for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. >> Turn over to you. >> Yes. >> Okay. I'm going to turn the meeting over to Dr. Sia. Thank you, Miss Miller. Good evening. Welcome to our last board meeting of the school year. Time definitely does fly. Couple of highlights. A big thank you to the community uh for coming out and voting our budget uh and improving our budget this year and a big shout out to our faculty and staff for an amazing open house the night before the budget vote. So all good things that week. We had our spring concerts last week which were lovely. Uh it's so nice to see more and more students joining our music program. We had our first annual color run by all of
our PTAs. Uh not this past Friday, the Friday before. I actually think there were more people at the color run than trunk or treat. >> Yeah, it was unbelievable. And where's Dr. Tal? But she's not here tonight. She did a run and those little kindergarteners were following her like little ducklings around the track. It was really nice to see. Uh, we had our field the flag ceremony. Big shout out to Mr. Carter and his team for getting all those flags up. Always a wonderful event. We had our set to ice cream ice cream social. I know Miss King will speak about that. Uh, we had our spring family engagement. We've had a lot of activities, a lot of events, and we still have more coming. Tomorrow is field day for our sixth graders, and the
weather looks fine, and that's here at FET. Funday is next Wednesday, I believe. Watching that weather already, but we know how the weather works lately. You never know. Uh we have our our Dr. Irene Lenhard awards at MAMS on the 17th. We are closed on Junth. I think we need a break with all these activities. That's next Friday. And then we have our kindergarten moving up on June 24th. And we have our sixth grade moving up on June 25th. And yes, sadly, our last day of school on June 26th with our early dismissal at 9:30. We also have a half day this Thursday. Our students are dismissed at 11:30. So, take a look at your calendars. A lot going on. And speaking of a lot going on, tonight is a very special evening. We are
celebrating our retirees. So, I'd like to call Dr. Palmer, I believe, has a big part in this this evening. We're making him work over at Old Mill. >> No, I'm going to let you handle that because I have nothing on my agenda for an order. >> Okay. Next time I'm asked to get paid by the speech. >> Um, so I just want to let you know Regina Calder did not make it tonight. uh shortly before the end of the day her husband had fallen so she had left for the day. >> Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry. >> Um so hopefully he is well and we will see her tomorrow. >> Okay, keep us posted. >> Okay, so >> come on down. All right. >> You could take that off of It's easier to hold.
>> Oh, he prefers it. You Thank you, Mr. Carter. >> Exactly. I told him to set it to my height, not his. >> Here we go. Anyway, >> exactly. I'm going to talk about that, too. So, good evening. I'm have the pleasure of celebrating someone who is beloved aid at Old Mill Road School, Katherine Kit Gan. To paraphrase the famous creed of the post office, neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays this incredible woman from the swift completion of her appointed role. For years, no matter what the weather or the world through us, there she was, standing at the front door, ready to welcome our students upon arrival. and I have been lucky enough to stand next to her for the last six months and gain great insight into what makes
our school tick. Kit, you didn't just stand there. You brought sunshine with you. Always happy with a smiling face for every single child who walked through these doors. And it wasn't just a generic good morning. You know them all. You greeted them by name, making every child feel seen, safe, and valued before their school day even began. For so many kids, that smile was exactly what they needed to start their day right. Your incredible journey in our district began all the way back in 1990 as a substitute aid before officially stepping into a full-time role in 1998. Over the last 36 years, you have been a pillar of support at both camp Avenue originally and Oldmill Road. An amazing story of dedication. You spent eight years keeping our kids safe and active on playgrounds and
an incredible 28 years serving as special education aid. You have given your heart to our community and you have left an indelible mark on generations of students. Thank you for your incredible years of service to the students of Old Mill Road School. You will you we will miss your smile at the front door, but we wish you the absolute happiest, most well-deserved retirement. Thank you. We have all yours. Thank you. >> Okay, come back. Okay, next I'd like to talk about Lori Retella. It's my honor to speak about another incredible woman who has given so much of her heart, time, and energy to our school community. Lori Retella. When you look at what what makes a school truly safe, nurturing, and successful place for children. It isn't the bricks and mortar. It's the people. For
over two decades, we have been blessed with one of the absolute best. Lor's journey with our district began all the way back in 2004 2005 school year. Talk about someone who knows the place inside out. She started as a substitute monitor and a substitute aid and even lent her talents to the main office as a substitute clerk clerical worker. If there was a gap to be to fill or hand needed, Lori was always there. She left the district briefly for full-time work elsewhere and returned in 2014 when she was officially appointed a full-time aid. If you look at Lor's evaluations over the years, two words pop up constantly, collaborative and dedicated. She is the ultimate team player, always maintaining a positive disposition and a calm demeanor that can put any student and colleague at ease.
