001All right, we'll call this meeting to order. It is now 6:00. If everyone please stand for the pledge of >> allegiance. Pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Uh Amy, would you please do roll call >> time? Brie Greybel here. Eric Schmidt here. >> Mark Moody >> here. >> Gerald Nichols >> here. >> Ken Worth here. >> Jamie Hullberger. >> All right. Um I don't have any remarks and I don't believe we have any guests to recognize. Um do we have any community comments at this time? >> Just one additional item from our committee of the whole meeting. I neglected to this is part of the discovery phase. One of the
002items that I didn't highlight was just required criteria. That will be another piece that we will be looking at in our group on the 24th is we're in that discovery phase and lost in the weeds. I want to just give props to the people that are volunteering their time to be um on this uh committee. Um there's a lot of work, a lot of time and effort involved and I really appreciate your willingness to be a part of it. So thank you. >> Also for please state your name when you uh Jason we know who you are. >> All right someone else >> Marie Wilkerson. Um I just a couple things. First of all, I was here for the committee meeting this week and pardon me today and last month and I know you're going
003through all of the policy. I get it. But one of the things I would suggest is that when you have new board members, NASD puts on a really good class and it's an all day. It's um CDA 101 and it just touches on anything and everything. The other one is the Open Meetings Act. that you might you know but those two if you ever have a chance I know they have a summer institute coming up which I think 101 is there but they have their conference in the fall they have other times that you can get on and I believe I'm not sure if 101 can be done online but a lot a lot of them can so you might want to look into that but it it is interesting go through the policies but
004your job is to set the policy which the Truan I you have Truan that Truan helps you do that and then you get it to fit ever and then you set that policy and then you hire one person to take care of all of the management and that's the end right now. The other thing I was a little disappointed. I went to the groundbreaking for the Ever Housing um commission um one day last week for the groundbreaking of the new apartments and the recreation facility that they're going to have. And it was really wonderful. Um, I was I was disappointed that some of you weren't there to represent the board of education, but um, it's a wonderful project. So, 36 new units are going in for affordable housing. So, people that come here to get
005a job will have a place that they can rent. So, I think that's a good thing. And lastly, um, I want to thank Bri. Bri happened to be at our board meeting this morning. She had taken her child and a friend to the camp that the ISD puts on summer camp and she was there in town. So, she just came over and was at our meeting. So, she was able to see uh a clip of a video that our welding program students put together to get a grant or a a fund from DeWalt and they won and they got $15,000, but it was it was really unique. So, I just wanted you to know I'm sure there are some Ever students that are attend the welding program. So, they're going to get $15,000 from DeWalt
006to get a few new tools and things that they'll need in their um classroom. >> Thank you. Anyone else? All right. At this time, we'll close community comments uh before we continue any further. There's a few things we need to add to this agenda and make changes to um first thing would be under uh section five, communication correspondence. We need to add a which would be personnel subcommittee report from Brie. We need to modify J which is on the second page, third page, excuse me, the third page. Um, from what it currently says to have it say recommendation to approve overnight stays for the varsity softball team on Thursday, June the 11th and Friday, June the 12th if needed. And then the last thing we need to add to it, this is an addition. It'
007be letter K. Uh recommendation to approve the minutes from the committee of the whole meeting held May 11th, 2026. Uh we need to start doing this because technically it is a open meeting. We need to approve those minutes from those uh meetings. So would it be possible to include that in with the minutes that as like a consent agenda to do both those minutes together or they have to be separate motions? >> We don't currently have a consent agenda. If we want to establish a consent agenda, absolutely those could be included under a consent agenda. >> So that might be something we want to do moving forward. >> All right. >> So tonight, but moving forward. Mhm. >> Would you like a motion to make those three changes? Yes, I would. >> So moved. >>
