No, this is pizza, get it? No, I like the one around the corner. You want to share your notes? I don't know where this one is. Blame it on me. Oh, that's a Rachel We are live. This is the one. Sorry. No, no, no. Okay. Well, we could get them right after. >> [clears throat] >> Do you have a second? Okay. And then the email goes Okay, thank you. Have a nice night. We have the general fund, school lunch expenditures, the lunch report for March, and the extracurricular reports. You have had time to review that in your packets last week. Did anyone have any questions? Is there anything you

need me to point out to us? Uh no. Just two big expenses for in both funds, and I don't think they're large, and the long-range forecast. I'm sorry, the long-range forecast? Financially. That's the 5-year plan? Yes. Okay. Okay. Anything else? Okay. Visitor comments? Um presentation, we have Stephanie Hutchens and Amanda May for the Apple Club presentation. Okay. I'll just talk about the club. All right. I'm going to read. So, this year we had the opportunity to take 30 students and 15 chaperones to Washington and have an unforgettable experience. Thanks to the hard work and the dedication of our students, our parents, and volunteers, the trip was a tremendous success. Throughout the year we had six fundraisers, including the addition of brand new events to our already successful fundraising efforts. Our vision this year was to

focus on activities that encourage strong student involvement and teamwork. Students participated in a variety of fundraisers, including selling car wash tickets, the Pull Tab Ramble, lollipop sales for Valentine's Day, pie making, the craft fair, and Adopt-a-Class. The Adopt-a-Class is the one we raised the most money. Two of our most successful events were our Thanksgiving pie fundraiser and the annual craft fair. For the Thanksgiving pie fundraiser, students worked together to bake and sell over 250 pies, raising an impressive $3,325 profit. It was wonderful for everyone to come together and to take pride in their work. At the craft fair, which raised $1,887, students organized a bake sale on the ground floor, while also helping the vendors and setting up the flea market. Their hard work and positive attitudes truly stood out. We'd also like to extend

a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and families who supported these fundraiser efforts. Your time, generosity, and encouragement played a huge role in making this trip possible. Altogether, the students raised $8,958, significantly reducing the overall cost for families and helping making the Boston trip accessible for everyone. Most importantly, throughout the trip, our students represented JCSN pride. They demonstrated excellent behavior, teamwork, and maturity, serving as outstanding positive role models for our school community. I did pass around some thank you notes that the kids wrote to us. They were They were really exceptional on the trip. And it was my first year going, so I had really no clue what was going to happen. But they were super respectful everywhere we went. And they had a lot of great experiences there. They really They loved the

duck boats. They enjoyed enjoyed the hotel we stayed at. Had a really nice pool area. So yeah, it was really great. Did you do Plymouth? We did. Did you like Plymouth? It was raining, but they were doing Plymouth, so it was kind of a bummer, but they were cool. >> [laughter] >> They were running today. What was the total that the kids each had to So it depended on how they roomed. I don't remember what the number was. A couple of years ago we started making a change where they split the room with just their parent because the parent chaperone was going the cost was split between the two of them. That was 700 and probably and if they was a four student room the cost was around 450 to 500. But most kids did

not even pay. If they wanted to fundraise we had to we had multiple kids who got back signing money that they had over fundraised. They if they wanted it they could earn it. And did most take advantage of that? Yeah, I think I said I think we probably gave back $40 to probably $50 to probably five or 20 kids. Um and then the rest probably every 10 was you know under $20. But then I mean I mean we had a couple outliers that were way up there but We I don't think we had I don't think we even had a single kid maybe one this year that totally fundraised. Like there was a huge growth in parent involvement and having the kids actually do work. So it sounds like you have some good fundraisers that

are not easy to do. When we got when we started fund raising and I was like oh my gosh. Once they come together then that was great because like a lot of these kids had never peeled an apple. As simple as that sounds. And they had 25 pounds of apples but like when we showed up that money they didn't know how to use a peeler. So we started with the basics of how to use the peeler. So they had to cut an apple and how to keep it clean and hygienic but like how are we going to get through 250 of these? And then they turned out really good. Everybody raving about them and they were >> Excellent job. Thank you. Okay, so items for discussion and or action. We have a motion to accept

the resignation of Claire Ames, our music teacher, effective June 30th, 2026. And I do have the I don't know if it was sent in the packet. I don't remember. But I do have a copy of her letter. I think it was. Usually it is. Motion. Motion by Chris. Second, but also with gratitude for her time here. I'll be brief. She stepped into a difficult situation and really made an impact with these kids. I know there's a lot who will be sad to see her go, but we're we're also happy for her and her pursuit of it. Yeah. Excellent. It's kind of bittersweet, right? Okay, and we have a posted being added. So, I think I saw already. Um All in favor? Aye. Aye. Any opposed? Staying. Carries. Motion to accept the following Medicare Part B

