001uh delay thank you for being patient with us our second question ran over a little bit um we'd like to start with the public hearing public hearing at 6 40 pm great and i have to read the following notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held in accordance with general municipal law section 16 on october 12 2021 at the southampton in germany school news group at 6 30 6 37 p.m for the following reasons a discussion of the amended district-wide safety plan to be considered for adoption by the board of education b public input regarding the appropriation referenced above and see board of education comments and any discussion regarding the appropriation reference label at this point we call a franklin um life good evening board of education members faculty colleagues members of

002the community my name is franklin trent and i'm here to present the safety plan for the 2001-2022 school year uh this is a this is a comprehensive plan that has a more detailed plan that we offer up to the state at the beginning of the school year this plan right here is just the standard plan that we have on our website it's also accessible to all of our community members and it has minor information about what we do here at the school as far as excuse me at the district as far as how we deal with emergencies and uh other situations uh regarding uh safety in addition there are very minimal uh changes on this plan most of the updates were basically staff amendments uh new staff members that come into the district and um

003any other significant changes that we make we also uh add them here at the plan at the beginning of the year the kova 19 restrictions or regulations are some of the things that we added to this school year's uh plan as well and basically we just discussed the uh the mandatory mass rule we also discussed the brief for distancing and uh continued procedures with the uh cdc and also the health department we also follow a strong attestation uh fill out for visitors that come into the building and we also make sure that all of our contractors and people that are working in our buildings for more than an hour have at least uh met the requirements of the vaccination and or the negative tests the only other addition that we added was to our escape

004plan and we adopted an area of refuge for a case of emergencies where in any situation if a student didn't have the ability to um to uh evacuate the area he would have the proper or she would have the proper assistance and one of the located areas uh designated at the building so one of the uh requirements that we had to make sure that we did was to make sure that we followed up with the fire department made sure that we had the area of refuge identified from them we have to also communicate that with our staff and training we have to make sure that that signage is available uh for any and everybody to see and communication has to be in that area and we do have all of those things in place and

005that's pretty much it with the changes to the plan like i said once we adopt uh everybody's uh when i say everybody i mean the district principals we're gonna adopt their cert team members into the new plan that goes into the state and uh that'd be a complete summary of the plan so um yes sir so the process goes as follows so i present this to board and we adopt it and we make it available for the public to have any kind of comment period i think that's a 30-day period and what we're going to do is uh those uh those comments get uh flushed to our clerk's office and if there's any concerns then we follow up that way uh what we try to do is get this plan a little uh we want

006to get it moving uh a little bit sooner next year so what we're gonna do is probably start on this maybe even before school starts because that 30-day period is kind of pushing us back past our october 1st deadline and so we want to make sure that we're prepared okay so if after the public comments if there are comments that require us to revise the plan we would just adopt any revisions and then you submit to this thing yes sir correct any questions yes so now the change you added and i know you've done emergency drills especially at the elementary how is that implemented with the area that you have for those so to be honest with you uh the planning and uh the structure of the building already kind of was prepared for it

007uh and what we did was we just rehearsed with it so we had met with the fire department we've also met with some concerned parents as well in the community and just made sure that we kind of adhered to all of their concerns you need and that was pretty much a very uh subtle process once they identified the location it was pretty much uh just following up with the procedure and adding it to the plan right do you have locations of each of the other two buildings yes sir we do thank you you very much for your presentation thank you we appreciate you coming do we have any public comments on mr trump's presentation and i will call the regular meeting to order at 6 47 pm i pledge allegiance to the flag of the

008united states of america to the republic for which one please remain standing for a moment thank you um upon activation of a fire alarm immediate evacuations the closest to emergency exits is required the emergency exits are located in the back of the room and please exit the building across the parking lot to find trees and wait for it all clear from building officials to come back in will clerk deputy clerk please follow the world cup anastasia govales donald j king james f mckenna michael g medium jacqueline robinson here sunday sherwood doesn't care thank you does the deputy court have any additional solutions or changes to the agenda yes item 15.01 has been changed thank you i'm happy to say that dr michael connell sis assistant principal has joined us tonight in place of mr clovis