Lori has done wonders with her assigned students. She's naturally hardworking and nurturing. a kind soul who always puts 100% into everything she does. She has worked tirelessly to support her students, building their confidence, and guiding them when they're out in the mainstream. Lorie's embodies what is it means to put students first. She has changed lives, calm fears, celebrated victories, and built bridges for our kids to succeed. Our hallways quite simply won't be the same without her. As you turn the page to this next exciting chapter, Lori, please know that your legacy is here is secure. We will miss you. Thank you for 20 years of being a cornerstone of our district. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement. If you want to come back. >> Yes, I would love that. Thank you. Yes. >> Okay. Now, on
to the main office and our senior clerk typus, Cindy Natoli. Come on down. It's only four pages long. >> Okay. Every new educator enters the profession with a lot of big ideas, but they quickly learn the universal truth. The principal might run the meetings, but the secretary runs the school. For the past eight years, Cindy has been the steady hand and welcoming smile and heart of our front office. Cindy first joined the district back in 201213 school year, starting as a library typist clerk at FET. And because Cindy apparently just couldn't get enough of us, she even spent her summers working hard in the business office. Her dedication didn't go unnoticed. In 2018, she was promoted to senior typest clerk. Moving over to anchor the old mill road main office. Now working in a school
office takes a special kind of person. It requires efficiency, but more importantly, it requires heart. And Sydney has a the biggest heart. She is the kind she's kind of children who walk through the doors every single day. Whether a child is feeling under the weather, having a tough morning, or just needs a reassuring word, Sydney knows exactly what to say to them to make them feel cared for and where to pick up a computer seems to be the biggest thing. On a personal note, as an injuring principal, I can tell you that Cindy was an absolute godsend for me. Stepping into the role can be daunting, but Cindy knows every procedure, every rule, all the history, and exactly who is who. When I was unsure of the next step, Cindy already had the answer ready.
Cindy, you have spent 14 years keeping us organized, keeping us on track, and filling this office with warmth. You've greeted thousands of students, hundreds of staff members, and done it all with unmatched grace. The front office simply wouldn't be the same without you. But before I conclude, I want to balance this with a little some quotes from some kindergarteners just to give the accolades some balance. Antonia said, "Thank you for helping us on the class trip." Sophia said, "She calls our our room an awful lot." Marin said, "She makes announcements too long." And finally, Aiden said, "We love you." Wait, which lady is she? Aw, >> as as you step into the next welldeserved chapter of your life, we hope you swap the typing keys for total relaxation. Thank you for your 14 years of
incredible service, your wisdom, and your friendship. Cindy, congratulations on your retirement, and happy birthday. >> A happy birthday. Someone else wants to say something. All right, Sam. No, >> today I have the honor of speaking about someone who has been much more much more to me than a coworker. For the past nine years, we have shared not only a workplace but a journey. We worked together, experienced countless changes, celebrated milestones, and supported each others through life's ups and downs. Through all those years, one thing remained constant. your kindness, wisdom, laughs, and friendship. You have always been like a mother figure to me. Whether it was offering advice, lending an ear, an an ear, sharing a recipe, or simply being there on a difficult day. While your dedication and hard work have made a lasting impact
on our district, it is your friendship, warmth, and caring heart that I will miss the most. Over the years, we watched each other's families grow, celebrated accomplishments, face challenges, and created memories that I will cherish forever. The office at Old Mill Road won't be the same without you. Thank you for nine wonderful years of friendship, support, laughter, and memories. You have touched so many lives, including mine, and I am grateful for every day we spend working together. As you begin this exciting new chapter, I wish you happiness, good health, relaxation, and all the joy you deserve with the people you love. Congratulations, and let us all wish Cindy a happy retirement and all the best to you. And by the way, it's her birthday, so happy birthday, CINDY. Next Okay. >> Okay. >> Um Megan's
walking in. So, but the great part about being a retiree, you don't have to stay anymore. You don't have to stay for the rest of the meeting. You can leave. So, yeah. So, please feel free to get out or not, but we don't want to keep you any longer. >> How are you? >> I said she was walking in. >> Oh, yeah. >> Well, I said we'll give him a minute to leave >> on the detect. First uh last row. No, I just I wanted >> Yeah, yeah, >> that was perfect timing. >> Oh my god, >> we'll give everyone a minute. >> Anything? Uh, >> no. I did my >> comments. We did the retirees. >> The comments already. >> Yep. So, you're up to routine approval. >> Okay. >> All right. All right.
