Even though we are finally in the home stretch of 2025, students have found many ways to keep busy in the past few cold weeks. The NHS went on their annual trip to Beverly National Cemetery for Reefs Across America this past Saturday. The parent organization put on a great breakfast with Santa and the Grinch with some of our Interact Club members and musical talents
volunteering. The marching band performed at the town institute's annual tree lighting. And today, student council hosted their monthly mocha Monday. Primer supports became available on Genesis and basketball and wrestling are having their first official games and matches. Be sure to check the activity and go out and This week, the student council is hosting a winter spirit week and future teachers club will be going on their next visit this Thursday the 18th. The winter concert will be taking place on Tuesday in the FHS auditorium. And additionally, the cafe club will be visiting the Trenton area soup kitchen and the theater classes will be seeing a show on Wednesday. Finally, just as a reminder, the NHS tutoring center is open every Tuesday and Wednesday for students until the late bus. Thank you and happy holidays. Thank you
all. >> Okay, let's begin with our recognition of our students of the month. We're going to change things up a bit and we are actually starting with Robing Matter Banner. >> Good evening. It is my honor to bring up our second kindergarten class in the three months that we've been doing this uh for this school year. So, we are very proud of Machowski and Mrs. Fox's kindergarten students for always striving for five. They always follow the rules. They do what's right and they are a great class to go in and visit during the day. They love teaching all the new things that they're doing. So, if I can have Mrs. Machowski and Miss Fox come up and present the certificates, then we'll watch a short little video. >> All right. Can I have Vivian, please?
Obby and Dan Mlayas. Noah, Michaela, Shanty. Olivia, Olivia, and Charlotte. I >> think we have everybody. Great job, guys. [applause] We are the banner class. >> Sponsor, >> come We love you. >> Oh. We like kindergarten. congratulations [applause] to our matter matter class. And next we will go to the riverfront school for our student of the month. So our student of the month is Patty Long. Come on up. We'll watch your video and I'll say some really great words about Hi, my name is Long Street and I'm the student of the Some of my hobbies outside of school are playing clarinet and I love to make music. I'm in the marching band, concert band, and choir. And other activities I participate in are student council and I'm his student junior option. My favorite subjects are
math and social studies. I like math because it always came easy to me. And I also love social studies because I really like learning about mythology. I love the dances that we had at River Friend. And I really enjoy doing marching band activities like band camp competitions and performance. Some of the goals I have for high school are taking AP classes, especially AP music theory. I want to continue growing in music by learning more instruments. And when I'm a junior or senior, I want to be a drum major for the March. When I grow up, I want to be a high school music teacher. And I have been so lucky to have had many inspiring music teachers. They not only shared their love of music with me, but created a safe and welcoming environment that
teaches me to laugh my mistakes and persevere through the challenges of becoming a great musician. I want to create this same space and help my future fall in love with music like I am. If I was told to give advice to younger students, it would be to stay as long as possible and not to worry about trends and don't grow. I'm looking forward to the eighth grade social because me and my friends have always loved going to Kansas City. We deserve so much. >> Thank you for giving me this tremendous [applause] >> run away. But Kylie moved here from Florida when she was in sixth grade and has become a valuable part of the Riverfall community since the moment she got here. She's involved in band, choir, the pit orchestra, marching band, student council, NJHS.
