I'd like to welcome everyone to the board meeting tonight. I'd like to call the meeting to order. If we could stand for the pledge of allegiance. I pledge algiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all. >> Thank you. Roll call. I believe we're all here. All right. I'll take a motion to approve the agenda for tonight. >> Make a motion. >> Thank you, Cindy. Do I have a second? >> Make a second. >> Thank you, Dennis. All those in favor? >> I The motion passes. Um, approval of the minutes from the May 11th meeting. That includes the minutes and the executive session. Anyone have any comments? Hearing none, I'll take a motion to approve the

BOE minutes and executive session for May 11th, 2026. >> Make a motion. >> Thank you. Do Trisha. >> A second. Thank you, Mike. All those in favor? >> I. >> Announcements. Do we have any announcements? Just I guess I just would like to announce that the town of Clarence is going to have their fireworks in the park uh the first Monday at the last Monday of the month. That's 29th, June 29th. >> Thank you, Don. >> You're welcome. >> Hearing no other announcements, we'll move on to correspondence. Um I don't believe there's any new correspondence since our last meeting. Worth noting we have no unfinished business. We will move to red devil recognitions. Dr. Frame. Thank you, President Bleoli. Um, for those who have not been to a board meeting before and aren't familiar with

Red Devil recognitions, there may be the board's uh favorite thing. Each month, boards of education in New York State are elected to establish policy, uh, put a a spending plan in place, serve as liaons with the community. Uh, but this is something that really anchors the board in their work. It's a chance to recognize people in our school community who really have gone above and beyond. And so tonight we are acknowledging a series of I believe uh six red devils and they are people who are nominated because they show an uncommon level of hard work, respect, kindness and compassion. So we're going to pause to highlight their accomplishments this evening and we're going to do a couple things. One is that President Bleoli and myself we're going to move with a microphone over to the

screen. Um when we invite uh someone who is receiving a recognition up uh we sort of cast to the more the marrier net. So, if you're being recognized, come on up. If you are the nominator, we would invite you up. Um, we're going to actually read the nomination that was submitted and then we have a certificate, a pin, and uh, some additional Red Devil swag for you. Uh, we also have, um, someone who helps us out with communications work. And they'll retell this story for our school community later in the week. U,, but again, it's a really meaningful um, few minutes for us each month. And we thank you so much for being with us tonight. So, first up from Ledge View is uh Mrs. Slovich, who is a kindergarten teacher, a member of our

faculty. If she would come up and Amira Shahid uh who was the nominator, we'd invite you up to the stage. So, Mrs. C, we're going to have you right in the middle here. And thank you so much for being here. I'll have you join Mrs. C. I also just plant this seed in the back of your mind. There are a number of Ledge View Lions being recognized tonight, members of our faculty. But I also just note this as I'm reading from the different statements. Note the number of times people talk about meeting the needs of every child and they talk about IEPs. It really is striking and it's a point of pride for our district. So this is for Mrs. C. Mrs. see is the human embodiment of kindness, compassion, and commitment to every single

student in her kindergarten class. As a mom of a student with an IEP, I could not have had my daughter placed in a better classroom. The first week of school, I had my breath, scanning for things that could go wrong. The second week, I exhaled as I began to realize that there was an angel of a woman running this classroom and that she had my daughter completely safe and sound under her wing. Every single day ever since the first week of school, that safe feeling has never not been present. It is my daughter's smile. It's her conviction that she is capable of great things. And it's in the peace we have at dinner every single night knowing it was another great day for Ava at school. Mrs. C has shown great patience and kindness in

getting to know Ava and has encouraged her, believed in her, and has unlocked academic potential that even we as parents would not have expected on our most delusional day. That academic, social, and emotional growth is a testament to the commitment Mrs. C has to her students. For our family, she is that teacher. The one that believed in our kid, the one that met her where she was and brought her to the next level. The one that showed her our kid she belongs and that she's nothing short of the brightest future in the palm of her hand. Thank you from the bottom of our grateful parental hearts. You are an incredible person, teacher, and an example of compassion in this world that could be a kinder place for all our children. I'm tearing up just reading

