one. I'm going to call this meeting to order. After the pledge of allegiance, could everybody please remain standing for a moment of silence for Mr. Vincent Raymond Zenowitz, a former uh Tri Valley teacher who passed away. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, liberty, justice. Thank you. We have a memorial resolution. Whereas Mr. Vincent Raymond Zinowitz served as a staff member of the Tri Valley Central School District. And whereas Mr. Vincent Raymond Zenowitz exemplified extraordinary commitment to the students of the Tri Valley Central School District. And whereas Mr. Vincent Raymond Zinowitz passed away on January 2nd, 2026. Be it resolved that the Tri Valley Central School District extend extends its thanks to Mr. Vincent Raymond Zinowitz for his service and

be it further resolved that the Tri Valley Central School District extends its sympathy to the family of Mr. Vincent Raymond Zenowitz during this time of mourning. Okay. Number two, correspondence. I don't believe we have any. Uh, three, public comment session for items that are on tonight's agenda. I don't believe we have anybody signed up. Superintendence report. Uh, good evening everyone. I just have two quick things tonight. I just want to go through real quick. um as we enter into 26 and we're facing a lot of weather lately, what our process is that we follow in the morning. Um you know, if it's going to be a stormy night, we are on with um three of our highway departments. We talked to Fallsburg, we talked to Clarville and Denning, and we talked to Grahamsville. We also

uh coordinate with our superintendent in the area and and try to uh take a good look at what we're going to do. So, um, if it's not going on that night, we really get started about 4:00 or 4:30 in the morning and again talking to all those groups about how do the roads look and most important for us, our buses hit the road around 6:00 a.m. to get up to the Frost Valley area. And so, we know then quite early on if we aren't able to get those buses out on time that we're going to have to delay. And so, for example, yesterday we did. And then we get back together around 6:30 or so and and take a look again at where things are. And um you know, we know the area well enough

now to know that when you're up in those hills, there's just really not much we can do that's it's going to be safe. And so um again, we're talking to all the superintendent. It really impacts our extracurricular, especially our athletics. Mr. Kudelli is got to get in there and change all the games. And I think yesterday we had Falls coming here. And um so after much back and forth with our teams um you know we all made the decision to close schools. But I just want to reiterate that you know if parents are ever concerned about that process they're welcome to call or email me. And always parents have the right to keep their kids home on those days when they just feel like it's not safe for them to be traveling. The second thing

I just want to talk about tonight is our food service with Witson's. I spent some time going through our contract and was able to flag several areas I was a little concerned with. We've recently reconnected with a food service consultant that was on our campus in December. He spent the day in both the cafeterias. Uh he debriefed with me and then he also met with a cafeteria staff. So I zoomed with him on Tuesday to share the concerns I had found. Um such as um we should be providing uh plastic cups every day for our kids to get water for free. Um there should be varieties of pizza on there. The menus need to be approved by us before they're posted. They need to be posted a month in advance. I know we had an

issue with getting January's out. um they are obligated to fulfill the the order that is on the menu. So if they're serving breakfast pizza, then they need to serve breakfast pizza. We also are looking very carefully to make sure they're serving the the quality of food that we have contracted with them to do. So uh Mr. Bigley did a great job of reaching out to Witson's for me on Wednesday morning with um a whole list of things that we need to get fixed and our their food service manager will be here on campus next Wednesday to meet with me. Um and then we will go through some of those and how we're going to make those improvements. On a proactive note, I was able to secure the USDA afterchool snack grant, which will allow us

to continue to buy snacks, purchase snacks through Witson's, um, which are all reimburseable, so they're basic, they're free for us. Um, and then I've got a few sample menus that we've put together. We're going to be sitting down with our students, our coaches, our extracurricular club people, um, and just to take a look at the menus to make sure those are what they're looking for. There's a lot of fruits and vegetables on there. There's yogurts, there's waters, there's milks, there's juices. Um, and then that will start um as soon as we possibly can. I'm hoping the 26th that we have that off the ground and that will be something else we talk about next week when we meet with Witson's. So, I just wanted you to have just a little overview of those two things.

