001Yiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Got a couple things before we officially get the meeting started. So, first we'd like to welcome Mr. Mark Forest for a new board member for the board. So, with Dr. decided in the middle of a term we have to take applications from interested people and we had three great people apply for that and then we do interviews and so forth is here with us and he'll fulfill Dr. um her term which there's two years left on it. So it's not a fouryear term elected but uh so we'll fulfill the rest of that term period. So >> welcome. >> Thank you. >> And then next um
002there's a letter that we'd like to read that the entire school board has put together and formulate and is going to read that for us right now. The Tri County School Board remains committed to supporting our students, staff, and families while providing a high quality educational experience for all throughout the school year. A great deal of information has been shared on social media regarding our volleyball program. While platforms like Facebook can help stay connected, they do not always provide complete or accurate information. We understand that this situation has raised questions and concerns and we acknowledge that our communication could have been clearer at times. Please know that any decisions made were done thoughtfully and always with the best interest of our students and staff in mind. To provide some clarity, the decision that the former
003volleyball coach would not return was made on November 3rd, 2025. On multiple occasions, the Tri County School Board has upheld this decision. The school board remains committed to being as transparent as possible while also respecting the boundaries required in personnel matters. As part of our review, the board has taken time to listen carefully by meeting with parents, players, coaches, and others connected to the situation. Additionally, the school board has cooperated fully with all law enforcement agencies throughout this process. We have also worked closely with the Department of Child Services following a review initiated by parents in January after the volleyball season had concluded. All law enforcement agencies in the Department of Child Services have found no laws were broken, no evidence of abuse, and no findings. At each step, we have made every effort to
004cooperate fully and respectfully with all agencies involved. Through this experience, we have also identified opportunities to grow. We have strengthened our existing code of conduct for coaches, which is now in place for our spring athletic programs, and we have made improvements to our hiring and onboarding practices to better support our staff and students moving forward. It may also be helpful to clarify the role of the school board. The board is responsible for setting policy, providing governance, and ensuring the long-term success and stability of the school corporation. The dayto-day operations of the schools are managed by the superintendent and the administrative team. When concerns are brought forward, the board works carefully and thoughtfully within its governance role to support fair student focused decisions while respecting legal and personnel confidentiality. On behalf of the Tri County School
005Board, we respectfully ask for the continued support of our community. Support can take many forms and during this time one of the most meaningful ways to show that support is by helping us maintain a respectful and student centered environment. We truly value our community and appreciate your partnership in ensuring that Tri County remains a positive and supportive place for everyone. We recognize that situations like this can be challenging for a community. Our focus remains on learning, improving, and continuing to support one another. As always, community members are welcome to contact Mr. Cul to schedule a meeting to discuss the volleyball program and related events. We are grateful for your continued trust, partnership, and commitment to Tri County and to the success of our students. >> Thank you. With that, Mr. Hope we have any additions
006or deletions to the agenda. >> There not a motion to accept the agenda. Second, Mr. Gerber. All those in favor say I. Motion passes. Uh we're in the we have the approval of our minutes of the regular meeting and executive session from March 9th. So we have a motion to accept those minutes. that motion second that one. Any discussion hearing? None. All those in favor say I. >> I opposed. >> Abstain. >> I just passion. >> Okay. On to the students of the month. First, good evening everyone. Junior high students of the month, April 2026. McKenzie, can you come up here please? And uh Kelly, can you come up here, please? I said that right. Mackenzie Pearson, seventh grade from Mr. Luci. I'm nominating Mackenzie Pearson for student of the month. She has a 93%
007A for my class right now. She always has interesting questions during classes. She's done a great job of getting her assignments completed and turned in on time. She does a great job when we do cahoots in the class to review. >> What's I know what it is. You want to explain what it is? >> It's kind of like this app where you get like this trivia kind of thing and you like can't answer questions and it tells me you get it wrong. >> And you can compete with your classmates. >> Yes. >> Well, she does a great job when we do cahoots in the class to review. She has me check over her assignments before she turns them in so that I can help her with anything that she is still confused about. She always
