001I call the regular board meeting to order. All members of the board are present except exopicio student board members Craconis, Maurice, and Herba. Mr. Pascalia, would you please lead us in the pledge of allegiance to the flag? Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. May I have a motion to recess into executive session to discuss employment matters relating to particular persons and proposed litigation? Dr. Spicer, Miss Fletch, all in favor. Motion carries unanimously. [Music] all the way to the way to go. May I have a motion to return the regular board meeting to public session? Mr. Mana, Miss Fletch, all in favor? Motion carries unanimously. I call the regular board meeting to order.
002All board members are present. During the immediately preceding executive session, our board discussed separation agreements, general releases, and resignation of a particular person. May I have a motion on these items? I need someone to read the motion. Who is prepared to read the motion? Mr. Mr. Mana asked me to be prepared, but I am prepared now. Um, I move the adoption of the following resolution. Resolve that the board of education of the Williamsville Central School District upon the recommendation of the superintendent of schools hereby approves the separation agreement and general releases discussed during the immediately preceding executive session including the resignation of the identified staff to become effective as of September 1st, 2025. Okay. So I the motion by Mr. Man. May I have a second, please? Miss Puland. All in favor? Motion carries unanimously.
003Good evening and welcome to all in attendance, including our recently appointed acting assistant superintendent for finance and management services, Dr. Chris McInley. We hope [Applause] we hope everyone had a strong start to the new school year. Please be advised that in the event of a fire emergency and an evacuation should be necessary and an alarm will sound. Please know all marked emergency exits and evacuate well away from the building. At this time, we request that everyone turn their cell phones and other electronic devices to silent. Thank you. We are now on item 3A, board acknowledgements. Do any board members have acknowledgements they wish to share this evening? All right, that makes it quick. We are now on item number four. Did we have anyone signed up for public expression? No. Okay, we're moving on then.
004So, Dr. Brown Hall, we're at you already. I turn over to you for the community update, math presentation, and preliminary elementary class size report. Thank you very much, board president. So, exciting times as we start the 2526 school year. Get the clicker. There we go. First days of school. So, as you can see, there was excitement throughout the district for the first days of school. Prior to the start of school, we did have some interesting news stories. Channel 2 News did a special feature on the portrait of a graduate. That is exactly what we had our administrator retreat focus on this year, the new portrait of a graduate. There'll be more information coming out this year about portrait of a graduate and what that looks like not only in New York State, but it will
005look what it will look like in the Williamsville Central School District and we'll be doing our superintendent speaker series featured on that. So that was prior to the start of school. We also had a WBEN radio interview regarding school safety. You'll see in the lower right hand corner that was early on Tuesday, September 2nd, the first day of school, Channel 4 broadcast live from Williamsville North parking lot. So, we want to thank Principal Bowen for allowing that to occur and we were on all morning long. The students were so excited. They're all engaged on the first day. The excitement for an entire week of students getting back into the swing of things and we love the routine of the fall. So, we had a very good start to the school year. Transportation is working well
006now. The My Ride app is working well. So, it was a great start to the school school to the school year last week. Distraction-free school zone. So, this is what everyone's talking about now. I know channel 2 did a special feature today on distraction-free school zones and we have all of our procedures and processes on our distractionfree school zone web page. We did a lot of education with our community members, our faculty members, our students also. We shared a lot of information from the time the board adopted the policy earlier this year. As you remember, elementary schools devices must be stored in the home room teachers designated storage space and middle and high school devices must be stored in the locked locker. So, I had the benefit of visiting all our schools last week and
007I went around to our high schools specifically asking how the implementation was going and there were positive reports at all of our schools and I think our student board members will will be speaking about that a little bit later. Transportation. So, a sincere thank you to our transportation department, our parents, our guardians for your patience or our faculty and staff for getting our students on the correct buses and staying later the first few days of school. We do understand that if a bus is late that it creates a ripple effect, but we thank our faculty and staff members who stayed just to make sure all the students got on the correct buses. And we also want to thank our bus drivers. It takes a lot to learn the roots when you have a bus full
008of students, but our bus drivers are experienced and they have a lot of patience and they got all of our students home safely. Daily bus information is available on Wix. And again, as I said before, the My Ride app, which is the mobile app, it utilizes a new routing system and so we are very, very excited about that. If your child rides a bus, please ensure they know where their pickup and drop off locations are. And please review policy 5710 regarding our transportation program. I know that'll come up later in the board meeting. Also, if you have questions regarding arrival and dismissal procedures at your school, please contact your building administrators. The elementary AC project. So, the elementary school AC project for phase one and phase 2 schools, we are proud to announce that it
009is ahead of schedule. We will work and the work will continue during the school year. So teachers and staff will utilize temporary classroom spaces to maintain continuity continuity of instruction. But as you see from the picture, um this was a picture taken by our acting assistant superintendent uh finance and management services. You'll see a lot of the work that is already taking place in our school buildings to make sure that this project stays on schedule and we're a little bit ahead of schedule now also. So a question came up of how can we do this type of uh capital project while school is in session and we know that our teachers will be utilizing swing space. So when work needs to take place in a classroom the teachers will move to a temporary classroom for
010a period of four or five days until the work is complete in that classroom and then they will move back universal meals. So thank you to our child nutrition department. All students are able to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day. Right now, the selections will be limited until we get a handle on how many students will be eating breakfast and lunch. And then we will add to the menu as we continue throughout the school year. But yes, every student I know my brother-in-law said, "Let me get this straight. I don't have to put money on their cards anymore for breakfast and lunch." You do not. Every student is allowed one free breakfast and one free lunch. But we do want to also still encourage you to complete the application for free
011and reduced lunch. That also helps if students have waiverss for like AP exams or anything that we have to actually reference the free and reduced lunch application process. School safety. Um we are very very pleased with the partnership we have with the Amherst Police Department and the Terry Security Group, formerly the Vista Security Group. You know that we take safety and security of our students, our staff members, our faculty members very seriously. So the district actually completed the construction project and you'll look at all of our school buildings have had the additional vestibule in place and that was completed in 2024. So anyone entering a school building is kept in a holding vestibule and they don't have access right into the school building. That construction project was completed in 2024. We added the Raptor visitor
