0016 o' algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. First of all, want to congratulate our two members who got their awards from MSBA. Way to go. >> Roll call. Tanya >> Tom >> here. >> Jeremiah >> here. >> Lisa here. >> Lori here. >> Chuck here. >> Linda here. First thing on the agenda which we a lot of us have done this before um is to elect officers. So we have to do the nomination process. So I will entertain nominations for chair. >> I nominate Linda. Any other nominations? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Oppose same sign. Motion carries. Vice chair. >> I nominate Thomas. >> Any other nominations? Any
002other nominations? All those in favor say I. I. >> Opposed. Same sign. Motion carried. Thank you for your service, Jeremiah. Um, nominations for clerk. >> I'll nominate Lori. >> Any other nominations? Any other nominations? Have any other nominations? All those in favor say I. >> I. I. >> Opposed? Same sign. >> Motion carries. Nominations for treasurer. also nominate myself unless somebody else definitely wants it, they can have it where we don't have to change the signatures of all. >> I was going to nominate you, Chuck, but I guess you can jump the gun there. >> Thank you. >> Any other nominations? All those in favor say I. I. >> Oppose. Same sign. Motion carries. Well, congratulations everybody. Woohoo. Mr. Leixson, do we have any changes to the agenda? >> No. >> Should be good. >>
003All right, then. I need a motion to accept the agenda. >> A motion to accept the agenda. >> Lori, >> I'll second it. >> Um, Any discussion or questions? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> Opposed? Same sign. Motion carries. A consent agenda. Anybody have questions on that? Anything you want to pull off of that? We did those a lot of those policies earlier this last year at this time. Um so so we it's by law that we have to visit those every year. So that's what we're doing. >> Some have statute requirements review somewhere within the policy itself. >> No questions. Any further discussion on the consent agenda? >> Consent agenda. >> Chuck made the motion. Is there a second? >> I'll second. >> Jeremiah, any discussion then? Any further discussion? Any
004discussion? All those in favor say I. >> Oppose say sign. >> Carries. >> So, we did all that. New business. Uh, let's look at the committee assignments. These are who is presently serving, correct? >> Yes. >> All right. So, um, I'm guessing negotiations is probably set because we're right in the middle of it. >> I wouldn't recommend changing it. >> No, it's kind of hard. >> Do you have you have any comments, Daniel? Um uh one that I was thinking of between like safety, security, building and finance that might as well be a committee because a lot of times the big building projects are financial and like um the number of times there's specifically purely a financial thing to go over isn't terribly often. Um, just a thought of mine, but I know then there's
005not quite as many to keep track of. >> So, you want to combine those two communities as your recommendation? Oh, that's just a suggestion I have because like um you know I take the track project. Um I know like a lot of times I'd pull Chuck in on because he was the one on finance when I was um before the before last year and so we'd have those we had to keep it under three. A lot of times there's a lot of overlap between the finance and security and stuff finances too and there's just only a few times a year where you're going to go into like assumptions and different things and a lot of that financial stuff you will talk to at the board table because you wouldn't want to make any think too
006about the full board >> just my thoughts >> again the committees can't make a decision you know it has to come to the board anyway So, >> so you're suggesting we combine finance and the safety and security. >> We need a motion on that. >> Um, probably just like >> Yeah, I suppose just to make sure it's >> and I would accept a motion to that effect that combined finance and not safety and security committees. >> I'll make the motion. Okay, Lori, >> I'll second the motion. >> Jeremiah, any further discussion on it? Any questions or concerns about that? Any more discussion? One last time. Any discussion? >> All those in favor say I. I. >> Opposed. Motion carries. I'm writing. Okay. The executive committee then changes to show Tom because it's chair and vice
