only to uh to the other members of the audience but also to the board and also we ask that members of audience be respectful of the of the speakers um and we also ask that any expr of approval or disapproval unless directed by the chair please don't take place we want to hear what everyone has um free from any extraneous disruption so that I will turn it over to debb before the speak Michael mclam good evening chair Taylor and members of the board first I'd like to uh give a compliment uh to Marty sharp uh for earlier this morning his a presentation at the board's workday it was a master for job you could literally feel passion Mr Sharp has work generative AI is indeed a tool and schools should find a way to use

it properly and with academic Integrity I was thoroughly impressed the diligent approach of Mr Sharp and his team this school district is lucky to have dedicated professionals generative AI may have enormous potential for our society however I urge the board to remember and recognize that it could become another me from the half knots we must recognize that all students have the resources or the atmosphere at home to make the most of a tool completely dependent upon it advice internet second I'd like to give a brief comment on partisanship I found it interesting earlier today that no new candidates running for election to the school board were present logic tells me someone with sincere interest in serving on the board improving our public education system ought to attend every meeting open to the public if they

don't have the time or commitment to the board's entire workload as a candidate how will they have it once elected further making School Board elections partisan may do little more than benefit the politically ambitious partisanship does nothing productive for our schools teachers or students thank you thank you Mr MCL the next speaker is Kevin Sparks you have to forgive me I have a trouble with my glasses and reading and looking so I'm going to be a little scattered here I want to read a selection of a book that I discovered last night is on the shelves in our libraries and I think it's positively scandalous and I think you'll agree with me this should be removed immediately I'm going to read the English translation it was of course written in Middle English not all of

us had to study it in Middle English so the copies that are on our shelter are in English and I'll read it as such this Absalon wiped his mouth very dry dark was the night as pitch or as cold and at the window out she put her hole and ab un to him it happened no better but with his mouth he kissed her naked ass with great relish before he was aware of this there are 91 copies of this filth on our shelves it was there there as part of a democratic conspiracy to construct a moral nightmare for our students that was all irony this was written in 1430 this is of course Canterbury Tales 1430 it was written it on our sh because it's an incredibly important piece of literature and yet if you

read these few lines you think merciful Lord this is awful putting her naked butt and we'll tell you Middle English in some manuscripts there are several it's worse than that it uses a term for female genitalia that I won't repeat here and it's in Middle English you might not understand it anyway 91 copies on the shelves why is it there because it was written in a dialect of English that was typical in the pubs and ins in London in the 1400s why did he tell stories that were so revolved because that is the way people on the road in England talked authors write for Their audience there is not necessarily a moral lesson in everything that's written it's stories it's portrayal of how people are we need look for every book to have an important

moral lesson that teaches people how to get out of the situation of The Carpenter's wife having a flame with the young student it's just stories they are not there to corrupt anyone's morals they're there to portray life in all its richness I will point out that Shakespeare himself 200 years later picked up the dialect and it was the foundation for I Amic contamin now if you want look at scandalous SC Romeo and Juliet maybe we'll talk about that next time thank you thank you Mr Sparks the next speaker is Erin Sherm so as many of us in this room know this is an election year and several members of our current board stand for reelection I want to remind everyone on our board that your role as School Board member is not to vote on

decisions in such a way to get more votes from the public Your Role is not to give in to the bullies and the loudest people who are yelling Your Role is to act in the best interests of every student and every faculty member and every teacher in our school system the bullies right now are yelling very loudly they're saying some very intimidating things try not to let that get to you vote instead with love Lead With Love don't let the fear-mongering affect you I know that sometimes voting in the best interests of all of our schools and all of our staff members and all of our students May sometimes go against what your personal feelings are right and wrar and if you have enough I don't know the right word for it if you are

able to get past that and to act in the best interests of everyone thank you and I applaud you remember School Board is not about politics it's not about getting the other than if you have succeeded in being the best possible board for everyone in our school system not just conservative Christians not just liberals everyone and it's a hard balance to achieve thank you thank you Mrs sherar our next speaker is clay mullus uh good evening board I thank you for your time I want to bring your attention two things and one really concerns one of the people that wrote this in the newspapers actually employee of the school system but in the past few weeks there's been two articles in the Hickory Daily Record under the letters to the editor one is keep Church

separate in Kaba County spools and the other one is there's no Boogeyman in Kataba County Schools I had the privilege and the honor to be at the February 13th meeting Greek candidate hosted by the League of Women Voters in Kataba County at the Kaba Valley Community College a an employee that is a science teacher at St Stevens High School had a letter to to the editor uh describing three Mama Bear candidates from the Board of Education and at that meeting and her article she says out of the three candidates on Tuesday the 13th at the meat candidate form hosted by the League of Women Voters Ina County none of the three could give me an example of CRT or Dei currently being taught at K County Schools the funny thing there is that individual never

asked me that question not one time and that's applauding and that's slander and that's lying and what concerns me is this person is a teacher in this school system if she's willing to do that in the paper I don't have a problem with anybody disagreeing with My Views I can respect that I respect chairman Taylor I may not agree with his issues but I will say this for Mr Taylor he'll let you know where he stands and I respect that but for somebody to go to the newspaper and slander me for things I didn't say is wrong and to categorize the three candid Cates three of the five candidates running for school board that we say that the school system is faing and that we're thinking the administrators and teachers faing is absolute false and

