And I've got to say that sounded really good with the thank you all to approve the agenda with the following following revisions relation. >> We have a second on that. >> Second by Mr. Hill. Any further discussion? All those in favor signify by saying I. I. >> Those opposed. Motion passes. So now we have an approved agenda and our first presentation is from the American Heart Association and Margar's here to join us again. Yes to see you. Welcome >> my friend prepared prepared speech for you. Okay. So um I'm gonna I'm gonna open differently than I ever have before. I'm going to open with a pop quiz. >> But don't worry, there's a prize. >> So So you guys see my eyes. Help me. Help me. Mr. Stley. Um, first one to answer. Does anyone
know where the closest AED currently is? >> Miss Spade back here raised her hand. Let's see what we got. >> That is awesome. So, you know, just something to remember. Uh we employees of American Heart Association, it's just one of those things. Always go walk into a place um thinking there may be a pop quiz asking where the closest AED is and uh you know the prize might just be helping to save somebody's life. >> So good evening you all Mr. Staley schoolboard members, Louisa school leaders and everyone. Thank you so much for having me for having all of us here this evening. My name is Marjorie Church. I'm very fortunate and blessed to have been the heart partner to Louisa County Schools with the American Heart Association for almost 13 years now. >> Um,
I have always enjoyed my visits to Louisa and my visits with the amazing people who make up team LCPS. It is an honor to be here as we take another important step forward together, saving lives together here in beautiful Louisa County and beyond. We are so excited that after years of work, as of July 1st, all public schools in Virginia are building cardiac emergency response plans to keep our schools and communities safe. These kits we are sharing with you all this evening will help ensure that our schools have the essential tools and resources needed to bring these plans to life and sustain them for years to come. Thanks to the wonderful generous support of our incredible friends at Clark Technologies and Amazon, we are equipping every Louisa County Public School with a CPR in schools
training kit. THESE AH, SO EXCITED. Got a little teareyed, lost my place. Okay. Um, these kits will give students the knowledge and confidence to step in and save a life during a cardiac emergency. Why does this matter so much? Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the US each year. More than 350,000 people experience an out of hospital cardiac arrest. And sadly, nine out of 10 do not survive. But immediate CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival. Unfortunately, less than half of those who need CPR ever receive it. And that's where our students can change the future. Children can start learning CPR as early as the age of four. And by 10 to 12, they can perform effective chest compressions. Schools are the perfect place to teach
these skills because students bring them home, helping protect their families, neighbors, and communities. We've seen real stories here in Virginia where students saved lives because of CPR they learned in school. We had a young lady named Angelia who learned CPR in her high school thanks to the American Heart Challenge program that our high school and middle school do here in Louisa and then saved her grandmother's life who suffered a cardiac arrest at home. We had a nine-year-old named Phil who learned the steps to handsonly CPR thanks to our kids heart challenge program. Just the same program that all of our elementary schools here in Louisa do. And he walked his mom through how to do it at church. And together they saved a man's life. We have had so many amazing stories from our schools
and our kids heart challenge programs and students learning CPR and we want to continue to have more. Each kit can train 10 to 12 students at a time in CPR, AED use, and basic first aid, all in one class period. This means hundreds of Louisa students will now have the power to be lifesavers. Our goal by 2030 is to double the survival rate from cardiac arrest. With tools like these and the commitment of this great community, I believe we can do it. Thank you again for your leadership and for helping us make Louisa a county of lifesavers. And a huge heartfelt thank you to our friends at Clark Technologies and Amazon for helping to make this happen for these deserving people. Thank you. And I'm Whitney. I also work at the heart association and I
have the privilege of getting to work with Amazon and Clark Construction or Clark Technologies as well and all the work that they're doing in the community. Last I mean uh our youth are just so important to them. Last year they helped every school ac across Louisa County have tools for schools. So making sure all of the pees have plenty of balls and equipment to make sure that our kids can get out there and active and healthy. And this year, just like Marjorie did that um pop quiz, we want to make sure that regardless of if you're a teacher or a student, if you're asked the question, where's your closest AED, you don't have to look around and be like, I don't know. You actually know exactly where it is. Usually, they're right next to the
restrooms or they're in the gym. And we just want to make sure that regardless of who you are, you know exactly where that is. Um we have fire drills and our kids know exactly what to do in the case of a fire drill. So, with these um new cardiac emergency response plan requirements that Governor Yncan signed into law July 1, we want to make sure that every school has that ability. So, not only with these kits are you getting the opportunity for kids to learn that in a 20-minute class period, but how can we work with you guys as well to make sure you know exactly what to do, whether it's at a football game or it's in the middle of the class, the students and the teachers all are equipped with exactly that knowledge.