that. Oh my gosh, that hit you right now. If you would uh join me congratulating Mrs. C. And before Mrs. C, um what we'd have you do is head that way and shake our board members hands. But before you do that, we're going to grab a photo. So Mr. Balioli, if you'll come back to the screen. >> Congratulations again. Next up is Mrs. Newert, also from Ledge View, who is nominated by Angelica Conway. So, if Angelica is here, we'd invite you up as well. Congratulations. Have you been in Mrs. Nubert's class this year? Oh my gosh. Awesome. Come on up. Come on up. Well, thank you for being here. We're going to have you stand right in the middle with Mrs. Newert. And so I'll read from the Knop Nation submission. It says, "Miss Newert

has been a gamecher for our daughter this year. She came into first grade nervous about school and really anxious about reading. She was frustrated that it was challenging for her and over the summer didn't even want to attempt it. Within days, Mrs. Newert was already winning her over with her kindness, positivity, calm demeanor, and just overall true teacher magic. Our daughter adored her. She makes school and learning fun, and there's always a song to go with it. If you fast forward from September to now, we now have a little girl with confidence, leadership qualities, and one that is so excited and happy to read whenever she can. She reads for fun now. And there are nights that we catch her with a flashlight after she should be in bed because please just let me finish

this one part. It's so good. Mommy and daddy, we could not be prouder of how far she has come and continues to grow and cannot give Mrs. Nubert enough credit for all she's done for our girl. She thinks math is fun, too, and races to see if she can beat daddy at figuring out our math problems. Miss Newert is an absolute gift to the Ledge View community. And again, we cannot be more grateful and thankful for her. Thank you, Mrs. Newbert. You were made to be a teacher, and we could not agree more. If you would join me in congratulating, I love that story example of reading a book. Good for you. That's just awesome. and Julia if you wanted to shake our members. Congratulations. Next we have Sarah Crer, a speech therapist in the

district who was nominated by Nicole Blankenship. If Sarah and Nicole would join us up here. Congratulations. >> Thank you for being here today. >> Mrs. Crraer has gone above and beyond our expectations and we can't thank her enough. She saw that our daughter has struggled to communicate and she has made learning fun, creative, and has implemented new learning techniques for our daughter. Our daughter Logan has struggled verbally since she was born and recently we have found that she is a Gustalt language professor, something that is new to us and for many SLPs. Mrs. prayer without hesitation asked to learn more about it and has started implementing this for Logan in her sessions and has helped her teachers and aids to help better understand how Logan processes and expresses her thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Mrs. Kra

offered to reach out to Logan's SLP outside of school and took the time to come in and sit in on one of her therapy sessions to see how she could help and understand more. Communication is so important and it's expressed in many different way uh ways other than words. Mrs. Krer sees that, understands that, and is creative with her students to help them in any way possible, whether that's verbally, visually, or through a device. Not only has she supported our daughter in school, but she has supported us as a family when we needed help and to make our creative ideas come to life to better help Logan and staff members. Mrs. Crer is a teacher who truly loves her job and cares deeply for her students and families. Her patience and positive attitude have made

a difference in our lives and we can't thank her enough. Without her constant hard work and dedication, we would not be where we are today. And today we are he hearing and seeing Logan's beautiful voice. Something two years ago we thought wouldn't be possible. Congratulations Mrs. Crer if you join me. You are doing so well. Great job. >> Next is Jessica Moore who is nominated by Karen Naples. Good to see you. Thanks for being here. >> Right in the hot seat, right in the middle. >> So, in the nomination, it reads, "My son Luke has had a difficult transition into the middle school. Mrs. Moore has been wonderfully supportive and has helped Luke embrace the middle school a little bit more. She has come up with different plans for him, suggestions, and advocated where he

needed additional support. Luke also received support from Mrs. Moore in ASD. He refers to her as a Swiss Army knife because she's only one person who can do so many things. He thinks of her as a mentor. Jessica embraces everything you would hope to find in a middle school teacher. Intelligence, empathy, and logic. She has been a wonderful support to our family, and I'm not sure how we would have made it through without her. I am so grateful to have her on our side and we are so grateful to have her in the middle school working with our students. If you would join me in congratulating Mrs. >> She called me the next day. You got to hear this. Next up is Amanda Witherl who is nominated by Nithan uh Amananda. So we would invite

