001anticipated session. So, we're going to move right into our tenure appointment. I'm sure you guys So, we're gonna do this a little different for their building. Couldn't even script that better. Good evening everyone. My name is Scott Dresler and I have the honor and privilege of being a first year principal at Williamson Elementary School. One of the things that I do have the honor to do tonight is to recommend tenure for some staff in Williamson. And I just want to acknowledge that hiring staff in the educational field is one of the strongest things you can do for students, children, and a community. And thank you, Ellen Saxby, because every person that I am recommending tenure for. I did not have the privilege to hire them. You did. So, thank you for that. And it's my
002honor to talk about privilege and our staff here tonight. So, in full recognition of embarrassing everybody, because I'm sure people don't like to be talked about, but it needs to happen because I like to celebrate. If I could have Caitlyn Cape, please come up. I think she might be coming. I saw her in the cafeteria. Oh, there she is. Okay. Dylan France, please come up if you could stand up here. Becky's not here. Katie Sensenbach, if you could please come up. and Jay Craft, Jessica Craft, if you could come up. So, while you're standing up here feeling proud because I am, I'm going to talk about the people that are not here. So, the first person I'm recommending tenure for is Jodie Barnes. So, Jodie Barnes is an experienced educator and master teacher who successfully
003transitioned into her preschool role and is now being recommended for that tenure area. She maintains high expectations for instruction and has high classroom structure while also creating a warm, engaging, and highly organized learning environment. Her students thrive. Her classroom runs like a welloiled machine, fostering independence through center-based learning and an opening a love of learning for her students like none other. Our students are incredibly fortunate to have Miss Barnes as their teacher. So, I'm recommending Jodie Barnes for tenure. Rebecca Knights Fchett is a teaching assistant. So Becky has demonstrated consistent effectiveness in supporting students with diverse and complex needs, particularly within our 611 setting this year. She addresses variability in our student learning with her heart and soul. Some of what she does definitely beyond goes beyond the school day and supports families with wraparound
004care. She builds strong student relationships, actively supports instruction, and contributes positively to the learning environment. Her patience and understanding of student variability is topnotch, and it's very proud to recommend tenure for Becky Price. Now, for the people that are here today, knowing these individuals for 10 months has been absolutely amazing. It is so great to be part of the Williamson community. And Caitlyn Capezy is this year in second grade. Caitlyn has consistently demonstrated strong instructional practice and leadership as a classroom teacher. Her lessons are explicitly taught, purposeful, and aligned to standards while also creating meaningful meaningful connections with students. She facilitates student-led discussions and conversations while maintaining strong classroom structure, order, and progress towarding toward her learning targets. She serves as a grade level leader, contributes to multiple committees and extracurricular opportunities, and has been
005a strong team member across many grade levels. She also is very punctual and comes every single day with a smile. And if you see her in the hallway, she will light up with a huge smile. So, I'm recommending tenure for Caitlyn Capzy. Our next person, Mr. France, Dylan France. You see that smile? I get to see it, too. because he makes connections with his students. So, he's demonstrated dedication, adaptability, and effectiveness across multiple grade levels as well. He creates engaging learning environments and understands that strong connections and relationships are foundations to strong instruction. You build relationships that foster trust, encourage risktaking, and support student growth. You contribute through your curriculum work and professional learning while also actively supporting the school community as a whole. Your consistent attendance, thank you, is very much supported to help
006create a consistent classroom structure. So, I'm recommending tenure for Del Grants. Katie Sensenbach, teaching assistant. You have demonstrated versatility and dedication while supporting students across our whole school and community. You play an integral role in not only preschool through fourth grade initiatives, but every opportunity you have, you bring in other students into our school community. You are a huge part of our positive behavioral support team. You have an amazing ability to build relationships with students and you are always willing to say, "What can I do?" You're a huge part of our pause team while you also support our multi-tered systems of support. Your collaboration, flexibility, and consistent attendance support many of the roles that you fulfill within our school. So, I'm recommending tenure for Katie Sensenbach. Jessica Craft, JC Craft, if you will, assistant principal
007extraordinaire. So, you consistently demonstrate strong leadership as an assistant principal, supporting instructional improvement, daily operations, and student management. This year, you've successfully adapted to an expanded role, supporting student services, helping to develop systems and consistency around the 504 process for students and families, not only this year, but for years to come. You're thorough. Thank you. Detail oriented. Thank you again. And approach your work with such care and intentionality. You play an integral role in our positive behavioral support systems, staff support, and our accountability structures while also managing the daily logistics of our building. You are highly visible, highly collaborative, and relationship centered, fostering strong connections with students, staff, and most importantly, the community. Jessica Craft is the community that you see here tonight. So, I'm honored to recommend tenure to Jessica Craft. I'm talking. Oh
008jeez. Actually, I'm going to do what Mr. Drestler did and I'm going to talk about the people who are not here first. So, welcome. It is my great pleasure as well as Mr. Rockos to recommend the following people for tenure. I would like to first recommend Mike Bringley. Mike is our seventh and eighth grade science teacher. Mike came to us in the fall of 2023. He has an excellent rapport with students and they respect him. Mike designs engaging and thoughtprovoking lessons in his classrooms. His classroom is a positive center of activity. He has become also an important member of our building culture. He is a member of BPT eighth grade team leader and has been a tutor of students who have been out for a variety of reasons and was willing to take on also
009our math portion of our club 34 to support students skill gaps for our seventh and eighth grade students. Occasionally also when he has time, Mike can be found out on the playground during playground time playing football with our students. He has become an integral part of our middle school culture and I would like to recommend tenure for Mike Bringley. Next, Jason Seml. Jason also came to us in the summer of 2023. He has evolved as a building leader and become a key part of our building culture. He has developed an inter mural program with for our fifth and sixth graders. Jason is flexible and will sub whenever we need him. He is also part of the greater culture. Mr. Roco and I have often had to go to the well and asked him to tutor
