on the right. >> All right, we will call the meeting to order at 602. If everyone could rise for the pledge, please. Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all. >> So we'll just do the minutes and then you want to do that. Okay, we have a consent agenda on minutes uh 2.4. Can I get a motion? >> Thank you, Justin. >> Thanks, Dan. Any discussion? All those in favor? >> I opposed. Motion is carried. Moving into business operations. We have a consent agenda covering 31 through 373-8. Can I get a motion? >> Thank you, Lori. >> Second. >> Thank you, Justin. Discussion. All those in favor? >> I >> opposed. Motion is carried.

I'm going to turn it over to Superintendent Abby. >> All right. Yeah. To get us started, we have some some of our students that we're going to be recognizing here this evening. So to get us started, we're going to have Miss Taylor Cohen, and she's going to give us a little background information about the wonderful accomplishments that Seth Bridge has been taking part in recently. >> All right. Thank you. Um, so yeah, our one of our students in our music department, Seth Bridge, he's a junior. Um, last May he participated in something called the NISMA Solo Festival. Um, so NISMA, it stands for New York State School of Music Association. So, it's kind of every school that has a music department in the state of New York, you are luminisma. And it offers amazing opportunities

for um students and teachers as well. And one of those being the solo festival that he participated in in May. He received a 99 on an allstate level solo, which is a huge accomplishment. We're very proud of him. That qualified him for something called area allstate. So, that is um NISMA's broken into zones. So, we're in zone 4. So that's Onidita County, Herkimer County, and Asiggo County. Um, all schools that had kids that qualified participated in instrumental ensembles or in Seth's case, coral ensembles for area all state. That was at Central Valley Academy back in November. Um, and then this past weekend, um, he participated in NISMA Conference All State. So that is all of those students in all of those zones um in the entire state that come together in Rochester Thursday through Sunday

and they have a long weekend of learning many many things having amazing opportunities with wonderful conductors singing making new friends and yeah and I know Seth can attest to this. He had an amazing experience. He's raved about it to all the students trying to get more students involved in opportunities like this. So it's really great and we're very proud of Seth and his accomplishments musically. We uh the board has a certificate for Seth and I'll just read it here. Uh in recognition of his exceptional musical talent and commitment demonstrated by his prestigious selection for the New York State School Music Association Conference Allstate Mix Chorus. This distinguished honor reflects the highest level of musical excellence. I would like to present this to Seth. >> Okay. I would just like to see him sing. >> Yeah.

I would like to to add I've known Seth since >> kindergarten and he has always been very talented especially in music and performance and it's just a really great honor. Welld deserved. Looking forward >> I was going to say looking forward to seeing him in the musical. So >> which we got to get back. >> Thank you. Thank you. Congratulations. Great job. Thank you very much. Congratulations. Next up, we'll bring Mr. Tom Gford. All right, Steve. >> All right. Well, everyone, thanks for having me here tonight. Um, generally year in and year out, um, I present the, um, accolades from each sport season. Um, and I'm going to talk a little bit with, uh, some records that were broken, some accolades, some all-stars um, per sport. I'll try to go as quick as I can.

I'm trying to cover, you know, four or five sports here. Um but um very proud to know that you know we very successful um with a lot of our athletes and how well they did in some of our teams. Um so just starting out with girls soccer um we had two allstars this year. Natalie Kilts um eighth grade keeper. So uh looks like we're going to be pretty safe in the goal for a while. Um Natalie actually broke uh two records this year. uh one of which was uh the total amount of saves in a season um which was 372 um previously set by Jules Eisenet last year at 348 saves. Um Natalie also set the school record in games uh saves in a in a game at 38 which last year was set by

Jules Eisen at 37 and that record was set against Sequo this year which is a school rival. So, um, all in all for the girls soccer team, it was a tough season. Um, we did have a very, very young team. Um, but at the same set, we, uh, we did very well in our tournament. Uh, very competitive. Um, played very well in both games. Um, I believe we had a third place finish, uh, in the tournament. Um, also, we were all we were a scholar athlete team at a 94.89 average, which is New York State Public High School Athletic Association, 90 or above. and we had 13 athletes on the team that met that criteria. So, that was really, really good. Um, boys varsity soccer, two all-stars, Wilmer Mario at forward and Braden Decker, a

