.82. Um the recommendation would be to move that 0 to 5 years of experience to 125. And then if you have 5 plus years of experience to 132 dollars a day. And this would be effective for the 2026-2027 school year. Is there a motion to approve the daily rate change? Mr. Preston. A second. Second. Mr. Herring and Mr. Morris. Any discussion? Okay, hearing none, all those in favor say aye. Aye. >> [clears throat] >> Opposed? >> [cough] >> Abstention? Motion passes 7-0. We have five overnight and out-of-state field trip requests. The first

051one is for Camp Tecumseh from our sixth grade uh next fall, October 15th through the 16th. Uh FFA has a trip in August to West Virginia. Um girls basketball team in June would like to go to D1 camp at Purdue Northwest. Um the FFA convention is now moved to Noblesville uh at least for next year. Um and then the officer team has your annual retreat uh the 14th through the 15th in Pine Village. So, make the recommendation to approve those field trips as presented. Is there a motion [snorts] to approve all those field trips? Mr. Preston, any questions? Mr. Herring, can you second that? Yes. Any discussion? Okay, hearing none, all those in favor say aye. Aye. >> [clears throat] >> Opposed? Motion passes 7-0. And the last action item under new business, the Wolcott

052Public Library has an appointment. Uh the recommendation is for Bryce Cook to uh finish the term of 3 years and 1 month uh replacing Mr. Mark Morse. So, I make that recommendation to approve that recommend I recommend that to be approved as presented. >> [laughter] [snorts] >> Okay, all those in favor say I. I. Opposed? Abstentions? Motion passed 7-0. Okay, on to financials. On your financials, um the education operations transfer report is in there. Um you can see um fifth less than 15% was transferred from the education fund to the operations fund uh this month. It was $80,869.74 was transferred. Um also, if you look at your fund report, uh I do uh want to highlight um fund 0800 0 or school lunch fund. Um you can see there that it is a negative $10,909.83.

053Uh as you can may recall, uh we partnered with NISAC uh the Northern Indiana Education Service Center uh when Mrs. France had her accident in November. Uh we were looking for a food service director, so we partnered with them. Um one of the things that I've asked uh NISAC to do is give us a financial breakdown uh to figure out um where maybe we are uh gaining money, but where where we maybe losing money. So, they'll give us a breakdown um showing us um as much detail that we requested as far as um how much each meal costs at each of the buildings, uh how much um you know, our staffing costs and those types of things so we can make some adjustments to try to get that fund out of the the negatives and

054into the positives. So, if you're looking at that, the other problem, and I will say problem, the other issue that we are encountering is prepaid food. Um, that is negative right now, $7,439.15. Um, prepaid food is basically the amount of money kids have in their account total versus how much is owed on their account. And so we are upside down in that one, so our secretaries have been working hard trying to send some letters home to parents, trying to get those negative balances paid off as quickly as possible so we can turn that ship around. So, um, not the not the news we want when you see a negative on your fund report, but there are some things in place here and so we can start tackling that as much as possible. Um, the other

055funds there you could see education fund, referendum debt service, operations and rainy day. We talked about at the last or at our board retreat having some financial goals. So, we do have a goal in our rainy day fund trying to do 12% of our overall levy. So, we're we're trying to right now we're right at [snorts] that 12% mark. So, that is why we keep some of our money in the rainy day fund because we do have a financial goal. We also have a financial goal in the referendum to maintain a one-year cash balance in there. Looking forward to the future, if we re-ran the referendum and it did not pass, we would have a one-year operating balance in there so we could make those decisions on what we're going to do in that following

056subsequent year. And then with the operations fund, we're continuing to monitor that now that we've got some pay raises for our bus drivers, trying to determine the best goals that we could set for operations, try to set some financial goals there. Keeping in mind that we do have bus bids that are currently open. They are due May 29th. We had a Mr. LeBeau and I, Mrs. Cain, had a meeting. We had five interested parties on bidding on routes that were left from when Mr. Mr. Dilling passed away. So, we gave them until May 29th to get those bids in with the anticipation of bringing that to the board at the June board meeting. So. >> [snorts] >> And then you have your payroll register for April and May, April 24th and May 8th. And then

