uh i just moved uh my in compliance with chapter 231 public world 1975 public maniac adequate notice of the meeting has been provided and specified in the property notice of this open public meeting was provided in the notice on june 22nd 2021 said notice those post-enhancements of the board of educational offices middleton melbourne county clerk center attempted internationally advertising development on june 22nd and posted on the district website we have the black salute police here um before we start our meeting i just would like to um ask the audience to keep one of our past employees mr bolcado in their prayers and in their thoughts he's going for a major operation tomorrow and i'm sure you could use everyone's prayers thank you very much correspondence we have two correspondents we have an email from cheryl
alassa it's in the record in my office and i have a letter from michael cacuzza and also there's a motion for a donation to the senior class for a 20 gift card for each member of the senior class donated by his business the seniors will get that in june upon graduation those are the two correspondence i have thank you very much um i need an approval of the minutes please thank you superintendent's report dr blasey good evening now that i know where i am in the agenda and i can't believe we're already coming up on a new year i will start by wishing everybody much good health happiness and joy um each of you and i hope you're able to enjoy your family and friends while we continue to find ways to live with um
perpetual covignmenting once again this month i am going to start off by addressing reported social media rumors i am begging you begging you please ask me ask a board member anybody on the district team feeding the speculation planting those seeds of discontent that are not based on anything doesn't solve any problems we are happy to provide accurate information we strive to tell you uh information so i'll start with the first one the district has no intent to return to remote instruction now before the holiday break or for the weeks following that until after martin luther king day i received several calls today of people asking if we were gonna announce that at the board meeting tonight and no that is not our intent i know several neighboring districts um south orange west orange some others
have been discussing it our protocols are working and even though we have positives every day across all southern schools and with few exceptions halloween the fashion show tree lighting our numbers in school have been relatively low and we've been able to maintain staffing unlike many many districts locally but also nationwide staffing has actually become a bigger issue for school districts than coped in many places staff are testing positive they need to be out where their children are testing positive they need to be home with their children and with no virtual instruction option that's really what districts are having to consider so on top of that while we've had much higher than normal level of absences at washington and radcliffe school today attributed to exposure from outside of the school we are managing really really well
the rumors of whole classes testing positive of 150 students at the high school testing positive that's all untrue and as i've done for the last three board meetings i will report the numbers since the last board meeting november 29th nutley high school has had 19 students and two staff members who have been confirmed as positive eight students and one staff member at the middle school have been confirmed since that november meeting we've had 11 students that were positive and five staff members at lincoln three staff members and six students at spring garden seven positives and no staff members at radcliffe school and six students and two staff members at again across poland seven positive students and no positive staff at washington school even though again i received several phone calls today asking me about whole
classes being shut down and being returned to virtual instruction in almost all of these cases staff and students are spread across classes so when you have that i tell you at the high school 19 students out of the 1200 student population it's not overwhelming it also i have to say beyond being spread across classes people are finally getting the message stay home when you're not feeling well maintain that social distance maintain your good masculine sanitary hygiene it's letting us not only mitigate the risk but it's letting us continue in person operations and plan for the very best structure of educational services that we can and at the same time we're keeping everybody safe minimizing risk to our staff and students that includes athletics choir instrumental ensembles clubs extracurricular activities i think all of us could
not be more proud that we've been able to continue to follow the protocols and still do all of those things safely it's been really really busy director of curriculum jamilo consola is joining us up here tonight and she's going to report on some of those things when it's her turn on the agenda for mr bateman i will tell you that we'll be using the screening tool again following winter break to monitor travel and quarantines we're going to continue testing unvaccinated staff as is the mandate and any student that would like to test on a voluntary basis we'll be doing that ongoing in the new year and i would say if you are traveling please stay safe and healthy another topic that has come up yes the deadline for submitting re-registration materials was december 6. the
registrar team is reviewing all the documentation contacting those families with missing or incomplete submissions this is a process that's governed by the new jersey administrative code it's aligned with our district policy but we do ask you to please work with the registrars when they call you to ask questions when they tell you that there's something missing we don't want to be the ones to present your child for hearing before the board to disenroll your student just because everything didn't get turned in please answer the calls return the call or email disappointment is not an empty threat and if there's not proof of your residency your child will be removed if you have any questions again not social media call the registrar's office directly they are more than happy to help you through any questions or