008shows up to class in a great mood and that sounds just wonderful to me. So, congratulations to those. >> Your dad's with you right there. Thanks for being here. >> Nobody else is here with Callie, eighth grade from Mr. Bowman. Callie is an intelligent, hardworking young lady who is consistently come to class prepared and ready to engage in learning. She takes pride in her work, gives full effort on every assignment, no matter the task. Showing a strong sense of responsibility and determination. Callie has also attended. She's thoughtful in class discussions, contributing in meaningful ways that reflect her understanding and her commitment to doing her best. Beyond her academic strengths, she is genuine pleasure to have in class. She brings a positive attitude each day, very respectful to both her peers and teachers. She also has
009a fun, goofy side that shines through in the classroom, helping to create a relaxed and enjoyable environment where others feel comfortable and engaged. Her sense of humor and ability to enjoy the moment make her someone her classmates are naturally drawn to and a joy to be around. Callie's combination of strong work ethic, intelligence, kindness, and joyful personality makes her very deserving of student of the month. CONGRATULATIONS TO you this evening. >> Very nice. Thanks for being here. Help support. Thank you. So I think this is the first time I can remember we've got very um low numbers in high school here, but most of those kids are involved in in a in an event tonight. Spring sports. We had four events tonight. I think taking a lot of our kids away from things plus we
010had some sickness. So I'm going to read some names here. Uh, Tanner Dylan is being recognized this month in his Spanish classes. He's got a baseball game, I believe. So, that is taking Tanner out of this evening's festivities. Gabriel Miller, I don't know that Gab's here. I didn't see him walk in. Gab's being recognized from Mr. Rogers out of the CTE department in industrial technology. They've done doing tremendous things there. Maven Hall is a math nomination to uh represent math department. and Mrs. Shamach gave her some um a very good write up. Maven is in a track meet this evening uh as far as I know. I think that's what Mr. Burns Mr. Mr. Haskins confirmed for me. Uh Mackenzie Burns, social study. I didn't see Mackenzie walk in. Okay, I don't want to miss
011anybody. Social studies. That was from Mr. Lucia as well. She's doing outstanding things in social studies department. Addison Nagel was a representative uh representing fine arts uh in music history class and that recommendation was from Miss Underwood. We have a sick and sickness. Arian Dutton is sick was not in school today. She's a science uh as student of the month and from Mrs. Shear. She got some phenomenal things said about her from her outstanding achievement in science this month. and Cadence Schultz. Cadence didn't walk in right and then Miss Cadence. So Cadence was is being recognized for her outstanding work in medical terminology in the health department. And that was a write up from Mrs. Ard. So that is a first for students of the month in the high school not being represented. So congratulations
012all those students school. Mrs. Justice um is the teacher that signed up for student of the month, but obviously she is at middle school track meet. So, I'm going to do hers on behalf of her. So, I need Emily and Sheldon. Come on up, please. >> All right. All right. So, Tori has been a joy to have in class this year. She works hard and always strives to do her best. Tori comes to school every day with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. She is kind and willing to help others, whether it's assisting a friend who is struggling with a concept or sharing her materials. Tori shows respect for her teachers and peers. She takes responsibility for her actions and keeps a positive attitude. I am proud of Tori for accomplishments this
013month. Kudos to her parents for raising such a fine young lady. And I would also like to add that every time that I see Tori in the hallway, she always has a happy smile on her face and she comes up and gives the best hugs, don't you? So, congratulations, TORI. And who do you have with you tonight? >> Your dad. Very nice. Thank you. All right, William, you ready? All right. William Sheldon is a fine young boy and a joy to have in class. He is always polite and cooperative. He has matured nicely this year academically and socially. He assumes responsibility well and has a fine attitude. He always he's always very positive and willing to help. It has been a pleasure having him in class and I look forward to his continued success here
014at CCI. I don't I can't wait to see the young man that he will become in his future years. Great job, William. Keep up the good work. And I will say that William and I had a conversation earlier in the year, right? And since then, um, William has been one of the most respectful students and very honest and so he is a joy to have. So, thank you, William. CONGRATULATIONS. >> THANKS, GUYS. >> Thank you. or come around the board. Go look at these people, but then turn around the audience. First of all, I have to say I have a fabulous class. They're caring. They're kind. They're really hardworking. If we have someone who is struggling, not only Beckham and Kora, but many people in my class always reach out and help those people. So,
