Thank you, Mr. Greco. Good evening, everyone. Welcome. Thank you for attending tonight. Uh, we appreciate it. Um, want to start uh tonight we have a nice recognition. We always like
to start with some good news at our uh at our board meetings. Uh, last month we uh officially uh announced our uh valadictorian and saludiatoran for the class of 2026, which is always very exciting. They had a nice opportunity uh to meet with their parents and do some photos and get them ready for their big press tour. Uh so we're excited uh that they're here tonight. Uh Victoria Ferraro is our our validictorian for the class of 2026 and Ethan Chen is our saludiatoran for the class of 2026. So please round of applause for them. I'm going to turn it over to our executive director for curriculum instruction, Caroline Wynens. uh she has a few words that she'd like to say about each of them and then we'll invite them up to uh receive some certificates
from us. Thank you. Our valid Victorian Victoria Ferraro never needs any fanfare about her wins. She is humble, poised, and her drive is fueled from within. She has earned a 108.43 43 weighted average with 17 perfect hundreds on her transcript and completed 14 advanced placement courses. Victoria is a Harvard Book Award winner, NASA County Comproller Math, Accounting, and Finance winner, and president of the math and national honor societies. She spends every summer as a camp counselor and values family commitment and character. Victoria is a reminder that students don't need a gimmick, passion projects, or a spotlight
to excel. True greatness doesn't ask to be noticed. It simply is. Congratulations, Sorry. >> Our saludiatoran, Ethan Chen, is a quiet burst of motivation and dedication. With a 108.12 weighted average, he will graduate having completed 12 advanced placement courses. Ethan serves as president of the Science Honor Society, treasurer of the National Honor Society, and co-leads more than 90 members of the Animal Rights and Recycling Club with which recycles over a 100 gallons of material each week. Outside of his academic and co-curricular achievements, Ethan is especially proud of his development as a track and cross country athlete. What we began as a personal challenge quickly became a defining part of his high school experience. Through consistent training, perseverance, and an unwavering work ethic, Ethan transformed himself into a reli reliable and respected leader on the team.
This dedication culminated in earning the role of captain of the cross country team in his senior year, an honor that reflects not only his athletic growth, but also his character, humility, and commitment to collective success. Congratulations, And congratulations once again to Ethan and Victoria. Really outstanding job. We're super proud of you. Um, I want to introduce a uh a new member of uh the team here in Mont. Um, one of the things that we uh we we uh talked about at our last meeting was uh really bolstering our efforts around the area of uh security and uh safety. And um one of the things I shared at our last meeting, we've uh over the past several years uh we've greatly enhanced our uh the number of security guards that we have in the district and
support staff around the uh area of security. It's been an important area of focus for the board of education and um and we've brought guards on. We used to contract out for security services and we've brought guards on and hired our own employees and we're really at the highest levels of uh security that we've had uh in in the district's history. And we were looking for someone to come in and and to kind of lead that group uh and lead our security initiatives. Uh so we're really excited. We've we've partnered uh with Covert Investigations and we found an outstanding candidate in Brian Hillman. Uh Brian is a 28-year veteran of uh NYPD serving in some high roles as uh various lieutenant roles uh and uh and really comes highly recommended from the work that that
he has done there. So, I wanted to uh to take a a moment tonight to introduce Brian as a member of our team. Brian's here tonight. So, congratulations, Brian. And welcome to the team. Um, just wanted to thank all of our uh during the week was uh school related professionals day. Uh, I wanted to thank all of our uh school related professionals for everything they do. uh often kind of the uh unheralded work uh not necessarily uh uh classroom teachers but doing all the support work our our aids our clericals our custodial staff our bus drivers uh and just take a moment to recognize them. So so thank you to all our school related professionals. Uh a couple updates for me as well. Uh our strategic planning committee met this week. Uh so thank you.
We have a a team of of uh about 30 uh members of that committee. Um they're going to be uh meeting in subcommittees over the the next couple of months. Uh and uh we anticipate kind of wrapping up that work. We're in the process of developing a five-year plan. So probably some point in the spring. Uh we'll be reporting back to the board about some of the uh some of the updated goals. Uh we're going to be doing some survey work of the community. we'll be serving our our students, our staff, and and our families uh to get some feedback about areas that we can certainly improve upon uh across the district. Uh so, please look for that. Uh that work will be done in December and January. Uh and um we're also going to
be incorporating a lot of the work around um the uh portrait of a graduate and New York State Ed's uh blue ribbon commission work. Uh there's going to be some changes in graduation requirements that are coming in the coming years. Uh so we're going to be doing some work around that uh as part of this as well. Uh Mrs. Win's is going to be leading an instructional committee that'll be uh addressing those changes. So all that is uh coming in the over the next several months. Um a couple of updates. Uh we in terms of capital projects, we have some ongoing projects that we're doing throughout uh the district uh to improve our facilities. Uh right now we are in the middle of a very large HVAC and window project. Uh we changed out uh
every uh unit ventilator in every classroom at WA High School and Wah Elementary School over the summer. Uh that work is continuing throughout the uh the school year. We're currently working uh over at Forest Lake and at Mandalay. Uh we're changing out windows there and those classrooms to update those windows and the unit ventilators as well. All of the new HVAC uh work will be uh full heating and air conditioning. Uh so all of our rooms will be uh centrally, you know, climate controlled as well. Uh so all that is is continued. And then we're gearing up for our big project for next summer, which is a renovation of W High School Library. Uh and um current room 151 152. Uh so these are just some of the renderings that we uh are working on
with um uh with our architect. You see a couple pictures of of room 151 152 th those that space is now going to be connected with the library and it's going to serve as a student study area lounge um uh that two different views of that space and then uh some of the renovations that we're anticipating in the library. uh they're going to completely gut that space and and and uh recreate it uh and really make it part of the heart of uh of Wan High School. So, we're really excited about that work. Uh and and that once again, that'll be this coming summer and summer of uh uh 2026. Um and then, uh lastly for me tonight, um update on Beach Street. Uh we are that's the property that is the Wii Friends building.