re-registration materials that you have and just finally a reminder thursday is a single session for all of our staff and students i know that we are all looking forward to the break and again please enjoy some respite find some joy relax rejuvenate amongst your family and friends and i'm wishing everybody uh very happy and my goodness truly healthy thank you dr blazer and along with that um i was able to along with some other board members and many many citizens attend the holiday concerts at our school as saint mary's and then recently the monthly play plan with the with the parks department that was going on fantastic if you haven't if you really want to see the wonderful side of our great children and you know get a chance to attend and really enjoy it
i just wanted to pass that on this is looking solo thank you good evening i'd like to highlight some exciting things going on across the district this past month the robotics team had their first competition over the weekend they won three out of the five matches which were held at keene university the team is looking forward to having some time to revisit their coding and prepare for future competitions and the qualifiers so far we've had two nutley parent academy sessions these sessions began this fall as a way to provide information on district programming and really are an informal way for parents to engage with our administrative team if you haven't attended either so far we really encourage all parents to attend our first parent academy in november was on standards-based report cards and our second
one was on our harassment intimidation employee policies and procedures we'd like to thank our presenters miss marvin miss benavidez and mr capello for their leadership on these sessions they were all well attended and recordings can be found on the district website we're in the process of planning additional parent nights in the new year for example in january we plan to present on the district's social and emotional learning program again we encourage all parents to join us the middle school student council collected snacks throughout the week for their we got this food drive out of new york the food drive was structured as a competition among our six middle school teams the kingsland team won first place with one thousand one hundred and eight collected crackers and pretzels and the overall total of snacks collected was
three thousand two hundred and thirty-two the school then made approximately 500 snack bags for those leads we're so proud of our students efforts similarly the high school key club and student council held a holiday gift toy drive throughout december to benefit students at northbet israel hospitals hundreds of cards gift cards were collected to make the holidays brighter for the hospital's sick children thank you to all the high school students who participated who made us very proud in athletics 19 student athletes received all league honors for the fall season and the winter season has started start strong new jersey department of ed state assessment scores have been received by the district they will be mailed home by the end of this week and mr mania and i will also be sending an email to all parents
explaining the scores in more detail and we'll be presenting them publicly at an upcoming meeting we wish all of our school community a wonderful winter break and we look forward to good things ahead for our schools in 2022 thanks thank you mr pieces thank you mr kazantsky once again i would like to thank the board with all of their hard work for the past month in their committees um under the direction of uh mike tim koster and steve farise i'd like to thank the custodial and maintenance and ground staff for their outstanding work once again for the month of uh december thank you to the central office staff for processing all their work in a timely manner special thanks to um maintenance worker nick polinski i know i know these people get paid hourly but
through his initiative he's saving us once again tremendous amount of money installing floors internally with the use of his own skill and a helper as opposed to going outside and using the subcontractor so just another another another way for us to reallocate funds the other thing is i would also like to thank everyone throughout the district for their for their work we put a lot of effort in on a daily basis and it does show happy holidays and help and happy new year to all thank you so much thank you mr visa do you want to report on that behalf of mr rooney is that okay yes thank you very much now we're going to have a presentation from mr john cynical on the murals that you have a resolution you're packing tonight and mr
simcoe is going to bring us a little background on the murals and i think right john so i guess we need to take a seat down the front so that we can see the tv presentation [Music] foreign [Music] the lovely historic preservation committee i'm also the director of the noble museum and i'm on board of the historical society and the work that i'm going to show you or the story of the murals really comes through the historical society so i just wanted to let you know about two of those hats so the murals here are really incredible they're charming pieces of local history i think they really do exhibit the wonderful sense of community spirit that's been in an artistic sense forever and i just want to run through the context that the world that
you see not only in the hallways but on either side of them here in the auditorium where they come from and maybe some of the other things that they did inspired so nothing's got a very unique history of muralists living here and painting outside of not only in fact all over the world new york city was one of their biggest clients and then another group of great murals that are in town public for us to go to the city that don't happen to be by not the artist and then a combination of both of those so i just want to run through one of the earlier is a gentleman named frank fowler who built the first studio on enclosure back in the 1880s as he's living here one of his clients is the waldorf astoria