015it was kind of difficult to pick. So, I decided I was picking two people who represent the qualities of Tri County and I picked Cora Baylor and Becca O'Neal. So, I'm going to tell you a little bit about them that they always show traits of respect and responsibility. I'm really proud of both of these kids because they've grown not only academically but socially and behaviorally this year and they always accept all the new challenges with a smile and a willingness to try their best. And today we did NWA math test and we were there some hard questions really hard. Did you give up? Nope. They did not give up. They did not give up. So, I am proud of both of my both of my students as well as my entire class and I'd like
016you to give them a hand. >> Okay. I told her I knew a lot of people in her family were telling me she'd have to name everybody. Becca, who brought you tonight? Your mom. Good job. Thank you very much, everybody. Let's go around this direction. All right. Well, we thank parents for bringing kids in. I know we got a lot of spring activities going on. So, you're more than welcome to all stay for the meeting. If you need to skip out right now is a great time to leave. Senior, you got to stay Okay. Do we have any visitor comments on the agenda? Nothing reports. Good evening everyone. Um since our last board meeting, um I responded to 11 different calls for service within the school, attended 14 different meetings. U also assisted local departments
017on two different occasions. We had a couple harassment complaints safety concerns about the major assisted with the escort of meeting a state fire marshal through the buildings. They came for inspection. I assisted um our main striker, Mr. Bell, with doing that. We did have a student that had a pretty serious mental health crisis. Um with the assistance of our counselors, Mr. McCrack, and we were able to take care of that situation. Also had one unknown 911 call appeared to be just a pocket dial. There was no emergency. I did do four separate investigations to where I need to watch a lot of video camera footage trying to identify some things. Those were all sold and taken care of. Also with Miss Kelly, we did a final walk through with Pipe Archer. They're the ones who
018are going to be installing our new entry systems in all the buildings. So, we got that done. Uh, and also, so I had a routine checkup with my cardiologist and talking and we were talking about how there's an uptick nationwide of younger and younger people having major cardiac issues, whether it be from vaping or energy drinks or or whatever the case may be. So that got my gears grinding and um I did a lot of research and applied for a grant and I'm very proud to say that Tri County did receive a grant. We will be putting automatic external defibrills or ads in every single one of our school buses which is going to include our short buses that transport people to band and wired concerts, sporting events, things like that. That necessary paperwork has
019been filled out, turned over. Um, so we will be doing that and coaches and anyone who will be driving those as well as bus drivers will be trained, certified on those when they come back to start next school year. I thought that was pretty pretty cool. I can tell you we're the first in this area. We may be the first school corporation in the state that actually is taking that stuff. That's all I have. >> Thank you questions for officer page. Thank you. Okay, construction report. >> Yeah, if you've been around back, you'll see the backpack program walls are are up. Um they're getting ready to pour the floor uh in there. So, that's a pretty big step. And then they'll continue to work out in the the bus barn area. Um I was back
020there today. They're about the same spot getting ready to pour some flooring in there. So, our deadline was um end of June. and Skiilman is confident that we're going to make that deadline even though we had some delays at the beginning with the permits now that some nicer weather is there. Uh we did have one problem. Um they were trenching over some of the utilities. They did hit a water line probably three weeks ago. This is before spring break. Uh the water line was it we had it marked but where they were digging is where the water line they didn't think was there it was. So, uh, but we did get that fixed. Um, that is the water that ran out to the concession stand. So, we we wanted to get that fixed in time
021to have it open for spring sports. So, we got that taken care of. So, I have for and then in your packet as always are your construction affidavits. Um, several through this month. Um, once again, the process um, Jialter, our architect checks them, Skilman double checks them, then they come to Mrs. Sewward and I and then that's the process that we go through and then that's where when we have our budget meeting with Paul Terroski from Skilman those are the things that we go through to make sure that we're staying in line with our budget. So that's the process. I'm share those with you every month once you have those. So I have >> Okay. We have any committee reports? >> Um there's ongoing activity with the uh White County Redevelopment Commission and um there's