goalie, both seniors. Uh, an honorable mention, Joey Hutchings, who was a a varsity football player at point, wanted decided decided to make a big goal at soccer and was the first season all honorable mention for varsity soccer team this year. Um, this team again was very competitive. We were uh we had a very very tough competitive tournament this year in Brothertown. Optimus tournament playing Richfield to uh the 000 tie and then we actually uh played Madison. We lost in penalty kicks uh in the consolation game uh which went in overtime uh actually one of the longest games in section three this year uh in penalty kicks. Uh very optimistic going forward. We do have a very promising young young team uh at modified level this year. We had uh undefeated season uh which I'm very

proud to say that you know going forward we're going to be uh that much stronger next year going into the varsity level. Um Braden Decker had 203 saves on the season with a 809 save percentage which I believe was number one in section three. Um we were not a scholar athlete team but we were very close. We had an 89.81 average with six individual scholar athletes through NISVA. Um the varsity football uh this is our third year with the eightman football program. Very very successful this year. Uh we were 4-1 in the league, 8-2 overall record. Uh we made it to the semifinals playing uh against Morrisville. We did lose that game. Uh but they were the eventual New York State uh eight-man uh champion. Uh we fielded a total of 18 players um which

we lost only three to graduation which is uh really sound going into next year. I feel very very good about going into next year. Um couple highlights. We had a huge win against West Canada this year 2622. Ryland Stanton had an 82 yard kickoff return. They went the distance to seal a victory against a very tough West Canada team which I felt going into playoffs was a huge win uh in a difference between playing at home and or away. Um and also a very exciting game which was our senior night. Um it was a game against Sequo Valley our cross town rival 50 to 48 win in front of our home crowd um with a game with many exciting plays uh coming down to the wire. Uh, and we also had a first sectional win

in eightman versus South Lewis. Um, two players that were selected to the senior all-star game, James Sullivan and Noah Beckwith. And we had many personal best this year. I could read off a ton. Um actually I received a lot of the criteria um this past week uh which also was in high school sports stats but just to name a few Ian Carney personal best completed uh 117 uh had a 774 for 12870 passing yards at 57% completion rate. He also rushed for over a thousand,000 yards. Uh Ethan Kimble 480 yards. key in Maine 512 yards which was he was a very key player that we lost a couple games prior to sectionals. Um Ryland Stanton over 760 yards, 20.5 yards per catch and 12 touchdowns. Ryan Moher, we also host Hamilton um had 16 receptions

for 28 yards and Bryson Kels almost 200 yards receiving. Um, we had four individual scholar athletes that had a 90 or above uh for the varsity football team. Game day cheer, competition cheer, we normally done game day cheer. Uh, the difference is game day cheer will cheer on Friday nights. Um, and competition cheer will cheer on uh, Saturday afternoons local invitationals or some that are out in the Syracuse Rochester region. Um, this team was full of pep and spirit this year. They were a huge factor in all of our games. Uh getting our crowd going with all their cheers and very helpful in getting our crowd up for very big games that I felt was a huge contributor for us to go on to the to the sectional round. Um our competition cheer team won

our first trophy um in some time in a long time. Uh we won at Mexico which is also called Battle of the Dead. Um we were competitive at Ariskany which we also took third at the Ariskany invite. Uh, coach Glazier also set up a secondyear powder puff game on a Sunday evening which was also benefit for breast cancer awareness. Um, we also had five athletes that were a 90 or above from NISA outdoor girls and boys cross country team. Actually before I get to that yeah um small team we did not have uh many. We had five, I believe, competitors on the um on the team. Danny Castelli, one being the senior select all-star. Um before I get to Danny and recognize Danny for a lot of his accolades, uh we also had on the

team Archie Jones, Ethan Barnes, Leila Barnes, and Avery Jones. um all at one point which they received their personal bests uh for outstanding achievement at one point or another at all the meets. Um we are here for a very special reason as well. Um we have had two athletes this year that have a letter of intent to sign a team roster to go to um select schools. Katie Barton uh which did not compete in the fall sport this year but of the last two of the last week we've signed or Katie is going to uh Stone Stone Hill which is out by Boston 20 minutes from the city of Boston and Danny Cassatelli today signing team uh letter of intent for team roster at Stonybrook. Um Danny I I know this sounds old. I did

