Okay, welcome everyone to our December 8th, 2025 board meeting. If we could all please stand for the pledge. Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Okay. Reminder, if anyone wishes to address the board this evening, we do have speaker forms on the table by the door. Uh let the record show everyone is in attendance. Is everybody okay with the agenda? Do we have any communications? So, moving right on to our board committee updates. A building and facility committee, Miss Rafie. Thank you, Madam President. Uh, building and facilities committee met this evening at 6 o'clock. In attendance were myself, um, Miss Picassio, Mr. Mallaloy, Mr. Wiznooki, Mr. Emmens, and oh yes, Miss

Williams, sorry, Stacy. um sorry discussed at the meeting our sinking fund projects update um the concrete Nationwide came out and they did were not able to finish pouring the concrete around the fence line of the middle school field because it got too cold. So we're waiting for a thaw. They said if they have a stretch of 30° days they'll be able to do it. If not then they'll wait till the thaw. We are receiving some quotes um to potentially wrap up. There's an overhang on the memorial playground that we're looking into. Um the we're going to replace the stage curtains at Burgger Transition Center and Douglas. They're going to be the same color as our middle school and high school. Uh transportation updates. Um Artman's uh a company that we have come out um came

out and cleared the fence lines along Farmington. The it grows into ours grows into some of the neighbors yards. So every few years we have that done. They did a great job. It sounds like um with the change in the weather this week, our buildings and grounds crew, a lot of the guys were in as early as 4:30 in the morning clearing the parking lots and salting to make sure it was safe. So, big thank you to them. It was cold and we appreciate them. Um and we just received another salt delivery. Sounds like we're going through a lot. We just got another 50 ton on Wednesday, so that hopefully it'll last us a few weeks at the rate we're going. And that was it. >> Thank you. curriculum committee, Mr. George. >> There we

go. Thank you, Madam President. Uh, tonight at the curriculum meeting in attendance was myself, Miss Burbaw, Miss Childris, Mr. English, and Mr. Fischer. Uh, we discussed results of the MSTEP test for both math and ELA. Uh we looked at some of the trends, some of the proficient trends heading the upward direction, which is great to hear, and uh some of the non-proficient trends in the downward direction, which is also good to hear. Uh we looked at plans in place to help those non-proficient students become proficient. Uh we also discussed the next steps um over the next couple months for the ELA and the math plans. And lastly, we discussed the uh K through 12 literacy law updates. And there's quite a few. Some are still to come. Some are on the books. It's all a

work in motion at the moment. Thank you. Item A, presentation, strategic plan. Dr. Kaminsky. Good evening. It's a pleasure to be with all of you uh to talk about the strategic planning process. And I was thinking about this as I got in the car to head this way this evening that it feels surreal that we're already at December 8th. Um Mr. Fischer and I began talking about the project back in the springtime. Sort of thinking ahead as to what were the significant events and and the process going to be like and to think that we are at the point where we're presenting the final report is exciting. Um it was such a great experience to work with the Garden City Public Schools. Uh Mr. Fiser is so easy to work with. His team of leaders

and all of the stakeholders that participated in this process. It's truly a pleasure to be a part of such a um amazing group of educators and community members. And it was evident through every step of the process how committed all of you are to your schools and your community. So, I can't thank you enough for um giving me the opportunity to work with all of you through this process. Um I'd like to take a few minutes kind of to walk through the process with you and share with you the final product. Um Mr. Fischer has several documents that can be used. There's a full full report. There's this report and then there's a two-page summary document that should be quite useful um in the process for advertisement website usage and and throughout in the buildings

assuming we are able to get the plan in its final form approved. Um so just a little bit of walk down memory lane if you will. Uh we began this process with considering a new strategic plan back in June and the board approved uh the process to be done with the support of the Michigan Association of School Boards and I had the pleasure of being assigned to this project which was as I mentioned already such a pleasure. Um we began as the school year was just getting started. I remember visiting and doing the input sessions and it was really hot outside that day. So, it makes you think, well, it seemed to go quickly. We've been through all the seasons together. Very hot to the beautiful fall that we had and now to official winter.