Amanda and Nathan to join us on stage. Amanda, you have had a busy evening. Amanda was at the tenure retirement ceremony and then hustled to the other side of town. So we're glad that you're with us for a second event tonight. And you're not having to perform at a concert or conduct a concert. I know this is a busy time of year for members of our music faculty. Says, "We would like to recognize Miss Witherell for her exceptional dedication to her students, often going above and beyond in ways that may never be publicly seen, but she does it anyways." On the evening before our son's NISMA audition, we learned that the judge's copy of his music, which we had expected would be available through the school, could not be obtained due to unavailability. With stores

already closed and the audition scheduled for the following morning, there appeared to be no easy way to secure the required music in time. At that point, we had resigned ourselves to the situation. However, the next morning, we received a message from Miss Wither through Parent Square letting us know that she had personally managed to obtain a copy overnight. What stood out most was not simply that her um that she solved the problem, but that she took it upon herself to do so when many would have considered it beyond their responsibility. Her initiative, care, and commitment ensured that a student had every opportunity to succeed at an important event. This experience reflects the kind of educator Miss Witherall is thoughtful, dedicated, hardworking, and deeply invested in the success and well-being of her students. We're incredibly grateful

for her efforts and feel fortunate that our children have the opportunity to learn from someone who consistently demonstrates such qualities. Miss Witherl exemplifies the very very best qualities of an educator and we wholeheartedly nominate her for this recognitions. Congratulations Amanda. If you'll join me in congratul And last but certainly not least, uh, Mrs. Herd, a member of our Ledge View special education faculty who was nominated by Aira Shahid. If Aira is here, I'd invite you to join us up on stage. I'm going to hand you the mic uh, when you get back up here. Thank you for being here again. Yeah. Yeah, we do indeed. Here. Here. She says, "I am the parent of a kindergarten student with an IEP in a classroom co-taught by an absolute rockstar special ed teacher by the name of

Andrea Herd. We started the year with some hesitation. A newly minted 5-year-old making her way into her first big kid school and a nervous mom finally letting go. Ava had a speech delay and was incredibly timid, which led our family on a journey through early intervention and later CPSE. Though successful, it was an emotional and confusing time. Here we were, two parents with doctorate degrees who technically should but did not know how to help. Here's what we did know, though. Ava is unconditionally the absolute center of our universe, and we'll always believe in her. We started at Ledge View knowing Ava is a bright, smart, and kind little girl who may need a little support. Our greatest hope as parents was that her teachers could see the amazing child we know and love at home.

Enter Andrea Herd with a warm introductory email before the year started and a kind meet and greet at kindergarten roundup. Mrs. Herd has undeniably been Ava's anchor and greatest support system at school. Since first impressions, the simple fact that remains steady is her focus on the positive and on what Ava is capable of. And it has impacted our child's learning and development in major ways. We are in awe of this confident, smart, and empathetic little girl who takes immense pride in her schoolwork and truly believes she can achieve anything. Andrea is not just Ava's teacher, she is her life skills coach and cheerleader at school. Thank you, Mrs. Herd, for helping Ava thrive and allowing our family to turn the chapter. We are grateful for your role in creating a space where Ava feels safe,