012management system in 2023. So anyone coming into our buildings have to have governmentissued ID and that is put through the Raptor visitor management system just to make sure they're able to be on our school premises. Last year we implemented zero eye security. So if anyone has any type of gun that is brandished, that system will pick up and notifies the Amherst Police Department immediately because we know that suckings count. And last year we implemented the see something, say something anonymous reporting system. We have a lot of information about that online and our students actually go through a training on how to use that system and we as district administrators, principles, staff in the building get notifications of when a report is filed, our principal prep program. So, what we've noticed throughout the years is that
013we have assistant principles in our district that want to become principles in our district. So we've developed a grow your own program and we've titled it the principal prep program. So it's designed to prepare aspiring school principles for the challenges and responsibilities of school leadership. So the elig eligibility is a minimum of two years of service as an assistant principal. The curriculum will focus on leadership skills, education, law, budgeting, community engagement, curriculum development, staff management, and student support, as well as including the Wingsville Central School District strategic plan and our diversity, equity, and inclusion plan. So, this is a 10-month program. The kickoff is later this month, and we are very pleased with the number of individuals who are assistant principles in our district that are interested. We are keeping a small cohort of six
014each year and we're happy to um report that we do have a lot of interest in the program. So Dr. Balman and the directors of the program is Principal Boardman and Dr. Wall the principal at Transit Middle School, they will be um meeting to actually finalize all the details of the program. Our district community forum where community members are able to actually speak to our board of education directly. That will be on Saturday, November 1st from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Williamsville South High School. So, the board of education and superintendent will be on hand to discuss and address comments and questions from the school community. There's no set agenda. So, if there's a concern or a question you might have, that's the time to engage with the board of education. We can't do it
015at a board meeting, but that is the time during the community forums. The board holds a community forum in the fall and in the spring. Just a reminder that September 11th is this coming week and it's something that as you see from this graphic we will never forget. So we will definitely in our school buildings be acknowledging and that is a community update for the September. Are there any questions regarding the community update board members? Dr. Singh just one like you said uh our air conditioning is ahead of schedule. Yes. When do you think we'll finish that? Um that's a good question. We do have a phased finish. So I believe 2027 is the first phase of finishing. All right. Yes. DSP was the see something and say something. Was that only for high school
016or No, that's that's districtwide. The anonymous reporting system is districtwide. All right. Thank you. Absolutely. Our next item, we have a curriculum update. So, what we did last year with the superintendent speaker series, it was curriculum focused. And so, this year we have a curriculum update on our math program, our curriculum program, our math program. So, I will invite our assistant superintendent, our acting assistant superintendent of finance, who is formerly our district's director of mathematics and our chief academic officer, our assistant superintendent of curriculum instruction. both Dr. Marie Balon and Dr. Chris McInley to the podium. Thank you. We just wanted to say thank you um to Dr. Brown Hall. Thank you to the board and we look forward to presenting this evening. Dr. McInley, thank you very much. Thank you very much. It's a
017pleasure to be here tonight to showcase some of the remarkable work that we do in our schools every single day and uh what really sets us apart in mathematics almost as a national leader. So long before we heard of portrait of a student under the leadership of Dr. Marie Balon, we began looking at developing competencies in students. And for about the past 10 years or so, we have really focused our mathematics curriculum in developing these five competencies that you see here. Number sense, visualization, generalization, metacognition, and communication. These competencies are will serve our students across all grade levels and beyond high school with these skills. And there's no better way to really see these come uh to fruition and in action than through this video that we're going to play for you [Music] in Williamsville.
018You know, we're dedicated to creating dynamic and responsive classrooms that meet the needs of all students. You know, we know that thinking is a necessary precursor to learning. And so with this in mind, you know, we engage students in practices that promote critical thinking and encourage sustained focus. One effective approach we use is having students collaborate in groups while working on whiteboards. This interactive method fosters deeper thinking and enhances engagement. What do these words mean? Oh, what do these words mean? Yeah, what do they mean? Um, pre-image means like it's that regular shape, but then uh uh image means like where like you're projecting it. Exactly. Yeah, getting them up at the whiteboards, right, allows you to accomplish all of the goals that you normally accomplish with having them do work at their seats, plus
019tons of other, you know, catalysts, I would say, for student thinking, uh, advanced processing and just kind of having their brains on for a higher percentage of the time, right? The golden ticket of teaching is knowing what your students are thinking. And then we do that multiply by seven by seven by seven. Perfect. Come on. All right. So guys, what's the bouncing group to group? You're just learning about how kids think about math. The students are sharing their ideas with each other verbally. You know, they have the whiteboard space to kind of share their ideas in a symbolic or pictorial, but either way, a visual way, kind of a common space. And so it's like this a beautiful combination of like rigor thinking and like fun and social interactions that kids need. It's buzzing, right?
020And it's buzzing with active intellectual energy. 2x + 6. Honestly, it's just been really eye opening because I truly do get to hear from almost every single kid every class what they're thinking, how they're thinking. All right, explain to me what we did up here. It's really nice to like move around. One of my favorite class is math because like we could do these stuff. When you have to process through something, you remember it so much better. When they're up on the board, you are catching them in the moment. They are talking through problems and the more I hear and I'm like, "Oh, they're getting loud." I'm like, "Oh, no. They're just talking about math." But now I get to see like these, like you said, light bulbs going on in these kids. And I
021get to see actual daily growth in kids. It's a lot better because it's like more engaging and we really like feel like we're figuring it out. We also get to be moving more when we're up rather than being like cramped at a desk. So, I think we just get a lot more like movement and it really helps us solve the problem and it makes it a lot less stressful. The kids truly enjoy the freedom of just being able to do math at their speed, you know, with other people and their their grades, their knowledge has truly shown that they are really learning and doing higher level thinking all the time. Sensemaking then is really at the heart of our approach. It's about understanding the why and the how behind the math. Uh we begin this
022sensemaking process through hands-on experiences where students can engage directly with the material and visualize abstract concepts in concrete ways. Uh these experiences not only help students develop structure um and strategies but also enhance their ability to visualize and generalize mathematical ideas. Uh as they do so they build their confidence and strengthen their skills in the other competencies such as number sense and communication [Music] harder. If you put a five on each side I can put a five. I think I have and like another five. And what's five and five? 10. So I can stack that up. So what you are about to see when you walk in the classroom is a situation or a story that was told to the students where they needed to build a house for an animal. And in particular, this
