All in favor? >> I oppose. >> Motion carried. >> Yep. Andrea is up first. >> Hard work, Joe. This is Andrea Castrino. Um she has been working with us this school year. She actually saved the
day um at the end of September. Um we were without a special education teacher and uh so she came in and she agreed to to do the year with us and uh we knew right away that she was an amazing fit. She's awesome with the kids. She's super knowledgeable. She's great at building relationships. She's an advocate for our special education students. All in favor? >> Opposed? >> Motion carried. Congratulations. board members. Next we have Madison, right? So, uh, Maddie has been teaching with us all
year. She's second grade teacher. Um, the first thing that you recognize about Maddie is you would have no idea that she just graduated college and this is her first year teaching. She is so knowledgeable beyond her years. Um, her classroom management, the way she builds relationships with students, it is so impressive. Everyone comes by the office like how long has Manny been teaching and it's like oh this is year one and she just uh does it all really really well. Um you can see the impact she has on the community is this is her posy right here. She's a coach in the community. Um they came out to support her today. Um she is really well loved. Um and you know she came in in September and I knew on second day she was like
no we need to have her forever. So she she's fabulous and we're lucky to have Manny with us. You guys here for the cupcakes? So, >> wait. There's a cupcake. >> Item P. 011receiving an ineffective APR rating in their final year of probation will not be eligible for tenure at any time. >> Can I have a motion? >> So move. >> A second. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> Oppos? Motion carried. All right, Dor. This is Emily Reed. Um, you probably could tell just then the thing that stands out about Emily is her positivity from the moment she walked in for the interview that came across loud and clear. She's a super positive person. Um she was the first person I saw leaving a lesson with kids, a demo lesson that they were trying to hug her at the end of the classroom. The kids love her. Um she's super knowledgeable. Um when I she's a building base right now at Sar Point when I called
her principal. Um we are prying her away. They are going to be super sad to to lose her. Um but it's our game. Um she's she's super knowledgeable. Uh I can tell she's just going to be a really positive addition to what's going on that way. Item F. Emily Reed is elementary teacher effective September 1st, 2026. Emily Reed is initially certified with childhood education birth through grade two and childhood education grades 1 through six credentials and appointed to the 10-year area of elementary education teacher with step one CB with benefits for the Wilson Teachers Association agreement. Have a second. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> I oppose. Motion carry. Congratulations. All right. So, this is Natalie Shrew. She um is currently a teacher in Bavia. So, she comes to us with a lot of great experience. Um funny story about her demo lesson. That was the day that in the town there were some power outages. So, she's doing a very stressful thing interviewing in front of a whole panel of kids. and she kept going like it was her classroom since day one. She calm, cool, collected. Um, so obviously,
you know, we could tell that that's something she would bring to her classroom every day. Also, what was super evident during the interviewing process is really strong classroom management skills and um, you know, the ability to to build relationships with students. So, Natalie has a lot of great experience. I know she's going to be an awesome fit for third grade. Item G. Natalie Stroop is elementary teacher effective September 1, 2026. Natalie Stroop is initially certified without childhood education grade 1 through six credentials and is appointed to the tenure area of elementary education teacher stepd teachers association agreement. Probationary employees receiving an ineffective APR rating in their final year of probation will not be eligible for 10 year. >> Did I have a motion? >> So move. >> A second. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> Oppose. Motion carried. All right, next we have Zachary Weber. Uh Zachary, fun story about him. So I do a screening to read a five minutes on movie with all the candidates that apply. And uh when we were talking, we we went through the questions and we got into his background that he has in science and I asked him because he's student teaching in first grade right now, right? First grade. And um I knew I had a fifth grade science job open,
but I couldn't tell him that exactly as at the moment. So I was like, "Okay, so you're doing first grade, but what would your preference be?" And we talked about fifth grade science because we be the very through the whole process. We just knew he'd be an awesome fit for as a fifth grade science teacher. He has that background knowledge in science that is known to be a huge asset for our students and every step along the way with every question that he would answer during the process, he kept bringing back to building relationships with students. So I think with our oldest fifth graders um he's going to be able to really connect with them and get them excited about science and that is something that we are super excited about. So I know Zachary
is going to be here for us Zachary Water is elementary teacher effective September 1st 2026 pending certification. Um, Zachary Weber is appointed to the 10-year area of elementary education teacher in step 1 CB with benefits per Wilson uh teachers association agreement. The appointment includes a 4-year probationary period of September 1st, 2026 through September 1st, 2030 or the first day of student attendance in September 2030. Probationary end date is contingent upon the indiv individual receiving an overall APR rating of effective or highly effective at least three of the four preceding years. Probationary employees receiving an ineffective APR rating in their final year probation will not be eligible for payment at that time. And I have a motion. >> So move a second. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? I oppose. Motion carried. GREAT. >>
Is Alexis healthy question? >> Yeah, we're staying with the elementary still. >> Yeah. So, um Alex need to appoint. >> Yes. Yeah. So, Alexis um is going to be our new speech pathologist. Um Alexis had such a calm demeanor throughout uh the interview process. Um nothing seemed to face she was talking about really difficult cases with speech. Something we've noticed um at least in my years in building is the cases in speech speech pathology are getting more and more difficult. The things they need to work on is very tricky. And I've always told every student pathologist they should have a doctor with with their title because all the anatomy and the things that they know and how how to fix super impressive but um Alexis came across as super knowledgeable. Like I said commentator she's