hotel in new york city this is no longer there only because the empire state children sits on that site right now but he uh was painting murals on the ceilings in the nets that you see along the walls there and doing studies of these on the studio uh would still exist at 16 and and the studio are still there so they can get murals in and out of it some more examples of the work that he did in new york city he also decorated the true fresco work the luxembourg palace in europe so these people are world-class artists and muralists of food that are living in nothing this is the mckeldin hotel which is in herald square in new york and it had these incredible worlds made of tile by another enclosure resident named frederick
dana marsh internationally famous um painter and merlin mixed murals that are translated into tile work and in fact when this building was knocked [Music] in new york city and they actually saved them and they're now preserved in some of the new york city subway stations you can still see them so again another great internationally known artist muralist from nothing now this dates to about 1917 the earlier ones to the 1890s his son reginald mark who grew up on enclosure gets one of the coveted um commissions at the time this is in 1937 in one of the great buildings in new york city this great bozart building down at the foot of broadway was the custom house was built in 1917 fast forward to 1937 they're looking to decorate it with some government funds and they
hire reginald uh you see all of the murals up along the sides there one thing to know about murals is that they have to down to the architecture if you've got odd shapes you've got to go with the art shapes you see the shipping he also does the history of shipping after all this is a custom house and these are still there for people to go see today this is now by the way part of the smithsonian museum and it's the uh the native american wing of their museum it's free it's open i think 364 days a year and you can see some great um homeboy art here and one of the great muralists in town who wound up living in the same house as the martians did when they sold it and became the
premier uh wpa muralist for new jersey is michael and if you go today to the city wall in newark you can see these incredible these things have gotta be 12 feet high eight feet wide there are eight of them about the history of newark and again public art for all the city they're absolutely beautiful michael taught um in miller he uh designed a large barrel that was in the 1934 new jersey exhibit that building at the world's fair so again public art by one of the real internationally known artists from michael lenson and then if we come home now to dougly this is our library some of you might not notice it has been expanded a whole bunch of times i chose this iteration of it because along the back the piece you see the
wings sticking out this is important that goes back to 1914. uh they got a wpa grant in the 1930s they gathered up along the back and inside there they hired uh an out of town was his name [Music] and this is [Music] we go to the post office uh probably the most famous public girl in town that has to 1941 uh by the way the town voted on this it was almost the scene of delta nothing [Music] wta when i mentioned michael manson he's an ugly artist for some reason he gets the commission to do one of these rules in a post office in virginia he does the theme of uh of coal mining uh there but here they gotta have town guide and full chaplain to come in and to do this going to
the post office the details are fantastic and here you see up in the upper left hand corner uh some local buildings that are lovely buildings which is this building back here uh town hall before it had a fire and a new uh third floor this was the roof of town hall so some uh you are still in that um bureau and even if you're going to our municipal building uh in the courthouse you see that arch in the back there uh that 20 30 years later was painted with this in our mirror so walk over town there are these beautiful murals to see uh you go out of town and there are beautiful worlds by lovely europe so it's a very unique relationship that our town has got with the art form of worlds these
are just some details from town hall the last one before we get to the school that i want to show you is is grace church on high field land this is great great church before it had its beautiful tower built you can see that tower here uh if you've been in that search you know that it has got world-class murals in it so these are large murals that take over the entire ceiling there are four of these you only see three here on either side they're huge they're all biblical stories but they're very much related to nutmeg into the town and only and they're very expensive just to give you some idea the quality of these elite murals the details are just incredible and by the way these were all painted with public funds they
were painted between 1910 and 1919. took clinton daughter nine years to think these fast forward six years later december 30th and coming up on the anniversary the entire roof of grace church burns all of the murals that were painted were destroyed the town gets private funding again and between 1926 and 1929 clinton repaints all of these murals on a brand new ceiling so the pieces that you see here this is a wonderful story of joseph being told that his son died and we see joseph's morning here and then it turns out that the hay family some of you might know um james head in nothing he's got one of those big houses up above the buckle it's really a great old 1812 um nothing groundstone well it turns out that one of his sons phillip