recognize today Danny in school, but I also want to recognize him tonight uh with some of his outstanding accolades that he's had this year um going forward heading towards Stonybrook. Uh we are very lucky. Uh we've uh had outstanding coaching uh along the way. Uh Andy Ford came in a few years ago along with Scott Baker and Tom Travisani. Um, but we've been very fortunate to have Danny as far as an athlete grades 9 through 12 compete at the varsity level. A lot of people did not know Danny did not compete and modified in the cross country level ranks. He at one point was considering football, did a lot of thinking and I think he obviously made the right decision. He went to cross country and he's a two-time New York State cross country runner

in the New York State cross country championships at Queensbury, New York. Uh this year he took second in the New York State uh championships out of 124 runners with an impressive time of 15 minutes 42 seconds or 40 154240. Uh this marks his second consecutive year at that level. Um further solidifying his reputation as one of the top runners in New York State. Um at some of his biggest competitive invitationals, we try to challenge Danny at his best. um knowing some of the local invitationals, he probably would have won uh e very easily, but we wanted to challenge him at best. He consistently proved himself as one of the top runners uh in the area. The Baldwinville Invitational, he won first place in a small school division of 281 athletes, seventh overall at the meet

out of 47579 competitors. He was fifth place finish in the Burnt Hills meet at 594 competitors at that meet alone. Uh coach Ford didn't mention that there was over 9,000 competitors and he was in the best division. So you can only imagine 9,000 competitors and Danny placing fifth in the top of all those runners which is completely amazing um to say the least. uh at the McUade Invitational, which is the premier race in New York State. Uh he placed 28th out of 218 runners, again, dealing with thousands of runners. Uh this specific invitational uh is nationwide and we have runners that come out of California uh the Dakotas all the way across the nation to uh Rochester, New York to compete in this one loan invitational which is one of the best. Um and as

as said it's the premier race. Um he also uh took first in the VBS Invitational out of 129 runners. the center state conference run. He took first. Not only that, he broke the uh the center state conference record out of 118 runners. Um and he also in the class D sectionals at Mel Markham finished first in section three out of 159 runners and fourth overall out of 529 runners. So that for herself, Danny has signed to go to Stony Brook University in New York or on Long Island Northshore about 60 miles east of New York City. Um I cannot say enough about this guy. Uh I'm going to miss you completely. Uh Danny is also has a great sense of humor um with not only his team but his peers u and he runs freely.

He's a great spirit and I wish you nothing but the best of luck. So with that, we'd like to recognize you tonight >> with a certificate. >> Yeah, I'll read it here. Daniel Casatelli in recognition of his outstanding athletic performance, dedication, and skill culminating in the section 3 varsity boys cross country class D championship and an impressive second place finish at the New York State Class D cross country championships. His commitment and perseverance serve as an inspiration to the entire school community. I would also add Danny at one point was a soccer player >> and we tried to convince him to become a soccer player. >> He's a great runner. Known him forever. We always used to say when he was little, he should probably be a runner. Like he's really fast. >> Yeah. >>

Congratulations. >> Very excited. >> Um I don't know. Great. >> They say get degrees, >> Right. >> That's coming from the audience side. Okay. >> Thank you. You guys don't have to stay. Thank you very much. >> I told you it'd be in the beginning. Pete told you. >> Thank you very much. Thank you. >> Thanks, G. >> Thank you, Chris. >> Well, that was the fun part of the meeting. >> Yeah. >> So, got all all the fun out. I think it's fun, but I don't know if everyone else does, but obviously obviously very nice to to be able to honor some of our students for some pretty impressive accomplishments that they've >> very much so. Yep. >> Very very much so. Um, so as far as my perspective, some things that have been

going on as of late. Um, later on in the meeting, you'll see that it's up for the SPO contract is up for approval, which, you know, technically we've been operating with SPOS's at Memorial Park Elementary School. like they've been there every single day, but the contracts tend to lag a little bit from from the county. So, there's no real concern there. But, I did want to bring that up now because we've actually had Officer Perty who has been every single day from the beginning of the year, which is not what they're normally supposed to do. Usually, they work a number of days on and then a number of days off, but they were a little bit they were working on a transition and bringing trying to bring in someone new. And in the meantime, he

was being more dedicated than he already is and really was coming every single day. And that was above and beyond what was the normal expectation for him. So, we've thanked him numerous times for being consistent on that with us because it's really more than he expected to take on with that role, but he he has been great. So, we are now welcoming officer John Gaspa, who is now with us as well. Um, and as Chris and I just talked, we're going to make sure that we put something out to the public so that people know like here are the faces that are that are here protecting, you know, our school down at NPS and we want to make sure that people are aware of who they are. But he's been a great transition so far.