010or cover or help out. He is always says yes, always willing to help. Also, he came to us from uh Boseies over here in Williamson and it gives him a unique perspective as well as the ability to see the larger picture. Both Brian and I appreciate that very much. He is also the varsity basketball coach and the varsity basketball coach for three years, all three winning seasons. Jason has acted as a faculty adviser to the athletic director. He has supported athletic programming and communications. He has also been the summer school principal at Williamson Williamson and Marian and also he's going to be the summer school principal at Newark this year. It is my great uh joy to recommend Jason SL for tenure. In addition, I would also like to recommend Ashley Aer. When Ashley came
011to us in 2020, she interviewed for a special ed position. And Ashley, your interview, it was almost like everybody else just will listen. But we knew Ashley initially was in our self-contained special education program for two years and she did amazing things with those students. But then the opportunity of me came to her and she switched to reading and it has been one of the best things for Williamson Middle School. I walk by Ashley's room. There is no time when students are not learning. There is no time when students are not engaged. Ashley, you are a dedicated teacher and you have gone above and beyond to support students improving their reading skills and we have seen the growth of those students. She has inspired a confidence and a passion for reading amongst her students and
012mind you has some of the weakest students who are struggle with reading. Ashley has advised newspaper club, yearbook club, running club. You also inspire a passion for running amongst many many of our students. You are a positive addition to this building and I strongly recommend you for a motion. I need a motion to approve Middle School. All in favor? >> Congratulations. invite Mary while up. Where'd she go? Right there she is. Similar to everybody else, while Mary comes up, I have another teacher I want to talk about. Um, so I want to first recognize and recommend for tenure Mr. Steve Fington. It is with great pleasure that I recommend Senor Steve Ferington for tenure. Mr. Ferrington serves as our only world language teacher in the district. Uh he's currently teaching both French and Spanish courses
013uh across grades 7 through 12. In addition to traveling between the two buildings and teaching an extra period, he also facilitates our world language club and continually seeks new opportunities to expose students to different cultures and global experiences. Steve's passion for world exploration is evident in his classroom instruction where he brings language and culture together and makes kids days each and every day. His dedication, his flexibility, and his commitment uh has provided meaningful opportunities to our students and that's why I believe he is highly deserving of tenure. Next, I'd like to speak about Mary while Mary is a counselor here at the high school, but this one's especially meaningful for me because our time together actually started 20 long years ago. So, when I was 17 years old as a student at East High School
014in the Rochester City School District, Mary was a firstear counselor who used to yell at my now wife and I to hurry up and get to class. So, fast forward 20 years, an entirely different school district, and now we have the privilege of working alongside each other as colleagues. At the high school, Mary is truly a beacon of all things good. She leads our MTSS team, our mental health team, serves as a class advisor, contributes to our tier 1 team, and is a member at our BPT team, yet somehow always finds time to respond to calls and texts at all all hours of the day, and I've had to tell her to stop writing emails so late at night. What stands out the most about Mary is not just the number of hats that she
015wears, but the care and compassion and the consistency that she brings to everything that she does here at the high school. Students know they can count on her. Staff trust her, and our school is unquestionably better because of her. It is an honor for me to recommend Mary for tenure tonight. >> I need a motion to approve the tenure appointment of Mary While and Steve. All in favor? Congratulations. I'm going to try and adjust the microphone just like Scott, Mr. Drestler did. Boy, we went from endings in the cafeteria to beginnings in the auditorium. Our retirees have passed the torch today to our tenure recipients. It is such an immensely profound resp prof professional responsibility and to our tenure recipients clearly you wear it well. Congratulations. It tonight it is also my pleasure to speak
016in support of the recommendation for tenure for Miss Katherine Taylor also known as Kate and KT but for this evening because we are in a professional capacity we will refer to her as Katherine. For Katherine Williamson is far more than simply a place of employment. Her recommendation for tenure represents a career-long investment in this community, its students, and its future. Katherine has dedicated the majority of her professional career to the Williamson Central School District. She was first a teacher, later a building administrator, and over that time, she has become deeply connected to the fabric of this community through the relationship she has built with students, families, staff, community partners, and district stakeholders. Prior to entering administration, I don't know if everyone knows this, but Katherine served the district for more than a decade as a
017global 10 teacher, which she reminds me about almost every day. As a global 10 teacher, she developed a reputation as a passionate and engaging educator who genuinely loved both her students and the content. Imagine that. Even today, Katherine consistently weaves global content and themes into her leadership practice, bringing historical perspective and metaphor into daily conversation. References to global patterns such as westerly winds or other geographic and historical analogies often surface in her thinking as she helps frame challenges, explain systems, and support our shared understanding. In addition to her years in the classroom, Katherine served for over a decade as an assistant principal and now as building principal, where she has gained extensive experience and understanding of both operational and instructional responsibilities. What makes her leadership particularly meaningful is that her commitment to Williamston ex Williamson
018extends beyond the school day. She lives in this community. She raised her daughter in this community who's here with us tonight. is a pleasure to meet you, Emma. And she has invested personally and professionally in the success of this district and the people that she serves. Because of these long-standing connections, Katherine is well connected with both internal and external stakeholders, and she has built deep roots within this community. She understands Williamson not only as a school district, but as a community with core values, rich tradition, and pride. Katherine has established herself as a thoughtful, student centered, and highly relational leader whose work consistently prioritized collaboration, school culture, and bright futures for students. Throughout her tenure track period, and since I've known her, she has successfully led through a significant period of leadership transition in this
