on our end. So, all right. So, move on to Yep. I think we have a presentation. Miss Judith. >> Hi. Good evening, everyone. Hi. Um, I'm very excited to introduce to you a group of um, very artistic fifth graders who've been working on a special project, but I wanted to take a few minutes if you would like to see our soft opening of the playground today. [clears throat] >> So, while there is still work to be done and we are planning a formal ribbon cutting in the spring once the um, basketball courts have been paved and you know the the project is complete, we had the opportunity today to get kids out on the main structures and I think that they have left. Is that is that accurate to say? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >>

Oh, shoot. [snorts] >> Oh, I also just want to thank Tim Tierney and Erica Fuel for helping put together the video. Good. [singing and music] Yeah. >> [music] >> Okay. >> [clears throat] >> Yeah. [music] Heat. That's [music] Looks like fun. >> That's cool. Nice job all the way around. >> Yeah. >> Wow. [singing] [music] >> [music] [music] [singing and music] >> Wow. >> You know, it was worth the wait. Certainly worth the wait. That's great. I'm going to invite Dawn Diamond to come up and talk a little bit about the program our fifth graders have been working on since fourth grade. It's a collaboration with Guild Hall and one of our local artists. Um, and we look forward to hearing more uh details from the students about their journey. [clears throat] >> Yeah. Every

year we do our Guild Hall student art show. And starting last year when they were fourth graders, we were able to work with Scott Ludor, a local artist. Um, and they really got to know him well. We worked with him for a few weeks last year and then he came back this year. Um, and he [clears throat] also worked with them on learning about other artists. who studied Robert Bashenberg's and his collaboration and how he combined everything know it's his work combines and uh they had a chance we went on a field trip to Montalk to ditch planes to collect things and kind of understand what they could do with the artwork and they were able to see one of his projects where if you look closely you can see it was made out of

flip-flops and found things from the beach and [clears throat] so they were able to work on that last year and this year go into a much larger scale project that was in the art show for December [clears throat] >> and uh they have a few words as to how the project went. [clears throat] >> Greetings from Planet Art. My name is Aiden McDermott and I'm going to share what my favorite thing was working with Scott Bulldart was. I love to be able to express, paint, and make a beautiful sculpture with my team, if I do say so myself. Thank you, Mr. the blue for this great experience. [clears throat and laughter] >> Hi, my name is Claire Tupper. I'm in fifth grade and love to participate in our class. My favorite part of [clears throat]

working on our project with Scott Ludor was designing, painting, and collaging the materials together on our group project. Working together as a team was a fun and creative experience. Thank you to Mr. Blueorm for sharing this time with us. >> Hi, my name is Bri and I'm in fifth grade. My favorite part of working with Scott Blue was when we were painting our project. It was really fun and we got to work as a team and our project turned out amazing. Hi, my name is Berra Manardi and my favorite part of working in Scott Blueorf was working together with all my friends to make an amazing piece of art. Thank you again to Mr. Scott Blueor. I am so grateful for everything you have taught us. >> Hi, my name is My favorite part of

doing this project with Scott Blondor was being able to go to the beach and being able to get the object to put on the canvas. It was fun and we all enjoyed this experience. >> Hi, my name is Evelyn and I love working with Scott Blood. My favorite part was when we got to paint and add pictures. It was very fun to place objects down and Mrs. Diamond hot glued them to our project. >> Hi, my name is Lucia Lemonius and my favorite part of the Scott Pluto project was working together and using all of the different materials to make a 3D piece of art. It was a great way to express ourselves and show our creativity. I am so thankful for Scott Scott Blueorn to go out of his way to show us that

there is a way to make everything into art. Thank you so much for your time. [snorts] >> Hi, my name is Cindy Wild. I worked on a project with Scott. I loved how you could express yourself in the art project he did and how you could work as a team and make something so beautiful and artistic. Thanks Scott Blueorn for letting us um do art with him. My name is Isa Beach and my favorite part of working Scott Blue is when we went to ditch plans to collect all the trash on the beach. It was kind of like a beach cleanup and we repurposed it and used in our projects, too. I like the concept that we were kind of painting in 3D. I learned a lot about art history and about Renberg's style of