023house had to be built with walls that were only 10 blocks tall. This was to have students practice and create ways to make 10, which is a foundational lesson for first graders to be able to make 10. They need to be able to see that and be su so they can be successful in um other more difficult concepts that come. I think I need a little bit longer of a wall and maybe some sides. What do you think, Camille? Eight and two. Okay. So, I'm going to take my eight I'm going to find my two. Is that 10? Yes. Okay. Kids at this age, they need manipulatives. And the math stackers are so great because there's so many different ways that you can see that 10 is 10 or that six is six, right? They
024can see the size. They can see the number. They can count the lines on the side. They can compare them to other numbers. So it lends itself very easily to building number sense, building number fluency 1 through 10 and then stacking them to to make equations and do different challenges like the challenge they did today. 9 + 1 what equals 10. Oh, so I could say 9 joined with one is the same as 10. Could you capture that thinking? It's another one. Go for it. You don't need me. That was funny. Then it also allows me to see like, okay, who's really getting this? who's also seeing like, "Wow, I can put three numbers together. Oh, I need a I need two more. Oh my gosh, I don't have a two, but I have one
025and one." I can really see like the problem solving happening in real time. So, the 10, you have to match with the 10. See how it matches with nine and one. 6 2 6 2 matches with 10. So, if you get the 10, does it match? Yes. Sandy Atkins tells us that that it's not just hands-on, it's minds. And so it's not just about the blocks that are in their hands, but it's about what happens when the blocks are in their hands. The conversation that they're having, the collaborative work. Students aren't just stacking blocks. They're reasoning, they're problem solving, and they're justifying. And when you're asking students to build 10 different ways, you're en you're encouraging their the flexibility with numbers and being able to use numbers in many different ways, which is what we
026want our students to be able to do. So, while a big part of mathematics is developing these foundational computation skills, in Williamsville, we also focus on demonstrating how these concepts apply in practical situations. Uh this approach helps to build students confidence and empowers them to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways both inside and outside of school. [Music] So Tener, could you use your eyes to tell us what's in that jar or how many? Three. Great in the jar. Three are in the jar. And how many jars are there? Eight. Aha. So, there are eight jars. Each one has three. You and your partner are going to find out, well, then how many of those pencil grips are there all together? Our uh multiplication store is called Discount Part. And as we start our multiplication unit,
027it's always nice to have some type of experience that students can look back at and use to help them think about the math. We always talk about making math itself like relevant. and why are we actually doing 6 * 7 and this uh store itself helps students to visualize equal groups and efficiently solve those equal groups. Traditionally math has been about teacher telling and student mimicking and one thing that research tells us about the student mimicking is it's not easily retained. So we are taking memorable versus memorization and we're moving away from memorization being associated with the study of mathematics and instead mathematics is an inquirybased science. It's student discovery, student exploration, student ahas um and students making connections in the entire world of mathematics. Can you be the spokesperson and tell us how we
028know? This is eight. And this is Can I say thank you to you? The first group that found groups of four. I think one of the greatest benefits is that we are helping students develop into critical thinkers. Math is about let's find out. Math is about I can think about this. Math is about I can start to explore with models and I can find out for myself what makes sense. It's five in each one and three of them. For a lot of students, as they are interacting with the discount store or any of these hands-on experiences, they are growing their language that they use and use different types of questioning based off of where they are with their partners. Can you explain that more? How did you get to that? Where do you see that
029number? Where do you see that group? I did 24 would have been easier was 24 * 2, but I did it this way. 48. Okay. So, how do you know that two groups of 24 is 48? Cuz um two of 2 * 10 = 20 and then 20 + 20 = 40 and then um two uh 2 * 4 is 8. So, you doubled the 10's place and the ones place to help you get to that. Awesome. You may move on to the next station. With setting up this grocery store experience, there's multiple goals and one of them is making sure that students know that math is everywhere. No matter what um you end up doing in your future, no matter where you are, you are using math to help you navigate your day. And
030seeing a grocery store, something that even you know an eight or nineyear-old, they're not shopping themselves, but maybe they visited with a family member. They have experience knowing that this is relevant to their own life, whether it's relevant now or relevant in the future. And with that relevance, understanding that it is important to them, they're more motivated to learn and more mo motivated to be involved in the activity. After they've had this experience in the grocery store, it becomes that class's anchor experience, one of many, so that as a child is perhaps exploring a a new level or something similar, the class can say, "Oh, that's like at our grocery store." And that is that shared common experience. So when we refer back to that grocery store, not only is it a shared common experience,
031but it was also a high confidence experience, low anxiety, hopefully no anxiety, then that can also bring that emotion back. Oh yeah, that I did do that. I did do that thinking at the grocery store. Yeah, I can do it again with this picture. Yeah, I can do it again with an abstract. I can do it again with this story. So this shared anchor experience can really be a wonderful foundation that you revisit when it's relevant. Just in closing, we wanted to make sure that everyone knew the video will be available as part of our presentation online. Um we also have a slide uh which is the last part of the presentation that shows a link to our district website. This features all of our curriculum areas including in the office of instruction including mathematics
032web pages. Um that one also has grade level bands and links to supporting math at home um andformational resources as well as games to play with um our children. Uh also we included the link for our accelerated coursework page for middle and high school. This includes robust information on the math pathways and opportunities. And last but not least, the full video from the speaker series that Dr. Dr. Brown Hall mentioned just a few moments ago, uh there was a full presentation on math and computer science. In closing, I just wanted to say thank you and express my gratitude to Dr. McInley. Um as you can see, mathematics and computer science, a very robust programs in our school district. Um there's a very very comprehensive um articulation of all of these programs on our website. We
033hope that our community will visit that. But thank you to Dr. McInley because this is a decade and a half of outstanding work that he's done with our teachers and our school community. So I wish to thank him for that. So we're happy to answer any questions that anyone may have. Any questions board members? Amazing presentation. Thank you. Thank you very much. [Applause] Last but not least in the board packet in the board agenda is item 5C. Item 5C C is the preliminary elementary class size report. Our board of education has historically been very concerned in making sure our class sizes do not get too large so that instruction does not become affected in the classroom. So years ago, the board of education created ranges for our elementary class sizes. Those ranges you can see