Thank you. Okay. To presentations, Mr. B and Roth. The introductory budget information. Sorry. Good evening. I just want to give you a little bit of a quick budgetary information just where we're at. It's very early in the process. Um but we want to give you some updates of where we're at. Um so we have some bright spots um that are looking good. Um we've met with all well we've met with all the building principles um facilities technology athletics just looking at the stakeholders of what their needs are if there's any particular needs that they need that are going to be different for next year we looked at that we on a bright note state aid the initial projections have us 213,000 and change over last year's at this point. So, that's a good it's a

good thing that we're looking like we may be getting more state aid, which is always a great thing. Um, so last year at this time, we were still in collective bargaining negotiations for our two biggest unions. Those contracts being settled is very helpful to us. It allows us to move forward. Having set numbers, we do have a third that we reached a tenative agreement on. Um, that's a smaller union in terms of dollar value. um we've met with them and you know we we're pretty close on that and we have a sense of where we're going to be. Um health insurance costs are increasing but they did increase slightly less than we predicted they would increase which is always a good thing. Um so we're just looking we our rates come out for January 1.

So we're we have to guess what they're going to be for the following year, but coming in slightly lower than original does help us for next year what we project. Um some things that we need to watch for. Um so federal funding, grant funding, what's going to happen with that? um we have to really look closely at what we're going to get, if we have to make any adjustments, and we're trying to proactively plan to ensure that we can keep programs that are funded federally if there's cuts with that depending on what's going to happen or if there's increases and that would even be better. Um fuel cost right now as you're getting gas, you know, fuel fuel prices are down with DCM OSIS does our bid. we don't have to accept the bid. They

really, you know, they've been doing this a long time and they look for when they want to go out for bid because it's a oneweek bid. If we're dropping, you know, you may want to wait another couple of weeks or a month, but we also need to get answers. So, we're just waiting for them when they're going to decide to put the bid out. Um, and they have a lot more experience and a lot more charts and graphs than I would have with fuel. So, just waiting on that. But we're hoping for a decrease in energy cost. Um the other thing is the CPI index. So our contract with transportation with rolling V is tied to the CPI. It's actually tied to the May CPI numbers, but you know the consumer price index it went

up 3.4 last year. The last report I saw which was November was 2.7. I think December's might be coming out the next day or two, but it was 2.7. So, we're looking to see, but we don't know what that number is going to be. Um, and as goods and materials, um, you know, we may see pricing increase, but, you know, we're really going to look at where we can try to save money or more efficiently purchase stuff. Um, but we don't know as everybody who's buying things cost of goods are just going up. So that's really where we're at. It's building it, but these are the questions and these are the questions and some of the things that are, you know, that we're using as we're working through the budget. Any questions? Yeah, if I

[clears throat] may. Budget's very dear to me. In reference to the district stakeholders, it mentions your priorities. What are the priorities of the district? So we have a number of different priorities from different so we've looking at the individual buildings continuing programs whether we're adding programs the um the looking for a little more autonomy with some of their budget where they can make some of their choices. uh making sure that we keep all programs as is you know not cutting any programs and then that you know those are are basic on the buildings and ground side there's no major at this point. So if you had to put a percentage on our academics, what percentage would that be of the budget considering your priorities? >> I don't >> specifically academics. >> I don't have that

answer like can get that for you as we get further in. >> Your state aid is 213. That's what you feel you're going to get this year. >> Additional above what we had last year. Yeah. And >> what percent of that is the budget? >> Uh It's 18%. Oh, 213 you're saying or the total state? >> No, 213. >> 213 would be roughly >> 5%ish. >> That much? >> No, sorry. Doing mathematics here. It talked about uh healthc care. We were talking about earlier that it could be up there. What what's your anticipation on percentage? Because I know other areas are talking about it too. The town's talking about it. They even went through a referendum to get that >> extra amount that need put in the budget. >> So, we predicted 10% um across

the board and there's a whole bunch of different healthc care rates and different things, but they went up from 8 8.09 09 I think to 8.9. Um, one of them did go up 26% but it's a small it's Medicare part B. It would it's a small part of the budget for us the money that we went down. Um, but we're probably going to predict somewhere around 14%. I mean just to be safe but I don't know if you know as we work through it you know that number might adjust but that's like kind of a when they came in and did an audit for us on our budget we mentioned our fund balance how much of the of the fund balance do we need to get back to where at least we have where state