022some stuff coming up. Some of it's not out yet, but uh there's some strong interest in looking at what we would call this area the Wayfair exit the US 231 I65 and um just a variety of things and plans and feasibilities and all those kind of things. But uh um there were a number of firms interviewed for engineering and uh some of them said already there's there's already some some strong interest for that area. So to be continued we'll see but it's it's kind of exciting stuff. So >> park met for Remington. Um kind of slow right now. We're getting ready to start everything, but construction should uh begin with the playground equipment this fall, hopefully up and going by May of next year. >> You have one comment in your packet or the board
023committee assignments um next month. If we could look at those and make a a reassignment, if you will, um for to get Mr. Vors involved. um we promise to to get him involved as much as possible. So if you can look at those committee assignments um you know I would encourage the board to consider it may not be just a straight swap from Dr. Shimmer's positions to Mr. Vore. So may look at those and if there's things maybe that you're willing to consider jumping on um or giving Mr. board is an opportunity to be a part of but something just we'll do at the next board meeting but want to get it to you this month so you have time to look at it review it consider and then we can make some actions next
024month >> um we had a um advisory board meeting since the last time we met um and talked about um kind of her programs culinary and um the student teaching and how that's going and the culinary later classes are getting ready for their um field trip they take to their choice. This year it's Indianapolis to tour some different um restaurants. So >> was that also with food provided? >> Was provided that's >> prepared by the students always. Okay, moving on for principles. >> This month I really want to highlight um the efforts we're taking to plan for a successful next school year. We know we have roundups at the end of this week. So we'll get to meet all of our future couple years. We also have transition conferences for students with IEDs. So last
025week we met on the students that are transitioning to us from the developmental preschool at South Newton. We meet with some new staff comes over and it's a very large group. We have double speech and double leaders and um double teachers for everything. So really getting to know that child if we don't already know them and discussing what supports and services are going to look like as they're in a full day kindergarten classroom. Um we are also setting up conferences to plan for our second graders transitioning over to the intermediate school. Those will happen in May. But similarly let Mrs. and staff get to know our students. They will all go and visit TCI later in May as well just meet all the teachers, see the classrooms, help that transition as much as possible between
026the two buildings. Lastly, our teachers spend a great deal of time on class list. We've started a couple weeks ago just getting some basics going on the next few weeks. Really considering the whole child. Our teachers do an excellent job of thinking about personalities, how they learned us, what supports they need, maybe things needs to be separated with peers and those notes that there's so there's a lot of thought um in here that goes into those lists. We do try them out too once the lab is kind of solidified. We break them into those groups and they do an activity with each other just to see how they're meshing. This is just a quick title. something we need to change before we finalize the list. Parents of course they request we try to as much
027as possible but trying to again consider everybody's needs to. So with all that I want to thank the staff too for all their efforts and this year's not even over with yet and we're already planning for a successful next school year. questions. Thank you. >> Um, so a couple weeks ago it was instructional assistance and librarian day. So I want to make sure that I thank all of them for their hard work. They are very dedicated to our teachers and to our students. So um, they help our building. So we are very blessed to have them. So thank them very much. um the Sunshine Girls came over and did an Easter egg hunt probably the next day before um before Good Friday and so that was March 1. So we wanted to thank them. They
028filmed lots of eggs and the kids had a great time. They were very we had to kind of shift or pivot a little bit because it's rain so we had to do it in the classrooms and but we made it on work and it was great. So they were very flexible and we appreciate them coming and doing that. Um, and then this past Friday, our fourth graders participated in egg day over at White County Fairgrounds and the students at camp coming back were just gaming and I asked them how to knit and they had such a great time and they learned a lot and so it was really neat that they got to be around a lot of the some of the animals that they don't normally get to be around. You know, for some
029of us, you know, being around livestock is normal, but for some of them it's it's not. So, it was really fun to watch them come back in from that. Um, Scios has provided us a SIM vending machine. So, similar to this book vending machine that they have at the primary building, they've done a SIM vending machine for us. And so, that was dropped off. And so, um, we want to thank them. That was a very generous donation and our kids are looking forward and excited for that to open up. Um, tomorrow our math bowl team will host their competition out of the junior senior high school and that starts at 5:30. Um, I do want to wish our math team good luck, but I also want to take the time to thank everybody at the