kingsley died at the ripe old age of 20 years old to 1888-90 there turns out that he dies in a canoeing accident and he's a senior at um university the story means the front page of the new york times and a very pointing story about students coming up to the hay house which is right [Music] and anytime i scratch the surface of any of these there's a great uh human interest in these uh as well this by the way is this great photograph of that [Music] and this is a picture of i think a lot of you know that this building when it opened in 1927 it was done in high school so it's lovely high school students you see them here who painted the murals the giants and girls that are out in the
fall there were six niches out there these students between 1934 and 36 decorated design painted on canvas and then had glued to the wall by the same by the way if you will who came into town to help out at grace church which was just a couple of years uh earlier in this maybe ten years earlier came and glued these uh these girls onto the walls here as well so here you see the maquette just simply design what one of the girls is going to be i'll call your attention to the woman who's standing on the upper left which is vivian noyes she's one of the artists that i'm going to tell you a quick story about her in a few minutes so when i first saw these murals this was the shape that they
were in um not horrible you can see a little crack uh beginning to over the years when i looked at these this is what began to happen by the time we will realize that something needed to be um uh some action needed to be taken this piece had literally fallen off and the principal had saved it and put it in her office the great story too about these murals is just like the clinton bomber race church murals the community stepped up a number of private donors in fact bedford who passed away from three years ago now or 101 was a student at this school when these murals were being painted in the 1930s and it's thrilled to be able to fund the restoration of one of them silos like sears so you know silas and
his beautiful partners stepped up right away realizing that this one was not going to last much longer and gave you the funding to get these done the community really turned out a couple of graduating classes uh paid for two late of them uh for two of these was really happy to do one of them from uh vinnie himself and his wife and the other was funded by chakras so it's a great community story as well to the preservation of these uh heroes just very quickly there is a slur who needed to take down half of this mural which was the worst one uh take it to the studio put it back together bring it back here and take away all of the cracks that uh it seems of and this is it at the end
of the at the end of the day what's really lovely is that each of the students signed and dated it so this one is by william trump who by the way had to leave he did this as a junior he had to leave as a senior to go work in his father's store and i don't know that he never wound up graduating uh from the school so he in fact had to leave this is one of the more sophisticated ones it's called today you can almost tell that it's 1933 3435 with the um the chrysler building sort of in the back there so this student split this up into three different pie shapes this is it clean so this one didn't need much much restoration work but all of the wax and all the old
oils that were on it would take it off it was clean so wonderful details there you can see the restoration process here dirty some of the wonderful details of this work and it turns out that carrie mcdougall when he uh he's nullified those that joins the navy is a decorated sailor uh during um uh world war ii and then goes to name and works in a ship ward for the rest of his life and this whole side of his mural was about the shipping industry so he was really rooted uh [Music] and here it is cleaned up and ruth garrett 1935 signed this one this one is called summer and you can see the stains and the dirt on it people when they painted that over [Music] preserving the landmark so that that does not
happen here you can see dirty there is the artist and the one that's the most dramatic is up on the third [Music] these are some of the tests that the restorer had to do to kind of see what's going on underneath all of the dirt you can see half of it now cleaned and how amazing the difference is some of the details that are standing out by a wonderful octopus a little bit more and finally it just really revealed itself even this wonderful diver who you could even see his face in here which he couldn't make out at all and just these great little details this was signed by vivian so when i get some research turned on turns out to get married to a mrs michaels disney ficus and some of you they know
her she was an art teacher for the rest of her life in uh so that's her on the left this is her in the 1950s 20 years or so later with students and she's the one who designed the nutty uh town flag so i just wanted to show you what she was on to do hearts in town there is another flag and then so 33 34 35 are out in the halls in 1936 the following year uh and it's the next year 1937 by that regional large winds up entering uh those those uh the ones so all of this stuff is going on at the same time so each shakespearean plays very appropriate for a theater by 1936 uh june driscoll another nothing uh artist painted them uh as well these could use a great
cleaning and i'm hoping that um some of i had my art historically take a look at them they're in nice shape but they are large and and uh they could be used for me they would stand up well to it now if i'm hoping that one of the things i'm working these things would do would be full of attention uh to them so that fundraising for something like that might be a little bit easier to do so i just want to show you the details of this i've been told by generations of students how uh they would think about this in their bed at night something very frightening but i think they would they become less dark certainly uh if they were obtained and of course and then i just want to go back to