019district and tremendous organizational change, navigating shifting roles, expectations, and structures with professionalism and steadiness. Amid this evolving landscape, she has transitioned gracefully and she has maintained clarity of purpose. Katherine brings a unique energy and personality to her work. Conversations with her often include this familiar phrase, "Let me draw that out for you, Bridget," followed by diagrams, illustrations, or even accompanying sound effects to help make the ideas clear and accessible to me through her. that enthusiasm, creativity, and sense of humor have become part of her leadership style and contribute meaningfully to the culture she fosters. Importantly, she has demonstrated commitment to balancing operational effectiveness with joy and culture building events such as international day, tier one celebrations, pride recognitions, continued development of a Veterans Day assembly, which she created here at Williamson. They all reflect her
020belief that schools should be places where students and staff feel connected, celebrated, and proud to be proud to belong. No leader is ever finished growing. Frankly, none of us in this room are finished growing. And Katherine herself would be the first to acknowledge that continuous improvement remains essential in this work. What is clear, however, to me is that KT Katherine possesses the character, relational skill, and commitment necessary to continue making a positive impact. For all of these reasons, it is my profound pleasure and honor to recommend tenure for Katherine Taylor. And I'm sorry I didn't call her up at first. I was speaking to you. Come on up. >> And we'll hold applause. They haven't taken action yet. I need a motion to approve the tenure appointment of Katherine Taylor, middle school principal. I move
021to approve the tenure appointment of Catherine. >> All in favor? >> I passes 5. Congratulations. welcome to stay, but we know you'd rather go enjoy the nice weather. >> Yeah, KT, you have to say. Okay, next up we have reports to the board. >> All right. Um, yeah, thank you very much. Um, as the school year concludes, obviously uh academics are becoming more of a priority uh as as it has already been a priority, but more and more as regions are coming up and that's uh great. Um, not much other than that. Um there's not a lot of relevant student input besides that. I just wanted to do a quick highlight that I went to the for uh county association May 13th, but I thought that was very beneficial and a great night. Uh hearing
022that speaker was, I would say, very motivating and the panel wasn't as uh intimidating as I once thought it was. Thank you. >> Thank you, Ronin. Reports from district administrators. >> Thank you very much. And it was my pleasure to see him on the panel. He did an outstanding job, Ronin. Uh because of our configuration this evening, what I'd like to do is pass off the microphone and we'll go in the continued order that we always do. So we'll start with elementary and pass all the way up to district level. If you could just pass the microphone and then Penny, after you'll pass it back to me. >> Thank you so much. Again, this is one of my favorite part of all board meetings. That one was by far my favorite though. Um, so at
023the elementary school again, we're moving into the final week, final weeks of the year, and we're focused on balancing our strong year-end traditions and celebrations with intentional planning for continued instructional growth and support going into the 2627 school year. So, currently, we just finished this LA last week, our staff is deeply engaged in our class placement process for next school year. Um, ongoing conversations with teachers, intervention providers, um, support staff. for working to build balanced classroom communities that support the academic, social, emotional, and um behavioral needs of all of our learners. And it's really collaborative and it's just that phrase of all students belong to all of us. Um thoughtful placement supports allow students to really hit the ground running in September. So that's the work that we're doing now. At the same time, again,
024our building planning team in collaboration with Karen's office, we're really looking on how we can extend our instructional practices next year, utilizing our change in our master schedule that we made this year on really maintaining and maximizing our instructional blocks for students and looking at ways for extension, but also remediation within that same block. And while we're planning for the future remains a priority, we are going to be celebrating the incredible work that we have done this year. And that's one of the things I think I'm going to be looking forward to most from June until the end of June is I have heard so many great things. When I was brought in last year, the school had just worked through field days where I saw staff members in blowup costumes running a race. So
025those are some of the traditions and things that I'm looking forward to this June. Uh just a very exciting exciting time at the elementary school. >> Thank you. Um I would like to uh start by highlighting at the high school um our personalized communication goal. So we have made over 2,000 phone calls home this year as a school. Um and to date 96% of our students have received a positive phone call home at some point during the year. Um so definitely a celebration there. And I also want to shout out Mrs. Northrup who uh this June every student will be receiving a individual copy of their regent schedule. So none of that like everybody gets the same copy and you highlight where you're supposed to be when she's just sending everybody a personalized region schedule
026right to their house to them and their families um on parent square so that way just that added touch of the personal communication but also holding our students uh being transparent and clearly communicating where they need to be. Um I also want to acknowledge uh Mrs. Cole here at the high school for her public policy presentations we've been doing. Um this year I challenged her. she was new to teaching the course and I said, "Hey, listen. I taught social studies. I really believe in literacy being taught through social studies and one of the ways that she's approaching that is through this uh public policy end of the year capstone project that they're doing. Uh it was incredible. Today we watched a student speak for I think it was Karen was there with me. I think
027it was almost 40 minutes about a passionate uh topic of passion. Um which includes a paper that goes with that and the PowerPoint and the research. Um but that is bringing literacy full circle in 12th grade. Um, so just a big shout out to Mrs. Cole for making that happen up here. >> Hello everyone. Um, so I told you at my last board report that we were considering expanding some of our program offerings for extended school year and Scott and I had a very a little adventure in his VW bug and we went to Marian and were able to visit and um, we feel like we are going to be able to program and um, consortium students with us which will be able to broaden our offerings and expand our staff for extended school year.