encouraged, cared for, and above all that she belongs. Wonderful. Thank you so much. If you would join us in congratulating Mrs. Herd, >> if I ever win an award, I want you to introduction. Oh my gosh. Said I'm going to write my kids college essay. >> All right. Well, congratulations. Fantastic. >> We We have one more. Um, as we come to the end of the school year, we'd like, as a board, we'd like to take a moment to recognize and thank our student representative, Avery Collins, for her outstanding service to the board of education. Avery, can you come on up? with enough room up here. >> Throughout the year, Avery has been an engaged and thoughtful voice at this table. She consistently brought the student perspective into our discussions, helping us better understand the experience,

priorities, and concerns of our students. Her insights, preparation, and willingness to contribute have been greatly appreciated by us. In addition to her service on the board, Avery has represented our school community with pride as a member of the softball team, demonstrating demonstrating the same dedication, teamwork, and commitment that she has shown in this role. Avery, we thank you for your time, your leadership, and the positive impact you have made on the board and our district. And we wish you continued success in the future. You're welcome. We have some We have this. You can hang it in your dorm room. And when it gets cold, you could wear this sweatshirt. >> Oh, thank you. >> It is a Michigan Wolverine sweatshirt. We are So, that was a joke. >> It was headed to Michigan State. Uh,

so that'll be beautiful. But we would love to grab your picture with our full board and to say thank you. It has been such a treat this year. So, we're going to have you right in the middle. We'll have the rest of the board gather around. We have a couple board members come to balance things out. So, if you will just clap one more time. And I'll just uh note this. Avery's got to stick around for her last meeting tonight before we send her off uh to become a spark next year at Michigan State. We have had such a great past year. We know this is incredibly exciting time of year athletic events, homework assignments, all the rest. So we should pause for a moment if folks want to take off. We completely understand our

schedule. You don't have to leave but thank you again for being here with us tonight. All right, Mr. Mr. Baglioli, that is it for Red Devil recognitions tonight. >> Thank you, Dr. Frame. We're going to move on to um board reports and I will start with the policy committee meeting. Um the policy committee may met on May 18th, 2026. Um you have a copy of the minutes of that meeting in front of you. We had 11 policies. A lot of them were mandatory. Um so I will not discuss those. The two I would like you to focus on are the policy 5840 on artificial intelligence and the clearance CSCD guidelines for the appropriate use of artificial intelligence. So um for our next meeting if you could all take a look at that if you have

any comments we could discuss it and I hope to adopt those. I think the first reading is tonight. Correct Dr. Frame? >> Correct. Yep. >> Thank you. Uh moving on CEF >> we have not had a meeting so I have nothing to report. >> Okay. PTO meetings hearing. None. Any Erie County Association School Board representatives? >> The only thing I would note is we have an awards uh dinner coming up this Thursday where Trisha will be um honored with an award. >> Thank you. >> Yep. >> All right. Superintendent reports. Thanks, President Buly. We have two different reports tonight. The first is a very brief looking ahead together update. So, I'm going to head to the mic and then uh our student representative Avery Collins will give her last student body update. So before giving

a a brief update on what the summer looks like as uh we transition from one year to the next, I did just want to pause and acknowledge the fact that I believe the last time that we met uh we were still leading up to the budget vote and uh school board election. Uh and just wanted to express on behalf of our team uh our school district an appreciation to our community for passing the spending plan for next year electing three returning school board members uh to their seats as continued members of our governance team and would just note the fact that uh we do track very closely data from one year to the next. Uh last year we had an approval rating of 83% the highest in 50 years. Uh this year at 81% it

was the highest passing rate of all Erie 1 districts. So those are like districts in Erie County that are made up of component districts and the Boseies. That's a real point of pride for us. Uh it says a lot about the fiscal work that this group does. It says a lot about our community and how they show up for all kids every day. And so we did just want to express our thanks for that. We'd also like to acknowledge that this is a busy time of year from athletic events to concerts to recognition ceremonies. I know that your concerts have been filled one, two, three, four nights a week uh going to different school functions. We appreciate your time and visibility at those. And so, while we want to be present and really enjoy uh

