Once um construction is complete then it's a permanent easement. >> Okay. >> So it converts to permanent. Yes sir. >> Thank you sir. >> Any other questions? If not all those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed. Motion passes. >> Motion to approve the storm water management facility maintenance agreement. >> Second. >> And um we got a second. Y'all got ahead of me. Um I was reading the rest of it. So, any further discussion? If not, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed? That motion passes as well. >> Motion to award the architectural and engineering services to RRM for new elementary school contingent on legal review. >> Do we have a second on that? >> Second. >> I think Mr. Ren beat you by a second.
>> Yes. >> All right. So, any further discussion? If not, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed. Oh, was that a yes, Billy? >> Yes. >> Okay. Just make sure. >> All right. Motion to terminate the superintendent's June 3rd, 2025 contract with all terms of the contract that are in effect until June 30th, 2030 and replace said contract with a new contract effective July 1st, 2026 with a term of four years. >> Do we have a second? second. >> Any further discussion? Always get nervous when I have that first part. >> Um so um another four years. So um any fur if not being any further discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed? Motion carries. So I believe that's all the motions out of
close session. That being said, we can call the meeting to order and stand for the pledge of >> allegiance. I aliance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you all very much for that. So, do we have a motion to approve the agenda? Motion to approve agenda as revised to include soul source purchase orders approval to apply for the VSDA workforce readiness award. >> Do we have a second for that? >> Second by Mr. Hill. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed. We have an approved agenda and our approved agenda, our first item is the one good thing. >> All right, Mr. >> Chairman, you want to join
me? >> Yes, sir. One of our favorite times of the month to be able to recognize people doing what we call our one big thing and tonight we're excited because I think this is a pretty remarkable accomplishment. Just going to read some of this here but essentially of our staff and student 3D printed a wheelchair for one of our elementary students elementary school and presented to last month with her grandmother Shannon wheelchair that was presented. But I want to want to recognize the individual that did this remarkable event and I'm going to ask how many hours this 440 hours 3D print this wheelchair is pretty remarkable. I think we may have some photos of this wheelchair, but we're going to ask Sharpley, Dr. Sharpley to come up. Give it up for Miss Sharpley. fourman could
join us tonight. He was able to join us. works in our media center and Cole Delmore who's a student who was also part of this tonight. But I will say this is remarkable. I mean changing someone's life for the better and just such a remarkable way to be able to print that at such a reduced cost incredible. We talked about the 212. This is exactly what that looks like. And so to you all, we say thank you on behalf of the board and family and all of us. Tremendous tremendous work. So one more time, let's give it up. There we go. Wonderful. probably take more than 400 hours. So, if folks were looking for an opportunity to scoot out, now's the perfect time. >> Thank you all. >> Thanks. >> Thank you all very much.
Thanks for coming. >> I was going to see how many of this group got up and left. I'm glad left it opened there. All right. So, on to presentations. School construction project update. >> Good evening. >> And there was one left, >> Mr. Weer. >> Yes. And then there was one. Yes, sir. >> Good evening, everyone. So, as a general rule, things have been really moving really well with the CT building. I'm going to take you through a few pictures that uh Mr. Childress and I have selected to show you what's going on in the building. So, this is the west side view. Um on the lower left of that um of the picture you can see that is the entrance and on the very left we're going to have another picture coming of the
admin office. As you can see there I'm going to I'm going to go through several slides that are going to show roof. If you look at the higher portion of roof we call that the high roof that is currently dry. Okay remember we talked over the last couple meetings I talked to you how roofing was progressing. So that is dry day. Down below the lower roof that is insulation and they're starting to um they're starting to work that through getting the insulation complete and then they will dry it in. It should be dried in by the end of June. And then up the front of the building where you see there's where you see just steel. We call that section A. The previous two sections I talked about were B and C. But section A
is after that and do the same process. Now, as a side note, the reason that section A was left to the extent that it is, when they were doing the high roof, all of the crane work that they had to do to get everything up, they were fearful that if they had any any accidents that they would they would harm or damage the lower roof. So, they decided to do that last, which makes a lot of sense. That's So you can see better section on the front metal in place but they haven't put any insulation for. Okay. So this is a picture uh we talked about how we enclosed the um loop at the high school the bus loop at the high school on uh near door five. Um what they're doing there is they're
