001Welcome to our organizational and regular board of education meeting January 12th, 2026. Let's stand up for the pledge. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> All right, roll call. [clears throat] >> here. >> Clement here. >> Collins >> here. >> Con here. Morris Nicholls. >> All right. Uh Nicholls is obviously absent, had a family commitment, and Mr. Morris has a work commitment. [clears throat] So, we're all aware of that. Um on to election of officers. [clears throat] Call for nomination for president. I nominate um Tim Morris um for president um for the 2026 uh board of education year. >> Any other nominations? >> We should have a second on that.
002>> A second on that. I'll second. Thank you. Any other nominations for president? >> All right, let's call for the vote. >> Clement, >> yes. >> Collins, >> yes. >> Randall, >> yes. >> Conn, [clears throat] >> oh, yes. I'm so sorry. [laughter] Barbara Garcia, >> yes. >> All right. It's awesome. Right. So, just because Mr. Marsh is not here, uh you're serving in this capacity as the highest ranking officer from the previous uh board here [snorts] and so you continue because he's not here. All right. >> Call for nomination for vice president. >> I'll nominate John Brando. >> I'll second. Any other nominations for vice president? >> None. Let's call for the vote. >> Barbara Garcia, >> yes. Collins, >> yes. >> Clement, >> yes. >> Con, yes. Randall, >> yes, [clears throat] >>
003I guess that is. That's what it sound like. All right. Uh, let's call for nomination for secretary. >> I'll nominate Jessica. >> I would second that. [snorts] >> Anybody else? >> Any other nominations? All right, let's call for the vote. >> Barbara Barbara Garcia, >> yes. Clement, >> yes. >> Collins, >> yes. >> Randall, >> yes. >> Con, yes. >> All right. Uh, treasure. Let's call for nominations for treasure. >> I nominate um Barbara Garcia for treasure. I can't think of her name right now. Britney, I do that you guys. I don't know what's wrong with me tonight. Britney, >> thank [snorts] you. >> I'll second. >> Any other nominations? >> All right, let's call for a vote. >> Collins, >> yes. >> Clement, >> yes. >> Con, yes. Brando, [clears throat] >> yes. >>
004Robert Garcia, yes. All right, we're on to number five. Well, it is January and that is board member recognition month. And so just want to take a moment to thank you on behalf of all uh those of us associated with Calonia School District for all of the service that you guys give on a day in dayout basis. All the uh phone calls you get from me and the uh all the email and the other stuff that I know goes on. It is a job that u you know is a fairly thankless job at sometimes but just appreciate your dedication and service to the district. And so we do have a little gift for you up here after the meeting that uh we'll get to you. But uh just want to just pass along those thanks
005to you and the leadership that you give. >> Thank you. Uh no student representative today for tonight. And uh number seven, public comment. Um we're going to do a two two section public comment. Uh first public comment is on the agenda items. So we don't have any for that. So we will call um on for the consent agenda. All >> [clears throat] >> right, guys. >> Anyway, all right. I I move that the board approve the consent agenda as presented. Um, just given that they weren't mentioned, do you want me to read them all? Yeah, that's what I thought. December 15, 2025 regular minutes. [laughter] The December 15, 2025 close session minutes. The January 7, 2026 committee of the whole minutes. the December 2025 payables, the January 2026 personnel report, the uh anticipated overnight trips
006for 2026. um that legal firms that may be retained as needed include Clark Hill PLC, Miller, Johnson, Snell, and Kamiski and through law firm PC to authorize the superintendent or designate to assume specified responsibilities of the board secretary to authorize the superintendent, assistant superintendent and chief financial officer or their design to sign checks, contracts, agreements, and purchase orders to authorize the chief financial officer or their designate as the district's electronic transfer officer and to authorize the use of the following financial institutions. United Bank, Fifth Third Bank, and Michigan Liquid Asset Fund Plus. Second I just want to say, [clears throat and cough] do I need to remove my vote somehow because I work for the bank? >> It's conflict be construed as a conflict of interest. >> It probably would be better if you abstained