allows is to get to how much of that budget is going to have to go to that. >> So what we're trying to working on is operating this year's budget at 92% spending at 92% of our budget which will put us back on track. >> So that will put us up to the 4% that's that's allowable when the >> Yes. I mean that Yes. I mean I within Yes. [clears throat] It's going to be something like right there. We're gonna get there. >> Thank you. You're welcome. Any other questions? >> I just have a quick question. So, we purchased the vehicle last budget year. Is there a significant cost savings by having that vehicle for transportation um purposes? Would we save as far as fuel cost if we purchase another vehicle so that we can

utilize our own internal systems for getting kids to and from? >> So, we're monitoring that. I've been looking at the numbers. Um, we have saved um, I can't give you the right number, but boy, we've made some significant savings. Just going to pick a student up is just a tank of gas. You know, a couple of miles to go pick up a student versus $250 for a bus. So, um, next board meeting, I'll have those numbers kind of to add it up because, uh, Rich and I have been talking about purchasing another school vehicle. We have a lot of folks stepping in to become occasional drivers. And I I think it will eb and flow, but like we've got um two kids going to an FFA um lobby day in Albany with Tara. If we

paid a bus, it'd be a,000 bucks. Instead, she can take the van with the two kids in it and head up there for a half a tank of gas there and back. So, yes, it's really been a a good deal for us to purchase that. >> I just see winter sports. You have ski team, you have wrestling team that they go to practice, two totally different locations, still dealing with the bus occasionally. >> So, we've um all kind of pitched in. We've been doing a lot of commuting over to Fallsburg to drop the the uh wrestling team off as needed. The skiers are a little more difficult because there's I think eight skiers and they've got some equipment. It's hard to pack eight into that van with all their equipment. But just being able to

take um the student over to get to practice on time. We don't have to mess around with waiting for a 3:30 bus. We've got him there when the team shows up so he can get off get out of the van and get right in and get started. Um, that's been really great. >> The expenses associated with transportation, >> but some sort of cost savings over two years. >> Absolutely. Thank you. I see we picked up a number of faculty members that were eligible to both drive those buses. Is there anybody else interested? Are we looking to gain more of them? >> Uh so it's it's open enrollment. People can do that whenever they want. I anticipate in the springtime when our golf season starts that our golf coaches would be interested in getting that occasional

driver because again when you've got you know four four athletes going over or five athletes going over and you can pile the golf bags it's good. You know, the storage in the back is pretty good. We piled all of us in there and uh it's just going to be so more economical and timesaving. So, we knew like springtime was a was trouble for us. We couldn't get a bus till 3:45. Then they've got to get over to the golf course. Now, they got to turn around and get back to get the bus to go home and they're not even getting nine holes in. So, versus leaving here at 3:00, getting over there at 3:15, getting another half hour, 45 minutes into practice is is going to make a big difference for us. I think it

allows us to continue or there are extracurricular at the level we're doing. >> Yeah, I >> we're saving some money by doing that. >> Yeah. And I have to give a shout out to um especially Mrs. Burke and Mrs. Hugler. So, both of them have their 19A license on top of um you know, their coaching and being part of clubs and all of that. And so, they are also pitching in and helping out and taking kids over. We've got, you know, somebody's dropping uh the white bus off with the kids over to Holiday Mountain and dropping them off so they can get their practice in because they wouldn't be able to get to practice till, let's say, 4:35. Um, so they've been fantastic about helping us with that. Um, our work-based learning, so u Mrs.