009welcome welcome you're welcome the next board of education meeting will be held on tuesday october 26 2021 and it will be a warp session meeting to discuss district goals the senior class will be hosting a halloween dance on friday october 29th homecoming week at southampton high school is tonight through friday and i will be with us if i do we'll say goodbye to dr fernandez as well thank you for coming tonight and absolutely it's spirit week in all three buildings very nice and now we will have our presentation by miss martinez narrative at the time since that time there have been several meetings and the plan has really been formalized and it's evolved and now there's martinez and i think dr connor are going to present where we are with this guest plan and then

010in terms of the gcip plan which have been submitted to the state and they've been the state doesn't approve them but they've actually given us oh good evening so i know that the plans were shared with you that these defenders got time to share with you but i quickly let let me just provide you with a summary of the plan because there's a lot written down in the plan i'm sure that you were able to see it ahead of time but um if you have any questions i go through the presentation uh dr paul and i will be in essence providing no to the plans i hope that's okay so again just to recap as dr dino had stated uh in august i did present on both our scout plan and our visa plan and

011again the state excited us as a target school in particular it was our intermediate school because of scores on ela math and science assessments in 2017 and 18 18 and 19 and in essence this cause we they looked at two subgroups they looked at our native american subgroup and our african-american subgroup they're going to export at a level one on the only math in science and then automatically as indicated last time this is a review we end up becoming a target district once we become one to have at least one target school but then just to clarify again both our native american and black sub groups um for the lowest performing on these three exams and so then the state asked us to as we have done in the past i know that uh mrs

012dancy waker had presented in the past last year a plan we looked at that plan and then established a friend and set up a team throughout the summer and so again just the timeline just wanted to provide another overview in regards to our timeline so we started meeting on july 23rd as soon as i was told that i would be responsible for overseeing the second visa plan we met with a team of stakeholders included within that team were teachers parents administrators and there was also a portion of student interviews that took place and then just to give the student perspective and that team was delicate trying to look at an equity self-assessment and really assess where we were at in school to review a student the student interview protocols and we did interview students on

013july 27th both at the library of intermediate school and also on the reservation and then beginning july 30th we really began to dig deep into our data not just the state data but also in-house data and what we noticed with the in-house data was that there were many parallels and the same sort of being told in regards to these two subgroups we reviewed the student interviews but we gathered from there and then we began to draft ideas for the step plan and in essence we ended up we began to write our strength one and then that led to also simultaneously meeting with administrators and another team of stakeholders to then in essence continue to plan for our decent plan and so you'll see that there are the timelines of all these fixes so there's a

014little bit more than a month to come up with both plans and basically on september 20th we submitted to nicest so as dr dyno stated nicest is not approved rather they look to make sure that we check off the boxes so the plan that um is uploaded on um is a plan that was submitted to the state and in essence they ended up getting back to us on october 6th 6th and basically indicated that we can proceed and now bring it up to the board and that's where for tonight um it's on deck 2 to hopefully be approved by the board of education and so mike will actually be presenting on the step plan and then a little bit after i'll be presenting on the booth so thank you so much for watching so i

015just wanted to spend a little bit of time to talk about our process really we wanted to have a nice thorough process to make sure that any plan that we developed had legs and that we were able to use it through the year we really wanted to have a thoughtful plan that addressed the two student subgroups that that were really in question our native american students and our african-american students so the two commitments that we developed and really the commitments being through a process of reflection data analysis stakeholder inquiry and one of the most important parts was student interviews that helped lead us to these commitments we had lots of discussion about that so the two commitments that we've developed to for our plan we're committed to fostering an equitable positive true sense of belonging