art combined. It was a fun, expressive, and collaborative project. Thank you for listening. [applause] Thank you guys very much. Very cool. Uh and as a a prize to you guys, you get to leave if you'd like. [laughter] So, we won't make you stay. So, if you want to make your way out, if you want to stay, you can. But, uh we'll give you the opportunity. We'll take a couple second break. You guys can get >> Thank you. Yeah. >> Yes. >> John Don, is it still up the exhibit? >> We're getting the pieces back. >> Oh, great. This week um and one of them on there actually I'm hoping to hang in the >> in the hallway here, >> conference room. >> Yeah, there's another artwork there that's back to John Marshall and we'll replace

it. Um, and if there's anywhere else we can hang some because they are very large. [laughter] >> I'm sure we can find a spot here or something. >> Yeah, sounds wonderful. >> Thank you. [clears throat] >> Move on to uh where are we now? So, news of the school. Move on to news of the school. Dr. Sata, >> good to see you. Sorry. Happy New Year. Good evening. >> So, we have uh a lot going on in January and February. I'll just give you a brief synopsis here. [clears throat and snorts] Our uh local ITRI group is going to kick off. I know they use our uh school as a home base for the ITIRE program, not to be confused with the Y tribe program, which is our sixth grade character building program. This, as

you know, is across the East End, and it's really fantastic. So, I met with Natalie [clears throat] Cisco a couple of weeks ago, and we set up the dates for the introduction for our kids, our girls. So, in mid uh January, all of our sixth grade girls will have a chance with um Dr. White and Mrs. Winter and Mr. Lazarus all there to hear about the program together. And then um we'll have two information uh sessions for parents and students that it runs themselves and that's in later January. So we do a small short about 15minute introduction with our sixth grade girls and then they hear from ITRI on two different nights in both English and Spanish. And it's really fantastic. They use Lee Bryant's room and the program has attracted a lot of students

over the years and we're really lucky that it's right in the building. >> Yes, sir. >> Just how many uh how many kids does does our middle school usually have? How many girls? >> It it varies, John. It goes anywhere between eight to 18. >> And it depends on the year and and the interest and the buzz around it, >> right? But um for the most part there's healthy participation and montalk usually joins us. Not always but students from there because they're much smaller they usually join our group. And then when there's space they allow seventh and eighth grade girls to join as well. Either alums who want to do it again or students who would benefit. And this is where Mrs. Winter and Dr. White and Mr. Lazarus come in because they would then

go to particular students they think would benefit and contact their parents and say, "Hey, have you thought about this?" And then we work to try to get other students involved. But it's extremely positive. It's really a great program. >> Yeah. >> So for for us, we celebrate um MLK Day throughout our social studies classes, integrating lessons in grades six, seven, and eight. um you know as you would imagine on anti-discrimination, non-violence, civil rights and acceptance all all good values um and again in all three grades but then that spirals into grade 8 where Mr. Frieia in particular who has all of the eighth graders does a full civil rights unit in the context of of the 1960s and that's really well done um and and integrated >> then [clears throat] and we've really lucked out

with this and we're going to continue it as many of you know we do project hero in grade seven which is our kindness empathy building program using actors mainly from the city uh under Kate Muse's direction it's really Stella you were a part of It's very interactive. It's a lot of fun. Um it helps break the ice around some of these topics which are, you know, can be difficult for students um all middle schoolers, not just seventh graders. But that we've now been kicking off for several years after MLK day. So for all the values that Martin Luther King stood for, it's actually perfect that that Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday then the all the seventh grade has this program which is as I [clears throat] said pretty fantastic in particular for the middle year's crew.