He seems very happy to be here and and is excited to to be in water. So, we've been really glad to have him. A lot of a lot of my time recently has honestly been with Cynthia. We've been preparing for like preliminary budget discussions and a lot of our we've been setting as much time aside as we possibly can to make sure that that we're going through things in more detail. Um and we like just yesterday we went through the um the appropriate status detail and that was a really good experience. Like you see the same things in the treasures report every meeting. But to sit down and have that line by line conversation was really helpful in putting us into a good perspective as far as where we're looking to go. Do we have

things budgeted out to the different areas correctly? Are there things that maybe should be increased? Are there things that maybe should shift? So, so that was a really good experience for us to really start to be able to dive in. Now that we've moved past that whole audit procedure, now we can put our focus and our extra time into this preliminary planning so that we can be prepared to bring these things to you with the appropriate information so that you can be a part of helping make those decisions for the following school year. um some different areas that like special attention that we're paying attention as we're looking through that. You know, you got to keep in mind you've got you've got certain curricular areas that have a lot of consumables. So there, you know,

you got to take that into account and especially as we keep looking at all these increases in prices when we're talking about programs like art and we're talking about family and consumer science and we're talking about technology classrooms. These are things that use materials regularly to enhance their instruction and as those costs go up, we can't just leave the same budgeted line item for 10 years straight as we see like large increases on all these items. So those are things that we have to have those in-depth conversations and then just the idea of how we've been doing things um and how we've been gaining that information from both teachers and from building administrators. and we've been talking about shifting that a little bit um and maybe conducting our needs assessments a little bit differently and

especially with a little bit more of a schedule in mind and that's bigger than just curricular but a perfect example is like our textbook funs like I talked to Merry about that recently and as of late I think we just come together and everyone kind of put out well this is what I would like and this is what I would like but then well is it your year is it not your year. So, we want to start creating schedules for textbook money, for equipment, for technology reimbursements, for furniture within the district. it it seems that we haven't necessarily had those schedules and if we can get those more defined then we can plan out better and know this year we're going to be focused on this particular item with this much money as opposed to

conducting a needs assessment in any given year and then saying like oh wow we need all of that and why did it all come in this year so if we can be more proactive in those decisions and having those structures in place so that's where our conversations are right now. And that's what we're trying to get ready and prepared so then we can go out and have those conversations and be ready to come back with more of those facts and more of those procedures in place. And then obviously I didn't I didn't mention this part of it, but the other element of that that we got to take into account is just our staffing and our programming. You know, we have to have those conversations now so we see what classes we're offering currently, what

programs we're offering currently. Are those what we want to continue with into next school year? Are we looking to add anywhere? And what does that do for our staffing? And do we need to make long-term plans? And we want to start looking at how many years do some of our staff have remaining so that we can start creating those plans because obviously it's not easy to hire in this day and age. And certain areas in education are harder than others. So, we want to have a handle on how long do we think we're going to have people in these different areas so that we can be proactive in our thoughts about making sure that we're filling these positions in a timely manner and making sure that we're getting people the quality level of instructors that

we're looking for. And all of that is really intertwined. It's they're big conversations. They're important conversations. We I feel like we've been able to start having those and that we just talked tonight and we we laid out some some timelines over the next week of some other things that we want to be doing. So hopefully this can lead to some better information for all of you. And one of the other areas that that we talked about earlier in the year was we have our audit committee and we had discussed the potential of kind of joining that as a finance committee as well. And that's a conversation I'd like to reopen with all of you as well because we some of the things that we've talked about as you go through them and you start having

that dialogue and that discussion you start having a much better understanding of the process and I my understanding is that's what everybody's really been kind of asking for. So but I don't know how we replicate that on a larger scale like at at an open meeting. So, I think that that would be a great area that if we revisit that, maybe that would be an area that we'd be able to dive in deeper and have those conversations. So, then we could deliver it out with, you know, we want to make sure that we're being transparent with all of it. But to have those long indepth and have the ability to ask those questions and find out more information for me, it's been very eye openening and helping me understand the process better. And I think