erecting the steel for the two sides of the secure connector. Um on the right hand side of that picture just to the right of the crane uh you can see that's where the vestibial is going to be going into the CT building. Um so they will get the steel erected and they will actually build the two sections of the secure pathway. They will they will build both of them and then they will lift them up into place built and then weld them in place. So that's the plan. Um they started as soon as school let out uh we we closed it off and started the work. Uh they will have uh it open for the start of school. Okay. Just another view of the steel going in. That's where it's going to tie in on
the second floor. >> And how much clearance is it going to be between the bus and the >> 15t in I believe is the lowest is the least amount of clearance. Yeah, we asked that question multiple times. I said how many feet do we have? Um so uh where we will have to be careful is we ever have any deliveries um that are you know machinery is coming through. We'll have to be careful with that. The bus is I believe change. This is the main entrance. So we had that first view where you saw I gave you the west view. This is going down through the main entrance and on the left hand side of the admin offices. These are the admin offices. And again you can see the steel ready for section as part
of section. And then this is the main drag down for students are going to come through. Okay. On the left hand side of that picture you'll see that is the face of culinary. On the right hand side is the And this is the meeting space you feel. Okay. So, we're going to do a before and before and after show you the progress. This is from last month and this is where it is right. And this is cosmetology and health class. Okay, I was you'll notice that there is a little water in that room that is under section the lower section. This is lower roof. So it's not dry. >> I was Yeah. Thank you for anticipating that question. >> Yes, sir. Yes, sir. ready for that last health lab. We're going to go basically the
health lab shape. So I'm going to take you around the next class. Yeah, it was class. I apologize for that. We had the classroom and then this is the going around. And the other side you can see are okay class and this is lab. This is an inside picture. Remember I pointed out the vest for the inside of it. They just poured concrete in there. And then remember I told you in previous meetings when you see yellow, you see the blue, then you see the yellow come and then you see bricks. They started bricking around the bottom edges of the building and they're going to progress up. I believe they're starting on the south side. progress up to the spray. And so this time with the we don't have any change orders. So for either
project um so with the CT project we have currently spent 17,477,00064 $477,6628 that represents 44.49% of our budget and we have completed 52.58%. So we are on time and we are under budget. Um the rest of the information I've updated the middle school there for you. Um it's just some minor things as we close out some items um with that building. Um and there are two RRMM payments that I have given you documentation for. >> One one of them was a little higher for some was that for materials u for some of the some of the material and things that got I just noticed it. >> Yes, sir. in um Neielson uh Neielson and being proactive and the current volatility of the market um because we're seeing a lot of price fluctuation with uh building
materials. Uh they have secured a larger portion of our equipment that we're going to need to finish up the job and um they've done that as as a proactive act. Um, so, uh, we spent a little bit more money than we have in the last couple of months, but we are going to save they are saving us money as as we move forward. So, we're very pleased that >> Thank you. Make sure they know that pass that on that we're thankful. >> Yes, sir. >> So, subject to your questions. >> So, any other questions from the board? And so with that, the when we're looking at the percent complete versus the amount spent, those numbers might get a little closer short term as we try to prepay pre- purchase some. >> Yes, sir. And you
will notice as as we do that um because some things like technology, as we move through technology and we do some of the RFPs for some of the um structure work that needs to be done in the building, there will be some gaps closing. Uh, but I'll be honest with you, um, Neielson does a pretty good job of keeping things rolling. Uh, they are doing a good job and, um, I I have anticipated those gap closes and I have not realized >> to this point. So, they've done a really good job of keeping us moving. >> That's great. >> All right. Any other questions? >> Thank you very much. Thank you. >> Make a motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. >> All right. Do we have a second on the motion? >> Second
by Mr. Hill. Any further discussion? I have my standard requested for finance. Just confirming that all PECARD and Amazon purchases have been reviewed and approved. >> Thank you, sir. Any other comments? If not, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed? Motion passes. We're on to action items. >> Our first >> Oh, go ahead. >> Motion to adopt policy GCBE, family and medical leave. >> And do we have a second for that? >> Go ahead. >> You would do rock, paper, scissors. >> Yeah, that's what we're going to do. He's got it. >> All right. So, we we have the second by Mr. Hill. Um, in terms of um discussion, so I I did have a couple of questions. So, this is the family medical leave. Um, so with this change, are