016by defending connections among students staff and community and the second commitment that we wanted to make as a building we're committed to developing a supportive and engaging learning environment focused on literacy initiatives to close the gaps in performance so the years begun and we wanted to provide you with some updates for where we're at along with the commitments we had to identify a number of strategies that we're pursuing in order to support those commitments for our first commitment some of the strategies are listed right in the document that you're reading so our parent engagement meetings uh we have developed a series of planned meetings with our shinnecock parents the first one will be held on the reservation at the community center in november for african-american subgroup it's not quite as easy to develop that meeting

017but we are working to schedule those meetings throughout the rest of this year so that we can continue to put parents in to listen and to understand their lived experiences here in our district the team monthly meetings the skep monthly meetings really that's supposed to be the glue that holds this plan together the team needs to review the different strategies that we're looking at to make sure that we're on track with things to identify either additional supports that we need in place or to make adjustments to the plans we go through our parent leadership training in university is anticipated to kick off in january increasing parent to school communication so currently in our building on a weekly basis we have student support personnel that come together and that's that's a team of support personnel in

018the building that includes our community liaisons our channel communication aid our guidance counselors our social worker our school psychologist uh myself are there um mr eliezer is there as our student supervisor and we come together to have meaningful conversations about individual kids in the building and then to also reach out to parents and families from those needed to help provide that direct support facilitating student involvement in extracurricular activities so that really is a critical thing i think for our students to um help improve their own engagement one of the things that we learned from the student interviews was that they struggled engaging in school and the more that we think that they're involved in our program actively outside of the academic area will lead to them also wanting to be well and really active with

019their academics so we have had an activities fair where all the grades we've come in the building that was held last week and also at our open house we made sure to highlight that with parents so that they know how to access clubs sign up for clubs and really become a part of the school in a positive way the bbq kickball game on the reservation uh right now we are in the process of identifying the person to take the lead for that and we'll be moving forward with that as soon as that gets identified um the surveys that we'll be using with the students is that's part of what that team the step team is looking to um put together and as that's developed throughout this year we'll make sure to inform you on the

020results expanding supports for students who are chronically absent so i mentioned the student support personnel meetings that we've conducted really we're working through some tiered interventions for students that hit different levels of absenteeism throughout the academic year so as students have seven absences if they have 14 absences or 21 ounces each of those levels gets a tier where we'll work as a team to help engage with families provide support but also sometimes to let them know that we also have a duty to do uh if we get that those high levels of numbers like 28 absences and what we don't want to do is get into that situation where we're um taking those responsible actions that we're mandated to do without having conversations and help along the way um so for the second commitment the

021strategies uh again so we have our team monthly meetings which are in progress we have we have started that process and that's helping keep this plan alive so that it's working professional development working with the team but but really also working with our teachers we're looking to help them understand our student support process better provide training in things like what the information from our benchmarking process provides for them how to define what response to intervention looks like for struggling students in the building and different supports that can be held in the classroom in the classroom teacher and then also additional supports that can be held outside of the classroom for our building level review of building interventions and that's that's a process that we're underway we are working with the elementary school to um help

022uh make sure that we have a benchmark calendar in place in this building with specific cutoffs so just to take a step back about benchmark information benchmarking is a periodic assessment that happens multiple times throughout the year and it gives us really good information snapshots of information for how a student is progressing through the year so by developing that calendar and to making sure that we have building developed cutoffs for where students should be at specific times it helps us make decisions for which types of supports they might need and then the last piece is a literacy after school program so really right inheritance in this commitment is this idea of improving literacy so through engagement but also through improving literacy that's where we're hoping to close that gap and we're in the process of

023really targeting reading and writing skills for our native american students and for our african american students now i'm going to turn it back over to miss martinez so now i'll present on the decent plan another initial comprehensive improvement plan so this is the district-wide plan um and so i think it's important to note that when we met as administrators whether it was building or central administration we met together for several meetings throughout the summer and uh through the month of september and we really studied the step plan and rather than reinvent the wheel we figured a lot of the things that were implemented were rather added to the scout plan made sense in regards to just overall distributed priorities um that we might have as a district so that's what you'll see some redundancy um