028So, we're really excited for that. We think we have a great plan and we have a fully extended school year which is really exciting. Um I've also been busy meeting with our building principles um and our special education teachers and I do feel like we have a great planned and well planned assignments for next year to really maximize the support for our special education students next year. So, I'm excited about that. Um, I want to commemorate our um, congratulate our new uh, life skills teacher, Patty Gaminger. We kind of threw her in the middle of alternate assessments when she came in. She trained on her third day here and she's now wrapped them all up. So, we are excited that students were able to perform really well on those and show what they were able
029to do in an alternate way. Um, Friday is a really exciting day in the special education world. We are headed to the Special Olympics in Newark. Open ceremonies all start at 9:30. I will be there all day and I hope that some of you will be able to come and support our students. I know we have a little send off planned at the middle school for them. We have 24 student athletes participating and eight high school students that will help them participate and we're just really looking forward to a great day and pray there's no rain. It looks like it's going to hold off for us. So, we'll hope it stays that way. >> That's my phone. >> Uh for athletics. So this morning in community forum uh we had a inning byinning commentary about
030our modified baseball team who had a stunning uh 15 to4 win against North uh Ro and RW. Um but we often hear about the growth in academics here at board uh board meetings. We don't often hear about growth in athletics. So, our modified coaches do a phenomenal job with maintaining that philosophy of um getting our athletes ready and learning the game and learning the techniques and skills. I've had conversations with coach Vitalone, Coach Partial, Mr. Longoa, Mr. Fischer about, this is going to be a really challenging season. And then I'm having emails and texts saying this is so much fun. They've they've improved so much. So, uh discussing this morning with Miss Taylor on what am I going to highlight? Um, why not touch on the growth in athletics for our young kids and our
031coach is doing a phenomenal job. Our tennis team had four players and they went undefeated as well. Good evening everyone. So I am going to talk about academic achievement. Um, as you know, one of our district initi in initiatives is academic achievement and again working with both obviously Bridget and Karen the phrase move the needle forward for our students and so one of our BPT goals is to show growth in Ire um 10% growth. Now we are only so this is our first this is our third benchmark but this is the first day of our students taking the ELA benchmark in I ready which will show us did they show growth from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Uh again, it was so moving to me because I had several
032teachers come down to me and say, "Kate, these students are working so hard and and I had kids which I've not seen for many years go Taylor, I grew by like 40 points." So, one of the things I would like to share, there are two such points of pride um for the building. Our third benchmark um our students in I Ready and we've only tested so far so far only uh one-third of our students have completed it. So, they're not even completed. At this point, we have moved from 19% of our students in the fall reading on grade level, right now, we've only tested a third of them, to 35% of our students reading on grade levels. That's a 16% increase. Um, however, what actually makes me even happier is that our students reading far
033below grade level, more than two grade levels below. We were at 51% in the fall. So, half of our students were reading multiple grade levels below. We are now to 35%. Is that a perfect number? No. But that's 16 percentage points improved. And so now these students, I speak about Ashley, confidence, they might be only one grade level below. And so that brings them that confidence. They can handle the content better. So I cannot tell you enough that our teachers are invested and dedicated this year to moving that needle forward and to improving our students um ability to read and again tested one-third. I'm so excited and again through the work of our club 34 people just closing those gaps. So that is a point of pride. Also with our culture of caring I would
034just like to say that the building continues to work on culture caring. We had our obviously international fast the other day, but we also had on Friday the pride race and all of our students when they were finished with their race. They looped right around and cheered on the students who were coming in. Even the walkers, the last kids and so we did, Mr. Rock and I praised them so much today. That is the high point. That is everything you can be with Pride Philosophy. You cheered on your peers. There was no snarkiness. You were just everyone coming through. You're like the job. So the middle school we are moving forward and I'm very proud to say that yes >> honestly Jeeoff I think this whole year it's been the conversation that we have had
035over and over and over again with you know what I mean like this is our job we have this is a place of academics we are here to educate our students and not that They haven't, but I think they have really made it their focus and investment and the conversation has never stopped. We didn't give I ready in the fall and be like, we constantly revisited the conversation about the results and again looking at the gaps and focusing on that. And I would have to say our BPT team along with Mr. Roco, they have been drivers of some of this work. So I just want to say we have had some very focused people. Oh, and our literacy in the content area as well. I think that's really helpful. >> Good evening. Um I am
036going to continue the conversation about academic achievement and I'm going to speak a little bit to the futuring of our academic achievement. Um yesterday we had the benefit of Jessica Sheridan and Gordy Baxter from Bose to come in to work with us on our readiness in terms of portrait of a graduate um and where the district stands uh in in being prepared. Um there is so much that is still unknown about the port for the graduate but this gave us a good benchmark to start from and to determine where where are our immediate areas of growth are going to be and then where we will slowly continue to move the needle as well. There are three things that I wanted to highlight that we are doing in in towards the portrait of a graduate. Um
037the one first thing is is that Rob and myself have started the work around personal finance and digging into the standards. We do have the standards for personal finance in 9 through 12 and 5 through8. So we started at the high school. We'll come to you next. Um and just taking a look at those objectives and or excuse me those standards and seeing is there a best fit for them. Do they belong in an economics class? Do they belong in algebra one? Do they belong somewhere else? Or is there is it such a unique need that we need to consider what future options we need to have to best support our students through out that personal finance. It's a fantastic set of objectives. if you were to get excited about objectives. I mean, it's just
038so relevant for the kids. Um, so that's really amazing. Uh, secondly, I would uh part of the portrait of the graduate is the seal of civic readiness, which is not new to our district, but I will just piggyback on what Rob said today. We heard or today I heard four different presentations on equity in athletics, food additives, and how to navigate that. um chronic absenteeism and uh diversity, equity, and inclusion. Those are all the same relevant topics that we're discussing and the kids did a phenomenal job and just in just showing what they know. It was you could tell it was a passion project for all of them. Those are the things that will complement the seal of civic readiness and just be an additional part to showcase how our students are doing so well.
039Um, and then last but not least, I'm drawing a blank on my last but not least, but I think those are two really good highlights right there. Um, so I just want to say as we continue to get ready for portrait of the graduate, we are looking for all the ways that we can continue to move our work forward. I just wanted to start by thanking everybody who came out to vote on our uh 2627 budget for next year. And I'd also like to thank the students who voted in the cafeteria's chicken showdown. Um the elementary school had an amazing voter turnout. Uh their voices were definitely heard and um some selections have been made. There will be additional tastings for the middle school and high school. Middle school, there will be a tasting sometime
040in June. And then I guess the high school had one today and there may be another one in June as well. Um and then on to facilities. Uh pending board approval tonight, we will be um acquiring a laborer um who is uh going to start on July 1 pending that approval. And that addition to the staff will be extremely valuable as um you know we're approaching graduation and um the busy summer season. facilities is also instal installing dome mirrors throughout the district in some of the hallways to um enhance overall student safety and uh eliminate some blind spots. >> Will you ask that question out loud in front of the whole public? You know, I was going to be brief and actually now I'm not. >> I can project my >> Is it back on?
