Thank you all very much. Any discussion? If not, all those favor. >> So we are on an approved agenda and our first item our presentation says construction project update. didn't seem like it's been a while since I'm telling you that. >> All right. So, I want you to take a good look at this picture. So, this is the architect's rendering of what the building should look like from the stadium. >> That's what we told you this year. >> That's what we told you was going to be there. You ready? >> This is what's there. >> And it looks better than I thought it was going to. >> It's absolutely gorgeous. I don't know if you read the football game Friday night, but I had uh I was there and had tons of people talk to
me about how beautiful that looked being lit up in the dark from the stadium. So, >> could have been a little bit brighter. always room to grow. But uh yes, it's uh just gorgeous. Uh so I just I want to give you a few additional pictures from the outside to kind of show you uh what's going on. If you notice in this picture, you see all the the construction fences down there. Uh the sidewalk is is in this is looking on the other side of the building uh in between the auxiliary gym and the addition. Uh we got the um grass seed and straw and stuff down. actually got some grass uh growing. You see the beautiful new roof uh with all the AC units, DOAZ units up there. And on the left hand side,
you see the uh the auxiliary, the addition to the auxiliary gym and the new sidewalk. And here is a shot looking down uh as we're starting to repair some of the the road uh out back that got damaged with all of the heavy construction vehicles back there. And you see all of the the concrete work that's in place. And if you see those little green squares, uh those are where the canopy uh will go because there's going to be a canopy a cover a canopy uh for that. So as students are offloading uh in the back that's a little bus drop off there uh they'll be covered all the way up to uh to the building. And so this just gives you another shot from the side of the building on the the door on
your lower right hand side. That's the entrance to the alternative ed side. Those red doors are mechanical rooms. And then the door to the uh upper left is um the middle school entrance. >> Uh with a drone. >> Okay. >> I climbed up a ladder. No, it's >> parachuted. >> Yes, exactly. And then of course the uh this is inside the auxiliary gym uh showing how beautiful that is coming together and looking. All right, I'll turn over to >> Good evening everyone. Um, so we have um to this point spent $21,38,27020 on the addition project that represents 81.9% 97% of our budget spent and we have completed 94.76% of the project to date. So, um, per Mr. Strickland's questions, we are under budget and, uh, we are still trending toward, uh, moving into the building
after the first of the year. >> There are no, uh, new change orders with the exception of the change order we just, uh, that you just, uh, approved. >> Exciting. exciting. >> All right. So, um, keep in mind this rendering. So, this is what the new CTE building's going to look like eventually. We're not there yet, but give us, you know, 18 20 months and we'll show you what the real one's going to look like. But, I did want to take you back in time. So, if you remember, um, uh, in May, we kind of broke ground, started doing some civil work. Uh we were very unsure what we would find uh under the ground because of the old building being there. Uh I'm happy. So this is one uh image kind of leading up
to it. And then as as we went along, we started to show you the footings uh going in. Uh and the bottom left of this image uh you can see that's one of the water retention systems that was put in because we don't have a a place to offsite pond. Uh it had to be underground. Um, we're very happy to report that we really found nothing of any significance uh in the ground. Uh, and then I showed you this image as we started to pour the concrete. We were doing about 10,000 u square feet pores at a time. Uh, so you saw this image um I think at the last board meeting and uh this is where we are today. So if you look at this um so all of the the slabs has been
poured with the exception of the bottom right that blue area that'll be the final pour and that covers uh well let's pull it up here so that covers the little lions and culinary. Um and then the rest of the building has been poured and uh if you ride over there you can see the exterior walls are starting to come up. So, the building is really starting to take shape and we are very uh pleased with the progress uh that we're seeing over there. Uh we're thankful that the weather is holding off uh for us. It's allowing them to to really uh get ahead of the curve on getting the CMU and the foundation forward. So, okay. So, we'll start with change orders. There are no change orders for uh the CT center at at this