Hugler's got four or five kids that are off campus every day in internships and again she can just put them in the van and take them versus taking a bus or a white bus and having to pay a driver or somebody from rolling v and their bus. So that's been it's been really beneficial to have that. I think it'd be very uh we need to be proactive in keeping a uh numbers on what we're doing and it would help to answer some of Kianne's questions >> and maybe we want to buy another one sometime. >> Mhm. >> If it's successful and we're saving money. >> I agree. >> Thank you. Okay. Okay. Item number six, items the board wants pulled from tonight's agenda. >> 10 A. >> I'm sorry. 10 A. Okay. Can I get

a motion to accept the consent agenda with the exception of item 10 A? >> Second. >> Thank you, Travis. Any discussion? Okay, please proceed to vote. Okay, that's unanimous. Be it resolved that upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools, the board of education does hereby approve the entire consensus agenda with the exception of 10A categories 8 through 12. Can I get a motion for item 10A on the consent agenda minutes? >> Second by Nicole, discussion. >> Yeah. My question is seems to be that sometimes the minutes are not consistent with what we've been doing in the past. I had some uh things I mentioned during some presentations with the FFA, the FBLA and the track and um you know these organizations like Cricer especially those three are very uh very well do very well

in this school. Some of our athletes are division one school. I mean, little Tri Valley, the FFA is uh maybe fifth in the nation, so is reported and we have a lot of kids in that and enjoying that extracurricular. But my point is sometimes the public needs to hear what this district is doing. We don't get a lot of publication in any newspapers. So, I like to recognize these kids. I like to recognize these extracurricular. I like to recognize everything that goes on in this district to a better degree and a higher degree in what we've been doing and I think that's important because every kid in this school and every every faculty member is important of what they do. So I would like it's it was omitted to what I had to say. Now

if that's what the case is from now on I will do it in the comment section which I don't think it goes well to do it at that time. I think the time to speak is when they're speaking, when they get done, really tell them how much we really appreciate what they do at this school. That's why I bring it up. >> Okay. Any other comments? >> Okay. Um, please proceed to vote by hand. >> I have a question. Are we going to correct it or are we going to vote to have it as it is or are we going to uh hold off and do it correct it? What what's our what's our avenue here? We're just going to forget it. I'd like to hear something from the from the board members here. I

understand what you're saying. The board meeting minutes are the record of meeting. So what George says does hold the comment session at the end. the kids are gone. Feel free to make a comment then really not appropriate. I just think they should always accurately refer to what was said. >> I support I understand what he's saying and I support. >> So you want you you're saying you want um you know like after a presentation and people say thank you, you want those comments reflected under that section. >> We always used to. There was one time it was not done and we talked about it and it was corrected. It it may be I don't know if it's being censored or or what the reason is for it this time. >> Okay. Do you want the

names of the students also included in those minutes? Pardon? >> Do you want the names of the students included? So, um you know, we had the scholar athletes come. We had 50 60 kids that were scholar athletes. Do you want their names mentioned in the minutes? Then they're memorialized as well. You know, I don't know how I feel about that, but the boring publicity each child get, I think it's great. Uh because we don't do them much any place else, but I think that's up to the board to decide if that's what they want. I would like to have what I say at least in the minutes. >> I'm sorry because it is part of the record. I will say I I noticed that the students names who did the presentations weren't in the minute

and um and like you said the scholar athletes I think a list of everyone because all the names were read out loud here >> and if we're going to put our comments in there we should know who we're speaking we will do if if you want to consider approving these minutes and then moving forward. Um because we have no presentations tonight, so you wouldn't see any in the next minutes, but the the next board meeting, we'll have presentations from our administrative team. Um those kind of things, we can capture those comments in that if you'd like to start fresh there or if you want us to go back and redo the minutes, we can do that as well. I would like to have what I said in the minutes at the last meeting. >> Okay,

>> that's what I would care about. Thank you. >> The one thing I know people at home always say is that our audio so just for you other clerks had tape after everything. Can we purchase a uh tape recorder for her? >> We have them. >> You have them? >> Sam might not have passed them along. We have three or four little ones that we usually tape record the meeting. Plus, now that we're videotaped, we can go back. You know, when Norma was was our clerk, she would go back and rewatch the meeting and and take more notes. So, yes. >> So, we'll table the minutes then. Is that what the what the issue is? Pardon? >> I don't table. >> By a show of hands, all in favor of item 10A, the consent agenda