041Thank you. But I can project my voice. That would not have inhibited me. I don't typically do this, but I am now feeling the need to do a lot of shout outs and kudos. And so, first I want to give a huge shout out to the Williamson community. As uh Penny said, our business official, just want to thank the Williamson community for supporting our 202627 budget. Uh supporting teaching and learning and outcomes for our students. Uh we feel it and we appreciate uh the folks who came out and said yes. Want to also say congratulations to George Govern I mean Jeff Governor and Angela Defer who are now elected to new terms on the board of education. We're thrilled to have you to continue service. And then also a huge shout out to Aurora Higgby
042who actually went through the process and was elected as our student exeicio board of education member. Thrilled to have her on board and want to thank Ronin again for his service and for his help to onboard Aurora to the role. Like I said I'm going to do a lot of shout outs. Uh, I do want to share I'm sitting here and as I'm listening to the administrative reports, I heard Scott say one of his favorite parts is actually giving his report. And I thought, well, I can echo that. One of my favorite parts about the board meetings is listening to each and every one of the administrators that you've authorized for all of us to work as a team together. And boy, when I think about the work that is happening, I just feel tremendously
043proud. Talk about moving the needle, folks. Uh, I'm just incredibly proud and honored to work with all of you. And I know the data has to inform that. We can't rely on just conversations. Uh but I'm excited about how that data will play out when we see our performance results as we continue to future together. I do have actually some legitimate updates. Uh end of year updates. Uh each of our principles is professionally responsible for and we talked about making sure that we are uh coordinating with our community all those important celebrations that are coming up. This is a very busy time of year and so each of our building administrators is going to be pushing out if they haven't already uh extensive communications to our families so that they have an awareness of all
044the upcoming celebrations. Along those same lines, I want to thank Karen Hoodie for her coordination of our end ofear surveys. That is not a new practice. I will share with you Karen and I spent some time and we revisited those surveys a little bit. So, we're going to be excited to share with you how we uh varied those up a little bit. We have our parent surveys already coming in. Student surveys have been administered and faculty is going out to tomorrow morning. So excited to see how those come back. For the board of education, uh you might be surprised, but I'm going to invite you to contribute a singing uh stanza in our end of your video. Once again, I will be asking Kelly Dixon after this evening to coordinate with you a time when
045you might be willing to make a guest appearance. I hope that you rise to the challenge. >> Just saying. >> There are several dates available for video recording. I told Karen she couldn't, so no, you can't either. Karen wanted to put herself in as AI, and I'm like, "Yeah, no, you got to be in it." Uh, graduation, our commencement ceremony, of course, is on June 26, 7 p.m. We want to make sure we're shouting that one out and making sure that our community is aware. That should be an incredible event. Very proud of Dr. Snyder and Mrs. Northrup for pushing out the level of extensive communication they're pushing out so our families have awareness of what they can expect for commencement. Appreciate Miss Hoodie. uh spoke to the fact that our district participated yesterday in
046a readiness assessment tool. I'm sorry. Yes, that was yesterday. Readiness. It feels like a long week, but it's only Wednesday, two days in. Readiness assessment tool. And the purpose of that is really uh almost a different form of strength need assessment to see where we are as a district as we're ready readying for New York inspires and portrait of a graduate meaning what is the current state of the state and where do we need to think about moving. This is really an important assessment tool for us as we're thinking about going into summer and additional strategic planning. So all of the team will now have the opportunity to ruminate upon our conversations and what we learned about ourselves as a district and what potential actions we have to prepare for New York inspires and portrait
047of a graduate. So very excited to engage with them. I'm sure they're going to be very excited. They have a full day of strategic planning already on their summer calendar. Uh moving forward, a couple state updates. Uh we do still not have a New York State budget. Is anyone surprised? Uh we do have good news. We have confirmation that we believe we're going to get the 1% increase. So instead of 1% foundation aid, we do anticipate getting 2% which equates to an additional $95,000 in state aid funding. That's great news. Important for all of you as well as our community to understand. That does not mean that we can spend an additional $95,000. We can only spend what was authorized in that budget vote. that $95,000 will offset what we would have potentially used in
048use of reserves and/or fund balance to balance the budget. Also, great news. Uh this one I feel like we've been advocating for vigorously. Uh there is now a five-year delay in that EV bus mandate. So, we fully expect that when the state budget comes out that they're going to actually postpone uh the anticipated transition for going from gas and diesel fuel buses uh to EV buses. And so this is something the entirety of the state, superintendents, uh NISSBA, all of the uh respective organizations, uh we've been working really hard and we're thrilled that we feel we've had a voice and we can expect that in the state budget. And then lastly, Penny, I don't know if you got this one, but I know she's going to jump up and down in her seat right now.
