report this evening. >> Good evening. Yesterday we held our very first 8th grade awards ceremony which was a wonderful time to celebrate many many of our students and their accomplishments throughout the year. During that time we we celebrated too who are in this room right now. But this is a very special moment. It feels like the recognition at the board of education meeting means this is complete and it's official. And we have our saludiatoran, our validictorian here. And there's not enough that we could say about these two students. They're just so kind. They're both leaders in their own different ways. And obviously, they put in a ton of hard work and academic success came from that. And it will continue surely throughout these next couple years in high school. And so I do want to
acknowledge Nicholas Patino, our saludiatoran, [applause] our validictorian this year, Emerlyn Trant. [applause] [applause] Take a photo of you with our photo. >> [laughter] >> Let's step forward once we're even. >> All right, we have to scoot just a little. >> You got to get closer. Darn it. [laughter] Right. There we go. Perfect. Thank you everybody. Our 2026 [applause] Was [applause] that that conclude our >> Yes. >> Wonderful principles. [laughter] >> Congratulations. >> Wonderful way to end it. And congratulations to you guys. We're very proud of you. It's it doesn't come with an incredible amount of hard work. uh but sometimes even with hard work you can't do what you guys did. So obviously you have some gifts as well. So um congratulations and uh having said that whenever we have students here I always want
to preface if the parents and students if you need to go home or anything um you know it's not rude to leave at any time. Um but having said that we'll move to our public comment number one uh for agenda items only. Are there any questions from those here tonight or those who might be calling from home uh to make a comment on agenda items only for now? Uh LTV, let us know if there's anyone. >> Yeah, we [snorts] have no callers on the line. Eric, >> are there any? No. All right. Wonderful. So, we're going to move to our consent agenda items. Uh I ask for a motion to approve items 41 through 410 on our consent agenda. Do I have a motion? Motion. >> Do I have a second? >> All those in
favor? I. Any opposed? None. All right. Motion carries. So, we're going to now move to our business items. Uh second, I ask for a motion to approve items 51 through 512 under business items on our agenda. Do I have a motion? >> Motion. >> Second. >> All right. Jonathan, would you review these for us, please? >> Sure. Not a problem. Thank you, Eric. Uh, I'll try to make it quick because I know there's more exciting things to come on the agenda tonight. Uh, 5.1 to 5.6, those are just our usual monthly reports. 5.7, that's to authorize the TAN for the upcoming fiscal year. After that, we have a budget authorization. This is um we have a number of retirees that have retired throughout this year. This is appropriating the reserve to fund their retirement um
acred benefits. After that we have the 2627 Boseies contract. The amount there is just the initial amount as um we go throughout the year and we use services the contract fluctuates throughout the year depending on the needs of the district. After that we have a service contract with family of kids who provides a number of services for the district. Then we have um our contract with Southampton. We have one student who goes there. Um they wish to attend the summer program there. So that's the contract for that. Finally, we have a instruction contract. It's more of a form that needs to get filled out with the state. We're in the second year of our tuition contract with East Hampton for the high school students. The state has come out with a semi- new report. They
kind of revamped it and instead of having it done once every one contract period, they want it done annually. So this is just the board approving that to be filed with the state and that is it. Any questions? >> Yes. You guys have any questions? >> All right. Well, thank you Jonathan. Uh so with that said, all those in favor. >> Any opposed? None. Motion carries. Very exciting. Moving along now [laughter] we're not ready for the uh superintendent report and recommendations. Uh I ask for a motion to approve items 61 through 65 under the superintendence report. Do I have a motion? >> All right, that sounded like two motions. [laughter] A second there. >> Nancy, would you take it away? >> Okay. So, um this is a very special evening for me. We're going to
be acknowledging um some teachers who are receiving tenure this evening and also acknowledging um some teachers who will be retiring. And I just want to say I'm very very honored to uh be recognizing these two groups of educators who represent very different milestones in a career dedicated to serving children. While one group is beginning a new chapter through the granting of tenure, the other is concluding remarkable careers that had left an enduring impact on generations of spring students. First, I'd like to congratulate our three teachers who are being awarded tenure this evening. Tenure is not simply a milestone reached through the passage of time. It's earned three years of hard work, dedication, professional growth, and a demonstrated commitment to the students and families we serve. First, I'm honored to recommend Mr. Corey Strain to receive
tenure in the area of social studies. [applause] >> [applause] >> And next, I am honored to recommend Sandra Beckio to receive tenure in the area of science. [applause] And last but of course not least, I'm very honored to recommend tenure in the area of school guidance counselor to Diane Shoemaker. [applause] She's not able to be here this evening, but we'll be sure to recognize her. And I just need to say I have observed all three of these teachers and there is absolutely no question they have earned this designation. Um receiving tenure is an honor and a responsibility and it reflects the confidence that the board of education and the district have in these educators and their ability to continue making a positive difference in the lives of our students for many many years to come.