resolution. We have it written out. We had a chance to look at it. That is for Cathy Spring, Heather Flanagan, Mary Alexander, Megan Kearney, Bridget England, Carol Flood, and Patricia Morehouse. Um that is just our business office going back and checking and double-checking and making sure we have things right and and just really buttoning down on things. And we appreciate that. We see with the budget, with this, that you're really kind of checking checking everything over, and we really do appreciate that. Motion. Motion by Sarah. Second. Second by Melissa. No. No, it's me. Is it Kim or Liz? It's my fault. You can. Okay. Okay. Any discussion? All in favor? I. Any opposed? Abstain. Carries. Motion to accept the amendment to the superintendent's employment agreement dated December 15th, 2025. You also have this in your

packet um to review. Motion. Motion by Irwin. Second. Second by Kim. All in favor or discussion? All in favor? I. Any opposed? Abstain. Carries. Motion to approve the principal contract for Alexandria Harris effective July 1st, 2026. Motion. Motion by Melissa. Second. Second by Chris. Any discussion? Welcome. This is um Al, is that what you I've heard Al you like to be called? Okay. Al or Alex? Okay. So, um This is our motion for you guys. Uh let's see. We have discussion. All in favor? I. I. Any opposed? Abstain. Carries. Welcome. Thank you. We look forward to working with you. Um motion to accept the resignation of Gerald Brown, bus driver, effective June 30th, 2026. Motion. Motion by Chris. Second. Second by Irwin. Any discussion? Um Jerry's been here for 4 years with us. Um and

Peter already retired before he joined us. It's probably that I think probably ready for it. Bus driving is not easy job. You know, that takes a lot of Thank you for helping us out and stepping in. All in favor? I. >> I. Any opposed? Abstain? Carries. Um motion to accept the following bond resolution. Again, I'm not going to read this page-long bond resolution. Can you give us a summary? Um this resolution really authorizes Rachel to sign any documents regarding the ban and then the bond when the project's done to get the financing. Right. Any questions? I'll entertain a motion. Yes. I'm going to go ahead and say no thanks today. Okay. Okay. Motion by Sarah. Second. Second by Ken. Any discussion? Are you Is Are there any cosigners? Uh it will be Rachel and if

she's unavailable it's my assistant. Good. Yeah. Just a second on the timeline. My pleasure. Um and we we got to find out >> [clears throat] >> what our interest rate is around June 4th. We should be able to have all the money in our account around January 10th. So this just solidifies and makes sure that we can reach that. >> [clears throat] >> And I heard at the budget presentation that it's going to start in June. In the June? Yes. Yep. So students' last day is the 20 3rd? 3rd. 3rd for elementary. >> 3rd. Staff is 20 5th. So that's They start that Monday. Start that The last day would be the 29th of June. Between the 29th. Sounds right. And the plan to be finished by the fall. We'll be going into the school

year and working on this plan for So, all the teachers have their new assignments. Um right now, we're in the planning stages of boxing things up. How we're going to make sure that we box it up and move into the new room, get the other teacher out that might be in there that might be affected. Uh Paul and his crew have put up um drywall, some paint in the new room right next to the library. So, you know, that one right there is a lot going on behind the scenes. So, it's it's exciting, but very busy. All right, all in favor. I. I. Any opposed? Abstain? Motion Okay, so discussion of substitute teaching assistant rate of pay. I know you gave us some information um in our packet. So, right now, we're having a really

hard time finding substitutes in general, but especially our teaching assistants. Um it is um we have a couple of new substitutes, which is great, who said they'd be willing to sub, but just not at the current rates of pay. Um so, I did attach a comparison of some area schools. Um there were probably two or three schools in there that pay similar similar to what we are, but they are either just finishing the negotiation or are currently changing how much because they are also experiencing very similar issues. Um so, I suggest that we really look at what what it is we can offer to get more there. Our teaching assistants are pulled most days to cover other areas, and therefore it's taking away from, you know, the programs that we have currently. So, it is

something that we really need to look at into and discuss. So, your recommendation that I see is 17 14, which is about a 120 a day. What was it before, if you don't mind me? 16 16 30 Yeah. 15 50 was the board approved rate. We had to bring it to 16 and the change in the minimum wage. The change in the minimum wage in January. This year. We both cut. So, the previous was the last Right. The previous rate or can I look at the first? It was like 112 a day that we Yeah. I think we changed it in July, also. We've been working on increasing it. At the I'm sorry, 17 what? 14 Thank you. So, do we have some thoughts? Um one thought I had was how many hours is the