049Watch everyone. Uh they also are reforming tier six. So, something that's been a barrier for staffing as we're thinking about staffing shortages for teachers is that they uh in their infinite infinite wisdom uh actually adjusted tier six retirement. And our teachers who were onboarding at tier six had to work uh 40 basically years, couldn't retire until ex I'm not even sure how old they had to be to retire, but it was very much a barrier for recruiting people to come into our field. And they have adjusted that now. and they're actually going to say in the budget uh that our folks in tier six can retire at age 58 with 30 years and no penalty. So, great news. Couple other quick updates. Just making sure I keep the board aware of pathways. Uh you know,
050we're working vigorously around identifying sustainability pathways. And so, one of them that I'm extremely passionate about is the regionalization and shared services approach. And so uh I don't have any updates other than to tell you that the group of six superintendents we are meeting again on Friday and after meeting with the consultant offline we have determined this next meeting we have to start identifying the action steps and one of those action steps what we're hoping for is that we will make agreement to start bringing our boards of education in so that we can start having larger conversations with you around what is the appetite for moving forward in these ways. great if we all support that, but we have to make sure we have our board of educ boards of education on board to continue
051that work. Uh the other pathway I'd like to again mention is that we are still excited about a potential partnership with Boseies to potentially lease space at our middle school. That is of course still on pause. I of course am nagging the appropriate people at Boseies. Uh no definitive additional steps, but I want you to know we're not losing sight of that. It's not going to get swept away. And then the last one, very excited to collaborate with Penny Johnston, Andy Canwell, myself. We will be working with folks from Eneria to begin uh factf finding around an energy performance contract which potentially could allow for us to do some work uh that would be funded and we would pay back over 15 years. Of course, nothing would happen without the board taking action. So, I
052do feel like we had support from the board for us to explore this as a possible pathway. We're going to do that. We're going to inform you every step of the way. and as I have more information to share with you and when the times come to take action if such time comes we'll make sure that you're informed and then lastly everybody knows what it is the SIP updates so thinking about facilities again very excited about the gymnasium floor being done that resolves our 2024 project our 2025 capital outlay project we are working on right now and hope to have that wrapped up by June 30th uh so that we can make sure we get adequate funding on that our 2025 capital improvement project we are well in design phase. Uh phase one is going
053to be good to go, which means we're going to start our roofs at the elementary. Those have been prioritized so we can remove those pavers that are on top of your building, Mr. Drestler. Uh as well as the gymnasium floor at the elementary, which we believe poses a safety hazard. Beyond that, everything else in that capital improvement project that was authorized by voters is part of phase two, and we have not yet submitted any information to the state education department. That concludes my report tonight. Thank you very much. >> Thank you. uh district committee reports. There were actually a few committee meetings. Um safety committee on May 13th, the wellness committee May 14th, and then tech committee was >> sitt Thank you. Uh district events, we had prom on May 9th. Uh the fourth grade
054spring concert was May 12th at the middle school. Fifth and eighth grade New York State Science Test was May 13th. As mentioned, we had the annual budget vote and election on May 19th. Then along with the middle school art show and the fifth and sixth grade spring concert, also on May 19th, the end of the five-week marking period was last Friday, the 22nd for the middle and high school Memorial Day holiday earlier this week on the 25th. And we just finished our retirement and tenure reception earlier this afternoon here in the high school for county school boards association and rural schools association. Anyone have anything? Okay. PTSA. Okay. All right. Good evening everyone. I almost said good morning. Um, so the biggest update I have for you guys tonight is our officers for next year.
055I am pleased to announce that uh Miss Stephanie Bean will be our president next year. Uh, Miss Amanda Johnson will be our vice president, Miss Lucia Copeland will be our secretary, and Miss Kristen Spencer will be our treasurer for next year. Um, I know you guys have all had concerns about the change of officers. I will say I'm stepping down. I'm not stepping away. Um this also provides me a great opportunity for my other roles I have around the community. Um the alumni of distinction, I'm on the board of trustees at my church and also this last year I started uh volunteering with the booster club. So I have plenty to fill my time. Um, it'll also give me the great opportunity to just be a parent and a parent volunteer as my daughter moves
056up into the middle school under Kate Taylor who was an awesome teacher in 10th grade. Um, so I will still be here. I don't know if I will come to all the meetings next year. I will still come to them. So I'll still see you. Um, also, uh, for Rob and Scott, new memberships are open for next year. You can enroll online and see who joins first. Just be sure to cl to select the right year on the website. Um, also obviously we do quite a bit to push the box tops for education program especially since it's now become digital. Uh during parent or during teacher appreciation week, um uh Patty here actually went through and nominated different staff members from around our district on each day. Uh and on one of the days, Charlie
057Smith was actually selected as one of the winners. Um he's receiving a goodie bag from Box Tops as well as a $100 gift card to be able to spend on his classroom as he sees fit. Uh we've had a ton of running around uh the community and at district events. We had volunteers at prom. Um that was fun. We made sure none of the kids went down to the water after dark. Uh we've had some people at the pride race this last week. Um and also at the skating parties uh that have been in the elementary and middle school. There had been some questions from a few people. Why are there no skating parties for like seventh and eighth grade this year? Um that is mostly because uh we have a 50 person minimum to
058with the skating company. They are driving all the way up here from Geneva. Uh and so the 50 person is to make it their worthwhile. And obviously our seventh and eighth graders are starting to join sports. So there's not as many of them to come. Hopefully we'll be able to do something bigger possibly in the high school next year, but we'll see where that goes. Um, also one of the what I think is an improvement over the last uh few years in my experience is that with our uh school concerts at the middle school, we've actually moved the hospitality into the gymnasium space versus in the hallway. Um, this has just given us extra room to expand, but it also has made it so it's less of a congestion and possible um emergency risk because
059of how tight everything gets in that hallway. So, that's been really great and that also provides uh more open space for the parents to be able to find their students after the concert is over. Um, also it'll I'll have this to you tomorrow, Rob. Uh, and then so starting for next week and then the following week, we are going to have uh a new fundraiser that doesn't take a lot of effort. Um, you're doing it's called tattoo the teacher or tap the staff. Uh so um we have had staff members at the high schools sign up. We have 18 so far that have agreed to dawn temporary tattoos. Uh students and other staff members will have the opportunity to purchase and assign tattoos to the ones that have agreed to participate and then we will