007from this whole we could either pull that one off the consent agenda or we could just do the entire consent agenda and you just abstain. So we but we need you know right we only have four or do we have five? >> No we have five. >> Yeah. Okay. So I >> we're fine if you just abstain and >> the rest of it goes through. >> Okay. >> Oh me I'm first this time guys. Con I abstain. Brando >> yes. >> Barbara Garcia. >> Yes. Collins. >> Yes. >> And Clement? >> Yes. All right, on to number nine, superintendent report. All right, just a a couple of things for you tonight. Uh, as we've discussed previously, just uh want to again just mention we're uh looking forward to um trying to provide our parents across
008the district with as many opportunities as possible for early childhood. And so we're excited to um reiterate again, we announced right before break that we will be having a young fives classroom and a prek uh classroom which used to be known as 40-year-old preschool. Prek classroom at each elementary school and uh those prek classrooms will be run by uh Calonia Community Schools uh next year. And we will continue to have the tuitionbased uh prek or four-year-old programs as well as the three-year-old programs uh at the ECC. And uh if there is need for more than the five classrooms of prek, we will be adding that at the ECC as required. So uh really trying to provide parents with as many opportunities as possible, as many options as possible. And uh we hope that will make
009it easier for parents if those u classes are offered at their local elementary school where maybe their older uh children are already attending. Um and uh let's see, we also have the first semester drawing to close. Just want to wish good luck to uh our students on their exams. And then um in my report here tonight, I thought it'd be valuable if we moved the uh budget uh amendment review portion up here so that we when we get to the action items, we can just uh go ahead and get to voting. So uh here at this time, I'd like to ask Sarah to come up and have her go through uh her budget amendment presentation for you and answer any questions you might have. >> All right. So we're going to look at our first
010set of budget amendments for this fiscal year. We did discuss this at quite um length at our committee of the whole meeting last week. So just going to look at a highlevel um big picture tonight and um this will also be posted on our website um for anyone interested. So we adopted our budget for this fiscal year back in June and at that time um we didn't have a state budget yet. Um so that was unknown. We were anticipating flat enrollment and we were also included a 392 per pupil increase which was the governor's proposed um per pupil increase at that time. So since then the state's budget's been passed and now the per pupil amount is at $10,50. So I've included an increase of $50 for the per pupil um allocation and that's reflected
011now in the budget um fall enrollment. So the biggest funding source is with our state allocation. And so that's based on our enrollment. And looking at fall 2024 to fall 2025, we had an increase of 14.8 full-time equivalents uh students. And just wanted to note that um our shared time programming carried our um increase this year. So we're thankful for that and thankful for doing our shared time programming. So that is included in this budget. Another revenue um I wanted to highlight and I'm going to also highlight a little bit more on the next slide when we talk about our expenditures and that relates to our retirement state um reimbursements that also flow through our books and also flow through on the expenditure side. So it has a net zero impact but it is reflecting
012a 1.7 million increase um on both sides. So it's just a big part of our budget. We'll talk a little bit more in the next slide. There is an increase that's included for a 35mm literacy grant that was part of the state's budget and that is also on the expenditure side. And then what is not included yet is as part of the state's budget there's an allocation um with 27 L um that's associated to increase compensation that will also be in the revenue and the expense side. um it's not included yet. Um but that will come and be part of our June budget amendments. Then um what are some of those key expenditure um swings that we have included? As you know, the biggest part of our budget is in staffing. And so we have
013rightsized what we knew at the time in June when we adopted the budget with current staff that's here. And we've had a couple contract settlements since then with our teachers and administrators. So those increases are included. Again, this 35M literacy grant is also included on the expenditure side. Not included is that 27 L for um additional compensation from the state. That will be in June. Then this fourth bulleted item, [clears throat] it talks about that MPERS retirement that has to flow through our books both on the revenue and on the expense side. it's getting into um each district's books the unfunded acred liability. So for Calonia last year which ran through our books was 3.3 million. For this fiscal year that's increased um to 5 million. So you'll see that's an increase on our budget