057you have the the docket in there. I do not have anything specific to point out in the docket. However, if there are any questions, I'll do my best to answer those at this time. >> [snorts] [clears throat] [snorts] >> Okay. We have a motion to accept the clean stopping payroll ratification. So Good. Mr. Flores Mr. Sugars Any discussion? Any Hearing none, all those in favor say I. I. Opposed? Abstentions? Motion passes 7-0. Okay, Superintendent's report. Yeah, I have several things. First, the IHSA recently did a survey of athletic directors in Indiana trying to get some data on that role, that position, and that is in your board packet. Um where they had 385 of the 406 member schools answer some questions about the role, the expectations, so on and so forth. So, I think 385

058out of 406 is a pretty good representation of how ADs across the state are are are doing, feeling. They talked about the hours a a week. The average AD works 64 hours per week. Um and then talking about some of the other issues or concerns facing this this tough position. I'm putting that out there cuz we had talked about reconfiguring our athletic director and transportation roles. So, Mr. Rabo and I are working on bringing a proposal to the board perhaps as soon as next month. Also [snorts] in your packet, and Officer Page alluded to this earlier, there is a um design for a layout for the front of the high school, the drop-off and pick pick-up. Um this is just a conceptual drawing. Mr. Haskins, Mr. Bell, Officer Page, and I have been working with

059Gibraltar. Um really the the issue is just trying to make the drop-off and pick-up safer. Um so, um looking at perhaps um reconfiguring and and and I'm going to say creating a roundabout where drivers could come in there and putting a sidewalk around that whole area where the flagpole is and trying to get more parking in there to make that little area safer. I know it [snorts] is hard to see, but they would put some bollards in there in front of the building. Um and then creating an area where our buses for arrival and dismissal would come into that east entrance, come around that access road, and come to the front of the school, and then and then exit back out. And then making the uh student arrival and dismissal just that west entrance there.

060Um this once again is a conceptual drawing. Um Skilman did give us an approximate number uh for this project. Um keep in mind this is just an approximation. Um they said about $500,000 to get this done. Um so, it is a salty um uh idea. Um however, uh we've talked uh for the last several months. Um we know that our current setup is just not safe. Um I as a parent was out there Friday afternoon, and I was about to the highway waiting to to come through and and pick up. So, um we just we needed to try to do something to improve the flow. Um but we're continuing to work on it with Gibraltar, with Skilman, uh to try to figure out the best way to improve that. Um this is probably the most

061advanced uh because they're talking about reconfiguring that whole island, uh kind of lining it up with the front door a little bit. Uh right now our current setup is it's offset, and and we may work within those parameters to get that to work, but Officer Page, Mr. Askins, any questions or or any comments about that reconfiguration? Uh my only thing is I know the [snorts] price they showed us also includes refinishing the entire front parking lot. Yes, thank you. Um cuz that's being done as well. So, it's not just the the school [snorts] entrance area. Uh and like Mr. Cole said, the design that is on the drawing is a lot safer for everyone. Whether it be students coming people trying to get across to get their cars. Um what we have now has become

062just it's it's a nightmare. Or it can be a nightmare. Um now add weather on top of that where you have people trying to run in between cars with ice and snow and or wet. Sometimes adds to it. That's the one thing that I wanted to add. This is the This is the second version, I think, isn't it? Yes, sir. That's correct. Cuz the first one was and this this was some definite modifications to that or Yes. The first one was just a sidewalk on one side and they suggested having someone that would go out every morning and every afternoon and line cones. And when we looked at that from a logistical standpoint, um it would be almost impossible. This is called So, that wasn't my bad one. So, Good. He said refreshing the parking

063lot. So, that's in both students and the staff side again. >> Yeah. And those are due for a resurfacing um this summer, but that would be wrapped up into this project if we wanted to proceed with that. So, um there is some contingency money still left if we wanted to do that. However, um they did indicate that probably won't be able to do it this summer. Most of these guys their job their playlist is full, but uh we can get in get in line and try to get that done. So, just something to continue to think about as we move through this um process. Um if you're a board member and you want to come see drop-off and pick-up, please don't cuz we don't need them extra cars out [laughter] there. Just just trust us.