024not redundancy but rather expanding it to it being district-wide as opposed to just building specific uncertainties and so for the step plan it was a minimum of two commitments that we were to choose two to five we decided to choose two for this plan we wanted to drill deep into what we were doing and so for the the decent plan you'll notice that there are three um what they call priorities so district why are they called priorities you see that difference and so the minimum district-wide we had to choose three and what you'll see is that the first one is again that literacy initiative again focusing on this district y to close the gap in performance and then two you'll notice that it's that student attendance piece um and looking at our students who may

025be accident uh that had our chronic absenteeism and making sure that we are providing intervention so this was a little separate and distinct from the step plan and that was the added one and then the other one is a continuation of deepening connections again among students staff and community so we just felt that it was important to make sure that we included the two from the step plan and then the additional one and so the first priority again the focus on literacy initiatives the first strategy as a school is to establish task force develop and revisit district-wide mtss plan so in essence it's really looking at our isp funds just district-wide and making sure that there's some kind of alignment obviously for each of the buildings there will be differences and just making sure that

026we're meeting every so often to make sure there's alignment uh using data to drive instruction as my pet indicated earlier very similar to the intermediate school again looking at benchmarks throughout the year looking at our initial in january there'll be another benchmark and then the end of the year that'll determine how we measure growth because that's another piece for these plans they also indicate as you see in the plan um they indicate how we measure both qualitatively or quantitatively and then um we also added which is ongoing for us but just to make sure that we added it to the document um the ela curriculum writing process that's happening to 12. that's the part of this and then on literacy acquisition awareness training full pre-k classroom teachers making sure that they're embedding literacy practices although

027we teach a content area it's important that they also embed literacy practices because you should all be doing that whereas you should be everywhere and then also redesigning looking really close with our ers classes to provide support and making sure that we do collaborate with outside consultants to be able to get feedback on them to make sure that we're on the right that's page number one and then number two again looking at how to improve attendance rates and again very similar to what dr connell had mentioned earlier so the underwriting the attendance policies practiced in protocols district-wide with school leaders we do have set things in place but it's always good to visit and approve a problem we currently have in place we view attendance data in particular at ist meetings or our student support

028team meetings just to make sure that students are meeting again if the student is not on a seat then that can impact learning so we want to make sure first and foremost that they are in a seat an enhanced outreach grads and students so making sure that we're using phone calls vocal calls emails um using any person now that is able to help out with that our community liaisons are a part of them i should have had community um aide are also part of that and all hands on that sometimes you get including clark or making sure that we're all a part of making sure that kids are in peace and then um a regular attendance reporting and procedures just making sure that that we're all on the same page and that there's alignment to

029that and then priority number three again this is a particular connections piece so utilizing uh existing community outreach positions again because they're going to come into place again our community liaisons are we should have communication aids and everyone who can play a role of social workers guidance counselors right to connect with our community and also establishing an seo team bringing to the building just making sure again that we're committing to the sel approaches for students and then also um the diversity equity including task force making sure that um i know because i think a little later in the video but making sure that as we are beginning to look through the islands that we have a plan for the upcoming school year it's super important to include this within the plan and then to develop

030authentic connections against the school community some of those meetings that mike uh dr karl excuse me mentioned earlier and then um you'll notice that the barbecue pickle game is on here we decided just that that should be initially and so you have i believe a copy of the plan but basically i provided you with a summary of it and the strategies that are embedded dr kyle i did are there any questions i don't have any questions thank you for that um i just have some clarifying questions can you tell me more about the literacy after school program and what that would look like sure so we haven't set up with the um days yet but we're working to make sure that we provide after-school support whether it be two or three days throughout the week

031um for in particular again these two groups our native american students and our african-american students who we would be looking at um the ela assessment because you took those in whose board are one or two and those things would be included within that and then also looking at our benchmarks just including the in need of these supports and basically teachers would be hired to be able to provide this type of support and exclusively focusing on being writing this would only be at the intermediate school so this is part of our step plan yeah oh and the other thing um if i may just mention um as mr mingle mentioned at the last meeting in august there is funding attached to this so outside of this there's also going to be a budget that will be

