Mr. Delos >> here. >> Miss Asterino >> here. >>

Mr. Cass >> here. >> Mr. Anderson >> here. >> Mr. Capello >> here. >> Mr. Kim >> here. >> Thank you. I'll proceed uh to read the annual uh result of the uh school election held November 4th, 2025. The candidates, Mr. Don Cass with vote 5,127. Miss Andrea Sidelis 5,365 votes. The votes counted for the question on the election ballot are as follows. The yes 4,684, the nos 3,043. At this time, I would like to ask for board president nomination. >> Um, I would like to nominate Dr. Clifford Moore to for the nomination of board president. >> I'll second our roll call. Uh, you can say yes or no. >> Dr. Moore. >> Uh, yes. Miss Delis, >> yes. >> Miss Asterino, >> yes. >> Mr. Cass, >> yes. >> Mr. Anderson, >> yes. >>

Mr. Capello, >> yes. >> Mr. Kim, >> yes. >> Thank you. Congratulations, M. Dr. Moore. [applause] Cheers. >> Dr. Moore, you may uh resume the meeting. >> Okay. So, I'd like to start by uh opening nominations for vice president. I I'd like to nominate uh Miss Andrea Zidelis for vice president of the board of education. >> I'd like to second roll call. Dr. Moore. >> Yes. >> Miss Delos. >> Yes. >> Miss Asterino. [clears throat] >> Yes. >> Mr. Cass. >> Yes. >> Mr. Anderson. >> Yes. >> Mr. Capello. >> Yes. >> Mr. Kim. >> Yes. >> And I guess now is the uh portion where I make some comments. Um, [snorts] first of all, uh, thank you very much for the nomination and the the vote of confidence. Um we'll we'll see if that

was well placed or not. Um I just I guess I want to say that um from the moment that I I came onto the board um I was surprised at how healthy and well-run it's uh it was. Um and you can kind of tell by the way that these elections go. There's no uh contention. there's no, you know, politics or backdoor things going on. And and I've I've heard of a lot, you know, I've heard of a lot of um situations where um the the fight to be president becomes some kind of like internal battle, which I don't quite understand because as far as I can tell, there aren't really any perks to the position. Um but but there aren't any perks to uh the board of education, right? we're we're basically just, you know,

uh volunteer civil civil servants and um at least the way it is here in in in Dville. Um I I was recently at a uh a play at another school and I I was walking by and I saw the uh the board of education parking spot which made me wonder like why they need a parking spot, but it just says how there other schools there there are other things going on, right? and and and here there's I don't think there's any agenda and and what I really appreciate and I was thinking about when we had a tough uh mildly tough vote uh a month or so ago and I was thinking about how um that went and how different it was and I was trying to put my finger on what it was and I

think it's that you know the voting oftentimes with us is is is a formality we we tend to to go by consensus you know we we we work together we we talk it through and at the end there's a consensus. Sometimes we're um not in complete agreement or sometimes it's um you know partial agreement but in the end we we we're fairly comfortable with each other and and trust each other and um that's not I don't know why that is. I I don't know how that happened. I I I have to defer to the the folks that have been here longer. perhaps uh uh Don and and and Mike and and Dino somehow created this this incredible culture that we have. But uh I say that tongue and cheek, but I I know they must

have had something to do with that because it is unique and I really appreciate that and I'm I'm I'm proud of of of the fact that um regardless of any kind of personal agenda, I think everyone here really attempts to do what's best for the school and the students. And um you know I I really appreciate that. So uh thanks again and and bear with me because there will be quite a bit of stumbling um involved in all this. But you know thank you again. [applause] So now I have a a item committees. Um what am I supposed to do with that? wants to be. >> Oh, okay. Yeah. I I I guess I mean that that seems a little uh maybe maybe we can um if it's all right with everyone here, maybe we

could table that and keep things as they are for for now and we'll I'll I'll send out an email and and we'll look at I mean, everyone here is was here the previous year and um you know, I I don't think it it makes much sense to just um try and get that settled now. But if we could keep it as as is for now and I'll I'll send out an email if anyone wants to make a change. We can kind of work on that. Um I guess at this point we open up for uh for public discussion. So um this portion of the meeting is open to any individuals for the purpose of addressing resolutions on this agenda or matters that they find is important to the board of education and is governed by

board policy uh 0167. And uh we can open the uh public discussion portion at uh IF72. >> Correct. Seeing that no one has uh come forward and uh no one is online, we will close the public discussion section at also 7:12 according to my computer. So the first item under uh our our reorg is appointments uh uh under a appointments. Uh can someone uh move us through that? As I understand it, we can do that kind of as a block. You don't have to read every every single item. Is that correct? >> It's a pretty extensive um block of different vendors reapproving them uh for the next calendar year. Yes. It's about three four pages. So we can move them as a block or we can just name them individually. Entirely up to you. >>