And I'm totally going off script, but um but yes, and we could not make that happen without the generous support of Clark and Amazon. They were very passionate. They wanted them specifically to go to Louisa and make sure that not just one school, but every single school in the county had one because they can double or triple a um save someone's life. So, their gift brings this new statewide requirement to life. it helps us, you know, not just say, hey, here's this requirement you have to do, but here's the actual resources to make it happen and we can work with you guys directly on that. Um, and so and the investment strengthens the train of survival across Louisa County and helps us build stronger, safety, safer community, one prepared to save a life at any
moment. And we are deeply grateful for Amazon and Clark Construction's commitment to protecting the hearts of our students, staff, and families. So, I'd love to invite Amazon and Clark just up just so that we can say thank you. And if they want to say anything, >> I've got a question. >> No, it's a nice question. You represent Clark, right? >> Yes, sir. >> And Clark has a huge construction site. >> Oh, I represent Harp. They represent Clark. >> Okay. >> I I am Sarah. My question is, does Clark have a >> saturated room site? >> We do. We actually have our safety we have our safety personnel with us here today. So, if you have any safety questions, you we have our two safety folks here um who have joined us. Hi everyone, I'm Sarah
Brown Campell. I do community engagement for Clark Technologies. Um, we're a division of Clark Construction. We're national company, but we're mostly based here in Virginia. Just wanted to thank you all for having us today. Safety is very much in the ethos of our company. So, there was a natural alignment for these CPR kits. We presented the idea to Amazon and they were very excited. So, Clark Technologies and Amazon are very excited to partner and to provide all of the Louisa County Public Schools with these life-saving kits. Hopefully y'all don't have to use them, but should you, you know, they have great resources in them to help save a life. So, thank you. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you. >> I'll just quickly add on. Hi everyone. If I haven't met you, I'm Lisa
Skoolie. I am the community engagement manager for Amazon data centers in here in Louisa. It is very nice to meet you all. And this is exactly the type of partnership we're looking to do in partnering with the community and giving back to the kids. Uh it's been a great relationship so far and we look forward to partnering with you in the future. So, thank you everyone. Thanks for your patience. >> All right. Awesome. Here we go. Taking the photo in. One, two, and three. And if you have any questions for us, Mr. Sterling has our contact. So we're So when I first saw that that red package, I thought somebody had ordered Door Dash, >> but even a better package. >> Um, so on to our consent agenda. >> Oh. Oh, I'm sorry. Oops. I
skipped I was going to say, how could I forget? >> Wait, wait, wait. >> School construction project trying to leave us out. >> All right. Well, I got the two presentations tonight. One for the middle school, one for the CTE. Do middle school first, please. >> All right. So again, so this is the the architectural drawing of what the um you know, looking from the stadium was supposed to look like and that's what we got. So we got to see that during uh some of the those great football games down in the jungle. And again, just looking at the exterior. So um you know, one of the things that you're you're signing um we'll be signing here shortly is the um substantial completion. And as you can see in in this, we are uh certainly
making a lot of progress and uh the building is looking great. We've got the the road has been resurfaced along the back side of the building. You can see the new bus uh drop off lane uh there. That's for um the special ed students that uh may need to be dropped off around the back of the building. There special ed classrooms on the lower level uh of the addition. And this is looking up uh you know from the practice fields over there looking back at it. So, uh, and then of course we cannot forget the, uh, the, uh, auxiliary gym, and, uh, it's absolutely gorgeous, uh, in there, and I cannot wait to see our kids in there playing basketball and and just using that facility because it it is so nice. You know, we
essentially doubled it, but when you go in there, it it's like it's a whole new space. So, >> good evening. Um, no change orders for the middle school edition this time around. Um, we have spent 21,990,355.50. This represents 84.59% of our budget and we are 93.43% uh complete with the project. Um, so we are um under budget and we are set to open up after the first week. music to my ears. >> Any questions on the middle school? >> It's gorgeous. All right, you want the CTE? >> CT. >> So again, so last time um you know, I kind of showed you what the progress was at the last meeting. So this is where we were at the last meeting. And so you can see start to see some CMU the block work coming up.