007chair and this clerk. Okay. Community ed. Do we just, you know, Lisa and Jeremiah, you want to stay there? No, it's fine, >> Lisa. Yep. Okay. Meet and confer is Linda and Lori and Tom. >> I'm kind wondering if suggesting if maybe the meet and confer executive should be like the same because I know that's been confusing in the past couple years. >> Um, and to me the same executive and meet and confer make sense to me. >> Should just be a subunction? >> Sure. If it just so happens that it's the same three people this time. >> Do you need a motion on that to clarify that? >> Yes. >> Uh yeah, just because meet and confer is that um statute things that mean >> and I would soal need a motion to combine
008meet and confer in the executive. >> So moved. I'll >> second. Glory. Any discussion or questions or concerns? Any discussion? All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Opposed. Same sign. >> Motion carries. Okay. Public health is tying You stay there. >> Yeah. >> Good girl. >> Lisa, you're on the high school league. >> Yep. >> All right. Um stakeholders is Lori, Chuck, and I. Anybody want to go to that? They're good meetings to go to. >> I want to stay on that. >> Chuck wants to stay eat. I'll stay on too. else. >> Okay, >> sure. Grow your own. Um, >> Jeremiah, did you meet with anybody? >> I didn't. >> No, I didn't either. Um, so >> I'm not sure if that was still going with funding. So, that's >> I saw
009something on the website today that is there, but >> Okay. I don't know. >> I mean, I guess we could have a person designated for that if it restarts or something to do with it. >> I guess it's there. >> Yeah. >> Fresh water truck. >> I'll stay there. >> Tanya, you can still be an alternate. Okay. the wellness committee. Jeremiah and Lori, >> someone else can take mine if they want. >> I'll say I'd be there for work anyway. So, >> I'm fine with >> you have to do the safety security of building >> cuz there's four different people on there. Oh, we have to fix that. We combined it, but we didn't fix it, right? >> Are you staying on wilderness, Lori, or are you taking off? >> No, I can stay on
010it. >> Okay. So, then with the finance and the safety and security because we're combining. Tanya's on both. Tom is on both and Jeremiah and Lisa. And we can only have three because of the you know the can't have core there. >> I'm fine being removed if that's what happens to happen. >> Any further discussions on that? >> Maybe being the two combined we call Jeremiah alternate >> if somebody can't make it for whatever reason. If that's okay with you Jeremiah. >> Yeah. That way we'd have three people there. >> Yep. Two case are needed. >> Right. >> So then the safety, security, building finance committee is Tanya, Lisa, Tom, and Jeremiah alternate. And we did the motion to combine the two. Do we need the motion to get the late names listed? >> We
011could get this grid all sorted out and then just make one motion for as it's presented. >> Okay, sounds wonderful. Did we get everybody? I think we did. And we will revisit that next meeting. We'll have a great next thing is a schoolboard compensation. Anybody have thoughts on that? I know last year we raised it. >> We better leave it alone this year. That's my feeling on that. >> Tom made the motion. Chuck, are you second any? >> You're going to second that. >> What did Tom? >> Any discussion, questions, concerns, any thoughts, discussion? Last time. Anything to say? Um, all those in favor say I. I >> oppose. Same sign. >> Motion carries. >> Legal counsel. >> So right now what you have approved is Squires um and Ratwick and Kennedy and Graven. And
012I'm not suggesting any changes to that. We did get uh response for proposals from two of them. haven't gotten one back from Kennedy and Grieven, but um it's fine to leave it just with the 32 or if there was a desire to specify one. >> Can you explain a little bit about what each one does differently? Yeah, Kennedy Engraven um specializes in contract and um like when I did like um stuff with turf and stuff like those sorts of um money contracts, those sorts of things we specialize on at RAW has more of a specialization into like employee contracts and employee matters and um I don't off panel but you guys have used spires before so I'm not sure what they told you was their specialty. Did send us a proposal? >> They did not.