Mi Mr. Kim, could you do that as a as a way of >> Sure, I'd be happy to. Uh I motion that we approve um the section V appointments as a blocks numbers one through >> 29 which is on page 10. >> I'll second. Um, Dearis, do we need to manually add in under uh item number 19 Dr. Moore's name? >> Correct. Yes. Thank you for pointing that out. >> Um, >> and then I just had a quick question about the uh assignment of the auditor. Um, are we still planning on having them come do a presentation to us? I thought I remember some discussion last year about the possibility of having them come in and give us a presentation about their processes. And am I misremembering that? >> No. Um, Mr. Capello, we you

and I both missed that meeting because I think it was a meeting that uh that you were unavailable for and then I suddenly had to be absent for. So, >> um I believe the results of that is is on YouTube as well. >> Yeah, it is. But we could have them come to a committee meeting if you like an online meeting, but they yeah, they did spend some time going over it and talked about the case that's been in the news lately um and had some conversation with that. And then also Dearis and we both spoke to the board about things that we have in place that are kind of in place to prevent some of those things that we already have going. But we'd be happy to talk more about it with the board.

Um >> no, I mean if I I can I'll review the meeting minutes. That's fine. Um if >> they came into the finance committee as well too and then to the public meeting and but they will be willing to come to another board meeting or financial finance meeting if you >> would like to. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> Any other questions or comments? Uh the only other um item that I would like to point out is item number 18, the the purchasing threshold increased from 43,000 to 53,000 for the for this new school year. Okay, if there are no other questions or comments, uh, roll call. >> Dr. Moore, >> yes. >> Miss Delos, >> yes. >> Miss Asterino, >> yes. >> Mr. Cass, >> yes. >> Mr. Anderson, >> yes. >> Mr. Capello,

>> yes. >> Mr. Kim, >> yes. >> Okay. The next item is the adoption of the uh public meetings calendar. Um, I uh move that the following be adopted for resolution. Under number one, it's uh that the board adopt the attached 2026 board of education public meeting calendar. >> Second. >> If there are no questions or comments, roll call. um for the October 26 meeting. Does that fall in conflict with the New Jersey school board's uh convention? >> They have not released the date for the convention yet. >> Okay. So, when they do then um >> address it. >> We'll address it. Thank you. >> Okay. If there are no other comments or questions, roll call. >> Dr. Moore, >> yes. >> Miss Sidelis, >> yes. >> Miss Astrino, >> yes. >> Mr. Cass, >>

yes. >> Mr. Anderson, >> yes. >> Mr. Capello, >> yes. >> Mr. Kim, >> yes. >> Okay. And now I'll open up for uh good of the cause. Um, in particular, we have to uh read our uh code of ethics. And if each one of us could take an item, maybe uh um Mr. Capello, if we could start with with you on A and we'll just run down. >> Sure, I'd be happy to. Um a school board member shall abide by the following code of ethics for school board members. A I will uphold and enforce all laws, rules, and regulations of the state board of education and court orders pertaining to schools. Desired changes shall be brought about only through legal and ethical procedures. >> B. I will make decisions in terms of the educational

welfare of children and will seek to develop and maintain public schools that meet the individual needs of all children regardless of their ability, race, creed, sex, or social standing. >> C. I will confine my board action to policym, planning and appraisal and I will help to frame policies and plans only after the board has consulted those who will be affected by them. >> I will carry out my responsibility not to administer the schools but together with my fellow board members to see that they are all they are wellrun. E. I will recognize that authority rests with the board of education and will make no personal promises nor take any private action that may compromise the board. F. I will refuse to surrender my independent judgment to special interest or partisan political groups or to use

the schools for personal gain or for the gain of friends. I will hold confidential all matters pertaining to the schools which if disclosed would needlessly injure individuals or the schools. In all other matters, I will provide accurate information and in concert with my fellow board members, interpret to the staff the aspirations of the community for its school. >> H I will vote to appoint the best qualified personnel available after consideration of the recommendation of the chief administrative officer. I I will support and protect school personnel in proper performance of their duties. >> J I will refer all complaints to the chief administrative officer and will act on the complaints at public meetings only after failure of an administrative solution. >> Okay. And uh at this time we would uh open up the second um open

