[Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do foreign [Music] warren county school corporation board of school trustees april 26 2022 meeting to order would you please rise and join me in a moment of silence please remember will beard who was a former school board member who passed last week and then we will be followed by the pledge thank you i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all thank you we are at number four which is patrons con catering concerns and we have one person signed up irene fuller if you would like to step forward please i'm irene i live in newburgh indiana thank you
again for letting me there's a lot of things going on in our schools all over the nation and i think we do have an exceptional exceptional school as i've told you several times am concerned that some schools and may it not be warrick county school system is entertaining gender ideology in the schools and i would pray that this school board would make sure that that is the parents responsibility and not the teachers the teachers are there to teach the basic subjects teach them truthfully and to encourage the children to grow if there is an exception an abusive parent a neglected parent we're not talking about that but basically any gender education should come from the parents please make sure that our warrior county school students are not encouraged to in to do any unalterable measure
that they would later regret when they're mature please that is their decision but not in school and especially in the elementary schools we must know what time it is we must respect parental procedure parental rights and try to help these students that might be troubled thank you very much thank you and if you don't mind i'll have you sign later okay name's uh jim post newberg uh i wanted to just come back a little bit since i've been here um i wanted to say um the whole pandemic thing was very hard for everyone across the board we all understood that well did what we thought was best and the ways we can go about it one thing that i have been able to find out and honestly i i haven't spent as much time on
it as i'd like to but exactly what was done with the money that came in from federal and state funding to support those things in regards specifically to teachers principals bus drivers nurses the whole staff that they all went above and beyond worked harder than they ever have i know in some schools you know contract tracing was taking you know one or two people in the school like or more all day to do which means that was taking them away from their regular duties of educating our children and i didn't see anywhere where anyone was hired with any of that money to be a contact tracer so our principals our nurses our staff could educate our children rather than running around chasing contract tracing i that's something that always bothered me this whole time [Music]
because you know my wife's a teacher and she spent extra hours with seating charts because of the distancing thing any of you ever been in a classroom or an office situation or something where you have to do like a seating chart type of thing normally teachers can do that fairly simple but with the distancing and the mast on mass off and all that kind of stuff it took a lot of you know physically moving rooms around best desks and tables and chairs and all that kind of stuff and nowhere did i see any um of the money that was given to pay extra to the teachers to the principals to the nurses that spent hours that they normally wouldn't spend in any other school year wouldn't have spent deadly squat on finding out who sat
next to who for how long okay so i don't know that our kids got the best education they could because unfortunately we had teachers nurses principals spending time they normally would spend on kids on their education on that rather than chasing contract traces that was one thing that i was very good very sorry about the other one real quick is the critical race theory that we've talked to about it off and on i was i was disappointed to see one of the board members posted something that they were disappointed that or they were excited that the indiana state didn't ban critical race theory um meaning that that board member liked critical race theory was the assumption it was disappointing to see that posted on social media and that's bad okay moving on to item five

in the english language it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure that each child attends school as required to attend means to be physically present during regular school hours in a school or at another location where the school's education program is being administered this must also be on a day the educational program in which the student is enrolled is being offered accurate student attendance records will be kept for each student parent or guardians will be notified of each student's attendance by the regular report card or special notice when there is a specific need and finally students whose absences approach or exceed the limits established by the board or indiana law shall be subject to discipline by the school corporation and the legal authorities and as mr whitehead said we'll make that uh

rock paper scissors but i think we're gonna go with dr lambert first because he's ready to go and they had a policy meeting tonight and i think he's gonna give us an update on that and mrs wagner's gonna follow up with special ed transportation update scissors needs paper so got that um but first just a little reminder on the attendance policy a lot of that the changes were just to get us up to date with the law the current law and streamline some of the processes with that going forward so we can make certain we're following exactly what the indiana law requires of us to do that and a lot of these other policies i'm going to talk about is just streamlining as well just some updates keeping us up to date with things we
did discuss the student dress code policy really the policy itself doesn't need to have any changes to it it is more of the regulations but in that policy in that regulation it does ask we bring those to the board for you all to review and we will probably have that in the may meeting may or june we'll bring that to you to take a review of what we make the changes a lot of it is just again just it's to keep up with the law most of the any kind of dress code issues things like that if it causes a disruption then it's an issue but we have some things listed that really don't cause disruptions and so it would not fit with how court cases have been heard in federal court as well so
we'll bring that to you as well another policy we discussed as well these were just minor changes that will be coming so again we'll come to you all as well as for the code of conduct for student athletes two one that i think the athletic directors and principals and coaches kind of feel strongly about is the middle school to the high school transition about how that carries over so we're going to look at separating those two get some language with that to keep that you know middle school issue and the high school issue going forward and then taking our [Music] 10 percent we have 10 20 right now under the code of conduct for the first offense so we're just going to make everything 20 and just keep it all in line with that because