the hallways i mentioned that there was six inches five um we're filled uh the other thing that i did when i was looking at these was got uh students together to fill the empty knicks so you've got six niches for some reason the students are very 34356 only did five of them uh i couldn't bear to let that last one stay right there so we haven't having a contest uh student life competition since this is now a middle school we have middle and high school students gave them the idea of not leaving amateur circus as their subject uh this is a great challengeable event that uh actually had daniel's week starting in it's back in 1894 they sat through a couple of powerpoint things about surfaces about old-time nothing and 17 students um participated by
uh making half-sized attacks three-feet longs and six feet what did you see outside and it was just again wonderful we had the board historical society um uh one of the most prominent artists to ever live in number gary irve who was on a closure took everybody through the competition process and again it was just a wonderful community process to get together to finally um complete a student uh euro cycle that began 80-plus years and years ago it was really a wonderful day to accomplish so just some of the great things that the students did you can see the white variety this is heavy butter and addie oakley taken photographs at the event in 1894 in nutley and this is the tuned up on that poster with some of the wonderful details that the students did
and then it was time to choose a winner and you can see the maquette down at the bottom the half size and then the full size piece at top so this was another high school student again um david who won that competition then worked with gary irving uh he just sort of looked over his work gave him some suggestions and he turned that into this so this becomes this we are developed on this stage about two or three years ago um some great details of that here it is making its journey now to the uh to the hallway this is on the third floor there are two pitches on each floor for a total of six inches this is down and small up there so again what we've now done uh in 2019 i think
this will end was finally completed a student generated euro cycle that was our team um 34. the last set of neurals i want to show you there are two euros is in lincoln elementary school and i think they're incredible they're really charming um in their own way but the fact that these are done by middle school students fully where the ones hearing done by high school students is almost unbelievable so here they are on either side you see charles freeman and anthony david i think it's 1940 signed both of these murals and what i think they do is they show um and the words our friendships grew and then here you need your portal spare so you see 1940 on the bottom right so i think these are two girls and [Music] so this wonderful
little set of details you see on the bottom right that brings in the 1930s uh closed app that the woman is wearing so i think what these kids have done is taking words from the school soul here our friendship through and i think they picked these two girls and are projecting them growing up in the future here so if you see this girl i think she becomes this woman this girl is in the same he goes on to deal with um imaging technologies but he also stays sort of in the arts at the radical career so i think they're incredibly uh charming uh i guess that i think all of these deserve to get the attention that they would and the protection the building we're not asking for the building to be put off of
the list but simply that all of these murals get a measure of protection um so that they're not going to know if they're not destroying uh in any way and that people can really come and view them and maybe we can use it as a fundraising tool to get other ones cleaned up um with that by the way i just took another picture of the oval this is right here there's a beautiful full moon coming up over at so that's what i've got for the murals again to the board i'm here to ask for your support you are the owner of them and so the process would be that we've got the paperwork that i have sent to everyone the application so that you can get an idea of what that is like it still
needs to be discriminated or there but to get that signed off and then we will prepare a package to put before um [Applause] oh [Music] hi john thank you thank you very much okay [Music] thank you very much uh and i appreciate the work that you do to continue to keep the newer [Music] um i appreciate the having gone to lincoln school and my father before me and graduated from this is my high school in 1959 it's nice to see a little update on how those murals got there mr riley anyone else thank you and thanks for all your work on the application okay so yes one second we're really lucky to have a student member of the board from natalie high school adam let me get a little introduce yourself because i think this
is the first time you're actually covering it so welcome thank you all right so i'm not a knowledge student council president so i'd like to speak about some of our activities here at public high school so so far this month we did a spirit week where we had everyone enjoy the holiday season and show their holiday spirit we had students from the core club come on the announcements and introduce themselves and say a motivating message each day um about our fundraising each of the classes besides the freshmen have been fundraising mainly using make sales sophomores have been selling hot chocolate gingerbread and holiday goods juniors have sold candy grams seniors have sold values cookies cupcakes banana bread and candy games about our winter sports we have started our winter sports and this first weekend the
games are started uh some of our future plans for student council is planning more community service events since the day service was very successful or playing more spiritual spirit beats as of now we are currently doing our best with each grade level in order to recover from the fundraising time lost during the 2019 virtual learning period as well as to have an easy transition with a great start to fundraising for the freshman class as seniors we have seen two years of hiring and personal learning it is very exciting to be back in building the student council along with various other clubs have been making amazing strides to get our school back to a new normal through planning these events and fundraising we're working our hardest daily to get our student organizations back on track now