014um both on the revenue and expense um of an additional 1.7. It's just a large amount that's flowing through our budgets. And so I think it's important that you realize that each each year and kind of what that amount is, [snorts] but again it has a net zero impact. >> So in essence, it comes from the state and it goes right back to the state. >> Correct. Just so it can get recorded onto our books. [snorts] So big picture, this is just looking at our revenues to expenditures and then our ending fund balance. So the column to the far left is our actual audited numbers from last fiscal year, the 202425 fiscal year. The second column middle is our adopted budget back from June. And then the um column to the right is our proposed
015amended budget for tonight. So we're looking at revenues of 74.3 million, expenditures at 75.5 million. So we're looking to pull 1.2 2 million from our fund balance, which would leave that at just over 13 million or 17%. And I'd like to note this is um I anticipate that we'll end the year a little bit better than this. Um trying to get a little bit closer budget to actual. Um so I anticipate that improving a little bit, but we are looking to pull a little more from fund balance at this point, but we're sitting in a good place. Are there any questions? [clears throat] >> Thank you. >> That's it for my report. Yep. >> All right. On to number 10. Action items. A 2026 board meeting schedule. >> I move that the board adopt the
0162026 meeting schedule as proposed. Second call for vote. [snorts] >> Barbara Garcia. >> Yes. Clement. >> Yes. >> Random. >> Yes. >> Home. Yes. >> Yes. >> All right. B. January budget amendments. I move that the board adopt the 2025 2026 budget amendment resolution. >> Second call for vote. >> Grand, >> yes. >> Cone, yes. Barbara Garcia, yes. Clement, >> yes. >> Collins, >> yes. >> All right. C. Sale of former Dutton Elementary property. >> I move that the board approve the purchase agreement to sell the former Dutton Elementary School property to the Kent Intermediate School District for $2,20,000 and authorize the superintendent to execute all necessary documents to complete the sale. [clears throat] >> Can is there any way Dirk you can kind of >> We need a second first of all and then
017I will be happy to do this. I was going to make a comment as well. >> Yeah. And then just Yeah. Just >> Yeah. So, let me just give an overview. We've talked about this a few times uh at these meetings and at our committee meetings. Obviously, we've had a number of discussions about this. Um so, we're really excited about this opportunity. Um the first of all, the purchase amount was based on appraisals that were independently uh reached. uh both the Kent ISD and the district uh had our each our own appraisals and the value of the property and those appraisals were literally within $2,000 of each other or something like that and so uh that was how we agreed on the purchase price. Um, and the uh great sort of win-win thing out of
018this is that the Kent ISD is intending uh to use that property for uh expansion of career and technical education uh in Kent ISD. Uh right now that programming all happens up on the East Belt line, so a little bit away from us. and they also are uh they they struggle to have enough spots available for all the students across the county who uh wish to take advantage of those programs. And so uh it has been a big push on the part of the ISD to expand that programming uh over the last couple of years. Uh they're really targeting by 2030 to increase that to they're looking to do have 10,000 uh CTE opportunities for students each year. And so, uh, this is a big part of that strategy and we're just really glad that
019this came together where, uh, this can happen right in our own backyard and make that really very much available, uh, not only to our students, but a lot of the students here on the south end of the county. Um so it's a very exciting opportunity um for us and uh there is a portion in that purchase agreement that if for some reason that falls that plan falls through and they don't end up using it for uh career and technical education programming it would come back to the board and we could decide whether we want to take that property back or um listen to whatever other plan they might have for it or whatever. So uh we're excited about this. they seem to be all uh systems go and they also have a board meeting tonight
020at which they are also considering the same thing. So um if the board approves this um purchase agreement uh they would be hopefully doing the same and then the closing date is March 31st as the um last possible date to make that. We're also looking at uh the potential for uh having people stop by one more time if they want to say uh goodbye to the Dutton school, but uh we will provide more information about that when and if this uh agreement happens and uh based on all that's going on. >> So, I got a couple questions and I know we talked about a little bit on Wednesday. Um do they plan on tearing the building down and starting over or you don't know that part yet? >> Yeah, that's my understanding. uh that building