time. Uh we still hold the um we're above above the original amount a little bit uh because we did get a we did get a payback on one of the previous change orders. Um to date uh we have spent 6,56,62.34. Uh that represents 15.42% 42% of our budget has been spent and we have completed 20.71% of the uh work. So um we are on time and under budget for that project as well. In your packets that I provided you um there's documentation for four separate payments to RRMM. Uh and you have the documentation there um for those payments. So subject to your questions. Appreciate >> questions. >> We are um I I'm going to say we're 95% out of the dirt because there's still some um uh water connections and um lines that we need
to run. But as far as the physical building itself, uh we are out of the dirt. >> Yep. and the the bridge um connector uh well that's actually going to be worked on this summer. So you'll start to see that going up. >> What will we see um next month? >> So next month uh you'll just you'll see a lot more of the the building itself uh coming up the actual the CMU the block work um they are projecting to actually have it under roof um by March. >> Wow. So, we're just staying out of their way. >> Yes. Fingers crossed. >> Anything else? >> Thank you all very much. We're on to our consent agenda. >> Do we have a second? >> Second. >> Any further discussion? >> I have my standard finance question
that all purchases have been reviewed and approved by finance. >> Yes. Thank you, sir. Any other comments or questions? All those in favor signify by saying I. >> I. >> Those is approved. And then our action items. Um, so as far as the blood board, just to clarify, we don't need to approve that. We just need to acknowledge. So no motion needed on this one, but any questions, concerns from the board on the updated categor. >> Yes, it was. All right. Well, no questions on that. Um I guess the next one is approval for the nomination form for a candidate for the USBA regional >> chair process. Any further discussion? >> I just would make note that um Chairman Strickland was was thought out to be the chairman for the central region which we follow
and per part of that combination uh the board does need to approve that which is why the vote is up. Thank you all for this opportunity to how we can improve discussion. All those in favor signify to say >> I. >> We have a second for that. >> Second further discussion it's well represented from everybody that's So discussion all those in favor signify by saying >> I motion carries on toformational items. So proposed I can hardly say it f year capital improvement. So we will present to you the 2027 FY27 capital improvement plan. It is hard to believe um that we are already discussing this. Seems like we just started the school year yesterday. I'm going to ask uh Miss Kohl's and Miss Herman and Mr. Childris, Mr. Weido and Mr. Wallace to come on
up as well. But again, tonight we will present to you uh our capital improvement plan and the projects involved in that. And we're going to lead off tonight with Miss Randy Herman and our cafeteria uh request. Good evening. >> So, uh my request for the budget for next year is for $140,000. And that request is for the middle school to replace um the serving lines over there. As you know, they're original, so they're 30 years old. Um and while our maintenance group of amazing folks keep me running, it's getting more and more difficult as it ages and hard to find parts. So, um, replacing that for next school year would be the last of all of our schools with the old serving lines. So, once we finish that project, that should keep us running with
our serving lines for the next 30 years. >> I I appreciate your support in that. >> Yes. So, as as Miss Herman said, the other schools have been tended to uh the last few years. So, this will take care of getting all of our schools uh the serving lines up to date. All right. Now I'm going to ask for Miss Kohl's to come forward and talk a little bit about transportation request. >> Good evening. >> Alrighty. Transportation is what keeps us going. Um we're asking for five new buses equipped as the most rec our most recent purchases, gasoline purchases with air conditioning. Students have become kind of liking that. They kind of kind of like their air conditioning. Also, we're asking for an additional were funds for an additional fleet vehicle that we might purchase
an additional van to transport students uh who need transporting. And I believe our final request is for the replace not the replacement but for the installation of two above ground gasoline tanks that we can place at two of our elementary schools. Right now we only have one gasoline tank that's at the garage. So, anyone who drives a gasoline bus has to come to the garage to fuel. If we were able to put those two above ground tanks at two elementary schools, it would be easier on them and save us fuel really because they don't have to burn that fuel to come and get fuel. >> Thank you. >> Oh, above ground. >> Uh 7 all of our buses are 77 pass. Oh, to take above ground, we're asking for 5,000 gallon tanks. >> I'm sorry.