She takes advanced math and advanced BLA classes. She's a wonderful, happy student, well-rounded, and very well involved. And we are happy to have that with us. [applause] >> Mr. Kogan for the high school. >> Good job, Mr. All right. So, this is two years in the making. Two years in the making, right? >> Three years. Three years in the making. This is Molly Whitam. She's our student of the month. [applause] >> So, we get we get to pick one student. Molly is our student. We're going to embarrass her in two ways. First is through a video and then after that we're going to talk a little bit more about Molly and how awesome she is. Okay, so part one video. >> My name is Molly Wickamp and I am the student of the month for
November 2025. One of my favorite things about our school is our community and sense of pride we have within it. Some of my favorite subjects are language arts and history because I feel that they are so intertwined and I really love reading in my free time. Some of my other outside hobbies are going to the beach, especially for Sunrise, Phillies games, volunteering, and going to country concerts with my friends and family. After high school, I plan to get my four-year degree in pre-law or political science, attend law school, and begin to travel the globe. Thank you. Here [applause] we go. Step step two. Phase two. Molly is a model student. She's hardworking, intelligent, and kind. Molly has amazing school spirit. I'd like to say more, but I really probably shouldn't. In addition, she always volunteers
her time to help others. She is a leader inside and outside of the classroom. outside of the classroom. Molly is there's a lot here. Molly is the student body representative to the board of ed. She's with us every month for the last three years, not two, three years. I don't know where the timeline, an executive board member of the student council, a varsity cheerleader, a varsity softball player, a parliamentarian for our school's chapter of the National Honor Society, and a valuable member of the Interact Club, the Molly UN, and the future teachers club. In the classroom, Molly has taken extremely competitive classes throughout her time in our high school, and she's done exceptionally well. Congratulations, Molly, on being our student of the month for November. We are very proud of you. [applause] >> And our
last recognition is our future flashes. So, our future flash award, we actually have three flashes this month, the future flashes. But our future flash award is given to students who shine bright [clears throat] by being respectful, responsible, safe, positive. These students are great friends. They listen well, take care of their things, and always help make our classrooms happy and safe places. They are the future classes for our school community, showing every everyone how to be helpers, friends, and just like a flash of light can lead the way and show others how to be their best. So, our first flash from Leitzky's room is Ian. Ian, you can come on up. >> Come on up, IAN. [applause] >> HI, BUDDY. I'm gonna read something about you for everyone here. Okay. All right. We have a big
congratulations for Ian for doing an absolutely fabulous job in school. You demonstrate hard work, a positive attitude, comedic relief, and dedication every single day. You listen, you try your best, and you never give up. And we couldn't be more proud of you. Keep being amazing, keep learning, and keep showing everyone what a future Flash you are. [applause] Oh, that's right. [applause] >> Our next future class from Miss She was not able to make it live. I don't think he's here. >> Canai is a kind student friend. He is always ready to learn and is a great helper to others. Kai is hardworking and always participates in classroom activities. He is a great role model to others and we love having him in our class. So congratulations to [applause] room is Dell is here wasn't able
to make it. He is the perfect candidate for our future class. He is wellliked by his classmates and peers throughout the school. He is always eager to build friendships. Kyle participates enthusiastically in classroom activities and approaches each learning opportunity with excitement. He consistently puts forth his best effort and arrives each day with a positive attitude. We proud to recognize Gir. [applause] >> What? Not everybody's always. [applause] >> All right. So, congratulations to all of our students. Um, at this time [clears throat] to the board president for action to Post executive session close session with the purpose for life student patterns. We expect them to be approximately favor at that time. So >> like a motion to second please come out of close session. Motion >> second. >> Thank you. >> I'd like a motion in
a second, please, to affirm HIV case 29 91 9 motion. Mrs. Bar. >> Yes. >> Mr. Ki. >> Yes. >> Dr. Isington. >> Yes. >> Mr. Miller. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Northley. >> Yes. >> Mrs. Pops. >> Yeah. >> W. >> Yes. >> On to the >> community rel relations for this will be >> uh Yes, just to update the board, uh the community relations committee did not meet. However, Miss Pop shared, uh various board members attended different events throughout the district, including breakfast Santa. Uh most recently on Saturday, the community holiday pickup. Um upcoming winter concerts are this week for Roing and Roing was last week. I apologize. And high school is this week. If anyone wishes to attend, it is tomorrow evening. Uh We will be updating the events for the month of
January and is encouraging the board members to sign up for supporting the various events. Uh strategic plan meeting was held, meeting two was held and the meeting notes are posted on the district website. Uh meeting three is being moved to February 10th. Um that is on the agenda for tonight um to be continued facilitated through leaders and school boards and the alumni association uh did not hold a meeting in December. Their next meeting is January 12th if anyone wishes to attend or >> January 28th. clarification board clarify that administration was not curriculum is also >> curriculum tonight. Um we were looking and was approved by the county office. um data first round students um next round diagnostic data we're working on makingS more improved we're in the process of improving it and educating teachers and