Um and then finally at the end of this month we start our uh movement unit, a dance and movement unit and PE classes. So everyone has to participate in the dance and movement unit but everyone does not have to come to the Madhart dance off which is in the evening. However, as you know since we've changed it to a competition and it's not about couples dancing. We've had 90 to 95% participation over the past couple years and we love that because the idea is we want everybody out there. So I will report on that when we get closer. But that shift has made a very big difference in getting you know kids to be there. And we we have also added pizza. I don't think you had that when you were there. So it's also

pizza night which attracts you know >> even more students. [laughter] >> Thanks Charlie >> Sarah. Um, we are, uh, very proud to have one of our own teachers, Dr. Stephanie Forsber, who was named the 27 East person of the year. So, J, honor and so deserved. Um, although I think she might kill me for mentioning Gay, she is incredibly humble about it. Um, no surprise there, but uh, certainly a well-deserved honor. Um, and we are beyond lucky to have her. Um, and I just wanted to give you an update only because I didn't have time before the break. Uh, we had a new run with Bonic Lights this year at Malford Farms as opposed to here. Um, and that happened on Friday night, I think December 5th. And by December 5th, uh, Reverend Shambo from

St. Luke's uh, emailed me saying, "Let's book it for next year." Uh so it was a huge success. They let us use Hoy Hall at St. Luke's and so we had the typical crafts uh games all the activities for young ones and um just a reminder all of that money we are so grateful to the Mason all of that money goes to scholarships and this year they raised over $12,000 for scholarships. So just I mean uh such a you know yman's work um all going to benefit our students. So, uh, it that was a huge success. So, thank you to the Masons, um, and particularly Brian Lester who really helped facilitate that. Um, our play is underway. Auditions, uh, were before break and they are in full, uh, throttle of, um, Into the Woods, so

rehearsing and, um, really gearing up for that. Just a reminder like between the cast, the crew, the orchestra that touches you know roughly 90 of our students. So just you know an excellent uh way to loop them in. Um and a positive wonderful environment for them. Uh running through February uh 27th and 29th is when it's showtime. So uh we are really looking forward to that. And then just wanted to give you a quick update on our SAT prep program. I mentioned this in the fall, but uh just prior to break, we had our uh first cohort take the SAT and they came back totally unsolicited and did say that the strategies they learned in the course and all the work that they did was very helpful. Um we of course don't have their exact

scores back yet, but the uh anecdotal uh information they gave us, it was very helpful. and we are now in our second cohort which began the Monday after break. Um so uh continuing to find success there and tweak that program uh based on student feedback. We had our alumni panel today. Always great to hear our graduates come back and talk to our students about college life. uh this year and last year, I don't know if I mentioned it last year, but this year we had um our main panel, but we also had for our ENL students, uh our Spanish-speaking students come back and speak with them in here in a little bit of a smaller environment. That was very nice because it was former ENL students speaking with ENL students and they were able to

ask, you know, more intimate questions that they might not feel comfortable asking in the larger environment. um a you know a great success and as I always say every year you're probably sick of hearing it they listen so much more to [laughter] students than they do to us but uh so always and always of course nice to see the exciting things our graduates are doing >> we have one graduate who's at uh NYU in Shanghai so uh very cool yeah uh and that's one of our ENL students learning her fourth language Chinese so very cool uh doing great uh last thing we are changing our course selection presentation for this year. Um trying to promote all of the different classes and electives that are available to students and just kind of make sure all students

are aware of everything that we offer, everything that they could possibly take. So tomorrow we are hosting two different assemblies for students in grades 9 through 12 just to review and coordinators will go over everything from our automotive program to science research. uh to uh our history to BBS just to make sure students know everything that is open to them. [clears throat] Um and then that will be followed up by the individual meetings students have with their counselors uh to solidify their schedules and opportunities for next year. So I'll let you know how that goes. >> Thanks. >> Thank you. >> Good evening. Happy new year. >> Um exciting things. Um the fall New York State scholar athlete teams, boys and girls cross country, boys golf, field hockey, football, girls swimming, girls tennis, girls volleyball,

boys volleyball, and [clears throat] girls soccer teams. Um winter is in full swing. Couple upcoming games if you're around. Wrestling is home tomorrow against West Icelip. Boys basketball is home Thursday against ESM. Girls basketball is home Saturday against Port Jeff. Swimming will be home on the 14th against West Icelip. That is a change. was supposed to be home on the 16th. We are switching that to the 14th. And bowling will be at Allstar tomorrow. If you're on your way to Riverhead and want to go watch our bowling team, it's great. Uh big news, we have two swimmers, Liam Knight and Nick Chavez, who have already qualified for the New York State Championships for swimming in Ithaca on March 6th and 7th. >> Bronco Campy, Abonic wrestler, for the first time since 1987 when Eric Kaufman