Uh and we have one section of the floor the pad to be poured. A lot has taken place since this picture. So now you can see dramatically how much of the CMU the the block work has come up. Um it they've made so much uh progress in that building. This is looking at it um from the bus loop uh side. So looking um you know from here looking down towards the um the track the old track and then this is looking at it from uh from the road from the main road up there. U so you can see they've got the first row of of CMU pretty much throughout the whole building. Um back portion is obviously uh much further along. Uh we do have one section, one little pad uh to be poured. And
the reason that hasn't been poured yet is um because that's where one of the main electrical closets is at and also the uh pump house for the water line coming in for the fire pump is there. So they're doing those final uh connections and getting things in the ground uh before they actually pour that slab. So making a lot of great progress uh on this. So very excited. Uh we will be on the roof in March. >> March. Yeah. So, >> good evening. Again, we have one no cost uh change order for an up upgrade of the chiller uh for CTE. Uh we have spent 7,462,92151. Uh that represents 18.99% of our budget. Um and we have completed 25.77% of the project. Uh so we are on time and under budget for this project as
well. In your packets um there are two payments for R R&M that are documented and the supporting documentation with them. Uh subject to your questions we're we're complete. >> Any questions from the board? And the only question I had was we've had starting to get a couple of weather days, but as I recall, we should be >> got plenty. >> Yes, sir. >> There'll be no other questions. Great presentation. Thank you all again. >> Thank you. >> And I won't forget your next one. >> Now on to the consent agenda. >> Make a motion to approve the consent agenda for Senate. >> Do we have a second? Second. >> Any further discussion? >> So, I was going to ask superintendent my my standard question all card um and Amazon purchases. All right. >> There being
no other questions. All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed? Motion passes. On to action items and the adoption of the fiscal year 27 CIP. Yes. So, excuse me. Last month, we presented the FY27 capital improvement plan. Uh many of the items on there are often ones you see each year with school buses, uh cafeteria equipment, HVAC. Uh so all of those remain the same as presented last last month. Also just wanted to, you know, highlight the elementary school uh planning money that would be in FY27. um planning the new elementary school which we've discussed and then also just reiterate what we talked about last month with the conversations um that I've had with Mr. Goodwin at the county in reference to putting the construction money um as a placeholder in FY28
with the understanding that that may need to be u moved out a year potentially. Um, and we're just working with them, uh, and the understanding to work with them as, uh, revenues may come in if they look to pay potentially a substantial amount of the construction with with cash. So, just wanted to we're going to leave that as a placeholder there for FY28. Uh, but just wanted to reiterate that as the discussion uh, was had last month as well. >> So, any questions or comments? we make a motion. >> I I just want to make the comment that uh and we we talked about it last month that it's good to see the cooperation and the collaboration with the the board of supervisors that we're all trying to get to the same goal and taking
into account what they need to do from the finance side and what we need to do from the student population side. Um it's great to be able to to have the flexibility on both sides too. >> Yeah. I do think it's important that uh having the planning funding uh planning money there for FY27 is important as we can go ahead and prepare uh so when we are able and ready we can go ahead and make it all happen. So appreciate the comment. Make a motion to adopt the year 2027 capital improvement plan as presented in the amount of 5,984,000. I have a second by Mr. Any further discussion? There being none, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed. Motion carries. We have a CIP budget for the same 27. >> I
guess it' be 2026 here. Sure. Let's get used to that as well. So on to our next action item, the revision to local plan for the education of the good. >> Yes. So uh Miss Gray will come to the podium for a second and just present the revisions to the plan which really um is just the revisions of the aptitude and achievement test used to determine the eligibility. But that I know you've seen the plan. Any questions you may have um Miss Gray could answer those. >> Good evening everyone. >> Good evening. Um the main change is switching from the test that was called SAGES that's um hasn't been nationally normed in over seven years to a more up-to-date and efficient test called KAT. So if you have any questions I'm happy to answer those