uh we're still in process of of of um it's still on the market, still working to uh to uh work with uh some potential buyers to sell that property. So, just really not much of an update there, but just wanted to let you know that's still in the works. Um and then one other item for me tonight as well. Um we're um I guess not really saying goodbye to but a longtime member of our staff um that does a lot of behind thescenes work around here um to support our technology staff um has done just an outstanding job in the past five years that he has been here. Uh we got word uh recently that he is receiving a promotion. We partner with uh NASA Boseis to provide technology support uh throughout the district and
we have an outstanding member of our our staff for the past many years that has led that way. Um works tirelessly uh to say the least. Uh he is always there when you need him what whatever technology emergency you may be having. Uh he's there. And that's uh Jordan Lee. Jordan is is hiding right now uh behind that screen. I'm going to make him very uncomfortable and have him come out from behind that screen uh just to be acknowledged by everyone because he is truly outstanding. Um Jordan is uh is is being promoted at NASA Bosei. So we're still going to be working with him. He's going to be supporting multiple districts. He's going to be working in their knock over there to uh to really do even more high level work than than he's
doing. But uh he's been such a great asset to us. So, uh, we just want to wish Jordan all the best and and thank him for his dedicated service to us. Um, oh, just a reminder, too, uh, our meeting next month is, uh, December 4th in just two weeks. Uh, it's a 7:00 start time in lie of our normal 8:00 start time. So, just bringing that to everyone's attention. And from myself and the administrative staff and board of education, I just wanted to wish everyone uh, an outstanding Thanksgiving uh, and a great holiday with their their family and friends. With that, I'll turn it back over to Mr. Greco. >> Thank you, Mr. Mcman. Item D, approval of minutes. Do I have a motion? >> Second. >> All in favor? >> Item E, financials. Do

And my name is Caitlyn Donghue. Since our first meeting, we have had many successful events take place. First, our Heroes Among Us Club held a veterans food drive earlier this month. We have had a great turnout and all donations were distributed to local veterans. Another event we have had in the high school is our letters of gratitude for teachers event run by the National English Honor Society. Students have written letters to teachers of their choice expressing their gratitude for all the hard work they put into making the classroom a fun and supportive environment. >> This week, student government is holding our annual Thanksgiving food drive. Each class decorated a donation box that has been placed in the main lobby. We incorporated this drive into our battle of the classes event at the end of the
year, which you will see is a common thing we do with all of our events. The food drive ends tomorrow, but we have already had such an amazing turnout with all four boxes almost being filled to the top. On Monday, student government will be making family packages with the donations that will be distributed to families in need in WA so that everyone in our community can enjoy a warm meal this Thanksgiving. As the fall sports sorry as the fall sports season has come to an end, we are glad to say that the Warriors have had a successful season. Most notably, our girls volleyball team made it to the county semi-finals and the football team will be playing in the NASA county championship against Beth Page this Saturday, looking to become back-to-back NASA county champions. This
week marked the start of winter sports and we can't wait to see all the success of our teams have this season. >> Looking ahead, next Tuesday, November 25th, we have our annual senior variety show, which is truly such a fun event. The night is filled with fun games like family feud and pie eating contests. We have live performances from student le bands. And we have video segments like carpal karaoke with teachers and the crowd favorite the teacher mean tweets where students anonymously submit school appropriate mean tweets to teachers and we record their reactions. We would like to say thank you to Miss Stewart for organizing the event year after year and Mr. Ailas for working all of the mics and sound systems needed for the night. It costs $10 to attend, but all the proceeds
will be going directly back to the senior class. So, we highly encourage all seniors and all teachers to come at 700 p.m. next Tuesday. >> Thank you. And we hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving. >> Good evening everyone. Uh, so October 24th was our Halloween bash, uh, which was free for students. Uh, it's always nice seeing all the students running around in their Halloween costumes. Uh, the 7th was our annual Islanders game night. Uh, wasn't their best performance, but everyone had a great time regardless, and the kids all love being able to go on the ice for the group picture. Uh, Monday the 10th, we welcomed uh, veteran family members of students to join them for a bagel breakfast. After the breakfast, the veterans were invited to the lobby where the whole school paraded
past them and left them with artwork and signs of gratitude. Uh many of the veterans stayed after the parade to go to classrooms and used a guided questionnaire to talk about their experiences. Uh it was a really nice event. It was definitely exceeded our expectations. Uh and we had a lot of really positive feedback about it as well. We will be doing it next year. Uh we also had a flag sponsorship for Veterans Day in which we sold flags with personalized cards on them. Uh the person sponsoring the flag was able to add a note to honor the veteran of their choice or with a general thank you message. Uh they were then displayed in front of the school. Uh we brought in $325 from this and all of it is being donated to Mission