figuring out how to go forward with that professional develment coach coming in the world league. They're having training for the teams also talked about portfolio appeals process for New Jersey graduation and 31 students 37 students are taking the bio literacy testing on February 29th and 30th and try to get parents access to. >> So um just to kind of explain a little bit more so our MTSS process is uh running in all the buildings but we are looking to align our process and to uh work on our data analysis and progress monitoring. So we are doing some additional training >> across the building >> across all um in regards to the Danielson training the admin team had completed their training in the fall just to uh align making sure that we evaluate teachers on a
consistent basis looking for gotos um the Danielson model itself has been updated um our model right now is the 2013 it is updated to the 2022 so to align our practices and to educate teachers on that process. We are looking to do training. It'll be a three-part series, two hours each, and we are inviting our skit members in. The skip members are the school improvement panel teachers at each building. Um, so they can help turn key that information to staff for next year. So that training will is will to take place in um and then for the Atlas access um we did as we rolled out Atlas last year, we did have the contract that portal is available. So we are working to have that access um updated to show um the uh scope and
sequence of the curriculum added to the website. >> Yes. So uh students have multiple means to meet their graduation requirements. Students who have not met their requirements uh to date are then um worked work with teachers who will review and we have It was 12 students identified. Is it true that they're doing this? >> Every year they come for discussion through the department of ed graduation requirement test requirement. Yes, there's a proposal that >> so for the class of 2026 that is not has not been removed. >> Okay. So that's why >> the board will get the progress and benchmarks in January. That's one of the facilities, >> right? Administrator updated the committee on the inspection from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. commission performed an onsite district transportation fleet. This is review of the
quarterly inspection in our buses as well as make sure we're in compiance district. >> Thanks. Finance committee met uh today just prior to this meeting. Um the business administrator shared that um he had a meeting with the auditors last week and that we anticipate uh the results to be coming uh shortly uh certainly by the end of December. Um we will have a committee meeting with the auditor to review the results in January and then uh present to the board to accept those results. Um we are uh very very margin for last year's books. Um so there is the potential of Justin. So we'll hear more about that. Um this is so far this year we're running. So um more on that in January. Um there uh we discussed uh previously uh that business administrator
was looking at whether or not some of the uh contracts were coming up shortly would be going out. bid. Um we are now anticipating um that we will go to a uh live bid for energy suppliers um sometime in February. Uh the gas uh agreement is due in March and the electric agreement is due in May and 27. Uh so looking to do that by the way in February uh and then award the contract either late February or March. Um the other uh potential uh that we're looking at uh still considering whether or not is around the custodial uh group. It does look like we might be able to find a little bit of savings if we do that. Uh so Lewis is looking into doing that again uh probably post the energy bid but
like in the February March time frame. Um, if we do go out to bid and go out of contract to somebody else, there will be 60 notice that the current company transitioned. We've done that in the past. It's not something we're not familiar with. Um, and then uh the uh board uh or the administration did receive the demographic study. Um, and uh project freedom uh at this point um all of the family units are filled and all that are left are single units. So, we don't anticipate any additional enrollment from the initial project freedom, but they have been uh they've announced that they're building an additional 34 units uh which do include multif family. We know that the last time we had that it was very inaccurate. Um so those 34 units will very likely
have an impact on the enrollment of the school. Um so that will be part of the budget consideration as we move into that process. Um and uh the last item that we have discussed previously um is with regard to uh replacement of the band uniforms um for those of you who are not familiar uh the band uniforms are more than 20 years old. Um if you've been part of the band before, you know we've been sewing them and and um adjusting them year over year for the last 15 years. U making them fit in each new uh group as the students are still growing. They start in band and seventh grade. So um you know cutting and pasting of those uniforms. So very glad to see that um the group was able to get three
quotes. um they have uh gone out um or they're going to um accept uh one of those uh quotes. It actually we're going to seek the exception rule uh and not take the lowest bid. The quality of the uniforms for the lowest bid um was just not there. We don't feel that they have the um the quality that would be required to last potentially 20 years if it goes up. So, um they will be uh looking to uh fund the second bid which is $42,000 that is not currently in the budget but uh is working his magic as usual. See where where we can shift some things and that will be coming up. So, um any questions on any of that or anything you want to ask? I'm really glad we're not superad. >> I
appreciate that, Brian. And uh I will say that we had an an outsider comment uh positively recently about our school and the uh wonderful program that we have that we continue to support it and how unusual it is in uh in New Jersey. So um but we appreciate the board's support. financial personel just went through really brief report tonight. Um we are focused and beginning to work on um our ations continuing. Uh we are going to meet as a committee um after our next meeting. So we don't have any um formal report on here. Um but we did exchange proposals, initial proposals with the FTEA um in our last meeting with them. So, we'll be meeting to review those proposals and um consider those proposals and then we'll be meeting again with the FTEA uh