021uh is not really uh conducive to or set up for uh CTE programming. They are uh looking to emphasize flexibility in their spaces. That's one of the things that's a challenge for them right now at the East Belt Line campus is some of the um the way that building is uh built and structured. Uh as programs change and new things come along, they're they're struggling a little bit with creating the spaces to handle that. And so they're going to be looking to try to put up a facility that will be uh have flexibility at its core. And so uh they are going to begin almost immediately is my understanding uh the visioning process for that and the design for that facility so that they can uh get going on construction here fairly soon. And then
022one other question um I know we talked about this on Wednesday too, but so you said that um if they end up not using it for what we sold them as the purpose I was thinking we just got it back. I don't know why. >> Yeah, we we we could take it back. It's in there that we >> take it back. You're saying we could purchase it back? >> Yeah, we would have to give the money back. >> Okay. Okay. So, we would give the money back. Take it back and then we could sell it to somebody else for a separate purpose. >> Correct. If we wanted to, but let's hope that that doesn't happen because it will be very nice to have a CTE center just down the road. >> Right. Okay. Just I
023just wanted to make sure I was I understood how that transaction would take place. >> Correct. It was just to make sure that we protected the district and that something [clears throat] that doesn't happen the way it's intended. >> Yeah. And I would just add to that, I wanted to really thank you for your um stewardship of this project and figuring out um a a plan for this space that I think is um both minimizes risks that we were potentially concerned about that could be associated with having this land um within the district that could potentially be in some ways maybe harmful for enrollment. And I think that um not only did we minimize or or you know merely eliminate that risk which is amazing um we have also um found a way to uh
024obtain a huge gain in terms of increasing CTE programming in the area and I just think that that is fantastic um not only for students in our district but um you know throughout this southern region of Kent County. So I think that's wonderful and I just really thank you for your your efforts here and uh figuring out this creative solution really has so many benefits. Well, thank you for that. And again, I just really thank uh Ken ISD, their partnership and their leadership in this area. As we know, this has been a a big emphasis in our district uh to try and expand these kind of opportunities for students and the ISD has been all over it really uh trying to make this happen. Uh and so just really glad that this all yeah could
025come together as it did. >> Any other questions or comments? [clears throat] Call for vote. River Garcia, >> yes. Allens, >> yes. >> Clement, >> yes. >> Phone, yes. Grand, >> yes. >> D. Calplex field lighting bond 2023. >> I move that the board approve the purchase of the field lighting package [clears throat] from MUSCO Sports Lighting for $214,972. second. So once again, I'll just uh point out that uh this uh was part of what we discussed with the Cowplex um project, but by purchasing this independently, uh the district saved significantly on the on the cost of this and rather than running it through some uh one of our contractors who would put a markup on it. And so therefore we uh we save taxpayers [clears throat] money on this purchase. >> Other questions? Call
026for vote. >> Collins. >> Yes. >> Clement. >> Yes. >> Con? Yes. Brando? >> Yes. >> Barbara Garcia? >> Yes. >> On to E. Lawn and Landscape contract. [clears throat] >> [snorts] >> I move that the board approve a five-year contract with Zoet Services LLC for weekly lawn and landscape services at a firstear cost of $81,560. >> Second. >> Any questions for vote? >> Comment. >> Yes. >> How? Yes. >> Brand. >> Yes. >> Con. Yes. Robert Garcia. Yes. >> All right. On to F. Neiola policy updates. First reading. >> I move that the board conduct a first reading of the following board policies. 0172 Legal Counsel 1422 Non-discrimination Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-harassment. 1422.02 to delete non-discrimination based on genetic information of the employee. 1623 section 504 ADA prohibition against disability discrimination in employment.
