I call please rise and pledge allegiance. >> I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> I'll be opening hours read the district mission statement. In partnership with the community's mission of the Delaware school district is to educate individuals and partner with trust and respect so they can self-direct responsible lives. We'll call the roll again. Um all board members are here. Whitney? Um Mr. Conklin present. And yes, this one. Agenda review and meeting minutes. Any changes? Uh there's a motion to adopt the agenda as presented. >> So moved. >> It's by Angela. Do I have a second? >> Second. >> Are there any questions or discussion? Hearing none, I'll go ahead and

say I. I I. Oh. Motion carried. I vote I. Uh the Rebel recognition. >> Uh one thing I do want to say about Rebel recognition, I know we're going to try to move to the next meeting. So during my report, I was just going to talk briefly about the senior awards assembly that was last Friday morning. Uh so congratulations to all those kids who got scholarships, etc. Just a great event and just so again, congratulations to them. Um is there a following act to that? I have a graduation to go to this week. So I just want to say that. And that's yeah, and and spring is crazy. So as we get into um our next board meeting, I guess we'll get into the playoffs that we can talk about sections and all those things

for our all the activities that are happening. >> Yeah. Thanks everyone for a great year. We can let think our board 26th, right? So all of these school year all these Yeah. So just >> French ones and all of these school areas. So, good luck to all those teams and good luck. >> All right. We're going on to number six, reports. Uh business manager report. I think um we just have uh um what's filed in our packet. And if you have any questions from from Marcus, please let him know. >> Yeah, Marcus, just because we knew we had a because of the conflict, I'm going to go a little quicker tonight. Uh he did send an email, so if you get a chance, read the email. But, if you have any questions, he said just

to please answer or respond to any emails. >> Okay. We're on to 6.2, DGF Foundation. And you have a chance to hear from the foundation. So, thanks so much for coming. >> Hi. I'm Melissa and this is Amy and we're all trustees of the DGF School Foundation. So, first um I asked Shannon to put us on the schedule to familiarize you all with what we've been doing for a few years now. So, a group of parents started the DGF School Foundation as a way to get more funds, as you all know, funds are tight, and get more funds to our school and help students, teachers, everyone in the DGF Middle School District. So, it's been uh a labor of love of a lot of people that have come together. We are a fully 501c3 through

the state of Minnesota. We have our things set up. We have, you know, some money that has been coming through and some money that has gone out. Um we received our first grant this last year, the elementary grant for the laptops or computers. So, we got that. So, we've been moving, we've been getting started. Um I've learned it takes a lot of work to get a new foundation started versus working something that has already been in the works for 10 years like PTAs. So, um and you know, kind of share that message that we're sending. So, I give you all a packet of information so you can have it for reference material, um a list of our school board, your school foundation board, and um we have, you know, a great group of people that

dedicate their time once a month, and you know, we all come together, have ideas, um put stuff together, and make sure that we try to move forward with um fundraising and doing what needs to be done. And again, Trent has been a great resource. Um you know, we're all parents. We're not teachers, we're not in the school, we don't know what happens. He's been our resource as to what needs to happen in the school. And so, um and one thing you'll notice on this front sheet here is that we just at our past meeting decided that it would be great to have a representative of a teacher on our board. And so, we would be looking for current or retired teacher to sit on our board, non-voting, but as a as a influential voice to,

you know, bounce ideas off and everything. So. Um so, our mission, you know, is to inspire community giving and to get resources to the school. Um we're going to be starting with a DGF school foundation founding letter, and that will be delivered hopefully soon to everyone in the community asking to be a founding member of our foundation and to help the district in any way that we need. On the second page of my handout, we've um set up areas of impact to make a real difference. And so, those are the areas that our board has decided we would like to um help DGF school district in each of these ways. Um and so, those are what we feel are important to, you know, help teachers, help students, um and help moving forward in a lot

of things like technology or scholarships or anything like that. So, um we did partner with the DGF app Dollars for Scholars. Um that was something that was actually a group of parents that was running the Dollars for Scholars and they were no longer interested in continuing that. It was a lot of work. It is a lot of work. And so, we took that on and we now have a separate board for the Dollars for Scholars that runs that and does and continues the applications for the scholarships and that money the $400,000 that was in Dollars for Scholars didn't go over our district because if they would have not continued, it would have gone somewhere else and not to any DGF students. And so, we we held onto those funds and our board and this DGF