question, >> sir. >> So, um, so just off that exact number, what% of our buses are gasoline? >> I knew you were going to do that. We're almost at that half mark. Not quite there, but we're I'm going to say about 30 or 40 of them are gasoline. >> Well, another question. So, those five new buses, yes. >> Are additional from what we have or are they replacement? >> Additional. >> Okay. >> Additional. So what we would do would be to pull five diesels off the road, put the gasolines on, but we would use the diesels as spare. >> Oh, okay. >> Thank you. >> Yes. And Mr. I believe is it Travillians and JW? Yes. Are where the pumps go? Yes, sir. >> So the pumps are going travillians in JW. And we can
certainly, Mr. Chairman, get you a number on the number of gasoline as well. I know Miss Kohl's is working been working diligently on moving our fleet in that direction so we can get you that information. Uh but thank you also um now Mr. Childris is going to come forward and talk a little bit about technology. >> So the wonderful world of technology um so for technology CIP we're asking for 585,000 very similar to last year. Uh so we do um we replace uh our cycle is second grade gets new devices, sixth grade gets new devices and ninth grade gets new devices. Second grader carries it through fifth grade and sixth grade cars it through eighth grade. carries through graduation. Um, and then 85,000 of that request is to out the help to update the um
video lab that we introduced years back refreshment. Any questions on the technology that labological obsolescence rate is that now is that like every year 18 months every six months >> I don't know what the exact number is it seems like it gets faster every year that you can buy upgrade it so that it's not obed that will be heading in year five as far as media aspect. So forward forward that as well. All right. And now I'm ask forward a little bit about some of the overall maintenance. We're requesting $20,000. This is replacement of old cameras and upgrading of our memory. So the that we can hold. Um, so as we replace our cameras, we're getting next gen cameras just like the technology. So as we get those, we have storage that we have because
they have a lot higher resolution and it takes up a lot more of the memory. So we have to keep pace with that. So keep a certain number of days. So that's what that money will go for. We're asking 46,000 uh for a maintenance vehicle. Um we have some vans, some of our work vans are starting to get some age and some mileage on them. Uh so we like a regular replacement schedule >> and replace that. >> Yes, this goes. Yes, sir. Um we're replacing van van 13 is 15 years old and has about 125,000. So she's starting to she's starting to show somewhere. Um HVAC we're asking 500,000. So the use of this money is um at the halfife of the two children that are at the high school. required maintenance requires them to
be totally stripped, taken down, and then inspected, cleaned, put back together. That's going to cost that money in order to do that. Just as a side note, that is our halfway. So, the next thing started thinking purposes. How could we get more than 20 years? Absolutely. Absolutely. Uh it's number of years and number of hours. Um it just so coincides that the midway point for the high school when the hours are pretty close to the mark. So I mean they don't always coincide like that but it has carpet flooring. We're asking $25,000. Uh this is focused on pavilions um for some flooring that we have to do there. Uh it's a longterm project working with black uh to refurbish uh some of the classroom floors. LED lighting. We're asking $75,000. Um we have, as you
know, we've been working on LED, changing the division out LED for several years now. Um we have pretty much completed the insides. Um I'd say we're 95%. Um, and we'll start to move to the exterior lighting and athletic fields. As we get deeper into that, we'll probably proceed with that. But certainly with this restrooms, we've asked for 50,000. So, um, we brief her back before I started um as as director. Uh, all of the um pictures in the bathrooms in some of our older buildings were replaced. They're now they have enough time on them. I start to show some wear and tear um to replace them. So, we're programing money to do pictures and we'll keep that going back to that. It allows me to get my good pictures on. >> Exactly. Um, roof system
replacement are asking $75,000 for this fiscal year. Um, the what I'm looking at is long-term roof replacements at Moss TJ High School. Um, you may not think of that, but we're still in that 20 year window. So, Moss is coming up like three or four years. What I'm using this money for now is to upkeep the existing rooms we have so that we can make sure we construct them as long as we can, but it's still feasible that, you know, they're still functioning rooms. Uh we have no major issues at this point, but I think some of the maintenance things that we have done have kept them to that point and I would like to keep that going. So that's why I'm requesting that money to do that. Asphalt and parking additions. Um this is
focused on the at the high school which is right outside the gym. That lot there getting that repaved and looking at doing some repaving back at the metal gym construction paving. I want to tie it in and take care of the rest of it safely. We're asking 85,000. This is the standard things we have to do for school. schools task force audits uh things like security film and items like that. Uh so this money is to cover cover that any for classroom furniture we're asking for um money for first grade um first grade desk at JW 15,000 So field complex maintenance we're asking 50,000. So what we're seeing with our with our athletic facilities now there hasn't been major work done on them. You know that I did resurface the track a couple of years
ago. Um I think it came out really nicely but um we're looking at the systems the irrigation systems the interings of the area down there is one of going to be a primary focus coming down starting to get some age on it the wiring and the light there's a variety of things that to be on top of so we're asking for that to start doing that process and make sure that we keep them the way that they are 50,000 for cleaning equipment. We have asked for that. Um we have not asked for any money for cleaning equipment i.e. the scrubbers, the different machines that we use in our buildings. We haven't asked for anybody since since I've been involved involved with this. Uh they are past their lifespan. They've done what we can to keep