C going to apply for? Even the rest of the year up to that. Um rest of the year Oh, whichever Can you Can you business officials do the math? What are you saying? I'll I'll start that for About $175 for one teaching assistant. I have a question. That makes sense. If we did it that way. But this would need to go through to next year, also. We need to make sure wouldn't starting to go down. Oh, yeah. I'm in that But we would need to keep the increase. Yes. We need to keep the increase. So, whatever we can't go below what we increase it today. Now, there we are in the middle of negotiations. Right. >> So, the the teaching assistants currently um are We start actually next week. Make sure you let me know

when you spring it off. So, we'll help you. So, yes, it would be very close to what they're making now, but they have benefit A substitute has no benefits. Um and then you got the CSEA teaching assistants, um we will be negotiating their salary for next year. So, this would increase the also the regular teaching assistant pay. Almost like the increase. So, this your regulation of 17 whatever for example, 14 >> [clears throat] >> till the rest of this year. And then we'd have to have a resetting or hopefully settling with CSEA and then we'll look at it again. We'll have to look at it again in July. Yeah. Yeah, correct. Do you think that 17 14 that would generate some more interest? It sounds like the conversations that have been a little bit of

of a casual have said that they would do it for this price. Um but but nothing above this. More than casual conversation to other people. Um I think they stopped at the office meeting so it was to me and them at one point. I was just like, "I can't for that much." So, yeah. That is what we're hearing. Are you sure you want to generate a number like one of the schools closest to us? Mhm. So, if somebody's off Mhm. and they want to solve it if they had 220 days and they're not going to look at anything else compared what they do later. There you go. Uh They're not going to They don't have that. There's like if you look at the Indian money they probably wouldn't stop here. I think it would be

quite much much higher. North Warren might be but like it's right around the same amount as Minerva. And I am not sure what Minerva just settled because they literally are finishing their self rate now. So not exactly sure what their rate is. So right now Minerva their rate is 17. 17. Yeah, I mean Minerva would be lower. Right. And then >> [snorts] >> Indian Lake is 137 a day which is quite a bit lower than that. They're going to be looking at a hike. They are finishing up theirs as well. >> Okay. Yeah, like they're just renegotiating it now too. So it looks like we really Okay, so it looks like we shouldn't do anything lower than 17. 14. 17 at least. Um what has to come to 17 or 14? So we looked at

what a non-certified teaching sub paid last and then we went a little lower than that. Yeah, both. And then your non-certified teacher and then we looked at what area schools are and so that was our thought. Now also thinking into the future we have to sustain this amount, right? So we can't go so high that it's not reasonable for us this year to pay it super high and then in September we go back but no one's going to want to do that. So trying to be comparable. We'll be looking at this again in July though, right? >> Essentially, yes. Because yeah, and a lot of these prices that we're comparing now are in negotiation. So things they might go up. >> go up then as well. But I guess if we don't do something now

the teacher the non-certified teacher. So it seems to me that it would be wise to do 1714 now. See if you if it works and then in July after some negotiations we reconvene and and kind of look at that then. I agree with And we only approve regional for for the remainder of this school year. Yes, that's what we have to do. Okay. for the remainder of this school year. Okay, yeah. Can you give me a bit of you know, next year as well? But we should be mindful of next year, right? Like we don't want to do something that would put us in jeopardy next year. So, just be mindful. Okay. Yeah, I think Um so, would somebody make a motion or is someone comfortable making a motion? I'll make a motion 17 14

substitute All right. I'm seconding the motion for that meeting. for for the two teachers assistant rate of pay um rate of pay for the next year. Okay. That was a motion by Irwin. Seconded, do you have that? Okay. Irwin Morris made a motion to increase the substitute teaching rate of pay to 1714. assistant I I I have that. I just didn't say it. That's why I was like, wait, what did I say? Teaching assistant substitute teaching assistant rate of pay to four to 1714. I had it written, I just skipped it and then what I said. Thank you. And I need a second. Okay, so Sarah seconds it. If we're going to have a discussion, what can I would like to hear what you're I was just asking if it's only going to be for

the teaching assistants or if it's going to be the separate of support staff. Uh I think right now we're going we're dealing with teacher assistants. If there's an if there's a reason to bring the other to I'm just curious to see that currently in the same They are the same. Okay. Some support staff and teaching assistants are in the same pool. Okay. >> Which is that 60, 50, 50, 60 dollars. Okay, let's do I'm comfortable with If you pull if it's the same group of in the same Definitely is not an problem. You see that as an issue? My my assumption is that you were talking about teaching assistant versus aides. Well, it's also our office staff that we don't want to upset as well. But our TA and aides currently are paid different. No,