013>> Anybody have questions or discussion on that? We have used less legal counsel this year and that's kind of nice to know >> and I think I would need a motion. Yes. >> Yeah. And um what we have done just so that it's clarified clear that uh standard speaking it'll be I'm usually the one that contacts legal or um Linda if uh for some reason I can't be involved and then if Linda is indisposed then I suppose you go to the vice chair. So >> then I >> So do we need all three of them? >> Um >> because they do different >> they do all do different things. Okay. >> Do did we have Sherry listed last year? She needed something for the business aspect of things to contact one of the attorneys. >>
014I think she's at the office all the time. So, she would contact you. >> Yeah, she would normally Okay. Well, I guess I do have the ability to say yes, you can. >> Right. >> And you would too. >> So, >> okay. I'll make a motion to keep all three as we've had. >> Motion second. >> I'll second it. >> Um any further discussion or questions? >> Where where did we where do we spell out just who can contact? >> We just did. >> You just did, right? Is that >> okay? Is that a part of the proposal or how do we how do we spell that also? That's clearly understood. >> You just make it part of the motion. >> I can I can amend the motion to make it that it's >> make
015sure you get that in there. >> The board chair, the superintendent, the board chair and the vice chair that can contact them or approve the contract by >> Okay. Any discussion? It just basically means no one else is authorized to charge up a bill in the school's name unless they want to pay it themselves. >> Okay. Discussion, questions, thoughts. >> All those in favor say I. >> I. >> Oppose. Same sign. >> Motion carries. Okay. This policy 410 has to do with family leave. You want to explain a little? >> I will. And uh Jenny, feel free to jump in at any time because I know you guys have been busting butts preparing for this and I might run out of voice, but um so paid family medical leave is a new law. So that's
016why we have to have a policy and it kind of works somewhat like unemployment does in that the employee applies for the paid family medical leave. covers a portion of their salary and the lower your salary is the higher uh percentage it covers and so that has uh so many weeks of leave I think I put that uh would be in the policy in some of the notes and um so family medical leave is protected leave but it's not with pay like you generally use your sick leave to accumulate sick vacation whatever pay family medical leave is paid can be used for a lot of the same reasons. Um again, we don't decide the school district doesn't decide if you are um going to be granted it. We we provide the paperwork to something very
017similar to unemployment >> so that they can take up to 20 weeks paid. Yeah. And depending on how big your salary is, it could be a larger or smaller percent. And everybody has to pay a percent out of their um paycheck. >> I think uh >> right now it's 444 per employee, 44 for the school. That will be changing after 3 months. I believe it's going to go down to like 39 or something like that because we're contracting with an IS to do it through them. So theirs is cheaper. >> Yeah. So we are anticipating that the we're not holding our breath that that will stay cheaper. >> Is is the option is is there not an option there that who pays the premium? It can be all the district or it can be split
01804.4 or it can be all the employee. Right. So at minimum of 50/50 has to be paid by the employer and it's a negotiable item. So um a union could try to negotiate that the district covers their portion. >> Okay. Interesting. >> Mandated, right? >> It's not a choice. Yeah. >> After you make so much, there is a limit like um it's like $3,000 some dollars you have to earn before they start taking it. So, not everybody like if you're a activity worker or a coach or something, you know, you don't get it taken on some of those days. >> Yeah. so many earn and there is this amount of time you have to be with your organization >> I don't know the time I just know there was a wage >> I don't believe
019there's a time from what I heard for >> when is that effective >> January 1st 2027 or >> and from what I understand you don't even necessarily have to be employed to collect you can collect somehow from the state >> how does that work >> some goofy rules I know there's some discussion and >> as long as you earn a certain amount of money in a year >> it's based off the money amount. >> My question is the school board members are required to pay attention, right? >> And >> so you will see that out of your paycheck. >> Nope. >> Okay. >> My next question got it all set up. >> Yeah. Okay. Can we can we draw another >> and you have to apply for that, right? So, it's time sensitive. >> And
020it's also used for like if you have a parent that you need to care for or a spouse or things like that, not just, you know, babies and and that type of stuff. >> Yeah. And I don't know what the ruling is on this so far, but like um like teachers, they have the three months period, but we pay them for 12. There's like some stipul some thoughts that if somebody got a surgery during the summer that maybe they could turn into paid family medical leave. >> I'm not saying that's one way or the other. I'm just saying that's something that's been discussed. >> It's not my determination anyway. >> You put that in there before we dealt with compensation. >> I'm sorry. Is this just a perusal or do we have to approve it
021tonight? >> Um >> first reading, isn't it? >> Yeah, it's first reading. So like it's like it's not really approved approved until it's second reading because um to be um they're supposed to be allowed for public comment. We don't have any public currently here, but so when it's on the agenda again, you'd have to ask if there's any comment on it and then it would be adopted. >> So next meeting probably. >> Yeah. So I guess I I would want to approve the first reading, but just with the understanding that doesn't like it's not done. It needs another reading, which means you guys can revise it or somebody can come in. So that everybody has nighttime bedtime reading time. >> All right. >> But you want to show that the first reading was approved. Just
022like you just squeeze it down there. >> All right. I bang the banger.