lie and I don't appreciate it that's the name of the game and the other thing is from the first vice chair of the Democrat Party for Kaba County wants to continue to slander those people that are Christian conservatives we're for slavery we're for women suffrage I have a problem with that and the problem is they don't want to talk about the real issues of education and how do we do that how do we raise the standards of our school not just in the state and the nation how do we get on the global stage that's what we want to focus on is education certainly I have my beliefs in Christ and I have every right to be if I'm related to the board have those rights doesn't mean we're going to sit up here and

throw the Bible and say let's have prayer and you've got to read the Bible that's not what it's about but I have a problem when we have a party and Leadership that pushes an agenda that has nothing to do with education and believes that there's more than two genders and believe that men can have menstrual cycles I have a problem with that and those are the people that here that are fear Marling and pushing an agender and it's wrong and somebody needs to stand up and stop it thank you clarification I just like to ask if you would have the speaker clarify where that that those things he mentioned are happening in our school have you did you hear the question I did what's scary verify which schools and I can talk to you after

the meeting because it's more in depth than that okay well I'm going to tell you what it is is it's happening all around this state maybe not in Kaba County Schools but the thing is this board better be aware that it's coming and you better be aware of it again I'll let you speak to that Mr M you democrat next time thank you thank you speakers and again we appreciate the input from all members of the public chairman have ad or pardon me chairman Taylor members of the board uh I'm bringing to you our consent items uh uh this evening um like to uh note that the only change in there I requested earlier was the addition to our of our bandy's uh baseball team uh who would like to go to uh Beach to

play in the tournament again we do late late submission that we do have the appropriate amount of uh adult chaperon um and um if there's any be happy to answer them Dr I do have one question on page three of the consent item of the travel tracker report had a question about the number of chaperons for the very first trip Andy's high school I'm certainly certain noticed the chaperons and the stud chapons actually and then females St members out of our school or some thank you Mr Miss West Morland I figured that was it because we wouldn't have 20 teachers out in one okay there other questions about any of the consent items hearing none I will entertain motion to approve the consent item appr consent items as presented I have motion on the floor

I take and a second thank you m Richards all in favor of approval of the consent items by raising your hand and that is unanimous thank you we will recognize Mr moris for unfinished business construction updates thank you chairman Taylor members of the board Dr um these photographs are a couple of weeks old and we haven't made a lot of progress on the outside of the building but we have on the inside of the building as I mentioned earlier today the switch gear is here so it will help us energize the building quickly we need to do that be able to begin completing finishes in the building both tile floors and painting you see there a photograph from the outside that's the media center that is where the drive will Serpentine and they go around

the side of the building toward bobm for parent drop off cool cooler and freezer installation there noted in the kitchen excuse me Chiller and Transformer are now set in the equipment yard as well as all of our shingles and brick are complete Windows have been installed in that facility again once we're able to energize the building and control the humidity we can move forward with the finishes that's one of our long hallways and you can see that mechanical piping that is installed overhead that is the gym and the uh cafeteria that you see that large building or that large part of the building there the photograph to the right cable tray being installed in the 500 Corridor hold all of our data cabling we're beginning to frame out the administration area in that right hand

photog lastly that exhaust Hood being installed in the kitchen as well as the beginning of ceiling grid so we're making a great deal of progress as I said earlier this morning hi conru we appreciate their diligence their desire to deliver the building to us on time I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have at this point actually goes probably without saying but at least they're at a point now where weather is not going to be a major issue with where they exact yes we were down there last week for our monthly meeting I was surprised now it looks very muddy in these photographs a week PRI and I think it's going to be M again but it was very dry and very firm they had short that up pretty well they have taken

some mud out and put some Stone in was much better and traveling around that building uh if the board would know we would like to conduct another walkth through with the faculty and staff we're looking at March the 20th as a possible date um by then time will have changed won't be as you know constricted by the sun going down and we think it would be a good idea for our faculty and staff to see the progress that we've made in that building so if you could pencil that date in Wednesday March the 20th I think it is a Wednesday yes um we're hoping to have another opportunity to visit the SL is there a time day uh we haven't established the time yet we want to make sure that we'll coincide with Miss penman's

wishes and staff come down the hill I think the last time it was at 4 maybe did we do that yeah I think it was at four o'clock I'll I'll try to tie that down and make sure that you're aware of that site visit but we're excited it's coming together and uh we're looking for any other questions for Mr Moore Mr Moore thank you for the work you've done District but especially on the maiden project the next item on our unfinished business agenda is the selection of a date for the board hearing for uh the book Challenge on the book 19 minutes by jod pult um I will entertain Mr Miller where are we statutory requirements as far as the date that meeting I'm sorry I forgot you can't just talk anymore our new technology

if I'm not mistaken I think we're beyond that date I think I don't speak for you but I think you had agreed to uh extend that date correct I thought it was March 6 was the date that we had to do this by okay we haven't made it there yet but so say that again Mr sh please we I did agree to extend that date yes I did okay so whatever date suits the board I think it's fine if M agree previously to extend that okay um I'll open the floor for suggestions on a date to they Challenge on 19 minut our regular schedu meeting is the correct 25th of March yes sir I think this morning we voted to have a public uh meeting in Kataba on the 11th March uh March 18th has

been suggested that date u i mean work for me but I know they I'll listen to the pleasure of the board on while people check their calendars hearing no uh input either way Mr abery if you want to put that in the form of a motion yes I that we the 19 minute uh book challenge uh for March 18th I'm assuming six o'clock there is a motion on the floor and a second any further discussion hearing none all board members in favor of the book challenge hearing being held on Monday March 18th pleasey by raising your hand again that is unanimous so the book Challenge on 19 minutes will be March 18 6:m here and U pursuant to our policy or our procedure we will have a public hearing at the start of that meeting