So congratulations to all of you on this well WELLDESERVED [applause] >> [applause] >> AND JUST BEFORE I go to the next uh piece of our agenda in recognizing our retirees, I do just need to point out and thank the following organizations for their generous donations for scholarships to our eighth grade students. We have our SUFFK Association of School Business Officials, Munistat Services, Apple Bank, and Envir Science. and they donated um scholarships for some of our eighth grade graduates. I'm really acknowledging some students who have gone above beyond in different areas of business. So, we thank them for the very very generous donations. And now um is we just want to recognize three extraordinary teachers who are retiring if a com after a combined total of more than 90 years of service to spring school. All
three of these teachers were colleagues of mine when I began my teaching career here at Springs decades ago and they each hold a very special place in my heart. I will miss seeing them each and every day and I do feel very old now that they're going to [laughter] be leaving and there's not many of of us left. But it was really special to me that when I came back here to Springs, these people who who I worked with for many years and who I just taught with and um collaborated with were still here when I came back. It made me feel very much at home. So I thank you for um all your dedication to the spring school district. And um I just want to say that 90 years uh does represent far more
than a number. It represents thousands of lessons taught, countless hours spent preparing, mentoring, coaching, encouraging, and supporting students. It represents generations of children whose lives were enriched because of the care, expertise, and dedication of these educators. The impact of a teacher extends well beyond the classroom walls. It can be seen in the confidence they build, the opportunities they create, and the memories they leave behind. And first I just want to recognize uh Mrs. Joan Branch and we have a proclamation to celebrate her distinguous career. So whereas Joan Branch has devoted 35 years of dedicated service to the students, family, and staff of the Springs Union Free School District. And whereas throughout her remarkable career, she shared not only her talents as an educator, but also the milestones of her life with the Springs community, celebrating
her marriage and raising her two daughters alongside the district family she cherished. And whereas her classroom was a place of warmth, creativity, and joy, where the sound of her piano playing drifted through the hallways, bringing music, comfort, and inspiration to students and colleagues alike. And whereas she enthusiastically honored the sacrifices of our nation's veterans each year, making Veterans Day a meaningful and memorable experience for her students while fostering respect, gratitude, and civic pride. And whereas her unwavering kindness, compassion, and dedication touched countless lives, creating lasting relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Now for be it resolved that the board of education of the Springs Union Free School District hereby expresses its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Joan Branch for her 35 years of exemplary service and cor congratulate her on the occasion of her retirement.
Be it further resolved that the board of education extended sincere wishes for health, happiness, and fulfillment in the years ahead. And we thank you for the contribution you have made to the spring school community. [applause] Thank you all. >> Thank you. Thank you. Thank you so much. >> And next we have a proclamation for Miss Tracy Frasier. And whereas Tracy Frasier has dedicated 26 years of exemplary service to students, families, and staff of the Springs Union Free School District, leaving an indelible mark on the school community through her commitment to education and her love for children. And whereas throughout her distinguished career, she was known for arriving each day with enthusiasm, optimism, and readiness to begin the day's work. Whereas she was tireless and a tireless advocate for literacy and learning, spearheading literacy programs that
enriched educational opportun opportunities for students and fostered a lifelong love of reading throughout the district. And whereas she proudly shared her beloved homeland of Australia with her students, bringing its culture, traditions, history, and unique perspective into the classroom, broadening horizons and creating memorable learning experience for countless children. And whereas her commitment to the Springs community extended far beyond the classroom as she faithfully attended school and community events year after year, supporting students, celebrating their accomplishments, and strengthening the bonds that make Springs such a special place. And now therefore, be it resolved that the board of education of the Springs Union Preschool District hereby expresses its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Tracy Frasier for 26 years of outstanding service and congratulates her on the occasion of her retirement. [clears throat] Be it further resolved that the
board of education extends its sincere best wishes for health, happiness, and fulfillment as she begins this well-earned new chapter of her life. >> [applause] >> more. >> And I just have to say, um, Tracy is the one person that's always here when I get here in the [laughter] morning. Yeah, she's like me and early morning. I'm going to miss you. Always. Good morning, Miss Tra. Good morning, Miss Carney. [applause] And um Jerry Tapia is uh the third person that is going to be retiring from the district and she wasn't able to be here this evening um due to the long commute and I give Jerry uh so much credit. She's been commuting uh a long distance for almost 30 years back and forth to the district. So committed uh to Spring School District. Uh but
with the US Open going, it's been really challenging and we are going to acknowledge her at a future date. Um so we will be presenting her with her proclamation and flowers at another time. So I just want to say I'd like us all to stand and give a round of applause to our retirees. [applause] Thank you all so much. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. That was a amazing superintendent's report tonight. And what a balance between new beginnings uh and amazing endings. I remember my own children, you know, being influenced by them. Uh it's very touching and uh just wanted to thank you all again for everything that you've committed and dedicated to our school and very excited uh to see what's in store for it's been a few years and
now it's going to be hopefully many more for our newly tenure teachers as well. Uh you've been excellent role models for them for both of you and so we're losing that but I'm sure this next chapter in your lives is going to be amazing as well. So thank you so much. Uh so let's make it official. All those in favor, [laughter] none opposed. Motion carries. [applause] >> And we are now moving to our final section this evening, public comment number two. This is the time where we can make comments about items that are not necessarily on the agenda. So LTV, if there's anyone out there, let us know. And if there's anyone here tonight that'd like to make a comment, uh, you're welcome to, um, I'm going to open the floor now and let us
know, LTV, if we have any callers. >> We have no callers, Eric. >> I I always have to ask, [laughter] and no takers here, it appears. Um, so a wonderful evening is had by all. [laughter] I will now ask for a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion first. Second. I heard a couple. All those in favor? I meeting ajourned. [applause] >> Thanks, LTV. Thank you all.