for you. >> So the only question I had is for tax students that are already in they're in they don't get retested. >> Right. No this is just for the upcoming >> moving forward. So would this be effective next semester or next year? this upcoming second semester. >> Any other questions? >> Yep. We appreciate uh Miss Gray's work on that. >> Thank you very much. >> Motion to approve the revision to the local plan for the education of the victim. >> Second. >> Have a second. Any further discussion? >> All those in favor signify by saying I. >> Those opposed. Motion carries. So on toformational items and the um first reading of the revised VSBA schoolboard policy and I believe most of those are just grammatical changes. >> It pretty much is just um language
changes and the code changes. Correct. >> So and again this is forformational purposes. If anybody has any questions on those I think they're pretty straightforward. Please reach out. Um but we can um have that back to next one and our journey to greatness update number six. Wow. >> So, good evening, sir. >> Did he not give you the clicker this time? >> I got it. The left. >> Oh, you got it. >> Thank you, Mr. Children. Well, good evening. I'm very excited to share our greatest highlights from the journey to great greatness for this month. We'll start with Dr. Pony and human resources. recently he held a monthly substitute teacher workshop and I'm very excited to say that we've had added nine potential subs into the fold. So great job Dr. Paloney and team. Transitioning
over to instruction. Uh recently English and special education teachers participated in PD. Uh it was related to multiensory approaches to teach reading and writing. It was very impactful sessions and we received great feedback for all those who participated. So very excited to offer that to our teachers. Transitioning over to workforce de uh development. Mr. Bundick is always looking for opportunities for our kids. Recently, he facilitated high school CTE students uh to come down to TJ and present at the career day for their fifth grade. And I was there to witness it and I can tell you that our students at the high school are very engaged. They're very eager. They're very knowledgeable. So, it was exciting to see them really share and showcase their passions uh with our our youngest learners. So, great job Mr.
Bund for putting that together. Transitioning to steam and innovation, Mr. Barren hosted our ROC 250th birthday cadet promotion ceremony. It was well attended and well planned and he also facilitated many ROC events around the county, some of which received uh news coverage. So great job Mr. Bounds. Transitioning over to maintenance, Mr. Wson and his team are all around the county. Recently they installed emergency stops at the auto lab at the high school. They installed irrigation systems in the green houses at the high school. They also installed water fountains at the middle school. Uh technology, Mr. Cherson and his team's always very busy as well. They repaired Chromebooks recently. They set up a new copy at Travillians and they installed Wi-Fi in the jungle because you know you need Wi-Fi in the jungle. >> So great
job. Miss Herman is always getting it done as well. Recently she supported TJ with her uh after school family event by serving pizza to close to 1,000 families of people. So well done Randy. better than Domino's. Uh Andrew uh recently secured coverage for CBS uh regarding student gardens at TJ and he also created graphics and social media content for football in the jungle. And last but certainly not least is Dr. Alpurn. She's been very busy with training last month. Recently she participated in the Title 9 compliance training and she also reertified as reliable for class observations. And that's a hard test. I've taken it before and she got it done. So well done about a lot of great things happen in Louisa County and thank you guys for your support. I'll entertain any questions you
may have. >> Any questions of the board? >> No questions. >> All right. Thank you. >> Thank you very much. >> So now we're on to our school safety task force update. >> Yes. >> Sergeant. >> All right. Good evening everyone. Safe School Task Force is alive and well, I'm happy to say. Uh, we're going to cover these things very quickly for you. Oh, I know we talked about the SRO's a lot. Um, we haven't gained any SRO's, but we did lose one at Thomas Jeff uh Thomas Jefferson Elementary and we are lucky to bring back Deputy Voton who was an SRO previously. So, our net sum is one down basically and it's, as you know, and I've mentioned before, it's very difficult to find the right kind of individuals. So, we're still working very