minutes >> to table. to table it. >> It's unanimous. >> Thank you. Okay. Section 12, board committee reports. Uh we had no committee meetings. Item 13, old business. We don't have any items there. Public comment session for items that are not on tonight's agenda. Nobody. Item 15, new business. 15A is a um donation from Miss Nicole Berky. Uh eight reams of white card stock for use in the elementary school. Can I have a motion? >> Thank you, Jerry. Second. Second. >> Carry on. Any discussion? Please proceed to vote. We're not voting on it. Accept it. Yeah, that should be an So, we're going to do a hand vote for this. All in favor of accepting these items. That's unanimous. Be it resolved that upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools, the board of education

does hereby approve the donation of eight reams of white card stock for use in the elementary school donated by Miss Nicole Berky. 15B is the donation of SNRG mascot from I Ready. Can I get a motion to accept this donation? >> So move. >> Thank you, George. Second. >> Second. >> Travis, please proceed to vote by hand. Any uh opposed? Uh oh. Uh unanimous. Be it resolved that upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools, the board of education does hereby approve the donation of SNG mascot from Ire. >> Thank you. Letter to go out. >> Yes. Um, item 15 C is the 2025 2026 school year extension of food service management company contract. Can I have a motion? >> Thank you, Jerry. Second, Pat. Any discussion? >> I have I have a question. >>

Yes. This is a one-year. >> Yes. So, every year is a one-year extension. >> Now, that's an ongoing discussion with them you've had this year or >> Yes, several. >> So, you're happy with what you got now? >> Not necessarily, but food service contracting in this area is really difficult. Um, but we're we've got our thumb on it and I think we're making progress. >> And they've been being paid. >> Yes. >> For this school year. >> Yes. >> Without a contract being signed. >> Um, yes. >> And we've been getting our reimbursements from the state, too. So, um, it's it's logistical and we'll get it right submitted tomorrow to the state. What is the normal contract length between a school district and a food service company? >> So, I think you do a five-year

RFP. So, we're in year three or four of the RFP with them. Um, and then every five years, you go out and you try to rebid another food service company. Got it. Thank you. >> Any other questions? Discussion. Okay. Please proceed to vote by hand. All in favor? Unanimous. Be it resolved that upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools, the board of education does hereby approve the 2025 2026 school year extension of food service management company contract between the Tri Valley Central School District and Witson's Nutrition LLC as attached to the public portion of the agenda. Okay. 15D is uh the nomination of a vice president for the board of education. Can I have a motion? Thank you, Nicole. A second. Thank you, Jerry. Do we have any nominations? >> I'll nominate Travis. I

would like to nominate. >> Okay. Travis and Rose, are you willing to accept these nominations? >> Yes, I'm willing to. >> Travis, >> yes, I accept. >> Thank you. >> Any other nominations? Okay. Um, so at this point we're going to pass out uh ballots. The ballots are as follows. One vote for Rose Woods by Tammy Shabot. One vote for Travis Hartman by George Dean. One vote for Rose Woods by Jerry Stevens. One vote for Travis Hartman by Kerianne Polley. One vote for Rosewoods by Nicole Berky. One vote for Travis Hartman by Travis Hartman. One vote for Rosewoods by Rose Woods. And one vote for Travis Hartman by Pat Kelly. That makes the vote four to four. No, no. Oh, she says >> I didn't I didn't bring And why are you looking up and

while they're doing that. The policy also says when a resignation is done, it cannot only be done verbally. It has to be done by hard copy. I did that and it was not in the minutes. Handed it. I handed it to somebody at the last meeting. Okay. But it wasn't in the minutes. That's why it's so important to get this position filled as quickly as we can. And uh if the board wants to hold off until we uh get that position filled, not put uh superintendent on the spot, >> but I don't see anything about a tiebreaker. So, are you suggesting we wait till we get our new board member and then revote for the vice president? >> What's the policy or what's the law on having a vice president? who would take over in

the place of a case the absence of a president. >> So 2150 is actually filling board vacancies not um >> the bigger question is >> or vice president >> the vice president position resignation was not approved by the board. So, are you telling us that you're still our vice president? >> I'm sorry. >> So, are you saying that you're still technically our vice president? >> If everyone feels that you do not want to put the superintendent on the spot, >> superintendent, >> I would I would delay the retirement or resignation until a vice president is filled >> if that's what the board would like to do. So, what I'm seeing here is the general procedure is that a recount is typically performed to confirm the vote is in fact a tie. Um, and then if