going to be a really good fit for item J. Alexis Royster a speech language pathologist effective September 1st 206. Alexis is certified in speech language pathology pathologist credentials and is appointed to the tenure area speech language pathologist at stop 1 C B6N with benefits for the Wilson Teachers Association. This appointment includes a 4-year probationary period beginning September 1st, 2026 through September 1st, 2030 for the first day of student attendance in September 2029. Can I have a motion? >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> I oppose. Motion carries. Congratulations. So before we talk about the nurses, I just kind of wanted to explain uh to the board how the nurse hire process went. So um Satie Walch is retiring at the end of the school year. So that position had to be placed. Mary
Campfield is retiring effective November 3rd. Um so we decided to do one hiring process at once. Liz Barnum, who is currently our float nurse, is going to be taking over for Sandy fulltime. So Liz Barnum, starting in September, is going to be at the middle high school. Obviously, we're still going to have Mary at the elementary school. So our wonders that we're hiring, uh, Heather, she is going to start September 1st. She eventually will be Mary's replacement, but for the first month and a half, Heather is going to be the float person. Then um when Jessica starts in mid-occtober, Heather will stay with Mary for those last couple weeks to shore up any knowledge that she needs there. Um and Jessica is going to stick with Liz to kind of learn the ropes. And then
Jessica will eventually be going back and forth once Mary retires. So we think we got all that hashed out. So that is why there's two nurses but with different start dates. And we kind of got it figured out. And I'm sure it's not confusing to them at all. It's going to be But anyway, so let's call it Jessica. >> So this is Jessica. Um when when we interviewed here, uh her experience is something that I think is going to be a great asset for. She's currently a nurse at Roswell. Um and you know, I I think we can all agree that she's a really special type of person to to be a nurse there. And that came across through the interview process. She's going to be a super caring um and knowledgeable addition to both
clinics. Um and we thought that she would very easily be able to learn what it's like to be a school nurse with all the knowledge that she has. So um we're excited about Jessica and she's going to be a good fit come October when she joins us. >> Okay. Jessica Sully is 10 FTE school nurse effective October 19th, 2026. and nurses salary scheduled step one with benefits for the Wilson Teachers Association pending New York State fingerprint clearance. Can I have a motion? Someone a second. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> Opposed? Motion carried. CONGRATULATIONS. All the tables are one nothing. All right. So, this is Heather. Um, she might be a familiar face or should be. So, Heather, um, you know, is a family in our in our district. She's, uh, subbed
in our schools before. So, um, you know, she she was a familiar face throughout the process. Also talking about someone with experience. She started listing all the different things she's done in nursing and she's covered the gamut. I mean, she's she's done everything in nursing. Um so especially you know me as we rely a lot on the clinic to for to basically cover us for for a lot of things in the elementary school and we feel very assured that Heather is going to be taking over that role um because we think between her knowledge and um how much that we think she'll care for the kids and uh you know the experience that she had that she's been successful. We're excited to welcome Heather. Great. >> I'm Mel. Heather Thompson is 1.0 FPE school nurse
effective July 1st, 2026 and nurses salary schedule step one with benefits for the Wilson features association agreement. Heather has met New York State fingerprint clearance. I have a motion. >> So move >> a second. >> Second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> Opposed? Motion carried. Congratulations. Megan Westbrook. >> This is Megan Westbrook. We're going to hopefully be our eighth grade math teacher. Mrs. Palmer retires. Very excited about Megan coming into middle school. She's a superstar. We're lucky to have her fall into our lap and end up retiring from here, I would hope. But, uh, she's experienced math teacher. She's, uh, she's built relationships with, uh, um, short time that she was with our our students. Her knowledge base is is beyond reproach. And I think the board I Megan Westbrook is 7 through 12
math teacher effective September 1st, 2026. Vega Westbrook is initially certified with mathematics 5 through9 and professionally certified with mathematics 7 through 12 credentials and is appointed to the tenure area of math at step 3 B30M with benefits per the Wilson teachers association agreement. This appointment includes a three-year probationary period beginning on September 1st, 2026 through September 1st, 2029 or the first day of student attendance in September 2029 due to the attainment of tenure following the successful probationary period at a previous school district. A probationary end date is contingent upon the individual receiving an overall APR rating of effective or highly effective within at least two of the three preceding years. Probationary employees receiving an ineffective APR rating in the final year probation will not be eligible for I have a motion. So move >> a
second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> Opposed? Motion carried. Congratulations coaching today. Yeah, she's in she's in Pittsburgh right now. >> Okay. All right. Sam Samantha Ch is a special candidate for for the district. She interviewed very very well. She's also coming from so we've seen from that area teachers, but we're we're super super uh happy to have Sam with us. Um and it was very evident in her uh demo lesson as well is that she building relationships with with students. She was calling them by their first name within 5 minutes of the lesson. And that's extremely important to me as a building leader is is building relationships with our students. Uh she's very knowledgeable and um she's super excited to come to Wilson as well. Um her mother is a teacher in the
high school, Mrs. So the the bloodlines are are kind of thick with education. So we're extremely happy. She's got a lot of support here as well as at home. So that's a very very exciting. Um but uh she's very professional. She's going to do a great job for us. Great. Samantha Ch special education teacher effective September 1st, 2026. Samantha Cho is initially certified in students with disabilities grades 7 through 12 generalist English language arts 5 through six extension annotation and English language arts 7 through 12 and is appointed to the 10-year area of special education at step one CB with benefits per the Wilson Teachers Association agreement. This appointment includes a 4-year probationary period beginning September 1st, 2026 through September 1st, 2030 for first day of student attendance in September 2030. Probationary end date is
contingent upon the individual receiving an overall APR rating of effective or highly effective in at least three of the four preceding years. Probationary employees receiving an ineffective APR rate in their final year probation will not be eligible for tenure at this time. Can I have a motion? >> So motion >> a second. >> Any questions? All in favor? >> Opposed? Motion carry. Congratulations. We're going to take a quick short break for a tenure reception as well as an entire celebration and then we're going to get right back into the board meeting. Move right quickly after that.