032established that will be submitted on friday so anything that is connected to weight position obviously this monetary uh really attached to that so we will be submitting a plan of budget to the state as well so again this is not coming from the general budget it is a grant that was provided both for their allocation for the intermediate school and also for our district-wide plan and um priority number one is redesign and plans with support from outside consultants are we utilizing the the knowledge that we have in districts rather than going with outside consultants but certainly um i know that um the principles have been meeting to discuss we've been talking about ais and of course along with teachers and the last clarifying question is priority number three establish sel teams for each of the

033building what would that look like so currently actually uh dr dr botcher has had in the past and sel team um in the building i think that would be a great model to follow um i don't know if you want to share that dr barter but um so we have a um stl committee in the building that meets monthly and we um over the course of the last three years we developed um themes for each month we um the grade levels identified books and prompts that they wanted to use in their morning meeting the first step was like everybody has a boarding meeting for 15 minutes a day where they review the plan of the day they review some social and emotional strategies um they really just get to focus on talking with kids for

03420 minutes um that's unrelated to academic components and then from there the committee developed um like i said um character traits of the month we have books and prompts that go along with that now they use that in their morning needs so a lot of great stuff has come out of it um we also have had like architectural challenges physical fitness challenges anything where the kids can compete and just have fun together um so all those types of ideas came out of it and it's a it's a committee open to everybody um so we have lots of people that sit on that you really just you know start to brainstorm together thank you again thank you for your presentation you have to offer i guess i want to ask you an example of this question

035because and again dr dynasty but you can't win it if you're not in it and one of the issues that i've heard about over the years are some of the african-american troops for the so if the student is suspended and uh sometimes your kids are not in a seat equally attendance so we would definitely be looking at those things it all connects so for sure well thank you very much for your presentation um it's related to where we are when we get the homeland uh the mandate that we have for testing and vaccinations we're at a point right now but we're in week four of the implementation of the mandate we again before is our fourth week of 100 compliance to our employees our employees are doing exactly what they need to do of course

036mrs stepnowski is a good reminder several times a week just to make sure everyone says on top of things but we're at a place where we really our districts are striving through so i'm thrilled with that another thing i wanted to add is we have um there are now up to six free testing sites in the county that have offered each study of the weeks of different types of testing that will where plays will be accommodated in their off-work hours and it shouldn't be any of their schedules and we're now talking about before this meeting this evening one of the things they're approving is a mobile lab to come to the commonwealth site to serve the community as well as several other different districts come together and mobile testing on a thursday afternoon that not

037only offers the nasal swab but it's also saliva test as well that in 15 minutes people can get their testing completed so we have 10 of our people have um signed up to go to the great thank you thank you mrs robinson um last week if it was the sixth we had imported in the finance committee meeting to review some of the items that you see on the agenda tonight um one item i want to draw attention to in particular is 1403 where you see the multiple accounts transfers now this is a transaction that we do every year to close out the previous school year as far as the um bunch of clients are concerned so many times we end up being here with you know some lines out of balance and negative positions so

038we have to do those transfers after here in preparation for the um external auditors come in and do the financial statement for them um so we have them scheduled to come in next week for two days um the current and the nasty so they're going to do the final um introduced into the financial statement report um at the next part of the finance committee meeting mr computer repeaters will be there uh as he does every year to kind of give you a summary of the financial statements and then he'll be here at the next board meeting again to present to the entire board about the state of the financial state of the district at that point we'll also have the fund balance and all these um items for you to approach to totally close out

039the previous school year 2020 2021 um the other items on the um agenda does we've been doing a great deal of taking the components that have been spoken up tonight and making very deliberate efforts to do a k-12 approach um to echo one of the questions that you were looking for anastasia there's we look to outside consultants to help us in areas that need help but majority is right here in our own backyard with our teachers with our counselors with our tas with our guidance i could go and all their expertise so the work that's been that anna and mike were talking about i'm looking at that and have the pleasure of my brother brush so we've been setting up meetings k through 12 because we're capitalizing on things that dr botcher has established with