Um, so we've been through been through the weather changes in August and September. Uh, we did our data collection that consisted of our online qualitative survey. you had a strong um outpouring of support with lots of feedback from your community which is really an important part part of the process and we also did several input in-person input sessions. Those are a little tricky to put together. Um we were able to listen to lots of feedback from students and faculty as well as community members, you the board of education, your district leaders and students as well. So it was very uh refreshing to see how many people wanted to participate and provide important input into the process. As we got started in the fall on o in October we hosted the 8hour retreat on Saturday where

you had lots and lots of community members including your uh lieutenant from the police department here. We had firefighter we had representatives from the library, parents, students, faculty leaders, board of education members. We had a really nice mix of people who worked really hard for eight hours that day. And then we came back for the implementation workshop that was mostly district leaders. Um, and we came together on another Saturday to work together for four hours. And the outcome of that was a a really nice uh spreadsheet that kind of put forth the first year of the strategic plan, knowing that a strategic plan usually lives for three to five years. And um and then I submitted that spreadsheet for final review rethinking. We always know that reflection is important in the process. And when it

was finally uh in its form that we're going to present to you tonight, uh we are ready to be together here this evening, December 8th, for this final report review with the board of education. So, just a reminder that we did have a lot of stakeholders uh provide input into the process through that online survey and the in-person input sessions. The in-person input sessions are designed to gather the same kind of data that the online survey gathers. This way, all of the data is easily a onetoone comparable. So we ask questions around people uh identifying the strengths and assessing the strengths of the district today. Um we ask people to identify areas from their lens that could be considered for improvement. We ask people to predict barriers that might get in the way if the

district were to embark on any significant change. It's nice to know what people think might get in the way because it helps those groups really process and plan. And then finally, the last question was to identify some key words or key ideas that they felt uh should be a part of the district's revised vision statement. We had 384 online survey responses and and then we had our additional in-person input session responses as well. On October 18th, we came together for a full eight hours. And when we say full eight hours, we worked that entire time. Everybody was committed and engaged in the process. And when you put the agenda up at the morning, at the top of the morning, it seems daunting, but that's the day where we check things off and cross things off

and it helps people to feel like we're getting through this important work. We began that session by going through the process of strategic planning, its timelines. We participated in environmental scan which is a a strategy we use through the strategic planning process that helps to pe people to kind of brainstorm what's on the horizon in public education. What sort of current and standard operating procedure and then what are things that are kind of exiting. They're no longer relevant or as relevant as they might have been at one time. We took a report from our superintendent with respect to the current and planned initiatives in the current state. It was such a cool experience for me to listen to that report because Mr. Fischer is really great at sharing the history of the school district and

some of those bedrocks that were important for for people to hear during that retreat time. um it really emerged some of key ideas that helped us to really create a vision that I think people are very proud of because it is very much garden city and then that's the point of the process. We were able to review the current vision, mission and belief statements um and update them. We reviewed and analyzed all the stakeholder input. All that qualitative input was analyzed in theme in a theme analysis. And then we also went through a whole binder of quantitative data. Everything from demographic data to district achievement data, student achievement data and everything in between. Uh we were able to develop a newly revised vision, mission and belief statements. We were also to able to establish strategic

goal areas as well as key goal statements that will help to live the life of the plan. And then finally, that last product of that retreat was to brainstorm some potential key objectives for each of those goal areas that helped the implementation team do their work when we talk about the next step in the process. So, it was a lot of work, but we created a lot of beautiful products as a result of that work. And I was very proud to be a part of that team that day. The participants in that 8-hour retreat are listed here. So, you can see who these key people were that gave up that full beautiful Saturday. It was a beautiful day that day and they were committed to your schools and your community and we can't thank them

enough. As a result of that retreat, we were able to come up with the team came up with these revised statements. The mission statement that's being proposed for your approval this evening is empowered with hometown pride. We will ensure all students engage, learn, and grow to be future ready. So the new mission of Garden City Public Schools is that and then the vision statement of the Garden City Public Schools is built with hometown pride, committed to excellence, future ready. So those bedrock ideas show up in the vision statement. And remember the vision statement is for think about letterhead, think about promotion, think about a promotion tool for your schools and your community. Um this could show up on on your board agendas. It can show up on your websites um and your school homepages. So,

this is a marketing piece, but it is supposed to message these key ideas and bedrock beliefs um of the of what you envision for Garden City Public Schools. And then really important are these strong belief statements. Um and I thought the team did a phenomenal job coming up with really solid ideas here. So as a result the the team said we believe that students thrive in environment that is inclusive and welcoming. We believe stakeholder participation in the learning process is essential to success. We believe strong foundational skills are key to student learning. And we believe that when adults learn and grow, students learn and grow. There are four very simple yet incredibly powerful statements that encompass the the messaging and the themes that emerged. And so those we propose will be the new Garden City