Dollars for Scholars board has continued to um work the scholarships in 2026. So, I think we have like 34,000 worth of $1,000 scholarships. >> Yeah, they were a big part of the uh program on Friday. So, Matt Owen to Louise's point, it was Matt and >> Matt and Sarah. >> Oh, and Sarah was up there with them. Yeah, I think it was 30 something thousand dollars they gave out. So, that was >> Yeah. >> Wow. >> Yeah, so that when that was brought to our attention when we were starting this um school foundation, we really wanted to make sure we didn't lose those dollars for our students. So, um So, as you all know, you're on the school board, you know that the school are facing um you know, funding limits funding and so that's

where we want to make the connection for community and businesses to be able to donate to a non-profit and yet, you know, businesses especially need that um expense for their business on the donation and how can we benefit more kids, right? We all give to football and basketball and volleyball, but how can we get all the students within the district and not just the ones that are enrolled and have a great program that do all of these things? So, um let's see here. Any questions? Um otherwise, we're you know, we're still we're still working through how to fundraise for how to get our outreach to the community and you know, and also how to make sure what is important to other families in the community is important to us. You know, we're if you see

the impact guidelines, you know, we all love all the activities in the school, but we really want to focus on the things that don't get funds. You know, I think a great example a few years ago was the robotics program. They went to state. The community came and rallied and fundraised for that. And that's exactly what we want to, you know, be there so that the community can do that, but we it's not on an as-needed basis, you know, and it's emergency and it comes right away. So, and you know, how can we help the classroom? How can we help other programs? How can we help the, you know, students that are in need? All that stuff is what has been in our minds for that. Um let's see. We are So, I guess for

you guys, how can you help us and how can we help you? Um is kind of what we wanted to or I wanted you to speak here today is how we can partner and, you know, one, letting you know that we are a safe we are here. We're we're starting to do work. We are. We want to help. And and then also, if you have anyone that, um you know, would be a great fit fundraising or, you know, sitting on a board or anything like that, you know, we're always looking to get more people on our board or volunteers or anything like that. So, also and Brittany um No. Sorry. Too many. Um yes. >> Did you know? >> Yeah, yeah, thank you. She actually was the one who let us know about the grants.

And so then we were able to apply for the grants with her help. And so, there's any grants that you guys see or know about, you know, as a non-profit we can definitely use that that funding um guide that can help with that um with that money funds. >> So, I guess I'll just say this too because obviously we've been a part of it from the beginning too is that just like anything trying to get it started is a process. Uh working with the state of Minnesota is its own process which I also know. But, I just I want to appreciate you guys your consistency and and it's taking a while or it has taken a while. But, this is just something all school districts need to some capacity. I guess just from my my

chair is that I always want to see staff be innovative and look at what's missing, what could be. And when those opportunities come, this is where foundations go, right? The school maybe can't fund a great initiative that a staff member or a team of staff members have come up with. But, a foundation then once established can step in and say, "That's where we can shine, right? Or that's where you can support." >> Yeah. >> And so, I'm really excited about that for the future. And it's like anything, yep, let's start slow but slow and steady wins the race, too. And eventually it'll be it's going to be a significant impact hopefully for the staff. >> Yeah. >> And our school, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I just really appreciate what you guys are working in

you even when it's slow and when it's frustrating, it matters. So, I just again, from my chair, I just want to say thank you for what you're doing. And I know what you do for your brothers, cuz we didn't have our meeting yesterday. Uh we're having it next week, so thank you again. Just really appreciate it. >> Yeah. No, that's And that's really We just want to make additional contributions for staff and our students. And at the end of the day, we're parents. We also have seen what teachers do for all of our students, and so that makes a big impact. And we just want to stand up and really help. Along side. So, I gave you the information. You can We do actually have a website that's, you know, linked with the district. We're

trying to get more information out there, and hopefully you'll hear from us a little bit more as we get out into the community and send out our fundraising requests. But, we also love to hear from you guys if you think of anything. You guys know us, so. >> The one thing that we will be asking, I think, um later this summer, is maybe some help and support in getting the word the word out if we decide to go forward with that. >> Yeah. >> That would be another voice for us to help our If you guys can help with that, I think that's something we can ask. If you have that with these things today. >> Great partnership. Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> We'll go on to 6.3, board committee reports and

budget reports. >> Uh so, after our last last board meeting, we did have a budget budget meeting. Myself and Marcus are here. We got a couple of things we talked about. We talked about the land swap, land swap commercial land. What aspects that we have district, and what kind of that look like. The biggest part of what we spend is consulting with the budget committee on what what does that look like, and how are they how are they going to put it all together. So, Shannon and Marcus kind of walked walked through the entire budget on how they're coming up with the numbers, where it's at, and what else is going on. And I explained some assumptions that they are they are making because again it is a it is a budget. We looked at

