Please stand for the pledge of allegiance nation andice for all. Mrs. >> Mrs. Mr. Ki Mrs. Pops >> here >> Dr. Isacson >> here Mr. Sullivan Mr. Miller >> Mrs. Wayne >> Mrs. motion and second, please for the approval of the agenda. >> Are there any questions? >> In favor, >> good evening. We are continuing to inch closer to the end of the school year. Only 17 more schools to go. Today, the Future Teachers Club went on a districtwide visitation, and seniors attending RCBC next year went to RCBC to begin registering for their classes. Beginning Wednesday is the Brooklyn Carnival, so make sure you go out and enjoy a fun night
of games and rides. This Thursday is a half day, but also prom night for attending juniors and seniors. There are many fun and exciting activities coming up for students, especially for those seniors. June 2nd is the decision day breakfast. June boarding night. June 4th is the senior lunchon and underassman picnic. June 11th is the athletic celebration night. June 16th is the senior clap out and senior picnic. June 17th is the senior sunset and June 19th is senior graduation. Before I end my speech for the night, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for coming to all these meetings the past few years. This is my last meeting as a board of ed after three years and I will be graduating in just a few short weeks. Thank you. >> [applause] >> We're
going to start with our recognition. We'll start with the high school, Mr. Kogan. >> All right. So, it's my pleasure to introduce Grace Avula. Grace, come on up. [applause] you right here >> so that can see you, the audience can see you, and we're going to watch a video that is fantastic. And then after that, I'm going to say just a few words about Grace and how awesome she is. Video first. [music] >> My name is Grace Avula. I have attended Florence Stans Memorial High School all four years of my high school career where I have participated on the varsity football and basketball cheerleading team. I'm a member of the National Honor Society, Interact Club, and cooking club. Through these opportunities, they have opened many doors that have allowed me to become more of an
active member in my community. What I love most about Florence Township Memorial High School is the teachers. I have been met with nothing but support from my teachers here like Miss Parita, Mr. Wilson, Miss Diaz, and many others. The teachers here wear many hats besides educator. They are role models, club adviserss, coaches, and always keep an open door for their students to talk. [music] They do not just teach for 45 minutes a day, but they prepare their students for beyond the classroom. My favorite subject is English because it allows me the freedom of expression. I feel most creative in English and enjoy the subjectiveness of reading. I feel like this class challenges me the most and requires all my energy to deep dive into text and reading. This makes me truly appreciate literature and my
teachers who work hard to teach me these complicated [music] texts. Outside of school, I like to work out, kick my dog on walks, paint, and hang out with my friends. As my time at Florence comes to a close, I am forever grateful for the memories and friendships I made at the school. After graduation, I plan to study business at the Smeil College of Business at Penn State University for the next four years. >> [music] [music] [applause] >> All right. Grace is an amazing student. She is humble, intelligent, and hardwork. She is a leader inside and outside of the classroom. Outside of the classroom, Grace is a four-year member of the varsity cheer team for both football and basketball, a four-year member of the Interact Club, and a valuable member of the National Honor Society. In
the classroom, Grace has taken our most challenging and rigorous classes, and she has done incredibly well in them. In fact, before the start of this school year, so before the start of been taking classes this year. Grace was recognized by the college board as an AP scholar [clears throat] with honor. We are very proud of Grace and all that she has accomplished as as a student at her high school. We are confident that she will go on to find great success in college. Congratulations, Grace, on being our student of the month for [applause] Miss Hope for the Riverfront School. >> Hi, welcome everyone. So, our student of the month is [applause] so we'll watch video and then I will say great things about Hello, my name is Pender Singh and I'm April's student of the
month for Riverfront Middle School. So, my hobbies in and out of school for me can include playing chess. I find it fun and amusing to play when my brain can feel foggy or I'm just trying to look for something to do for fun. And I also love to bike when the weather is nice and explore the town since it always feels so calm. And when it's a nice day, I also like to take out my drone for a spin and take some cool pictures with the throne and explore areas I've never seen or been to. If I had to choose my favorite subject, it would be math because I found it so interesting learning about something new and how math can always really make a lot of sense in the real world. It's also sometimes
fun when trying to figure out a math problem you know how to solve because it can sometimes feel like a mini puzzle. My favorite memory from Riverfront would definitely be the seventh grade field day. It was one of my favorite memories from Riverfront since it was an absolute blast and I can still remember when my class was the color yellow. And I enjoyed that day to the fullest and had so much fun from the field day since we flew water balloons, played volleyball, played kickball, and a bunch of other really fun activities. My plans for high school is to definitely attend BCIT high school and hopefully take engineering and cyber security classes so I could get an idea of what job I would like to do when I'm older. An important goal for me would