was a 100 career winner. We have another 100 career winner here. He has already passed him with 103 and tomorrow night will definitely come. >> Still let Eric know that. [laughter] >> He knows. >> Um, our football team was recognized by the East Hampton Town and will be recognized again by the Calvary Baptist Church for Martin Luther King Day on the 18th. >> Thank you very much. Thank you. S >> um I hope everyone had a really good two week break. I know we're very happy about [laughter] that. >> Um before break we had the bond meeting at school and I heard really really good things about it from the students. Everyone was really really excited and I definitely had like a lot of different opinions and um suggestions and they thought it was really

cool that they get got to have a say. Um so that was really nice. Thank you for having that in school. And um the January 1st deadline is huge for college applications. I think it was 1st, 5th and 10th is coming up and after that seniors are good. So definitely very [clears throat] high morale after the twoe break and that that's all we need to have. Um and oh and Lys, the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair and New York State Science and Engineering Fair um preparation for that is in full force. So really, really exciting and lots of good things to come. [clears throat] >> Great. >> I say that might have been one of the most productive bond meetings we had with the >> student really a lot of people and they spoke

up. They they they had questions. They had >> um ideas. It was it was great. [clears throat] It was great commentary. >> It was Yeah, it was. It was good for us. >> No, I'm so happy we were able to do that during the day and have the student. >> Exactly. >> Yeah. >> I can't think of the last time we had a meeting during the day, but it was definitely It was good. >> It was good. >> Anything else? Good. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. So, let's see where we public comment. Do we have anybody here for public comment on an agenda item at this point? LTV, do you have anybody with a public comment? We have no callers on the line. >> Terrific. Thank you. All right, we'll move on

to the consent agenda for now. Okay. >> Can I have a motion to accept the consent agenda? >> Make a motion. >> Second. >> All in favor? >> All right. We'll go on to the superintendent report and recommendations. The first item is recommend that the board accept a letter of resignation from Rebecca Kio that for her position as licensed practical nurse and that the board approved the non-instructional appointment of Rebecca Kio the position of registered nurse effective December 7th 2025. Can I have a motion? >> I'll make a motion. Second. >> Second. >> Discussion. Congrat Congratulations. That's awesome. >> Yes. >> All in favor? >> Any [clears throat] opposed? Number two, recommend that the board approve the contractual appointment of Matthew Artillo, the position of instructional permanent substitute. Can I have a motion? >> I'll

make a motion. I'll [laughter] second. >> Second. Any discussion? >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? Number three, recommend the board accept with gratitude the following donations. And the list is rather long, which is very nice. Thank you to everybody that has just across the year. I think we have more donations now than we've had in many many years and our community is very generous and and thank you uh for that. >> Yep. >> Um can I do a motion? >> Motion. >> I'll make a motion. >> Second. You guys already discussed it. >> Any [laughter] other discussion besides Thank you. >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? Number four. recommends the board approve the annual contracts and agreements the 202526 and the 2026 27 school years. Can I have a motion? >> I'll make

a motion. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Standard stuff and additional contracts with transportation for project most. We've been they've been a great partner in asking and working with us for transportation. So, it's a revenue for us. >> Good. >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? Number five, recommend the board uh take no position at this time to the feasibility recommendations of the uh contained with the zero emissions vehicle transportation study report. >> Make a motion. >> Move along with it. Yes. >> Second. >> All in favor? We've discussed that at >> millions. >> Uh number six, recommend the board authorize the allocation of bond proceeds from the transportation center project for the following purposes. Can I have a motion? >> I'll make a motion. >> Second. Any discussion? Sam, can you uh say what

we're doing with the leftover money? >> Okay. So, we have some leftover money from the transportation center because the job was brought in under budget. uh we can't use the money to pay the uh pay more than the debt at the moment because the bond is not what they call callable yet. It's going to take a few more years for that to happen. So, in order to spend down the money, what we're going to do is with your permission, take the money that is left over to pay this year's existing debt. And then we're going to replace the money that was used in the budget to pay this year's existing debt. And we're gonna purchase some more diesel buses while we still can. >> Great. >> Very good idea. >> We worked with the uh

[clears throat] our preferred provider for buses. They've agreed to come in at the amount of money we had available. So, we're going to be getting as long as you approve this four diesel buses. >> For about $612,000. >> That's probably one bus in the future. >> Maybe one and a half. And we're going to have a little bit of money uh still more money left over from unspent and we're going to do this again in July in a slightly modified version. >> Okay, >> Great. Wonderful. >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? >> Number seven, recommend the board accept the f the federal single audit federal I'm sorry, the federal single audit for the 20242 school year. Can I have a motion? >> I make it. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> All in favor?