there any additional costs or um administrative responsibilities with this? >> No, it just um gives up 12 weeks um of leave for employees that qualify and then up to 26 weeks of leave for family member service man or woman for family medical leave as well. >> Okay, I think any other questions? Thank you very much for answering that. If not, all those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed. Motion carries. >> Motion to apply for the title one, part A, title two, part A, title three, part A, title four, part A grants. >> Do we have a second for that? >> Second. >> I appreciate you giving the polite pause, Mr. Um, so any discussion on that? And my only question was this is no change in terms of what we applying
for year every year for each each of these. >> We do this every year. This is the formality before we actually finish the grants. We're just asking permission for you all to submit. >> Fantastic. Thank you for that. There any other questions? All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed? Motion carries. So we're on to action item 9.03. And so that is an ad adoption of resolution to oppose Valley Link Joshua Falls to heat transmission line near um our school property. So I didn't know if we want to start with the motion for that >> motion to adopt resolution to oppose Valley Links Joshua Falls to Y transmission line near school property. >> Do we have a second? >> Second. >> We got a second and a third on that. >> There
you go. Um so um before we start the discussion I'll just generally read over it that um that we as a school board are saying um that in the best interest of Louisa County Public Schools that we're opposing um construction of these transmission lines near any of our schools. Um and um that um we're still willing to work with them, but we that formally oppose it. Um, we know that there are um, as that we put in here, inherent conflicts between the project and the proposed use of the parcel, which is the property next to the middle school in terms of a potential future site. So, I'll stop there and see if other board members want to make comments before we take a vote. So the phrase on behalf of police county public schools clarification
it's on behalf of students and staff would be in those schools in proximity. >> That is correct. >> Can't think of a greater need to propose their plan. >> Anyone else? >> Yeah. >> You know hopefully when the SEC gets this they will reject this transmission line. You know, one reason and only one reason for this transmission line to go to Louisa is to get to Northern Virginia with all their data centers up there. And I mean, you look at the data over the next 13 years, if you didn't have the data centers, you increase the need for electricity 10%. With the data centers, you need to increase it 76%. Virginia in the past instead of investing in 247 power that you need to have they went with the uh solar which is about 25%
efficiency went with the wind that's like 40% efficiency and basically did not have the power and you know there options I hope they will consider when it comes time to uh vote on this and decide it for us and all you One of them is, you know, bury the lines underground. I know they say you can't bury a 750 line, but I guess you could run two 400 lines, you know, and you know, another thing is data centers. Can they provide their own power, you know, you got big sites of land, you look like you put some type of gas turbine or small nuclear unit. And actually in the state of Tennessee, they just passed a law that data centers have to provide their own power and all. And then you get back Virginia, they're
the ones with I think close to 600 data service and uh they want to you can put a power plant in that backyard instead of putting a transmission line in that backyard. And I think that u the other thing is with technology changing Elon Mus wants to have data centers in space in the next three years. So you build all these huge complexes and all four or five years now they're going to be building sitting there with nothing at home. And you know, this is just a terrible thing that they're trying to push on to us here in the country hall to help Northern Virginia. Way I look at if uh the SEC approves this, Northern Virginia committed the crime by not having the power for the uh data centers, but we're going to be
taking the punishment for these transmission lines in that backyard. Hopefully SEC will do the right thing because we don't deserve this. You know, >> we'll see. >> You know, I echo a lot of what Billy said, but I'm going tell you, I'm just disappointed. I'm disappointed they can't move the power lines. First of all, I'm disappointed they're having built like Billy. I of course I'm not I don't have all the statistical data like the engineer here, but um I'm just, you know, good old country boy here and I don't understand some of that stuff, but I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed that we're we're like Billy said, we're we're really having to pay for what other places are getting the benefit from, right? Because they're disrupting county. They're they're doing that. And I'm really disappointed with the
fact that they're they're talking about going next to a school or proposed school or next to a school or anywhere near any of our school, you know. Um, it's just disappointing and and I hope that the SEC will take into consideration not just our plea but everyone in central Virginia who who really doesn't want uh this to occur and it's really really kind of hope you know for everybody. It's not just us and the school I think he was talking about the students and the and the staff but it's everybody. Nobody really wants this. So we got to get off >> and I would just like to say I strongly oppose that I'm an agriculture person >> and and I would say that um I'm a little disappointed as well as as you said Mr.