that we're reading in person to socially discipline a great example how the high school community's growing and healing is through the sheer medicines getting involved in clubs many of our students are known for many of our concerns swing the student council in particular has been finding activities for students to get involved in in order to earn something in civil service thank you oh thank you for being here i appreciate it thank you very much okay mr writer can you take the presentation please presentation uh we're recognizing uh two members um this is quirk and this is aaron um this will be their last meeting and i'd like to just read the resolution where's terry quirk certainly he's a member of the board of education for calendar years 2019 through 2021. we the members of nuttley

i learned a lot i really did so i do thank everyone um and me and dave and everybody for all your help it was a ride for sure thank you mr president whereas earth is in our research as a member of the nutley board of education for the calendar years of 2019-2021 we as members of network board of education express our appreciation of our faithful conscientious and industrious achievements and extend to her family our sincere best wishes and appreciation of all she did to serve with other public schools and her many roles as a district community member thank you erica yes thank you mr john i know it's been a difficult year for you besides the board of education and also with your personal issues thank you for your service again [Music] so i'm gonna
try not to be emotional but it's not part of my statute so i apologize if advance um i want to thank all the members of the community who voted for me and those who didn't i hope i met your expectations even though my ideas might not have always been in sync with yours it certainly forced me to look at other views more closely and in some cases informing some effects where it might have changed my position regarding certain issues this whole experience has made me grow both personally and professionally i want to thank my fellow board members who graciously mentor me and in new world there's a great responsibility that i had no idea what it was about and helped me to navigate the unwelcoming politics that unfortunately came along with it that i also
didn't know about uh the politics of this position is something i was aware of i was hoping not to take precedence and i'm thankful that thank you to my friends my co-workers my family have supported me and to my son who brought me here who's the child i do everything for who is my world and when i never asked why i did this the answer will always be despite the various disagreements point of view and struggles of recovery i have found the city of experience i would never regret and i am proud of the contributions i have made during my past three years i struggled with the decision to not return for office but in the end decided that my current parental responsibilities needed to take precedence at this point in my son's life however
that does not mean i will not be continuing to be involved in all these efforts to maintain a safe healthy and educational sound system again i thank you for the honor to have served on this board and i wish my fellow board members the best in navigating the challenging time to know that buying it i would just like to take this opportunity to thank terry and erica for their support and bringing me into the another community as a school business administrator i know it was two of nine i thank the board and the totality but you're leaving so i want to thank you personally for the opportunity for your board thank you thank you well i already had my emotional speech about the two of you last month but i will as i said in

meeting will be determined following the reorganization on the board the members of the policy committee would like to thank trustee eric rosaro and trustee terry cork for their continued commitment to discussing board policies and regulations we wish them well again good report thank you very much we now come to the portion of our meeting where we allow members of the public to address the board in this section we allow questions or comments on reports resolution and all school related matters our board regulation zero one six seven the last 20 minutes for these communications each person should be limited to three minutes we actually can try to stay within this requirement speakers may speak more than once only after all others wishing to speak on a topic that have been heard all statements will be directed
to me as the chairperson no one may address board members individually please be reminded of your statements to lengthy abusive obscene relevant or redundant your participation they've determined please remember to state your name and address each and every time you address the board as of now we have one person that would like to address the board cheryl glasso good evening i would just like to follow up on the letter that i did email uh to dr blazer mr bannon ms greco mr depisa and each member of the board of education regarding the testing requirement for district staff who are not vaccinated although the testing has been switched back to once per week i feel i must stress the discriminatory nature of this requirement for the same reasons as stated in my original email anyone in
the buildings are required to wear masks and social distance if this is working why the testing requirement i have been testing we've been tested weekly since october on my own time and against my own beliefs the testing is done on monday and results are not available until late wednesday or thursday not this past week but the week before i didn't receive results until friday at seven o'clock at night i have already been in the building now four days since my test if the goal is to mitigate the spread of coded everyone should be tested because everyone even those that are vaccinated can spread the disease as we have seen in the media lately it's everywhere and mostly of vaccinated people i'm aware of five steps cases in my school four are vaccinated one was not