our we looked at our final final the final budget put together which still shows an operating operating loss. Uh there's there's been some significant challenges here with the money that's coming in from from the state that that we know about. And then just our kind of the the moving student student number of where they're where we're going to be at and what that's going to going to look like. Lastly, just you know, talk about Lake Agassiz Lake Agassiz and what that can add add to our budget kind of help with that deficit. And then talk about some title funds that won't be coming in and how we manage that. >> Yes, sir. >> The executive board made Thank you very much. We'll move on to 6.4 superintendent report. >> Yeah, and tonight again just uh

respect for time and a concert coming up. Just the senior banquet we talked about and what a great event it was. Graduation I think we have that figured out now that it's making a payment that we'll be there. Uh and then the balloons for graduation which will be great. Uh And uh what else? I'm just going to keep it there unless you have questions for me. >> Any questions for Shannon? >> Okay. >> All right, we'll move on to 7.1. This is to approve the regular meeting minutes for April 27th, 2026. Do we have a motion? >> So moved. >> Motion by Corey, do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Second by Shannon. So are there any questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Opposed? Motion

carries. On to the consent agenda, uh 8.1 is to approve bills for May 2026 in the amount of 9,477 dollars. >> Do I have a motion to approve this? >> All right. >> Yeah. Um the treasurer's monthly budget report uh to approve that and file for audit. >> Are you going to package it? >> And that's all I have to say. >> Do I have a motion? >> I move. >> Motion by Laura, do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Any questions? Any questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Motion carries. >> Um 9.1, this is to approve a certified contract for Kittelson Middle School special education teacher, B.A., step four, effective the start of the 2026-2027 school year. >> Do I have a motion to

approve this? I move. >> Motion by Laura, do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Second. >> Any questions? Any questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Motion carries. >> 9.2 is to approve a certified contract for Gil Berty Middle School special education teacher, M.A., step five, effective the start of the 2026-2027 school year. >> Do I have a motion to approve >> Motion by Laura, do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Second. >> Any questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Motion carries. >> 9.3 Um we have the class list for 2026 to 2027 school year. >> How many is it? >> It's 127. >> 127? >> I don't think I know what we're talking about. Quick

count, um it's it's over 100 this year. Shoot, I didn't know the number. >> Brooke, you know what I mean? >> Yeah. >> It's over 100. >> All right, do you have a motion to approve this? >> Motion by Laura, do I have a second? Any questions or discussion? All those in favor say I. This is to approve the meal prices for fiscal year 2027. Elementary breakfast free, elementary lunch free. Secondary breakfast free, secondary lunch free, adult breakfast $3.75, adult lunch $5.75. Extra entree breakfast $2, extra entree lunch $3, extra milk $0.65, vending snacks $1.75, vending drinks $2. $2.30 cents. Revenue Any questions or discussion? Yeah, this is it's all based on the state cuz they kind of set the prices and then we Yeah. Yeah, and they kind of go off of that with

their recommendation. The one thing is the extra milk and you'll notice their milk there is next. The milk there is just a touch higher than it's been in the past. There's a list of reasons why, but it's still only $0.65, so it's not a major change, but Shannon has a little list and I'll share with you the update so he can explain it. >> State sets vending machine prices. >> No, that but that's based off the other numbers so then she takes it off that. That's a good point. The vending snacks she sets that. Yeah. And that is based on what I guess I don't know this year what it was. You guys know what it was last year or last night what it was so I didn't No. The The food service Shannon sets

those vending prices for them. Yeah. Does that go into the Benny? So those different terminals, yeah. Yeah. Um as it sits right now, yes. It fits under their I guess I'm going to say jurisdiction, but it gets inspected by the state. That's how it's been set up so far. Again, that any machine we have a lot of conversation of prices one, but the other thing is what it can Yeah. And that would be a policy issue. So it's something we can definitely look at. If the board wanted to make some changes there. Yeah. >> Any other questions or suggestions? Hearing none, are those bids the same or not? >> I have both. Motion carries. >> Are they the same or not? >> I'm just saying this is where the milk bid was cast play purposely

here 2019. >> Do I have a motion? >> So moved. >> Motion by Mr. >> What was that? >> Second by Laura. >> Any questions or discussion? >> Okay, so what happened here is 10 Finn, you guys know that they had 10 Finn out of Onondaga. They have he did not bid it because they are going in a different direction. He didn't say exactly what they're going to do, if they're just going retail or if they got some other contract or something, but they are not going to contract with the school anymore. So something changed on the farm and what he decided to do. They're still doing it, but it's just not the school. So when he pulled that, changed a few things, and so that also affected their milk price because this is part

of that discussion. >> Unfortunately, cuz I got to tour the farm last year. It was awesome to set up. It was really cool, but yeah, they decided to go in a different direction. >> So then Castine changed. Yeah, so it's a slight increase with the Castine came in lower. That's that's the new milk bid. >> Is it just a Are those bids just it bid or not? >> Yeah, it's an annual bid. Yeah. >> Any other questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Opposed? Motion carries. Item 9.6 is approved certified contract for Cole Myers, counselor, VA plus 30, step one, effective the start of 2026-2027 school year. Do we have a motion? >> So moved. >> Motion by Mr. >> Do I have a second? >> Second by