Public Schools belief statements in a strategic plan. One of the things that makes the MASB model very effective is that it involves all parts of a school district's organization. And in this case, there are five goal areas, five goal statements that encompass the plan that will live for the life of the next 3 to 5 years in this new strategic plan. And they are as follows. that the Garden City Public Schools will focus on strong classroom instruction using standards aligned resources to improve MTSS delivery. The Garden City Public Schools will provide tools, expectations, and support for all learners and all staff to grow. The Garden City Public Schools will provide regular and accessible communication from all buildings. The Garden City Public Schools will provide opportunities for differentiated and relevant professional development. And finally, the Garden

City Public Schools will have clean, safe, and maintained facilities daily. Those are the goal statements that will be the overarching goal statements that will be in place for the next three to five years. And then when we came together for the implementation workshop exactly a month ago on November the 8th, we took those ideas that came as a result of the retreat and then we processed them further and we identified priority objectives for the first year of the plan. During that implementation workshop, we spent time reviewing the process to bring everybody back into the room and to get everybody calibrated to the work that was ahead of us. We discussed all of the handouts that I provided them. So, the handouts were the documents produced as a result of the the retreat day. So the

environmental scan, all of the brainstorming ideas, the revised mission, vision, and belief statements, it was a packet of data of outcomes from the retreat that we used as a tool to drive the implementation workshop forward. So we reviewed the goal statements in addition to the mission, vision, and belief statements. And then we determined potential objectives for the first year. Um, as well as what I always call the calendaring out of the first year of the strategic plan by quarter. So every three months is a quarter. And so we were able to sort of plot that all out and dig in and identify those priority objectives. and then the to-do list, as I like to call it, that if they're done over that course of the year, you will accomplish that first priority objective, which puts

you closer to those big goals becoming Garden City Public Schools reality. So, when we put all those pieces together, we have five goal areas. The first goal area is a goal for academics and programs. And the strategic goal statement that I shared a few moments ago fit right underneath each of these goal areas. So for academics and programs, you'll see that the goal statement that was committed to was there's a focus on strong classroom instruction using standards aligned resources to improve MTSS delivery. And then the priority objectives for year one are listed there in bullet points. All ELA math and reading teachers will use district approved curricula as intended and we will identify best practices and essential outcomes for all content areas K12. So this is for the first year. So the priority objectives just

to orient you the priority objectives and the bullet points on each of the upcoming slides are for year one. The goal area of academics and programs as well as the strategic goal statement those live for the life of the plan. What changes annually are the priority objectives. Does that make sense? Okay. Goal area two is learning environment. The goal statement that tucks underneath that topic is provide tools, expectations and support for all learners and all staff to grow with one big big priority objective for year one which is all schools will participate in using the PBIS framework. And while it is a simple statement, it is a complex task and it's an incredibly impactful task when done well. Goal three is a communications goal and underneath that communications goal is the goal statement indicating that

Garden City Public Schools will provide regular and accessible communication from all buildings. And in year one, the priority objectives are to empower and expect. So strong strong verbs empower and expect staff to proactively communicate with parents to address academic and behavior concerns and then to expect consistent communication from buildings. Goal area four is a personnel goal with this goal statement being that Garden City Public Schools will provide opportunities for differentiated and relevant professional development. And the priority objective for year one is to provide relevant highquality professional development that aligns with district priorities and supports staff growth. So this notion of differentiated and relevant. So the words are so impactful um is really key because it's a recognition of the needs being diverse across the staff because you have veteran teachers, you have new newly hired

teachers who are in their first or second year and you have people somewhere in between. And so it's this notion and it's not just the teachers, it's everybody because this is a learning community. So it's this notion that people will have an opportunity to follow a path that makes sense for them and that's what they need in order to grow and develop. And I loved that idea because it's sort of supports well it doesn't sort of support it directly supports that belief statement that you thrive when everybody is learning and growing. So I loved the the through line and um the connections made in this piece. And then finally, the goal area five is operations. Remember when I said all five areas really encompass all the key bedrocks of the school district. So under the