040seo talking to the counselors at the high school talking to the counselors at the intermediate school and making um 8-12 conversation about building on those expertises what works at each building and developing protocols that are shared k-12 so we don't have to reinvent the wheel here we just have to look at what's working design that for age appropriate according to each building and then have opportunities where the staff can talk together and be a part of that discussion i do need to give a shout out to our social workers and our counselors our guidance counselors our mental health professionals in the building they have hit the ground running there is [Music] a demand that is significant and always has been and anxiety and depression doesn't kick in at high school we have little ones that

041are experiencing challenges with these areas that they walk into our buildings with and they need us to be better equipped to help them so the counselors have been extremely busy and it's it's appreciative that they are finding the time because they do see it as value-added to have a k-12 approach so again we're looking at what are our protocols what is our crisis intervention plan how do we who's who is that at each building world responsibility communication so that none of us get in the way of their work and all of us are acknowledging and supporting the great work which most of which is done very private very confidential and yet the magnitude of the work that they're already doing is pretty astonishing there's been no honeymoon and there are some indices of postcode and

042it's the world in which we're living in and our children are feeling it and they're in need of our mental health support so that's a big part of what's going on the literacy and reading piece has been something that i've been directly involved with so we continue to provide outside support to take care of our children because there are children whose reading deficits were significant and we are taking care of that parallel we continue to work on what are we doing systemically to do a better job with that instruction with that assessment with that with our protocols again k through 12. so um there's targeted areas and then there's things that we can tap into and say let's let's work on this deliberately into a better job um so carrie leo is not the dln

043door she's been an outreach to help us help children who are struggling right now so that they get their needs met and we are working towards a systemic approach and now that virginia is officially on board we have jamie i'm leading on virginia and jamie's leadership to design a very explicit k-12 assessment intervention support that plays out in our rti that plays out in our refers to special ed that plays out into our interventions from the building level to a much more diagnostic approach so we are not defined yet what carry how we're going to utilize kevin leo's um agency if at all that will be it's already put on hold for things that have been shared with us from the teachers and we want to use that to complement their work again not interfere

044so that's an ongoing discussion and data to come thank you very much does anyone have any questions because all right we will move along to our committees i am going to only read about the committees that have led me to recently um meeting met on october 6th when it goes and um the facilities meeting met on october 1st and um continued to follow up with items that are up at the state education department to be approved we've talked about our heating systems with the coils still on that corner hopefully they were coming into sleep this this week and put in um putting installed during evening hours so not to disrupt our students um and just went over again for gaming the personnel committee met on october 6th and went through all of the appointees for

045this evening the policy committee met on september 23rd and recommends the board review policy 6430 wire transfer for first reading as presented and recommends the board review policy 6420 online banking services for the first reading as presented does anybody have any questions on those policies um the special education committee met with mrs detherio she just filled me with briefly about the reading and the subjects that we spoke of the dei diversity equity inclusivity task force met on september 30th and october 7th so anyone have anything new okay mrs thank you and just have a clip up thank you we're just going to provide an update on the diversity equities including task force just to provide an overview i know i i provided some of this information at the august meeting but again the board of

046regents um adopted a ddi policy and basically requested that all districts begin this work more formally and that's why we ended up creating a diversity equity and a smoking task force until again the purpose of it our task force is developed and recommend a policy a dei policy to the superintendent of the board event uh review the new york state culture response to sustaining education framework study district-wide data points learn and create an understanding of bei and develop the bei district orange strategic plan and so this was i believe our second meeting we've been having between uh 35 to 40 members attend so right now we're up to 43 members of stakeholders comprised of students administrators teachers parents and so forth and so we have met uh for three sessions so far on september 23rd