the last few weeks of this school year, we are also thinking about preparation for 2026 and 27. And so, I want to talk about our different main departments at a district level and just very briefly touch on some of the things that uh will focus their time and attention over the summer months. So, first up, uh we are a school district. Teaching and learning is the heart of what we do. And so I want to highlight just a couple of things that will be going on. Uh one is that whenever we're thinking about introducing new courses or further enhancing and developing existing classes, a lot of that development happens over the summer months. So this really takes place with our curriculum office. It takes place with members of our faculty and you can see some

of the different things that they'll focus on. Uh our school board and uh cabinet team, administrative team also spent the better part of the evening uh down on the other side of town. uh celebrating a group of retirees uh and folks that are receiving tenure, but it has been a busy hiring season, not just this year, but the past uh several years. And so, one of the things that that means is that we're inviting a talented group of new red devils to become members of our school community. And we have a world-class new teacher mentoring program. So, that is overseen as well by our uh our curriculum office and by Gretchen Row who heads up that program. And uh they'll start working on that right away. and it culminates in a three-day experience for our

new teachers. In August, so that is something that takes a tremendous amount of planning. We'll have a traditional administrative retreat uh early on in July that plays an important role in our summer work. And then, it's hard to believe, but we very quickly start gearing up for the start of school. We have a three-day experience for faculty and staff, which really sets for us uh what the year will look like. So from our curriculum office, those are some things that'll start very quickly as we turn the page from June to July. Uh again, I had mentioned the number of individuals that are retiring. That's not just teachers, it's also members of our uh operational and support staff. We had a big group tonight uh recognizing all the folks that have shaped our school community and

served our students for years. And so uh our human resources department has been incredibly busy this spring. It's not a one-man band. However, when we're talking about hiring, we have a committee approach. It is engaging. It is thorough. It is rigorous. And it really is a team approach. And so, we'd like to thank all the individuals who have been a part of that process. And so, once folks join our school community, we want to make sure that they are wrapped in support. We also want to make sure that we're growing as a result of their energy and expertise, and that starts with our HR department. We have really gone from the hiring of full-time tenure track probationary faculty and staff. As we get into the summer months, there are always some unanticipated changes and people

who will be accepting long-term subs that may be um newer to our attention. So, uh that that will certainly take a lot of time from our human resources department. And we also know from our spending plan work, our budget development process, healthcare uh continues to be an important part of our spending plan. And so for our HR department, that is constantly going back to our plans that are available, making sure that we are being uh diligent, we're being thoughtful in terms of what is offered uh and and the cost and resourc resources associated with those plans. As we si shift to our student support services department, again, I did want to acknowledge the fact that as we went through Red Devil recognitions, I was really struck by the comments and feedback that came through from

parents. And uh tonight it was specific in many ways to led you into the middle school. We hear those things again and again across our district and that is a real point of pride uh here in Clarence. So we may see the end to a school year in June, but we have an extended school year for students who have 12-month programming this year at the elementary level. It will be housed at Ledge View. Mr. Bkacio will be serving as principal. Miss Connor will be serving as an administrative intern. And so they'll be communicating directly with families. Uh our student support services team also will be engaged with professional development and uh our team is also talking about expanded unified offerings. This is something that started with one sports team, two sports teams, now we're adding

a third, but has also moved into different programming. If you haven't seen the video already, on the homepage of our website, there is a great video that talks about different experiences available to our students and there's a section on unified programming and it's really powerful and I'd encourage you to watch it and I encourage you to be proud of what our student support services team has been developing. And then the continued growth of SEPsA that is our uh parent organization. Uh they've just taken off this year. They were recently recognized regionally for the work that they're doing. They have been offering uh thoughtful, engaging sessions for families. They have been attended by district staff as well. They're getting good attendance uh and really helping to grow our program. So that's the student support services area.