the tie persists, the winner is decided by a random method, most commonly drawing lots such as such as drawing names from a container. >> There's nothing in here about Superintendent George. >> I read some place. Yeah, I swear to God. >> Not in New York State. >> Give me a Bible. >> Not in Sullivan County. [laughter] >> I think the issue I think the issue is the superintendent's reading the policy and she's not reading. >> I'm reading it. >> No. What? Whatever you want to do. Look, if you know if without putting that superintendent on spot, she has to work with everybody. Whatever you want to do. If we never actually voted on George stepping down, George is still our active vice president. I say that we continue with the next section of the meeting

agenda and then we come to an agreement afterwards and we don't at the next correct >> not the next meeting. I I have yours >> if if we have >> somebody to appoint, >> right? >> Probably won't be the next. >> So, our previous president has just indicated that we vote again until somebody's elected. >> Whatever you want to do. Keith, if you're listening, do you have a section of the law that you could share with us so we can verify that information, please going with what Nicole said? Not at all. I spoke to them today about um the board member process. So I could absolutely call them back tomorrow and get the best course of action. >> Is it is it in the book if you took it out? I do think George is

right though that we have to accept his resignation. >> Sorry. >> We never accepted that you were going to resign. So, and it's not on the agenda now and it's too late to add it. So I say we table this conversation and you're it for another month. >> I agree. >> Until the next meeting. >> Correct. >> Okay. >> Make a motion. >> I motion table it. >> Second >> to table the election of a vice president. >> Okay. Motion by Nicole, second by Carrie. All in favor by hand. It's unanimous. Yep. Okay. Um moving on to um 15e, the school board member nomination pro process. um replacing the seat that was recently vacated um by Mr. Keith Striker. >> A motion to open the conversation. >> Do I have a second? >> Second. >>

Thank you, Jerry. um discussion. So according to um policy uh 2150 filling board vacancies in the event of death resignation removal from office or from the school district or refusal to serve as a board member. The district has the power and duty to fill the vacancy. If the board chooses to fill the vacancy by appointment, the appointment requires a majority vote of the full board and shall be only for the term ending with the next annual election of the school district. The board at its own option may instead call special election within 90 days to fill the unexpired term. If not filled by board appointment or special election, the deputy superintendent of the supervisory district may appoint a competent person to fill the vacancy until the next annual election. Alternatively, the commissioner of education may

appoint may excuse me may order a special election for filling a vacancy which such special election is ordered. The vacancy shall not be otherwise filled. A person elected or appointed to fill a vacancy shall take office immediately upon filing the oath of office. A board member who has been removed from office shall be ineligible to appointment or election to any office in the district for a period of one year from the date of such removal. We this is open for discussion. >> Yes. >> There are there has anybody expressed interest yet? >> So we have received uh two uh letters of interest uh via email from uh two community members. Um at this point um in the past we have um appointed the position um through vote of the school board and I I would

suggest that that's how we fill this position. >> I like the idea of appointing somebody but I would put it out and then see who your candidate pool is know. So what what I would suggest is that we accept nominations through Friday, January 16th and then at the January 22nd board meeting, regular meeting, we have any interested parties submit uh come make a presentation to the board and then we would vote on them that night and they would take office >> of the 16th >> 22nd. Travis, >> that's okay. >> The 16th, we would open nominations to the community through the 16th, which would be a week from Friday. >> Got it. >> And then we would invite any uh interested candidates to our board meeting to do a a meet the candidate presentation and

then recommend a board vote from there. >> And then we would still retain the two individual candidates. They don't have to resubmit. Whatever we already have from them would be sufficient. So this just opens up the pool >> to more. >> When I spoke to NISBA this morning, they recommended that would be our best practice. Otherwise, if we go into a special election, it's very costly. We had to do all those advertisements. We have to collect petitions, you know, similar to you would do for the school budget vote when we appoint a new board member. So they recommended as a best practice that we are very transparent, open it up to the committee, encourage anybody that wants to consider participating. >> Is there a statue on the timeline in reference to from the time you