060have uh some kind of an award for the staff member who has the most tattoos. So expect to see that coming out over the next couple days. Thank you. >> Uh board reports. I need a motion to approve the CSSE case summaries. >> Some moved. Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? I opposed. Passes 5. I need a motion to approve the April treasurer's report. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any discussion or anything I need to note? Penny. >> All in favor? >> I opposed. Passes 5. Okay. Next up, we have the wellness reports. Alrighty. So, we are here to report on district health and wellness this year. Um, really Kathy Abnazer is our ring leader of health and wellness. She makes sure everyone in the district is healthy and well, and we appreciate
061everything she does um for all three of our buildings this year. Oh, this is not working, Larry. So, maybe you can do it for me. Aim it towards you. >> Oh, I got to aim it towards him. You didn't tell me that. Then you >> turn it the other way. >> Other way. >> Yeah. >> Here we go. >> There we go. So, we've really taken a tier one approach to student and staff health and wellness this year. each building's tier one team has kind of taken over that health and wellness though we do have a health and wellness committee at each building as well but they've just kind of tends to be the same people so they work together to uh plan events that promote healthy relationship building between our staff and our students
062and really connecting staff and students to our school community. Um our community schools coordinators Molly and Aaron are also a huge part of this. They help coordinate so many events for our students um to help them feel connected to their school community as well. So at the elementary school um we have lots of pictures. So Scott, if you want to budge in I think I can summarize them pretty well, but um Aaron Rowley and her team have really worked on doing a lot of literacy Legos. I know you um we've talked about that a few times, but the students obviously really like that. Maybe not. There we go. Um, there was Big Apple Crunch Day. They did a fire safety for the students, which is always a big hit. Um, they had a staff secret
063Santa, which I think was a big hit as well. Everyone seems really happy. They also, we had again 67 students in our dental clinic that community schools um hosted. They had um some Super Bowl and some lunchons. Uh they raised $8,000 for the heart association. They've done their pride assemblies all year. Uh they have hosted a run club for our third and fourth graders which was a big hit. I love seeing them run around the hallways at the end of the school day which was mostly inside not outside this year. Um they uh had done a cornhole tournament. Who was the winners? >> Uh TVD the finals. >> Oh we haven't hit the finals. I thought we did. Uh they did a chalk walk for the pride based race to coordinate with the middle school
064on Friday. All the students, elementary school students went out on the sidewalk and uh wrote really fun and encouraging me messages. I actually did an observation of one of our teachers and she was like they brainstormed different encouraging messages they could write. They practiced writing them in their classroom and then they went out and wrote them on the sidewalk. So which was a really cool way to incorporate literacy in a community connection kind of way. Uh they also did a underground staff spirit week and then an underground underground staff spirit week. Uh which was really fun to for the teachers and the kids to kind of guess by that what one was the really tipper off when they uh >> Different shoes and different Yes. That's when the students started to really catch on several
065days before they figured it out. >> Did I hit everything, Scott? Any >> Yeah, there's so much. Yeah. >> I There's no way we could hit everything. So at the middle school um everything that is in red that was uh staff and student together. We did our rock paper scissors competition, March Madness. We have our monthly food groups where all the staff is divided and they take a month and they serve a breakfast or lunch or a nice little snack. We did an underground spirit week as well. I think students figured out when we were dressing like students, that was the point that they figured out what we were doing. Um, we do peer-to-peer recognition during our forums. Obviously, our global day of play, we had a family feud competition this year, so that was
066kind of fun. Uh, we have a staff versus students softball game that's coming up and we're in the middle of springing kindness gift giving right now. So, here's some of our >> I lost. >> You lost. Brian lost. Robin is our champion. Roambo winner. Our apple crunch. That was our family feud team. Uh, so at the high school they've done the masked marauder. They had a pie. Rob, you and Chelsea, you can jump in at any time, too. They did a door and hallway decorating. Uh, Find Marley the Marauder. I don't even know what that one is about. What was Find Marley the Marauder? >> At Christmas time, uh, we hide Marley, who is our our stuffed mascot, Tiger, around the building and students have to try to find her, him, it, the tiger. >>
067Uh, they've done Pride ticket window displays, pumpkin painting, and there's been lots of spirit weeks at the high school as well. Uh there's uh some high school pictures day. Who got pied in the face? Mr. Fiddle. >> Yes. Oh, that's >> um as the flash district coordinator, these are some of the um monthly events that have been planned from September through June. The lift project which is ongoing. It was um we've been doing the lift project for a number of years and they decided to extend it and give um staff to sign up to participate the whole entire school year to be able to go in and do the different activities. So, that has been excellent. We did the flu vaccine clinic. We did our breast cancer awareness sweatshirt and t-shirt fundraiser. We've got some
068pictures of that. Four pillars of wellness, good life challenge. Um, our biometric screenings this year, this is the largest biometric screening participation. I have 45 staff members that signed up to do biometric screenings. They got a really nice quarterzip sweatshirt with the Williamson logo on it. So, I think that helped inspire people to sign up for the biometric screening superintendent conference day nature RX. Uh we have a wellness spring group bingo living practice daily calendar that will be coming out next week. So staff will have the entire um summer to have different monthly calendars to um do some reflection and some re rejuvenation. Even though the back to school bash is not part of flash, we've already started the planning process for that which will be on September 11th when we come back to the
069next school year. Here's just some more pictures of staff wellness on the great and wonderful day of Catholic land. >> And the sweatshirts. >> The sweatshirts. We were able to donate $255 to breast cancer along with the the march. >> All right. Any questions? >> Thank you. Okay, moving on to the consent agenda. I need a motion to approve consent agenda items 6B through 6D as recommended by the superintendent. >> So, any discussion? All in favor? >> I oppose. Abstain. >> Passes 401. I need a motion to approve the retirement resignation as presented. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> I oppose passes. 5 Z. Old business. The summer dates and 2026 27 meeting calendar. I asked Kelly to put this on here just to revisit now that we've had
070uh the election vote to make sure everyone was still okay with this and whether we want to keep the amount of time that we had. So right now for the summer we head down Virginia Karen and the board on July 9th from 4 to 8. Then the board on July 14th in the afternoon and then our reorg meeting that evening and then the board and the entire admin team all day on the 15th. I know part of that was because we thought if we had new board members, we would need the full amount of time that we've taken in the past. Do we still want that time on the 9th? Do we want to do something different? >> Just a reminder, the 15th it's intended that we would do dinner. >> Yep. >> Yeah, that's