034in the document in item 5C. You can also see because the board in uh a way of transparency wanted to make sure this report is provided at the beginning of school every year. So you can see every elementary excuse me every elementary and middle school the grade and the average class size. You will see that all of our class sizes are within range some below range. We do have one uh grade level at one of our schools that is above range. And what we do there is we provide additional aid support so that the student teacher ratio is still maintained in those classes. So that full report is item 5C in board docs. Are there any questions regarding the elementary class size report, preliminary class size report. Board members, I'll turn it back over to
035you. President, I'm sorry. No, just one question. Do you expect these numbers to change? They change throughout the year. They they and the reason they change throughout the year, we do have families that move in and out. They don't change drastically like you won't see a huge, you know, five average swing, but the numbers do change in and out uh throughout the year. Any other questions? Okay, we are moving on then to item 6A. Our onboarding committee met last week to discuss providing a mentor for our three student board members. Um, Miss Blackinger, can you please uh discuss the committee's recommendation? Yes, we recommended that the current liaison for the SIAK lead will be the mentor for all three students. Okay. So, did everyone hear that? So, the SCAK mentor would be um and I
036my understanding is that you we were considering this annually to annually appoint our SIAK liaison to be the one mentor for the three student board members. Is that correct? Okay. So, may I have a motion to approve the committee's recommendation to annually appoint our SCAK liaison as the mentor for our student board members? Mr. Mana, Dr. Spicer. Is there any discussion? All in favor? Motion carries unanimously. We are now on item 6B, which is our student board member update and report. So would any of our student board members like to provide an update? Well, why don't we go down the table? Does that work? Okay, go ahead. So, first I would like to give a couple of shoutouts and then updates. First, the weightlifting. Can I interrupt one moment? Absolutely. ESP is our student board
037member at South High School. I just want to make sure make it clear for anyone watching. Thank you. Absolutely. First, the weightlifting club is running its very first clinic of the year this Friday, September 12th. Basically, what it'll be is it's for beginners who want to learn how to lift and they'll teach you also a bit about nutrition. And after the football season, they will also have merch dropping and all the money goes right back into improving the weight room, which everybody uses like all sports like football, soccer, whatever. And they al they also have turf in there now. Our weightlifting room. Yeah. Next, I want to highlight our culture and diversity club. They put in a lot of work over the year with fundraisers and stuff. And one of the girls, which is a
038junior now, Fisa FEL, has even started her own Hannah business. Other than that, some of the updates would be the senior sunrise. I got to see like all those um I don't drive a car myself yet, but I got to see like all the cars being decorated with 2026 graduating years. It was it was honestly beautiful. Awesome. And then on the phone policy, seeing it myself like into play and also talking to teachers, I have not seen a single phone out. Awesome. And the kids are actually now like talking to each other and any chance they get like they interact with each other. I honestly thought like a strict approach was the only way to get these kind of results. But this policy like put the trust in the students first where they would be
039trusted to put their phones in the locker and and it worked, you know, and I think it really showed what kind of group of kids we have here and that they can be trusted. Great. Yeah. And the last thing is South will be also adding board games in their cafeteria. Awesome. Yeah. Thank you so much. Yeah. Now we have Sil Kaharnes from East. Uh good evening everyone. Uh my name is Sil. I'm the representative for Williamso East. So I just want to talk about like first of all the phone policy the distraction-free school zone that's been like a huge change to everyone's like routine. So but I've been talking to people students teachers alike and I'd say overall they've noticed some positive effects as teachers have said students are much more present in the classroom.
040They're more engaged, more active like in learnings and they're building stronger emotional and social connections. Like I even had a teacher uh walk up to me and say she can notice the kids are smiling at each other even more, which is always nice to hear. As for the students themselves, they've obviously told me that they'd need time to get used to this change as it's like, you know, a big part of their routine that used to be last year, but without their phones, they said they'd be able to manage, but they need time to just shift. Uh their main concerns were not being able to use personal devices such as laptops to do like other work outside of school perhaps, but as part of like the internet enabled devices, they aren't allowed to use those.
041And so our school library, it offers Chromebooks that you could check out. However, East has already run out of Chromebooks that you can check out. So the library is trying to come up with a solution to that. The library is also taking more measures such as they have a motto that says no phone no problem where they put board games such as sudoku, checkers, mcala to encourage more inperson awesome in um inerson interaction. And on top of that, the school wellness committee, what they've done is they've prepared or they are preparing a wellness cart in the commons to play sport games. And they've already put like I'd say word hunts and like crosswords like nonphone, non- internet activities so that students can, you know, just like have something to be engaged in if they have
042a free period in the comments. But other than that, um I'd say students have begun they've brought their own games such as maybe a deck of cards that they play with their friends down in the comments. But like DSP says, I think there's a lot of respect that the school has for the students and there's a lot of trust where they trust the students not to use their phones and they don't have to take them away from them and put them in a pouch, which I think also is the reason why students are so accepting of the policy. And outside of the classroom, I'd say East is just buzzing with activity. All sports are in full swing now. Lacrosse, football, everything. It's on it's on the uprise. And the choir, it sings at every Williams
043football home game. And even clubs such as, let's say, HOSA, FBA, newspaper club, chess club, they've all begun recruiting members. And so there's a club for really everyone to try out. So there's something for everyone, I'd say. And as for upcoming events, we have Williams East Homecoming week is from October 6th to October 11th. And the biggest thing I'd like to note is the Taste of East bonfire which is held outdoors on October 9th and I encourage everyone to attend that is it's truly wonderful as every club from Williams East has a sort of table that they set up and they sell their own food or dish and they all promote uh this is all raised for fundraisers and stuff like that. So this is a great way to support clubs and I invite everyone
044to just take part in it as it's a great experience. Awesome. Thank you so much. Uh, now we I have Jazelle Maurice from North. Hello everyone. Good evening. My name is Jazelle Maurice. I'm the student rep at Williamsville North. And like everyone else, uh, fall is very busy with a bunch of events and, uh, back to school. So, as uh, some of you may know, North is very involved in Unified, which is a sports movement that involves all students of all physical abilities, gender, uh, etc., and kind of just getting together. So, uh, Unified volleyball is in session and should be having the first game at the end of September. But Williams North is a pilot uh school of a new uh sport called botchi ball or not new sport but a new unified event
045called botchi ball. So they're recruiting students and hopefully that if they have enough uh it'll spread to other schools and that along with volleyball we'll have uh botchi ball and I know in the winter we also have basketball and then a few other sports I believe. Um I'm sorry. Bowling. Bowling. Yes. Thank you. Bowling in the winter. Yes. Yes. in basketball in the spring. Thank you. Um, furthermore, a junior at Williams North, Miles Catsman, just started a new club called the Sports Management Club, which is kind of the behind the scenes of sports. And they've been working with our athletic director as well as assistant principles, Miss Tong, uh, and hopefully getting students involved that are interested in sports management, but also the health side of sports and working with our, uh, athletic trainer, Lucas,