008I appreciate that motion. Amy, do I have a second? >> Thank you, Eric. Eric, a second. >> Any discussion? >> All those in favor of motion signify by saying I. I. Those opposed the same. >> Motion carries. Thank you. Uh, so communication and correspondence. Everything besides vote. >> So just a personnel meeting. >> Just a personel meeting. Go ahead. >> Sorry. For Mr. Moody first, but there's nothing for the secretary. Correct. Very good. >> Okay, let's go ahead. >> Well, just one thing. We we did receive communication. I believe it was since our last board meeting. The communication was sent anonymously and as part of this board, unless it's a signed communication, we don't share that communication. So, we did receive an anonymous communication from >> it hasn't been shared with the board or >>
009board. It's already been shared with each of the board members. >> Um, but it was sent anonymously. So, I I want to at least put on the record that we did receive communication, but it was anonymously. >> Okay. All right. The personnel meeting was on June 3rd, 206 at 12 p.m. Uh, Mr. Moody, Mr. Bergamont, Mr. Ber, and myself were there as the chair. There was no public comment. We did just a brief administrative review on leadership transitions and Dan shared that he met with most of the administrative team at that point for reviews and he had a few more yet um to wrap up. We discuss open positions including a career and college readiness counselor that will be focused here in the middle school, a foreign language position, um the CTE instructor. Um EPS
010has the above positions all open, the ones that I had listed there, and they um were currently working on hiring a new PE and health instructor, which is in the recommendations for board action this evening. Um, coaching positions in general were discussed current and future. Um, and there that led into some other um, discussions including like CA class advisors and how some of those roles are um, laid out for the district. Elementary specials were discussed, specifically the three that we have, gym, music, and WHAM, which is wellness, health, and movement. um and being able to um what exactly those involve and you know what they might look like in the future. And then other items um the board um spoke about the band boosters softball um and then potentially um there was discussion on what
011board terms look like and then there was a brief update on PFK and um in their program as well. So any questions on any of that? I think we also talked about EMS on the road not being going. >> Any other questions? All right, that's all I have. >> All right, anyone have any questions about the financial reports? Okay, moving on to action items. Uh recommendation to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held May 11th, 2026. So moved. >> Thank you Bri. I have a second support. Thanks Joe. Discussion. >> No discussion. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> Those opposed the same. Motion carries. Payment of bills. So we paying general fund, hot lunch fund, trust agency fund, and athletic fund. Do I have a motion to pay
012the athletic or to pay the bills? I'm sorry. I'll make motion. >> Thanks Eric. >> Support. >> Thanks B. Discussion. >> Discussion questions. Okay. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed the same. Motion carries. All right. Recommendation to approve Jessica Vanscoy as the varsity volleyball coach for the 20 2026 season. >> Okay. Mark second brief. >> Sure. Try to make it. >> No, you're fine. I'll I will second that. >> Okay. Thank you. Any discussion? >> All right. No discussion. All those in favor of motion signify by saying I. I. >> I. Those opposed the same. Okay. Recommendation to approve. Oh, first I should ask is um is Miss Dancoy in the audience? No. >> Lauren, I know that >> I have one idea. I wanted to
013that's my backup. Recommendation to approve. Now, moving on. Recommendation to approve Lauren Nazi as the eighth grade boys basketball coach. Some moved. >> Okay. support. >> Okay. He hear any discussion? Okay. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> Those opposed to saying >> Lauren, welcome. Congratulations. >> Thank you. >> By all right. Um, recommendation to approve Eric. I'm not sure how to pronounce that. as what >> as high school physical education health teacher. >> Okay. Wait a second. >> Sorry. >> Okay, Kim. Thank you. Discussion is here. >> All right. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. I. Those opposed same. Okay. Motion carries. recommendation to approve Emma Dyer as a pair professional. >> So moved. >> Thanks Bri. >> Thanks Harry. >> Discussion. >> Is
014she going to be in the high school? >> She's currently assigned as a one toone pair professional in the high school. >> Any other questions? All right. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed the same. >> Is she here by any chance? She is. >> Okay. All right. >> Recommend. Yeah. Recommendation to approve Eddie Gray as a seventh grade boys basketball coach for the 2026 season. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Support. >> Okay. Ken. All right. Discussion. All right. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed the same. >> Recommendation to approve. Levi Hallberger as the transportation director. Do we have to put SL mechanic because he's already a mechanic? >> He He's still the mechanic, >> right? It's