to exchange our thoughts on each other's proposals and begin the actual conversations about the specifics. So, we'll continue to keep everyone posted as we get into the to the nitty-gritty of that, but we're just in very initial stages, but making good progress and we a good amount in front of me, but um we do have several meeting dates on the calendar for our conversations which is really positive um to hopefully help things move along. Um one of the challenges I know from the last session negotiations was just finding dates um you know that kind of pushed the overall time frame out when you couldn't agree to time to get together. Um so we do have a good healthy amount of dates on the calendar. So all things positive so far. >> Okay, we have a
lot actually for policy tonight. Um it's following the agenda to do the second reading for the cell phone policy. I do want to um thank Michelle. She had given us some um feedback on what was already proposed. So, I just want to bring to everyone's attention because I don't think everyone has had a chance to read the revisions that she asked. So, on page two underneath the policy statement, we are changing where it says students may bring an electronic communication device to school providing it is used in a responsible manner. Uh, we're changing it to Oh, we Oh, it's still we took the We're keeping that. I'm sorry. All right, we are going to keep number two because they contradict under the general provisions. Number three, where it says students are discouraged from bringing electronic
communication devices to school, we're striking that whole sentence. So, it's just going to say students who bring a device to school to to do so at their own risk. The district is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged devices. And we are adding more in the section E after school activities and events. The regulation governs the school day unless otherwise authorized by the building principal or designate. Right now it just says the regulations governs the school day. Any questions on that? So we're good to move forward with the second reading when it comes up for policy. >> What about the other I'm concerned that there's one. >> Which one? Because I was looking at all your Yes. We kept that. >> So under the general provision, students are prohibited from using display or accessing electronic
communication devices anywhere on school grounds during the school day unless otherwise noted below. And those notations below are outlined in number five. >> So we just didn't include that. We just added that little piece because before it just said which is not correct any more questions, feedbacks are going to definitely move forward like I said with the second reading finally for the cell phone policy. And I just would like to make a comment about um the hip concerns that have been brought up. Um social media to me is a blessing and a curse. Um it's just unfortunate that I feel like a lot of information has been going out pertaining to some of the concerns of bullying at Burfront and um it's just disheartening to hear some of the stuff that's being said. Um it's
more comments on social media than parents who actually come to the board meetings. um some information that's being put out is not 100% correct. And I just think as a district we need to do a better thing of putting out kind of what the truth is and not just sitting and letting things fester and spewing things that are being put out there just aren't the truth. So I will um as a policy chair we will be looking more into the hip policy and the student conduct. Also, we're going to be reviewing the law, but I just wanted to make note that this is the second request that's being made from um somebody from the board. We did not meet this month, but we'll be meeting in January. We will start to dive into looking at
the policy, seeing if we need to make any changes. But again, the law is the law, and we can't there's not so much you can do pertaining to what the law states, but we can do something about maybe some of the procedures and processes that are happening within the district. So, any questions or concerns concerning that? So hopefully this will be the next big thing that we'll be starting to dive into in regards to the policy committee. >> Thank you. Regarding January, I want to make sure that everybody has on their calendar Monday. first. Moving on. Community forum one. Members of the public are invited to submit comments pertaining only to the board agenda during this public comment portion of the meeting. General comments not necessarily pertaining to the agenda are invited to be submitted

So at the end of community forum there will be a motion to close and then we can respond to any questions at that try to respond to any
question. See no further interesting community form please second. All those in favor. >> So there's a question about the procedure and what was decided upon by the board after executive session. Um the board came out into public session portion of the meeting. There's a motion made to affirm the HIV case and I did state afterwards that what that means is that the appeal to overturn the decision was was denied. So the original HIV findings remains Welcome reports. I would like a motion and a second to the following. MR01 to acknowledge receipt of the emergency report. MR02 to acknowledge receipt of the enrollment report. MR03 to acknowledge receipt of the suspension report. MR04 to acknowledge receipt of the homeown bedside instruction report and MR05 to acknowledge the receipt of the HIV report. >> Are there any
questions? >> I said one question about um just do we have a a sense enrollment creeping up just a little bit. Do we have a sense that's al that's the same that we heard about in finance that's from the results of the >> Yes. So when we do an analysis of enrollment um you know start in August monitoring where students uh there's identify areas in this case project freedom we have seen an increase of our enrollment numbers coming from the development that is what we're monitor which will have an impact in finance and classization. All those in favor. >> Any opposed? Any extensions? >> Second. Moving on to minutes. I'd like a motion in second, please, for the following. M01 to approve the strategic planning minutes of the board of education for November 11th, 2025