046and kind of getting students in like a hands-on role uh, to explore this career. Uh, furthermore, we're having a new campaign called the Be Good, Dog Good Campaign, which is modeled off of Josh Allen's MVP speech where he says, uh, be good, do good, but our version is be good, do good, go Spartans. So, every every Tuesday, or sorry, the first Tuesday of every month, we be good Tuesday. And student council will be having various activities to promote positivity, service, and community building. And we'll also be selling uh on the online spirit store be good, do good goat spares shirts to wear on spirit Fridays. Uh, and Will North is definitely a communitydriven. So, this will kind of bring us all together through something that we're all kind of connected through, uh, the Buffalo Bills,
047uh, and hopefully, uh, incl. Uh, during homecoming week, uh, all of our C athletes are invited to him elementary to read books to students there. Uh, I'm myself will be participating, uh, and kind of just grow the community between schools. And that's kind of what we're kind of pushing through having student board members. Uh not having divided districts or sorry divided high schools and not having divided high schools, elementary schools. So through this movement, we'll also be increasing spirit during homecoming week, but also connecting with our younger students. And to kind of piggyback off of what Celon DSP said, uh the distraction free uh has been going amazing at Williams North. Uh like always, it's going to be hard to get a bunch of high school students on board, but I'd say it's been going
048pretty well. Uh there's been a few uh reminders I'd say the first two days like of students kind of forgetting to put their phones in lockers, but aside from that, I'd say it's been going pretty well. I've also noticed in the hallways it's a lot clearer with like less traffic because no one's really staring at their phones as much. But aside from that, I would say that the community aspect has been great. Uh getting it to talk to people, but also the teachers also been doing a great job at kind of setting an example. I know a lot of teachers have uh I guess like put a restriction on themselves to avoid using their phones or uh non-school sanctioned devices during the school day and kind of like leading as examples so that students are
049tempted in a way to take out their Apple watches or phones or uh other devices and unlike uh Cel said we have been doing pretty good as far as Chromebooks and uh getting students to use that during their free periods or study halls. I know our uh computer lab and library is fully stocked with Chromebooks as well as our uh I'm sorry uh uh desktops. Um and then our homecoming week starts next Monday with our new uh I guess pep rally on Monday where we're supposed to be uh having a bunch of activities such as a singalong contest, hulhoof contest to start the week off strong and then our pep rally on Friday followed by our homecoming game and homecoming dance. a lot of exciting events and new clubs and uh new things in stock
050for North. Thank you so much. Thanks to all three of you for those amazing reports. We really appreciate hearing about all the activities that are going on at each of your schools and hearing a little bit about how things are going with the new policy implementation. So, thank you for sharing that. Um do any of our board members have anything to discuss related to our student board members before we move on to the next topic? Dr. sing. I mean, I spoke to Principal Swenson yesterday and he said, "Your comments has become very noisy now." I think yeah, there's a lot of people who are just talking to each other more. That's part of like the social interaction that I think the whole like teachers, they've noticed that as well. Dr. Spicer, I have two questions
051um for y'all, but they're not hard. Uh so, the first one is you mentioned a lot of club activities. How do students find out about what clubs are doing in your schools? Anyone can answer. I can share for myself. I know a lot of clubs have uh their uh meetings announced on our announcements in the morning at least two days prior, but I know a lot of clubs also have Instagram pages or other social media pages so that they're able to be posted in advance and uh spread the word throughout. And also a lot of clubs are on Remind where all club members are able to join the Remind and get reminders throughout the week and throughout the month when meetings are upcoming. Yeah, I'd say uh Williams East a lot of clubs they have
052we have like they put up posters and like throughout the halls that students can look at and obviously on which they also have like a school clubs page where every club gets updated but even if students don't check those we have like TV screens in our school that show like uh constant updates about new club meetings and I know even like members people from let's say FBA they uh certain members from FBA they'll go into business classes and they'll give like a quick speech about FLA and like why you should join which is what some of the more larger clubs do and then Google classroom and remind like Jazelle said those are also ways they communicate with old and that's how they recruit new members other than what both of them said um we have
053South does have all those things and another thing we also have like a Billy's broadcast club which basically like is connected with all the clubs and reports reports on like what's happening so it's just one page you need to follow on Instagram and it tells you about everything that's happening. Okay. Thank you. And can I ask my second question? Is that all right? Thank you. Uh my second question, I'm just curious. You mentioned um the Chromebook thing and the library. Are you seeing different traffic patterns between the cafeteria, the library? Um as far as how students are occupying their time during breaks and lunches. Um, I'd say like uh the library, they've had like other than the Chromebooks, I'm seeing the they ran out of Chromebooks as in to take home or to use in
054other classes, but I know each class or most classes such as in like the science department, they have their own like Chromebook cart section that teachers are supposed to use for in-class activities, but they're not allowed to lend them out to students to use during their own time. But students always come up to the library and there's always Chromebooks available to like print information like print something. But um I'd say in the commons uh students like the if you check out a Chromebook from the library then they bring them down to the commons to do their work perhaps. That's what I was referring to. Got it. Thank you. I I want to add something. The only trouble we've had with Chromebooks is not being able to use them in cafeteria. And I heard from Jazelle
055they have like a computer lab. Maybe that will be a solution. I was just made aware today of it. I don't have any lunch period so I I didn't know about it ahead of time but yeah. Okay about it. Thank you all. Cool. Anything else before we move on? All right. Thank you all so much and thank you for the follow-up questions. Um we are now on item 6 C upcoming events. are we already talked about our board community forum which is November 1st and 9:00 a.m. at South Cafe. Our board retreat is December 3rd. Um our building visits are in board docs and if any board members are interested in attending, please make sure you put your availability in the shared doc that was sent to all of us. For item 6D, we are
056on our board goals and implementation plans. They are also in board docs for review. And I wanted to have volunteers as we have the past several years to monitor each of our five goals. So I'm looking for a volunteer for communication for wellness, community sustainability, teaching, learning, leadership, DEI, and board governance. So Mr. Mana had communication last couple years. I would be happy to take it again. Okay. So Mr. Manis volunteering for communication. I mean I can do DEI if Dr. Singh will do DEI. Do we have anyone for wellness or teaching, learning, and leadership? Wellness. Okay. Miss Blackshire, we'll do wellness and Mr. Bulan. No. Yeah, you go. No. Okay. Miss Puland. Are you I was going to say I would take Teaching, learning, and leadership. Do we have any volunteers for board governance,
