All right. Thank you, Dr. Jones. Uh do we have any additions or corrections to the agenda? No, Chairman. All right,
seeing no addition or direction corrections, can I get a motion for approval of the agenda? Motion to approve. Second. Motion and second, all in favor? Aye. Moving on to consent agenda, since everyone has a chance to review, can I get a motion and a second for consent agenda, please? Motion to approve consent agenda. Second. Motion and second, all in favor? Aye. All right, moving on to new business, student services 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic school year calendar. Chairman, we'll have Dr. Race present this information this evening. All right, good evening, Chair Alexander and members of the board. Tonight, we're asking you to consider taking action on the proposed changes to the 25-26 and 26-27 calendar changes. We're asking to waive the second hearing of these changes due to time constraints because we kept having to push
this meeting back due to inclement weather. Um so, we're going to go ahead and start with the proposed change to this year's calendar. So, this is for 25-26 and this is just one change to accommodate the special election that was scheduled for Tuesday, April 21st, 2026, and we'd like to propose moving that from a regular school day to no school for students and a virtual work day for staff. Um just to remind you all that um we do have um Manassas Park High School is a polling precinct. Um so, that's one of the reasons why we proposed the change for that day. Uh the next changes are to the 2026-2027 school year calendar and two changes on here. One moves the Manassas Park High School graduation from Saturday, June 5th to Friday, June 4th. We
made that change this year to have graduation on the Friday, so we'd like to continue that into next year. And because we do the two-year calendars, when we did this one it was still on the Saturday and we'd like to move it. And the second one is just moving the teacher work day from April 19th to April 5th to correspond with the end of the third quarter. Somehow that work day got pushed out a little bit um, and it just makes sense to move it to have it right there at the end of the quarter. We traditionally use those work days for our teachers to do their grades and their report cards and things like that. So, we just wanted to align um, two weeks earlier. It doesn't change the number of days or anything,
just moves it from April 19th to April 5th. Okay. And those are all the changes that we are asking for you all to consider and take action on this evening. All right. Any questions? I have a Just a quick one. Does this Where does this align with Prince William and Manassas City? Just out of curiosity. Yeah, so that's been a topic of discussion recently. So, when looking at um, none of these changes really change a lot of the calendar. So, consistently we have stayed pretty much on par with the county um, and this stays the same. So, our winter break, our spring break, um, all of the other holidays that we've added throughout the year, all of those still align with Prince William County. Um, the 2026-2027 does not align with Manassas City spring break,
but it does align with Prince William County spring break. Okay. Okay. So, Do we need a motion to wave? Okay. So, can I get a motion to wave the second Second reading. >> read Or is it a hearing? Second hearing? Second reading? >> Second reading. Second reading. Okay. Can I get a motion and second to wave the second reading of the student services 2025-2026 calendar as well as the 2026-2027 academic school year calendar. So moved. Second. All right, motion and a second. All right. So now it's in the action. So can I get a motion and a second for approval of the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic school year calendars as presented? So moved. Second. All in favor? Aye. >> Aye. Okay. And while I'm here, I would also like to preview for our upcoming calendars
because we do our our calendars on a two-year cycle. We are now starting to look at the 2027-2028 school year calendar and what we're planning to do is put out two options of that calendar with just some, you know, differences a little bit in where semesters start and end, that kind of thing. And we do want to put that out to the community, all of our school communities. So we're working on a calendar survey that we plan to put out right after spring break and that will go out to our families, our parents, our teachers, anyone who wants to participate in that and they'll be able to just simply say, "How are you connected to the school division and which one of these two options would you prefer?" We'll gather that data and then I
believe at one of our May meetings, I'll bring that data and present that to you and then we'll talk through those two options. Thank you. All righty. Moving on to board member comments. Any Anybody have any comments? All right. Moving on to upcoming meetings. We have a special board meeting Monday, April 6th 6:00 p.m. second floor in board chambers. We have on Tuesday, April 7th, the school board presents the school board presents the budget to the governing body. So hopefully we can all be down there to show our support that evening and we have a regular school board meeting Monday, April 13th at 6:00 p.m. second floor meeting the Is the special Is this special meeting for the public hearing? Yes. It's just to check. The the public hearing for the superintendent's proposed budget, it
also has been postponed multiple times due to weather due to inclement weather and we do have to have this 10-day posting so that's why we can't move into that this evening. So we will wait until 6:00 for the public hearing and then the board's consideration for approval of the superintendent's proposed budget. Well then my only board member comment is that we hope that people from the public come to the public hearing on April 6th to share your opinions on the upcoming budget. All right. Okay. Any more? Okay. If not, can I get a motion and a second to adjourn? Motion to adjourn. Second. All in favor? Aye. Aye. Seven.