030high school. So, thanks to Mr. McCracken and Mr. Haskins for allowing us to use the auditorium and Mr. Sur for making sure that the auditorium was reserved for us. And then finally, technology staff for setting everything up and getting it all running. So, we appreciate them very much. Um the week of April 20th we will start our I learn testing and we will finish our last scheduled makeup day is May 8th. So they'll test for about an hour hour and a half each day. Um and then just Monday, Tuesdays and Thursdays and then over the next several weeks. So then we'll get those done and then this year April 24th is our community day. So, um, we do want to make sure that we are taking time to thank our community, um, and all of
031those that are involved that help support our schools. There's been other teachers that have moved in from other districts in my building and they said, you know, Tri County doesn't understand how truly blessed they are because it's very safe and supportive community. And so, I think sometimes people take that for granted. Um, but I think we are very lucky to have the supporting community that we have. question. >> So, what kind of things they put in that? >> Um, we have all kinds of things. I mean, there's like there's some cubes and just different like science projects where they will be able to build um different like robotic hands and things like that. So, there's a bunch of stuff in several boxes in my room right now. So, totally get it all. I happened to
032be there the day it was. >> Oh, yeah. Yes, you did. of the whole entryway. >> Yes, it was it's quite big, but it's it'll be fun. We unpackage it and then it already came with some things like different kinds of cubes that have activities for them. And um there's like a fossil dig and things like that in some of the containers. Um and then building different STEM activities and engineering parts. Um, and then we'll get to Scio is actually planning to continue to donate so that we can continue to purchase things to put in the machine. So, >> questions. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Real quick, uh, just FYI, severe weather season's upon us. Uh, forecast right now is the next couple days in the Midwest, we have severe weather and we discussed some
033this evening. So, I I'm very comfortable and u I'm hoping the staff and the students should feel the same way with protocols at the high school. And then the other thing I wanted to bring up is that officer Paige and I that was Bri. It was last month. Uh we both attended some training in Monaceel in regards to severe weather. Uh we're actually certified storm spotters now. Um that doesn't mean we're going to post people on top of the building when we have like the good old days. from what I've been told. Um, but at the same time, I think it just adds another element of safety for for everybody and I just wanted you to be aware of that. >> Okay. Mr. Um, junior prom this Saturday. Uh, it's, uh, being taking place at
034Meadow Springs in Francisville from 8 to 11 p.m. And then kids are coming back and junior group of junior parents were charged after proming our talk about the weather. I don't think this would be real perfect, but it still should be warmer than maybe it has been in the past. Looking forward to our students having a great time. or Saturday either starts next Tuesday the 21st through Thursday the 30th. We're going Tuesday, Thursday. Next week, Tuesday, Thursday the following week be done makeups. Um spring sports are in full swing as Mr. Crack alluded to. We've got baseball, softball, track, and golf all have something going on tonight. So bunch of things going such a short season. So just about every night there's baseball and softball playing times a week. So it's just it's a busy
035time of year and we're excited that that many kids our kids are so many kids are involved in sports. Um big thanks to all of our my teachers that wrote Education Foundation grants to enhance instruction in the classroom. We had several that have been turned into court office. So appreciate those teachers efforts. No guarantee they're going to get them, but it's nice that they're thinking of new ways to new ideas for our students. Um, marking calendars because this will happen before the next board meeting. Junior high and sixth grade band and choir con spring conference will be Wednesday, May 6th in the main gym at 6 PM. We're doing all of it together, both band and choir kind of like we did the Christmas program. So again, that's May 6, Wednesday, May 6th. And then
036um the high school's band choir concert is that following Saturday night, May 9th in the auditorium. Um our sit team, my sit team will meet tomorrow. We're going to discuss kind of finalize our final schedule. We kind of thought we had kind finals schedule. So we had to add that day on after Memorial Day. So we're going to look at things a little bit different for how we set that for at the end of the year. Um, we're also going to kind of look at the possible cell phone policy implementation for next year, what that's going to look like and maybe just get some input from our staff. Um, and also we're going to look at future school calendars, Miss Hall. Um, kind of put some out there that think this is for 272, next