057Miss Fletch? Okay. So we have volunteers for all five of our goals. Thank you all. Does anyone have anything to add to the implementation plan that is available in board docs? Okay. I just wanted to draw um our attention to under our board governance goal. One of the things is identifying areas for improvement and then trying to identify steps for improvement. And I know at our last board retreat we did talk about um the top two areas that we wanted to improve were working to increase an understanding of educational issues and to improve leadership skills. And then the second thing was completing a liaison report after each liaison assignment. So I don't know if there we kind of if there's any steps we can add related to each of those things or any other further
058discussion we want to have about that or we just want to have those at front mind this year. making sure that we are doing those things. Any discussion on that? Some a comment, Miss Fletch. Yeah. So, sometimes if there's two of us at an event, I know we both do a report. Is it okay if just one of us does a report? I think. Yeah. Okay. Absolutely. Um, if more than one board member is at an event, you can communicate with the other board members and just submit one report. That's absolutely thanks. Yes. Any other questions or comments regarding that? Okay, we will move on. We are on items 6E, ECASB, 6F, NISSBA, and 6G, the district-wide leaison assignments, and those are all listed in board docs. Does anyone have any comments related to any
059of those? Miss Puland in regard to the um guidelines and appointments for layers on assignments given the the newest establishment of the mentor relationship for the new uh student board members. I I am the SCAK representative so I will be that person for this year. Um, one of the things in all transparency is having a good method of communication that meets guidance for student safety. And so I would like us to look at what kinds of guard rails we want to put up with that. You know, I do have the flexibility that I can meet with the students at their school at any times, but how they communicate with me to let me know that they want to have that and how I communicate that to them is something we need a we need a
060vehicle for. Dr. Brown, do you have any thoughts about that? Not immediately. Okay. Um, let's let let me think about that because you know because you don't have a Wix mail account. I do. Well, I have a board with mail account. Okay. So, we we that may be the vehicle by which we do it. All right. Okay. Um so, let me think about that. At this moment, I don't have access to students. Right. So, if I because you would only need access to those three students, right? So, I think that would be easily accomplished. Okay. Okay. So, we'll get back to you on that. Thank you for bringing that up. Any other comments? Okay. We are moving on to correspondence. For correspondence, we received um emails on UPK equity, school safety, commending Forest Elementary School's
061open house, our student board member policy related to a survey, and bus safety. Um is there any discussion on the request for board members to complete a University of Delaware research survey regarding our student board member policy that I know several of us received? No, no discussion. Does are there any thoughts about whether one of us should complete that or we're just going to May I ask a question? Absolutely. I have we um checked with Erie County Association of School Boards or the New York State School Boards Association to see if this research study that is being completed by the University of Delaware is in line with the goals of New York State. I I would encourage us to get clearance from them first before completing it just to make sure it's not um in
062competition with what we have established in New York State and what we established as a district. Sure. So I guess the first question is was any board member even interested in completing it? Because it sounds like no one is. So I then maybe we don't need that's fine. Yes. in this pool in I was going to say um having in my family re professor researchers who work with graduate students on establishing research projects and so forth. I have a sensitivity to wanting to assist them if it's appropriate to do so. So I wouldn't mind doing that if we determine that it's an appropriate thing to do just because I know how hard it is for them to get data. So, the only thing I would say is I'm not sure we have the wealth of
063knowledge yet to do such a survey because with all due respect to you guys, we've only had them for like three meetings. So, I'm not sure we we're qualified to answer those questions. Well, we don't know what the question. Yeah, we don't. So, Miss Pulum, would you be willing to to look into I will be NISMA and seeing and then report back. I will do that. Wonderful. Okay, we can move on then. Um, we are on our consent agenda. May I have a motion to approve the agenda items eight minutes NISBA item and new business, nine personnel, 10 business and finance, 11, exceptional education, special needs and student activities. 12 instruction curriculum and 13 other business as presented. Miss Buckinger, Mr. Bulan. Is there any discussion? All in favor? Motion carried unanimously. We approved several
064new appointments this evening. Congratulations to the newly appointed assistant principal at Forest Elementary, Kaylee Gorge Gorgger. Georgia. Gorgger. Thank you. And assistant principal at North High School, Julie Zabro. Did I get that one right? Zorbro. Zorbro. Thank you, Julie. We are welcome you both to come up to the podium and say a few words at this time if you so choose. Good evening everyone. Thank you Dr. Brown Hall. Thank you board members for welcoming me into the Williamsville community. I'm so excited to be here. I'm um anxious to start my position at Forest and I just want to acknowledge all of the teachers and Principal Wing and my family who came to um support me tonight. So, it was so nice to meet everyone and I look forward to working with all of you in
065the coming weeks. Thank you so much. Awesome. Welcome aboard. Thank you. Thank you. [Applause] Hi. So nice to meet everybody. So I'm Julie Zio. Um I am beyond humbled and excited uh to join Williamsville and the North community. Thank you Dr. Brown Hall. Thank you to the interview community. U principal Bowen. I am so excited. Um this is my 23rd year in education and I am going to take my the knowledge that I have so far do my very best at North and for the the students of Williamsville Central School District. Thank you so much. I'm very excited. Congratulations. We're going to do some pictures. So, if you wouldn't mind, we usually do pictures right over here in front of the banner where the flags are. people. Okay. And Dr. Mcinley, I not don't mean
066to put you on the spot, but if you would like to say a few words as we welcomed you today as well, you are welcome to. Oh, absolutely. I'll just uh thank Dr. Brown Hall and the board for this opportunity to serve in this acting capacity. Uh I am humbled to be here and uh I will obviously do my best. And just on a personal note, just to know a little bit about myself, I have four children in the Williamsville schools here. Two at Heim Middle and two at Heim Elementary. So everything that we do here, I'm not only professionally invested, but personally connected to what we do in our vibrant community here. So it's an honor to be here and just thank you. That's great. Congratulations. Thank you. [Applause] photo. Oh yeah. Yeah. Photo
067app. Absolutely. Okay. And also this evening we want to thank the following retirees for their service to the district. Lisa Marian, community ed with 20 years of service. And Jean Rossi or Jamie Rossy, director, our district office, instructional media center with 30 and a half years of service. Congratulations. And [Applause] there are no matters to discuss under 14 facilities, 15 legislative matters, and 16 district policy updates. Does anyone have a topic to discuss under committee of the whole? Mr. Mana, thank you. Um, it's under the committee of the whole. It's to seek the attorney's opinion on the legality andor the process. the board of education members to receive some kind of re remuneration. I know it's not going to say that word properly, some kind of stipend. Um, you know, and I looked at other