United which is a Long Island based veteran charity. Uh this past Monday and Tuesday was our annual holiday fair. Uh the kids really look forward to being able to purchase holiday gifts and as always they had a lot of great options to choose from. We also held our peaches with the principal event on Tuesday night. Uh there was milk and cookies. Mr. Burke, Red Forth to the Snowman to the children. Uh, and there were musical performances by some of them as well. Uh, I couldn't be there, but I heard wonderful things. We also just wrapped up uh, collecting non-perishable food for our annual Thanksgiving harvest. Uh, the items have been separated into equal parts, including stop and shop gift cards uh, purchased with cash donations. Everything will be delivered to the school tomorrow for the
families to pick up anytime before Thanksgiving. Uh, our fifth grade is currently selling Forester blankets. They are super soft and warm. Uh the one we have at home is already a favorite in my house. Uh the fifth grade is also having their skateathon on December 4th at United Skates. This year's theme is the Grinch. Uh we are also planning a principal for the day fundraiser uh coming soon. We will be selling raffle tickets and one of the students will be picked to shadow Mr. Burke for part of the day. Uh they will help with the morning announcements, help at morning program and have lunch with them as well. Uh and December is a quieter month for us so we will not be having a PTA meeting. So our next meeting will be on January 12th.
Thank you. >> Thank you. >> I just wanted to thank you guys for the uh veterans breakfast. It was really It was out. I got a chance to stop by. I think the vets got as much out of it as our kids, but really really great experience for our kids. So, thank you. >> Manderlay PTA. >> Hi. The Mandandalay PTA has been very busy trying to create fun indoor and outdoor recess time for the kids. We asked all the teachers this year to create wish lists for their classes so that the kids could so that the parents can provide activities for the kids on those cold, rainy, and snowy days when they are stuck inside instead of just being on their Chromebooks. We purchased stencils for outside that will help provide different games for the
kids on the concrete and for a wall ball on the on the wall. We just ordered a gaga pit for the outside as well. Our big goal for this year is to replace the wood chips on the playground with a safer material like rubber or turf. At this time, we have about $11,000 set aside for it, and we are hoping to have many more successful future fundraisers to put towards this goal. We had a successful first fall crawl this past Friday where it gave parents opportunities to meet each other and to support local businesses in Wanto. The bake sale on election day was a huge success and we almost sold out of everything. The Islanders game with Forest Lake was a blast. The kids always loved getting the chance to go on the ice to
take that picture. We are looking forward to our holiday celebration where we provide treats for the kids and games in the lobby to get excited for the winter break. And we hope that everyone just has a happy Thanksgiving. >> Thank you. >> Want to >> Hi, I'm Melissa Hansen, PTA council. Um, we had our fall fundraiser which was very successful this year. We raised over $6,100. We also had our fifth grade election bake sale on November 4th where we raised $3,200. We also had our doctor recess assembly on November 5th. The kids had a great time. They learned a lot of things they could do during recess. Um, this past Saturday, November 15th, we had our annual turkey trot around Wanto in the back. We also had programs for all kids that had um sports
activities for the kids after the turkey trot and the kids had a lot of fun with that. We also have our holiday fair for students the week of December 18th. We also have our fifth grade clothing drive on December 9th from 400 p.m. to 7:30 in the WL cafeteria. We are also collecting um donations for decorations for the Jonathan Theon Foundation. We have a drop off box located in the lobby at Wanto L. We also don't have a PTA meeting in December, but we have one January 12th. Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> 612, >> SEPTA, PTA council booster, sports booster, I should say. Hi, I'm Allison Burn. I'm reporting for the booster club. Booster memberships so far are at about60 which includes parents, staff, and faculty. Our membership is
ongoing. We have set up a givebacks account um website which has been an easy transition this year and has already provided us with a great way to capture sales. it is easier for the parents and the faculty and we are using this for wantaware memberships and uh an upcoming fundraiser of lawn signs. Financially, the booster club is doing well. Our merchandise sales are doing uh very well and have we have a lot of great designs. We are getting the online store ready for Werewear uh which will be another scholarship fundraiser. Um the lawn signs which I mentioned and for the lawn signs will be for all sports and can be personalized. The basketball tournament is coming up in the beginning of December and that is about all we have right now, but thank you for
your continued support. >> Thank you. >> Uh performing arts booster club. >> They couldn't be here, but they uh had uh emailed us uh their report. Uh a couple things.