015a dual position. >> I didn't want any confusion with like now he's the transportation director. He's now the mechanic. >> All right. We'll leave it as director/mechanic. Um recommend >> 10. All right. Discussion. >> Yeah. I just want to make sure. So you kind of he wasn't a mechanic and he is adding the director of transportation on his additional duties. >> Correct. Okay. >> Being that Jamie's not here, she doesn't have to abstain. Correct. But >> we'll write right in the notes that Jamie Hollberger was absent. So she did not have to rest. She was absent from voting for put that in the notes. All right. Any other questions? If not, all those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. I. >> I. Those opposed the same. Motion carries. >> All right. Recommendation
016to approve not more than $100,000 for the purchase of a previously leased bus. Some >> move. Thank you. So I do have one question. >> Yep. >> So we're purchased on a bus that had been leased by someone else. Is that what this means? >> Okay. That's what I thought it meant. I just want to make sure. >> Yep. It's discussion. >> Yeah. Sorry. Yeah. Discussion. That's what I said. I had a question. Sorry. Discuss >> mileage. I mean, can you tell us anything about >> I can tell you it is a 2024 model. It has approximately 36 to 40,000 miles. Um, they've gone through it like on this checklist. They've checked like more things than I would think you could possibly check on a bus. Um, this includes the lettering, 6-in lettering specific to
017our district. Um, the total cost, um, I wrote the motion at $100,000 just in case something else comes in, but it looks like it's going to be quite a bargain at $83,000, including the lettering. And >> do we know where it came from? >> Um, Ken, we bought this through this guy that Howland Bus that we know. I don't think I have here exactly where it came from. Okay. >> As you know, some districts lease all their buses and then they get them rotated out. >> Oh, their bus is a big company. I >> um >> how many miles, you might not know this. How many miles typically do we put on a bus a year? >> Gosh, I don't know off any >> I'm just wondering. 36,000 doesn't seem like a lot to me
018for a bus. >> Well, especially if it was a city bus, too, cuz you're not getting a beating that country bus. >> It's not electric or anything like that, is it? >> Regular bus. >> Yellow. yellow regular size. >> You know, it might be if we kept the other school's name on the side. See that way? >> You wouldn't see us coming. >> Any other questions? All right. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed the same. So >> J, which is the one we modified. So recommendation to approve an overnight stay, overnight stays, excuse me, for the varsity softball team on Thursday, June 11th and Friday, June 12th. If needed, I'm assuming that if needed means if we win on Thursday, then we would need to stay.
019>> Correct. We first of all have to take care of business tomorrow night before any of this comes out. >> Yes. Yes. I'm not I'm just clarifying this now. I guess if we get to this >> so moved. >> Thank you. >> I'll second. >> Any discussion? >> Yeah. Why? What? Why do we have to vote on this? Is there a policy that says we have to vote on this? >> That's a great question, Mr. Moody. And you know what a policy wonk I am. Um, we have a policy here at Ever that all overnight field trips must be approved by the board. Now, is this a field trip? Maybe, maybe not. That could be semantics. However, it seemed to me that if the board felt by policy that it was important enough to approve
020overnight stays of students in some cases, it seemed logical that they would want to approve overnight stays in all cases. >> My recommendation is as a board we take a look at that policy. And I'm not so sure that the board should be voting on this. U Mr. Ber runs this district. if he feels that it's appropriate for the team to stay overnight in the hotel, he should be able to make that decision. It is very awkward for this board to decide tonight about dates when we haven't even played a game on Tuesday. We're kind of jinxing it to be honest. >> I mean, I made I made the comment that maybe after July one when the next technical school year starts, we board makes a action item to give him authorization to approve all
021overnight stays. >> Yeah. I mean, that's a change of policy, >> right? It's already on our July agenda to discuss. >> Mr. Brook, I had the same thoughts you did. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Any other questions? >> All right. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed, the same. >> Oh, sorry. Dan does MHSA provides you a like we have a block of rooms at this hotel that hotel. >> Yeah. So you can >> you'll be able to tap into those that block. >> Yep. They provide a discount if you're over 100 miles. There's a >> Yeah, we we're already working with them. >> And do they pay part of the cost of those hotels? >> If you're over 100 miles, >> how far are we? >> 113
02299.9. >> With the road construction, we got to go way around. >> Yeah. We gota go towards rec city. We go recent on 196 131. Exactly. >> All right. Um Hey, uh recommend to approve the minutes from our community of a whole held on May 11th, 2026. >> And those minutes were at your Yes. desk. >> Do I have a motion to do so? >> So move I'll move it. Okay. I'll second it back in. Discussion. Right. No discussion. All those in favor of the motion signify by saying I. I. >> I. Those opposed same. Motion carries. All right. Next section. Discussion items. Budget meeting June 26, 2026. >> Is that 5:00 p.m. or 6 p.m.? Is that 5? As mentioned earlier, I'll get out a summary of key differences from last year's budget to