before They were paid the same as Even before the January 1st June November change in 2026. Teaching assistants, teachers aides, support staff, like all of that was in the support staff pool, which is your cafeteria helper, your custodian, if you had a custodian sub, if you had teaching assistants, they were all paid under that support staff. So separate. There's no breakout for teaching assistant. The assistant would be the top girl, correct? It's not This isn't contractual. This is our July. We have no change. So we have a new likes I guess we're going to There's uncertified teacher and certified teacher. This would just add an extra category. That's just what I wanted to clarify. So we usually just do support staff. Um So to be clear, teachers assistants are category within support staff. They are

like to discuss fair. So, I guess my concern is that we had information on this. We have looked over it. We have studied it. And Kathy's gotten information. So, to me, just leave it teaching assistants for right now. That doesn't mean it has to stay that way, but I would like to see what other people are paying, what kind of have a comparison instead of just doing it on the whim tonight. It's kind of what I'd open up the floor with. Yes. So, bring it to us for the next meeting. >> On July, like when you do it. >> Yes, absolutely. But, I think for right now, because this is what we have been at we've had the information of, I think we stick with this one and then we we convene and look at

another if we need to. Yeah, I agree. July wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. >> That's without without information behind it. I have a hard time making a decision. Okay, so we have um Melissa or no or I could uh Irwin and Sarah. And then we had discussion. All in favor? I. Any opposed? Same. Carries. Okay. Any other comments? You're a visitor for not very long. I guess you're not a visitor anymore, right? >> [clears throat] >> You're welcome to comment. Um okay. And we had no community uh feedback from last um meeting. Update with Florence. I think I'm next. Uh well, we just had a amazing meeting with the past weekend. Took first place in state fair competition. And um Austin Cooper received an award for best jazz soloist. And I heard only good things

about the trip and you all had Sorry for the interruption. It was amazing. I I had chaperoned a lot of rocks and um this is definitely the best one I've ever done as far as how it went out it was just very smooth and I cannot say enough of how great these kids were. We were like together, they were great with other people outside of our organization. They had a great time in the park. Um they were um It was it was it was really nice to see. I hadn't done So and I'd like to um thank the yellow ribbon fire departments who um came out yesterday for a nice little welcome home. Um that was just thrown together within you know a few hours. Without the attorney so worked out nicely. What more than

I thought, you know, yeah I asked for one and then all of a sudden I had five. So that's great. Um I also want to recognize our our our junior player Lauren who is the Adirondack tennis singles championship this season. Um and today um I know the results but um the team went to section so I'll find out how they did as soon as I talk to them. Right? That's all I have at this time. Um well I I was going to give a little bit about the construction and the planning process but he just talked about that already. Um we are excited to welcome Mrs. Harris. She's going to stop by a couple of dates in June when she is not working to come meet the staff and the students. Um so I got

sent a time when she wants to come um to come hang out with her a little bit uh days to um how we operate, um meet the people. Um June is super busy so it's going to probably be a whirlwind. Um that way when she comes in in July she has some idea of what you know what she's getting into. Um so just kind of excited about that and excited for the budget. Next week I'm going to be on the board. So you have to come vote. And we have our three members that are running unopposed. Very excited. Okay, committee reports. We have not met since our meeting at the end of April. Nothing since our last meeting. Next week we start CSA. Yes. Um any other business? I wanted to say thank you for

the um senior spotlights on our Facebook page. I think that is great to highlight our kids and what they're doing and our seniors who were walking out again. So I want to I want to give a hello to Ashley credit for creating those and then sharing them with me. All I'm doing is posting them. If I remember I do it every week. I I enjoy I like seeing I like that little last one of like what's what's something you may not know about them. >> Yeah, I'm going to keep doing that about our students. >> [laughter] >> It's pretty cool. So you'll continue through pretty much through the month of May. Good. I think that's a great way to create community within our high school district and our building. Anybody else? Okay, um we didn't

have any times We don't have a school board student member here. No. They're all at baseball baseball games. Uh couple of six. But bases are loaded and we do not have our drone up. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, this is a busy month. Um our our let's see our budget result meeting will be at um 8 or 8:15. 8:15 They should be quick. We'll because this

is all new, so we don't Usually we wait around for a really long time. I think the machine will spit out Okay. Hopefully. Hopefully. >> [laughter] >> We have no electricity down there, so we're trying to do that. No, done. Okay. >> [laughter] >> May 28th is our elementary concert at 6:00, June 3rd is Honors Night from 6:00 to 8:00, June 4th is our National Honor Society uh 5:00 to 7:00 and our Wall of Fame. All right, goodnight everyone.