and a 02 to approve the work session minutes work session to approve the work session of the following meetings. Board of Education for November 17th, 2025. M03 to approve the regular meeting and close session for the following week of the board of education 24 regular and closed. >> Are there any questions? All those in favor administration. I like a motion second please for the following. A01 to approve the travel and related expense reimbursements. A 02 harassment intimidation and bullying decisions. A 03 to amend the designation of positions for 2025. A4 for facilities use. All those in favor. >> Any oppos? Any thank you. Moving on to business. Motion second, please for the following. B01 for the warrants and payrolls, B 02 for the financial reports, B 03 for contract approval, and B 04 for free
school grant acceptance. >> Any questions? type it up again. I've got a couple of questions on on B 03 just for for clarity. So the app I see that in in B 03 an allin one communications platform that >> yes [snorts] uh so that is district website um uh that will take all of the means in which we communicate including class dojo or newsletters website Twitter Instagram and streamline that all into one platform. Um that's something that we have been exploring that came up with strategic planning um and uh doing a midyear transition to the contract allows us that time to transition. So for roll out in September um it will take us some time to change everything over from that platform as well as training. Um there will still be a moderator for the
district website. Um so the information is not just posted from a classroom teacher or coach onto the website but it would be a means in which that we can streamline everything and anything would be approved. So it runs on a separate feed and it all updates throughout. So any class dojo message that you have received from the class fourth grade who's having a pizza party or perfect attendance, we can drink, right? Um so we can that will be posted in class dojo that also then goes onto the district. >> So there was so there's still going to be class. So a lot of this will be >> shows it all >> and that is what came up and um I guess the other questions I had were from the answer earlier but I wanted to
just put one out there that the adjustment uh for contracts increasing the amending contract increase the limit for what it's not for all the services in that one provider. >> Yes. So um the increases in regards to associates for behavioral uh services uh they provide onetoone services RBT and then uh as well as an overseer for students that providers. So we have uh various providers. This one in particular um associates is used for multiple students for their to the increase of that contractor. What we monitor then again is in the data how the decrease behavior behavior and then um that's something that we monitor throughout the >> total amount of spending still. Thank you. Where are we? >> We did get an increase. So that's an increase. We wanted to confirm the acceptance of the
grant amount. process approved process. >> Okay. >> But just to again just to highlight the board um when we accepted the grant funds or made the application for the grant funds um we knew there could be some increase. There wasn't going to be a decrease. We received I think it was Thursday or Friday I forget last week. Um, but we did receive an increase of an additional $3,000 for participating in the younger school. Not all the districts participated in whoever applied credit so that we can access that [laughter] >> all those in favor >> any opposition we want to pause the motion to second please for the following P 01 for the approval of the second reading of policy 5516 use the electronic communication devices and PO2 to approve the change of strategic planning EDP

favor? >> I basically wanted to thank you guys for taking the time to review. um what was presented to you. Um one express that I was highly disappointed with each and every one of the decision that you made and how you supported this in very future hopefully. You know, obviously I am not the only parent that's concerned about what the school is doing. There are many parents in the community that feel that the school is not protecting our children the way that they should or doing anything about the allegations that are being made for harassment. And it is very unfortunate that my child is if I could change that I would unfortunately. Um but it is very sad to hear of parents that have to take your schools instead of you looking into enrollment. You
should be looking into this enrollment. The reason why parents in this town are taking the out of the schools and I know of and this is sad. This is not a third world country like where the United States of America and every child should be entitled to education and it is very sad that a single mom has to take her son out of school and her feedback is I feel safer with him at home. That is sad and All of you guys are part of that. So I am holding each and everyone responsible for all the children that are at home being homeschooled by parents that don't have the tools, the education to take care of their children at home. single moms that are working trying to bring a plate of food and they also
have to learn about what their kid is doing. I hear stories of parents that have to take their school and the district over them to keep the school the child in in the library for two days and just come to the school to take the test. That's unacceptable. So I encourage you in January to look deeply into this policy and look deeply into the performance. I will be sending over requests which is my federal rights inquiring about how many parents have taken their kids out of school because of the school's incompetence. Thank you very much. Sophia for addressing some issues that have been presented on social media that is a very open platform. There are a lot of things that are on there and I hope that by addressing them you guys can come to
better ways to help support community members in safe schooling. Um you know, we are also looking into things for my son and his schooling um to help support him the best way we can. So, there are more things that I would like to say if anything like privately, I'm open to discussion about that. Some of my feedback on the school, I hope that we really do consider mediation as part of your process.