open it up to the public to the time that you close it? I mean, is it a week? Is it two weeks by law that you got to give a people time to submit it? >> There's no timeline. if we went to a special election, we would have to do that within 90 days. Um, I think the thought today was, especially from this attorney I spoke to, is we are going to be digging into budget season and so we're going to really want our focus on our financials and it would be um in our best interest to get our board settled, to get our new board member on, get our board settled so that we continue with our board business. Tonight was a prime example. Four to four. >> Get it filled as quick as

you can. As long as we meet the statue by law. >> Yes. There there's there's no timeline. It up to us. >> Okay. >> Mics are atrocious. Um how long is it was Keith's seat? Is this just to fill for this school year or and then they would have to run in May? in May >> with whoever else is up for um the next three years. So, it's just fulfilled this this year. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And Keith was up um this coming May. >> How long would it take to get on to the website? >> It was me. >> How long? What >> how long would it take to get the posting on the website? >> We can have it first thing tomorrow morning. >> Fantastic. >> And by us doing this with

those dates, we're following uh Robert's rules. was were not violation of anything ourselves. >> No violations. No. I spoke directly to a NISSBA attorney about this this morning. We could put it out um it's it's up to the board. We could definitely put it on our website. We can get it posted on um >> social media. >> If you want it on social media, we could do something on our school Facebook or we could do something, you know, I don't really want to use parent square for that platform. We try to keep that just for communications coming out of the building. Uh, but if you feel like Facebook would be a way to advertise, I could talk to Melanie in the morning about that or we can highlight it like on the front page of

our website. >> I think social media as well because some people will not go to the website or or review it, but people have a tendency to share things that are posted on social media. >> Yeah, sure. We'll put something together and get it on on our Facebook page right away >> just so it's early enough so they can meet that >> really. And all they have to do is just and we'll have that laid out. All they have to do is just send us an email and say I'm interested. And then they have two weeks to prepare to come speak in front of the board >> about the Democrat and the townsman. >> The only the only uh thing we would have to look into is um when they go to print and if

we had missed the deadline, it might it might not make it in there. >> Tuesday. We can look into that if you'd like. for sure. >> I'm only one to nine. Whatever they want to do. I I think the more the marrier. Let the public know that we're looking for people. It may help us along the way to our vote for the budget as well. Get it out there. Your Tri Valley out there. Okay. So, anybody interested in running for the vacant seat, please submit nominate um a letter of intent by Friday, January 16th. It may be emailed to Tammy Shabody, Tammi Ca By at Tri Valley CSD.org, or or mailed to Tammy Shabody, BOE President, Tri Valley Central School District at 34 More Hill Road, Grahamsville, New York and we'll make sure that this

information gets uh publicized >> and tell them what the process is. >> Yes. Yes. Um, at the >> Thursday, January 22nd, Board of Education regular meeting, all uh candidates that have uh submitted a letter of interest will have the opportunity to address the board and a vote will be taken by the board and the new member appointed that evening. item number 16, board comment session. Travis, >> no, I do not have any. >> Nicole, >> I'm all set. >> Kianne, >> I'm good. Jerry Rose, >> sorry guys, I have some comments. Um, question. Where are we at with the architect contract? >> So, the architect contract is back in the hands of the architect. Our our attorney went through and redlined some things and so their attorney is now looking through it. So, hopefully we'll

have something in the next few weeks from them. >> Okay. Um, also I wanted to ask um when a new president is elected, is there a new oath of office that's supposed to occur as well? >> I think so. Yes. >> Okay. >> So, we'll need to do that. >> All right. And then um the only other thing was I was I was glad to hear you bring up wet. It always bothered me that milk and juice came free, but water was something students had to pay for and water is the most important thing that everyone should be drinking. So >> So we are we're looking at some water coolers on top of it. We've been talking with Jesse about the taste of our water in our our water fountains. And it it really is

we have to test our water every day for um our the health department for the DP. And when we do that um you know sometimes there's a treatment that goes in there. It's not harmful but it does have a little bit of an adverse taste and when that's a little bit high when it first gets done um that you can taste it a little more than you can when the when that treatment kind of disintegrates. So we uh Mrs. Everly and I have been looking back and forth at some coolers to have possibly here in the Bear Den and then maybe one um near the cafeteria someplace so kids can go get a an 8 oz or a 10 oz cup and then just go fill their water up. >> I think it's a great