operations goal area, the goal statement is Garden City Public Schools will have clean, safe, and maintained facilities daily. And for year one, the priority objectives are to identify and address most critical maintenance needs for each building and to research and identify custodial firms with a focus on the competitive bid process. So tonight I am here to share with you this journey that we've been on together and to kind of give you this overview and synopsis of the process. giving you the opportunity to see that final plan in its most simplistic form and to ask and seek the board of education for approval of the new mission, the new vision, the new belief statements, and the new goal statements. And if I can just take a moment as we think about hopefully this plan being approved

and becoming the roadmap for the school district to follow over the next 3 to 5 years. One of the things that MASB knows to be true, having done these plans in many settings and many systems across the state of Michigan, is that when these plans are done, they are simplistic. But we know that our systems, our school district systems are incredibly complex. But when you can find simplicity in complex systems, what you end up getting is fantastic, phenomenal results because the plans are doable. They're realistic and they're very clear and easy to follow. They also carefully align with the Michigan continuous improvement or my kit plans that districts do annually. And I will tell you that your team of educators were careful to think about the priorities that exist in your my kit plan already.

finding intentional through lines from the mykit plans and what they know to be true about the needs of the school district and how they found their way also to be connected to the new strategic plan. We know that you'll have ample time as this is being adopted hopefully at the middle point of the year to use the upcoming quarters that will be part of the current school year to make some strides to achieving these first year priority objectives, but also that you can help define your goals and your budget planning for next year and beyond. The other key piece is that you will want to consider um the implementation timeline which we've calendared out for the first 12 months by quarter, but also that you think about next year at this time because it will

come very quickly. And one of the things that we know to be true about success with these plans is that when you take time out to do a year 2 implementation process, you take stock. you you look at the successes of the plan for the first 12 months and then you define how do we drive forward for the next 12 months. So it is often a good idea to have someone like myself or myself come back for that year two and essentially what it does is it's a secondyear implementation meeting. So we do another 4hour session and what we do is we take stock of how we've done over the next 12 months and then we commit to new priority objectives for year two and create that year 2 spreadsheet and that year 2 document

I just touched something sorry um and so that really ensures success and I will tell you that districts that do that year 2 work really find success in the process so I'm not here to sell you anything. I just want to see you be wildly successful with this work because I know how committed you are to your students and your community. And then the other thing is that it creates more opportunities for stakeholder input throughout the process. So I think it's important to consider what this might look like in a year because believe it or not, you'll blink and you'll feel like you're back here again. And so it's important to consider that as well. My final thoughts are sort of how I started my opportunity to speak to you tonight, which is it's been

a fantastic experience. I found that collaborating with the Garden City Public Schools truly all of you, the board of education, your administration, your leaders, your staff, and the entire community truly illustrated your level of care for your students, uh for your community, and uh for your schools. It's been a true pleasure. And if you have any questions about the process or anything that I could answer for you, I would be happy to do that. >> Yes. >> Anyways, um obviously we're halfway through the school year, so can you go ahead and vote on this then start right away? >> And is that the best use of how to do it? >> I'm only saying because like we do our annual meeting where we go through everything and that be better suited to do that like

maybe the first year. >> What we would do is um pending board approval of course when we have our mutually developed goals, we align my mutually our our goals and my goals specifically to the five areas identified in the strategic plan. Uh a number of administrators have participated in this process. uh we've got a great team, a cabinet team and certainly at the building level and we would just roll this out with fidelity and I think there's no time like the present and I think with you know the support of MASB and Dr. Kamitzky, it's certainly doable. I mean, was this process to start with, was it somewhat intimidating? Yes. Did we have a great consultant? Absolutely. Did we embrace it with fidelity and have wonderful feedback, input, support, critique, honest critique, and thoughtful critique

from the community? We did. Do I believe this plan is strong and will best serve our students? 100%. What would it be? Oh, sorry. So, I remember when we it was Scott Morell that came out from the MESB and we changed emails when we used to do them in June and we and our big concern was well, how do we have we don't have a year's worth of data to set his goals for the next year. And then they explained that it had shifted where they want us changing mid not changing our goals mid year, but seeing if we're not meeting and we can actually adjust what we need to adjust so that we have a better chance of. So, is that we wouldn't be changing anything, but is that kind of the the reason

