Hello, all right, you guys. Go in be respectful. [laughter] I can hear you guys. Can you hear me? [laughter] And so. So. What? place to make langit la provision for the district to contribute 403 in schedule and A Ja. minus Definitely most of those will run in concurrence but um that's the section of the handbook and this is the most pertinent form that are changed with that handbook revision. Um many districts have these on their December. December rals. Frankly, we let it kind of get into January, get a little b behind us to see if there's anything that we kind of missing. And this is really seems to be on so the other area that I just want to call out real quickly is that also in Minnesota the law changed around break time to
make sure that all employees who work 6 hours are afforded in 30 minut on paid lunch um versus it used to be eight. So that has been updated contracts in the handbook and then we the that have been ratified by the board were linked into the bottom so that they're updated as well. So I would stand for any questions on the handbook. I make motion handbook second. Motion by Thomas second by Gerald all in favor? I alled here none of the motion carries. Next we got the 2026 2027 school calendar. Um so the calendar so this year and next year um sorry 26 27 and 27 28 um years school districts are able to start school on September 1st with the late Labor Day. um holidays the uh calendar committee through meet and confer had
extensive conversation and really looked at um taking the feedback of trying to be done as close to Memorial Day as possible and this calendar really accomplishes those items. Um I I will be really transparent. There are some calendars that I've seen out there that are starting before September 1, but the language of the statute very clearly calls out September 1st. And so, um, our committee came back September 1 as a start date. So, if you wonder why are we going four days in one week and four days in the next, uh, we really are not supposed to start on August 31. Um but the other the other components of the calendar structurally are very similar uh with two hour twohour early out the day before the holiday we very positive feedback on that at this
winter break uh and then the last day of school in addition to the twoh late starts for professional development very very structurally similar in the cont of Do I have a motion to makes motion second all in favor? I think you there things that we strug for a long time on the scho time at the end of the summer and you figured out how to make that work put a feather in your on that [laughter] still working There's been a lot of hours and a lot of conversation and a lot of creative thinking. And so I do think that the group that shows up for calendar has the right mindset to make it work and theyve been theyve great. That's all. Thank you. Next we got the pair professional appreciation week. So last week was
professional appreciation week and so if you take a look at number two um this is going to be all of our pair professionals that support and serve our students. Um I know I've said this many times and I'm kind of a broken record and I'm going to continue. Um when I was a special teacher I knew wholeheartedly I could not do my job without the work of the pair professionals and uh we are really grateful for the work that our pairs do. And so um it is just one week but we try to call it out and have some celebration and recognition. Unfortunately they were shorted a day with the awful weather last week but I think there was some makeup opportunities uh early this week to. So um just a thank you and and
note of appreciation to our pair professionals. Uh next we got the review of the school board association conference. Sorry that's wor [laughter] you have anything else you want to yours [laughter] um I for mine uh big one was so I attended the Minnesota State High School leagues uh presentation and a big note um that is like I attended for is starting 2027 they're going to be changing approach online students and athletics specifically they're going to start counting athletic participation for the students in the district they're doing online schooling through not their physical location so I don't know how much impact that's going to have for us but some districts like Houston that have massive online uh populations are going to go from small class to a massive class. So I'll expand on that just a
little bit. So Minnesota Virtual Academy is one of the primary online providers in our state and they are out of Houston, Minnesota small little community. Um and what happens is currently so let's say that Painville had 15 students that were enrolled in Minnesota Academy. They're still coming to painville to play sports, but they're going to school elsewhere. um that that shift would make it so that if soon is enrolled online they have to have to participate in their sports in their online location so it's a it has some implications for distrisable sometimes if the dollars of the state the dollars of the state go for the students y so a lot of what we have going out of school here is coming out of all the regular budgets of everything that we have a sp
of it only ex because we have teachers and all the school together so if you're not participating in the ma exp it seems like that's only they handling their school sponsor care program which um originally it wasn't actually supposed to be through the school through the hospital but covid changed things and um just interesting hearing some of the things they had to work through some pros and cons like for example since it happen to be a test of school where they're doing it through they got to you know go through the lunch program they got a few extra grants here there um a couple of the pit balls I suppose that was the who conference so you can move on to the uping meeting schedule the one that I I did for the board members
are the added your added strategic planning session with the facilitators that will happen on February 10th uh it will be a it is a public mee um but for ease of conversation and flow it won be recorded so if community members want to be part of that they should plan to be here strategic planning session but then you move into the regular work session after your and then I guess we have motion to second by Sheryl um All we are thank
