everyone um this week is board of education recognition week for those that were not in attendance of during the 6pm portion of our meeting earlier tonight we held a recognition ceremony for our trustees again i'd like to reiterate on behalf of our all of our employees on behalf of our students i thank you each and every one of you trustees for your time and service and dedication to our schools to our community and most importantly to our students okay so as previously shared at uh board of education meetings we are obligated in accordance to new york states to coordinate for weekly testing of employees who are not vaccinated we have shared information um with our employees with regards to multiple locations for where our employees can fulfill this requirement i just wanted to share because
i did receive two questions on this that we have not utilized any district funding to fulfill this new york state requirement for employee testing some districts i am aware have utilized either grant or budget funding in our case in west babylon we have not our employer our employees utilize their own insurance or they attend the designated suffolk county sites that do not require insurance information for the weekly testing i also yesterday i received a couple of questions um so i figured i would just highlight it here with regards to some uh junior high school trip to hawaii uh please be advised that this is not um the school district was not aware that a memo with regards to an outside organization for um trip for the strip for students was distributed this is not a
school district endorsed trip nor is it an authorized trip so of course we have i thank those parents that reached out to me last night we were able to reach out to the person directly and address that a big thank you to our ptas for helping us kick off red ribbon week this week the kickoff ceremonies went really well the buildings looked fantastic so again thank you to all of our ptas that were actively involved with regards to our ribbon week we have a lot of activities a lot plans throughout this week in all seven of our buildings fyi tuesday november 2nd is general election day right so our district is a polling site voting is taking place at all of our schools except for tucker and south bay so just you know i mentioned
that because again parking you know may be an issue during our last board of education meeting um there was a statement that was made with regards to various topics that i would like to just address so that all would be are aware of and this information was provided to the individual however just in case anyone had the same question i wanted to highlight it during my statements uh one question uh that was raised was regards specifically the legal firm ingram and smith um and the school district please be aware that actually ingram and smith is a firm that our school district utilizes for labor law meaning matters of employees such as addressing employee discipline through section 3020 or through section 78 for negotiating contracts all other legal matters are part of our general counsel you
know meaning specifically general counsel to the board or counsel to administration on student matters or in special education uh situations those are provided by van nostrand martin this information is on our annual reorganization meeting um that occurs every july during our last board meeting there was also a resident who had questions with regards to um you know specifically asking if there were any communications with the board with regards to federal grants that are available to school district the following information was already provided to the residents that had the questions but again as an fyi i'm sharing them during today's meeting for anyone that you know had not either viewed or seen any of the meetings from april to now so that everyone could be aware so when we were first made aware that school districts
were eligible to apply for federal grant funding to address um needs that arose from the covet 19 pandemic our school district immediately began planning and communicating and seeking input conversations and input meetings began back in the spring so throughout the spring during our public budget presentations at all of the public board meetings in the spring during our pta meetings during our admin meetings mrs cerakus mr payne and i shared our district preliminary plans to apply for these federal grants to address learning loss to address safety to address mental health needs of our children so throughout that process input was requested and incorporated in the planning and the development of the student programs for how we would be utilizing these federal grants in addition there were formal public board meetings that were held by myself and
mr payne on june 22nd on august 17 on september 29th please note that there are definitely other public board meetings in which grants were discussed these are only ones that i quickly kind of did a quick search on definitely all of the budget presentations included a couple of slides of the federal grants we also mr payne and i also have two separate input meetings right parent meetings and employee meetings in which parents in attendance were very grateful for the programs that we were offering and offered their input and suggestions the entire outline of our expenditures has been posted on a school district website for months really since the summer early summer you can access it by visiting our website clicking on resources and clicking on the very first link that says 21-23 federal grants so
just to summarize so that everyone is aware right of what we've been talking about at all these meetings with regards to the use of these federal grants so we applied to utilize these grants um for summer school programs right we're definitely two years hopeful for three years right um this past summer was the first summer that we were able to offer this specific summer program the purpose of that summer program was to address academic gaps address students social emotional mental health needs the this summer again it was a wonderful elementary program really well attended we had camp eagle you know social opportunities for our students and we also created a summer school secondary program for students that needed to obtain credits in courses that they didn't complete we also as part of the grants we've
