As background, on April 9th, 2026, the school board voted 4-3 to extend an offer of employment to Dr. Brookens for the position of superintendent, contingent upon reaching a mutually agreeable employment contract. I want to recognize the significance of the 4-3 vote. Such a narrow margin highlights that there was not strong enough consensus among board members regarding this decision. The superintendent's role is too important for our district to move forward without broad
003support and confidence in both the process and the outcome. Moving on to action items. I reiterate Chair Lounsbury's concerns regarding the lack of consensus of the school board on the selection of our next superintendent. As a result, I am no longer in favor of moving forward with the process as it stands. Therefore, I motion that the school board withdraw the contingent offer of employment to Dr. Brookins.