047september 30th and the last one uh last week october 7th we meet for two hours for each session and within these past three meetings basically what we've done is we've established forms it's so important because we do have a large group to just make sure that we establish norms and that we get to work um each stakeholder group in the new york state uh social responsive sustaining education framework large document and there are um indicators or rather guidelines for each of the stakeholder groups so each of the groups whether you were student teacher administrator and so forth was able to study their piece of the document and we had discussions around and what it meant for us so that'll be ongoing then we began to study some of district-wide data points overview general demographics um

048some of our regions assessments and so forth and we'll continue to dive into other um assessments next we'll look at a three between eight assessments and more of our the moment more of our in-house data points moving forward i'll be sharing throughout the next sessions and then um we are beginning to made a draft of our media icons we started um three policies the eastern suburbs policies the sample of them and then also the scarsdale school district and so we've been studying that and now for the next session we will actually begin our first draft and we've also been doing some exercises around diversity equity and inclusion and obviously this work is ongoing so we'll continue to meet once a month finalize the eye policy begin to do some work on our district black plan

049like i said continue to study district-wide data points and again continue to learn to create an understanding of the ei specifically targeting obviously our school district so what does that mean for south hampton united preschool district those are just some pictures of some group work that um we've been doing we've been doing a lot of large and school food work and just learning from each other thank you does anyone have any questions i don't have a question but i wanted to just say that i've attended two out of three meetings we've had a really um great turnout as far as the people that are participating in the district and anna's doing a really fantastic job of fostering some meaningful conversations and also um you know explaining different um definitions terminology which there is on the

050same page so thank you so much i think the most important thing that i got out of the last meeting was the importance of not letting any of this fall to the wayside once we're done with policy there's a huge concern by people community members educators that we're doing this work and we've done it before and then you know it falls to the waist side um we really need to work hard on the board that you know i asked the board to continually support this work um you know even after we get policy and close to political policy committee um because the conversation that we're having is um they're powerful and they're building relationships and connections that they the people in that room would normally not have um so that's it i just want to

051make sure that um that we know the importance of the work that we're doing the hard work that we're doing and um the importance of you know staying steadfast to the goal of the dei and the task force yeah thank you for mentioning that that that's important and what comes to mind always and the team has that accountability so really they're looking to me to make sure that they've even said it um just to grow um we hope that this is not another book about that now and um i'm holding myself to that i hold myself accountable that it doesn't become that and um that it will be meaningful work in the long run and that will really commit to this work so thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead and help to

052facilitate this work and it's super important and thank you and i'll be providing updates whenever you need to go next week and how many students do we have was it like seven eight we're about yeah seven students seven eight yeah that's fantastic yeah and they've been sharing so much um that it's really nice just to hear their perspective and um the room gets so silent when they speak because it's meaningful and impactful what they have to share so it's been really nice to hear their voice that's super important that we do moving forward thank you thank you thank you very much i skipped over infrastructure security meetings that happened on september 17th one of the biggest things we were working on this week is the security project the uh cameras we are in the process

055may i have a motion to approve the minutes of the september 28th work session meeting second all in favor we are at unfinished business does anybody have any unfinished [Music] the other day with the uh both the national suffolk uh school boards discussing different resolutions most of my different things how it doesn't mentally but most of them are dealing with things that you're pretty familiar with about financing for certain districts but again even that sort of flavor because of the state trying to bring the foundation of aid up to for school districts so a lot of the resolutions the things that we've heard before it's a resolution i think a lot of these people take the resolution of serious parking of the uh the committee would be on the school board is to have legislation

056written let's say in terms of some public policy some of the things we discussed the last meeting but it's not for this you know that this group to do so i think they get hung up on we want this or we don't want this but you're not doing that you're actually making the recommendations that the legislators do things so i will briefly when i'm done i mean most of the 18 or 19 resolutions um are pretty much this consensus on there become outliers from upstate and some of the different concerns i'll brief you when it's over great thank you and again thank you for doing this for no public promise um under new business uh may i have a motion to deny the grievance brought to the board during executive sessions and now may i