them going. We're going good. Everything is going good. But my is that I think that you know that we kind of run a course on that and we need to mach we're looking at probably about a 10 year 10 year and as like with the roofing and other things we take steps along the way we refurbish we take old equipment and trade in and work work through it so that keep that thing going. Um, we did our last training last year, so we're kind of lucky to get some stuff so that we can start processing, but we were able to keep them running solid. No tool went without um and we were able to supplement actually when they had extra things going on um over the past year. So, it's worked out well. >> Uh,
actually that's Um, so they have made improvements as we've gotten the different scrubbers with different technologies. Yes, they welcome. Um, the short answer of it, the technology hasn't has gotten better and they do a better job. >> And then my last line is 95,000 for the bleachers. And basically what we're looking throughout the campus um our bleachers have passed their usefulness. Um I'm looking at targeting the middle school baseball softball visitors visitor section at the stadium softball pretty much all of our sports facilities. We're going to take we're going to overall we're going to overview them all and we're going to get what we upgrade everything. So for that section, there app so I needed somebody to help me. >> You're welcome. Stay right here, sir. The So the next item there, if you drop
down below, you can see where we had some money in FY27, $3 million for the elementary school. And that money is being put there as we spoke to you last month regarding enrollment, the enrollment school going up and where we're really feeling like we need to get prepared, be prepared at the elementary level as it continues to grow. We're going across the county, across the division as we highlighted last month, the high school has CP center coming on feel very good about the addition of that capacity and then we have a middle school as well and we feel worried about the capacity that's going to be added there after the year when we open up open the middle school. But the one area that we do need to make sure we're on top of and
working and planning to move in the right direction, take care of what is growth that's already occurred and grow that's most likely to occur as we continue to move forward and that's where FY 27 you see $3 million there and design plan figure out where we exactly put this school as we look to find the areas that are best suit population future population has already been approved for additional units that would be potentially approved population. So that's that's over that next year looking at really plan and then one of the things I have done speaking with Mr. Goodwin at the county and speaking with about this project what we want to do is make sure we're in alignment and understanding where this is. So in talking with he did agree we should put the money
in FY28 to build the school. But one of the things that he spoke about at was he said that the county is um looking at when the revenues will be coming when will the potential revenue from some of the economic development and investments that the county has made when will that when will those revenues potentially hit? They've been talking about when will they get those revenues and do with those revenues. And so one of the things that they really looking at and one communication with us about would be potentially one of their goals would be something to pay a substantial amount to that school with cash if it were available. Uh if they were able to take in enough from some of these extra revenues to do that and the benefit of doing that paying
cash would be not taking on debt for 20 years. Hence the u the u additional funds that would need to come because of that. So that would be a smart move for taxpayers certainly for our community if if that's taken in consideration. I say all that to say speaking with Mr. One of the things you're talking about as they continue to have these conversations he was asking about what is the potential maybe pushing start school out of here if we needed to do that and certainly I told him and would like to tell you tonight that our conversation very much like we want to work with the county every way we can to make sure we're doing what we need to do to be a part of good steward but also making sure we're being
prepared we continue to educate our students in a very positive classroom environment and I think we have a good plan for some of our units that we plan to put out more TJ we have some available already so I think we're prepared and will be prepared as we continue to move the units there out when we take down the pods that are here on the middle school site once that's completed in January I feel like as we move those out we're preparing for that And certainly if need be and the county would ask us to wait, I would recommend that we would wait that year and allow for um that to happen for the county financially. I think we can prepare for that. One of the things I said Mr. Goodman was one of the
things we may need to do. We think we have enough units there to hold that but we may need additional units. something we need to talk with them about if that were curly for the year after but depending on how quickly things grow to grow as our schools continue to grow that will determine you know how much space so um I would say that we're putting it as a placeholder all that to say we're putting it as a placeholder 28 because understand it could occur, but the county sees the opportunity to save quite a bit of money by waiting. I think it would be very smart to work with them on that project as well. So, so that's where you see that in FY 202. to sort of summarize summarize and then say question you
might have the sermon um tossed out the uh the cafeteria equipment which was middle schools the transportation bulk of that our school buses to make sure we continue to to replace buses as necessary last year we focused mainly on our smaller buses this year going back to regular buses on that cycle. Also, children was focusing on Chromebooks and I think he's done a great job of really setting the tone of when you replace those Chromebooks. You get the new one in second grade, you get you get your second one in sixth grade and the next one in ninth grade you through elementary through middle and through high. I think that's also set us up not to have these tremendous four million bills eventually every year. I think that's been a smart recycling process or replacement
process I should say as well as the media class and request there for the MacBook class as well. And then we have outlined several projects going on many of which are routine maintenance types of items throughout the year. And then you know I brought up the fact that the sh a half year or halfife process like 10 years since we certainly something that we all cherish. We were able to do that. But just highlighting that and then and then als recommend that you go forth and go through the planning process, get all that moving in the coming year and be prepared for. >> Yes, sir. >> Just have one question. When the seniors graduate, I don't know how val they have to turn them in. Uh, and then what we do is the ones that