I [clears throat] >> I any opposed? Number eight. Recommended the board accept the internal audit risk assessment report as prepared by Questar 2 Boseis the 202526 school year. Can I have a motion? Second. Second discussion. All in favor? >> Any opposed? Uh number nine. Uh recommend that the board approve the budget transfers for the 202526 school year. Can I have a motion? I'll make a motion. >> Second. >> Any discussion? Anything? Standard payroll stuff. Payroll. >> Standard payroll stuff. And also we need some money around to make up the additional money we need to purchase those four buses from several motions. >> Great. All in favor? >> Opposed. Number [clears throat] 10. Uh second final reading of the revised policy committee of the board's pol board policy 2210 and nominations and elections of board members

and duties of the president and vice president. I have a motion >> second. >> Any discussion? >> That's the one we added about the vice president. >> Yes. >> All in favor? >> Any opposed? [clears throat] We're down to uh new business. >> Old business. old. We have no old business. >> New business new business school calendar. >> Did we get Did we get it a copy? >> No, you don't have it yet because this is my preliminary discussion and informing the community what Stella said for next year is not going to be what happened this year. So, >> this was this is a topic that we had over Christmas. So, this year is who the winner is. This is just to give you heads up. We'll probably put this on the February or maybe

the next meeting to adopt. Um, it's a late start, so we're able, it was very difficult to fix this and get this in. We're starting our normal start, but we start late. We start on September 8th, so we start after Labor Day. That's eight. We will have staff in our normal two days before, but then things get a little hairy. Um, unfortunately for, you know, we'll lose a day off because the Jewish holidays are over the weekend. Rashan is over the weekend. So, those two. Yum Kipur, you do get that in September. Um October, obviously Columbus Day, you know, then we do our normal November December break will start on a Thursday and end on a Friday. So you're not having two weeks again. [clears throat] I mean, your parents all complained. They said, "Don't

ever do that again." [laughter] >> It happens every five years. >> Yep. Exactly. So we got it two years in a row, which was, you know, uh January is long. The February breaks a normal standard break here. We I didn't dabble with that April break in March. So you have good f Good Friday and it's not attached to Passover. Bosey's led led, you know, really led into doing it in April. So you have one day off in April. Hopefully it breaks up third that month. And then you go to the third week in April um for that week off. >> So So Easter's late late March. >> A the 26th. Um then April you have Passover late April 19th through 23rd for a full week. You don't have the seven days off that you would

have this year. Um uh May is normal um u Memorial Day. I was able to build in one snow day. Junth it falls on a weekend uh on a Saturday. So but I decided I figured at that point of the year we should have another day off. So I moved it to the Friday and I felt it's something that's an important day that we should make maintain. Other districts did not do that. They just left it over the weekend. We do have Friday off. It'll be a rating day uh here. There will be no testing Sarah that day just so you know. Be a rating day anyway. Um so uh needless to say it's not a fun calendar I guess. I mean depends on how you look at it. But >> what's the last what's

the last day of school? >> Last day of school is the 25th of June. >> Wow. So >> you will get your copies next week. Uh we'll discuss we'll do our first reading. Uh we'll do our first reading. >> Yeah. Yep. >> So good news. >> Prepared so the community can yell at you. Hopefully >> yell at me. So >> all right. So nothing else on new business. Back to public comment again. Do we have anybody with a public comment? LTV, do you have anybody with a public comment? >> No, we have no callers on the line. >> Terrific. Have a motion to adjurnn. >> We move. >> All in favor? >> I. >> Thank you very much. >> Thank you. >> Thanks. >> All right. Good night, everyone. >> Thanks, Matt. Have a good

night. >> [music]