that could have that same impact with all of you. you want to carry on something similar things too. >> Um so on the um that idea I came up with a report for you and I gave it to you in print the first time because I wanted to explain it before I gave it. This is going to be a every month um report and it kind of ties in those treasury reports that you've been receiving the appropriation and the revenue and it shows you on here month by month what we've been expending and then below it what we received in revenue for the month and then what is our plus or minus depending on which month you're looking at and then the overall. Um, so I think this is a a good way for you

to tie out what those reports mean rather than just looking at them and they run from 71 and you know the beginning beginning of the school year to whatever month I'm giving you. Whereas this you can actually see the expenses by month where those you're going to get accumulative. Um, so I gave them to you ahead of time so that you have a month to digest the report before I send you the next one. you can come up with questions or maybe ideas that you'd like to see something different or um but I thought it was a a good report that you guys probably needed to to have to better understand where we're at per in the month in the year. Um so then um the next item I have is we received our first

projection of state aid from Quest Arbosis who works with state aid and state ed on on everything and this is our first projection of three. So this will be our first one. Then we'll get the the executive one from the governor and then the final one from the legislature in April hopefully. and um they're projecting flat foundation aid for us for next year, which I don't think at this point is any surprise. Um and we're holdless, so they can't give us less than what they gave us before. Um Deck and I have been meeting together to gather the information necessary to prepare the bud budget presentation as he spoke to you about. Um I on the going back to this report. So and I don't know I spoke to Zach about this today. So there

might usually when you present a budget it's based on what the state gives you. This is your foundation aid. This is your Bosey's aid um your building aids. But then when you receive the money you don't receive it that way. You receive it based on the state revenue. So you get lottery, you get um excess cost, you get aid um VLT, uh your Boseies aid is the same name. It's the only one that is. So I thought maybe next month I would explain to you how we tie out that budget of what we receive, right? They tell you your projection. This is what you're going to get and then how I then tie that out to my revenues at the end of the year. So you can see or this is what they promised us

and this is how we receive that money. So that that would be a good >> information for you to have before we go into budget. >> Um >> that was that was really eye opening for me as she laid that out because it was like you >> when you're not >> yeah when you're not thinking about those details you think oh well this is your aid so you get that right. Well, it doesn't necessarily just all come in at once and it doesn't come in in how you would even expect it to, right? >> And that was like going through that discussion and then looking at this, I thought it was really interesting, too, because then we had that discussion. I was like, oh, at this point in the year then when I look at

this sheet, we're going to look like we're in the hole. Like that's what it's going to look like. Like we're spending money obviously, but the money hasn't come in yet. So, it was interesting to see. Well, we're not. And why are we not? Well, because of when our taxes came in and that's what has allowed us to not be in the hole for this period throughout the year. So all that like for me personally really kind of tied it together. So I think it will be helpful >> because our our state aid really doesn't start flowing >> good until se January until exactly and um so we have some excess tax dollars right now and I put them into our nightclass so that we can get some good interest off of them until we need

those monies. So, >> right. >> Um, >> Jesse and I attended the school business conference in Saratoga for three days in November. It was very informative and we met a lot of uh other business officials and treasurers. Um, got a lot of good information and we brought some ideas back to the district. Um, I'm working with our long-term financial advisor right now. I've sent him our audit reports, our ST3 and our current budget information. um when I spoke to him and and we did the contract, he said he would be happy to come in and explain the process to you. Um so I thought maybe I'm going to reach out and see if he can come and and present at our January board meeting. Um and I think that's it. That's what I have. Does

anybody have questions or >> No, this will be useful. Appreciate it more about that. Except we have our principles. >> Yeah. Start with Miss Crystal. >> Crystal is Kurt tonight. >> Um, as as Mr. Officer and he lives here. What a great fit, what a great asset to the building. Um, just some quick highlights from November. What a great focus on students and student. I'm starting the month with Christ speaking. It was amazing seeing our our future leaders from MPS get up and present. Lots of smiles and lots to recognize that night. Thanks to the student council for the high school for for hosting the harvest dance. It was amazing seeing all the kids get dressed up and really had a great night. It was lots of smiles again. Um thanks so much to Jody