027662 to delete anti-harassment curriculum development approved courses 2260 non-discrimination and access to equal education opportunity 2260.01 01 section 504/ADA prohibition against discrimination based on disability 2266 non-discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities 2412 homebound instruction program 3122 Non-discrimination equal employment opportunity and anti-harassment 3122.02 O2 to delete non-discrimination based on genetic information of the employee [snorts] 3123 section 504/ADA prohibition against disability discrimination in employment 3362 to delete anti-harassment 4122 non-discrimination equal employment opportunity and anti-harassment 4122.02 O2 to delete non-discrimination [clears throat] based on genetic information of the employee. 4123 section 504/ADA prohibition against disability discrimination in employment. controlled substance and alcohol policy for commercial motor vehicle CMV drivers and other employees who perform safety sensitive functions. 4362 to delete anti-harassment. 5517.01 Bullying and Other Aggressive Behavior. 7540.02 Digital Content and Accessibility 83
02883000 Continuity of Organizational Operations Plan and 8305 information security. >> All right. Yeah, we went over these events. Need a second. a second. All right. Sorry. Second. >> Second. [clears throat] >> We went over this Wednesday. Um there's a lot to go through there. So any uh >> I'll just make a couple of comments just uh for general information. There are a number that say delete next to them and that's because they are being folded into uh some of the other policies. And so, uh, in an effort to streamline the policy book, uh, this is the approach that Neola is taking is to any of those that you see with delete, they're typically being folded into the one that ends with 22 in the same um set of numberings within that group. So, that's the
029biggest thing. And again, this is a first reading, so we will uh talk about these again next uh month at committee and then bring them back uh to the regular board [clears throat] in February. Could you also just provide a brief explanation of why there is multiple policies with the same name in different sections? >> A great comment. Uh there is within the way our policy book is set up in the 1,00 category. Uh anything with a one in front applies to administrative personnel. Uh anything with a two in front uh deals with our overall program. With a three in front deals with our certified staff, so essentially our teaching staff. and then with a four in front. Those deal with our non-certified staff or our support staff. So that's why there are different policies.
030It's the same policy, but we need one to apply to administrators and one to apply to uh certified staff and one to apply to non-certified staff. So that's the biggest thing and thank you for asking that question. I'm sure it's a frequently asked question because people are really into learning about these policies. [snorts] All right, any other questions? comments. >> I just have a comment. I know um a lot of the um revisions that were done by Niola happened because you've got some state and federal laws that are both need to be abided by and so um you know things were removed or added or whatever just to satisfy both um and not put us in a um bad situ like a a bad situation where we're not abiding by both of them or none
031of them or whatever. So anyways, I just wanted to add that that was part of the um language in there. So >> Brando, >> yes. >> Cone, yes. Nicholls, oh >> Barbara Garcia, >> yes. >> All right. On to number 11. Discussion items. Anticipated board consideration February 9th, 2026 meeting. Hey, classroom audio video upgrades. [clears throat] Good evening. Uh the 2023 bond issue uh included a three-phase project to replace the classroom AV equipment in all of our buildings. Uh last summer of 2025, we completed phase one which included Cal, Emmens Lake, Paris Ridge, and the ECC. Uh phase two is slated for this coming summer and will include work at Kettle Lake and the high school north campus. Uh the equipment in those two buildings are in the 7 to 8 year old range and
032that is the expected life expectancy for those. Uh so that's why we're looking to do those buildings next. Uh the equipment will include a new projector which will have a laser um projection instead of olds which is far more economical and they last longer. Uh we'll replace their audio amps and that will include a lanyard mic that will also amplify the teacher voice should they choose to use that. Uh they will also have wireless presentation capabilities which is something new that we're adding to classrooms as part of this uh bond project and they will also get new document cameras. Uh the second part of this particular bid is the low voltage cabling which will connect the projectors and the wireless display systems to our data network. Uh the bins will be opened on January 21
033and we anticipate coming back to the board for approval in February and phase three will be the following summer of 2027 and last Wednesday I left the building off that list. Um, so at Craft Meadows [clears throat] is the one I forgot to mention. Duncan Lake and the high school south campus. Okay, any questions? >> Network switches B. >> All right. And this goes um along with the classroom AV project. Um these will be switches that will allow us to connect those devices uh on the network. And we bid this separately because these devices are eligible for the federal e-ate reimbursement program and that has a whole lot of additional bid um requirements. So that's why we put this out separately. Uh if we um approve this and purchase these switches, they will be eligible
034for a 50% reimbursement and that bid opening is also the 21st of January with the anticipation we would come back next month um to get approval on that and that is also a bond funded project. >> Any questions? >> Thank you. >> [clears throat] >> C custodial equipment purchase. >> If I could pardon me, [clears throat] digress for a brief moment, I wish to from the operations department uh express our gratitude for the wonderful things that the board has supported for our department over the years. And we do appreciate uh in this board recognition month, the work that you do and supporting the district, especially operations and transportation, which I'm also here there for. on to this. Uh the operations department is recommending the addition of a commercial-grade autonomous vacuum to the workflow plan for
035the Calonia High School. We have uh consistent and persistent labor challenges uh cons considering we have multiple position openings uh year round um in the custodial ranks. A robotic solution offers a path to consistent cleanliness and significant long-term cost potential cost savings. By automating floor cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, uh we can relegate our custodial staff to higher priority cleaning and sanitation tasks that improve the health and safety of our environment. Um, when reviewing my notes from the presentation at the committee, I did notice uh that I definitely misspoke an answer to a question which I'd like to correct now. The question regarded how much time a day we are spending vacuuming. Um, did some talking, did some following up. We are not actually spending six hours a day, one person doing vacuuming. Should we be potentially?