are still and recycle them and they become really well. I mean, we tell them what we need and they work through the accountability part of it and responsibility for us for them to be that much on top of com, especially I think the crucial thing that we do together as we continue to grow as a community. I think we're going to have to really work together to make sure we're providing of the growth to make sure we're provide the best possible possible education we can. And I appreciate the fact I'm just going to say I believe there was a time in the past that wasn't true. and animosity between the two along to agree agree to disagree and work through it and build that you just presented about what year we the elementary school that's
opportunity for both collaboration in other places that need some potent arguments about what support but it's all about what's best for the entire county >> and what we can do what they can do what works best for the taxpayers and if we all work together it's a win situation so I think we got to add to that. I appreciate that. One of the things he said is certainly in that silence. that we have to add something or work through it and questions. So tonight um you know is ourformational session. So we'll be voting for this in December. So um Um we now question that come up just administration questions question the asphalt very now and 2027. >> So on greatness update number five. >> Sure. Sure. I'm very excited to share a few highlights from
my journey for November. We'll start with human resources. Dr. and his team held a substantial subs in the fall. We're very excited for that. Dr. also held a baby workshop for our secondary students which was very much well received. Dr. The instructional team hosted optional after school professional development opportunities for our teachers. They all were very well attended. We hosted sessions on math literacy and technology integration. So we're glad teachers were able to come out and join us to continue to enhance their instructional crafts. We also hosted a divisionwide professional development day known as Ascend. We had over 70 presenters who are on the ground in the field offering teachers an opportunity for voice and choice in all the professional development options. So I'm very excited to do that and also excited to continue to
host our aquatic safety lessons for our second graders across all elementary schools. Again, this program does save lives and our kids are very engaged with the program and we're grateful for your blessing to continue this program partnership here. So thank you. on a CT workforce development budget attended a state CTE conference to get a lot of knowledge backs and Mr. Darwin's uh secured a free diesel engine trade for automotive students which is a blessing as well. It's an excellent resource for our students who are interested in participating in those classes. Moving on to maintenance, Mr. Wallace and his team installed in the esports lab. We installed lights at middle school and we installed soundboards at the technology. Mr. Trump and his team updated devices to Windows 11 I believe. They added intercoms at the lines
and they prepared switches. Miss her team celebrated Garm School week at all of our schools and got local apples as well. And they also harvested tomatoes and lettuce and In regards to Andrew recently created a brochure, badges and other resources for our professional development day. He helped organize the drone show which is remarkable as well. And he created a highlight video of multiple students creating preview maps as part of the studies unit. Lastly least Dr. She participated in a whole walk with social supporters and she also participated in the hometown home country. Yes sir. >> On the aquatic safety students have to participate. >> They don't have to. Uh it's a basically a field trip. So those skills in the community and then those who want to participate just your kids drown the safety piece
which you just mentioned how behave so that >> and just add to that I think the vast majority of our parents do agree to have their students participate. When they don't participate, it's the parents saying we do not want them to participate in a swimming activity. So, >> I understand it. But there's a whole >> Yeah, I understand that. But but at this point, we do give our parents the option, okay, >> to opt out and and I think uh I would say this, the feedback we got from our parents is they appreciate the fact that they have the opportunity to opt out even We have very few that opt out. There's an option there for them to do that. >> I can get you some data on that. >> So, we're on to our
public comment section. So, so 9.03. Check that one out. I want to answer your question for many years. >> I can tell you the vast majority of folks take the water for granted. Don't give it just on the stage of the task force. Our next meeting is on the 13th. I know we're see a couple of you there. A couple key things are going to take place. Mr. Rachel Jones is going to give a presentation. We're all on duty. I think find that pretty interesting. Uh and then we'll be going over the all the a place that we've been working on for the past couple months or so. Uh that's it. Any questions I can answer related to the school? I don't think so. >> Is that correct? >> So that's case four is open
and like so individual. >> So I don't see anyone coming forward. Public comment section. So Mr. Harris, any questions on the report? I was just going to comment with our attendance. It looks like it's been holding strong. >> Great. Looks really good. >> Looks really good. >> I can't commend our attendance specialist and our building level organization enough for staying on top of it and really making a priority. I think Carlo would echo those thoughts. I mean, it just really is something we prioritize and need to qualify. They need to be here if they're going to learn and so many other reasons as well. >> Keep an open facilities. Thank you for your efforts on that. Um anything else? If not, um >> actually almost have a motion before we get there. Um we have
our regular school board meeting is back on Tuesday, December second. And the SBA annual conferences this month, November 19th. So, we have a motion to adjourn. >> He's got the first. Who's got the second? >> Second. >> Mr. Got the second. Any further discussion? >> There be none. All those in favor signify by saying >> I motion pass. We are everybody.