we would do it? We would start it next month would be so that we can see where we are end of the school year and what we need to change going into the next not change, but maybe adapt. Yeah. Adjust a little bit if something's not working for the next year. Is that kind of the thought? >> It it is. And one of the things um that the implementation team planned for is the first quarter of the first year to begin in January. So what they would be doing is maximizing the entire second half of the school year to begin as as Mr. Fischer very uh succinctly stated, there's no time like the present. So there's still a whole half of the school year where this key work which does represent some of the key

things that are already prioritized in the system can begin to be very clearly attended to and addressed so that you're that much further ahead. And it also gives you a little um starting point or runway into the next school year as you begin to do your budget planning and assess how you're use utilizing your your resources to plan for the upcoming year. So many school districts do it this way. It is not unusual to um have an approval at the midpoint and a start at the midpoint. You're welcome. Anyone else any questions? Okay. Well, thank you so much. >> Thank you. It's been a pleasure. Thank you. Have a good evening. >> Item nine, comments from the audience focused on today's agenda, and we have none. Item 10, approval of the general consent agenda items.

A, the regular meeting minutes of November 24th, 2025. B, finance committee meeting minutes of November 24th, 2025. Policy focus committee meeting minutes of November 24th, 2025. and D bills payable. A motion is in order. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Any oppose? Okay. Motion passes. Moving on to item 11, new business. A, human resource report. Mrs. Williamson. >> Thank you, Madam President. The human resources report this evening reflects an updated retirement notification from Mr. Bone Wagner, the onboarding of one new teacher for the high school, and the resignation of one GCEA member. So if there are no questions at this time, I recommend the board approve the human resources report as presented. >> Motion is in order. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any opposed? Motion passes. Item B, adoption of the strategic

P plan. Mr. Fischer. >> Madam President, thank you. Uh to begin, I want to thank Dr. Kaminsky for her good work. Julie, it was uh equally wonderful and inspiring uh to work with you as well. Uh as I shared, this was somewhat when we began a bit of an intimidating process because it was labor intensive. Uh and it includes a component of vulnerability, right, and self-reflection, but also reflecting on what we want for our kids and what we know our educators can do. uh exclusively positive experience, had wonderful feedback and participation from the community. As shared, we had numerous stakeholder groups, city council, board members, parents, students, teachers, administrators, central office cabinet members participate in this process. You our librarian, it was holistic of the community, which uh is refreshing and inspiring and it's what

we know. We know there's a huge investment in our schools and that the community truly gets behind us and the work that we do. Um so we we we charge our batteries with that as as we move forward thoughtfully. And again, I want to just uh thank Lieutenant Cover uh for his good work uh and his feedback and the participation of our first responders and for Nate, you know, to taking time out to joining us uh this evening. Uh certainly illustrates the commitment that we see from so many folks. Um, I thank the board for their thoughtful uh questions and I know that we had uh Mr. Mallaloy and Miss Rafie participate as did all board members either through the input sessions or the surveys and and then this through through our updates as we've

moved through this process. Um, as a superintendent I can't recommend MASB to guide this uh enough. I've shared with other superintendents who are considering this. Um, quite frankly, the only way to do it would be to engage this process with MASB, right? They they bring a quality product. They bring well-trained individuals. Uh, it's thoughtful, it's engaging, and the heavy lift you you've chunked it nicely. Uh, it's kind of like how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. And we got through it. And I can't believe uh we are here at the milestone of December 8th to bring it to the board. Um, so with that, my recommend recommended motion for the board of education would be that the Garden City Public Schools Board of Education accept and adopt the strategic plan as

presented by our MASP consultant, Dr. Julie Kaminsky. This of course includes our updated mission statement, vision statement, belief statement, and goal statements. >> Motion is in order. >> Any discussion? >> I have something real quick, >> Mr. Murphy. >> Um, I I would like to um kind of piggyback on what Mr. Fischer said. Like to thank everybody that was involved in the process. We hear administration here as board members. We hear parents and students that are happy about things, not happy about things, what they want to see, what they don't want to see, and then we never see or hear anything again. And this was a great opportunity for people to come out and tell us what they think about our district and what they want to where they want to see our district go.