talked about a lot right the social emotional mental health supports again we hired we offered additional psychological supports for families in need we hired additional social workers and a junior high school sixth grade guidance counselor actually as the board knows i shared with the board that we'll be doing a mental health um you know presentation update right just to share with the board in our community what we've been doing since the summer to support our students mental health needs after-school academic supports for students are also part of this grant funded the use of these grants right we are finalizing opportunities for students after school again our families know that you received emails from us you received the survey information for that and that um is actually about to start shortly um in the next couple
of days again our parents are well aware of those and same thing also after school social emotional um supports right with new um enrichment programs new club offerings actually our students helped us select you know which clubs to offer um in the various different buildings so that information also um has gone out and there were definitely other miscellaneous areas such as disinfecting materials for classrooms you know additional student desks and things on those lines so as you can see again just for everyone that has not been in any of those meetings there's been quite a process quite a transparent collaborative extensive communication process with regards to how the district what the district applied for to utilize these grants for our children dr family yeah sure pre-k universal pre-k was part of one of the grants
uh no that was a separate grant yes it was a federal grant yeah a separate grant so that actually came through in terms of one of our state lines right um and that's a great point we this year have five pre-k classes um at our elementary that we were able to to offer as well you know um so yes great point there mrs campesano our next board of education meeting is scheduled for november 9th oh i just mentioned this i have invited mrs carcio and mr mack to join us to provide an overview of our mental health supports and let's see where am i on a final note we're looking forward to seeing everyone at this weekend's homecoming events to all of our students enjoy the red ribbon activities and programs that are scheduled throughout
the week and all the halloween festivities on friday and of course have a happy and safe halloween this weekend for all of our students so that's all i have for this section of the agenda mrs campesano thank you dr farrelly we have no statements the wbta and the wbaa both made statements earlier right so back to you oh okay so this is just a quick i wanted to just highlight right um in terms of a couple of areas on our website uh let's see so i think i'll just you want to switch it over thank you so much joey okay all right so basically i mean this is our you know main website right and we're constantly referring everyone in terms of to different resources you know that we have on our website so i
really just wanted to take a quick moment to highlight um a couple things right so on our left right we have our quick links all of our board of education meeting dates right we set those our board of education sets those nice and early right so those are always immediately updated right here under quick links right so you just click on that and it'll bring you to that our district emergency response plan is there for docs right that is the area where when you click on it then you can access our agenda our minutes right all that information is there of course our code of conduct information with regards to transportation our chain of communication with all the administrators their phone numbers and their email address can be found right here it can also be

go here right this is the database that um you know is updated with regards to um you know any positive pieces that that we have um of course you know obviously there's the staff links right but there's information here in terms of for our families uh our guidance plan is is noted there right who our dignity act uh coordinators are noted there so you're really just a wealth of information um we have a lot of links here also for our families right so specifically like you know sex offender information right then that brings you directly over to our the megan's law um which you can pull up and you can enter in you know our zip code right and gather information with regards to sex offenders um our curriculum we really again have a wealth
of information here you go into you know our curriculum maps right um and that is there that's there by grade again this is all not new right this is information that has been on our website and just every year continues to be updated as updated as updates are are necessary so i just wanted to take a quick moment to share that of course our calendar is right um that really again we put a lot of information there in the hopes of helping you know families being able to really kind of retrieve information at the tip of their you know fingers right when they go on to our website if you have any suggestions by the way and additional information to add to our website or suggestion of placement please do not hesitate to reach out
our trustees know you know i've had different family members different people trustees have made different suggestions of locations or things to put up there and we will immediately um you know do so we want to make sure that we get the information out there so that's all i had mrs campus and i just wanted to highlight that and on the bottom of this which for some reason um i don't know if i can do this here let me say no not happening but on the bottom of course it does show oh there we go our parent portal links right um athletics information as well which i know our athletics their department is working on our virtual backpacks right so any information that from the town right town fall festivals you know halloween this or kind