i believe there's more than that but a letter requires unvaccinated staff to quantity for 14 days if they are exposed while vaccinated staff can continue to be in the buildings when they are exposed i have had staff members tell me they have children at home sick with clothing and they are in the building not feeling well and they are still allowed to be at work where i would have to be home i did receive a response from mr kuczynski mr mannion ms greco mrs stan check martin and mrs corp all stating that this would be discussed dr blade did respond to a prior email that i have sent to her i'd like to ask now if this has been discussed and if there is any what the outcome of the discussion was i also feel
this issue is of importance to all parents and staff as most hear what is being said on the news if you look at new york they require vaccinations to go pretty much anywhere and broadly shows are shutting down sports teams are shutting down in closing i didn't realize these mandates which are not laws being sent forth by the governor are being implemented to inconvenience those that are not vaccinated to comply excuse me compliance i must express my concerns of the discrimination regarding the school district's implementation of these mandates can someone please explain to me how elite testing unvaccinated is keeping everyone safe thank you for taking the time to bring my [Music] thank you very much and as i did mention to you it's been discussed at numerous community meetings we are following the state
guidelines um as comfortable as you might feel or not feel that that is what we are doing and we're probably going to be sticking to that the only thing i would add to that is when you did write to me i shared with you that i would forward your concerns to the department of health and to the governor's office which i did do on your behalf and i i honestly thank you for being here tonight and you know sharing your concerns and your own voice i think that that's really important and i know it's not always easy to do so thank you anyone else wishing to be heard all right this is one we'll take an academic [Music] yes mr president i would like to move admin resolutions as listed by someone okay discussion yeah
okay number four when it's talking about the murals is yeah so um kind of came up on me a little bit because we received this information uh just as i got here and is when we consider number four is um action being taken where it's just to continue to talk about landmark designation and um we were kind of taken back a little bit we've been corresponding back and forth with the attorney for the last couple of months the last couple of weeks um and just received that when you received it today at the same time because i've had a moment to look it over and i believe this is going to require some serious board discussion so the challenge is that that response is from a conversation at the end of november that was resolved
december 7th where we said that the original understanding of the historic present preservation is not at all as involved is what was originally presented all that we're being asked to do is to protect the murals to make sure that they are not painted over or destroyed or lost there's nothing structural with the buildings there's no other involvement and the board is the owner of the murals is being asked to sign this what we received tonight is weeks after the fact and and then as mr kuznetsov was kind of a surprise to all of us tonight all is is allowing the application to be written basically all we're doing tonight is approving the historical society to prepare the application the board will still have to sign the application and resolve to submit it to the zoning

business to come before the board at this time uh yes mr uh president uh so earlier when we were recognizing uh zara uh in terms of if anybody had any comments or i got a chance to put on my bike we've got the committee reports uh i do have something i'd like to say for miss uh mr question because i wanted to thank erica and terry for their time and commitment over the past three years uh there's a lot that goes into being fortunate and requires a lot of time dedication and patience well terry and eric has served with lisa uh lisa dante martin on the academic and policy committees for the past three years all committee work is important i don't think everyone can appreciate the amount of time that goes into policy i
think it was established in 2017 and since then the amount of policies that have had to be updated reviewed revised before the reimagined or newly considered were extraordinary there's a lot of discussion a lot of wordsmithing and all sorts of considerations for each policy and many uh had not been updated in a long long time this was important work and work that should be noticed in the entire school community is and should be grateful for as a parent from the enterprise school it would be wrong for me not to recognize erica's dedication commitment to our school for two years that she was our rep i was a parent in the crowd or online at mcgill meetings she took the time to listen advocate for us and genuinely be part of our school she came she
came as a mother a neighbor and worked as hard as if it were for the school that her child attended erica thank you for that and know that it was noticed i wish you both the best and all things to come and i'm grateful to have worked with you thank you both thank you very much mr president i just have questions but i did forget while i was speaking the last time i i really do want to congratulate the two candidates that won and i wish you the best of luck you know moving forward and you know it'll be okay he's a little scared in the beginning but you'll be fine and i wish this was the best of luck moving forward as well thank you mr president thank you can we have them call