and and I I was very grateful for the amount of people that either did the surveys or showed up for the meetings um and actually came in and face to face sat down discussed things got got it written down. So we we know what people are serious about and how they're feeling. Um I mean these and and we we encourage that you know we we ask for support for syncing funds and bonds and and you support us and we want you to know that we support you too. So, this was a great um this was a great opportunity to get to hear from people and let you know that we hear you. And um thanks to Dr. Kwinsky. It I have to say I didn't know how this was going to go with someone leading

it. And I never felt led. I never felt like you were telling us where our district should go. You let us community decide and you just put it all together. And it was a great process. I really appreciated what you did. Thank you. >> Anyone else? All in favor? >> Any oppose? Okay, motion passes. Item C, facility dog policy. Mr. Shaka. >> Madam President, thank you. Today we have before us a second reading of the board resolution, facility dogs, policy number 60003. Uh facility dogs are trained are dogs trained to work within school facilities and school events with children with a variety of academic, social, and emotional needs. Superintendent will promulgate an administrative regulation applicable to the use of facility dogs on school district property. Uh the administrative regulation follows as well as two pages

of host and handler agreements. Uh for context, I'll read the facility dog administrative regulation. The school district may allow one or more facility dogs for use in school district buildings and facilities. All facility dogs must be approved by the superintendent or designate. The building principal of the school where the facility dog will be permanently utilized. The host handler agreement signed by all designated host and handlers are maintained by the superintendent or designate must be in place for all facility dogs. For a school district purchase facility dog, an employee designated as a host or handler of the facility dog is not the owner of the facility dog and the school district may at any time remove or reassign the facility dog from a host or handler's care. At all times, any school district purchased facility dog

used for a building or facility will remain the school district property. At the conclusion of the school district purchased facility dog service, the school district will home the facility dog in accordance to the school district policies and practices governing the conveyance of outofuse school district property. The building principal shall notify parents on an annual basis regarding the presence of a facility dog in the school. U the resolution is as follows. That the Garden City Board of Education adopt the proposed board policy facility dogs as presented by the policy committee and read a second time today. >> The motion is in order to move to support. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> I. Any opposed? Okay. Motion passes. >> Thank you. >> Moving on to item D, the 2016 bond refinance. Mr. Wiznooki. >> Thank

you, Madam President. Garden City Public Schools has the opportunity to refinance the existing 2016 bonds as they become callable in early 2026, creating the potential to secure a lower interest rate. Attached is the resolution authorizing the 2026 refunding bonds unlimited tax general obligation prepared utilizing bond specifications provided by PFM financial advisors. The resolution authorizes the issuance of refunding bonds in a maximum principal amount of $8 million and provides for the establishment of the debt retirement fund, cost issuance fund, and escrow fund. The bonds will be supported by the district's unlimited taxing power and will be sold through a negotiated sale. The resolution also retains Stiffel Nicholas and Company Incorporated as the senior managing underwriter selected as the lowest bidder and authorizes the negotiation and execution of a bond purchase agreement and sale order. In addition,

it authorizes the district to enter into a continuing disclosure undertaking, sets forth the approved form of the bonds, and designates the bonds as qualified tax exempt obligations. Finally, the resolution authorizes the filing of the application for final qualification of bonds. Uh, it is my recommendation that the board of education approve the resolution authorizing the 2026 refunding bonds. Approval of this resolution will allow the district to proceed with the 2026 refunding process and pursu and pursue anticipated interest cost savings. >> Thank you. A motion is in order. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any opposed? Okay. Motion passes. That takes us to item 12, comments from the audience. And we do have one this evening. Uh Mr. Bennett, if you'd like to come to the microphone and speak, and we have three minutes. school board

executive committee and superintendent Fiser. My name is Alan Bennett. I serve as the theater director at Garden City High School. And I'm here for three brief points. I promised Jill brief. Um the first point is I want to thank you on behalf of the theater program and all the adult volunteers for your backing of the theater through the purchase of all the beautiful uh curtains, the stage curtains that are uh that are hanging and looking great. Um so again, we thank you for that. I know that it was not a cheap expenditure, but it will be something that last probably a few decades into the future. So, thank you again. Um, for those of you that were able to uh take in a performance of the diary of VanFrank, you did not see the stage

curtains working that much. I promise that'll change in the spring. Um, but for that type of show, we decided to use them uh more as barriers than as show pieces. Um, again, for those of you that were able to see it, hopefully it had a little bit of an effect on you. um as it did with a lot of the feedback that we've gotten from the community. Uh but I assure you as a educational institution, the effect of doing that show on the students, approximately the 37 students that were involved in that show had a much more deep meaning to them that will last them a lifetime. It all began when we visited on a Sunday morning at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills and just kind of took off from there. And I