037year school calendar, but 2728 looking about some different ideas. And so we're going to kind of review hopefully at least final schedule and some policies. If we have time, we're getting school calendars tomorrow. That's tomorrow after school. Um, thanks to all the teachers that made efforts in getting kids out for field trips. Mr. Rogers, Mr. Shimmer is taking Miss Moer's getting ready to take her group to Indianapolis for restaurant tour. Mrs. Arvin, Miss Stworks have taken kids to S. We've got IU Health in the building. Um, this virtual tour. So, it's good to see our kids getting exposed to things outside of our buildings, but thanks to all of our teachers and taking time um throughout the year, especially since the second semester. Um, last two things, congratulations to Jenna Meer and Reell McB. These
038two gals are they were student teachers for us starting in January and they student taught for Mrs. Tiki and Mrs. Coley. Then they got their student teaching done and then Mrs. Ty, Mrs. Coley met both went on maternity leave and so they are filling in this filling in with M and this Musker filling his board. Mrs. Coley um and they're doing a really nice job. They will both be really good teachers in some corporation. I know Mr. Be in fact um I think is going to have a chance at a job now Lafayette. She lives in West Lafayette and Miss Mexico. I'm not for sure if she plans to stay in the area, but both of them are going to be really valuable assets to some schools in the future. So, congratulations to both of
039them for finishing up their student teaching. Welcome them to our school corporation. And lastly, we have two new Cavaliers that we want to welcome to our corporation. Uh the first one is William Carter Tiki, born on March 18th, which was the week before spring break. U Mrs. Tiki and her husband welcome their first child. And then we also want to welcome Emory Ray Coley who was born during on spring break week of spring break 326 to Victoria and her husband Coley. Um and both moms are doing well. Uh for Mrs. Tike it's her first experience with motherhood. For Mrs. Coley, this is her third child. So um they are getting along well and selling new babies are selling well. So welcome those questions for Thank you very much. Okay, moving on for new business. >>
040Yeah, under new business uh we have um personnel report. Uh we have two resignations. Uh first is from Molly Day. Uh, I've been truly blessed to spend this year as a tri county cavalier. Thank you for welcoming me into your community with open arms. I'm very grateful for the support, the experiences, and the opportunity to work with such wonderful students and staff. I also appreciate the opportunities to be given I had been given to grow as an educator. So, we we thank Mrs. uh Day for her time in third grade and wish her nothing but the best. and then also resignation from Tessa Dwit from her resignation. I want to thank both both of you uh Miss Hall for the opportunity to work in such an amazing environment and to be given a spot with
041everyone at Tri County. I feel a part of a family working at the primary building and I've made a very good relationship with the kindergarten a Nicole. The overall message I have learned while working at Tri County is that everyone is there for each other no matter what the issue is or what the other person has going on. So Tessa has a young family uh and she has elected to stay home. Um she has a young son, so she's going to do that. We're very appreciative and grateful for her time as the prekade instructional aid. Under employment, uh we have two employment recommendations. Uh Mr. Jimmy Murphy uh as the art teacher at the junior senior high school, Mr. Murphy has worked for us this past year. Um with Mrs. Wiki being on a leave
042of absence, Mr. Murvy has filled in admirably and we're glad that he has decided to stay with Tri County. Uh done done a fantastic job. And then we also have Mr. Justin Kinsey will be at the junior senior high school as a special education teacher and our varsity football coach. So those are the recommendations. >> Are there any of them here? >> Well, I was going to get it approved first because I don't want to put the cart before the horse. So vote yes and then I'll introduce Mr. Kinder because that would be really awkward to accept the person does that and Mr. >> Any further discussion hearing none all those in favor say I abain motion passes 70 >> Mr. Kenzie, congratulations. So, it's it's official now. So, welcome to Tri County. Thank you
043for being a Cavalere. And then it's your son. I'm glad he was able to come here as well. So, thank you for making the the trip and seeing a little bit of how we do things at Tri County. So, you don't have to say anything. The job is yours. You just got to prove. So, you don't have you don't have to say anything. But, anything you want to say? >> Yeah, absolutely. Um, so first of all, real I'll be brief. That's not my forte. I'm usually kind of longwinded. Um, so first of all, I'm humbled and honored. Uh, appreciate you guys trusting me with the program. Um, again guys, I I'm a teacher first and foremost. I've been an educator for 17 years. I'm going to fit in perfectly here with all of our guys
044that are gone because they're in spring sports. I am licensed to teach multiple content areas. I've coached multiple sports, so I'm going to fit right in here. Um, again, I'm just excited to be here and build a football program that is an important part of the fabric of this entire community. Um, again, there's a lot of things that happen on Friday night that we can't control what happens on the scoreboard, but we can absolutely control the kind of young men that come out of our program, leave our locker room after six years. Um, so again, thank you so much. I'm excited to be here. Uh, ready to get to work, and uh, go Caps. >> Thank you. >> Uh, the second item under new business is there were the renewal of our agreement with Indiana