of things along those lines we put them into our virtual backpacks and of course our facebook and twitter page in which we you know through out there and send out information i mean this this week i put out a whole bunch of pictures from red ribbon ceremonies right um where we push information out um in particular pictures and different things with regards to our students so i just wanted to highlight those main aspects of our website thank you dr family i need a motion to adopt policy eight one one zero john all those in favor that's it okay i need a motion to wave the reading and move policy four zero zero zero to second time discussion the cross references zero one zero five which i protested the policy that's reference to that policy which
i felt was needed more information on it i like more so there's a motion on the table to table it i need a second kathy all those in favor that's matt and kathy and john all those opposed that's five opposed motion failed okay okay so now i need the motion to move it to second time discussion whose motion first second i'll second it or diane seconded all those in favor opposed that's not being killed right and and we will we moving it to second time discussion you can discuss it the next time okay first time reading policy eight three three zero i need a motion to wave the reading and move it to second time discussion p second matt all those in favor it looks like everybody policy 8505 i need a motion to waive
the reading and move it to second time discussion pete kathy all those in favor that's everyone no old business no new business at this time residents wishing to share a statement should come forward to the microphone state you name your address and and any organization you may be representing at the meeting or write their name and address on an index card provided and presented to mr hanley or mr payne our assistant superintendents prior to giving this statement residents who pose questions will be provided with the name of the appropriate person on the chain of communications to contact thank you are you coming up to speak okay yeah i see them yep okay okay good evening um your name my name is sean farrish i think we know that but it's okay yes but someone in
the i don't know against mike i'm just knowing i'm just playing i'm just hello and i'm playing back they might not know you're you are um all right so i'm here to uh once again touch on the diversity equity and inclusion framework which we were told is not critical race theory um and we were told that uh this was back on august 17th uh that the anti-police rhetoric that was in the diversity equity and inclusion framework on page two would not be making it into the curriculum here in west babylon i do have some red flags and alarm bells and i do have paperwork and documentation that i will submit to the board from some of these sources so it's very it's interesting i do hope you read it and give it give it some
consideration um with regards to a recent foil uh july 2021 tracy edwards uh trained the west babylon administrative staff on diversity equity and inclusion and she did throw see she did so through boces now here it is on the new york state boces website diversity equity and inclusion uh right here on the front page of that website the framework brings together multiple national tragedies which highlight the need for this call to action boces of new york state recognizes that the senseless killings of black and brown people by law enforcement violence toward asian-americans and pacific islanders hateful racist comments of discrimination have no place in education it's right here so they're being trained in boces on boces website says that dei ca and the very first thing that it mentions in dei is anti-police rhetoric so
i think there's an explanation due there i'm not accusing anybody of being distruthful i'm i'm accusing or at least saying that potentially this is slipping through the cracks and it's not something that should be taught to kids here okay we don't hate the police i don't care what side of the aisle we're on we do not hate the police okay plain and simple and if anybody in this building and in this in this staff wants to teach anti-police rhetoric that's disgusting and it should be and it should be addressed and i think i think i have the the majority of the board's uh approval on that i also have uh from the most recent diversity equity and inclusion training from boces itself we were told again that dei is not critical race theory well the
first presenter in the dei trainings here at eastern so eastern suffolk i know it's not western suffolk where we go but it's boces as posted as boces critical race theory in schools today a mini presentation from professor allen singer of hofstra university this professor is not just somebody who simply believes in critical race theory he advocates for it i have two articles one of the articles is one that he read to this boces training that took place regarding diversity equity and inclusion i will go into that article right now to bring note and bring light remember you have three minutes i will remember and i'm trying to fly you're almost there i believe the public attacks on critical race theory including in school board meetings or a right-wing response to challenges about police that's him
who's training the administrative staffs across long island he has repeatedly tried to discredit thomas jefferson in articles written as recently as june that last article that i cited from was from october 6 2021 this man is training administrators across long island in diversity equity and inclusion curriculum which we're told is not critical race theory the final thing that i have here is panorama education where we hear about sel social emotional learning and your time is up can you just give us the information if you'd be kind enough to give it to me so that i could read it and share it with the board can i get 30 seconds i promise 30 seconds okay you got it get me on the clock that's it all right scl and equity we're told that scl and dei