public meeting form. Okay. So this portion of the meeting is open to any individuals for the purpose of addressing resolutions on this agenda or matters that they find is important to the board of education and again is governed by board policy 0167. And we'll open that at 7:20. and we'll close it at 7:20 seeing that no one's come forward and no one's online. >> Dr. Moore, can I remind the board to sign the acknowledgement or receipt of the code of ethics and hand them to me at the end of the board meeting, please? >> Thank you. Now we're we're going to adjourn this meeting and then move on to the work session. Right. Okay. So >> motion to >> I motion to adjurnn. >> Second. >> Okay. Any nazs or abstensions? Okay. Meeting adjourned. Yeah,

that was All right, we'll do call to order. Um, this meeting of the Dville Township Board of Education is being held in accordance with the P Open Public Meetings Act. Notice of this meeting was provided to the daily record andor the Star Ledger of Morris County has been delivered to the township clerk and has been posted on the bulletin board of the board of education office and at each of the school buildings in the district. Roll call. >> Dr. Moore >> here. >> Misselis >> here. >> Miss Asterino >> here. >> Mr. Cass >> here. >> Mr. Anderson >> here. >> Mr. Capello here. >> Mr. Kim >> here. >> Okay, we've already uh done the pledge of allegiance. Uh seeing there's no special presentations, we can go straight to the superintendent comments. >> Thank

you. Um just a couple quick announcements. One is um our social studies teachers partnered with the um with the township with the mayor and they're creating what I think is a pretty cool thing. It's a countdown for the uh 250th birthday of our country. It started on the 1st. Every every day there's a new um graphic about a new event that happened on that day. So like what happened on January 1, 1776 and so on for the ne for the full year our so as our social studies teachers with Mr. Englishman and the social studies students did this. It's in the tap. I put it out in your packet too if you want to take a look not the packet but in the report. Um next thing we have we did update our website. So

um if you want to go on your computer and look at it but right now um Mr. is going to put it up on the web on the uh on the screen here, but you can look at it on your computer as well. So, the website is um it's the same company. It's the same it's it's the same um provider. It's a new template. So, we picked this template. It was something that I've been reporting on for a while. And we have um you know, you can breeze through it. It's uh it's just more modernized, modern looking and uh hopefully um hopefully it's good and if the board would like to talk more about it as we go along as part of our goals if we want to change it. I know there's a big

picture of me on there. I know that's why you guys are laughing on the end. That's funny. But still, um it's uh it's I think it looks a lot better than the old one. It's it's definitely more modern looking and um we'd be happy to hear your comments on it. We've gotten some positive feedback already from the uh public. So, um this thing went live on the 19th of December. All right. Are we going to be able to get that other thing up? All right. >> The second thing, second comment I had was um let's see if you can get that other thing. >> Rebecca, you may just have to drag it. >> There we go. All right. So, I want to just highlight one of our staff members, their skills that we have. We

have master carpenter who's actually a cabinet builder in his previous career. His name is Tom Matthews. He's the gentleman that that did all the doors in the district. But these cabinets right here were looking horrible in Riverview. This is the Riverview nurse's office. Like the the laminate was coming off just like the doors were. And rather than buying new ones, not not just for the cost, but for the quality because the quality of the of the door of the cabinets was good. It was uh of solid co quality, but the veneer was coming off. [clears throat] That's the finished product after he's done with it. So, I just wanted to highlight that. That's our that's our own Tom Matthews that uh spent Christmas vacationing upgrading these uh cabinets. So, um I think it's sometimes important

just to make sure everybody knows that we have a lot of different talented people in our in our district. Um [clears throat] we have we also got something else I thought was kind of cool too. Our um our Valley View Green Team was recognized by the Mars County Utilities Authority as having the most volunteers for the um school cleanups. So there was like this idea of going around making sure there's not garbage on the ground and things like that. So we had over 200 students participate. So in the whole county that was the largest number of volunteers. So I thought that was a pretty cool stat and I just wanted to share that with the group. And next at [clears throat] the next meeting Dr. Collins and myself will update the board the district goals.