023this year's budget for board members to review in nice easy laying language >> and that'll include your projected FTEES and I just project >> it at least it gives us something to start to digest before we get >> the big guesses. the big assets that we're making. >> Well, you're going to be doing the same thing on Friday. >> The state hasn't come out with their FT for student. >> They are not compelled to do that until after we make our budget. >> That's what I figured. I didn't know if they I didn't know since this was election. They got their horses in a row and did it early, but you can always questions. All right. Superintendent report, Mr. >> Um, we've had a couple resignations. Um, Miss Parcel is the most significant in this
024list. She's been our elementary principal. Um, she's done a really good job for us. Um, she rolled out a literacy initiative and did a great job with it. Um, she's moving on uh to a new opportunity and we have that position posted. Uh, also from the elementary, um, Miss McFersonson was our 31N social worker and she has left us and we are looking for someone to replace her. Mr. Numa was our eighth grade boys basketball coach, but he is now our varsity football coach. So, he's looking to step away from some of his other responsibilities. And we now have Mr. Nazi in that role. And Lexi Keithley has resigned as a middle school sideline chair coach. And that's all I have with that. Um the schoolbased health clinic highlights are in your packet. Um and
025then next steps with elementary literacy. We talked a little bit about curricular resources earlier tonight when we were at the committee of the whole meeting. Um IG+ was a curricular resource that that the board approved um that we've been working on. We're ready to take our next steps um with a comprehension piece and I'll be bringing it to you in July, but it will be a program called Bookworms. We've had a committee at the elementary work through a variety of different compre comprehension resources for the literacy program. This is the one they settled on. Um I'll talk to you more about it when I ask you to to approve the pilot for next year. Um but one of the things that like I like a lot about it is it uses authentic text. Um a
026lot of the literacy programs don't use authentic text. They create text to teach a certain concept. Um, this program uses books that that students already know of and teachers know of and you've heard of them, you know, um, Old Yellow, you know, um, books that are uh, common books and and much better written. Um, so it doesn't suck the joy out of reading like some of the created stuff can. And that's all I have for you unless the board has questions. >> I have a quick question. I just thought of it too. Um, so I didn't ask it in advance, but with the literacy program, she was full ever public school or iter was through the ISD. Correct. >> Are you talking about her consultant Heidi? Um, Heidi last year was completely through the moistd.
027the year before that she was just contracted with us and and moving forward we'll we'll see what >> what the situation is. >> Yes, it's likely to change again. >> Okay. >> Dan, are you aware this district used for school at any time? >> I don't believe ever. >> 24. >> Say that again. >> Forward school. Were we can you use school? No. We were skyward. As soon as we left like MS DOSs, we went to Skyward. Um >> I just see that there's a lawsuit out there when the policy got hacked when they >> from 2024 when all the data got hacked. >> Yeah. Um real quick, just want to make a let inform the board. Um our high school history teacher, Mr. Johnson and some students um little backstory uh person came to
028me downtown resident came to the DD and says that budget communities are doing this um I believe it's called salute America with activities for the 250th anniversary. So I kind of looked into it and what they want to do is they want to do a public reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8th at 6 PM just like it was done 250 years ago. That was the date that it was read publicly 250 years ago. So I went to Mr. Johnson. Talked to him. He's got some students lined up um to read parts of it. So, we're going to do a little activity or whatever program at the depot on that date um with these students to reenact kind of what obstacles or reenact what was done um 250 years ago as a >>
029So, is this through the city or through the school district? >> Through the through the city through the DDA. So, but I I wanted to get students involved with stuff and you know, so I reached out to to uh Mr. Johnson who of course but I just you know thought it' be kind of cool. We're going to have our students doing it. So if any of you want to attend just want to let you know >> you said it was on the 9th >> the 8th July 8th and then 6. >> All right. Thank you for letting us know. >> Yeah. So um at this point uh motion to adjurnn. Okay. Thanks Eric. Second. Thanks, Ken. Any discussion? All right. All those in favor of the motion by saying I. I. >> Those opposed the
030same. >> Okay. Motion carries. runner. And