071on there, too. Evening event. That's good to meet. So, no on the 9th or >> I don't know. That's what I'm asking. >> If we meet on the 9th and 14th, >> well, the 14th we have our rework, so we would have to be here for that at 5:30 anyway, >> right? which by law we're supposed to do by a certain date before we do the extension. >> Let let me ask you this. the ninth that was if there were two new board members and so that would be catered towards that no longer >> I think that was the intent >> right since we don't have two board members do we still need to or want to >> I guess my recollection was that if you had two new board members that we would have
072to have an additional time period that would be specific to on boarding the new board members I guess the real question is do you feel that We can get through the annual report in one session, four hours, or do you do both on the 9th and the 14th? >> I think we can super focus. >> I think we can facilitate and I do care and make sure we're super focused and do it in one, but it really is the will of the board. I feel comfortable that we we would choose I don't want to speak for everybody. >> Well, I guess if what if we met on the 9th and if we got through everything on the 9th then we could get rid of the five on the >> on the 14th. >> 14th. >>
073So what are you saying? So >> I'd rather do the 14th. So just >> we can't add another one after the 14th. So that's what I'm saying. So if we do the night, not the 14th from 1 to 5, but be here at 5:30, >> right? >> So no vacation time on the 14th or we could just do afternoon stuff. >> What was the last part? >> I'm just thinking about vacation time at work. So if we if we do the 400 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the 9th, then no vacation time >> will be needed. the 14th. We'll still be here at 5:30 p.m. 14th. >> Oh, gotcha. >> That's what I was thinking. >> Gotcha. >> I'm just thinking out loud for myself. >> So, would you wait to see if you needed
074the 14th and wait till after your time on the 9th to make that decision? >> Yeah. >> Can we No. Yeah. I want just for my vacation time usage. or school board stuff. >> Yeah, because at 4:00 you don't have to use vacation, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, leave it the way it is and then >> the 14th is tenative based on what we get done on the 9th. >> Okay. Okay. And then does anybody have any other I know Kelly updated the meeting schedule for next year based on the conversation the last time we had this on the agenda. Does anybody have any conflicts with any of the dates that are on there? >> I think I sent the ones that I had. Yeah, I think very nice right >> in the January
075meeting I think for your conflict s >> and then the highlighted ones would just be strictly business meetings no presentations >> so like 45 minutes >> in theory they would be >> record is Would you talk to us? >> Super focused. >> I'll do a written report. >> You can send me emails if you have questions. >> Okay. So, we'll leave everything the way it is, but we don't actually approve the meeting dates until the New York. Correct. >> Right. So, there's still time to make an adjustment if something comes up for anybody. >> Okay. >> In the next little bit. >> Okay. Thank you. Um, new business. I need a motion to Oh, I'm sorry. I don't need a motion yet. I have to read this. Resolved that the board of education hereby approves
076the 2026 to 2029 collective bargaining agreement between the superintendent of schools and the WFA and hereby approves the funding necessary to implement this agreement. >> So move. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> I oppose. Passes 5. I need a motion to approve the memorandum of agreement with WFA regarding intramural coordinators and downkeepers. >> So move second. >> Any discussion? >> Just that this reflects uh the district's ability to pay for practice that has been uh occurring and the inclusion of the down keepers which were not previously recognized in the WFA contract and we missed it during negotiations. So our first >> MOA winning All in favor? >> I >> oppose. Passes. 5 Z. >> I need a motion to approve the disposal of the assets listed. >> Some move. >> Second. >> Any discussion?
077All in favor? >> Opposed? Passes. 5. I need a motion to approve the excess of the equipment listed for auction purposes. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> All in favor? >> I oppose. Passes 5-0. I need a motion to accept two supply of teacher boxes from the Kids in Need and Burger King Foundations. >> So move. >> Any discussion? Thank you to those organizations for donating. All in favor? >> I opposed passes 5-0. >> I need a motion to approve the standard workday for employees resolution. >> So moved. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> Just that this is required for any new position for the district and this is a new position. >> Okay. Thank you. All in favor? opposed. Passes 5 Z. Uh, I need a motion to approve the agreement
078between the Williamson Central School District and employee effective July 1st, 2026 through June 30th, 2028. >> So move. >> Second. >> Any discussion? >> All in favor? I >> oppose. passes 5 Z. I need a motion to approve the first reading of the of the policies listed. >> So move second. >> Any discussion? Thanks for putting it all together for this meeting. Kelly, >> that was no easy task for me. >> And thanks Bridget for keeping us focused to get that done this year. All in favor? >> I opposed. Passes. 5 Z. I need a motion to approve the removal of the policy as listed. >> So moved. Second. >> Any discussion? All in favor? >> I opposed. Passes. 5. Um, we have some budget transfers. Penny, anything we need to note? Okay. Um, upcoming
079district committee meetings. There's a curriculum council meeting on June 11th at 3:30 at the elementary school. And upcoming district events, there's a long list because it's that time of year. The seventh and eighth grade spring concert is May 28th at 7 o'clock in the middle school. Uh, Friday, middle school and high school interims are available. The first kindergarten, first and second grade festival of the arts is June 2nd at 5:30. And then third and fourth grade is June 4th at 5:30. Both at the elementary school. Also June 4th is the high school spring concert here at 7:00. The seniors with seniors breakfast is Friday, June 5th at 7:30 at the high school. And grandparents day is also June 5th at 9:00 a.m. at the elementary school. The senior cross trip is June 7th through the
0809th in Philadelphia. The concert makeup date for the various schools is June 9th, but hopefully you don't need to use that. Junior and senior awards night is June 10th at 6 o'clock here at the high school. Breakfast of champions is also here at the high school on June 12th at 7:30. Uh elementary school flag day celebration is that afternoon at 2 o'clock. The spring season athletic celebration is June 15th at six o'clock here at the high school. The Wayne Tekken Career Center completion ceremonies are June 16th and 17th at 6 o'clock. And then elementary school field days is June 17th at the elementary school board of ed highlights. Um, I just want to say, although it's already been said by I think Bridget and Penny, but thank you to our community um, for coming out
081and supporting the work of the district with a successful budget vote on all four propositions. And thank you for trusting Jeff and I to serve another three years. Um, and thank you to Bridget, Penny, and the entirety of the team for all the work you guys have done for many, many, many months now to make that all possible and come to fruition. Anybody else have any highlights? There is no public here, so I am not going to ask for public comment. Our public all left. So I need a motion to adjourn to executive session. >> I move to adjourn to executive session >> collective negotiation. No employment history of particular person or corporation >> litigation. >> I think so. All in favor >> I >> say everyone.