>> Any questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. Opposed? Motion carries. Item 9.7 is approved certified contract for Rebecca Warner, art, um, VA step two, effective the start of 2026-2027 school year. Do we have a motion? Motion by Laura Davidson. >> I'll second. >> Second Second >> Any questions or discussion? Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Opposed? Motion carries. Item 9.8 is approved certified contract for Kayla Soderberg, preschool special education teacher, VA step two, effective the start of 2026-2027 school year. Do we have a motion? >> I'll move. >> Motion by Corey Glenn. Do I have a second? >> Second >> I know. Any questions or discussion? >> Uh, one thing I do want to say is, you notice that in the board meeting,

uh, we approve some contracts from people that we non-renewed earlier in the year. Uh, those were license and other areas. We said at that point, hopefully there's some of those people we can end up hiring back because they would have completed a license or something else, right? These have been through the policy process, which you have to post them for so long. They've been re-interviewed, and they've been offered these positions. So, we're happy to have some of them back, as we discussed a a bit, uh, in our earlier meetings this Okay, just to make sure people know. And I find that already those people some of them were because of their licenses. Unfortunately, some of that is okay. And >> Any other questions or Hearing none, all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >>

Those Motion carries 9-0. Uh approved donations. Um we have two of them that we got. Can I one is from Leighton's Lighting and $2,000 uh ice cream uh for ice cream company. And uh also from uh we have donations from Pender Transportation. Um transportation to Detroit Lakes Fishing Club. We thank both of those. We approve of that. Wonderful. We appreciate this. We appreciate people supporting the schools. Um this this is by resolution and the resolution reads as required. It deserves agreement. And I move to uh I move to approve the motion. >> Motion by Laura. Do I have a second? >> I'll second. >> Any questions or discussion? >> I just think it's awesome cuz the way it's written it sounds like the Detroit Lakes Fishing Club is taking advantage >> Say that. >> And

that's really good. >> You remember it that way. I know we talked about it earlier. >> Got it. >> I have my phone right here right now. It does exactly what I said. >> It does what it says. >> It's a bad app, but Maybe you can install it on the issue of the club. >> We're all like that. >> We're better than >> Yes. >> It's great. >> Um any other questions or discussion? Hearing none, we'll go by a roll call for uh >> Aye. >> Resolution Item 9.10, this is an approved master between Independent School District number and Minnesota School Employees Association MSEA fiscal year 2012-2013. Um so I first 2016 through June 2018. This is for aides um custodians um admin Um but I don't know. Um my annual percentage Is that

Is that Any questions or discussion? >> I must say it was very good to work with. Really appreciate the good dialogue and the upfront conversation and helping with things along. Really appreciate just a big thanks to the group. >> It was the probably the um easiest negotiation in in a certain sense. Um And then I think everybody was just um ready and willing to um know the situation and really understand from my end and from both ends. It was really pretty good. Get that done quickly. Really was so. >> Can I ask something but I get to get to see the stuff cuz I have no idea what it So >> The agreement called for approximately Yeah, it was 6-month agreement. 6.2 Total total 12 Yeah. And the trying to think of the the focus

of the the increase It's been just a hot minute since we've been Yeah, I just Well, well, the one thing I think that helped us is that all the information we shared at the time saying what our other settlements were and that we needed to make sure state of mind. That arena and I think that's what helped us because they came in in realistic spot. We did too and then it just started in a better place and because of that it kind of helped us move move quicker. There was a few language things involved but again there wasn't a lot there either so >> Also paying some items something we catch year to year that are provisions that are no longer in place. Generally I don't think from a benefit standpoint not much changed. >>

No benefit stays the same. >> Um mostly just changed to be big big >> And we added we added a longevity at 5 years. Longevity. Yep because it was 10 years before you get longevity paid because you know those positions I have would be no benefit. Yes we added that. That was part of that 6.2 because >> Yeah well increase retention something like that. >> Yeah so >> We're also able to make some adjustments adjustments to make that holiday season December to January a little bit easier for them. Also able to really work with them during that December to January period of work because it's a lot of work. >> Any other questions or discussion? Hearing none all those in favor say aye. >> Aye. >> Vote. Motion carried. Now number 10 next work meeting

is Tuesday May 26th here at the UDF the meeting at the at 6:00 p.m. 10.2 the facilities and transportation committee meeting will follow the school board meeting in the same location.