for all the reasons you all mentioned. But we also, you know, last month had the recommendation from the consultant who said the best location for um school is um adjacent to the middle school and they're proposing that. But we also mentioned in our discussions with them that we're opposed to any school. So whether it's Moss Knuckles, whether it's the middle school, we um even looked at TJ because it's not in close proximity there, but it is nearby for that. So, for all the safety concerns, um, and I would say that the board had asked the superintendent and I to reach out and try to work with these, and I've got to say, I was hoping for some, um, collaborative discourse with them, but I think our conversation has fallen short. And I think they've given
us no choice but to to do this resolution. And I was going to ask if it's okay with the board that we give us superintendent not permission to submit a letter along with our resolution explaining our position. >> Yes. >> I don't didn't know if there's anything else you wanted to add to that. No. Well, I appreciate the u opposition to the line. Excuse me. especially coming this close to um you know proximity to to our facilities and and land that we own to for maybe future facilities. And I think that uh we need to strongly oppose this. I think we need to do do what we can to protect our our assets here as well and to make sure we're protecting uh um students that families send here to us every day to make
sure that happens. So I appreciate the opposition. Um I appreciate the resolution and u thank you for your efforts on this. >> If there is any any other discussion all those in favor signify by saying I >> those opposed motion passes unanimously. So thank you all for that and your comments. >> Make motion to apply for the VSBA workforce readiness award. >> Do we have a second for that? second. >> So, any further discussion on that? So, I believe our submission um has to do with um the health sciences nur nurses aid pathway. So, I think that's something we definitely want to highlight. So, thanks for everybody for putting that together. So, if there are any other questions on that, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed? Motion passes. And onto
ourformational items. The first reading of the BSBA May policy updates. >> All right. Good evening. Mr. Danny's join me in some of these policies as well. Um so we have some that we're going to highlight. Um so starting with some policies that relate um to instruction. Um policy AF divisions now in their comprehensive plan um have to include the adoption and implementation of textbooks. As you remember, there was a policy last year where we had to start adopting textbooks. And so now we've got to update the comprehensive plan to to um talk about the adoption of those textbooks. Policy IG AG added requirement for instruction on the dangers of prolonged screen time on electronics and smart devices. um and including the addict addictive potential there. Um so it's not specific as to where we'll be
working with the instructional team to find out where that will fit. Um policy IG AJ add a requirement um for driver's ed where now we'll get some instruction on reckless driving. And then there are a few new policies under instruction. Um policy IK um requires both middle schools and high schools to provide parents with course registration requirements 30 days in advance of registration. So just communicating with parents which we already do at least 30 days in advance of them selecting their courses at both the middle school and the high school as well as what the process would be parents want to change students course selections. Another new policy, policy ILBC. Um, high schools must participate in the SAT school day program where basically students are offered um both in their junior and senior years opportunity
to take SATs or PSATs during the actual school day. Um, policy JB is a new policy where it requires school divisions to provide, um, financial aid application information annually to parents of seniors at the high school. Um, and then the last one, um, they've updated, um, the policy on cell phone usage, policy JFCM, um, from bell to bell. Um, before was it was prohibited, um, or now it's prohibited. Previously it was just restricted. So before you had the word restricted now it says prohibited from bell to bell. All right. So those are some of the instructional policies. Mr. D is going to talk about the safety policies. Yes. So we have a few more um involving safety technology and athletics. So in the safety realm, policy EBB uh where we have a new training requirement
for threat assessment team members to receive specific training on the use of emergency substantial risk orders and that'll be something that we'll work with Carla on as we get more information specific to that what that training is. Uh then we have GAE which is child abuse info posted in each building. Um and also reporting suspected abuse to a supervisor does not absolve employees from reporting to the um from reporting to the agency. So ultimately here what we have to put in place is um when it is reported to the supervisor the supervisor needs to report back to the to the individual that reported it initially to say hey this is who I contacted at the agency just so they know that that has occurred. Moving forward, policy GCL, um, a new training requirement for mental
health awareness for all teachers and other full-time relevant personnel. Again, something new that we'll work with Dr. Al on JHC. Uh, this is a new training requirement for school nurses to be uh trained in knowing recognition and management of uh cle cell disease. Um, and then we have a new brand new one uh KPA. This is the last under school safety, which requires annual parental notification of uh safe storage of prescription drugs and firearms to all parents um 30 days after the start of school. We also have to post that on our website as well. Um and then technology uh policy GA or IA both both the same. Um so it requires instruction on key modern digital safety topics I think we can definitely have including online scams misinformation and uh content generated by AI.
