Hi, good evening everyone. Today is what Thursday, February 12th. This is the monthly finance meeting. Currently, we have Board President Mrs. DePinho, Dr. Peck, Mr. Zeigler, Mr. Pierro, Dr. Lehman, and Ms. Allen. So, we're going to go through our agenda today, and the first item for discussion is our monthly review of attorney fees. Are there any committee members with questions regarding that? Nope. No? No, I didn't say anything. All right. Um, how about any questions on the bills? I don't have any questions. No, I don't have any questions. Okay. The next item on the agenda is the Municibid sale. Can you give us a little information on that? Yes. So, we had our um, food service director, um, sold some equipment that she no longer needed through this Municibid, which is um, online trading um,
site. Um, so, she sold, I think, four pieces of equipment for $7,200. Ooh. Okay. Yes. Yeah. So, we uh, we just ask that that that be accepted. And where does the money Does that go into a general fund? That would go Yes, that would go into her, um, account, her cafeteria food service fund. So, it goes to the food service. >> Mhm. If I recall, we had a surplus in that fund, so right? Okay. All right. And then, moving on to the next agenda item, GovDeals.com transportation sale. Yes. So, we are looking at putting, um, six vehicles, um, up for sale with GovDeals. Um, four 54-passenger buses and two 25-passenger buses. Um, so, we would just, you know, these are buses that are at their 10-year mark, so we just look for approval to get
those onto, um, GovDeals to sell. Does anyone have any questions or comments on that? Yeah. Does it typically pretty favorable for us, correct? When we sell them. I believe last time we sold buses, we did way better than we expected. Yeah, we did. What Was that last year we did it or what? Yeah, yeah. I remember you were saying we did well. So, then, what happens in terms of replacing them? Do they Do we have to have All right. We replace before we sell, is that Um, well, we will they are, um, Yeah. >> asking for, I think, two or three new buses that, um, for next year, which we would normally just put into our lease purchase. So, it spread out over 5 years. Yeah. That's good. We didn't get any this year. We
didn't buy any new ones this year, so they are kind of due. Okay. So, that would go into the 2026 26, 27 um, lease purchase in that budget. Two to three new buses. Mhm. And it would be the big one, the 54-passenger >> think that's what she's looking for. I have to Okay. That's the budget. They have a replacement process cycle similar to transport, uh, similar to technology. So, they they cycle through, and they know they have they know when they have the buses are hitting their 10-year mark, and then they're ready to step in and replace them. And we also have a few extra buses, so when one breaks down, we sub it out. So, they have a cycle that goes through, um, and we just support them through the budget, uh, so they
can maintain that cycle. Can I ask a question? Yes. See, um, thank you. Excuse me. The buses that we're selling, are they going to districts? Are they going to someplace where they use parts since they're 10 years old? >> Right. So, they, um, go on this GovDeals this website, and whoever wants to bid on them can bid on them. Last time, it was a school district. I remember you saying Um, purchased all of them. I think typically it is, unless, you know, it's such really, really old bus, and they might buy it for parts, but, um, or sometimes a, uh, private transportation company cuz they don't have the same kind, you know, restrictions that we do. So, sometimes they do it, and they just for their own private transportation. >> Oh, thank you. All right,
moving right along. The last item on the agenda is the budget calendar update. I know you've been very busy getting that ready for us for next month's board meeting. Yes, yes. It is so busy time. Um, so, we have been notified that, um, there may be a change in the in the, um, calendar. So, the current statute requires that the governor provides, um, the budget address by the fourth Tuesday Tuesday in February. Um, and past history demonstrates that the legislature typically adopts a law for new governors to extend that date. So, there was, um, an introduction on January 28th as 3219 that would allow 2-week extension for the budget address to March 10th. Um, although and it's not been voted on yet, but we were told that, um, we should anticipate that date. So, school
aid then would be announced within 2 days of the address of that address. So, it'd be March 12th. Um, we don't know yet, you know, if that does pass, we don't know if they're going to change any of the the other budget deadline dates. So, right now, we would basically would we get the um, they'd have the, um, budget address on March 10th, that's a Tuesday. On Thursday, we would get the state aid announced to put into our budget. And then, the following Monday, on the 16th, we have the budget presentation. So, it's going to be a very, very It's already tight, but it's extremely tight to have to work those numbers in, you know, within just a couple of days, um, and then and then get all the budget documents together to present. So,
I'm hoping that they will extend some of the other dates, too. So, we don't have too much It would make sense to extend it all if they're going to 2 weeks because I think That's a lot to put on a a district BA. It it would make sense because, I mean, common sense and maybe being nice would be to extend them all. Yeah. So, that everybody has the right amount of time to get what they need to get in. Yeah. The March 16th date for the budget presentation, is that something that the state No. >> mandates or can we adjust it in the calendar? The only problem with that is right now, the last day to file with the county the budget is the 19th, that Thursday. So, right there, you have That's That gives
us just a couple of days from when we present it to the board to make any changes, get it finalized, and then send it to the county. So, that's why it it would be it would be helpful if they would move all the other dates, too, so that we don't have that tight time frame. Hopefully, they'll put it down and not factor in it, just move them all then. So, do you know when you'll know if they're going to extend that? >> don't know. We just, you know, got the notice, um, on, um, last Monday, I guess it was. Um, about this. So, we'll see. Um, yeah, so they just said that they were to plan to plan on having that 2-week extension. Okay. Anyone have any questions or comments on that? I had I
just want to say I was at, um, Middlesex County's meeting, and then I went to another meeting, and both meetings stated that that it was going to go 2 weeks prior, and, um, most of them were pretty much and saying that it looks like it's more going to be the 2-week extension. But then, nothing further, like down the line will it go, you know, to and then extend that. But they did say that. So. The tough thing is if if a district loses money, state aid, you have to try to find that in your budget, and and budgets are already very tight with all these rising costs. So, we'll see what they come up with. And we will keep everyone updated, the public, as soon as we know. Yeah. So, Charlie, you have a question?
>> I I I just want to compliment the amount of work and time and your time frame doesn't give you a lot of time, and you are really You really do a wonderful job and get you everything done, getting it to us on time. And I I think I'm speaking for everyone here. I say this. Absolutely. We really thank you for everything you're doing. Thank you. I appreciate that. It's most appreciated. And that also goes to the guy to your right. Dr. Wayne, thank you. It's awesome. All right, everyone. So, seeing that there are no more questions, that will conclude our monthly finance meeting.