068districts, you know, um, city school districts or even local elected officials and realized that, you know, this school board does everything that we do for for no pay, no benefits. Um, so I looked at the Buffalo School Board, for instance. Their school board members receive $28,000 per year and they do not care for the children of that district any more than this school board cares for the children in our district. And I'm sure we work just as hard as the board of ed members in the city of Buffalo. That's to give you like a benchmark of what a city school district does locally. Your your local Amherst Town Board member, they receive $35,000 a year. And I'm not saying any of these the these elected officials don't deserve it. Um Ammerst Town Board is $35,000
069a year plus approximately $2,000 a month if they take the uh health care. Plus they earn the state pension. I served eight years on the Ammerst Town Board and I can tell you firsthand that those elected officials do not work any harder for their constituents in the town than we do for this district. This board of ed spends as many hours and nights away from our families as the Amherst town board members do. So, you know what I'm what I'm asking the board to consider is really a two-part proposition. Could we and should we receive some kind of stipend? So the first part is to ask the one of the district's attorneys to research if this board of ed can receive some sort of some sort of stipend and if so what the process is
070and that would be the could we part after that answer we could create a committee of stakeholders and I'd be happy to chair that committee and we could model the model it after the student school board member election method committee use that as the template and the charter which I was very well put together. Uh, and they can recommend the should we part. This board of ed is free to accept, reject, or modify their recommendation. I don't think there's anything wrong with looking into this. We are an educational organization and should always look into doing something new. Just because something has been one way for years should not mean that it doesn't warrant looking into. I believe all work has values. Bo value board ends board ed stipens may lead to the recruitment of new
071candidates willing to run for this board of education. I believe that giving voters multiple candidates to choose from as their representatives is a good thing for democracy and retention of current and future board members who possess valuable institutional knowledge that cannot be easily replaced. That's all I have to say. Okay. I guess I'll make the motion if the motion is needed, but I I'll defer. Well, why don't is there any discussion at this point, Miss Pulin? Um, I have some grave concerns about broaching this topic um since I first learned of it being on our agenda because when we look into the possibility of doing something, it indicates a desire to do something. Um, as I have said before and continue to say, I have right here my mission beliefs and belief statements and the
072very first one of them says it's our highest priority and I don't think looking to get renumeration for myself as a board member is putting students is bettering the outcome for students. Um, we live in a community where our fire department is volunteers and I'm concerned about the message that we're giving to our students about the value of community engagement and community service which is part going to be part of our pathways project. Um, so I would not support this personally um for for those reasons. Any other discussion? Miss Blackinger? I think those are good points, Moren. Um, I also think it wouldn't hurt just to see what other districts are doing and what our legal staff would say about this subject. Miss Pullman, I will say I did I did check with both NISSBA
073and the ECASB, none of the school districts in the state, other than the five cities, big five big five districts which are by law required to pay their school board members, none of them currently pay the school board members. Anything else? Well, I'll speak again on on on my my uh motion. Um those are valid points and you know I don't think you know giving a board member a stipen which would probably be a fraction of what any other elected official gets to this community is taking away from students. When we give raises to administration or to teachers we don't consider that taking away from students. Um it I think it's time that it's looked into and the only reason that the cities get it is because they passed a local law or a law
074through the either that that city or through the state uh to allow them to give them give themselves some kind of stipend. Um again this district has never uh uh cut or taken away from students any year. every year the the student the budget for students increases and I I worry about I don't worry about the message of receiving a small stipen for the hours that we put in the the training that's required. I don't think students are going to look at us or anybody in this community is going to look at us in any other way. And if somebody says they want to run for this job because they're going to receive some kind of stipen, I would say it'll be the most work you do as an elected official in this county for
075the lowest pay in the county. So run for a position that gives you less work and more pay. Um, I think this helps the district again retaining board members and I'm sure if you talk to board members who after two terms said it's too much away for my family, I have to take another job because I have kids now going into college. They may have stayed and we could have retained that institutional knowledge. Maybe somebody who didn't want to run because there was no stipend and couldn't take the time away, didn't want to take the time away from their family says, "You know what? I'll run." And then uh it gives the voters more choice. And remember, if we form a committee of stakeholders, they can give us the recommendation. And board member Puland, I
076100% agree that is a consideration. This is not an easy thing to bring up because of of what you what what you mentioned. Um, but I think uh, and I'm not looking to make history here, you know, I think that some boards who have cut services and cut teachers, uh, maybe, you know, they can decide for themselves what they want to do, but the way this board has function and and the what we deliver this community, I think it's absolutely worth at least taking the first step and looking into it. Dr. spicy. Um, Miss Puland, just because you brought it up, I'm curious, do you know what the county or state conversations around? Like I I note that there are no other paid boards, but is there a conversation county or statewide at all? There's
077not. It's it's currently not legally viable for districts to do there. There has to be a legal process created and voted upon and approved by the local community to have that. So, um, none of them have broached that at this time. That's more what I was wondering is it obviously there would have to be a process, but has there been a discussion? Okay, Miss Fletch. Yeah, I just wanted to make a comment. Um, I think that I would be interested just to explore it and I I I really have enjoyed my time on the board and I do I'm grateful that I ran and I'm glad that I'm in the position I'm in, but I don't think a lot of people realize how much time does go into it. I think that people think, "Oh,
078it's one meeting a month." Um, because that's what some people, you know, said to me. And I would encourage you um and especially if you're thinking of running for the board, you know, you're looking at much more than that as along with time on weekends that you're preparing, you know, to read the agenda and you're going to trainings and you have your liaison assignments. I mean, this week alone, I have four meetings um relative to the school board, which is fine, but I don't think that the community necessarily does realize how much time and hours do go into it. So, I would be open to exploring it. I don't think there's any harm in it. Um, but I think I want to definitely say that, you know, just to to Moren's points, um, I do
079respect those and everything, but students are definitely they will be top of mind whether I'm getting a swipe in or not. I just wanted to throw that out there. Mr. Mano, did you want to make the a formal motion then? I did, but I'll make it again. Yeah, I just think the attorney's so it's just the attorney opinion at this point that we're that's on the correct me the whole because because if there is no could we then there's no should we okay I just want to clarify with you that that's all you were looking for I apologize for not making it clear that's no no worries so do we have a sec uh do we have a second before we Okay, Miss Fletch is the second okay is there any further discussion before we