idea. Thank you. >> I just have one more thing. Uh it was just brought to my attention. I do not know a lot about it. I this I did hear about the passing of Lorraine Gance who is apparently uh the teacher here at Tri Valley. Uh if we can just follow up with family. >> Yeah, Mr. Kelly just mentioned that to us earlier. So we'll make sure that gets on for the January 22nd. >> Okay. Thank you so much for that. I appreciate it. >> Yep. >> Uh just two questions. One is I heard that there was a senior trip selection. Is the board going to be brief? Yes. >> And then the other question was you mentioned about water testing. Um years back we did leader testing. Do you know the frequency of letter

was a big do >> I I believe it's yearly. I know Sullivan West just went through a massive audit with their their water testing. >> A lot of times um DO give you schedules at the start of a year and they'll have all kinds of weird some is one in three years one in nine years depending on what um you know what year it is. You let me >> I'll get that. Yes, >> George. snow days. Uh where are we with the amount of snow days we have left? >> We've used three. We have five left. >> And if we max out, what's the intent of the uh district handle that? >> We have a statemandated remote learning plan that we have to submit every year with our district safety plan. So that will be

utilized if necessary. When we get to uh four or three snow days, then I will get with Mr. Haynes and we'll start talking about our plans at the two schools for elementary kids. We are all all of our students have a onetoone device now K through 12. So they can get into a Google classroom and do their work from home. So if we're anticipating that we're going to use all of our snow days, we will have work prepared and then we'll have Google Classroom set up for our kids. So if they have to do remote instruction, they can do that then. So your plan is to have remote >> Yeah, that's what they call it is remote instruction. So >> similar to um whatever we had >> co Yes. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> How

did that work out? >> So because of COVID, we've all learned this Google classroom. So assignments can be put into a a classroom. So I'm a fifth grade teacher. I've got 20 kids in my class. I have a Google classroom. I can upload all of my assignments in there so kids can retrieve them. For our elementary, our younger elementary students, it will most likely be some type of a review packet that they can do physically. Um because we also have to take in consideration if we have um an emergency day because of weather, there's chances that we might not have power. There's chances that some of our homes might not have internet. So, we've got all the criteria laid out as far as attendance and assignments turned in. You know, it can't be punitive because

we really can't control if it's an ice storm and we lose power. We can't ask kids to get online. But, you know, we've got some systems built in place with our remote plan to allow kids time to finish that work without penalty. So financially, we would save how much? By not bringing the kids in? >> Or >> if you're going to do it virtual, they're not coming to school, correct? On a bus, correct? So are we saving money by doing that? >> No, they have to come to school. >> So we're not having it actual like co then >> they did it at home. There will be some schedules where teachers are online and working with their students. Yes, but not to the extent co was. No. >> Okay, that makes me feel better. Thank

you. Another thing I've asked probably three or four times and I was told every time that it's in the state hands with the lawsuit with Fox Gra, but I'm wondering if they're paying what they're supposed to be paying or they're still getting their discount, which the school only said two years, I believe. And I don't get an answer every time I ask. >> The discount is over. They're no longer getting a discount. >> And when did that start? at the end when they were supposed to. My question is they got that for a reason that that discount because they were supposed to do so much. The state somehow got involved and sued them. If there was any recovery, shouldn't we get some recovery back as well? >> They violated the pilot. Yes. >> Correct. So,

shouldn't we apply for that money? >> So, we can't apply for the money until the lawsuit's complete. I I was under an impression it was because it somebody told me it was settled but if you know better >> I don't think it's settled. Our attorney is watching that. So the state attorney general is the one that filed the lawsuit correct against there. >> Correct. >> Mhm. >> So we can still seek damages for the pilot that we we agreed to. >> No, I'm just I want all the money we can get for this district. I believe the lawsuit that was settled it wasn't was not your mic If if all it takes is a phone call to see if we'd get some money, I mean, that's a that's cheap. >> Yeah. >> Thank Okay. I

have nothing for this evening. May I have a motion for adjournment? Mo motion by Carrie, second by Jerry. All in favor, please proceed to vote. That's unanimous. Thank you everybody. Have a good evening.