So um something coming to definitely work with um and then last but not least one in athletics policy JS which is one on social media um that social media cannot be the sole means of communication for athletic teams or programs. There's got to be multiple ways to communicate which is what we have. >> So questions from the board. So I I have my standard question um with all of these policies or is there any significant budgetary impacts or administrative burdens with these? No, the only one would be related to the adoption of the textbooks, but that's something that got put into place last year. I know Dr. instructional team have been working on that. So, we prepared for that. >> Okay. And again, these are for our review for for May and we'll approve in
June. >> June >> July. What am I talking about? I'm a month behind. Thank you. It's only two days into June. That's it. >> And so, thank you very much. So let's see our next one is the um let's see we have the first reading of IGBJ and GHCF easy for me to say it. >> The first one there is about our advanced or accelerated mathematics. >> Good evening everyone. Um, this policy talks about the automatic enrollment of students in accelerated courses based on scoring in the upper cortile on an so assessment in grades 3 through 8. Um, we have put things into place to notify our parents that this is coming. Um, we attended meetings at the middle school to explain this and also put it in our course catalog. So, um we won't
know this information until July after scores come out, but um we've got things ready to go and in place to take care of this. >> And so, if um so they'll be automatically placed there, the parents choose not to do the place, but they can opt out. Correct. >> Yes, they can opt out. >> Any other questions? >> Yes. And we've tried to make sure we communicated with our parents the understanding of how to do this. We want to make sure we're setting our students up for best their best success, not just off of based off of one score on on an test. We want to make sure we're placing them in the right place and working with them to make sure that can happen. So, so far we've gotten a lot of good feedback
um for how we're how we're trying to approach this and make sure that again we're setting students up for success all the while making sure they're challenged as well. We want to thank uh Miss Gray and all for all of her work on on this. She's been fantastic. So, do we need to move this to action or we wait till next month? >> Be okay to go to July. >> Okay. And then do we have GHC? >> Yep. And that's our student wellness policy. Good evening. >> Good evening. >> So, um, for our wellness policy, nothing um, really changed with it. We had to, um, clean up some wording in it based on recommendations from our federal review um, that we went through this spring. So, um, those are the couple of changes just in
the wording. The only thing that we did add to it was um based on a recommendation from SHAB who oversees the wellness policy and they recommended that we put in a paragraph uh regarding hydration and the importance of water and how we have water available to our students. So, it's not a new practice. We've been doing that for years. They just recommended that we show that we're doing that and put it into the wellness policy. And that's pretty much all the changes. And as I recall, um, it mentions that water is not a replacement for the milk, but is available in terms of for hydration purposes. >> Exactly. >> Okay. >> I wouldn't want to put water in my cereal. So, >> no, definitely not. >> So, anything else you need to bring to our
attention for that policy? >> No, that would be it. >> All right. And wait till next month as well. >> That would be fine. >> Okay. Thank you very much. >> All right. Thank you. Thank you all. Y so on to the 20 2025 2026 annual review of the um gifted plan. Long time no see. >> Hi again. Put on my different hat here for gifted. Um I put the annual review of our gifted plan in front of you. So you can see our seven goals there and how we addressed them during this school year from um identification to how we delivered services, what curriculum and instruction we used um the demographics of our students as well as parent and community involvement. >> So any questions from the board on that? >> We appreciate Thank