080do our vote Mr. Biscalia? Sorry. Um, just thinking of everything that was said, being on the fence, I've had multiple parents ask me, "Oh, so you've been on the board for a while. What do you get for that?" And I go, "What do you mean, what do I get for that?" They like, "How much is it?" I've been asked that probably a hundred times over. And I said, "Nothing." And their answer is, "So, you're doing it for nothing?" And I said, "No, it's the, you know, I originally ran because I was a concerned constituent with things that were going on in the district that I felt were hurting students. Being a teacher, being in this profession, while also becoming a board member, I have never steered away from one thing. Making sure our students get
081the most um I don't even know the word I'm looking for. the most out of school, the most out of this district they can. I I grew up in this district. I went to Maple East, Mill, and South. Go Billies. Right. Um I convinced my wife to stay in Williamsville and not move to Syracuse because I knew what this district was. Um, but I've also got my hand slapped at home saying, "Why are you again have this? Why do you again have this?" For example, I'm going to a PTA meeting. I'm missing my son's JV soccer game. But I know that's important because those PTA members need to hear what's going on in the district. So, sitting on the fence originally, I don't think it's a harm in looking into it. I believe as time
082goes on and as times are changing that more districts will look into this. Um I've talked to friends in Cicero North Syracuse that have discussed this. There board members there that has discussed this. Um whether in public or not. Um I think as this gets deeper the way our country is going I think ultimately it's going to end up happening anyways. Um, and I don't think it's harmful to look into it, to look into what needs to be done. And then ultimately, it's not our decision anyways. If it goes to a vote, it's Ammer's decision. Okay. Just just one more just point of clarification on on the volunteer firefighters. I appreciate you bringing them up. When I was on the town board, I was liazison to the fire volunteer fire companies. And although they do
083not receive pay, they are entitled to what's called a LOAP. the length of service award program which will pay them maybe a couple hundred dollars a month after after they retire. So it is no direct pay but there is some small financial it's called an award the length of service award program uh later on right later on in life. Thank you and I just Mr. feeling. I just want to say I don't see any harm in looking into it. I that's not like a decisive thing. We have to find out if that it's possible, right? And that was my my one comment is um I believe in doing research before I make any decision. Um and so this would just to me be seeking a legal opinion is just doing some research on this topic.
084So now we will take a vote. All in favor of seeking the legal opinion. Miss Buckinger, Mr. Bulan, myself, Mr. Mana, Mr. Biscalia, Dr. Spicer, Dr. Singh, and Miss Fletch. Opposed, Miss Puland. And so it carries 81. Uh, we will move forward with getting the legal opinion. Thank you very much, Mr. Mana. Thank you, Madam President. And I had a topic also for community of the whole this evening. This basically came from some correspondence that we received and some also conversation that I've seen in the community uh regarding our policy 5710 transportation program and specifically our designated bus stops and some concerns about for currently our policy reads that designated bus stops and there are exceptions to this but generally are at fire hydrants or at corners and I know there were some concern about
085neighborhoods that maybe do not have sidewalks if that is the safest location for those designated bus stops to be. So what I am requesting is simply that we have this policy reviewed by our policy committee meeting to explore this and then come back with their recommendations at a future meeting. So my motion is to send policy 5710 regarding transportation program to the policy committee for review. Is there a second for that Dr. Spicer? And is there any discussion? Yes, DSP. Yeah, I wanted to say I ride the bus every day in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon and so far it's been more efficient than any other year I've been on the bus. So the the study is working. Thank you so much for that feedback. Appreciate it. Okay. So uh any other comments
086or questions? Okay. So we will vote. All in favor? Motion carries unanimously. We are now on item or I'm sorry were there any other committee of the whole? I'm sorry Dr. Singh. Go ahead Dr. Singh. There was a question that came up at the PTESA meeting at uh east yesterday about how much communication or emails can go out from the school regarding events conducted by the PTSA. And I think till last year at East the PTSA would send out emails to the administration of East and now the rules have changed or being implemented now. So they wanted more uh information or clarification regarding that. Absolutely. And I I appreciate that question. So there was communication that was sent June 2025 to the PTSA council presidents and they disseminated that information to the PTA and PTSA
087council presidents at the individual schools. And that information I know was reviewed. We're going to rescend it out to the administrators to the board and so that the Andelle Osuno who is the PTSA council president will also resend it to the PTAs and PTSAs. What we want to make sure we do though is make sure we're not advertising. You can send notification through Wix. What we're looking to do also is set up individual PTA or PTSA Wix accounts that they can send the information from those accounts. We don't want to confuse PTA or PTSA information um coming from that organization with administrator information, right? Because the administrator information sometimes we want to make sure that that still raises to the level of seriousness coming from an administrator and it doesn't get confused with just an
088announcement, right? So, we're trying to make sure we we we have clear lines for that. But we also want to be very mindful that parents sometimes get a lot of communication, right? So we don't want to inundate with parents with communication. We we just met uh with the the PTSA council meet and greet with a parent that had a student at Country Parkway at Transit and at East High School. So we want to be careful because if there's too much communication, then parents will turn that off also, right? So we want to I know it's a fine line, but we have to be very mindful on that. I will resend that communication out to all of our parties, all of our stakeholders, and we'll look at what vehicle we can use so that PTA and
089PTSA can communicate with parents, but also get administrator approval to do that. Thank you, Miss Fletch. I just want to make a comment if that I think that is a fabulous idea if the PTSA and the PTAs can have a witsmail account to do that because they do so much for every student. Um, you know, I under it's not a sports team where it's just for a select amount of students or a certain club. It's for the entire student population. And I think it's really important. So that would be so great because I know there was some concern last year, right, there would be no communication. So that's great. We ended up getting and thank you for that board member Fletch. We ended up getting additional legal advice and reviewed our policies again. And there
090is a section in the policies. I'm sorry I don't have the letter in front of me right now. I know I read it at the event earlier, but there is a section of the policy that allows for that because of the relationship we have with PTA and PTSA, but the concern is making sure that every event that's advertised, we are very mindful not to send too much communication, but also mindful that we indicate it is a PTA or PTSA event, not a district event. We have to make sure we make that distinction. Thank you. Absolutely. Anything else before we move on? Okay, we are now on item 18A, which is our second public expression. If there's anyone in the audience who would like to speak at this time, you may approach the podium. I do
091not see anyone approaching the podium. So, we are now on item 19. This concludes our regular board meeting. The next scheduled regular board meeting is October 14th. Is there a motion to adjourn the regular board meeting? Mr. Bulan, Dr. Spicer. All in favor? Motion carries unanimously. Thank you everyone and good night.