036Yes. Because what we're doing is we're diverting the time of those custodians to those higher priority tasks. And I can tell you as the operations director who's in the schools all the time, we don't have clean floors and we need to have better clean floors. But we are cleaning bathrooms, we are cleaning classrooms, we are cleaning desk surfaces, we are cleaning the things in the hightouch environment that we need to clean, kitchens, sporting venues, um, etc. I made reference in the committee meeting to the number of events and classes and enrichment programs that we are uh experiencing right now. Um it is an all-time high. For example, this weekend um between Saturday and Sunday we had 14 events, 11 on Saturday, three on Sunday. Uh the wrestling event alone had 1,600 extra people in the
037high school. Um, and yes, 1600 people using bathrooms requires a lot of cleaning. Um, a lot of locker room cleaning. We use every single locker room space there. Um, we use every single parking space and quite a bit of the grass uh to accommodate this. So, there's a lot of a lot of work and a lot of trash and and things that needed to be cleaned up. And yes, other things weren't cleaned because of that. Today, Monday, January 12th, we have 27 rental programs and enrichment programs that are outside of the school day. These are things that happened after the bells rang. Um, so we have a lot going on tonight. Tomorrow we have 29. The lowest night this week is 14 and that's Friday. And we have a full house coming this weekend as
038well. So, we are utilizing our custodial staff a lot of hours and a lot of time and we would like to devote them to better things to cleaning the things that really need to be cleaned uh with human involvement versus sweeping floors. Um the high school staff um has been currently working outside of the high school because of events and because of of things that we have going on and staffing at both Craft and Duncan. So, we're we're extending those five and a half hour people, 5.75 hour people into eight hour people uh with overtime to fill in for the people that aren't there. So, this is an opportunity to take one task away from our custodial staff, put it in the hands of an autonomous unit, um and allow them to to do better
039things with their time in terms of cleaning what really needs to be cleaned and allowing us to get our clean floors in this at the same time. This does not replace a custodian, okay? This is a one-time investment that continues to just grow and pay in the years forward. So, we're not taking $30,000 a year out of our custodial salaries. Um, at this point, I have underspent in custodial salaries, well over 30,000 because of the openings that we have. >> [snorts] >> So, while I openly encourage and publicly encourage people to apply for those jobs, it would be awesome. If I could put human beings in every one of those jobs today, I would certainly do it. And I would still want something to vacuum the hallways while they were doing the the better cleaning
040for the 27 events that we have out there this evening, this afternoon that are going on in classrooms, in auditoriums, in gyms, and things like that. So, we are definitely recommending if there are any questions about the unit, um, about what it can do, what it can't do, um, what's different between the one that we talked about last year at $38,000 versus this one at $29,000, there's a huge price gap there. So, there's definitely some potential capability differences. I welcome those questions. I would love to answer them um, you know, for the next committee meeting and we'll uh, we'll move forward from there. All right. Any questions? >> I got I just have one question and it's somewhat related, but when you look at the uh rental of facilities, those that we do actually charge
041a rental fee for, how often do we review what we charge and if it's adequate? >> The last time we reviewed that was actually two years ago. Um it [clears throat] is due for another review. We have spoken about that. Um and I believe there's something upcoming. Um adequacy is always a challenge. um what do you charge you know the public? What do you do you you have groups that we don't charge at all? We have groups that we charge you know substantial amounts and it is time for another review against uh a lot of what our neighbors are doing. So we know we need to do that. >> Any other questions? >> That's on the docket for the end of this year heading into next year as a question. Mhm. >> I just want