you for putting this together and the work you're doing with our tag team. That's awesome. And and you know, I don't think it's just us, but TAC comes naturally in um the curriculum in elementary level. You kind of pick it up in in in high school with the advanced courses. So middle middle school is always the tough one to to bridge that gap. So um how did it how did we do this year with middle school? >> Um I we met with our parent advisory group twice this year and they we get great feedback from them. Several of the um parents are middle school parents. So um I think it's really been a great conversation talking about the transition from elementary to middle and how that does look different. Um they all saw this plan
as well and we you know took their feedback and of course we'll keep improving what we're doing and providing for our students. >> Great. Thank you very much. >> Okay. Thank you. So, um, in terms of my standard question is, um, do we need to take a motion on that or we can wait till next month? >> It'd be great if we could move it to action. That would be that would be fantastic. >> So, do we have a motion to move 10.03 to action? >> So, move >> and second. >> Second. >> So, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those opposed. So, I guess that means we I have a 9.05. >> Yes, you do, >> Miss Cam. >> Yes, you do. >> So, that would be a motion
to review the 2025 2026 annual review of the gifted plan. >> Yes, sir. >> So, we have a motion for that. >> So, move. >> Okay. Do we have a second? >> Second. >> You ought to keep that in order. >> We're just trying to keep it moving. >> I appreciate that. Any further discussion? If not, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed. Motion passes. Thank you all for doing that. on the journey to greatness. Number number 12. >> Dr. Alpurn. >> All right. >> Mr. Harris is not here. >> I know he's not here to make fun of me. >> I tell >> I got nervous because the three of you got ready to stand up. I thought it was like >> um well, you'll see a lot of
overlap in these um pictures that Dr. Gray put together. Um and that speaks to the collaboration of our departments. Um so first one starts off with our prompt and circumstance AI workshop the Mr. Bowens and a number of the instructional team. Yes. Um Dr. Greg did create this presentation with the first picture being of him. Um but um but it is it was a a great picture number one Mr. Wolf but but also um it was a great workshop really gave the seniors now graduates that are out into the world um uh a lot of great information about um AI. So you'll see that in a few minutes too. Um the next part is Miss Spay did a wonderful job wrapped up a divisionwide book club PD about wellness um that amazing shakuderie board um
that u Miss Stanley created and then a lot of um prizes and just a lot of great discussion about um wellness and you saw that that's um something on the forefront for us all to keep in mind for our teachers and staff. um CT workforce development. Uh they pinned and recognized 26 new CNAs um that um the next picture you can see here on stage um that are ready to go into the workforce when that's a definitely a needed um career. Um so that's just amazing for them to be up there um and pinned and recognized. Um the next part is I'm also with Mr. Bundri met with Marine Tech Industry Partners to discuss a new program. Um this is an amazing um resource. It'll be a great class um for our school. And then
here you see the prompt and circumstance again. Um that's just amazing those pictures. We could stop right there. Um but you can see a lot of that work that went into that. Um that was an incredible morning for the senior class and a lot of adults that were there learned a lot too. >> That's not that big in the front there. >> Uh no I don't believe so. That is not that would be funny though. Even funny. >> That's Kenny. Okay. But Mr. Browns really did put a lot of work into that. Um so that we give um all the whole team credit for that. Um this is another view of the um wheelchair that we just uh celebrated earlier this evening. Um it was wonderful to see. You'll see in a few minutes Mr.