045Online. Uh last year we partnered with Indiana online to offer a virtual opportunity for some of our students. Um and Mr. Haskins, I'm going to put you on the spot here in just a second, but Mr. Haskins, Mr. Sharp and I met recently to talk about Indiana online. We use Indiana online uh for various reasons or various opportunities. Um we have some kids that are in physics. Um so they I think we have what six students in physics. So, they're taking physics through Indiana online. We have other students who are taking us because it fits into their schedule better um for various reasons. So, we we do intend to bring a handbook to the board again because we've identified some things. This is our first voyage uh through this things we need to probably button
046up and tighten up a little bit, but we didn't know until we actually did it for a year. However, I am asking that we renew our agreement with Indiana Online. uh for the 2627 school year. Mr. Haskins, anything you want to add? Great to work with. We've got some really good individuals that are good about getting backunication. It's very solid and just kind of feels like, you know, they're obviously they they want best for kids. So I think it's a good part for us going to accept the renewal agreement. >> So second any discussion hearing none. All those in favor say I. >> I post seven. >> Okay. Financial report. >> Yeah. in your financial uh packet there. Um you have the transfer report from education to operations. Uh periodically I'd like to just give
047a brief review. Our education fund is funded by the our ADM or our student enrollment. So you could see in that distribution there how much we get paid a month $535,000 of which then we could transfer to the operations fund. No more than 15%. So Mrs. Steuart has a nice spreadsheet of of how much we transfer monthly. This month the transfer was was $80,29610. And then she keeps a running total of that transfer throughout the course of the year. And so at the very bottom you can see the percent transferred is 14.9%. So I always include that. Sometimes I spend more time on that than others, but I think it's just an important piece of the financial information. You also have in your packet our fund report uh at the end of March. Uh and
048Mrs. Seer does a nice job putting these together, but she does have listed at the top um some some payouts there. Uh we have the preventing you suicide stipens that were paid out for our counselors and principles who have been helping with the preventing you suicide grant initiative. And then we also pay our ECAs um at this point. Um probably three years ago we changed uh how we did our ECA payments. It used to be a part of the teacher contract, but we decided to change it to where the payment becomes after the season is completed. So now that we have our winter season completed, our coaches are getting paid out there. Uh ECAS also include anybody doing um academic sports bowls, academic bowls or anything like that. So at the building level. So, the
049reason why I point that out is if you're going through and looking at these expenditures throughout the course of monthto monthth, you're wondering why are they fluctuating? Um, it could be because of reasons like the payouts, the ECA contract payments, and so forth. Also, in your packet, you have um the payroll registers for period ending March 13th and March 27th. And you also have the claims document. And I do want to highlight just a couple claims. Um really it's not about the claim, it's about the people. But on page six, there is a claim 5628. So if you look at the voucher number, um that is to Ashley Brookke. Uh that is for bus driver training for Mrs. McClure. Um it's one of those unheralded things that Tri County staff members do. As Mrs. Mccclure
050was getting her bus license. Um, she needed to be trained and Mrs. Brook actually stepped up and trained her a lot of times on the weekend or after her route. Um, you may have saw them on a Sunday afternoon driving through the parking lot at the high school or taking drives. Um, some of it is required hours and some of it's just preparation for the test. Mrs. Mclard did pass a test on her first try and a lot of that is the hard work of Ashley Brookke, Adam Wyel, Mr. Haskins getting her ready. I remember seeing Mrs. Mccclure when she was getting ready to take her test and I said, "Are you ready?" And she looked at me very confidently and said, "Yeah, I've got this." And I thought, "Well, I hope you do." But
051then I look and the people who were training her had her prepared. So, um, I just thank you to to all those people who helped get her trained. Once again, it's not necessarily about the claim, it's about the people that I wanted to make sure that we highlighted that. With that being said, I don't have any other claims to highlight. However, if there's any questions from any members of the board about the claims, I would answer those at those at this time. >> Ready to >> Yep. I think so. Yep. >> All right. I have a motion to accept that. Any discussion? >> Yeah. All those in favor say I. >> I pass seven. >> Okay. >> At this time, I'd like to welcome Mr. Versus to the board as well. So, um, welcome aboard.