Thomas to Katie for the student council for hosting our MPS veteran state program. It was a great morningation was incredible. The kids were all involved and it was just an amazing to our local veterans. So, special thanks to the staff coordinating that that special event. Um, I did include the percentage rates for our teacher conferences. We were at roughly 88% participation for parent conferences which is a solid percentage and for those parents that weren't able to come on attempting to do so. That is at the time of this report. I also included um some attendance data as well as discipline data. Um and again I don't know if there's future or further questions on that. These are data that I do continue to also share at the faculty meetings just so the faculty is understanding

that we are paying attention to attendance and obviously discipline as well to address any questions specific to that. We will be distributing our first investor report cards this week and also Thursday night recognizing our musicians. >> Uh we are and getting ready for prog too. So that is be uploaded tomorrow night post another athletic check for us. Um I've provided the data since then just update uh Uh basketball's down to one, not two correction there for somebody turn in their card. Um also volleyball that one's also too. So we look at the overall thing. I don't have a comparison because when we did a comparison over the summer, we looked at our fall sports. So I can't give you a direct comparison, but anecdotally this is way back it's been in a long time. Uh

when we do the prior reports uh this week, so we're Um Thursday we'll do another update stuff like that. I'll share that. So we'll have the updated eligibility and stuff there. That final column there is after the two weeks. So after they had chance to uh up their grade, get their car signed and some of it is student responsibility. But the first week kids come I mean I announce it. I met with each kid individually. I'm like if you just came in week one I'm sure you're passing the first week of the market period. But if you don't take care of your part now, you put the pressure on yourself for week two, you know, and for some, you know, it's a hard lesson and, you know, a tough lesson, but it's something, you know,

you know, kids kind of have to learn. So, I'll be more happy to answer on that. Um, I also included data. So, the basically getting us to the first market period for the first three months, I compared it to last year. One of the things I put a note in there for me to explain interesting on the data When I look at the seniors, you can see I like the seniors is lower than before. But as I do in trying to pull data and pulling out Kevin from the different sources the way school tool draws out data and I get the percentage is absent whether it's not wheable to data it's showing them as absent when we send data to state they're not absent from the state. So our percentages here appear lower but we

do state it will be higher on those things like you know kids are going to talked about like going to like they go to the county every Wednesday for like four weeks in a row. It's it's showing them in one report they come up absent like this is it right? Then I went and found another report and I can see when it is or out but it's not can't draw it out. So so there think of these we are a little bit higher than what's truly there when we go report out to the state but that's one of the things we've been doing like u you know we send tennis letters out every month we are meeting with it. I think the other struggle with the senior some of our senior is high because I

had to make the decision do I get ded on the attendance while I'm trying to carry a couple kids through that we're trying to pick up so like you know kid has 20 days you know having meetings I have a couple kids I would everything in my power to keep them in school to graduate so it's really hurting us on the attendance end but I'd rather take the hit there and give it their chance to graduate So, you know, that's kind of like judgment call that I make. So, so just so you're up front on that, we'll continue to monitor that. Uh, really good faculty meeting today as Mr. Abby here. But, you know, we're starting to focus on MTSS and what it is and really showing like how we can start improving things, what

things we're already doing because that's what we'll be working on. We address the new graduation standards. So we talked about uh uh New York State Inspires trying to build that um initial understanding of it and we're still solved in limbo. I mean I think once we have some time I'm sure Mr. I will do a full presentation for you. A lot of it is. But two of the things that we are most likely going to definitely happen coming up. Uh still wait for approval at the board uh the board regent level. The final approval is financial literacy is going to have to start next September. And climate change is going to have to be done. We look at some of our stuff. We already have a lot of that embedded in already that we're going

to be okay. We're talking about beefing up a lot of stuff, especially that financial literacy. You know, in my fact, Dave talked about what's the difference between a 50year mortgage and a 30-year mortgage. And when you these kids are coming out thinking, oh, 50 years, it'll be great. You know, like I said, a $300,000 mortgage, you're paying $500,000 interest. You go to 50 year, you're paying over a million, you know, and you're only saving $300 a month. Get a part time job, you know, type of thing, you know. you know, so and really doing that stuff. So, Mr. Abby has met with vers Source and they're trying to get involved a lot of schools and stuff. So, we're really gonna build up that literacy. >> Um, we had the junior high concert, the winter last