Wolf also has a picture submitted um for this where you can see the child's face light up um when she saw that. Yes, sir. >> Are there any metal components to that wheelchair? >> Um no it is. And Kenny, you can speak to that if you want. >> Yeah. So just the hardware there's like two bolts and nuts and then the caster wheels on the front are the only all the straps, the buckles, everything else is pretty. >> It's amazing. >> Um, and so the teachers to the left there and and the student, you'll see in a few minutes, um, really reacted in such a positive way to the wheelchair. Immediately put her hands onto the wheels where she could move it herself. So, um, that was amazing. Um, maintenance. Um, there's no toilets in
this presentation. Um, but they did install, um, new, um, they did install new boards in the softball and baseball dugouts. Um, required display board at the jungle. And then of course we uh repaired blinds in the jungle concession as well. So the jungle will look amazing inside and out. Um we also um technology collected senior Chromebooks and devices and also added network services to deter field. Um of course graduation is a big um collaboration with everybody. They set up for graduation and then also set up a network for the um iPods at Moss Knuckles. Um everybody was celebrating but in nutrition as well was celebrating the last day of school. Um this was in particular at TJ where they're giving them a lua goodbye. Um but yes, all of our central office staff get to
join the schools and it's a great moment to wish them well for the summer. Um here's another great picture where you can see the child's face with the wheelchair um Mr. Wolf and the public information communications. Um secure coverage from a number of different news outlets. There were wonderful stories about um the wheelchair giveaway at Moss Knuckles. And of course we had our LCHS graduation 2026 with a lot of content created for that. Are there any questions? >> Thank you very much. >> Thank you, Dr. Alpern. >> So, we're on the school safety task force update. >> Good evening. >> See everybody once again. We have just one small thing to unlike some of the previous times forward. It's real small. >> There it is. Surprise. So, today we had the opportunity to do a
divisionwide tabletop exercise. So, the first thing I want to say about that is to thank Mr. Stley who gave us the opportunity to do the training divisionwide. And if you look across the bottom of the slide, we of course brought in our partners because it would be, you know, fruitless to do an exercise without having our first responders. So, all in total, we had about 60 participants. between the high school and all the other participants that you saw there. So you'll find it was for us a very worthwhile exercise. We did one last year. We plan on doing it annually and to make a long story short, you know, safety is our top priority. So if we wanted to deliver all these great things that we've been saying all night, world class education, it all
begins and to a certain extent ends with safety. For us, this was a two-part uh exercise. We did part one today which was major event was an act of assalment exercise that took place at the the middle school uh during the tail end of the arrival. If you want to talk about difficult times and challenging times for a major event, it's during that arrival period of the of the schools. So, what this feeds into us later is this ended the exercise. We made some decisions on whether we'd reunify on-site offsite and we decided obviously for this particular scenario to reunify offsite which now translates into the second part of the exercise which is our reun reunification mock exercise on the 23rd of July which will go through the the middle school there at Thomas Jefferson
Elementary School. We are very fortunate we have a fantastic partnership with critical response group. Those are the folks that make the uh the digital maps that we all use in all our schools and for all our responses. uh they were here uh same individual Josh Goldsmith a former special forces the whole in fact the whole company was special forces this is their forte uh and it was very interactive it was informal and it was you know non-competitive it was a discussion to find out where the gaps are in the plans that we have in the event of a major event like active as so we walk through these things and a lot more uh and I will say there's always lots of things So it's very important to do these kinds of exercises. Uh and
we have a series of takeaways. We did the hot wash at the end and now we're going to follow up with a written AR which captures the sustains the good things that took place. An example of a sustain would be we have law enforcement on every one of our campuses. So if there's a criminal related kind of event taking place that ability to respond is within seconds. And then those improve minor things areas for growth. We'll capture all those in a a improvement plan and we'll work to incorporate where we need to in the crisis plan and make any other changes that we need to along the way. So very beneficial and I'll end where I started again for allowing us to do this and uh our hope is to do this every year in
a different location so to speak uh to get as much information as we can and be as responsive as we can. find yourself in that position. Any questions or comments that I can answer? >> This was a fantastic u event this morning and Sergeant, I want to thank you for your work uh to put it together and want to reiterate partnerships that we have with fires and the state police. Uh the town police were also there um along with the sheriff's office and uh members from VOTE. but just the the partnerships with them to be able to have something like this and be able to walk through and have these practice events, but not just this event, just in general, just to be able to have those partnerships and and knowing that we can rely
on them when we need uh assistance is is incredible. So, just want to say thank you for putting it together. This morning was another great event um with them and very uh uh very eye opening for many as well as we again continue to try to refine and our craft and make sure we're providing the safest schools possible. >> Thank you. Thank you. So under public comment so anybody would like to come forward and speak floor is open. That'll be my normal Mississippi count. There being no one, we will close the public comment section. So, on to reports. Any questions or comments on the reports? Um, and I'll give Mr. Harrison an update later on the reports. Um, I noticed with the facilities looks like we did a little catch up. So, thank you for
that. Um, and I think that's everything for the reports. Our next meeting in July, I get the month right at the end anyway. July 7th. um back here. So if there aren't is there anything else? Do we have a motion to adjurnn? >> So move. There you go. >> Got a first and a second. I let I'll let Miss Campbell pick which is which. All those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed. Thank you all very much. And we are journed.