be to become valid Victorian. When I grow up, I would like to become an electrical engineer where I would be assigned to develop and design electrical systems and equipments which would be a dream of me to also invent an item that people would actually use and hopefully be known for it. Advice for younger students I would give is to really make sure you try your younger years to build discipline and a really strong academic foundation for your future. What I mean by this is study hard when you're still grown and when you're older, you will realize how much it really benefited and did for you. For example, I took tuition classes which I hated in elementary, but they still putting me a bit ahead of my studies, which later on allowed me to have overall
better academics. One really exciting thing I'm looking forward to this year would definitely be the eighth grade field trip and field day. Mainly I'm really excited for the trip as is the best one there is going to be since we're going to go to a water park called Dory Park and from what I heard and seen I'm stoked for this trip and I will definitely have fun attending. And this is the end of my slideshow. A really special announcement I would like to make is to appreciate Miss Kennedy for recommending me for student of the month because without her I would not have been able to earn this award. Go Flashes and have a great day. Bye. [applause] So, some great things about Pu Pendra that Miss Kennedy shared with me and that I've seen
is he gets A's in all his classes. He's outstanding and a dedicated student. He volunteers his time for the National Junior Honor Society and all projects. He was instrumental in creating a schoolwide Jeopardy game for all seventh and eighth graders and helped organize the Children's Hospital Pajama Day fundraiser. [clears throat] He also is active in his church community and helps out around the building by cleaning and other activities he is asked to do. His religion is very important to him and he spends time reflecting on how he thanks people for their contributions. In his free time, he enjoys biking, playing chess, and taking pictures. He is a shining example of a servant's heart and we are so lucky to have him at high school and we'll miss him at high school. [applause] is for >>
good evening. Tonight I get to introduce two matter classes. So we're going to start with Miss Hall or one of our third grade classes. >> [applause] >> All right. So, I'm going to call up the members from my class that are here. Hopefully, I get everyone see back there. But the first person I'm going to call from my class is Kayen. [applause] >> And next we have Jasmine. BRIANA, [applause] we have Kyle up front [applause] and Joey [applause] Cole. >> [applause] >> AND TYLER [applause] >> LIBERTY. >> And Liberty where you [applause] >> [music] >> If you ever find yourself stuck in [music and singing] the middle of the sea, I'll sell the world to find you. [music] If you ever find yourself lost in [singing] the dark and you [music] can't see, I'll be
the light to guide [singing] you. [music] Find out what we're [singing] made of when [music] we are called to help our friends in need. You can't come [music and singing] home on me. Like 1 2 3 I'll be there. [music and singing] And I know when I need it, I can [music] count on you. [singing] 4 3 2 You'll be there. Cuz [music and singing] that's what friends are supposed to do again. Ooh. [singing] Ooh [music] yeah. [music] If you tossing and you [singing] turning and you just can't fall asleep, [music] I'll sing a song beside you. [music and singing] And if you ever forget how much you really mean to [singing] me, [music] every day I will remind [music] you. Oh, find out what we need [singing] when we are called [music] to help
our friends in need. You can't [music and singing] count on me now. 1 2 3 I'll be there [music] and [applause] All right. And then our last round for the year is Missy's first grade class. [applause] >> All right. First up, we have Andrew. [applause] >> Riley. >> [applause] >> Leila [applause] boooo Jack G. [applause] Morgan [applause] and Andrea. [applause] Raise [music] your voices loud cate [singing] [music] around and around. We can do [music] anything, anything, anything we want to make it. [music] Power. Come on. The one [music] to make the world. Come [music] on. >> [music] [music] >> Nobody going to stop us. Gather around and watch us. >> And we can make the whole [music and singing] world better cuz the future's in our hands and we've been [music] making plans and it's
going to [singing] be the best life ever. [music] We can do anything, anything, anything we want to. It's [music] a party. [applause] >> And we have one more. This is Harman, everybody. [applause] >> All right. Now for our preschool. >> All right. Today we have four future flashes. So our future flash award is gives to students who shine bright by being respectful, responsible, safe, positive, and kind. These students are great friends. They listen well. They help make our classrooms happy and safe places. and they lead the way as Future Flash is showing everyone how to be their best. So, first we have Israel. I don't think he's here today, but Israel is from its best class. Um, I'm just going to read about his teacher. We can read about his teacher. So, he has a
good year. Um, Israel brings positive energy to the classroom each and every day. He is always friendly to his peers and teachers, being the first one to say good morning to everyone. Israel is the cheerleader in the classroom, always excited for his friends accomplishments. He is responsible for his own belongings while the classroom routine and will always give a helping hand cleaning up. We are so proud of how far Israel has come which is why he was chosen as our future flash. Look out kindergarten. Here he comes. [applause] Next we have Jordan's class. >> [applause] >> Jordan is doing a wonderful job in preschool. She has a big heart and always makes sure her friends and teachers are smiling. Jordan is a helper and a leader in the classroom, consistently setting a great example for