042[clears throat] to say that I appreciate you exploring alternative opportunities given that we have had these staff shortages and wanting to present our facilities in the best possible light for our district and for those that we welcome into our district um and in order to allow our staff to be able to kind of perform at the top of their capabilities. So, appreciate that. Thank you. >> We have a great staff. They are fantastic. We have some people that work for us that I I would not trade if if I could. I would love to keep them. We have a number of them are thinking about retirement and they're going to be very hard very difficult to replace. >> Hey Matt, what what time of the day is this thing running? >> Overnight. >> Okay. >>
043It would start it would start later in the evening. I obviously it's not something that if I have a gym full of seventh and eighth graders at the high school that I want this unit zipping around because Yeah. >> It's just >> we know that one. >> It's just hallways, >> right? I just pictured with kids there. Yeah, >> someone's going to write it or something. [laughter] >> They'll try. >> Yeah, that's if anyone is interested. If anyone is interested in the sponsorship, they do sell they do sell packages where we could, you know, get some naming on it, get some naming rights, some, you know, some some some bling on the machine. So, >> all right. Thank you much. We appreciate it. on to number or s sorry D other items. Nothing else at
044this time. All right. >> 12 board comments. >> I just wanted to say um thank you to Dirk. It's a [clears throat] little embarrassing. I left the meeting on Wednesday and my car wouldn't start. So, um thank you for he he stuck around and my husband came and they both worked on my car and so far it's not an electrical issue. We thought maybe it was a logical issue, but um very nice that a superintendent would stick around and just make sure that I got home. >> It just took longer and we had to call your husband because I didn't have my jumper [laughter] cables. That's the problem. >> And now I have jumper cables in my car. >> Oh, good. >> Just in case. So, I did I'm prepared now. Um and then the
045second thing I just wanted and by the way, my husband said, "Make sure you think Durk." So, that's why I'm also making sure I do that. Um and then I just want to again talk to the board. thanks for my first year. I um really think that we're a great group and that we can uh sort things out and work together and we all again want the best for Calonia and I'm honored again to serve as your secretary. So um just again just wanted to make sure you guys knew that not only does the school appreciate us, I appreciate um all of you and serving with you. So >> anybody else? All right, on to 13 public comment. We have I'm gonna kill this. Kathleen >> Petus. >> Yes. All right, come on up to
046the mic and I am a Y member and I find your facilities for the locker room and the swimming pool aren't really doing what I need them to do. Um, I've only been about five different times and each time the water in the public or the family pool is just so cold and the locker rooms uh are just not conducive to [snorts] uh no racks to hang your towels. The towels in the shower if you they get wet because the spray gets them wet. Um the benches out in by the swimming pool are usually wet and you have no place to hang your towels. So your towels get soaked. Um it and then you have to push the button every 30 seconds or a minute to continue with your shower. And uh it it's I
047I don't use the family I tend to use the the regular ones, not the family lockers. But it's just there's no place to put anything. No place to hang anything. No, even by the pool, uh, you know, like a hook to hang your towel and your bag. Um, when you take it out, there's nothing. And so the only place is that wet bench and and then no hooks. There's a hook in the shower thing, but it get anything gets wet. And then there's, you know, you try [laughter] where where's your towel? It's it's somewhere out there. And you're trying to shower and you come out and, you know, there you are. And and there so it it just is not uh really a good situation for us older folks. So I um that's all I
048have to say. I'd like some hooks. >> Thank you. [laughter] >> Thank you. All right. On to number 14. Adjournment. >> Motion to >> second. Do a voice >> do vote. >> Hi. >> Thank you. 646 official. Okay. >> Thank you.