and crt are different things right here in panorama education's paperwork right here in their documentation it does say uh in black and white scl and equity are not two sides of the same coin they're both on the side of the same coin and a contributor to panorama education is in here citing from cnn npr nbc and people magazine and is quoted as calling bill de blasio an upstander and a leader she is the one contributing to the trainings in school districts across long island i will give you all of this it's a lot to read through and believe it or not i'll be very very happy to go through this and explain the connections because it's something that can't be done in three minutes but i will give you everything and thank you for the
time thank you anyone else thank you no john send it down and i can have barbara make copies for us good evening april and marisco 448 15th street um i understand that kathy hotchell has signed in legislation that requires documents that are to be made available upon requests or posted on the website 24 hours prior to the meeting uh where would we find this i didn't want to interrupt you when you were going through your little computer thing but where would we find any type of information that's actually from the state i'm so i'm sorry well kathy hotchell had mentioned that anything that she had signed into legislation that requires documents that are to be made available upon request or posted on a website 24 hours prior to that meeting where would if we find
those on our website okay four dots what is being referenced is any document that's represented here so in board docs all of the attachments everything is there okay okay uh now on to a very more important matter um the fda has approval of the vaccine today hodgle has already stated in a press conference that she wants this offered um in schools or at least in the immediate vicinity are you going to be allowing the state to establish these sites in or around our schools are you going to be sending the children home with permission slips it's a very important question that we need to know thank you for that statement we'll get back to you someone will get back to you hopefully it's not with just uh sending home a permission slip with the children
someone will get back to you anyone else it's okay good evening each board member has been duly informed about strings attached to the cover funds each board member has been dually informed about can you please speak into the microphone yeah i'm sorry i'm going to try and read through this as quickly as possible and we all know how that plays out right exactly all right good evening each board member has been duly informed about strings attached to covet funds each board member has been duly informed about the hostile curriculum making our students into activists has the board looked into the strings attached to the covet funds will you return these funds and refuse further funds from the crssa arp ess er and gear the board members of the west babylon school district needed the decision
to reject joining a lawsuit filed failed to file their own lawsuit and has therefore forfeited the taxpayers local control of our schools and our interests of our children to the state health department and the federal government each board member has been provided documentation with substantiating evidence providing that new york state is manipulating our schools into being part of a national public health workforce under directives of hhs in addition these funds also impact the influence local control of our curriculum as evidenced by the new york state 2018 document titled cultural culturally responsive sustaining educational framework you are willfully willfully implying a hostile curriculum understand that each of you has a voluntary signed away our local control without our permission and participating in the existence of the state-created danger where injury results from the creation of substantially
dangerous environment by state actors who knew about the danger and the opportunity for injury would not have existed but for the exercise of governmental authority creating that opportunity be it known that this is a legal president and each board member will be held accountable individually for their participation in this injury to our community lucy capizano and i apologize if i slaughter anybody's last name uh president dianne klein vice president kathy gerstmervick second vice president matthew amore trustee ray downey trustee john evola trustee christopher pelle galileo trustee peter pete i'm sorry i can't pronounce your last name properly trustee and kristin at this time please be advised that your behavior constitutes deliberate indifference as school officials you are obligated to uphold federal constitutional and statutory rights of others at this time our local rights civil rights
and constitutional rights are being violated the immunity that protects board members jennifer wrap it up because your time is up okay the immunity that protects board members doesn't cover everything and your deliberate indifference is an area of concern at this time myself and numerous members of the district feel threatened by your actions anyone else any more statements you were no no no she was next i'm sorry just our district clerk just has a question okay kelly flint 906 10th street in west avon um first my statement i want to make is um doing the masks optional was very disturbing to me because you what you're basically saying masks optional only because it's um there's no educational activity going on i didn't know covid was so smart to only attack when you're learning so that really
is you're dehumanizing our children you're making them very subordinate it's very disturbing that you are okay doing that to children but you guys are standing up here with no masks just want to say that [Music] so are you being ill-advised by your counsel it definitely might be time to consider outside counsel and not one of the dominant firms here on long island at the end of the day each of your names is signing off on these policies it has come to our attention that various board of ed members in suffolk and nasa fear that they will be targeted for speaking up and not complying with whatever the superintendent or lawyer is saying to do the burden is on you to follow through on your fiduciary duties you cannot rely on the law firm and the