others. We are so happy to have her as a part of our class. [applause] Next we have Dominic. Dominic can come on up. He is from his burn bombs class. [applause] So Dominic has made incredible progress throughout the school year. Since the beginning of the year, he has become more confident, comfortable, and engaged with the environment. His personality is shining through his relationships with teachers and friends. He especially loves pretend plays out to interact and collaborate with centers and great play. He demonstrates kindness, curiosity, and excitement while learning alongside others. He enters the classroom with increased confidence and independence and is adapted so well to the structure of the school. His positive attitude, perseverance, and continued growth have made such an impact on community. For all these reasons, I am proud to nominate Dominic for
future [applause] and it's birthday today. >> [applause] >> Okay, next we have Brena from Miss Hobck's class. [applause] has been selected in recognition of the tremendous growth she has demonstrated in all areas of development throughout the school. She consistently shows independence and maintains a positive attitude towards learning. Brena's language skills continue to flourish and she actively participates in classroom activities. We are very proud of Bren's hard work and progress this year. Keep up the excellent work. >> [applause] >> And this evening before we take a short recess, we have one more student recognition. >> One more. We have a motion to second, please, to open committee form. >> All those in favor? I think you're speaking on behalf of my sister >> Candace H. I'm from Hamilton New Jersey that matter >> 87 Avenue New Jersey. I'm speaking on behalf of my sister child is a student at the front school. Uh I'm not going to name him because of confidentiality reasons, but a kid notice was sent to my sister today. She see two notices from two different kids. We are unsure number one what each kid is from. Whether it's from one that was filed on behalf of the student or the student. That's one. And number two, the parents,
my sister is still unaware of what the actual incident is and action has already been taken on the student. So my relative has already had consequences to actions that deemed whether guilty or however it is that you guys determined uh the situation and so there's a couple of issues with the way that the hit has been done. In addition to that, my sister has repeatedly notified of repeated issues and it had only been filed in April when my sister decided to initiate that despite the fact that there are no dozen emails or interactions with staff regarding harassment of my relative student and I have a formal notice that you regarding because [snorts] finally I just want to say that um in accordance with policy and perhaps I'm wrong um the parents should be notified of
the incident prior to there being the letters that she received indicates determination has been made and that they have founded. Again, my sister is still unaware of the incident. He's unaware of which of the two incidents uh is which because she has two differentations provided to her. Um, and there seems to be some sort of disconnect between whether or not that had been something she should have been whether you guys were determined prior to meeting. It appears that that might still unaware of the inciting incident and has been so means that things have kind of gone out of order. I can give you the letter in person. >> Hi, I'm 853. Okay. So, um I am here on the same issue. Um I am the student's mother. I have she said multiple emails. I am
with the letter. I need to know what reference on those letters is mine that I will write to you to determine if you guys are going to go along with him. It will be dismissed per letter, but I have two different letters. This one I do have, like she said, I have multiple emails and I have not been told why my child has a gift except for Mrs. F did say that it was something that was said that could be verbally encountered as something that is targeting somebody, whether it be fat, skinny, ugly, making a kid. That is how it was determined to me that I do not know if my child is so he already suffered his two in school suspensions which he served on 51 and 52 and during those in school suspensions
I'm a little bit weary on how in school suspensions are done. I'm very confused about why my child sat in the testing pool where if there's active shooters he'd be the first one or if you guys do these drills that should not be where in school suspension is I was notified by parents that can't pick up their kids and your school that my child is that we are doing these drills and wouldn't be safe your walls no child should be aware first point of contact for some to come to the school That is a safety concern and I have made my safety concern very very vocal to Mr. Pascal and Mrs. and officer South. Unfortunately, during the hour that my child here, he is supposed to be safe. Whether he feel bullied or into a
suspension that's number one and number two, the incident that occurred originally, my child was down in the dirt at recess and punched multiple times in the back of that. And I was not contacted by Mrs. Hope, Mr. SRO South. You know who called me the nurse because my child was being evaluated. She had heard concussion. I will say I did go to the school and I did speak with them and I was I think honey as a mother would be I their child was injured and wasn't told by the administration. When I showed up I was told that unfortunately I cannot talk to administration because they're misery covering classes. But if my child was the aggressor, somebody would have spoke to me and need to come pick on my child. So I find that unfortunately
with all these rules and ways and code of conduct and everything that you guys have in place at the end of the day, I don't think that it is the children are safe. I don't think my child said that. So going forward that and I will submit a letter and someone can just let me know some shape or form which codes. Thank you. Seeing no further comments for session two. Second, please close the lettering coordinator, Miss right there. I can speak to you after the meeting or can schedule a time to speak with you tomorrow regarding the reference numbers that are listed in the meeting. >> Thank you. Um about 15 20 minutes >> motion second please go to close confidential session for attorney client privilege on a student matter in favor We expect to
be about 20 minutes.