That's it for superintendent comments. And next we have assistant superintendent comments. >> We did get a few new kindergarters today. So we have gone up by three. Uh 80 students at Lake View and 92 at Riverview for a total of 172 kindergarteners. Uh our screenagers viewing at Valley View uh will be on January 28th at 7 p.m. And this is the second movie in the series, The Screenagers Next Chapter, Addressing Mental Health in the Digital Age. So that will be at Valley View on the 28th in the gym. Uh I also want to acknowledge another one of our talents in the district. She actually is here right now. Our literacy coach, Amy Rossi, is in the back. We talk about her often, but she is here tonight. And I did want to acknowledge the fact

that she was asked by the reading and writing project to be a presenter at the March Saturday reunion. This is an international uh convention and so there are thousands of people all over the world that attend and she will be presenting which is really a great honor. Uh I'm really excited uh for that. So congratulations Amy. And with that they've also been consulting they have published their new um reading and writing units of study and they've been consulting Amy a lot on the we've been piloting them and they have asked her to be responsible to take pictures for the upcoming uh books that will be published and she did and they uh got all the permissions from our students families and we will be the students that will be in the new curriculum for reading

and writing. workshop. So that is exciting. So thank you Amy. This concludes assistant superintendent report. And now uh business administrator's comments. Uh so now as I understand it I I have the uh opportunity perhaps this is uh my my first privilege as uh as a newly elected president. I get to announce um our uh our next superintendent uh and that of course is Dr. Cullis and she will be taking over uh when Dr. Forte retires. And I just uh this is a a privilege for me because I can speak on half on behalf of the board and I know uh every single person here is uh excited about you taking over. We have the utmost confidence in you and are thankful that you are willing to take that position and um that you were here

to take that position. Um it's exciting. There was never any real doubt in our our mind about who we wanted. So, um, you have our our full support and and confidence and, uh, we want you to know that we really appreciate you and, uh, appreciate the fact that you're willing to take this this role on in our district. So, thank you very much. I was following uh >> sorry >> Mr. Kim's lead on when I was allowed to do this. Uh now I need some assistance. Okay. So um we'll we'll now open to uh public discussion uh agenda items only. This portion of the meeting is open to any individuals for the purpose of addressing resolutions on the agenda or matters that they find is important to the board of education and is governed by

board policy 0167. Um, so we will open public discussion at 7:32 and no one uh in the audience. So we'll close it at uh 7:32. Next item is uh old business. No action to be taken. Uh M. Sadelis, would you mind taking that? Thank you. >> Uh so at the next meeting, uh myself or someone else will present the following resolutions. Um the board approved the following reports for December 2025, the education reports for December 2025, and the minutes for the December 15th meeting. And uh item uh new business actions to be taken. Um under personnel, I'll take that one. Um I'd like to move uh for approval the following resolutions under personnel. Under item number one is uh to provide math tutoring not to exceed 40 hours for uh under A for three teachers.

Under item number B is a resignation effective 130 2026. Number two is to approve the attached employment contract for Dr. Sandra Cullis for the superintendent position effective July 1st, 2026 through June 30th, 2029 school year as approved by the executive county superintendent. Number three is that the board retroactively approve uh a leave of absence and number four is to resend the 12525 appointment of Laurianne Sadis for uh full-time instructional aid at Lake View. >> I'll second. Uh it looks like there's a there's an addendum under number one which is C that the school counselor Deborah Maneri is uh retiring effective 7126 and item number five that the board approve an extended leave of absence. >> I'll also second that. >> There are no comments or questions. Roll call. >> Can I make a comment first?

>> Yeah. I thought we Yeah, >> that was quick. You said you said if there's none. No, I'll I'll I'll defer to you guys first and then I have something to say at the end. >> Um yeah, no, I just wanted to kind of echo Cliff's earlier comments. Um to congratulations to Sandy. I've had the pleasure of working her with her for the past 11 years or so, uh closely on imp particularly. So, uh this is great. This is something we I've looked forward to for quite a while. Um, so congratulations and we're really happy that this is happening. Now, >> I'll just make a quick comment that um, you know, Dr. Moore mentioned earlier that the board runs effectively, but the board doesn't run effectively without the leadership of the three of you that

help us along the way. And Dr. Collus, I just want to say thank you for everything you've done as the assistant superintendent. And we're super excited to have you as our superintendent and lead the district. Uh no doubt that we're heading in the right direction in a large part because of the leadership that you've had and you'll continue to have. >> Okay. I have a few things to say and I uh I don't normally write anything. I don't want to forget anything so I'm going to read it instead of what my normal thing is. So it's weird because I've never done this before, right? This is my first time doing this saying I'm retired and passing the torch. So, um, it's definitely it's a proud moment for me. Um, we've worked together for 12 years.