Here we go. Oh, we'll get started. Um, sorry, I apologize for being late and congratulations to all the retirees tonight. Um, we're going to go right into it. We did we do we're opened everything up. >> We're in the >> Okay. Okay, good. So, all right. So, we just need a motion to approve our routine approvals 4 A through 4C by Tracy, second by Steve. All in favor? I motion carries unanimously. Uh, public comments on agenda items only. Are there any? All right, moving on. Um, if we can have a motion to approve um 6A through All right. Uh, double B. 6A through double B by Will, second by Tracy. All in favor. Motion carries. And a mo a motion to approve our personnel actions report 7A by Will, second by Mary. All in favor?
I. And Dr. S. >> Yes. I'd like to um welcome Gabrielle Romano, our new technology teacher for the district. She's here this evening. >> Stand up. Stand up. What up? All right. >> Welcome. Excellent. We look forward to uh working with you. Uh we if we have a motion to approve 8A through 8R. >> Motion by Tracy, second by Mary. All in favor? >> I. Motion carries. Uh report of committees. Um we are going to defer our high school report to the next meeting. Um cuz I left my notes at home and Mr. Corono is not here with us. So um we will we'll we'll double up for June. We're doing a I mean for July I can tell you at the high schools we're doing a lot uh a lot of awards ceremonies um
championships. We're getting ready for the graduations this weekend at the high schools. Uh moving up ceremonies for eighth grade on Friday. So, uh, uh, the PTAs have been great. Uh, I can tell you as a mother, they love their free ice cream, the kids, and, uh, everything, a lot of work has been going into, so we'll give a, a hearty report in, in July. Um, Mary Keane, our school community relations PTA council. >> PTAs were awesome all year, and they continue to do great things with all the end of the year, uh, exciting events approaching. So, SAE, we had our installation night in celebration on May 13th. All PTA members were invited to join as we celebrated an amazing year, honored award recipients, installed our new executive board, and recognized the volunteers and PTA members
who make it all possible. The North America Color Run was a huge success, and you're going to hear that for all the PTAs. It was so exciting to see this new event come to life with all three elementary schools. Camp Avenue. Our recent talent show was tick tock themed and tons of fun with so many acts. This year, teachers had a surprise dance, which was the hit of the show. Districtwide. Again, the color run had over a hundred students registered and raised over $8,000 in Camp Avenue. So significant. And Old Mill Road. This Thursday, we will be holding a meet and greet with our new principal. We are preparing for funday on June 17th. Uh, we have Westchester Circus coming to put on two shows to go in line with our circus theme. We have
finished all of our clubs for the year and using them again next year, space permitting. Our sixth graders will be very busy this week with many year-end planned activities including field day on June 10th. And with all of the fundraising efforts this year, Old Mill Road PTA's goal was 48,000 and they exceeded that goal by collecting a a total of $55,600. So uh all the PTA is awesome. And uh last but certainly not least, SEPTA had their end of year ice cream social on Wednesday, June 3rd at Camp Avenue. It was a great night. Lots of people came in and out and the ice cream was delicious. It's a great year. It's all about the ice cream. End of the year. Uh, Mr. Carter, buildings and grounds report, field of flags. Excellent. Wonderful. >> Flags
coming down Thursday. It's sad to see it go, but >> thank you for all the team putting that up. >> It looks really good. I love pulling up every day seeing that. >> Um, so the guys mowed the lawn for field day tomorrow. It's going to be great. We're holding out for great weather. Uh, Irene Lenhart's coming up at MAMS. We have fun day at each of the buildings which is it's pandemonium for my crews. We spread thin and we go to it. And uh then we have all six graduations in two days, you know, moving up ceremony. So that's great. Um we're also getting ready for the classroom. Uh we're doing some uh new flooring in the classrooms in this building and we have uh camp roof happening which is a big project. Very
exciting. And uh they're going to be those two are going to begin immediately after school like the Mon Monday the 29th will be uh we'll be mobilized for that. So that's good to hear. And then uh we have summer programs. It's like you know you take a breath and then the buildings are full of kids again. So it's really cool. Uh so much going on this summer and uh very very excited and I want to thank my crew for all the hard work that they do for everyone >> and thank them on behalf of the board too. Thank you. >> Of course I will. Thank you. >> Great work. Uh Mr. Long communications. >> No communications. Any board members, any unfinished business, new business, any public comments on anything? Evening. Okay. Um, I will ask
for a motion to adjourn. We'll see you next month. Motion by Tracy, second by Mary. Have a great night. Down in