that's confusing sometimes one is ten percent one's twenty percent depending upon the issue so we're just gonna uh fix that uh going forward with that and that's all that i have any questions for me is that something that we can include at our work session the student dress code so that we are kind of up to date on looking at that up to you we'll look for that yes you can sure do that we can provide that if you want it i would like that our other board members interested as well sure yeah but yeah i i do need to meet with the principals on that too as well since they're the ones that deal with those issues so i should be able to have that stuff to you okay thank you this is wagner
welcome and so within our special ed and transportation right now we're just focusing on closing out the year and so we have a lot going on right in this last little bit of time we're also in the full swing with testing season going on with our students right now for all of them so that does roll over into our department as well a lot of our teachers right now at our preschool and our kindergarten level and then with our speech therapists are just working really hard on closing out the year a lot of annual case conferences prepping for next school year um they off that also even though it's stressful they also know that end of the year is inside and they're getting excited about the kids moving on and planning for them for next
year um from our from my end a lot of future planning going on right now you guys are going to be overwhelmed with my staffing coming through in the next meeting we'll have a school psychologist a behavior consultant some like three behavior assistants a music therapist a special ed coordinator and several teachers so um even though it's a lot to get you know in now um we're excited about bringing new people in and seeing what new things we're going to have on our you know people on our team and moving forward into the next full year transportation as always they're constantly working hard to get through the remainder of the year just keeping all of the routes covered they're also mrs redmond is keeping him very busy for some are planning so they have to
get ready for summer school so they're already planning for that mr flowers believes he's going to have about 15 buses running in june and then about 20 buses running in july to get our students wherever they need to go for all of our summer activities so he will stay busy through the summer so it's mainly what we have going on it's a bit yes but it's good it is it's great it is great thank you thanks okay on to item nine other board business uh just a reminder the teacher recognition of uh retirees and i believe that's for the past three years and it's also the teachers who have met their 25 year mark will be recognized on thursday of this week at 6 00 pm at rolling hills so just a reminder of that
we have a personnel committee meeting on may 9th at 5 30 and the work session on may 9th at six o'clock and both of those are here in this building the policy committee policy and curriculum meeting will be meeting next at on may 23rd six o'clock here at the central services before our next board meeting you know we have lots of contracts with inflatables and they're all different contracts is that correct that's correct you know most businesses our size don't take what's given them they create one and i think after reviewing all these contracts it would seem reasonable to me that we could come up with a standard contract that anybody wants to do business with the warren county school corporation could do that contract it would save a lot of time for our attorney
reviewing all these different contracts what's the thought of the rest of the board i think that's a great idea to standardize for that specific purpose yes i'd be happy to create that voice approval do we need a motion for that i make a motion that that we direct our attorney to develop a standardized contract that we could use for all these different flavors second we have a motion and a second is there a discussion i think it's a wonderful idea great motion all those in favor signify by saying aye opposed nay motion carries thank you also we have a career pathways meeting on may 10 at 8 30 at the admin building and we will have a construction meeting 7 30 at 7 30 on may 10th uh in the admin building and uh i
any other business from the school board let's wait for them to stay there so let us have one thing to add okay i don't know if you all noticed but we have a change behind us looks a little different and it's also as you know we're streams so it comes on the camera and i want to thank jennifer for her hard work on that put a lot of efforts into getting people together and put this up and you'll start to notice uh over the next eight to eight months to a year you'll start to see the walls change a little bit we're starting to promote our student work our artwork with some amazingly talented kids in this system from kindergarten on up to seniors and working with them and i know jennifer's working with our
art teachers to to promote that and flaunt it and celebrate it we want to really fill this up with kid work i know the boards asked about that for a while and we thought this was a great start and it really looks good if you get a chance to see it framed on tv it looks really nice you also notice we've shifted the projector to face that wall so when presentations go the board is able to stay at the desk and see what's going on and get a little bit better view we got a little better projection on that wall but i just wanted to point some of those things out and say thanks for the great work i think it looks really nice and looking forward to good stuff ahead it does thank you
thank you and we need to go back and and entertain any patron concerns that we might have on the above agenda items do we have anyone wishing to speak the automotive and uh principles of energy is that going to be for next school year yes or would that be for the clinton it's interesting you say that because some of these courses require some i said pre-wreck in the right term walter can correct me if i'm wrong but we have to get kids set up next year so we don't have a blank year when it opens they have there are certain things they have to arrive at the career center particularly upper class that's that's kind of what i was getting wondering if that's kind of why we were getting those in this year and mrs
redmond dr lambert of work with counselors to get because it really jim goes back to scheduling because you know you're talking about scheduling now for sophomores to be juniors so that they are successful arrivals for career center in fall of 23. yeah we've been planning that workout i was kind of assuming that's what it was i just wanted to show you gabby and walter done some great work with that i wanted to make one quick comment about the dress code stuff i don't know if it's happening over here but i've seen again around the country there's been this fad thing going on where children are wearing tails like rabbit tails fox tails and things and calling themselves a cat instead of a boy or girl and a cat and so i would think that would
be something we want to be preemptive in and i'm sure that's a distraction thing would be fit the bill for for that so when you're talking about that i would suggest you add that type of thing the little caviar things and things like that are kind of distracting you might want to think about what matters thank you anyone else okay any other board business all right meeting adjourned thank you [Music] you