I've had the privilege of working side by side. We've been through a lot together. Some of the most challenging moments in public public education and some of the most rewarding. A great example is the COVID pandemic. [clears throat] There was definitely no playbook for what schools should do and no answers. But Dr. Culla stepped up every single day with calm leadership, thoughtful decisions, and genuine care for our students and staff. She led the development and implementation of our educational plans during both virtual instruction and once we returned in person, navigating constantly changing regulations while keeping the teaching and learning moving together. There were some very long days, long decisions, and she never wavered once on doing what was the right for kids, which was getting them back in school every day. That was really a

big driving force with Sandy. Um, more recently, the successful passage of our referendum is something we both poured our hearts into. It wasn't just a vote. It was the community coming together around a shared vision of what our schools can be. And Dr. Cullles was instrumental in that effort, even if it was really mostly to support me, which I really appreciate it. Um, I want people to know Sandy knows Danville. She loves this community. She understands our history, our values, and more importantly, the needs of our students and staff. On a personal note, I feel incredibly lucky to have worked alongside Sandy for as long as we have. She has made me a better leader and she has been a true partner through every challenge and every success. She has also been the calm voice

of reason when I needed it most and can't tell you how much that's meant to me over the years. I couldn't be prouder to hand things over to someone who cares so deeply and has earned the opportunity in every possible way. Denville is in great hands with Dr. Sandy Collins. Congratulations and thank you. >> May I say a few words? >> Well, it's been a long adventure, a long time coming, a lot of years working on this and I have a lot of people to thank for it. I do thank the board for having the confidence in me and I've worked with many of you for so long that I do feel like I know where your um heart lies and we share those same goals. Working with Dr. Forte has been amazing. I've learned

so much. It was a great decision uh to hire him and we we worked very well together. I will miss him dearly and I know I will call him quite often. he's already offered to be uh at the end of the line. So, I appreciate that. I also [snorts] would like to thank my family because they've definitely been with me through the entire time. So, my husband and my children that are here and continue to support me every day. And I also have a friend here. So, Amy and I have worked together for 16 years. And uh she supported me in another district and and also in this. So, it is it's really been a team effort. I do love Denville. Sometimes I forget that I don't live in Denbilt because I seem to spend

most of my time here. They have so many great community events that I even spend my weekends coming here. So, uh I I look forward to continuing all of the work that the board and the district and the community have set forth and we will just keep this journey going and continue to make uh Denville the best that it can be uh for our students. So, thank you. just so I don't screw this up anymore. Is there any other uh comments? Uh anyone want to say anything else? And I guess maybe afterwards there'll be time for some pictures and Yeah. Okay. In that case, roll call. Dr. Moore, >> yes. >> Mr. Delis, >> yes. >> Miss Eststerino, >> yes. >> Mr. Cass, >> yes. >> Mr. Anderson, >> yes. >> Mr. Capello, >> yes.

>> Mr. Kim, >> yes. They do. >> They do. >> So funny. >> Nice. Now, those of us that have middle schoolers, they all know him already. So, >> Mr. Cullis, [laughter] >> what? >> Oh my gosh, that's hilarious. And yes, the future leader of your district, but yes, I am Mr. calls his mom. >> Aren't we always though? Like at the end of the day, we're just >> we're somebody's mom. >> Yep. >> Not all of us. >> Not all of you, but the three four of us here. Yeah. >> Um All right. So, now we will do uh instruction and program. Um Mr. Capello, would you take us through that? Yeah, be happy to. If there are no objections under instruction and program, I'd like to move items one, two, and three. One

are approval of student interns for the remainder of the 2526 school year. Number two is approving uh title three consortium purchases listed uh A through G. And finally, number three is the approved list of field trips for 2526 school year. >> I'll second. >> Any questions or comments? Roll call. >> Dr. Moore. >> Yes. >> Misselis, >> yes. >> Miss Eststerino, >> yes. >> Mr. Cass, >> yes. >> Mr. Anderson, >> yes. >> Mr. Capello, >> yes. >> Mr. Kim, >> yes. >> There's uh nothing under governance. So that brings us to finance. Um >> Mr. Cass, would you mind taking us through that? We'll do turn the page. >> Thank you. >> Am I looking at the wrong page here? >> Page four of seven. >> Oh, I got it. Okay. Yep. Going to

move to for the board to dispose of attach obsolete equipment and the board to approve an obsolete floor scrubber machine tag number seven. Eight >> a second. Okay. Um I just have a quick question on the the obsolete equipment. It looks like they're all laptops and I was just curious what is our disposition on those like where where do we is there somebody because I know there used to be people that would take them and repurpose them for people who didn't have machines. >> Many times uh we put them out for a bit for auction and that's what we accumulating all of these old obsolete equipment put a bit out to see if anybody's interested. If not we just dispose them. >> Okay. So there might be some nominal money if if somebody correct. Okay.

Thank you. So first we take all the parts >> then we see if anybody wants them but after that mostly most nobody wants them then we send them to a recycler. >> Got it.