superintendent again your signatures are on the policies budgets grants and applications in light of the nsba who have called us parents domestic terrorists we want west babylon school district to openly announce this comment do you wish to do so now the national school board association has retracted their comment publicly yet we have not heard from our board members it has also come to light that the president of the nsba has been given a position a position in the biden administration we are demanding that west babylon school district no longer pay fees or dues to the nsba it has also been brought to our attention that the superintendent in plain edge has publicly said the following to the parents he is supposed to work for community needs to trust in us the professionals that all teachers
and administrators are making decisions with the students best interests in the center at the center of them children spend more time here many times than they than they even do inside their homes we educate our students to be learners and thinkers and global citizens let's be clear right here and right now as parents we have been taken advantage of simply because we love our children the public system has now become an overreaching arm of government you created the length of the school day not us you created the length of the school year not us you forced compliance with medical mandates not us you adopted curriculum to force a new generation of global citizens not us this is where it will end this system is corrupted beyond repair i am afraid for my child's civil rights
we won't live in fear any longer we will find a way thank you for your statement anyone else okay my name is stacey saltzer and i'm a 411 babylon can you speak into the microphone sorry um i have a lot of concerns after the eau passed the um the fda for five to 11 year olds vaccines i have a lot of reservations my mother took the vaccine and died as a complication i have a five-year-old at home every day that said she misses her nana so i really hope that the board considers that if you mandate and follow this stupid state and hot chills goals to force a vaccine on our children that you will be killing our children it's killing adults 14 to 17 000 people have died they don't count deaths after a
certain point my mother died three to four days after the vaccine of the first shot put her in the hospital with double pneumonia she winded up on a freaking ventilator after that they sent her to a rehab that forced a vaccine that she declined twice she died three to four days later from heart failure she had no heart issues her lungs were gone because she had double pneumonia and it destroyed them and she never had covet so please before you think about mandating a vaccine and even enforcing it on your employees think about all the people that died and that are handicapped and disabled we are entrusting our faith with our children with you and we are already disappointed with our governors i really hope you can make better decisions for our children than our
state governors thank you thank you and i'm very sorry about your mother i'm sure that you guys do not mandate this vaccine for our children to attend school since you mandate so many vaccines and also i really don't agree with the masks i think it's detrimental to our children especially our special ed children who are delayed speech delayed like my daughter she's in special ed she has a learning disability she has 80 days she is gets all these services and on top of it now she has emotional distress and she hates school at five years old thank you for your statement again sorry about your mother um this is the last statement we've already overrun our time sorry mallor thank you for letting me speak um i wasn't planning on speaking and my kids don't
go to the school anymore but i love it's west babylon we moved from queens and i care about everybody's children their their kids and my kids your kids and my kids i love them all um i'm just getting disturbed about all of these um curriculums was one of my priorities on my list but the the mac the colon vaccine possible like being forced on our children is is really concerning to me because i have experienced a lot of people that i know had adverse reactions to this particular vaccine which is actually an mrna gene therapy but i um won't get into that i'm not a doctor but i do know that my doctor told me that by being vaccinated you may prevent yourself from getting a severe adverse reaction from the virus if you've got
covid and you might prevent yourself from dying and that's maybe um it does not uh this whole um discrimination and segregation and being made to disclose with a card your vaccine status is creating a severe divide and hate in our country in addition to all the crt so um i just really hope that you will take into consideration that our children are not to be um experimented with this i don't care if the fda approved it it's too new it's not proven children have died from they've gotten seizures they've gotten mitochondria oh now i can't say it somebody help me with that word but on the heart issues um severe reactions to it adults have as well um it's sad that our youth has to be subjected to this uh at this time i know
in my heart this is a bio weapon to get the digital id that's my heart's uh um it's in my soul what i think that they're doing because the vaccine passports are just on their way to us now so but god gave us great immunity and if we just promote vitamin d zinc quercetin selenium and healthy diet and exercise i think our children would just be 100 fine and if they got the virus i don't believe that they would you know be dying from it it's a 99 or 98.9 percent recovery so just if you would consider not mandating the vaccine for our children i would greatly appreciate that thank you so much i need a motion to adjourn keep tapping all those in favor that's everyone thank you ladies and gentlemen