week, senior high concert hopefully will be tomorrow. >> Do we have a do we have a makeup date if it doesn't go on or not? >> I don't think we have a schedule at this point, >> but actually um uh Taylor and I talked about that. I think if we had to with NPS going on Thursday, I think our goal would be look at possibly something like Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I think he to push it late in the week. So, we're going to try to come up with a date and have that run that by Mr. But that's my rough like earlier in the week next week than maybe >> hopefully we won't have to. >> Yeah, fingers crossed. I mean, we can get >> you may have to have to Um

uh we're doing some spirit stuff, you know, some um you know, community building stuff with that. Couple things that uh took away from we talked about the conference at our student club and some of the things that they brought back. So the first thing we did on Wednesdays in December, we're doing wellness Wednesday. So they're getting on giving out a wellness trait, explaining it. It's displayed in our lobby for kids to see on the slide sharing stuff. uh to kick off uh holiday week, which we're we're doing a hot chocolate this Friday for kids and to start off the spirit week. Another thing that we um are going to do, I get the correct term something Monday. They're going to kill me for that moment, but uh a thing on Monday mornings of welcoming kids

in the building start the day the week and we're going to start it as soon as we get back from break. We talked about meeting today. So on first Monday back was going to do it. So like a big rah rah re coming in and then the next week student council and they were asking different clubs and stuff to sign up for different times to take a Monday. So like the week of the show have people from the show there on Monday doing it to kind of advertise what they're doing. We a sports team can take a Monday stuff like that just to kind of like get people started for the week. One of the things that they came back with in uh doing that uh we recognized Danny and Seth tonight. Uh couple few

other things. Um we brought four two got sick four ended up going uh to Saba. So Saba is uh basically our school business alliance that we work with Boseis. It's the Bosei service that we contract with. Uh our seniors go out and shadow different businesses in the fall. Our juniors have the opportunity to go into the spring. We brought four seniors and they had their resume and they all set tables of areas of interest with different business leaders in the community that asked questions for them to share what they're looking for employees and different things. So, uh we had one person in law, one person in business, one person medical, one person education. So, we all spent Mr. Abby and I went and spent the morning uh with all these business leaders and a big

breakfast and then talking about uh what's it like the work what things are looking for. So that was very nice to see appreciate that. Um lastly on the 19th we have our fall pepper will be 9th period but we're also trying to do something different on the 19th. Um one of the things I think is really important or one of the things I think is kind of lost sometimes in the building the 712 is kids lose their middle school experience. So many times those seventh and eighth graders are an afterthought to everything in the high school. All right. Having been impressed with the middle school and in the high school, you know, two completely different beasts and we're trying to go back to preserving some of that middle school opportunities that you get. You know,

middle school is a great thing. You stay touch really fun, you know, curriculum, you can really dive into it. So, with student counsel on for how to incorporate in the afternoon after lunch, we're going to pull all seven of the graders out for an activity afternoon that's just going to be them. classes. So, we're going to do Mr. Franklin and are going to do anal thing and talk about self a lesson on self-regulation, breathing. They're going to make something that's going to help them do breathing, different things like that. We're going to do like some STEM challenges and puzzle activities. So, team building things. They'll all be on different team. We're going to do water drill trivia. Um, and then, you know, they're going to do their own thing. And then we're let the high

school is going to do the pep rally and stuff like that. So, they'll have that after. We're going to really try to do something just middle school and see how it goes and then do that again like after state testing again giving that chance to build that with their own class structure. >> Thank you. >> Correct. They just kind of get get lost. >> Just to piggyback on that that student council Um I spoke with the adviserss and they're they're going to have a group of representatives come to hopefully January. If not can't make January work then February and come present to all of you as far as their experience. One to thank you for supporting that but two just to make sure everyone realizes like how in depth that process really is and how

impactful on those students. >> Thank you. >> Lots of good stuff. Our student representatives are not here tonight because they are also hoping that concert happens tomorrow. They're both at mandatory rehearsals this evening. So, it's my Okay, we are already up to board discussion if we don't have any committee reports. No, we actually have a few coming up, but not since our last meeting that we have something. >> Any items for board discussion? >> Cool. >> Just add one. >> You waited so long. You baited me. >> Baited. >> I just had a couple people who the last night last two people just specific control where things got last night. >> Appreciate that. >> Yeah. Yeah. And the visibility has been great comments on it too. just seeing administrators present superintendent also but very visible