think if nothing else, you would have to agree that if you saw one of the three performances that they treated the content with respect and the diligence and the love that it actually needed and required. And so again, I I appreciate your support in the theater program. And the last thing is we are trying to get off the uh the ground the very first ever Garden City Cities Got Talent talent show next Wednesday at 7:00 inside the Olri Theater. Auditions for anybody interested um will be next Monday, a week from tonight, between the hours of 4 pm and 900 pm. The qualifications are very basic. You have to be between the age of five and 105 and will have had to have some kind of connection through Garden City. Not just maybe passing by the

high school on your way to work, uh but certainly some kind of connection. Grandma, you graduated from the schools. We would love to have you. If there's any talent here in this room, I welcome you to uh to email me. So, we have posters. We're getting ready to dispatch all of that to the public and I would appreciate your support for that. So, once again, thank you and have a good evening. >> Thank you. Sounds exciting. >> It does. That was fun. >> Okay. Item 13, review and recommendations, superintendent, other central office administrators. Mr. Fischer. >> Madam President, thank you. Uh before I engage in commentary, I would like to request a close session for purposes of quarterly update on progress towards the mutually developed goals. >> A motion is in order to move. >>

Any discussion? >> Kathy, may we have a roll call vote? >> Margie Sanders. >> Hi. >> Lynette Childress. Hi. >> Joe Bter. >> Hi. >> Chase Malloy. Hi. >> Scott George. Hi. >> Sarah Ro. Hi. Jason. >> Hi. Uh, thank you. I'd like to thank Mr. Bennett and our theater crew for their production. As you know, it was a very moving and relevant production of The Diarian Frank. I'm glad the curtains are, uh, wellreceived. Thank you for that. I also like to thank Dr. Julie Kabinsky again, uh, our MASB consultant for her great work facilitating the strategic plan process. And a special thank you to all of the participants from across our community for their thoughtful input and unwavering support with this endeavor. We're happy to have an approved and new strategic plan that we

will execute starting in January. So, thank you for that. Uh board members, t the season, we're very busy coming up with lots of great things happening. Uh a couple things just to put on your reminder and on your front burner. Uh we do have a senior tower trip uh with our friends from the senior tower to the Wayne County Lightfest. That sort of annual tradition that we have. That's this coming Wednesday, December 10th at 6 PM we'll be leaving the senior tower. So, if you're interested in joining in, uh, please let me know. But I know I just spoke to Sandy today and they are very excited. We have two buses scheduled. We have some folks from uh, city council and the mayor's office attending as well. Uh, you certainly know you're welcome. Uh, also

this Wednesday, December 10th, we've got the combined Garden City Middle School Garden City High School choir concert in Olyri at 7 p.m. Following on December 11th, Thursday, December 11th, the Garden City Middle School Garden City High School band concert in Olirri also at 7 p.m. And dare I forget not forget the PTA Misch Mischief and Mistto event, third annual, I believe. That's this Thursday, December 11th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM hosted in the Garden City Middle School gym. We're looking forward to that. My understanding is Saint Nick and the Grinch will probably be making a appearance. Any comments at all from our cabinet team? Miss Williamson, >> I would just like to reiterate um what Mr. Fischer said. Thank you so much, Dr. Kaminsky. That was a lot of work and I think I can

speak on behalf of everyone involved. It was intimidating. It was a lot, but the way you presented it and broke it down for us gave us this product that we have before us that the board approved. So, thank you for your good work. We appreciate you. And with that, I want to uh wish the community a very safe winter break. We are uh you know, sort of on the heels of that winter break. Uh we are in school up until December 19th. Uh and then school will resume uh that first Monday, that first full Monday in January. So, we want to wish everybody a happy holiday season and a safe winter break. And our next regular scheduled board meeting will be Monday, January 12th at 700 p.m. And Garden City Middle School will be our

venue for that. Thank you. >> Item 14, reviewing recommendations. Anyone have anything? >> Okay. At this time, we will recess for our close session. >> Good. >> All right. Okay. Item 15, adjournment. >> Madame President, >> Mrs. Robin, >> I move that we adjourn. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> Any opposed? All right. Thank you, everyone.