052Earlier, Officer Paige referred to the fire marshall report in your packet. Uh, the report from all three buildings are in there. Uh, the fire marshall um is a regional area, so it's not just White County, Jasper County. Uh, he came into all three of our buildings in the last couple weeks. Um, very thorough, but very reasonable person to work with. Pointed out a lot of things that we need to address. and since he has uh Mr. Bell, Officer Paige, our admin team and teachers have been working hard to address the issues that he has has mentioned. Um it is a lengthy list. Uh we are working on just one at a time through that list. Once again, just thank you to our staff for for being patient. Thank you to our administrators for getting that
053information. Uh but I would be remiss, Mr. Bell has done a lot of Yoan's work here. uh he he created a a kind of a packet for our principles to go through and say here are the things we need to address even included pictures and tried to provide some clarity. Um to the best of our knowledge, fire marshall hadn't been at the high school since 200 one two one or two. It's been a while. So um he came through and and found several things that we needed to address, things that we didn't know, but we appreciate him uh taking his job as seriously as he does. Um you know, he has a job to do and we're trying to slowly work through those. He has said he is going to come back, so we are
054working on trying to get those things addressed. Mr. Page, >> I just like to add after walking around with him, he did say, especially for the amount of time it's been since our last inspection, he said we did very well, even though like Mr. Cult added, we we obviously have some things we need to work on, but he said he's seen a lot worse of places that have been inspected a lot more recently. Um, last week, um, Mr. Kilmer, Mrs. Overbeck, Mr. Gerber and I went up to the ISBA regional meeting in Marville. Um, it was a great time to get up there and and talk to other school districts, but also hear from Terry Sprdlin, uh, the executive director about the most recently completed legislative session. Mr. Haskins already referred to Senate Rolled Act
05578, uh, is called the cell phone ban bill. Um, it is a little bit more complex than that, but we did have an admin meeting last week. We already started looking at what is that going to how is it going to work here at Tri County. Uh in your board packet is some sample language from the Indiana School Boards Association um that you need to address any really electronic device or anything that connects to Wi-Fi. So you have a couple options. It can be a complete ban of cell phones or we have to have a storage policy meaning kids can bring them to school however they have to be stored and we have to clearly articulate where they can be stored. So something to keep an eye on. Uh that will go into our handbooks
056which will be approved at the June board meeting. So uh we've already started working on that. Lastly, uh for some of our seniors, probably day they've been looking forward forward to for quite a while. May 31st, Sunday is graduation. Um tenatively we have the baloria planned for 12:15 for that day and then we will have graduation at 2 o'clock on Sunday, May 31st. So, uh, just for board members, um, new and maybe not, maybe this is your second graduation, keep in mind that we will be signing diplomas probably hopefully at the May board meeting. So, we will provide the pen and so, but make sure you're ready to to sign those at the May board meeting. Other than that, that's all I have. How many seniors do we have here? Okay. And how many how
057many of you have been to public meet like this? Well, I get an opportunity to pick on my neighbor. The power of the beard, right? >> Yeah. Okay. Um, so you kind of see we discuss items, we vote, sometimes sometimes it's 70. Okay, it it makes kind of sense if we're going to approve a milk bid and there's only one bid that you're going to vote 70. Okay. But there's other times I've been around a while. I've seen it where it's been four to three and you have good dialogue, you have good discuss discussion. It takes a variety of views and that's that's important. The old adage is if everybody thinks alike, then some of them aren't needed. Okay? So, we have that diversity and yet we can discuss things and I don't care what
058the vote is. when we walk out of here, we're going to shake hands. We're going to be good friends. That kind of stuff. And that's that's what's really neat about a democracy. And that's what's neat. This is on a on a local level. I wish the uh state and national level would maybe get along a little better like that. Okay. But um you guys are going to go out and some of you going to go straight in workforce, some of you going to go on to some other uh technical school or or whatever. Some are going to go on to four year. We're hoping some of you come back here. But wherever you go, you get a chance, give back. Okay? I'm encouraging you. There's there's a lot of blessings. Is there some work involved
059in it? Sure, there is. There's a lot of blessings. The last thing I want to say is uh you guys are coming down to the to the last uh last part. Old football coach used to say fourth quarter, boys. Fourth quarter. And we knew what that meant. that mean is that meant is give it your all all the way through. Okay. So, um finish strong and just remember that some some of you may not realize it, but there may be some little kids you don't even know that are looking up to you and just give them a really good example and finish strong. And I just wish you the best. Okay. Second that discussion. >> 70. >> That last one. That one's always 70. Okay.