And then to just comment on uh the operations, our te our technology and buildings uh and grounds uh departments. Our tech department will be uh finishing up a replacement system for our district phones, which is a big thing uh if you run a tech department. So they're doing that. They're also performing upgrades on our wireless infrastructure, uh our virtual desktop and our onetoone devices. So you can see those different components outlined there. And then you also can see not just some capital work but also some um annual work that goes on at our buildings and grounds department. I just I do want to highlight the fact that for the this summer and next we will be engaging in a capital project. Uh it tends to be things that are uh fairly basic in nature. things

like brick work, things like HVAC work, things like uh work to our our our septic systems in the building. We do have parking lot bus loop um work happening at the middle school this summer and then the east side of the high school front loop this summer and then the west side next summer along with Sheridan Hill parking lot work next summer. So, uh, there's additional information on our website, but as soon as we close up, uh, for students and staff in June, our capital project team will move in, uh, and we'll start summer work because we have, as anybody knows in the school sector, a tight timeline to get a lot of work done. So, that's a very quick kind of looking forward, uh, update for the summer. Any questions from members of our

board? All right. Uh, thank you. And I'm going to turn the clicker over, turn the mic over one last time to Avery Collins. May Avery is driving down. Do we know who next year's um board rep is walking down next year's board rep is? >> You know, I spoke with Mrs. Balding today. Mr. Smith and I were out just checking in on a number of people. She was going to verify with a student that they were still interested and then notified me. So, I should be able to share that information this week. I'm disappointed to know it's not a family offic Oh, the Academy of Business and Finance and the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts seniors graduated from theirmies starting off the commencements for the high school. Art students displayed their talent at the

at a practicum and business students celebrated their accomplishments. The 61st annual Klein Hensen Band concert occurred this past week. All three bands at the high school got to work with Dr. Mallerie Thompson, who is a retired professor at Northwestern University. Students got to work with Dr. Thompson and learned from her experience and put on another amazing concert. The seniors in the engineering development and design class put on their annual cardboard boat races. These students have been preparing for months to design a cardboard boat to withstand seven passengers in the pool. The winning boat eventually had 19 passengers travel from one side to the other. Students, faculty, and parents got to watch these seniors hard work pay off. The class of 2026 celebrated their plans for next year in the donuts and decisions event. Seniors commemor

commemorated their future plans, including college, trade schools, and entering the workforce. The class joined together to celebrate all of their accomplishments and feats. The high school and middle school engineering clubs participated in tech awards at Sunni Erie. This annual competition included schools from all over Western New York and showed off projects and technology education. Many students placed high in first, second or third and meddled in all sorts of events. Ledge View held their annual color run where students run fundraised for this event. This run included colorful powder and confetti and racing with other classmates. Sixth grade students at the middle school learned all about rockets at an event sponsored by the Clarence School's Enrichment Foundation. Students learned all about the science and technology behind rockets and enrich students in science education. Middle school students participated

in the Scoops for Scholars event where students who maintain an average of 95% or higher got to celebrate their achievements with fellow classmates. This event recognizes the hardworking students for their dedication over the year. Students at Sheran Hill learned a valuable lesson through the kindness suitcase which is a part of the Holocaust education resource organization. Students learned about the Holocaust and developed skills like standing up against hate and values including inclusion, compassion, and empathy. And then thank you all for an amazing year and for supporting me in this position as a um as a student representative. Thank you for making my senior year so memorable. >> Thank you. And that is it Mr. Bogli for the report section tonight. >> Thank you Dr. Frame. We don't have any public comments I'm aware of. >> Dr.

Uh, I would just note that a lot of these are annual things. And then the others, if you refer back to our our last finance committee, they were reviewed and recommended coming out of that team uh meeting. F10, resolution to fund the TRS contribution uh reserve fund. F11,

F-13, a resolution to set the date of the reorganizational meeting in July. And F-14, an annual reorganizational meeting draft. So that is just anformational item uh for the board to review before we meet in July. >> Any comments or questions on F1 through F14?