very engaged it's helping evolve the culture let's say I don't want to say change but like evolve the culture even further which has been great so yeah and I'd say after each game we kind of debrief a little bit too and we talk about different ideas and and different thoughts and and just today got some things coming >> even going forward to continue to just continue to try to improve that culture And I give credit to the kids that I told them that last night that have you know like you know working on they did take the bait and what I was so close Mr. I said I know you weren't very good at that you know but that's what we're working on you know we're going to do it we're going to do positive

or we're not going to do the thing. So I think they're starting to these conversations at lunchtime. We have these things that evolution. Yeah. Great. Any public comment? Yes. >> Just put my hat on as Optimus Club president. I know a number of us from the club enjoyed the 152nd Optimus prize speaking. >> Yes. >> That was here. It was outstanding. It was great. a number of the younger students who mustered up the courage and got up there and uh hopefully we'll come back again. It's as near as we can tell, it's the longest one in the country that keeps going continuously that hasn't morphed into speech and debate club or United Nations or something else contin. >> It was really fun to hear your the historical background you gave of it too. Like that

was that was really enjoyable to hear those details. got the idea that yeah, they did it in 2025, but this goes back to 1870. And every year there's a dozen or 10 kids who say, I'll do it, and it just keeps it going. >> Thank you. All right, we will move into old business. Looks like we have uh approval of policy third reading 7-1. Can I get a motion? >> Thank you, Lord. Thanks, Kate. Very quiet. Any discussion? Okay. All those in favor? >> Oppose? Motion is carried. Uh, new business personnel 81. >> Thanks, Dan. Thanks, Justin. Any discussion? I'm very excited about the evolution of Mr. Basquez. I know we talked about this in the agenda planning meeting, but just wanted to say publicly it's it's great to see that we were able to

bring somebody on board that hadn't quite finished all the certifications and the long-term sub role who is now moving into a more permanent position. You know, I think that speaks to what administration's doing to support our educators that need a little development. Everyone needs development, but the ones that need a little development, you know, it was great to see. I've heard nothing but good things from my seventh grade Spanish. So, >> and others. That's great. Lots of good stuff in here. Anything else? >> Okay. All those in favor? >> Opposed. Motion is carried. Moving into new business. Uh, another consent agenda covering 91 through 94. Can I get a motion for 95? >> Thank you, Justin. Thanks, Tim. Discussion, >> lots of good stuff. Very excited about the building and ground supervisor, the maintenance supervisor.

>> We don't want to get into anything confidential, but it's it's very encouraging to see. We had a strong pool. I know the district had a thorough interview process after vetting candidates. Lots of competitive candidates. really good process and very excited to bring uh someone with a quarter century experience that's local >> on board. So I don't know if you want to say anything else. >> Yeah, I echo exactly what you said. Like it was a it was a really strong candidate pool with a lot of really great interviews, some very capable people, really happy person that we've selected and it was a unanimous decision. And to see someone with the pride in what they've been doing and to have done it in one location for that period of time, that type of dedication, and

now to bring that here is really exciting, really promising. Yeah, I agree. I just think and it's interesting when you contrast that against, you know, I mentioned with our Spanish people hire, whatever you want to call it, change in title for Mr. Vasquez where we're doing both where we're sourcing really experienced candidates you know especially for roles that in the past have been problematic in different ways and then we're also bringing on young talent that we're able to support and develop and you know I know you know Tim has mentioned that multiple times like we know the way the pool of applicants is we are going to get a lot of newer younger teachers in many cases or or new to role people changing careers and we have to be a district that really develops

people and it's just great to see us doing both where we're attracting both types of candidates. So, I appreciate administration, everybody on the hiring committee, uh, Superintendent Abby for the work we're doing here. It's this is this is what's going to help our district be really great. Really great is the people. So, it's awesome. Anything else on 95? All those in favor? I oppose. Motion is carried. And here we are at public comment. Again, this is very different for you, Patty. We don't have like two hours between public comments, right? >> Except that when I came in, it's snowing really hard out there. >> Really hard. >> Visibility is >> very, very small. Space. Yeah. Don't need to make a decision for quite a few hours today. >> Any other board questions? Okay. Uh, do

we have a need for executive session? I don't feel so. >> Okay. Can I get a motion to adjourn at 6:55 p.m. >> Tim? Thank you. >> Second from Kate. Uh, all those in favor? >> I. Meetings adjourned at 6:55. Thank you.