hard and of course we'll keep you apprised of uh how we're doing and trying to hire that seventh individual. We want to give you a quick update. As you might remember, we uh contracted with Centrics for the Crisis Alert wearable panic button. I will say that Mr. Wido and Mr. Childris in the back here have done a fantastic job bringing this on board. Uh most of the installation's complete. There's there's like if you want to call it a punch list. There's some things that we need to to fix and things like that. Uh but we just began the uh the training today at Lisa County Middle School for the administrators and also you elementary school went very smooth. We're going to continue for the rest of the week and a little bit after that and
Mr. Staylor will be going around to all the schools to address the the staff to let them know why we're doing this sort of thing and how it's an extra layer of uh support. Uh we do plan to go active well we'll continue with the training for the staff in the new uh year in the spin up to the uh uh second semester and we'll go active on the uh the 12th of January. That's our our plan at the current time. So it's going to be a great addition to what we're currently doing. I must say I got to admit as I look around the Commonwealth this is one of the most proactive school divisions and fields of safety that that I'm aware of. Uh the reification team is working hard too. So, next week
we're going to be doing a little brushup training. It's kind of interesting to do that because, you know, we did a lot of in-depth training in our spin- up to the mock exercise uh last school year. Uh but, you know, the skills are perishable. So, it'll be interesting in this brushup training to see how much everybody remembers. It'll be a good uh you know, look at how much more we need to do or how often we need to do it. And you can see that we're going to be bringing the Virginia crisis assistance response team out on the 6th of January to do some training with our counselors. Uh and that's that should help us out a lot. And you can see we're looking for the mock exercise on the 16th of of March and
we'll keep you a breast of that too. That's all I have for tonight. We see you have any questions or or comments. >> Questions or comments from the board? >> Thank you for watching the meeting. >> Thank you. And you mentioned about the school system being proactive. I think a major part of that is the task force that doing all the due diligence, having the whole community involved and having the place I think has made us on the leading edge. So we appreciate that. >> One last thing we did, I'm glad you mentioned that because at the last safe school task force meeting, if anyone was anybody was there besides Mr. Shley, we had a briefing line. Everybody's on duty and that's everybody from the community to the staff to the students to the school
board to the administrators and that's what really makes us so successful is that we do have everybody on duty and working together towards a common cause keeping us keeping the students staff safe. >> Thank you very much. So we're on to the public comment section. So if anybody wanted to come forth now is the opportunity. Everybody tries to avoid eye contact. So with no one coming forward, we will close the public comment section and on to reports. So Mr. Harris, I didn't know if you had any questions or comments about the reports. >> I have potential questions. None. >> Okay. So I do have on attendance. Really looks good. I mean that's very impressive. that team is really doing well and uh very very impressive with the attendance how how we're working to get our
children in school. I mean everybody would be envious if they saw what we're doing. >> Oh, they would be. >> Yeah, looks really good. >> A great job well done. And then I just wanted to mention the facilities. I see this streak still going. That's 100%. So job well done. Keep it going. It makes a difference. >> Appreciate the hard work. Any other comments on the reports? If not, we have our organizational meeting next year. I can't believe I got saying 2026 again January 6th. So, Mr. Staley will be in charge for the beginning of the meeting. Um, appoint the chair to be vice chair for next year. Um, and then after the organizational meeting, we'll have a regular school board meeting to follow. So, any other motions or actions? >> Yes. I think we
need to recognize, you probably all do, is that we have a pretty fancy homework assignment with the uh statement of economic interest filing next year. >> Yes, we do. >> Yeah. Thanks for >> that. It is. So, thank you for the reminder for that. So, um do we have a motion to adjourn? >> All right. Mer second. >> Second. Miss. Any further discussion? If not, all those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. Those opposed.