064Um it is it is um this is more people continue to drive and and kids don't ride the bus. Um it's just created it's just a lot of cars in there. So, Time frame, what would you think then? Hopefully the following summer? Um they didn't really indicate. They just said they wanted me to be clear with you that even if we said yes, that they're not it's just probably not going to get done. So, um just something to be aware of. Um Officer Paige uh have a contract with the school corporation um um and I I put that in there for review and consideration. Um, there's some things um we need to get his contract back on the agenda um for next month. Um, my recommendation is we use the school safety grant uh to

065pay for his salary. Um, just something to I just want to put it in front of you so you can remember um where we're at. So, next month when we bring that back to the table um we have some pointed reference. Also in your board packet, I I referenced the uh the meal lunch uh the lunch account earlier. Um Nisec has provided us some data on the amount of kids that are eating across the corporation eating both breakfast and lunch. Um keep in mind as you go through some of these numbers don't seem consistent. Um, there may be days where, you know, we get regularly into the 150s and then all of a sudden you see uh a day that goes down to 112. Um, that may be because a group has gone on a

066field trip. So, there may be a whole grade that's not even there that day. So, it's probably not that big of a fluctuation. However, I will say like at TCI um 150 would be a day that we would rarely get to. If we served 150 lunches, that was a pretty uh busy day. And if you start looking at through March April and May, uh we're consistently at that 150 uh even up into the 160s occasionally. So, um I think some of the menu options have helped uh with that. Um, lunches at TCP a similar thing. Um, the days they go up and then if you see like a a drastic drop, just keep in mind chances are if there's a 60 student drop from one day to the next um there's a a group that

067was probably on a field trip that day. So, it wasn't that what we served that day was just that that awful. It's just there's a group that wasn't there. Uh and then the junior senior high school, uh you can see their participation since the beginning of the calendar year. So, NISIC is tracking this data to try to give us some references on breakfast and lunch. And then they obviously use that what is being what's a big hit food wise, what's some things that we need to maybe reconsider. Last thing is Coach Coker came to talk to Mr. Lebo and I about the classification of cross country. In your board packet is a social media um nine slides that this group of coaches have put together that includes facts about the importance of making cross country

068a class sport. This is starting to I would say starting continuing to gain momentum. Now more coaches across the state are looking at um classing cross country. The focus is really just turned to to cross country now. Coach Coker came in and talked to Mr. Lebo and I for about 45 minutes. We know his passion for getting this done. And he asked me to share these slides with the school board. And also asked that share this information with as many people as you come across. Sometimes that may be at a cross country meet, at a track meet, at even a baseball game. I'm just raising awareness to having a class system in cross country. The slides were were very well done. There's just a lot of interesting facts. And I even told Coach Coker they're

069eye-opening to me. So, the way this is laid out is been very good. They continue to talk to the IHSA about the need to do this. And it it may take just a grassroots effort of all of us talking to people as the time comes about the importance of providing class to cross country. So, that is all I have in my report. >> [snorts] >> So, poker has come in and talked to the board in the past about this. Passionate about it. I'm pinning the spot on. This This should have been done a long time ago. And I'll throw in track and wrestling right with it. It's just you know, it's just I can't quite figure out the IHSA slower than molasses in January. Oh, and yet now they're talking about uh NIL in high

070school sports. Which I'm not for in in college yet to boot and so now we want to pay pay high school kids. Personal opinion, but there needs to be a shakeup in some of the uh uh uh board and some of the the people at IHSA and what what their thinking is or um you know, some of the things they're doing or not doing. I'm all I'm all for this. >> [snorts] >> Okay, we have any visitor comments? Okay. Very good. Uh board member comments? Okay. Go for it. >> [clears throat] >> So, we've got a couple seniors here tonight. First meeting that you've been to a public meeting or or been to other meetings? Okay. You kind of saw the process we go through. And um there wasn't a whole lot of debate on

071things. We don't maybe debate too much on milk bids or things like that, you know. But there are times though when it may not be 7-0. And it may be a difference and we have some good dialogue and that's why you have seven board members and to have different opinions and that's healthy and that's good. So, um just a little observation on how public meetings run and I'm hoping someday that as you get established or wherever, hopefully be here, but if not, wherever it's at, think about giving back to the community, too. Because it it it is a blessing. It really is. It's a blessing to serve. Um the other thing I'm going to say is you got a couple weeks yet. And uh just finals are coming up. Finish strong. And just wish you

072the best in the future. Be safe, okay? Thank you. Yeah. Any other board member comments? If not, I'll entertain a motion to adjourn. Yeah, motion. Got a second? Is it seconded? No. All those in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed? No votes. Motion passes. Meeting adjourned.
